The Sun

The Sun is an invitation to a supportive relationship in which you can be yourself around your significant other. You feel relaxed and loved, with a sense of peace of heart. You’ve struck gold and entered into a new realm. Keep looking if this is not how you feel because it is how things should be. You can’t expect improvement in a long-term union if you do not take effective steps to create it.

Hexagram Ten/10

Lü / Worrying the Tiger

Heaven shines down on the Marsh which reflects it back imperfectly:
Though the Superior Man carefully discriminates between high and low, and acts in accord with the flow of the Tao, there are still situations where a risk must be taken.

You tread upon the tail of the tiger.
Not perceiving you as a threat, the startled tiger does not bite.
Success.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

You have reached a perilous point in your journey.
This is a real gamble — not a maneuver, not a calculated risk.
The outcome is uncertain.
If it goes as you hope, you will gain — but if it turns against you it will cause serious injury, at least to your plans.
The best tack is extreme caution and a healthy respect for the danger involved.

Saturday

Saturday is a day filled with opportunities to clean up and clear out. So if you are wondering why Hecate is assigned to this day, take another look at what she symbolizes and the magick that is associated with her. That should answer the question.

Hecate was the oldest form of the Greek Triple Goddess, as she presided over heaven, the underworld, and earth. Crossroads where three roads met were especially sacred to Hecate, earning her the title of Hekate of the Three Ways. It’s interesting to note that even after the worship of other goddesses waned, ancient people still worshiped Hecate as the Queen of the Underworld and the Guardian of the Three-Way Crossroad. It was also believed that if you left her an offering of food there, she would grant you her favors. As Hecate Trivia, her triple images were often displayed at these crossroads, where she was petitioned on the full moon for positive magick and on the dark of the moon for cursing and dark magick.

While this last bit of information sounds a little ominous, keep in mind that Hecate/Hekate was known by many titles and is a shapeshifter. Her appearance could and did change often. As a dark moon goddess, her faces are many. To some she may appear as a old crone, hunched over a smoking cauldron and draped in a midnight cape. To others she may appear as a dark beautiful, mysterious, and mature woman wearing a shimmering crown. To some she may be perceived as a maiden priestess. She was called the “most lovely one,” the Great Goddess of Nature, and the Queen of the World of Spirits. This dark goddess knows her way around the earth and the underworld. All the powers of nature, life, and death are at her command.

(One Person’s View Point) Beltane Sunset to Sunset. April 30th – May 1st

Beltane honours Life. It represents the peak of Spring and the beginning of Summer. Earth energies are at their strongest and most active. All of life is bursting with potent fertility and at this point in the Wheel of the Year, the potential becomes conception. On May Eve the sexuality of life and the earth is at its peak. Abundant fertility, on all levels, is the central theme. The Maiden goddess has reached her fullness. She is the manifestation of growth and renewal, Flora, the Goddess of Spring, the May Queen, the May Bride. The Young Oak King, as Jack-In-The-Green, as the Green Man, falls in love with her and wins her hand. The union is consummated and the May Queen becomes pregnant. Together the May Queen and the May King are symbols of the Sacred Marriage (or Heiros Gamos), the union of Earth and Sky, and this union has merrily been re-enacted by humans throughout the centuries. For this is the night of the Greenwood Marriage. It is about sexuality and sensuality, passion, vitality and joy. And about conception. A brilliant moment in the Wheel of the Year to bring ideas, hopes and dreams into action. And have some fun…..

Traditions of Beltane

Beltane is a Fire Festival. The word ‘Beltane’ originates from the Celtic God ‘Bel’, meaning ‘the bright one’ and the Gaelic word ‘teine’ meaning fire. Together they make ‘Bright Fire’, or ‘Goodly Fire’ and traditionally bonfires were lit to honour the Sun and encourage the support of Bel and the Sun’s light to nurture the emerging future harvest and protect the community. Bel had to be won over through human effort. Traditionally all fires in the community were put out and a special fire was kindled for Beltane. “This was the Tein-eigen, the need fire. People jumped the fire to purify, cleanse and to bring fertility. Couples jumped the fire together to pledge themselves to each other. Cattle and other animals were driven through the smoke as a protection from disease and to bring fertility. At the end of the evening, the villagers would take some of the Teineigen to start their fires anew.” (From Sacred Celebrations by Glennie Kindred) Green Man – Beltane

Page of Pentacles – Minor Arcana Court Card

The Page of Pentacles shows a young man, standing alone in the middle of fertile land. There was a lush forest of fruit trees behind him, promising a plentiful harvest. He walked slowly and did not know anything about the surrounding area. He focused on nothing but the gold coin in his hands. The sky is bright and everything is going very well on the path leads to his future success.

