9 of Wands – Minor Arcana

A Pause

A man holding a wand stands between two large Air dragons. His expression is on of tiredness but triumph. The magician has moved through many trials and tribulations to reach this moment of rest and success. Behind him is dark, twisted wood, the frightening and mysterious depths of the subconscious, where malicious faces of past lives or past experiences in this life may rise to haunt him. To succeed in his journey, he had to acknowledge past errors and build upon that experience. A steep stair leads back from where he stands into the woods, symbolizing that his journey through this life is not yet finished. However, at this moment he and the dragons stand in full sunlight, representing spiritual power. In a semi circle above the man’s head are eight wands, their tips flashing in the sunlight. If he can keep his willpower bright, he can ascend the steps without worry.

Divinatory Meaning: There is a pause in a difficult lifecycle, giving you a much needed rest. This is a time when you must carefully plan your next step. Success is in sight but more effort is needed.

JUSTICE

There is at least one person in your life who needs to be addressed with a little bit of tough love. You have to be fair, of course, and think through the situation carefully to make sure that you understand completely. This person may be somebody you love or need, but criticism must be delivered, however blunt or insensitive you may be perceived by speaking your mind. A heartfelt letter may be in order, even if done at a distance.

Quert

Q is for Quert, sometime spelled Ceirt, and is tied to the luscious Apple tree. Long symbolic of love and faithfulness, as well as rebirth, the Apple is often associated with magic. If you cut an apple in half sideways, the seeds form one of nature’s perfect stars. In addition to love, the appearance of Quert reminds us of the eternal cycle of life. After all, once the Apple tree dies, its fruit returns to the ground to birth new trees for coming harvests.

The Apple and its blossoms feature prominently in folklore related to love, prosperity and fertility. The Roman goddess Pomona watched over orchards, and was associated not so much with the harvest, but with the flourishing of the crop. Apples are also connected with divination, particularly for young ladies wondering about their love lives.

Quert Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: No one likes to be faced with choices, because sometimes what we want is not what we need. However, we still must choose. Sometimes, we make decisions because they are the right ones to make, not because they make us happy. Be wise enough to understand the difference.

Magical Aspects: Open your inner soul to new decisions, and allow yourself to harvest the gifts that your spiritual path has to offer. Know that sometimes, things might not make sense, but chances are good that you’ll learn from this later.

Hexagram Thirty-Three/33

Name: Tun.

Keyphrase: Retreat.

Formed By The Trigrams: Heaven over Mountain.

General: It is not an admission of defeat to retreat from an unequal fight.

Love: Take the time to strengthen your position when considering engaging in a fight with your partner.

Business: Rethink your position and strategy before reentering negotiations. Do not compromise just because it is quicker to do so.

Personal: Don’t ignore issues but formulate an effective strategy before attempting to deal with it. Avoid destructive confrontations.

Overview: Tun is all about retreating from destructive confrontations and it tells you that to do so is not an admission of defeat – just that it is the wisest thing to do in the circumstances. It is not however, telling you to forget or ignore the situation. Instead it advises you to formulate an effective strategy before reentering the “conflict” and dealing with it. Tun signals it is time for a temporary retreat not that it is time to run away and hide.

Three

THE CREATIVE CHILD

The number 3 is like a gifted teenager who is still under the protection of its parents – a bit spoiled, clearly scattered, and perpetually in need of guidance. However, the 3 excels in the creative field.

An individual with 3s in key points of their numerology chart will have a passionate need to express feelings, ideas, and vision. Coupled with an extroverted personality, they are likely to seek a career in art, especially the verbal arts.

Another unique quality of the 3 is the tendency to be “lucky,” or rather, to be in the right place at the right time. This may be connected to their innate sense of rhythm – the 3 seems to be in tune with the cyclical nature of their surroundings.

Their social skills are also excellent.

Without little focus on deeper aspects, the 3 can succumb to difficulties unless friends and family provide support.

The 3 can have a jealous streak too, causing conflicts when those it has rejected move on in search of more meaningful bonds.

However, this kind of “joie de vivre” can leave those same people unprepared for the more demanding experiences that life inevitably brings.

Ngetal

Healing, cleaning, cleansing, catharsis, paring down

Tree: Broom (Cytisus spp.)

Letter: Ng

Like when a fever breaks, broom signifies the end of a struggle and the subsequent ability to clear out the junk to make way for a newer, more positive approach. Walking a way from a bad habit or situation can be painful, but not necessarily so. It may also be gradual. Overall, Ngetal is the importance of getting rid of old junk and baggage (this could be actual clutter or psychological baggage, which of course are intimately linked) or it could mean the resolution of action against someone who has wronged you, whether it is forgiveness or cutting and clearing them out of your life. If it is forgiveness, Ngetal suggests it is coming from a genuine place of inner peace. Apologizing does not necessarily make you an apologist.

There is a process of analysis and reflection that eventually distances anger and enables you to feel it without being puppeted by it. Letting go of attachments that aren’t healthy, for instance, an obsession with being liked for the way you look, will help you develop in ways that fulfill your purpose in this life. Ngetal could signify you are beginning to release anxieties about what you have no control over, which will go a long way in healing your spirit.

Hexagram Sixty – Two/62

Hsiao Kuo / Lying Low

Thunder high on the Mountain, active passivity:
The Superior Person is unsurpassed in his ability to remain small.
In a time for humility, he is supremely modest.
In a time of mourning, he uplifts with somber reverence.
In a time of want, he is resourcefully frugal.

