The Witches Magick for Feb. 21 – Salt and Water Clearing Spell

Salt and Water Clearing Spell

Cast this spell to rid yourself of pain, hurt and sadness.

After dark, draw a magick circle and call in the elements. Put three pinches of sea salt in a chalice of water. Stir the water counterclockwise with your athame. Sit quietly and turn you mind toward what you want to get rid of your worries, problems, disappointments, sadness, hurt feelings, and fears. Hold the cup in between your hands, and say three times:

Clear the pain. Clear the hurt. Clear the sadness.

Sip three sips of the water. Before each sip, repeat:

I rid myself of all negativity, right now.

Allow all of your negative feelings to be cleansed with the salt water. Imagine transforming any pain or sadness into positive change elements in your life. Feel yourself being cleansed of all that burdens you. When you are done, bid farewell to the elements and pull up the circle.

Empty the remaining water down the drain, and clean your chalice thoroughly with clear, cool water.

Self Meditation for Daily Life: I am Letting Go

Self Meditation for Daily Life: I am Letting Go

Here’s a powerful daily meditation for increasing the level of peace in our lives which is very useful:

Allow your body to relax in your chair. Let your arms, your shoulders, and your back release their tension and just drop.

As you’re sitting there watching the screen, make a conscious decision that there is nothing else that you must do for the next couple of minutes.

Take a look at an area in your life which has been causing you stress. Make a conscious decision that there is nothing you must do about it for the next  couple of minutes. Let it go entirely, knowing that you can pick it up again shortly if you choose to.

Repeat Step #3 with another area of life which has been causing you stress.

Repeat Step #3 until you feel convinced that in this moment, there is nothing you must experience stress about or concern for.

Allow yourself to experience the freedom for these few minutes of not having to worry or feel stress about anything in your life. Notice that nothing is  getting worse for lack of your concern about it.

Offer yourself the opportunity to release your worries and concerns regularly by using different self meditations in your daily life.

Gardnerian Traditional Witchcraft – B.2. To Help the Sick (1953)

Gardnerian Traditional Witchcraft – B.2. To Help the Sick (1953)