In Tarot court cards, The Page is a card of new beginnings, inspiration and early stages of a creative project. Pentacles correspond to the element of Earth in Alchemy. Therefore, the fact that the Page treasures the gold coin shows an awareness, appreciating the value of money not only physically but also about the related needs such as health, food, and clothes.

Ifin/Iphin

Io (sometimes Ph) is Ifin or Iphin, the Pine tree. This evergreen was once known as the “sweetest of wood,” and its needles can be brewed into tea which provides a good source of Vitamin C. Pine is associated with clarity of vision, and alleviation of guilt. When Ifin appears, it may indicate feelings of guilt that need to be put aside, or unresolved conflicts that need closure.

In Scotland, the Pine was a symbol of the warrior, and in some stories it was planted over the graves of those fallen in battle. More often than not, the Pine was used as a building material, and it continues to be used as such today.

Ifin Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: When this symbol appears, it means you need to stop beating yourself up over feelings of guilt. Did you say something hurtful, and damage a relationship? Now’s the time to mend it. Make amends for mistreating others, whether it was deliberate or accidental.

Magical Aspects: Use any residual bits of guilt to bring about change. To do this, you’ll need to focus on the root cause of your feelings. Once you find the source of your discomfort or anxiety, channel that negative energy, turn it around, and use it as a tool of transformation. When this symbol appears, it may also be a hint that you’re not seeing things as clearly as you should be. Put aside emotions and look at things from an intellectual standpoint–in other words, don’t let the heart rule over the brain.

Angel number 26 carries a powerful message about balancing our earthly needs with spiritual growth. 1 It’s easy to get caught up in just the financial side, but there’s so much more to it.

The 26 number meaning goes beyond money – it’s a gentle reminder to have faith in divine guidance for all areas of our lives. 2 Over my decade-plus of studying numerology and founding Numberology, I’ve come to see how the energies of 2 and 6 combine to create something truly special in this number.

Key Takeaways…

(One Person’s View Point) Samhain (Sow-en) – The Celtic roots of Halloween

As millions of children and adults participate in the fun of Halloween on the night of October 31st, few will be aware of its ancient Celtic roots in the Samhain (Samain) festival. In Celtic Ireland about 2,000 years ago, Samhain was the division of the year between the lighter half (summer) and the darker half (winter). At Samhain the division between this world and the otherworld was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through.

The family’s ancestors were honoured and invited home whilst harmful spirits were warded off. People wore costumes and masks to disguise themselves as harmful spirits and thus avoid harm. Bonfires and food played a large part in the festivities. The bones of slaughtered livestock were cast into a communal fire, household fires were extinguished and started again from the bonfire. Food was prepared for the living and the dead, food for the ancestors who were in no position it eat it, was ritually shared with the less well off.

Christianity incorporated the honouring of the dead into the Christian calendar with All Saints (All Hallows) on November 1st, followed by All Souls on November 2nd. The wearing of costumes and masks to ward off harmful spirits survived as Halloween customs. The Irish emigrated to America in great numbers during the 19th century especially around the time of famine in Ireland during the 1840’s. The Irish carried their Halloween traditions to America, where today it is one of the major holidays of the year. Through time other traditions have blended into Halloween, for example the American harvest time tradition of carving pumpkins.

Two hills in the Boyne Valley were associated with Samhain in Celtic Ireland, Tlachtga and Tara. Tlachtga was the location of the Great Fire Festival which begun on the eve of Samhain (Halloween). Tara was also associated with Samhain, however it was secondary to Tlachtga in this respect.

The entrance passage to the Mound of the Hostages on the Hill of Tara is aligned with the rising sun around Samhain. The Mound of the Hostages is… Click here to read the rest of this article about Samhain

Five/5 of Pentacles – Minor Arcana

Loss; unpleasant differences

A man and a woman walk away from each other, each determined that their way or opinion is the only one. Five broken disks with pentacles lie on the ground between them. These disks symbolize life, friendship, cooperation, and/or love built between them, now destroyed because of ego and lack of compromise. Five dragons in the sky above them scream their anger and displeasure. Little dragons hiss at each other over the broken disks. The balance of the spiritual forces they have cultivated with their relationship has been upset, turning positive energies and events into negative ones.

Divinatory Meaning: Take care or there may be a loss of home or job. Differences arise that could divide friends or lovers. There may be a period of deep loneliness.