When a bird flies too high, its song is lost.
Rather than push upward now, it is best to remain below.
This will bring surprising good fortune, if you keep to your course.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

There is no profit to striving here.
To be content with oneself is the greatest success imaginable.
The enlightened person has nothing to prove to himself or others, and thus may always operate from a position of sincerity, with no pretense or posturing.
His humility is guileless simplicity.
His mourning is selfless compassion.
His frugality is an unshakeable faith that he is but a conduit, letting what is needed flow through him to others, with no loss to himself.

Sixty – Two

In numerology, the “angel number” is a “memorable number / doublet number”, and it is said that the doublet number contains a message from the angel. ..

When you happen to see the same number many times and the number is very impressive, it becomes an “angel number”.

What is the meaning and message of the angel number “62”?

Basic Meaning The basic meaning of angel number “62” is “trust the world” and “believe that small life problems work like miracles”.

Angel number “62” conveys the message that even if life does not go well or is hurt by relationships, it should not be a resentment or disbelief in “the world / human beings (people)”.

Believe that the essence of people is “good” and treat them kindly, even if not all human beings seem right.

Doing so may increase your fortune and miraculously clear up minor life problems.

Nion/Nuin

N is for Nion, sometimes called Nuin, which is connected to the Ash tree. Ash is one of three trees which were sacred to the Druids (Ash, Oak and Thorn), and connects the inner self to the outer worlds. This is a symbol of connections and creativity, and transitions between the worlds.

In Norse legend, Yggdrasil, the World Tree, is an Ash. Its roots grew down far into the Underworld, and its branches reached all the way up into the heavens. Odin hung himself from the tree for nine days as a sacrifice. Ash also features prominently in the Irish myth cycles, and is often depicted growing beside a well or pool of wisdom.

Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: Remember that for every action, there is a consequence, and these effect not only ourselves but others as well. What we do in our life will carry into the future and possibly even beyond. Every one of our words and deeds has some sort of impact.

Magical Aspects: The Universe is like a giant web. Strands bind us all together, either closely or at a distance. We are all connected in one way or another, so it is important to find harmony between the spiritual realm and the physical, and between all living beings. Endeavor to live a spiritual life that considers the needs of the natural world around you

Ruis

Regret, pride, shame, embarrassment, learning from experience, resolution

Tree: Elder (Sambucus spp.)

Letter: R

Shame isn’t all bad and does not deserve a uniformly awful reputation. Without shame and the fear of being shamed, every human child would be demonically bratty. Shame is a limit that informs us to keep our own ego in check. It is often about considering others. Having shame about one’s own past behavior is motivation to avoid shameful behaviors such as cheating and stealing.

Shame is an emotion that demands confrontation. All too often, people run away from what shames them, attempt to excuse themselves from wrongful or immoral behavior because they’re too cowardly to face what they have done or to admit their responsibility in causing their own misfortunes or the misfortune of others. Ruis indicates a willingness to face one’s own shame and to do with shame what it was meant for, and that is to use shame of the past to build oneself into a better person for the present and future. Ashamed of something you did? How can you make yourself into the type of person who would never even think of doing something like that? Overcome being the type of person who would engage in the shameful behavior and you become the master of it; you won’t have the remotest chance of repeating such a mistake. Did you become embarrassed because you did something you now understand to be greedy? Then learn to balance thriftiness with generosity. Adjust to the circumstance rather than overreacting to it. Are you ashamed about cheating on a boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse? Become a person who would never cheat on your boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse regardless of conditions, which could mean an assortment of outcomes: sticking to a resolution of no cheating and staying together, admitting one’s sexual preferences and going with the flow, changing the person you are with, or being single for a long time.

Because humans tend to remember negative experiences more easily than positive ones, it’s important when you draw Ruis to acknowledge the things you are not ashamed of about yourself. For every bad or shameful thing you’ve done, remember there are a thousand shameful things you avoided. Maybe it is time to appreciate the places you could have gone horribly wrong and did not.

Oir

Epiphany, realization, peak, lightning flash, elucidation

Tree: Spindle (Euonymus spp.)

Letter: Th

Oir signifies the realization something is at its peak. It is a few of insight and understanding; it is the “bolt of lightning” like Prometheus’s fire that enables human beings to evolve. Lifting the veil of ignorance can be painful and seeing the truth does not always feel like a gift. The possession of knowledge is a complex burden to carry: it is too complicated to qualify as “good” or bad”. Nevertheless, some epiphanies can be life-changers. They can grant us the ability to make good decisions and liberate us from cycles we no longer wish to participate in.

Believers in reincarnation speculate the reason we cannot remember our past lives whenever we want is because all of that information would fry our little human brains. The same is true of clairvoyance: if we could see all of the non-corporeal activity around us, it would likely send us straight into the asylum. A little fire is good; burning the house down or freezing to death for lack of a pack of matches is not good. Seeking knowledge is great; seeking to know it all at the expense of one’s sanity and personal hygiene never works out. Running away from the life of the mind ends badly in equal measure. As usual, this Ogham implies a balance should be struck.

Eight

Eight, as one of the core numerological numbers, is an indication of a dominant element, practicality, materialism and everlasting self-confidence. You are born to be a winner. Life is a battlefield for you, and all life’s benefits are the trophies. It does not matter if it is your battlefield or not, and which team takes the lead. You have the intention, and you have the goal. So the opportunity to achieve it will occur as well. You will provide it yourself, by any means. Therefore, those who try to resist your actions run the risk of breaking their necks.

