The Perfect Magickal Spells for Your Sunday

The Perfect Magickal Spells for Your Sunday

Finally, it’s Sunday, the official day of rest. Not only do Christians acknowledge this day, but I’m sure many pagans appreciate this day, as well. Everyone needs rest and a lot of people need a good day to worship their creator(whomever or whatever that may be), however they deem fit to do so. With the Sun being the central theme of many ancient rituals, Sunday just seems to fit, in name and theory. Not only is it a good day to worship, it seems good to do more relaxed spells, such as sleep, dream, and rebirth.

A Spell for While you Sleep

You will need the following items for this spell:

Four lengths of appropriately coloured ribbon
which can be easily tied
Four pins
Your bed

Knot magic has a particular effect in ‘binding’ or fixing a spell in place and with the addition of colour it is possible to use ribbons to bring about a desired outcome. By using your own bed as a focus, your magical work can be done while you sleep. This is a very personal way of working and one which can bring particularly positive results.

If your bed has bedposts, simply knot a length of the correct colour ribbon for your purpose around each post.

Each time you do this, say:

With this knot of coloured ribbon

Bring to me the power hidden. Grant me that right Throughout this night.

If your bed has no posts then carefully pin the knotted ribbon to each corner using the same words.
Each night for two further nights touch each ribbon knot in turn and repeat the words above.

Leave the ribbons in place until you no longer feel the need for them. You can expect to have some fairly vivid dreams over the following three nights, which may help you to develop the qualities you seek. This spell allows your unconscious self to work in a protected space without the chatter of day to day matters.

To Protect a Sleeping Mind

You will need the following items for this spell:

Voice

Sleep is the time of dreams and visits. The following incantation repeated aloud at one’s bedtime will aid in the discouraging of unwanted visitors in the dreaming mind.

Before retiring for the night, repeat the following incantation aloud:

”Spirits of the night, I beseech thee,

Find favor with mine call and plea,

Draw close and circle round

Mine mind I clear and lend to sleep.

That sleep will use to rest the weary world

Let not the world and those unfavorable things within it

Visit upon mine mind unheralded

Uninvited visitors be sent away

Turned back

Turned back to the dark depths

Turned back to the sender whose name is never spoken

That thus he may gain strength

Gain strength and threaten those unable

Unable or unknowing

Unknowing or innocent

Innocents in the world

Sleeping as I sleep

Spirits of the night, I beseech thee,

Find favor with mine call and plea

Find favor and protect mine mind

Find favor and protect the innocents”.

This is best repeated nightly so as to protect ones mind and allow peaceful sleep and promote quiet dreams.

To Drive Away Bad Dreams

You will need the following items for this spell:

Bowl of warm water
Salt
Your chosen sprigs of herbs
String

This spell uses herbal magick and correspondences to clear the bedroom of negative influence. It is often a good idea to use material that is easily available, so you might use sprigs of rosemary, sage, Lady’s bedstraw, maize silks or broom-corn. Since you want something taken away you should perform this magical working as the Moon wanes.

Dissolve the salt in the warm water.

Tie the herbs together.

Dip the sprigs in the water and sprinkle the corners of the room with the water.

Use the sprigs to sprinkle the salt water on your bedclothes, and particularly round the head and foot of the bed.

When you have done this, place the herbs under your pillow, or if you prefer, under the middle of the bed.

The next morning, discard the herbs at a crossroads if you can, either by burying them or allowing them to disperse to the four winds. Otherwise ensure that you have carried them well away from your home.
This carries all negativity away from your bedroom and bed. This spell uses rosemary which brings clarity, sage for wisdom, ladies bedstraw which is said to have lined the manger at Christs birth, and broom corn, which is used in worship of the Mexican goddess Chicomecohuatl. All these herbs bring cleansing, not just of the room but also of the occupants aura or subtle energy. On the basis that one should always replace negative with positive, you may like to use the following technique to bring about positive dreams.

Having prepared your environment, this next technique is of most use when there is a strong, deeply felt association with the issue or request being considered in magical terms, ideal conditions for spell working. It is like being able to consult an encyclopedia that contains a wealth of information in fact, the Higher Self.

