Goddess – Circa (Greek)

Circa (Greek) c. 2011 Lady Abyss

“She-Falcon”.  Dark Moon Goddess; Fate-Spinner.  As the circle, or cirque, she was the fate-spinner, weaver of destinies.  Ancient Greek writers spoke of her as Circe of the Braided Tresses because she could manipulate the forces of creation and destruction by knots and braids in her hair.  Goddess of physical love, sorcery, enchantments, precognitive dreams, evil spells, vengeance, dark magic, witchcraft and cauldrons.

Circe

From greekgodsandgoddesses.net

In GREEK MYTHOLOGY, Circe was a goddess of magic, though she was sometimes depicted as a nymph (minor nature god), a witch or an enchantress.

In any case, she was associated with magic. She knew a lot about potions and herbs, and sometimes used this knowledge against her enemies and people who offended her, turning them into wild animals. She also had a wand or staff called the rhabdos which she also used to channel her magic. In fact, this was the earliest mention of a “magical wand or staff” in Western writings; it was referred to in Homer’s epic poem, the Odyssey, when Circe used it to turn Odysseus’s men into beasts.

Circe was the daughter of HELIOS, a TITAN who represented the Sun, and Perse, an ocean nymph. She was one of three thousand of her kind, daughters of TITANS OCEANUS and TETHYS. In another version, Circe was the daughter of HECATE, a goddess of sorcery.

She had two brothers. One was named Aeetes, and he looked after the GOLDEN FLEECE, a fleece that was the property of royalty. It was made from the wool of a golden ram with wings. Her second brother was PERSES.

PASIPHAE was her only sister, and she was the queen of the Greek island, CRETE, and also the wife of King Minos. It was also said that she gave birth to the MINOTAUR, a creature that was half man, half bull, with the head and horns of a cattle and the body of a man.

In some stories, Circe was exiled by her father Helios to live alone on AEAEA, a fictional island, as punishment for killing the prince of COLCHIS, who was her husband at the time.

She later had children with ODYSSEUS, the king of ITHACA from Homer’s writings. Her three sons were Ardeas, Latinus and Telegonus.

Spell for Today – A Orange Money Spell

Pierce a large navel orange with a needle, making the pattern of a dollar sign. Insert a clove in each of the piercings. Wrap the orange using green, silver, and gold ribbons in between the rows of cloves. At the top, make a loop of the three ribbons. Decorate the base with a favored crystal. Bless this little token for improved finances, then hang it in a window to release its scented energy with every breeze. When the aroma of the orange fades (the fruit will shrink as it dries), simply anoint it with essential oils for a refreshed fragrance.

General Uses

Financial improvement or stability. Improved cash flow and resources. Prosperity.

Timing:

The month of April. Full and blue moons. Moon in Taurus, Virgo, Aquarius, or Pisces. Sunday

Goddess of the Day – Hecate or Hekate

Hecate or Hekate

Then the earth began to bellow

And howling dogs in glimmering light advance

Ere Hekate came

-Aeneid, Book VL

Greek Queen of the Night, Goddess of Witchcraft and the Underworld. Hecate can change shapes or ages at will and has the power to rejuvenate or kill.

The daughter of Perses and Asteria, she represents the oldest Greek form of the Triple Goddess. Her powers extend over heaven and the underworld, the earth and the sea. She is sometimes represented with three heads – one of a horse, one of a dog and one of a bear, or one of a dog, snake and lion.

As Hecate of the Three Ways, her images stood at three-way crossroads where offerings of dogs, honey and black ewes were left on Full Moon Nights. In the realm of nature she is honored as Selene, the moon, in Heaven. She is honored as Artemis, the huntress, on Earth and as Hecate, the destroyer, in the Underworld. She is also the Goddess of prophecy, charms, vengeance, wisdom, choices and regeneration and is often accompanied by a pack of black, baying hounds or the three-headed dog, Cerberus.

Moon Signs

Just as the sun does, the moon travels through the constellations of stars that we call the zodiac; or astrological signs. Whereas the sun take a year to travel through them all, spending approximately thirty days in  each sign, the moon usually spends two and a half days in a sign, thus  passing through the whole zodiac in approximately one lunar month. Does the moon actually travel through these signs? No, of course not. It appears to do so from our vantage point on Earth, however.