B.2. To Help the Sick (1953)
[1] Ever remember the promise of the goddess,  “For ecstasy is mine and joy on earth” so let there ever be joy in your heart.  Greet people with joy, be glad to see them.  If times be hard, think, “It might have been worse.  I at least have known the joys of the Sabbath, and I will know them again.”  Think of the grandeur, beauty, and Poetry of the rites, of the loved ones you meet through them.  If you dwell on this inner joy, your health will be better.  You must try to banish all fear,  for it will really touch you.  It may hurt your body,  but your soul is beyond it all.
[2] And ever remember, that if you help others it makes you forget your own woes.  And if another be in pain, do what you may to distract his attention from it.  Do not say “You have no pain,” but if you may, administer the drugs which sooth as well as those that cure.  But ever strive to make them believe they are getting better.  Install into them happy thoughts.  If you can only get this into his inner mind so that it be always believed.
[3] To this end it is not wrong to let people think that we of the cult have more power than we have.  For the truth is that if they believe we have more power than we really possess, we do really possess these powers, insomuch we can do good to them.
[4] You must try to find out about people.  If you tell a slightly sick man, “You are looking better.  You will soon be well,” he will feel better, but if he is really ill, or in pain, his Knowledge that he is in pain will cause him to doubt your words in future.  But if you give him one of the drugs and then say, “The pain is growing less.  Soon it will be gone,” because the pain goes, the next time you say, “The pain is going,” he will believe you and the pain will really get less.  But you must ever say so with conviction, and this conviction must come from your believing it yourself, because you yourself know that if you can fix his mind so that he believes you, it is true.
[5] ‘Tis often better to look exactly between their eyes, looking as if your eyes pierced their heads, opening your eyes as wide as you may and never blink.  This continued gazing oft causes the patient to grow sleepy.  If they show signs of this, say “You are growing sleepy.  You will sleep, you are tired.  Sleep.  Your eyes grow tired.  Sleep.”  If they close their eyes, say “Your eyes close, you are tired, you cannot open your eyes.”  If they cannot, say “Your arms are tired, you cannot raise them.”  If they cannot, say “I am master of your mind.  You must ever believe what I tell you.  When I look like this into your eyes you will sleep and be subject to my will,” then tell them they will sleep and wake up refreshed, feeling better.  Continue this with soothing and healing drugs, and try to infuse into them the feeling of ecstasy that you feel at the Sabbath.  They cannot feel it in full, but you can command them to feel what is in your own mind, and try to concentrate on this ecstasy.  If you may safely tell that you are of the Cult, your task may be easier.  And it were well to command them to know it only with their sleeping mind, and forget it, or to be at least unable to tell anyone about it when awake. A good way is to command them that, if they are ever questioned about Witchcraft or Witches, to immediately fall asleep.
[6] Ever remember if tempted to admit or boast of belonging to the cult you be endangering your brothers, for though now the fires of persecution may have died down, who knows when they may be revived?  Many priests have knowledge of our secrets, and they well know that, though much religious bigotry has calmed down, many people would wish to join our cult.  And if the truth were known of its joys, the Churches would lose power, so if we take many recruits, we may loose the fires of persecution against us again.  So ever keep the secrets.
[7] Think joy, think love, try to help others and bring joy into their lives.  Children are naturally easier to influence than grown people.  Ever strive to work through people’s existing beliefs. For instance, more than half of the world believe in amulets.  An ordinary stone is not an amulet but if it hath a natural hole in it, it must be something unusual, so if the patient hath this belief give him one.  But first carry it next your skin for a few days, forcing your will into it, to cure pain, to feel safe, or against their particular fear, and this amulet may keep imposing your will when you are absent.  The masters of talismans knew this full well when they say they must be made in a circle, to avoid distraction, by someone whose mind is on the subject of the work.
[8] But keep your own mind happy.  Remember the Words of the Goddess: “I give unimaginable joys on Earth, certainty, not faith, while in life, and upon death, peace unutterable, rest, and ecstasy, and the promise that you will return again.”  In the old days many of us went to the flames laughing and singing, and so we may again. We may have joy in life and beauty, and peace and Death and the promise of return.
[9] The Bible speaks sooth, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine but a broken spirit breaketh the bones.”  But you may not have a merry heart.  Perchance you were born under an evil star.  I think that the effects of the stars are overestimated, but you cannot make a merry heart to order, you say.  But you can, in the Cult; there be secret processes by which your will and imagination may be influenced.  This process also affects the body, and brings it to joy.  Your body is happy, so your mind is happy.  You are well because you are happy, and you are happy because you are well.
[10] Prayer may be used with good result if the patient believes it can and will work.  Many believe it can, but do not believe their God or saint will help.  Prayers to the Goddess help, especially the Amalthean Horn Prayer, as it causes stimulation to the body as well as to the mind.

Daily OM for November 20th – Healing with Hurt

Healing with Hurt
Using Your Pain to Help Others

by Madisyn Taylor

You can channel your pain into helping others and spreading a tide of curative energy throughout the world.

Pain is a fact of being and one that permeates all of our lives to some degree. Since the hurt we feel may be a part of the experiences that have touched us most deeply, we are often loathe to let it go. It is frequently easier to keep our pain at our sides, where it a

cts as a shield that shelters us from others and gives us an identity—that of victim—from which we can draw bitter strength. However, pain’s universality can also empower us to use our hurt to help others heal. Since no pain is any greater or more profound than any other, what you feel can give you the ability to help bring about the recovery of individuals whose hurts are both similar to and vastly different from your own. You can channel your pain into transformative and healing love that aids you in helping individuals on a one-to-one basis and spreading a tide of curative energy throughout the world.

The capacity to heal others evolves naturally within those who are ready to disassociate themselves from their identity as victims. In fact, the simple decision to put aside the pain we have carried is what grants us the strength to redeem that pain through service. There are many ways to use the hurt you feel to help others. Your pain gives you a unique insight into the minds of people who have experienced trauma and heartache. You can draw from the wellspring of strength that allowed you to emerge on the other side of a painful experience and pass that strength to individuals still suffering from their wounds. You may be able to council individuals in need by showing them the coping methods that have helped you survive or simply by offering sympathy. A kinship can develop that allows you to relate more closely with those you are trying to aid and comfort.