“Create a sacred space for yourself in your home and/or place of work”

A Sacred Space is an area in your home or work place where you have some privacy for contemplation, mediation, or simply a bit of quite time to think. If this isn’t possible to do at work, it becomes even more imperative that you provide this for yourself in your home. This is a space that is your territory, whether it’s an entire room or a corner of your living room or bedroom. Place a cozy chair or pillow there, and then set up a simple altar, one that contains a few pieces that are both personal and precious. Include a candle in your space that you can light when you’re abiding there. Make your sacred space a comfortable place to hang out, with no agenda or compulsion to do anything. As Buddha said, “Don’t just do something; sit there.”

You may find all sorts of reasons or excuses not to do this, but don’t cave in to these internal objections. Make it important enough for your emotional and mental health and balance to create this kind of private spiritual sanctuary. Be sure to do nothing in particular for a good period of the time you sit there. The increasingly rapid pace of life and growing intensities in the world are even greater cause for doing so. It’s a place for solace, one where you can more closely listen to your inner voice and feelings, and tap into the Life Force inside that’s expressing itself as you.

St – Straith

This symbol, used for the sound St, is Straith (sometimes seen as Straif), the Blackthorn tree. A symbol of authority and control, the Blackthorn is connected to strength and triumph over adversity. Blackthorn is a tree (although some might argue it’s more of a really big shrub) of winter, and its berries only ripen after the first frost. White flowers appear in the spring, and the bark is black and thorny.

On a medicinal level, Blackthorn berries–sloe berries–are brewed to make a tonic (this is what Sloe Gin is made from). The tonic can be used as a laxative and/or diuretic, as well as a skin astringent. In folklore, the Blackthorn has a fairly unpleasant reputation. An English legend refers to a devastating winter as a “Blackthorn Winter.” It also represents the darker side of magic and witchcraft. Because it’s a plant that becomes hardy when all around it is dying, it is associated with the Dark Mother, the Crone aspect of the Goddess, particularly the Cailleach in some parts of Scotland and Ireland. There is also a strong connection to the Morrighan, because of Blackthorn’s association with the blood and death of warriors. In fact, in early Celtic culture, the Blackthorn was popular for its use in the cudgel shillelagh.

Straith Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: Expect the unexpected, especially when it comes to change. Your plans may be altered, or even destroyed, so plan to deal with it. The appearance of Straith often indicates the influence of external forces.

“It’s time to strike out on your own and relinquish your over dependency on others.”

It’s so easy to slip into a comfortable dependency with anything or anyone, from simple dependencies that can be healthy and restorative (such as daily exercise) to destructive and hard-core dependencies, such as an addiction. You may find yourself so totally hooked on another person that you lose yourself, always turning to that individual to either make decisions for you or to validate your own. This can apply to organizations as well.

Those dependencies that you’re most familiar with are most likely born out of habit rather than conscious choice. To make truly autonomous decisions, don’t get caught up in the polarities of being dependent or independent. Instead, make those choices from a place where you maintain your own authority and power, and accept 100 percent responsibility for those choices and their consequences. Now is the time to review the people and things upon which you excessively and habitually dependent: Step back from them, identify the areas where you need to make some adjustments, and act accordingly. Practice setting boundaries, asking for what you want, and making decisions based on your own internal authority and autonomy.

Saille/Suil

S is for Saille, pronounced sahl-yeh, and is associated with the Willow tree. The Willow is often found near water, and when nourished it will grow rapidly. This symbol is representative of knowledge and spiritual growth, as well as being connected with the month of April. Willows offer protection and healing, and is closely connected to the cycles of the moon. Likewise, this symbol is tied to women’s mysteries and cycles.

In folk medicine, Willow has long been connected with healing. A tea of willow bark was used to treat fevers, rheumatism, coughs, and other inflammatory conditions. Nineteenth century scientists discovered that the Willow contains salicylic acid, a synthetic version of which is the primary pain-relief ingredient in Aspirin. In addition to its use as a healing herb, Willow was also harvested for wicker work. Baskets, small curricles, and even bee hives were constructed with this bendable, flexible wood.

Hexagram One/1

Name: Ch’ien.

Keyphrase: The Creative.

Formed By The Trigrams: Heaven over Heaven.

General: Persistent effort will help you realize your potential for achievement.

Love: You need to behave in a compassionate fashion towards your partner.

Business: Your ideas are sound but you need to take time to thoroughly plan out your strategy for making them work.

