I got the idea for this ritual from Gregg Braden on his show “Missing Links,, Season 1 Episode 7.” He tells a story of a Native American asking him to go with him to “pray for rain”, they live in northern New Mexico where there has not been any rain in quite some time. When they reach his friend’s Medicine Wheel his friend steps inside of it for a few minutes and then comes out asking if Mr. Braden is ready to go to lunch. Mt. Braden is a little confused and asks his friend “David”, “I thought we were coming here to pray for rain.” To which “David” replies, “I was taught to see things are they would be when the rain fell. I could feel the mud squish between my toes coming out of my pleubo, to smell the cleaner air, to see things turning green and the crops in the fields growing. If we pray for something that is happening right now we get nothing but if we can see and ask for what it will be like after it rains than the rains will come.”
We are living in very uncertain times for all parts of our lives except the spiritual one. This is a time when we need to step up and use our spirituality and magickal abilities to help ourselves and others. The intention for the ritual in this Esbat gathering is to ask for healing mind, body, and spirit for everyone including yourselves anywhere upon Mother Earth and for Mother Earth Herself. Please try to keep your mind focused not on what is happening now but how we see things at the end of this COVID-19 virus. Yes, some things are hard to picture on a grand scale so keep it simple and see how you, your loved, and friends came through this virus strong and healthy. See you and/or your loved ones, and/or friends back to work. See all of you gathered together having a party of some kind to celebrate – remember in this age of being able to connect with people anywhere in the whole you could even do a Skype conference call party (Skype allows 50 people to be connected to each other at the same time).
So, for a little while at least set your worries and stress aside and join us in this Esbat celebration of how each of our personal lives will be at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. The song I picked May The Circle Be Open is to remind us we may not be in a circle together all the time but there are ties that still bind us together so we are never truly all alone. We are going to do a healing drumming circle than at the end we will meditate for 2 minutes. Then anyone that wants to will have a chance to share their fears or stresses or where they see themselves and family at the end of the pandemic. There will possibly be a time limit set for each person sharing time depending on how many people join us in this gathering.
What You Need:
1 large white candle (that you can burn for 1 hour every day for 1 week. If you feel you want to keep lighting the candle after the first week then that is what you should do just make sure your candle is large enough for the duration you want to keep lighting it.)
Correct size holder for your candle
Your favorite Essential Oil for dressing the candle after engraving it
A device you can listen to the song (watch the video if you want to)
Something sharp to engrave you candle (a knife, your Atheme, a toothpick or a pin of some kind)
Fireproof Container to put the burning paper in
Lighter or Matches
I call to Archangel Raphael to reside in the Watchtower of the East to help protect those in this circle and when we leave it from any type of negativity.
I call to Archangel Michael to reside in the Watchtower of the South to help protect those in this circle and when we leave it from any type of negativity.
I call to Archangel Gabriel to reside in the Watchtower of the West to help protect those in this circle and when we leave it from any type of negativity.
I call to Archangel Uriel to reside in the Watchtower of the North to help protect those in this circle and when we leave it from any type of negativity.
I invoke Goddess Sirona (1 of the healing Goddess of the Celts) and God the Dagda (Celtic God of fertility, agriculture, life, and death.) to walk this circle with me three times three. To take us to a place that is not a place and an out of time as we know it. I bid you reside in our circle to help give strength and power to our work here.
Please click on this link to start the song setting your intention(s) of where you and those you care about will be feeling and doing after the COVID-19 pandemic has passed while listening to the song.
Now take approximately 5 minutes to write your intention(s) down on the piece of paper – How and Where you see yourself and those you care about feeling and doing once the danger of the virus is gone.
Next, inscribe the names or initials of the people on the paper you are doing this ritual for. When you are done with that take a small drop as needed of your favorite essential oil start at the bottom of the candle in one motion smear the oil to the top of the candle. Turn the candle clockwise and again apply the essential oil, repeat these steps until you come to where you put your first line of essential oil overlap the first and last applications.
Now light your candle. Burn the paper with the candle while visualizing how everyone included on the candle lives will be at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic in whatever country or state you all live in. Repeat this spell/prayer three times while the paper is burning: (If you feel a word or some words need to be changed to fit how you would say this spell or prayer you can do that as this is your plea and thanksgiving to your deity)
Sirona we ask for the health for those we have written here is strong and unaffected by COVID_19. Sirona we thank you that none we asked you to watch over became sick
the Dagda we ask that you keep us working from home or where we are employed or go to school. the Dagda we thank you for taking us through this time with being employed and/or in school that none of us lost anything we needed for home and hearth.