Helping others can be a restorative experience that makes your own heart grow stronger. In channeling your pain into compassionate service and watching others successfully recover, you may feel a sense of euphoria that leads to increased feelings of self-worth and optimism. Your courageous decision to reach out to others can be the best way to declare to yourself and the world that your pain didn’t defeat you, and in fact it helped you heal.

Daily Motivator for Nov. 12th – Embrace responsibility

Embrace responsibility

Don’t blame others, don’t blame the situation, and don’t blame yourself.  Instead of wasting your energy on assigning blame, empower yourself by accepting  responsibility.

The way you experience life is no one’s fault. It is your choice.

Fully accept and embrace responsibility for all that surrounds you, and  something amazing happens. You gain the power to make a positive difference.

If you run from the troubles, they grow stronger and chase you more and more  relentlessly. Yet the moment you take responsibility for those troubles, you  begin to have some control over them.

If you merely wish for your dreams to come true, they won’t. Yet when you  step up and take responsibility for bringing those dreams to life, they begin to  take on real form and substance.

Responsibility is the key that gives you access to all the best life has to  offer. Embrace responsibility in all things, and unlock the great value that is  yours to live.

Aromas to Heal a Broken Heart

Aromas to Heal a Broken Heart

By Francoise Rapp

Too often people write off break-ups as just another page to turn in the book of life. There is some truth in that, but break-ups should be taken a bit more seriously. After all, this is the end of a relationship. And this loss can be as painful as losing a loved one in death. To heal it takes time, self-care, and conscious processing of your emotions. It is vital that you allow this healing process to occur, and take advantage of the situation to treat yourself with gentleness and nurturing.

Here are some other things to keep in mind during this transformative time:

· Avoid any big decisions.

· Go into the pain and the feelings. There is no way out but to get through it…and you will!

· Take long aromatherapy baths with appropriate holistic blends. See recipes below.

· Cry when you need to. Don’t let others tell you to just get over it.

· Be VERY selfish.

· Surround yourself with positive and happy people.

· Dare to ask for a lot of hugs.

· Get a dog or cat, or cuddle with the ones you have.

· Write really awful, bitchy, letters to your ex. Write everything you would love to say. Burn them in the sink. Run the water to make it go away.

· Love yourself. Look in the mirror as often as you can and say wonderful things about yourself aloud.

· Write your way through the feelings.

· Connect with other people who understand and can relate: friends, counselors, message boards on websites, etc.

· Have a healthy lifestyle: eat well, exercise (at least get some fresh air on the beach, at the park, etc.).

· Nourish your soul with beauty: watch movies, read poetry, go to museums.

· Meditate.

· Stay alone and appreciate the tranquility of your aloneness.

There’s no rule for how long the pain of a heartbreak will last. It may take weeks, months or even years. But using the following special aromatherapy blend and ritual will soothe your heart, nurture your wounded soul, and envelop you in comfort. I recommend following this bath ritual every night until you feel the pain has faded.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – October 22

“Growth is a painful process.”

–Wilma Mankiller, CHEROKEE

Whenever we grow, we usually need to let go of emotional attachments. Letting go can be painful. Sometimes growth allows us to deal with fear. All fear can fit into two categories: one, we’re going to lose something we have, and two, we’re not going to get something we want. Both of these categories can cause pain. The best way to grow is to pray to the Great Spirit and ask Him to guide and protect us. All growth is guided by God.

My Creator, guide my growth today and give me Your love and courage to help my pain.

Good Blessed Monday Morning To All My Friends & Family!

It is indeed a very Blessed and Good Monday Morning to be here with you today!

I sincerely hope none of you thought we had just ship, lol! We are here still bobbling around in the waters.  One day we will quit bobbling and get our act together, maybe?