Each sign has a different personality that affects the lunar (or solar) energy when the luminary is passing through it. For example, if your spell is to help you meet new people, then you might choose to cast it when the moon is in the sign of Libra, the sign associated with social issues.  The lunar energy you use to power your spell will be enhanced with Libran energy. Here’s a list of correspondences for the signs of the Zodiac. The correspondences are applicable to the moon, and of course to the sun as well:

  • Aries   energy is good for new beginnings and action

  • Taurus   energy is good for manifestation

  • Gemini   energy is excellent for communication and intellectual pursuits

  • Cancer   energy is associated with family and the home

  • Leo   energy is good for success

  • Virgo   energy is organized and practical

  • Libra   energy is terrific for social issues

  • Scorpio   energy is passionate and just

  • Sagittarius   energy is associated with study

  • Capricorn   energy is stable and good for business issues

  • Aquarius   energy is excellent for issues involving groups of people

  • Pisces energy is associated with mysticism and spiritual evolution

Weekly Horoscope Sunday, August 29 to Saturday, September 4, 2021

All Signs

Here’s the skinny on Mercury retrograde: Three times a year, Mercury “appears” to go backwards relative to planet Earth. There are also two shadow periods: beforehand, as it slows down; and afterwards, as it catches up to the degree it was when it went retrograde. Do we care? Yes! These are poor times to buy Mercury-related items: cars, trucks, bikes, computers, cell phones and printers. They are also poor times to initiate anything. Howevah! Mercury retrograde encourages introspection and it helps us finish old business. In two weeks, Mercury will slow down before going retrograde at the end of the month. This is a heads up for anyone who wants to begin something new. Remember: “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.” And for the procrastinators: So is tomorrow.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

This is a productive week for you because both the Sun and your ruler Mars will help you get a lot done. “Oorah!” In fact, you’ll be so busy accomplishing things, you will start delegating to others. Midweek, you might feel less energetic for 48 hours. You might be confused about your motivation; or perhaps your energy will feel low. Whatever the case, don’t worry about this because it’s temporary. This is a lovely week to deal with those who are closest to you because your exchanges with others will be spontaneous. Warm feelings will abound because both Mercury and Venus are opposite your sign. This is your week to work hard and party hard!

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Lucky you! This week you’re in play mode! Grab every chance to enjoy the company of others and explore social outings including playful activities with kids. Sports events will appeal. If you are in competitive sports events, know that in midweek you might feel less energetic. This might also be a confusing time for romance. Of course, all is not “play and no work” – you will be very hands-on when it comes to your job. In part, this is because coworkers are supportive. In fact, some of them are so supportive, a work-related romance will begin. Meanwhile, your public reputation continues to shine in the eyes of others. You rock!

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Some kind of chaotic or demanding situation at home requires your attention. Be aware of what’s going on because there might be an element of confusion, especially midweek. Take care of what you can and focus on the needs of a parent (if appropriate). Meanwhile, Mercury and Venus will attract many opportunities for playful outings, socializing, sports events, fun activities with kids and opportunities to enjoy the arts and the entertainment world. Fun possibilities for this week! Look for opportunities to travel or explore avenues in education, the media, publishing and anything to do with medicine and the law because these are the areas that favour you this year.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Your fast-pace continues! Not only are you keen to learn new information about something (this is a great time to study); you want to enlighten people about what you know. You’re enthusiastic something. Be aware that you might encounter some kind of hesitation or confusion that makes you second guess yourself. Meanwhile, issues at home are positive. You’re interested in DIY projects and repairs at home as well as redecorating. You also want to entertain at home. Family discussions might take place this week. If so, someone has your back because relations with family members are mutually beneficial right now.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Money continues to be a major focus for you. Money, earnings, cash flow, and also your possessions. This might also involve a major purchase? Be careful midweek because of on Wed. and Thurs., you might be confused about something. If this is the case, do not act. Don’t make a financial error on a bad hunch. Your urge to communicate to others is strong now. This is why you’re eager to talk to siblings, relatives, neighbours and friends. This same influence will make you just as eager to read and learn new information, or write and share information with others. So much to do! So little time. Continue to look for ways to make money from your words because they exist!

