Four of Water

The explanation of Four of Water Osho Zen Tarot

The woman in Four of Water Osho Zen Tarot is showing a soft smile on her face. In fact, she was just observing what the mind was doing; not judging, not trying to stop nor analyzing them. She only saw them as passersby, like a ripple on the lake. And the antics of the mind are always hilarious, they keep jumping up and down, twisting in many ways, trying to attract attention and entice us into the game.

Being able to develop abilities in creating a distance from the mind is one of the great favors. Those are the things we do when we meditate, chant, or repeat an affirmation, but we only look at it, as if they belong to someone else’s mind. Right now, you are ready to create this distance, to watch the show without getting caught up in the drama. Let’s immerse yourself in the simple freedom of Turning In whenever possible and knack of meditation will develop and deepen in you.

The energy of Four of Water Osho Zen Tarot based on Osho’s teachings

Turning inwards is not a turning at all. Going inwards is not a going at all. Turning inwards simply means that you have been running after this desire and that, and you have been running and running and you have been coming again and again to frustration.

That each desire brings misery, that there is no fulfillment through desire. That you never reach anywhere, that contentment is impossible.

Seeing this truth, that running after desires takes you nowhere, you stop. Not that you make any effort to stop. If you make any effort to stop it is again running, in a subtle way. You are still desiring–maybe now it is desirelessness that you desire. If you are making an effort to go in, you are still going out. Any effort can only take you out, outwards.

All journeys are outward journeys, there is no inward journey. How can you journey inwards? You are already there, there is no point in going. When going stops, journeying disappears; when desiring is no more clouding your mind, you are in. This is called turning in. But it is not a turning at all, it is simply not going out.

Quiert

Delight, respite, celebration

Tree: Apple (Malus spp.)

Letter: Q

The apple is an ancient symbol of bounty, harmony, and completion. True to symbolism, Quiert indicates a time of well-deserved rest, or at least that you deserve rest even if you are unable to have enough of it. Constant activity goes against the flow of nature. Our society, which seeks to progress at an ever-faster pace until the human race metastasizes across the universe, has got it all wrong. Slowing down is the appropriate action in many cases, for instance after a period of activity or at the culmination of a big project.

There is great delight in the smallest periods of rest, whether that means taking the time to thank the person at the restaurant for making your sandwich (just because you paid for it with money does not mean verbal gratitude goes unappreciated) or to give a firm, polite “no” when someone deliberately or unwittingly threatens your peace of mind by asking too much of you. Quiert speaks of the sweetness of small human gestures and petite graces. Without them, civilization wouldn’t be quite so civilized, nor would it be as worthy of holding together.

Quiert might also indicate a longer resting/healing time for you or for someone else, or that rest is needed. Quiert says, “Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses. Observe. Live in the moment instead of always planning for the perfect future or reliving the past.” It is a marker of gratitude in general, and the slowness required to fully sense the world around us.

Hexagram 61

Chung Fu / Inner Truth

The gentle Wind ripples the Lake’s surface:
The Superior Person finds common ground between points of contention, wearing away rigid perspectives that would lead to fatal error.

Pigs and fishes.
You may cross to the far shore.
Great fortune if you stay on course.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

The subject of this hexagram discovers a key to Tranquility by first gaining insight into his own nature, then turning that vision outward.
By resolving inner conflicts and being at peace with himself, he learns to gain insight into others.
In effect, he enters another, sees with the other’s eyes, listens with the other’s ears, feels with the other’s heart.
He then returns to his own center, with new perspective and understanding.

Eight of Wands – Minor Arcana

The Eight of Wands describes eight sticks soaring in the air with dizzying speed. This image shows changes, moves and travels. On the card, the background is very clear, showing that there are very few obstructions in your way and there is a beautiful and peaceful river that brings life to all things which are nearby.

In the movie Ten Commandments, Moses touched his stick into the water to spread the waves. His stick is a symbol of power to initiate events. The stick of Moses evokes the image of those sticks in the Eight of Wands Tarot card. They are the symbol of the beginning of action and the effects as well as consequences of such actions. Before we act, we think, imagine, study, exchange, and delude. This is the place of the element Air which is the sky. We give practical and possible ideas, then turn them into action.