But this is a glorious day for many reasons today.  It is the official day we honor Martin Luther King, Jr. It is also the day we celebrate our President starting his second term in office. May our prayers and good wishes go out to him and his family today. He is a good and decent man and he will lead our great country in the right directions. Some of the burdens that fall upon his shoulders, I would shutter to think about. So indeed ask the Goddess to bless him and guide him the next four years.

It is also a glorious day to celebrate being alive. Being in the presence of family and friends would love you and you love them. Life is precious. The Goddess grants us these precious moments we have on this plane. I had an experience over the weekend, I would like to share with you. Perhaps those visiting our site, it might touch your heart and see the Goddess in all Her Love and Glory…..

These past weeks have been very stressful for me as some of you know. It has been one thing right after another. I was tired, fed up and stressed beyond my limit. I had back surgery several years ago. I have a three level fusion in my back. All metal, cages, screws, wires, I am the bionic woman. It was a little bit after they did my surgery, they found out I had a bone chip in my back. It was just there beside my spine. It would move, they finally figured out why it moved. It was because I would get stressed. When you get stressed, your muscles contract and squeeze up into a ball. So I could have surgery again or be put on medication to keep me super relaxed. Last week, the medicine had no effect on my stress point. I awoke Saturday morning with my shoulders, neck and head killing me. My neck was swelled up about the size of two grapefruit. In the middle, I could feel a bulge in my neck. It was the bone fragment sitting right at the base of my skull. My husband immediately took me to the hospital. I was in such pain, I just wanted to die. At the hospital, the doctors took x-rays and saw the sharp bone chip pointed right at my brain. It was determined I had to have immediate surgery. I laid in the emergency room till I couldn’t stand the pain no more. I started praying for the Goddess to end my life. Take me home to the Summerlands and end my pain. All I remember is drifting off to a peaceful sleep. I thought this is it, I am going home, my pain is over.

From that point on, all I remember is drifting, calm all around me, a bright white light. I knew for sure I had pasted on. Peace at last, no more pain. Then in the distance, I could see a Lady. A beautiful Lady, her face was perfect and the word beauty does not describe her. As I drifted closer, I could see Her face more clearly. Her skin was perfect. Her face glowed with Light. I would feel Her Love and Comfort all around me. I could see Her hand gently point down to me. Even Her hand was perfect. I felt the warmth of Her Love and Her Embrace. I knew this Lady was my Almighty Goddess. I could feel Her Divine Love. It was Her. Then I drifted back to my hospital bed. I awoke and there was no pain. I felt my neck, it was normal. I couldn’t believe it. The surgery team came in to take me to surgery. I started screaming, “No, No, you must feel my neck. Please x-ray it again.” The doctor told me if I was moved to much, the chip of bone could go right straight to my neck and I would die instantly. I told him I wasn’t, please x-ray me again. To the disapproval of the doctor, I was x-rayed again. The doctors couldn’t explain it the bone chip was gone. The doctors wanted to know what I had done, what happened. I told them I had been praying to my Goddess to let my pain end and let me die. Apparently She had answered my prayers but not with death but with life.  The doctors saw no reason to keep me after doing a few more test they sent me home.

I have no bone chip in my neck, it simply disappeared. Some might call it a miracle. But I call it my Gracious Mother letting me have a second chance at life. I prayed and prayed so hard to die. She told me very clearly that my work and the WOTC is not done. It is not my time to leave this plane just yet. I have Her work to continue. My Goddess removed the bone chip, renewed my spirit, refreshed my soul and filled me with Her Goodness and Love.

We have work to do for OUR GODDESS IS ALIVE! She is Pure Love and Light. We have a responsibility to Her. To spread Her word and let Her Truth Be Told. I know I have a mission to do and I hope after hearing my story, you will feel the same way. We have work to do, ALL of us, not just me. Let’s join together and let the Goddess’ Truth Be Told throughout the world.

More Dream Catcher Comments

Good Saturday Morning My Beloved Family & Friends!