I see those on my candle as still being healthy, employed, and now able to go on with our daily lives. As we mourn with those far and wide who lost someone to this pandemic.
So Mote It Be (OR However you end your spell or prayer

If you will be attending out Coven’s New Moon ritual on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 7:00 PM CT, there are some preparations you have to do before hand. Please have you candle prepared beforehand. If you choose to inscribe it the night of the gathering during that ritual there will be a two-minute window once the circle and Watchtowers have been called for meditation and raising as well as combining our energies. With our energies combined it will give the spell and your candle more power. The full ritual and any links you will need will be up on Coven Life’s website by Thursday, May 18, 2017. If you have any questions please email Lady Beltane directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
1 White Taper Candle (After engraving your candle freeze it. Take it out of your freezer and place in a candle holder that it can stay in somewhere in your home after gathering for at least two hours before our gathering begins to allow it to thaw at and to room temperature otherwise, it may explode possibly causing you or your home harm.) Do not place the candle in the microwave to defrost it will explode!
Think hard on spiritual goal that can come to fruition or be working at the next Full Moon
Atheme or Sharp Item to engrave candle
One word engraved on candle to state your goal or intention
Working candle magic is one of the easiest ways to work a long-term spell. A long-term spell includes any that take more times of doing it than once for you to get the out you desire from the spell.
I will have a spell prepared to empower all our candles initially.
Below is the spell you will say each day you light your candle:
Hecate I call upon you as I light this candle to release the goal inscribed.
After your candle is lit rep=eat this spell three times:
Candle burning bright
Help me reach my goal with all the power you hold.
Bring the power and energy from the coven’s ritual forward with all its might.
Do not let my intention you contain fold.
So mote it be (or however you end your spells.)

The Witches Spell for Monday, May 2nd
A Spell of Renewal
Do you need to remove negative thoughts, people, or actions from your life and move on? This spell is designed to do just that. It’s important that you know exactly what you’re trying to remove from your life- often times things that are actually positive can be confused for negative.
You should also prepare yourself for an onslaught of emotions. Purging is always emotional, trying, and draining. If you find halfway through that you aren’t ready to release your pain or the negative things that are clinging to you, it is safe to stop this spell halfway through and try again another day. Remember, being kind to yourself and giving yourself permission to feel pain should always come first before trying to rid yourself of the pain. Getting rid of it before you’re ready can leave you feeling emotionally stunted.
Dragon’s Blood incense
Music that calms you
Something to write on. A candle, black or red, works well. You can also try a photo of a specific person who is causing the negativity.
A writing implement. Depending on what you’re writing on, this could be a pen, a marker, or a pin for the candle.
At noon, take your tools to the sunniest part of your yard. Light your Dragon’s Blood incense. Sit for a few moments, meditating on how you want to feel. Imagine yourself happier, brighter, smiling more than you have in years.
Bathe your candle or photo in the smoke of the incense, making sure every part of it touches the smoke. Rub the candle or photo with your thumbs with the image of yourself happy still in mind.
Now, write your spell. This should come in the form of a command- I will forgive this person, this emotion will disappear from my life, I deserve happiness. Whatever works and is in line with your desires. If you’re carving it into a candle, carve it deep, with power. Really pump yourself up for this.
Light your candle or set the photo on fire, but do it on something where you won’t lose the wax or ashes. If it’s a candle, you don’t have to wait for it to go out completely. Just let it run until you start to feel relief.
Bury the ashes of the photo or what’s left of the candle in the sunny spot, at least a foot deep. If you feel negative emotions coming back, return to this spot with your Dragon’s Blood to meditate on your happiness again.
Mirror Magic (Scrying, Spells, Curses and Other Witch Crafts)
To help you awaken your inner magick you can cast this easy spell.
Start by gathering together the following items:
- an empty notebook (you will call this your Magickal Diary)
- and a blue pen
Then, on the day or evening of the moon (Monday) take a bath or shower first to help cleanse and purify your aura and after you get dressed in some clean comfortable clothes, find a quiet place in your home where you can be undisturbed for at least half an hour and place the notebook and pen onto a table or a flat surface and sit down nearby.