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

This continues to be a powerful time for you because the Sun is in your sign along with feisty Mars. This gives you energy! Admittedly, midweek around Wed.-Thurs., you might be confused about something and not sure whether or not to act push your agenda. If you have doubts – do nothing. Better safe than sorry. Meanwhile, Mercury and Venus are in your Money House, which is good news! Trust your moneymaking ideas and be confident in your financial negotiations with others. When shopping, you will want to buy pretty things for yourself and others. Also, you will tend to attract money to you, which is why this is a good time for negotiations because you will might up feeling richer!

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Messages are coming your way this week. Both the Sun and Mars will encourage you to keep a low profile, and work alone or behind the scenes. (Same as last week.) However, Mercury in your sign makes you eager to talk to others. You have something to say! Furthermore, with Venus in your sign, you feel more sociable and friendly with everyone. In fact, this week is the perfect time to make peace with others, especially if you have been at odds or fighting. Or perhaps, you will act as a go-between to help others? Of course, this kind of role is your metier – you excel at bringing people with differing views to the point where they find a common ground. You are the peacemaker.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

This continues to be a popular time for you, which is why people will seek you out. Someone might want your advice. Almost certainly, you will take a leadership role in a group or an organization. You might be involved in some kind of competition with someone at this time. If so, be aware that your energy could be challenged midweek (Wed.-Thur.). The Moon is an excellent time to define goals for the future. Meanwhile, your ability to research is enhanced because of the placement of Mercury at this time. You might ferret out secrets. Speaking of which, some of you are involved in a secret love affair.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

This week, the Sun is still at high noon in your chart, which is good for you. (It happens only once a year for four weeks.) It’s important to know that you have this advantage, so that you can use it to advance your agenda with bosses, parents, teachers and VIPs. However, do not press your case on Wed. and Thurs. because everything will be “weaker” for you. Just tread water. Meanwhile, interactions with younger, creative, talented people will likely enrich your life in some way. Be receptive to this. Actually, any kind of group setting will benefit you. This week, friendships will thrive and grow because your enthusiasm and you positive take on life will attract people to you.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

This continues to be a great time to study or do anything to expand your grasp of politics, religion and social issues. Your desire to learn and broaden your horizons is strong this week. (Like last week.) Therefore, grab every chance to travel and learn new things to satisfy your sense of adventure and your desire to expand your knowledge of the world. Discussions with parents and bosses will be successful because both Mercury and Venus are at the top of your chart paving the way for relations with authority figures. You will be confident in share your views; and they will be willing to listen to you. In fact, relations with authority figures will be very warm and mutually receptive at this time. (Perhaps even romantic.)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

This could be a tricky week when it comes to financial negotiations. In one way, you are confident and strong; however, midweek, you might feel confused about financial negotiations or about pressing your case. If so, do not act. Wait until everything is clear and obvious to you. Midweek something could be confusing or misleading. Meanwhile, travel appeals! Especially travel for pleasure and good times. Some of you might strike up a new relationship or even a love affair with someone who is “different”, perhaps from another culture or a different country. With Jupiter in your sign now, you can’t go wrong. Everything will tend to go your way. It’s important to know this so that you can take a chance or play the longshot.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Remember that at this time, while the Sun is opposite your sign, you will need more sleep than usual. (Go to bed.) Partnerships are important for you now. In fact, with the Sun opposite your sign, you have more objectivity to see your style of relating in your closest relationships. Meanwhile, keep your pockets open because both Mercury and Venus will attract money, gifts and favours from others to you. This includes cash! This week is an excellent time to ask for a loan or mortgage. This is also a passionate, romantic week. New relationships that begin now will be powerful – and memorable! Nevertheless, be patient with others.

Monday Is A Day of Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Think for a moment on all of the witchery, magick and enchantments that you have discovered. Don’t be afraid to adjust spells to suit your own specific needs. Any gentle, illusory, and dreamy charms and spells can be enhanced when you work on the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon. Mondays are a fantastic day to boost your psychic abilities and to tune in to your intuition and empathy. It also gives you the opportunity to work with a different lunar phase each and every Monday, which means in one month you could work four different types of moon magicks on Mondays. How’s that for adding to your repertoire? You are going to have mad skills in no time at all.