Yesterday wasn’t one of the easiest days in my life. But I will be the first to admit, that when the cougar did pass it was a relief to me. Don’t think me cruel, please. I was with the cougar from the time we picked him up to the time he passed. When we picked him up, I touched him and the Vet asked me if I thought he would make it. I shook my head no. I could feel then that his injuries were to much for him to recover from. The Vet gave me tons of pain medications to soothe him. Toward the end nothing was soothing his suffering. I try my best to take his pain. I managed for a while but eventually it grew so strong I couldn’t stand it. I was exhausted and I put his head in my lap. He opened his eyes and looked at me. I told him, it was ok to leave this plane now. For him to end his suffering, his tolling was over, he had had a good life, now it was time to go home. With those words, I could see the light slip out of his eyes and feel his last gasp. His spirit was gone. I was weak and wore out but I still cried. He had a beautiful soul, wild and full of wonder. The places he had been, the things he had saw, seeing the world through his eyes was beautiful. The men came in the enclosure and picked me up. Then they proceeded to wrap him up properly and with dignity.  After I had time by myself, I had recovered some. We gave our mighty friend the burial he deserved. He passed on to the Summerlands in peace and comfort. His great spirit is now at rest and in a place where only love exists.

I don’t understand people at times, well most of the time. I would love to be able to walk up to the person that shot the cougar. I would put my hand on their shoulder and give them a taste of the pain that the cougar suffered. If they could feel that pain, they would never pick up a gun for the rest of their life. Perhaps if we could walk up to anyone thinking about killing anything whether it be animal or human and give them a taste of the dying’s suffering, they would change their minds. Put down the guns and never think about killing again. For them to know such pain that they can’t stand, no pain pills or shots will relieve, the only thought running through their head is the thought of just dying. But they can’t, they suffer and suffer. That would be the greatest deterrence against hunting, mass murders and homicides the world has ever seen. A pain that won’t stop, all you can do is wish for death but it never comes. Let those people who pull the trigger know how their poor, helpless victims feel. See how it feels to be on the other end of the gun. Realize what the victim goes through and most of all the people left behind.

Is there no hope for this world? Has it grown that cold and callous? Is there nothing that we can do before the world goes over the brink of insanity? This is our year. It is the Year of The Witch. It is our time to unleash our Powers and do what we are suppose to do. Help mankind in spite of itself. It is our time to make the difference. We have stood idly by and kept quiet, we have seen what a mess mankind has made of the world without us. Now it is our turn to clean the mess up. Time to restore goodness and kindness to the World. Time to let the Goddess’ love shine once again upon us all. Time to show the world what it is like to know Pure Love, Pure Kindness and The Goddess, Herself.

Are you with me?

Daily OM for November 26th – Lifting Pain’s Veil

Lifting Pain’s Veil

Bitterness

by Madisyn Taylor

Bitter feelings allow us to become perfect victims in that we no longer feel obliged to work toward healing.

It is natural to feel resentment or anger when life does not unfold as expected. We consciously or unconsciously anticipated one experience, and we grieve for the loss of it when the universe puts something else in our path. Most of the time, we work through these feelings and they pass. Occasionally, our anger and resentment do not fade and are instead transformed into bitterness. Bitter feelings allow us to become perfect victims in that we no longer feel obliged to work toward healing and choose instead to identify with our pain. Yet as unwholesome as bitterness can be, it is also a natural element of our emotional palette. When we acknowledge that it is okay to feel bitter, we reconnect with our hurt in a constructive way and can begin the process of working through it.

The nature of bitterness is rooted in the fact that the pain we feel provides us with a rationale. We may feel that we deserve to embrace our bitterness to its full extent. And to be bitter is, in essence, to cut ourselves off from all that is positive, hardening our hearts and vowing never to let go of our hurt. But just as bitter feelings can be self-defeating, so too can the release of bitterness be life-affirming in a way that few other emotional experiences are. When we decide that we no longer want to be bitter, we are reborn into a world filled with delight and fulfillment unlike any we knew while in the clutches of bitterness. The veil it cast over our lives is lifted, letting light and warmth touch our souls.