Positive qualities

The positive qualities of the Eight are perseverance, courage and a great business instinct. People of your type control everything that happens in our world. No task is impossible for you, no obstacle invincible. You clearly see every next step both on your path and on the path of progress. Therefore, you know exactly what and when you should do.

You are reliable and impartial. You act tough, but always fair. If you take someone under your wing, this lucky person can consider their life to be well-off, and protection from any problems is guaranteed.

Negative qualities

The most obvious negative qualities of the Eight are arrogance, haughtiness and their habit of putting a slight upon the people who are in a dependent position. Well, there is also a couple of canonical vices like wrath and pride.

All these are the indispensable features of your business life, so they do not cause misunderstanding among colleagues and subordinates. In everyday life, however, such manifestations spoil your image adding some rough and unpleasant features to it. Learning to control yourself, so as not to abuse the family’s angelic patience, would be useful.

nGeatal/Ngeadal

Pronunciation – Knee-eh-tl

Tree Association – Broom

The accurate meaning for nGeatal is a broom. However, it is often represented as a reed due to Robert Graves’ interpretation in his book ‘White Goddess’. This interpretation was later expanded on by Liz and Colin Murray in The Celtic Tree Oracle but was not the original meaning.

Meaning – Health, vitality, strength, wounding, healers, and herbal remedies. A broom is a bush with bright yellow flowers and slender branches and was often used to create besoms. Besoms cleansed and removed unwanted or harmful energy from the home or sacred space. NGeatal is also symbolic of prioritizing physical and mental wellness by living a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

If reversed – Sickness, chronic illness, pain, suffering, need to purge or cleanse. Can indicate a lack of wellness in your life – physically, mentally, or spiritually.

Inscription and Magical Uses – Useful for all healing – meditations, ointments, remedies, or gifts to those recovering from illness. Perfect for incorporating into candles, oils, soaps, or lotions. Add to Moon Water you intend to consume to assist with health or physical well-being.

Folklore – Used to make the shaft of broom handles by witches. Broom was used to cleanse a space of negativity and apply natural remedies or hallucinogenic ointments (hence the term “flying”). The cream was absorbed through her sexual organs and quickly into her bloodstream.

The Self

Remain modest – that is the right of the oracle.  Be in the world, but not from the world.  Stay receptive to impulses, that come out of the divine in the inner and outer sphere.  Seek  to live the usual life in an unusual manner.

If you take the ‘itself’ rune and cut through it in the middle, you are going to receive the rune of joy and its reflection.  So there is a fine warning not to be careless. The acrobatically dancing energy of the balance is asked here to bring its higher itself.  Nothing in the excess – that was the second request that was to be read at the entrance to the delphish temple.  The first advice read:  Recognize you yourself!

Knight of Athames – Minor Arcana Court Card

This is s card  of swift action, especially once one’s mind is made up. There is determination and an aggressive approach to getting something done, so the inherent warning is to look before leaping. Spur-of-the-moment enthusiasm and the excitement of embarking on a new objective  could result in a lack of preparation or making a premature commitment without a solid understanding of what is involved. There a an element of impulsiveness and a sense of self-assuredness that could board on recklessness in pursuit of adventure. However, this card indicates a smart, eager, and courageous person who is goal-focused and has the capacity to succeed with determination and incisiveness. Sudden changes are possible, as well as the skill to solve one’s own problems. Impatience and a quick temper may hinder cooperation from others; however, this card indicates someone who is competent and able to take charge for a successful conclusion.

Peppermint for action, challenges, and accomplishment, grows wild along the track. A badger, a symbol of assertiveness, determination, and action, watches from one side of the track.

Meaning: Swift action, aggressive energy, self-assured, sudden changes, boldness, courage, ability, skill, incisive career activity, bravery, heroic action, quick implementation of ideas.

Oi/Oir

Oi, sometimes representing the Th sound, is Oir, the Spindle tree, which was used to make bobbins and pegs, as well as (obviously) spindles. This dainty little tree is misleading–while it looks delicate, it’s also very strong. The durability and strength of the wood made it useful for oxen-goads, which were used in ploughing. The white flowers and bright red autumn fruits, connect the Spindle tree to the hearth and home, as well as the bonds of kinfolk and clan.

Oir Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: When this symbol appears, focus on family honor. Remember that in addition to blood family members, we have people that we choose to invite into our hearts, our spiritual family members. Fulfill obligations you may have to people you love, whether you have been planning for or not. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, but ultimately, do what’s right for those who enjoy the hospitality of your hearth.

Magical Aspects: Work on developing a connection not only to the people in your clan, but in the greater spiritual community. Remember that differing tribes still have to work together for a common purpose, and that means someone has to assume the role of mediator when conflicts arise. If you’re active in the Pagan community, or in a specific group, this may fall to you.

Eight

The most misunderstood number in numerology.

The Numerology Meaning of the Number 8: BALANCE & POWER

In Numerology, both novices and professionals alike tend to focus on the “money and power” image of the 8. Often when a client requests a name change consultation, it’s because they want to add 8s to their chart with the mistaken belief it will bring them money and power.

It is true that the 8, more than any other number, emphasizes the areas of career, business, finances, and authority.

As with other single-digit numbers, the shape reflects its most important attribute; in the case of the 8 it signifies balance. The 8 is the great Karmic Equalizer, a force that creates just as efficiently as it destroys. When the 8 comes knocking, you can be assured you will reap what you’ve sown.

The 8 creates a balance between the material and spiritual worlds.

At its best, it is as spiritual as it is materialistic. The sacred side of the 8 is practical, rational, and intelligent. It knows the difference between make-believe and genuine realization.