Close your eyes for a few moments while you take deep relaxing breaths and imagine that you feel and see a white light surrounding you and filling you with a feeling of peace and happiness.
Next, open your eyes and then open the first page of the notebook and with your pen draw the shape of a square or rectangle on the page and look into the square while you imagine that this is a doorway and it is opening up and you are stepping through the door.
Let yourself relax and feel happy and uplifted as you imagine that your mind is stepping through that doorway into a sunny garden that is full of your favorite plants and flowers, (you may even see some fairies and unicorns there too) and let yourself stay in that enchanted place and have fun imagining for a while as you say these words,
“To the left and right of me, Above and below me, I awaken the spirit of nature and magick within me.”
When you feel you are ready, let your mind come back through the door and close the notebook and say
“I am a wonderful child of the Universe, and so will it be.”
When you finished your spell, you can write the words, My Magickal Diary, or whatever words you like on the front cover and keep this book as your enchanted workbook for spells and wishes.

Witches Spell for Sunday, March 2 – Spell for Stress and Depression
White candle (non-dripless variety)
Kunzite or blue agate
Black marker with wide felt tip
Lemon oil (the kind used for furniture polish is fine)
Begin by completely coloring the candle black with the marker to symbolize the
depression that presently encases you. Light the candle and say:
Flame cut through depression deep,
Melt it down and make it weep.
Grant me power to re-emerge,
From its grip, I leap and surge.
Watch the candle burn until white wax appears at the flame.
Rub a bit of lemon oil into the flame and say:
Kunzite/agate, stone of mellow hue,
Dissolve this depression, I beg of you.
Take its power and transform its strength
Into positive energy I can use at length.
Lightly rub the stone against your temples and your heart, then place it in front of the candle and sprinkle it with lemon balm. Let the candle burn completely.
Place the stone and herb in the cloth pouch and carry it with you.
When your spirits need a lift, re-anoint the stone and repeat its empowerment chant.
I always look through all my books during this time of year because I am bored. Every year, I keep coming back to this simple ritual. I do it and it gives me reassurance Spring is just around the corner. It will not only refresh your room, your soul but also you. I hope you try it and find it as useful as I have.
Winter Blue Banishment
Winters can be long and Spring can seem far away in February. Confined indoors by the cold and inhospitable weather, we can become depressed and lethargic. We neglect ourselves and leave a dusty and cluttered household. Despite that it lifts the spirits to clean out all the physical and mental cobwebs, we will find it hard to do this basic task. To start, simply choose one room, preferably. the room where you spend the most time. Burn some lavender incense. Smudge the corners of the room and yourself. Then open the blinds or drapes and call out:“Go, snow, go. Come, Sun, Come!”
Keep the incense burning and with your broom walk deosil while sweeping the ceilings. Chant:“Sun and broom swept the room. Fill us with Spring perfume.”
Continue cleaning from top to bottom. When the room is finished, take a deep breath and fill your lungs with the clean lavender scent. Envision your inner room as clean and full of Spring’s perfume.Author: Gail Wood
Overcoming your Shadows
Items You Will Need:
Cedar or sage smudging stick or cleansing incense
Bell Athame or ritual knife
Cakes and wine or juice
This spell, which signifies letting go the hurts of the past in a way that allows you to move forward with fresh energy into the future, can be performed at the time of the New Moon. By carrying it out every New Moon you are gradually able to cleanse yourself of the detritus of the past, often as far back as childhood
Cast your circle using the smudge stick or -incense to sweep the space as you move -around the circle clockwise.
Think of your space as being dome-shaped -over your head and cleanse that space too.
Ring the bell.
With your arms raised and your palms facing -upwards, acknowledge the Goddess and say:
Great Goddess, Queen of the Underworld, Protector of all believers in you, It is my will on this night of the new moon
To overcome my shadows and bring about change.
I invite you to this my circle to assist and protect
me in my rite.
Hold your athame or knife in your hands in -acknowledgement of the God and say:
Great God, Lord of the Upper realms, Friend of all who work with you, It is my will on this night of the new moon To overcome my shadows to bring about change. I invite you to my circle to assist me and protect me in my rite.
Light the candle and say:
Behind me the darkness, in front of me the light As the wheel turns, I know that every end is a beginning. I see birth, death and regeneration.