Divesting yourself of bitter feelings can be as simple as truly forgiving and moving on. Even when your bitterness has no concrete object, you can forgive situations too. Healing pain can be challenging but may be easier if you remind yourself that you are the only entity truly affected by your emotional state. In time, you will discover that letting go of your bitterness frees you to initiate the healing process and allows you to once again celebrate the possibility of the more wonderful life you deserve

Daily OM For November 1 ~ Anxiety about Change

Anxiety about Change

Anticipating the Good

by Madisyn Taylor

Change will occur in almost every aspect of our lives, we can learn to embrace it while releasing the past with grace.

When we find ourselves going through any kind of change in our lives, our natural response may be to tense up on the physical, mental, or emotional level. We may not even notice that we have braced ourselves against a shift until we recognize the anxiety, mood swings, or general worried feeling toward the unknown that usually results. There are positive ways to move through change without pushing it away, however, or attempting to deny that it is happening. Since change will occur in almost every aspect of our lives, we can learn to make our response to it an affirmative one of anticipation, welcoming the new while releasing the past with grace.

One thing we can do is change our perspective by changing the labels we use to identify our feelings. We can reinterpret feelings of anxiety as the anxious butterflies that come with eager expectation. With this shift, we begin to look for the good that is on its way to us. Though we may only be able to imagine the possibilities, when we acknowledge that good is there for us to find, we focus our energy on joyful anticipation and bring it into our experience while allowing the feelings to carry us forward.

We can also choose to do a ceremony to allow our emotions to process. Every culture has created ceremonies to help people make the transition from one phase of life to the next. We can always create a ceremony too, perhaps by burning written thoughts to watch the smoke carry them away, thereby releasing them, or we can welcome new endeavors by planting flowers or trees. Some ceremonial activities such as a farewell send-off or housewarming party, we may do automatically. Society also has built-in ceremonies, like graduation and weddings, which may satisfy the need we feel. Sometimes the shift from denial to acceptance is all that is needed to ease our anxiety, allowing us to bring our memories with us as we move through nervousness to joyful excitement about the good to come.

Something I wanted to share……

I am going through the old WOTC group. I ran across something that I want to share with you. Every time I read it, I almost cry. I don’t remember were I picked it up at but it is a very touching poem. See for yourself…..

INQUISITION

Again the burning came,
She felt the heat, the searing pain
a cry lanced through her heart
“Why, My Lady, Why”

She lay quietly, remembering
lost within the labyrinth of the past
and the future
she did not feel the bite of the cruel blade.
Bleeding, moaning, she saw the man
his face, and heart masked with black
she knew his choices and his pain
Oh, to cause pain, to accept his own
if only she could Touch him, Heal him.

“I love you” she whispered
dark eyes calm, yet full of pain
“Don’t ” cried the man “I want to see you die”
“I love you and forgive you” she said
tears rolled freely down her cheeks

Again, and again the searing pain
As the man applied the red hot blade
“Do you still love me, and forgive me” he screamed?

Despite the pain she answered strongly
“I do”, She smiled
“Blessed be” she whispered.

A wave of pain sent her among the stars.
“My Lady” she cried “I’m frightened”
Strong arms held her close
“You have done well my child, rest now”

The man watched as the blade grew cold
As the young body before him cooled
tears streamed down his face
and he whispered
“Forgive me”

”The past has no power over me. I release the pain, I am free.”

Burn the paper and the ribbon over the flames of all three candles and before the fire reaches your hand cast the paper onto the ground. The moment you feel heat the paper should be cast down. Let the fire burn out on it’s own, but keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t spread to other things.   I suggest casting this spell on dirt or gravel so as not to start a wild fire.

Daily OM for April 16th – Touch

Touch
Healing Our Bodies

Incorporating human touch in to our everyday lives is vital to the healing of our emotional and physical selves.

Sometimes we might concentrate so much on our spiritual lives that we overlook the wonders of being present in our physical form. When we are more aware of the fact that our bodies are also important in terms of our personal growth, we may find it easier to nurture them. One of the most powerful ways to do this is through human touch, for a loving, comforting touch allows us to access the part of ourselves that yearns for a sense of oneness with the world around us. Even simple forms of touch connect us not just to our bodies but also to the energetic presence of other people.