On the material plane, it is focused on results – often in the form of money – yet it doesn’t care about acquiring wealth merely for the sake of being wealthy. It is not greedy; it sees money as a tool not an end-result. It is generous and willing to take risks.

As with all single-digit numbers, the 8 has a positive and a negative side.

One mystery of Numerology is that there is a small number of people who, from an early age on and for no discernible reason, seem to turn the opposite direction of what their charts indicate. “Seem” is the keyword here. This phenomenon is found with all numbers, but it appears to affect 8s more than others. There are quite a few people whose charts are dominated by 8s that become priests, missionaries, humanitarians, and so forth. However, even those selfless, loving individuals tend to be skilled in fundraising, money management, and authority.

Druid Ogham

One

Numerology Meaning

THE PRIMAL FORCE

From a spiritual perspective, the 1 is the number of creation – the primal force from which all other numbers spring forth. Some say once you truly understand the place and function of this elemental number, enlightenment will be yours.

This statement doesn’t apply to a Numerologist’s perspective alone, but perhaps it’s a good place to start since the personality of the number 1 aligns nicely with its elevated spiritual symbolism.

The 1 is a doer, a powerful force that produces results.

The 1 is aggressive – a necessary trait for creating, and not allowing anything to limit its potential. The 1 is the spearhead, always in the forefront directing and leading others.

The shape of this number reflects its meaning; the 1 walks upright with pride and purpose – strong, determined, and unwavering with a specific goal in mind. The 1 is capable of turning ideas into reality – pushing obstacles aside or simply drilling right through them.

The 1 tends to have a simple, straightforward view of life, heedless of its many complexities.

An individual with the dynamic 1 trusts their ability to separate right from wrong, doesn’t waste time on abstract ideas, and rarely follows a path that isn’t in line with their result-oriented goal. The 1 is no preacher, no philosopher, spiritual explorer, nor dreamer – and certainly not an idealist. They are pragmatic, ruthless conquerors, and warriors extraordinaire. The 1 is individualistic and independent to a fault. They will attempt to force their viewpoint on you but have no desire to hear yours.

The 1 can be confrontational, jealous, and exceedingly stubborn, but also courageous and willing to try anything new (with promise) even at great risk. They have a sense of honor and responsibility that demands respect and are the first to defend injustice and hypocrisy.

Page of Swords – Court Card

Impulsiveness; troubles.

A young boy holds up a tiny, baby Fire Dragon on one hand, delight and fascination on his face. Behind him on the wall hangs a great Celtic sword and shield. At his feet lies a rolled scroll, symbolic of a spiritual message. However, the boy does not notice the second baby Fire dragon has set fire to the scroll. Because of his inattention, he does not receive the message. The shield not only represents protection, but personal identity. Knights paint identifying marks on their shields so they would know friend from foe. The sword of strength and defense hangs ready for use. By allowing himself to become obsessed with his new discovery, the boy has failed to be aware of what happens around him. Small events (the second little dragon) can cause destruction if one does not remain alert.

Divinatory Meaning: You may have an impulsive desire for new experiences that could cause problems. Be warned of unexpected danger. This card is an advance notice of a troubled period in life.

UILLEAN

Ui (sometimes interpreted as Pe) is Uillean, the Honeysuckle. Associated with the manifestation of will, the Honeysuckle starts as a small seed and creeps along, growing and spreading over time. Honeysuckle twists and spirals up and over its surroundings, its soft yellow flowers releasing a sweet scent. It is the flower of unspoken desire, hidden needs, secret wants, but it also represents our goals of finding our true Self.

From a medicinal standpoint, the honeysuckle can be useful as well. Dioscorides says,

“the ripe seed gathered and dried in the shadow and drunk for four days together, doth waste and consume away the hardness of the spleen and removeth wearisomeness, helpeth the shortness and difficulty of breathing, cureth the hicket (hiccough), etc. A syrup made of the flowers is good to be drunk against diseases of the lungs and spleen.”

Uillean Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: When this symbol appears, it means you need to allow yourself the freedom to pursue your desire. If you’ve got hopes or dreams that are unattained, now is your time to start considering whether they’re remain just dreams, or become reality. Denying yourself the chance to enjoy life is unfair.

Magical Aspects: Take the time to experience joy, but make sure you stay true to your values and beliefs as well. In many Wiccan traditions, the Charge of the Goddess is quoted as a reminder of this: All acts of love and pleasure are my rituals. Another aspect of this symbol is that sometimes, mysteries which seem to be hidden may not be as hard to delve into as you think–sometimes, you’ve just been sidetracked by distractions.

Don’t try and make any further progress right now. Now is not the time to issue a challenge or to take anybody on. Keep a low profile and bide your time while strengthening you resources.

When the Justice comes in a reversed position in a reading it suggests that you might be dishonest with you and others.

You are not accepting the responsibility for your actions and might be trying to blame others for your misdoings.

If this is the case, you have to accept the responsibility for what you did and admit your current situation.

When the Justice comes reversed in a Tarot spread, judgments or court rulings are likely to go against you. The appearance of a reversed Justice card might tell of injustice.

Animal Spirit Guide or Helper

A close look at the praying mantis teaches you many things about your own life. This insect is the picture-perfect image of patience and balance.

This creature inspires you to get your priorities right. The praying mantis knows what it wants to feed on, and how to achieve this goal.

What’s the Praying Mantis Meaning and Symbolism?