Personal: You need to take time out to relax and enjoy life more.

Overview: Ch’ien is pure yang energy. Being pure yang it indicates a time when you are in a good position to achieve your objectives (whatever they may be). However, it is a time of potential as there is a lack of yin influence. So now is the time to make those plans and get ready to put them into action. Plan thoroughly and don’t be impatient. Although Ch’ien is an auspicious hexagram, for your plans to have a lasting effect and value your motives need to be virtuous. Be compassionate when you move forward. If you are arrogant you will only breed complacency or resentment in those around you.

One

THE PRIMAL FORCE

From a spiritual perspective, the 1 is the number of creation – the primal force from which all other numbers spring forth. Some say once you truly understand the place and function of this elemental number, enlightenment will be yours.

This statement doesn’t apply to a Numerologist’s perspective alone, but perhaps it’s a good place to start since the personality of the number 1 aligns nicely with its elevated spiritual symbolism.

The 1 is a doer, a powerful force that produces results.

The 1 is aggressive – a necessary trait for creating, and not allowing anything to limit its potential. The 1 is the spearhead, always in the forefront directing and leading others.

The shape of this number reflects its meaning; the 1 walks upright with pride and purpose – strong, determined, and unwavering with a specific goal in mind. The 1 is capable of turning ideas into reality – pushing obstacles aside or simply drilling right through them.

The 1 tends to have a simple, straightforward view of life, heedless of its many complexities.

An individual with the dynamic 1 trusts their ability to separate right from wrong, doesn’t waste time on abstract ideas, and rarely follows a path that isn’t in line with their result-oriented goal. The 1 is no preacher, no philosopher, spiritual explorer, nor dreamer – and certainly not an idealist. They are pragmatic, ruthless conquerors, and warriors extraordinaire. The 1 is individualistic and independent to a fault. They will attempt to force their viewpoint on you but have no desire to hear yours.

The 1 can be confrontational, jealous, and exceedingly stubborn, but also courageous and willing to try anything new (with promise) even at great risk. They have a sense of honor and responsibility that demands respect and are the first to defend injustice and hypocrisy.

Befriend a 1 and you have a friend for life.

Fortunately, the 1 has a great capacity for humor, often self-depreciating, so you can poke fun at your friend and not worry about hurt feelings. But don’t cater to them to win love or friendship or you will lose their respect. Stand up to a 1 and you may lose the fight, but you’ll gain admiration. Working for a 1 you will be pushed to the limit, abused at all hours, and incapable of living up to unreasonable expectations. But you will also become the best you can be.

When in trouble, you want a friend with a strong 1 on your side, and you won’t find a braver partner or a more dedicated protector. But, if the 1 is your enemy, you could be crushed without mercy. And be forewarned, the number 1 is the most difficult of all lovers, demanding, jealous, confrontational, and impatient.

If you have a 1 in your core numbers, your happiness and sense of satisfaction will come from your work more than any other source.

Dog

Your loyalty and faithfulness is misplaced by serving to many masters.

“Whom do you serve?” is the question at hand here. When you compromise your personal integrity through misguided attempts to placate others out of fear of their disapproval or to avoid up setting them, you deny your own inner authority and give away your power. You become their servant, and they, your masters. You allow this by assuming that another person or organization has greater knowledge, power, or spiritual wisdom than you, and put yourself in “less Than” position. While other may possess some of these attributes to a greater degree than you do, you can honor them as teachers — not masters.

Children may rightly look to their parents for this sort of guidance. However, as they mature, it’s appropriate that the leash to their parents’ authority stretches and is eventually severed. The human error is to continue to project this parental authority onto other people and institutions, and then either subjugate their will or act in opposition to that perceived authority. Over a number of years, you may find yourself attached to the leashes of their masters, leading you to feel fragmented and, to some degree, powerless. Instead, take off those collars, and let Spirit be your one true Master. Then you will experience true freedom.

Jera – Harvest

Jera is representative of the harvest. It indicates that we can now reap what we’ve sown and enjoy our plentiful abundance. If you don’t feel like you have many blessings, it can show that either a breakthrough is on the way, or it’s time to take stock and express gratitude for what you do have (you’ll be surprised by how much you can always list in a gratitude journal)! It also represents the life cycle and cyclic nature of Mother Earth. It cannot be reversed.

The Moon

Keywords: Change.

Meanings: The “x” marks represent the four main phases of the moon and so you can expect changes to happen within the next 28 days. This is a particularly feminine stone and often appears in response to questions about women’s issues. The Moon rune is a messenger. It is telling you to be aware that major changes are coming to your life. Consult the runes closest to it to determine whether those changes are negative or positive.