There are so many ways to incorporate touch in our daily lives, one of the easiest being a heartfelt embrace. Just making a point to hug someone on a daily basis and really feel our energy pass between each other can strengthen the bonds that keep us together. Hugs help us heal any hurt or upset we may have recently experienced by letting us release into the moment of the embrace and realize that no matter what happens to us, we have someone in our lives who supports and cares for us.

Another nourishing form of touch is massage. While we may think of massage as a luxury, it is actually an ancient form of healing that enables us to open up our energetic pathways in order to receive unlimited energy from the universe. It doesn’t matter whether a simple massage comes from a loved one or a massage therapist, but by giving ourselves the gift of massage every once in a while, we are doing something healthy and beneficial for our bodies. Massage helps our bodies activate their own restorative powers, creating a wonderful way to engage fully in our own healing.

Letting ourselves take advantage of the healing nature of touch creates space where we can truly live in and experience the world through our bodies, allowing us to completely immerse ourselves in the loving sense of joy and wonder that is our life.

Daily Motivator for March 7th – Grab the opportunity

Grab the opportunity

The problems will only get bigger if you run from them or hide from them. The way to truly make a problem go away is to work through it.

By acknowledging that there’s a problem, you express an initial degree of confidence in your ability to handle it. By digging in and going to work on the problem, you set success in motion.

You don’t want to obsess over the problems, but you don’t want to ignore them either. The best approach is a realistic, confident, active approach.

In each problem there is real opportunity for the creation of meaningful value. So it just makes sense to be eager and enthusiastic and positive about bringing that value to life.

When you deal with difficult problems you must make difficult and painful choices. Yet as painful as those choices may be, ignoring the problem will eventually lead to much, much more pain.

When you spot a problem, get quickly, confidently and effectively out in front of it, and do what you do best. Grab the opportunity that’s in the problem, and be the one who brings that opportunity to life.

An Ear Ache Home Remedy

An Ear Ache Home Remedy

Earaches are a common occurrence in our lives, especially with our children. Learn what causes them and how you can avoid them in the future.

Earaches can be anything from slightly painful to extremely painful and are usually brought on by a fluid buildup (sometimes resulting from an infection), or a buildup of pressure in the middle ear.

A highly common cause of the earache is due to plugged “˜Eustachian’ tubes (the tube that comes from the back of your throat and connects to your middle ear). If and when your Eustachian tube becomes blocked, fluid will gather resulting in a painful earache, bringing with it the possibility of bacteria buildup or infection.

Causes of earaches:

· infection of the middle ear

· colds

· allergies

· sinus infections

· buildup of ear wax or fluid

· something stuck in the ear

· teeth problems

· ear injuries

· changes in air pressure in a plane (ascending or descending usually brings this on)

How to prevent earaches:

· Refrain from putting things into your ears such as cotton swabs, bobby pins, your fingers, etc. as this can cause damage to your eardrum and increase your chances of something getting stuck in your ear/eardrum.

· When blowing your nose, do it gently and one nostril at a time.

· Avoid smoke as much as possible. Smoking and secondhand smoke can increase your risk of infection.

· When swimming, wear earplugs and refrain from swimming in dirty waters.

If you’re an adult and you happen to have an earache, try applying a warm washcloth or a heating pad next to your ear. You can also try the cold therapy method by applying a cold compress or ice bag next to your ear for 20 minutes. Be sure to take a pain reliever, such as an acetaminophen, aspirin, or Motrin (ibuprofen) to help with the pain and reduce inflammation. If nothing works, seek medical attention.

To help open your Eustachian tubes and keep them drained, try the following:.

· Sleep with your head propped up

· Chew gum– especially when experiencing pressure changes (i.e. during plane travel).

· Stay awake during the ascending/descending of plane travel – this is when eardrums will plug up and cause pain. Try taking a decongestant a few hours before your plane ride as this will help prevent buildup in your nasal passages.

· Try yawning to contract the muscles that open your Eustachian tubes.

· Gently blow through your nose while holding both nostrils closed until you hear a pop. This helps promote ear drainage and can be done several times a day.

· Take a decongestant when you get a cold and continue taking it until the cold is gone. Check with your doctor to see if it is ok for you to take a decongestant.