#1 – Patience Pays

The praying mantis hunts by stealth. They can stand still for long periods, waiting for the most suitable time to strike.

They are also quite selective in their feeding habits. So, for example, you can never catch a praying mantis feeding on dead insects.

They are patient enough to wait for the right delicacy to come along.

#2 – Prayer and Meditation

The praying mantis always seems to be in a praying position. If this is your spirit animal, you know you’ll get everything you desire through divine intervention.

Remember to tend to your spiritual needs while struggling to make a decent living. Prayer and meditation are powerful tools that can aid you in unlocking your full potential.

#3 – Balance and Harmony

As your spirit guide, the praying mantis urges you to strike the right balance between your desires and your needs.

It will help if you set your priorities right, as this will guide you to use your resources prudently.

#4 – Focus and Concentration

The praying mantis pays rapt attention to its quarry before striking. It has to ensure that the move it executes will be well-spent.

Similarly, this spirit guide calls on you to focus on the crucial aspects of your life. Don’t waste your time and effort on things with no bearing on your future.

#5 – Avoid Procrastination

The praying mantis strikes just at the right moment – not a moment too soon and not a moment too late.

This tells you to acquire the habit of delivering on your mandate without wasting time. Be prompt in carrying out your responsibilities; let others know you keep your word.

When the Praying Mantis is Your Spirit Animal

The praying mantis spirit animal comes into your life to reveal the seer or prophet in you. You have unique gifts that few other people can match.

Your praying mantis spirit animal wants you to understand that these gifts are not for you to keep. Instead, they are meant to enlarge your territories and make the lives of your family and friends easier.

This spirit animal opens your mind’s eye to your healing abilities. As a result, you have been blessed with the ability to spread peace, love, and light.

This is your cue to reach out to those needing your healing.

To fully unleash your potential, you need to take stock of your life and change a few things. So the praying mantis calls on you to contemplate your life.

What do you think needs to change? What should you retain, and what needs modification?

The Praying Mantis Power Animal

The praying mantis power animal is a powerhouse of defense mechanisms. Call on this power guide when you feel under threat.

The Chinese have developed whole martial arts forms based on this insect. For example, it is featured prominently in judo, karate, and Kung Fu.

This tells you that this power animal will help you ward off attacks from all types of invaders. It is your shield against spiritual, emotional, and mental attacks.

The praying mantis power animal also helps you channel your prayers and supplications to heaven. It teaches you to make meditation and prayer part of your worship ritual.

Listen to your intuition and inner wisdom when the praying mantis locates you. You can go wrong when you pay attention to these divine tools.

The Praying Mantis Totem Animal

People born with the praying mantis totem are lucky. If this spirit animal chooses you, it means you’ll get the best possible advice concerning your life.

Identifying with the praying mantis totem means you are well-schooled in the art of stillness. As a result, you appreciate that you don’t have to rush through life.

The praying mantis spirit totem teaches you to move through life at your own pace. Everyone has their own race to run.

You just need to identify yours and focus on it. As long you are moving forward, you are good to go. The question of your pace is neither here nor there; the important thing is to produce stellar results.

Praying Mantis Encounters and Omens

The appearance of a praying mantis is considered a fortunate event in many cultures. An encounter with this insect is believed to cancel out bad luck and replace it with good luck.

Seeing a praying mantis just before you implement an important project means that your plans will succeed resoundingly.

This spirit animal is a good omen. It alerts you of the routes and places you should avoid not to fall into danger.

An encounter with a praying mantis in your doorway or window reminds you to be grateful for the blessings in your life.

This insect opens your mind’s eye to all the good things in your life. So take a moment every day to thank your divine guides for their excellent work.

The praying mantis graciously teaches you there is power in prayer.

Mor

Change, shift, the sea, maps, realm of the subconscious, great undercurrents

Tree: Witch hazel (Hamamelis spp.)

Letter: X

“Sea change” is a term for profound or holistic change. Change is the foundation of existence. The interplay of opposing forces creates and destroys ad infinitum. Mor bookends the concept of change introduced by the first Ogham, Beith. The intention that sowed an action reaped a habit, the habit reaped a character, and the character reaped a destiny. The new track in space has been laid and change is inevitable.

When you draw Mor, look for the changes in and around you. These are not necessarily good or bad. Often, drawing this Ogham can mean something as basic as “oh look, the season of Spring is arriving”. Mor doesn’t have to indicate any kind of drama, although it could. Mor calls out to you to look at overarching influences, new factors or people, and to examine the permutations and possibilities of how they affect the environment.

Mor is a bird’s eye view of opposing forces in our lives rather than being upswept by the random forces that weave in and out of our daily existences. Understanding your own subconscious gives you the ability to calmly deal with challenges that come your way. The work you do on understanding yourself is the sails you build on your boat in the great sea of life. You still need to figure out which way the wind is blowing, of course, but knowing a thing or two about your own position, your tendencies, desires, faults, and strengths will give you the power you need to dodge rocks and survive storms.

Beith/Beth

The first letter of the ogham tree alphabet, Beith stands for birch, and corresponds to the letter B. Also called Beth, it represents new beginnings, change, and rebirth. In Celtic legend, the first ogham ever written was Beith, which served as a warning and protective talisman of the god Ogma.

Its symbolism is derived from the birch, a pioneer tree that first repopulated the region after the Ice Age. The symbol has strong associations with spring and the Beltane festival, being the chosen tree for the maypole and the fuel for the Beltane fires. The birch is also associated with Bloddeuwedd, the Welsh goddess of flowers and springtime.