Beith

Intention, beginnings, births, pioneer spirit

Birch (Betula spp.)

Letter: B

Well dignified: An intention with good potential. Bravery. Breaking free. Ending bad habits. Getting unstuck. The start of something good. A new way of thinking. An invention or fresh approach. The ability of getting outside yourself and fossilized modes of thinking. Breaking out of the box. Being the change instead of just talking about it.

Humans learn through mimesis, so it is only because of the brave souls willing to put their necks out for change that anything improves in the world. Beith indicates the willingness to follow through with an intention so you can change yourself and your world for the better. At first, it’s possible nobody will follow you, but Beith says you have the courage to get it done.

Every day is a new opportunity to become a better person than you were yesterday, no matter how tiny the improvement. What can you do, even if it is a tiny action or possibly inaction depending on the circumstance, to be kinder, braver, humbler, more honest with yourself, more generous, and more grateful than you were yesterday, last week, last year, or last decade?

Beith ill-dignified excess: Too many ideas
Confused and contrary intentions. The need to limit ideas or prevent a bad idea from coming to fruition. Being on the bleeding edge, not understanding consequences when you hurl yourself at a thing. An idea that is destined for failure, like going on a diet or attempting to get rich quick. Bitterness when you have a great idea that everybody rejects because you are the first person to do it; being too far ahead of your time. Possibly having a misguided, too vague, or even toxic intention that you’ve refused to examine the cold light of morning. Too many good ideas — a great problem to have, but you don’t have infinite time to pursue them all. Throw some in the fire.

Beith ill-dignified dearth: Lack of ideas
Weakness, inertia, depression, sloth. Paralysis. Wanting things to change and knowing it’s not yet the right time or right place. Feeling stuck or trapped in a situation. Possibly blaming others for problems that originate from within. Needing a dialogue or to talk and/or think it out. Having no idea what to do next. Possibly the need to overcome phobias by striking at their emotional roots. Possibly the feeling that you can somehow escape dealing with your problems, sometimes at the existential level, like when an atheist contemplates suicide as a “way out”. It doesn’t work that way: just bite the bullet and figure out how to work on yourself, because the notion that you have a choice on whether to do so or not is a false one.

Hexagram Sixty – Two/62

Hsiao Kuo / Lying Low

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

There is no profit to striving here.
To be content with oneself is the greatest success imaginable.
The enlightened person has nothing to prove to himself or others, and thus may always operate from a position of sincerity, with no pretense or posturing.
His humility is guileless simplicity.
His mourning is selfless compassion.
His frugality is an unshakeable faith that he is but a conduit, letting what is needed flow through him to others, with no loss to himself.

Sixty – Two

Basic Meaning

The basic meaning of angel number “62” is “trust the world” and “believe that small life problems work like miracles”.

Angel number “62” conveys the message that even if life does not go well or is hurt by relationships, it should not be a resentment or disbelief in “the world / human beings (people)”.

Believe that the essence of people is “good” and treat them kindly, even if not all human beings seem right.

Doing so may increase your fortune and miraculously clear up minor life problems.

(One Person’s View point) Friday the 13th Origins, History, Folk Lore

Long considered a harbinger of bad luck, Friday the 13th has inspired a late 19th-century secret society, an early 20th-century novel, a horror film franchise and not one but two unwieldy terms—paraskavedekatriaphobia and friggatriskaidekaphobia—that describe fear of this supposedly unlucky day.

The Fear of 13

Just like walking under a ladder, crossing paths with a black cat or breaking a mirror, many people hold fast to the belief that Friday the 13th brings bad luck. Though it’s uncertain exactly when this particular tradition began, negative superstitions have swirled around the number 13 for centuries.

My View Point of How to Use Sun Phases for Spells

While almost every witch follows Moon phases for doing spells, rituals, and other magickal works. I also use the Sun phases, especially because my patron God is Ra.

Every day there is a waxing, full, waning and new phases for the Sun besides the seasonal changes. From sunrise to noon is the waxing phases, the full phase is from 11:55 AM to 12:05 PM, the waning follows until sunset is the new phase.

For the seasons spring is the waning, summer the full phase, fall is the waxing phase and winter the new phase.

This idea and the phases may seem a bit strange to people but when the Moon is in the wrong phases for something I cannot wait to do I use the daily and if possible the Sun phases. This gives me more options of what I need to do.