Open Chats, Esbat or Sabbat Gathering Will be Returning, Along With the WOTC School of Witchcraft

I had a busy second half of 2020 and most of 2021 with moving and huge changes in my personal life. I also want to be totally honest here part of the reason I was not holding gatherings and open chats is I was allowing my anxiety disorder as a wall to hide behind and an excuse not to do what I should be doing not only for those who study witchcraft with me but all of you as well. The only huge thing happening this year is my regular wedding on May 13th and then our Handfasting on November 28th. Giving me more time to devote to all the fingers of WOTC that I run completely on my own. Any donations to help with cost of keeping WOTC going would be greatly appreciated as the hours I put in per week is equivalent to a full-time job. Even reading more posts per day would help raise the small amount, around $100.00 USD, I receive from PayPal for the ads that appear on all the different posts. As you can tell I am doing this as a labor of love and wanting to bust the stereotypes history and mass media has given us all to endure. To help people realize that a witch could be their likeable, next-door neighbor, a kind and giving person. Instead of thinking we all do animal scarifies, curse and/or hex people, and as you know the stereotype goes on and on and on.

Besides all the daily posts which take me about five hours every day I will be publishing a mini magazine every month and get back to having either a Sabbath (on whatever day it falls on and includes a ritual for the southern and northern hemispheres) or Esbats (on a Saturday or Sunday whenever the date falls within 3 days of the date of the full or new Moon) open (coven) gatherings monthly, and also a monthly open chat on the 3rd Saturday of every month starting Saturday, February 19,2022 . If anyone knows of a reasonably priced chatroom website that I can set up a private chat room in, please let me know as soon as possible. I plan on us being able to gather on Wednesday, February 1, 2022, for the Imbolc/Lammas Sabbat. Time to be announced as soon as I figure out a good time for our sisters and brothers from Australia and Europe to be able to join us. I get confused sometimes with the 17 hours plus international date line for Australia time and 7 hours difference for Europe. I tell my fiancée it is no wonder I cannot keep straight what day it is with working with 6 different time zones and the international dateline every day…lol. Writing a new ritual for every Sabbat or Esbat takes me between 2 to 3 hours as I test how easy or hard it is to do with only having a typed page of instructions. What would think of me videotaping the ritual in advance and posting it a day or two before the gathering, so you have something else to follow for it? I should let you know I will be recording it via my cellphone because I have no other way to do it, so it will be a learning curve for me to do this. Adding even more time to my work schedule but that is fine if at least 10 people think it would help them to follow the ritual on the night of the gathering.

I will be restarting WOTC School of Witchcraft with courses starting on February 3rd and August 3rd. I will start the novice and adept courses twice a year and every lesson will have a specific due date. Of course, if there is an illness in your family or another emergency arises, I will work with you on extending your current lessons due date by 7 days. Always remember your health, well-being and family are more important than sticking to a due date for a lesson. Besides getting lessons in on time the other two most important things to do are to check in with me weekly, a simple “Hi” is all that you would need to email me, and to read 1 post 4 days a week including leaving a comment on it, so I know you read the post.

The novice course includes 18 lessons, all gatherings, and 1 on 1 help from me if needed. The novice course is to be completed within 1 year and 1 day which starts when you receive a reply from your first lesson. The cost for this course is $30.00 USD. The next novice course will begin on February 3, 2022.

The adept/intermediate course includes for the first year 10 written lessons, all gatherings, you will be responsible for writing and leading one Esbats and one Sabbaths gathering. You will also be the moderator for 4 open chats and 1 one 1 help from me. Your second year is a time we will explore the pagan/witchcraft/spiritual path that you want to walk. This course is 2 years and 1 day long and starts when your novice course time is through. I do accept students entering at this level of study after the person fills out a questionnaire so I can gage your level of knowledge. The cost for this course is $50.00 USD.

For more information about either course please email at ladybeltane@aol.com. Please put “School” in the subject line. I will be posting an outline for the lessons in each course by the evening of Sunday, January 12th.

To receive a copy of the new mini-magazine, Life in The Craft, go to the Daily Posts and look for ‘Free ‘Life in The Craft’ Monthly Mini-Magazine Coming Straight to Your Emails Inbox’, for all the information about it. I am figuring out this is going to add at least 5 more hours a week to my work for WOTC. I want to give a huge thank Kari for volunteering to edit Life in The Craft. She is a professional editor so I know the things I write for the mini magazine will come to you easier to read without all my oops in it.