Symbolically, Beith protects one against all harm, physical and spiritual. The birch is also known as the white tree, associating it with purity, and is used for purification and removing bad luck.

Beith

Intention, beginnings, births, pioneer spirit

Birch (Betula spp.)

Letter: B

Well dignified: An intention with good potential. Bravery. Breaking free. Ending bad habits. Getting unstuck. The start of something good. A new way of thinking. An invention or fresh approach. The ability of getting outside yourself and fossilized modes of thinking. Breaking out of the box. Being the change instead of just talking about it.

Humans learn through mimesis, so it is only because of the brave souls willing to put their necks out for change that anything improves in the world. Beith indicates the willingness to follow through with an intention so you can change yourself and your world for the better. At first, it’s possible nobody will follow you, but Beith says you have the courage to get it done.

Every day is a new opportunity to become a better person than you were yesterday, no matter how tiny the improvement. What can you do, even if it is a tiny action or possibly inaction depending on the circumstance, to be kinder, braver, humbler, more honest with yourself, more generous, and more grateful than you were yesterday, last week, last year, or last decade?

Hexagram Twenty – Four / 24

Fu / Return

Thunder regenerates deep within Earth’s womb:
Sage rulers recognized that the end of Earth’s seasonal cycle was also the starting point of a new year and a time for dormancy.
They closed the passes at the Solstice to enforce a rest from commerce and activity.
The ruler himself did not travel.

You have passed this way before but you are not regressing.
This is progress, for the cycle now repeats itself, and this time you are aware that it truly is a cycle.
The return of old familiars is welcome.
You can be as sure of this cycle as you are that seven days bring the start of a new week.
Use this dormancy phase to plan which direction you will grow.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

You are about to experience a rebirth — about to be given another chance, a new lease on life.
You have persevered, gone the distance through an entire cycle — through the Spring of hope or new passion, through a Summer of growth and building, only to be sacrificed like the archetypal Harvest King at the Autumn reaping.
You lie dormant like seed beneath Winter snows now, healing and absorbing new energies in preparation for the new young Spring coming shortly to your life.

The Numerology Meaning of 8: BALANCE & POWER

The most misunderstood number in numerology.

People with strong 8s in their charts often make and lose fortunes more than once during their life.

The 8 doesn’t consider bankruptcy a reason to slow down or feel sorry for themselves – and they usually come out stronger and more success-oriented than before.

Some of the more recognizable traits of the 8 are drive, ambition, authority, efficiency, organization, management, discipline, and control. Individuals with the 8 in their core numbers are goal-oriented, focused, have good judgment, are discriminate, and practical. In short, the 8 is a realist.

Its closest relative is the 1, as both numbers are powerful, have strong leadership skills, and will not shy away from confrontation. While the 1 lacks diplomatic skills and an understanding of human nature (typical traits of the 2), the 8 does exhibit those abilities. This is perhaps the principal reason why the 8 tends to do well in business and authority roles – the military and law enforcement also attract many 8s.

When the 8 appears in your personality profile chart, it indicates the presence of the character traits mentioned earlier as well as the potential to be successful and prosperous. Hence, the reason so many people hope to manipulate their charts by adding one or more 8s.

While the 8 carries enticing gifts, its energy needs to be supported by other numbers for it to flourish. The 4 helps keep an eye on the all-important details, and the 9 keeps the 8 in touch with their humanity.

Be careful what you ask for.

Knight of Chalices – Minor Arcana Court Card

This is a card of proposals and invitations, of socializing, networking, and making new contacts. OCTOPUS

“Practice shapeshifting by altering your physical appearance and mannerisms”

To become adept at shapeshifting, it’s necessary to remain flexible and resilient, and be willing to practice different identities by altering your way of dressing, your hairstyle, your demeanor, and your mannerisms. Particularly focus on your body language and voice qualities. Experiment by first making small changes in any of these aspects and watch what happens. You can also become skilled in modifying your aura (the energy field around you.) by intentionally contracting and expanding it. When you practice these things, sometimes even your friends won’t recognize you. You can even get so good at camouflage that you become invisible to others.

Everyone has numerous personas though which they operate, and you’re no different. It’s a matter of being conscious of those personas and modifying them through the art of shapeshifting. Just like actors do, study other people and notice their mannerisms, clothing styles, and how they walk and carry themselves.. Observe animals and their behaviors, and try to mimic them. Developing this ability can help you more readily adapt to the various situations you encounter, thus enabling you to deal with them more effectively. Let yourself be an actor in your everyday life, and have fun with it. Just remember who you are at the core.

WAVES

The Waves Rune stands for intuition and artistic imagination as well as cloudy perception. In this way, this run stands for self-sacrifice or self-sabotage.

When this rune turns up in a reading, it indicates that the answer is still not clear. Often, the matter of your concern will soon dissipate or phase out with no resolution or closure.

On the positive side, the Waves Rune represents a wellspring of creativity where you are nourished by the power of your own imagination.

Sometimes this rune means that the matter you have asked about depends upon your timing. So what you can imagine can become a reality, as long as you are willing to clarify and follow through.

Huath/Uathe

H is for Huath, or Uatha, and is symbolic of the Hawthorn tree. This prickly-thorned tree is associated with cleansing, protection and defense. Tie a thorn with a red ribbon and use it as a protective amulet in your home, or place a bundle of thorns under a baby’s crib to keep bad energy away. Because the Hawthorn typically blooms around Beltane, it is also strongly connected with fertility, masculine energy, and fire.