Spend a little time in quiet thought. If you can -remember a time either in the last month or-previously when times have not been good-for you, concentrate on that.
While the candle begins to burn properly -remember what that time felt like.
Now concentrate on the candle flame and -allow yourself to feel the positivity of the-light. Pick up the candle and hold it high-above your head.
Feel the energy of the light shower down -around you, the negativity drain away.
Now draw the power of the light into you -and feel the energy flowing through you.
Pass the candle around you and visualize the -energy building up.
If you wish, say: “Let the light cast out darkness.”
Now ground yourself by partaking of the -food and drink. Thank the God and Goddess -for their presence.
Withdraw the circle.
This is a very personal way for you to acknowledge the God and Goddess in your everyday life. While on first acquaintance it appears to be a protection technique, it is actually one to enhance your energies and to allow you to be healthy and happy in all levels of existence.
Lemon Uncrossing Spell
Purpose: To get rid of negative energy.
Items You Will Need:A cup of salt A fresh lemon Athame
Light white candles and protection incense. Anoint brow, heart and throat with oil. Put the lemon in the center of your altar and cut it into 4 slices (round).
“All spells against me congregate in this lemon, that’s your fate.
Sour spell to sour fruit, you must go there cause it’s your suit.
Bound to this lemon evermore. Each spell against me that’s your store.
All in this lemon, now I see, and as my will so mote it be!”
When you feel that the chant has captured the negative thought forms in the lemon, begin to sprinkle the salt on the lemon.
This salt for me breaks up the attacking energy.
As lemon dries in salt and air,
I’m freed from harm and all despair.
Uncrossed and happy now, you see!
And as my will so mote it be!!!”
Use lots of salt and when you are finished, thank all the elements.
Leave the lemon near your altar where you can watch it.
If it dries out, your work is done. If it should mildew, repeat the ritual.
Spell To Start A New Beginning
To start a new endeavor
Items You Will Need:
Small pot of soil
Water in a decorative pitcher or jar
This spell can be used to give a boost to a new endeavor (or even a new relationship) or to help you find a new start if you’re not sure what to do next. It can be done at any time, but for an extra boost, try doing it at the New Moon.
Focus on what you are starting ( or on what you might want to start or achieve, if you aren’t sure), then light the candle and follow the directions in the spell.
(Hold the Seeds in your Hands)Bless this new beginning A gift from the Gods Which I accept with gratitude and appreciation
(Put seeds in soil)Let it be productive like the Earth And nurtured by the warmth of the Sun
(Pour Water on seeds)Let it flow smoothly like the water And carry me in a positive direction Like a seed blown on the winds Bless this new beginning That it may broaden my horizons Strength and enlighten me. And help my spirit to grow and blossom
So Mote It Be.
Kiss It Goodbye Spell
To let go of baggage.
Items You Will Need:Black candle Empty paper bag Envelope Paper Pen
Write down your baggage on a piece of paper, and put it in the bag/envelope. After you say the spell, bury the bag or burn it in a bonfire or fireplace. As you write the words and say the spell, concentrate on your willingness to let go. You can even visualize a little creature packing bags and walking out the door and down the road.
Baggage can be anything that is weighing down your life: old memories, bad habits, etc. But keep in mind that if you are doing this spell to get rid of a person, they will probably get gone and stay gone. Be absolutely sure that this is what you want before casting.
Best to do this spell on the New Moon.“Pack your bags and get you gone Your time with me is finished now Once you worked but now you’re wrong And you can’t stay–no way, no how.” “Without your baggage I’ll move on I’ll get myself out of this rut So pack your bags and get you gone Don’t let the door hit ya in the butt.” So Mote It Be!
Letting Go Of The Past
Items You Will Need:
White or black candle
Bowl of water
Sometimes our pasts can hold us back from moving forward into our futures or keep us from enjoying our present. This spell is intended to help you let go of yesterday so you can move on.
Light the candle, then wash your hands (a symbol of washing way the past) and dry them on the towel. Then say the spell:“I pledge this day to do my best To put the past behind me Walking straight with head held high So fortune’s favor finds me.” “Yesterday is gone and done Tomorrow lies before me I will not let myself be found By history’s faded story.” “No longer looking toward the past Except for lessons learned I’m moving toward the future now And all that I have earned.”
So Mote It Be.