Any questions or comments about anything in this post please put it in the Comments section below because someone else might be wondering about the same thing you are. Thank you!

Until we meet again soon blessed be dear Sisters, brothers, and guests.

Printable Full Moon Affirmation

Thank you for everything.

All my needs are met in all areas of my life.

I have all that I need while walking towards what I desire to have in my life.

I release thoughts, worries, fears, attachments, relationships, situations, and all that doesn’t serve my Higher Purpose or Higher Self.

And so it is.

A Thought for Today

Blessed be dear sisters and brothers. Have a sensational Sunday!

Winds of Change

This is more of a spell to release anger and stress, but isn’t that the first step to becoming more happy? Your supplies:

• A windy day
• A hill
• Basil
• Patchouli

Well, it’s not mandatory that you have a hill for this, but you do need an open area outside for happiness spells like this. It does need to be windy.

Take your herbs to your chosen spot, and face away from the wind (so it’s blowing on your back). Toss the herbs in the air and visualize your problems being blown away. Repeat the following:

May the winds take my pain
Make me happy once again

Then turn around and face the wind. Say:

May the winds bring joy to me
So that happy I will be

For Your Viewing Pleasure – Appalachia Mountain Roots Plants and Herbs

This is an interesting series by Donnie Law about the Appalachian Mountain people in the eastern USA. Included in this area is where Lady Abyss was from in Kentucky, USA. So, I always think of her when I am watching one of these videos.

Appalachia Mountain Roots Plants and Herbs

Appalachia – From Wikipedia

This article is about the region in the United States. For other uses, see Appalachia (disambiguation).

Appalachia (/ˌæpəˈlæə, lə, lʃə/) is a cultural region in the Eastern United States that stretches from the Southern Tier of New York State to northern Alabama and Georgia.[1] While the Appalachian Mountains stretch from Belle Isle in Canada to Cheaha Mountain in Alabama, Appalachia typically refers only to the cultural region of the central and southern portions of the range, from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia southwest to the Great Smoky Mountains. As of the 2010 United States Census, the region was home to approximately 25 million people.[2]

Since its recognition as a distinctive region in the late 19th century, Appalachia has been a source of enduring myths and distortions regarding the isolation, temperament, and behavior of its inhabitants. Early 20th century writers often engaged in yellow journalism focused on sensationalistic aspects of the region’s culture, such as moonshining and clan feuding, and often portrayed the region’s inhabitants as uneducated and prone to impulsive acts of violence. Sociological studies in the 1960s and 1970s helped to re-examine and dispel these stereotypes.[3]

While endowed with abundant natural resources, Appalachia has long struggled economically and been associated with poverty. In the early 20th century, large-scale logging and coal mining firms brought wage-paying jobs and modern amenities to Appalachia, but by the 1960s the region had failed to capitalize on any long-term benefits[4] from these two industries. Beginning in the 1930s, the federal government sought to alleviate poverty in the Appalachian region with a series of New Deal initiatives, such as the construction of dams to provide cheap electricity and the implementation of better farming practices. On March 9, 1965, the Appalachian Regional Commission[5] was created to further alleviate poverty in the region, mainly by diversifying the region’s economy and helping to provide better health care and educational opportunities to the region’s inhabitants. By 1990, Appalachia had largely joined the economic mainstream but still lagged behind the rest of the nation in most economic indicators.[3]

Gathering Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR ALL GATHERINGS AND OPEN CHATS

No matter what spiritual path you follow or the type of Witchcraft you practice, except dark practitioners, are welcome to join us for our Open Chats, Esbat and Sabbat gatherings. The Sabbat gatherings celebrate both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres Sabbat. Look at the banner on the right side of the page for information on upcoming Magickal Hearts Coven’s events, they are all held via Skype. You can join us by audio or video call or just by listening and typing in your message or response.

The main guideline for when we are gathered on Skype or anywhere else for any reason is the Wicce Rede “An’ ye harm none, do what ye will.”