In folklore, the Hawthorn is associated with the land of the Fae. Thomas the Rhymer met the Faerie Queen under a Hawthorn tree and ended up in the Faerie realm for seven years. Despite its connection with female and goddess-centered pre-Christian belief, it’s considered unlucky to bring Hawthorn into your home. This may stem from the fact that some species of Hawthorn give off a particularly unpleasant –almost corpse-like–scent after they’ve been cut. No one wants their home to smell like death.

In Glastonbury, England, there’s a famous Hawthorn tree known as the Holy Thorn. The tree that stands there today is supposed to be a descendant of one that stood on Glastonbury Tor two thousand years ago, when Joseph of Arimathea brought the Grail to England from the Holy Land. When Joseph thrust his staff into the ground, it turned into a Hawthorn tree.

Birch Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: If you’re hoping to conceive a child, the appearance of Huath could be fortuitous. In addition to fertility, consider this a sign of protection, healthfulness and self-defense.

Magical Aspects: Understand that no matter how thorny a problem may be, you can use your spiritual strength to protect and guide you. You may also find that you can provide strength to those who depend on you.

Three

THE CREATIVE CHILD

The Love Child of Zeus and Hera.

Charm, wit and a sense of humor help a 3 along their path, and a compelling charisma make them particularly attractive.

Followers are willing to forgive less favorable traits exhibited by 3s, such as their lack of focus and direction, a tendency to procrastinate, an inability to finish projects, and an unwillingness to take responsibility.

There is also a superficial side to the 3 that can be harder to look past – a narcissistic streak, the need to be the center of attention. It’s easy for the optimistic 3 to enjoy day-to-day life as long as all is well, but when challenging issues arise, internal fortitude is often lacking.

Without little focus on deeper aspects, the 3 can succumb to difficulties unless friends and family provide support.

For the 3 to become a balanced, happy person they must learn discipline. Fortunate 3s who exhibit talent early in life (such as gifted dancers and music prodigies) are often placed in environments with just the sort of discipline a 3 needs to protect those talents.

Relationships can be a bit of a challenge for the 3, at least those requiring long-term commitment and loyalty. With plenty of acquaintances (probably more than is healthy), when true depth and intimacy enter the picture, the 3 may turn tail and run.

The 3 can have a jealous streak too, causing conflicts when those it has rejected move on in search of more meaningful bonds.

Jealousy stems from the 3 recognizing it has been skimming the surface of life since birth. As a result, they feel insecure, thinking others know things that have escaped them.

But, once a 3 finds the motivation to delve deeply into the realities of life (something that may only happen when confronted), its happy facade has the potential to be replaced by the serenity true wisdom brings. Such a “transformed” 3 is a thing to behold.

No one is represented by just one number but is a mixture of several if not all the numbers in their chart. Those who are blessed with a heavy dose of 3s in their numerology chart tend to have an easier time being happy, optimistic, and playful.

However, this kind of “joie de vivre” can leave those same people unprepared for the more demanding experiences that life inevitably brings.

While the western mindset focuses on happy moments as the ideal, unhappy experiences are often the ones that bring greater depth and quality to our life.

For the number 3, happiness might be easy to achieve, but is almost always a consequence of something materialistic or fleeting (a new car, a new relationship, a sunny day). A higher happiness, one that is not the consequence of a particular event but the result of a deep appreciation toward life itself, is worth a million times more.

The biggest challenge for the 3 is to recognize the real beauty of life is not found in possessions or frivolity, but in the deepest aspects of being human.

When the 3 defies the odds to achieve this state of being, the fact that it has had to travel far to reach such a height makes this number uniquely qualified to help others reach the same goal.

Beith, or Beth, corresponds to the letter B in the alphabet, and is associated with the Birch tree. When this symbol is used, it is representative of new beginnings, change, release, and rebirth. In some traditions, it also has connections with purification.

Birch trees are hardy. They’ll grow just about anywhere, including on bare soil. Because they tend to grow in clusters, what may be just one or two seedlings now can be practically an entire forest in a few decades. In addition to being a sturdy sort of tree, the Birch is useful. In days gone by, it was used for infants’ cradles, and is still harvested today to make cabinets and furniture.

From a magical perspective, there are a number of uses for Birch. The branches are traditionally incorporated into the construction of a besom, and are used for the bristles. Use the white outer bark in ritual in place of paper or parchment–just be sure you only harvest the bark from a fallen Birch tree, not a living one. Ancient herbalists discovered that various parts of this tree can be used for medicinal purposes. Bark was once brewed into a tea to fight fevers, and the leaves were used alternately as a laxative and a diuretic, depending on how they were prepared.

Beith Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: When this symbol appears, it means it’s time to get rid of all those negative influences you’ve been carrying around with you. Figure out what things are bad in your life, which relationships are toxic, and find a way to leave them behind. Instead of being dragged down by the negative, focus on the positive things you have in your life, the blessings and abundance. Use these things as a focus, rather than the harmful or damaging ones.

Magical Aspects: Consider the property of renewal and rebirth, as demonstrated by the Birch. Use this as a tool for spiritual and emotional regrowth, and developing your own ability to regenerate where there has been emptiness or devastation.

Hexagram Twenty-Five/25

Wu Wang / Innocence (The Unexpected)

The Judgement

Innocence. Supreme success.
Perseverance furthers.
If someone is not as he should be,
He has misfortune,
And it does not further him
To undertake something.

The Image

Under heaven thunder rolls:
All things attain the natural state of innocence.
Thus the kings of old,
Rich in virtue, and in harmony with the time,
Fostered and nourished all beings.