· Take a hot shower – the steam will help to break up and soften earwax buildup.

In the case of children and earaches, usually they are brought on by an infection in the middle ear. This could be due to the fact that the Eustachian tubes are shorter and smaller in children.

How to tell if your child has contracted an earache:

· If you notice the ear seeping with fluid or excess ear wax.

· If your child begins pulling or rubbing his/her ear often, sometime your child will hold or cup his/her hand over the ear.

· If your child is crying or more fussy than usual.

· If your child complains of any ear pain.

· If your child develops a fever.

· If your child becomes irritable.

· If your child has trouble hearing you.

· If your child suffers a sudden loss of appetite.

Make sure that your child finishes, in its entirety; the prescription of antibiotics to make sure that the bacteria has been destroyed. If your child has been seen by the doctor, and has taken medicine (usually antibiotics) for under two days and shows no signs of improvement you should visit your doctor again. Also if there is any swelling behind or around the ear, or if any drainage from the ear continues, you should contact your doctor again.

Natural Cures For Headaches

Natural Cures For Headaches

Painful headaches or migraines can lead to a lot of distress but there are natural ways to cure these headaches.

One of the most common health problems in today’s fast paced society is the headache and the fact that they vary considerably with each individual makes it difficult for medical professionals to find a cure. A headache can appear suddenly and last all day. Several factors may lead to the start of a headache or migraine(such as: your lifestyle, diet, amount of stress in your life and most importantly the way you deal with it) it may be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. However, headaches in most people occur in patterns and so one can usually tell when a headache is coming on. This is an important first step in treating the pain before it reaches excruciating levels that require you to take a painkiller. Headaches can be a symptom of a deadly condition. Check with your doctor!

One of the major causes of a migraine is stress. Therefore, any form of relaxation therapy will help relieve and prevent migraines. While, manipulation therapies may improve blood flow to the brain; thus supplying it with greater amounts of oxygen that is usually depleted due to postural or musculoskeletal problems. When a headache occurs it is not the brain (no pain nerve endings present) that is sore but the membranes surrounding the brain that are being stretched and the tightening of blood vessels, nerves and muscles of the scalp, neck and upper back, which are depleted of oxygen. This increase in the heads oxygen level will help prevent headaches from starting. It is believed that a monthly de-stressing session, concentrating on the neck and shoulders helps those with chronic migraine problems.

Bad posture may also be the predecessor to headaches due to a decrease in blood flow to the head or a trapped nerve. Rolfing attempts to improve the body’s posture by working on the whole body. Concentrating on the connective tissue that links the muscles to the body, which Rolfer believes becomes shorter and thicker under tension. By using firm pressure through the elbows, fingers and knuckles, the connective tissue is separated and thus lengthened. This procedure should help improve one’s posture and thus eventually help eliminate headaches.

In Eastern countries, it is believed that headaches result due to a block in energy (or chi). Therefore, the following natural therapies can be used to help alleviate headaches and migraines. Their aimsare to try and restore a smooth flow of energy to the body and mind.

Chiropractors manipulate the spine in order to realign any deformities in the vertebral column, since bends in the backbone of your body will also result in the bending of the central nervous system. Thus, it is believed that the flow of nervous energy from the body to the brain is also disturbed resulting in frequent headaches or even worse migraines.

Cranial osteopaths believe that they can sense the flow of the nourishing CSF(cerebrospinal fluid) and protective membranes that surround the brain, by placing their hands on the clients head. An imbalance in this protective fluid reveals tension or trauma to the cranial bones or parts of the body, resulting from emotional or physical stress. It is believed that these stresses then manifest themselves in the form of a headache. Thus, relieving these imbalances will help cure ones headaches. The treatment involves manipulating the cranial and spinal nerves.

Reflexology may also be used to help treat headaches. Based on the Chinese concept of energy every part of the body is reelected on the specific points on the hand or foot. Pressing on these areas it is believed that one can relieve tension in the corresponding area of the body. This theory is also used with acupuncture and acupressure techniques. A technique you can try yourself is to press firmly down on the web space between your forefinger and thumb.