No one will be allowed to use foul, rude, racist, hurtful, hateful, or gender bashing language at any time during any type of gathering. Anyone not following this guideline will be kicked out of the gatherings immediately and blocked forever.

This is not a dating site! If you attempt to hook up with someone or use sexually suggestive language towards anyone else at the gathering, you will be kicked out and blocked forever.

During Esbat and Sabbat gatherings all conversations will cease 1 minute before the sacred circle is cast until the sacred circle has been closed.

During Esbat and Sabbat gatherings no one may leave the circle without permission from the person leading it. If you leave the sacred circle for any reason, except if the electronic device you are using to attend disconnects you, we ask that you do not reenter the sacred circle.

When attending a Sabbat gathering, we ask that you stay for both hemispheres’ rituals.

Once the circle starts all socializing and/or comments about the rituals must stop unless you see the word “EVERYONE” in the ritual.  You will get one warning if you break this guideline. If you break it a second time you will be asked to and expected to leave the gathering immediately. There will be no exceptions to this guideline as it is rude to the person or persons leading the ritual (s). If you do not leave you will be taken out of the gathering by Lady Beltane. If this happens again at another gathering you will be permanently banned for attending any Magickal Hearts Coven Gatherings, there are no exceptions to this.

No one should enter or leave the chat room from the time the sacred circle is cast until the sacred circle is closed. To enter or leave the chat room (computer knocking you out of the chat room during this time is the only exception for re-entering the circle) during this time breaks the circle and whoever is leading the circle needs to take their time and energy to close it up again.

All electronics in the room you are in during the gathering should be shut off except for the device you are using to access the gathering. As the energy raised during the circle can possibly do minor or major damage to other devices.

Everyone attending an Esbat and/or Sabbat gathering is welcome to stay after the circle is done to visit with the others and/or offer other ideas for the ritual performed at that gathering.

These are simple guidelines and show courtesy to all people attending the gatherings and those leading them. Not obeying all the guidelines could get you banned from all Magickal Hearts Coven gatherings and open chats for life.

Any questions about the guidelines and/or anything to do with Magickal Hearts Coven, the Open Chats, Witches of The Craft’s School of Witchcraft, Esbat and/or Sabbat gatherings can be emailed to Lady Beltane at ladybeltane@aol.com. All emails will be answered as soon as possible after receiving it.

If you are applying to be a student or coven member include this phrase “In perfect love and perfect trust.” in the application email so we know you have read the entire handbook.

All lessons and spells are Copyright 1980-2025© by Lady Beltane. They cannot be reprinted or reposted without authors expressed written permission.

We do not write spells or do spells or hexes or curses or rituals or any other type of magick for anyone so please do not email us asking us to do any of these. If you do your email will wind up in Spam and then deleted.

A Gorgeous Ritual for Tonight’s Magic

  1. Light any of the following scents/incenses: Clove, Eucalyptus, Lilac, Musk seed, Nutmeg, Sage, Sandalwood. These herbs and oils help activate the psychic nature of tonight’s Moon in Pisces.
  2. Invoke the open-minded energy of the Fish with this chant:
“Like the stars above, I’m in a constant and fluid movement.
I explore and develop my spirituality like a smart and diligent student”.
  3. Take a piece of paper. Write in clear letters your deepest wish. Don’t overthink. Instead, just start writing. Visualize your idea of a perfect future and write it down in the present tense. The First Quarter Moon is a time of abundance and growth, so think BIG! Be clear and precise, whether it’s a love request, a money target, or just a dream to work towards.
  4. Light a white candle on your altar. Place it next to your petition and leave it there.
  5. Next to your candle, place a Black Tourmaline, Sapphire, or Amethyst. These crystals are great for Saturdays, they will absorb the energy of tonight’s moon and release it gently during the next few days.
  6. Meditate for a while. Then take the paper and paste it in your diary, Book of Mirrors, or (optionally) hide it in a secret place.

Celebrating Legends, Folklore and Spirituality 365 Days a Year for January 7 – Saint Distaff’s Day

January 7

Saint Distaff’s Day

In southern England, Saint Distaff’s Day was when work began again after the Christmas holiday. Saint Distaff’s Day was not a saint’s day at all, but rather a tongue-in-check commemoration of the day on which women returned to their distaffs of unspun wool.