The Lines

These texts apply only for the lines that were marked, when the hexagram was cast. Note that the lines are counted from the bottom up.

The bottom line marked means:

Innocent behavior brings good fortune.

The 2nd line marked means:

If one does not count on the harvest while plowing,
Nor on the use of the ground while clearing it,
It furthers one to undertake something.

The 3rd line marked means:

Undeserved misfortune.
The cow that was tethered by someone
Is the wanderer’s gain, the citizen’s loss.

The 4th line marked means:

He who can be persevering
Remains without blame.

The 5th line marked means:

Use no medicine in an illness
Incurred through no fault of your own.
It will pass of itself.

The top line marked means:

Innocent action brings misfortune.
Nothing furthers.

The interpretations above and comments below are from Richard Wilhelm’s version of the I CHING.

Comments on the Hexagram

Ch’ien, heaven is above; Chên, movement, is below. The lower trigram Chên is under the influence of the strong line it has received form above, from heaven. When, in accord with this, movement follows the law of heaven, man is innocent and without guile. His mind is natural and true, unshadowed by reflection or ulterior designs. For wherever conscious purpose is to be seen, there the truth and innocence of nature have been lost. Nature that is not directed by the spirit is not true but degenerate nature. Starting out with the idea of the natural, the train of thought in part goes somewhat further and thus the hexagram includes also the idea of the fundamental or unexpected.

The Judgement

Man has received from heaven a nature innately good, to guide him in all his movements. By devotion to this divine spirit within himself, he attains an unsullied innocence that leads him to do right with instinctive sureness and without any ulterior thought of reward and personal advantage. This instinctive certainty brings about supreme success and ‘furthers through perseverance”. However, not everything instinctive is nature in this higher sense of the word, but only that which is right and in accord with the will of heaven. Without this quality of rightness, an unreflecting, instinctive way of acting brings only misfortune. Confucius says about this: “He who departs from innocence, what does he come to? Heaven’s will and blessing do not go with his deeds.”

The Image

In springtime when thunder, life energy, begins to move again under the heavens, everything sprouts and grows, and all beings receive for the creative activity of nature the childlike innocence of their original state. So it is with the good rulers of mankind: drawing on the spiritual wealth at their command, they take care of all forms of life and all forms of culture and do everything to further them, and at the proper time.

Lü / Worrying the Tiger

Heaven shines down on the Marsh which reflects it back imperfectly:
Though the Superior Man carefully discriminates between high and low, and acts in accord with the flow of the Tao, there are still situations where a risk must be taken.

You tread upon the tail of the tiger.
Not perceiving you as a threat, the startled tiger does not bite.
Success.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

You have reached a perilous point in your journey.
This is a real gamble — not a maneuver, not a calculated risk.
The outcome is uncertain.
If it goes as you hope, you will gain — but if it turns against you it will cause serious injury, at least to your plans.
The best tack is extreme caution and a healthy respect for the danger involved.

Butterfly

Every person has their guardian spirit animal. An energy that is assigned to them and that is responsible for a person’s well-being and good luck.

During ancient times, people believed that universal force that was preserved in an animal form and was not seen by the normal human eye was a blessing that came from the heavenly realms itself.

Tribes had spirit animals that guarded them and represented their powers. Magicians, people who were practicing spirituality and were deeply connected to nature, always had their power animal – a divine force that helped them to create most of out of life experiences.

It is important to mention, that there are all types of spirit animals and they differ from each other drastically. Some represent authority, some represent docile caring nature and they all have their virtues and merits.

Once you understand the very personal traits of each spirit animal, you will be able to work on establishing a connection with it. Once the tie is entrenched and you feel very close to your spirit animal’s energy, you will feel how strong and unbreakable you can become.

Want to attract good fortune and pleasant experiences in life? Then connecting to a spirit animal will help you to gain that power over your destiny.

Butterfly as a spirit animal represents transformation, the joy of life, and pure love.

Meaning and Symbolism of the Butterfly as Spirit Animal

The butterfly symbolizes constant renewal and metamorphosis, it flies through the sunny fields and seeks joy and happiness. It’s a great symbol of inner and outer beauty and divine power.

Even if a butterfly looks fragile at a first glance, it still might be the strongest and most resilient spirit animal, because of its ability to go through heavy transformation phases. To embrace the change, a huge amount of inner energy is needed, and for the process to be successful, you need to be very patient with yourself. That is what a butterfly as a spirit animal is all about – finding enough inner strength to not give up and calmly go through important lifetime transformations and find the joy of renewal during this interval.

The butterfly as a spirit animal is often associated with harmony and balance. They always bring delight to people around them and it’s a good luck charm in its special way.

This spirit animal is hope, it is a sign of light at the end of the tunnel – anticipation that no matter how hard life gets, you will always make it through it and achieve what you desired.

Also, people who possess the energy of the butterfly spirit animal, are often very receptive to others’ beautiful qualities. The butterfly is a sign of charm and allure so, pleasant aesthetics is always closely tied with the butterfly spirit animal. People that have a butterfly as their spirit animal are very attentive towards others’ notable qualities. They can see the good in the negative and always point out the best traits in their friends and individuals around them.

In various cultures, butterflies were often associated with pure love that emerges from kind hearts and creates an indestructible union between two people.

“the ripe seed gathered and dried in theshadow and drunk for four days together, doth waste and consume away the hardness of the spleen and removeth wearisomeness, helpeth the shortness and difficulty of breathing, cureth the hicket (hiccough), etc.