So light up those lunar scented candles and add a little mystique to your outfit by wearing an enchanting lunar color. Wear your sparkling silver jewelry and maybe add a pair of dangling silver earrings or a pendant shaped like a crescent moon. Create lunar potions and philters; make a dream catcher and give it as a gift to someone you love. Burn some sandalwood or jasmine-scented incense today to inspire the glamour and magick of the moon. Slice up a favorite variety of fruit that is in season for a snack or share it with your love and enjoy his or her lunar and romantic qualities. Brew up a cup of chamomile tea, enchant it with a little moon magick, and relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Most importantly, get outside tonight and watch the moon for a while. What phase is she in? What color was the moon as she rose? Why not start a journal and write down at what location the moon rises and sets for a few seasons? This is a great way to teach you to tune in and to become more aware of the moon and the influence that she pulls into our lives. Try calling on Selene for her magickal assistance, and call Thoth for wisdom and strength. Get to know the Norse Mani and the Latvian Meness. These gods of the moon have plenty to teach, and if you allow their influence to cycle through your life, you’ll receive many blessings.

Be imaginative, and create your own personal lunar magick and witchery. Go on….the moonlight becomes you.

Monday

Black Cats Are Beautiful 2
Monday

In the word Monday, we can see part of the word Moon. In the romance languages such as Italian or Spanish, this day of the week is called Lunes and clearly relates to the word lunar. On Mondays, a variety of magick may be worked. Because Monday centers on the energies of the Moon, things like dreams, feminine energy, health, success in spiritual pursuits, domestic matters, and things of family origin are especially important this day.

Mondays are best for love magick and anything concerning home or family, thus old saying, Mondays child is fair of face, which seems clearly to relate to the themes of love and health.

Angels of Monday are Gabriel, Arcan, Missabu, and Abuzaha. Arcan is known as the king of the angels of air and the “ruler” of Monday. Abuzaha (Abuzohar) serves Monday, and is very responsive to invocations and ritual magick. Missabu is a ministering angel of Arcan.

Check whether the moon is waning or waxing to determine what your spell will be. During waning moons, do spells to rid yourself of obstacles or for wisdom and protection. During waxing moons do magic for increase of any kind or to draw something into your life.

On Mondays, the best hour to work is moonrise. Get this information from your local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac.

Monday – the Moon’s Day

Ricordati, la vita è una malattia mortale, per cui bisogna godersela.
Monday – the Moon’s Day

Monday is the first day of the week according to the international standard ISO 8601, but in the US, Canada, and Japan it’s counted as the second day of the week.

Monday is named after the moon.

Monday comes after Sunday and before Tuesday in our modern day Gregorian Calendar.

Naming Monday
The English word Monday was derived from Old English which literally means “moon’s day”.

Middle English – Monday or mone(n)day
Latin – dies lunae – “Day of the moon”
Old Norse – mánadagr, mandag, mánudagur
Old English – mōnandæg or mōndæg
Ancient Greek – hemera selenes – “day of the moon”

First or second day?
Monday is considered the first day of the week according to the international standard ISO 8601. In many cultures and languages, Monday is given a name that means either “second day” marking Sunday to be the first day of the week or a name that means the day after Sunday.

Slavic languages number Monday as the first day, not the second day. Many European countries have calendars that mostly show Monday as the first day of the week.

Depressing “Blue Monday”
Monday used to be called “Blue Monday” because it was a day associated with washing clothes that involved blue dye. However, it now refers to the day when employees have to return to work after the weekend.
Least favorite day

In many cultures, Monday is considered the worst day of the week because it is the first day of the work week. A number of songs often feature Monday as a day of depression, anxiety, or melancholy such as “Monday, Monday” by the Mamas & the Papas in 1966 or “Rainy Days and Mondays” by the Carpenters in 1971, not to mention “I Don’t Like Mondays” by the Boomtown Rats in 1979.

However, Mondays are considered good days for fasting in Judaism and Islam. In the Eastern Orthodox Church Mondays are days in which Angels are commemorated.

Holidays on a Monday
Several holidays always fall on a Monday such as Labor Day, Memorial Day, Columbus Day and Veteran’s Day.