This card also has a different meaning which is the appearance of news or new information. You can see or hear something important. The news may appear as a metaphor, so stay awake and pay attention to everything that happens to you at this time.

This card also implies an end. Sooner or later everything ends. Those eight sticks in this card not only focus on starting the events, but also bringing these events to an end. It seems the sticks in this card are about to fall to the ground. If you see this card in a Tarot spread, this may be the time to stop whatever you are doing. You can celebrate the events that happened, but also prepare to receive new things.

KODA

Grove, convergence, ecosystem, review, crossroads, harmony

Tree: Collection of various trees

Letter: Ch

Koad represents a point on the map of your life and cause to reflect on what got you there as well as where you are headed. Many factors conspired to bring you where you are today. An entire ecosystem exists in and around you that is as unique as a fingerprint. This ecosystem is neither entirely good nor entirely bad, which is why this Ogham and the rest of the Forfedha (Oir, Uilleand, Phagos, and Mor) are too complex to be read as well or ill-dignified. Koad is one particular harmony/dissonance at this point in your life. If your life is going well in some respects, this could mean a feeling of competence and capability or a feeling of love and being loved. If you are in a time of stress, Koad may represent the s**tstorm whirling around you. Or all of the above could be going on at once.
You are here to learn a certain set of unique lessons in this lifetime. There are many roads you can take any given day, and like one of those old Choose Your Own Adventure books, each road has its own outcome. Sometimes two seemingly different roads have the same outcome. Koad indicates a feeling of responsibility and ownership of your decisions, however, other factors you cannot control should be taken into account as well, such as family history, social norms, laws, and the era in which you dwell.

Many people do not realize that orchestral symphonies are major works that are frequently an hour in length. A symphony is an elaborate ABA form (think Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on steroids) with mini-breaks between three sections. If your life is a symphony, imagine Koad as one moment in one measure of a huge programmatic work of music. What harmony have you achieved? Are you in a slow or fast movement?

Hexagram Thirty – Five 35

Chin / Aspiration

The Sun shines down upon the Earth:
Constantly honing and refining his brilliance, the Superior Person is a Godsend to his people.
They repay his benevolence with a herd of horses, and he is granted audience three times in a single day.

Promotion.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

This is a time of reward for good works.
Those you have helped want to show their gratitude.
Benefits come both from on high and from the humble you uplifted.
Accept all gifts graciously, though the reward may not be what you truly need or hoped for.
Some may bestow more than they can afford to give, but you must realize that they need to feel that they have repaid you.

Three of Wands

This is the bridge that reaches the edge of the world. The lower steps below tempt those who are curious and brave to go there and embark on a dangerous journey. It bent across the sky but then did not go much further. She stood on the borderline and hesitated, and wondered where she was going. The dazzling sunlight overhead made her squint, radiating beneath the shimmering bands of light that stretched along the river, reflecting on the hill in the distance below. Like a crystal with endless energy, slowly rising, it brought with itself the eternal light like all the potential she had, waiting for her from deep within, with every breath, every moment that contains the ability that either discourages or encourages us. Be aware of the hidden potential in all things.

She looked at the wands of the travelers who had first arrived. It could also be that from this position they turn away and leave, just like a threat to what happens to the next ones. She hesitated for a moment, did not look down, and then stepped into the indeterminate place. She felt the strong rocks and clay beneath her feet, then realized the bridge was gradually perfected from the steps and dreams of others. She took a breath and then began to take the first step – just like that, step by step, the bridge accordingly grew below her feet.

Through this, the message that Three of Wands wants to send you is to explore, search for new things, discover and expand to new horizons. Let’s broadcast your vision in all situations and clearly show your leadership.

Associated with the willow tree, Saille corresponds to letter S. Willow trees are associated with the moon and water. However, the tree used in the ogham alphabet isn’t the famous weeping willow, but the pussy willow.

Since it’s sacred to the moon, it also embodies the association of imagination, intuition, and instinct, as well as flexibility and flow. Also, it’s regarded as sacred to the Welsh goddess Ceridwen who rules over the moon.

Two

Harmony is your nickname. You thrive in relationships – with your romantic partner, family, friends, coworkers, or even the salespeople at stores! You talk to everyone, you are down to earth and people love your presence. You are the life of the party! But sometimes, maintaining the peace in a relationship is so important to you that you forget who you are and make sacrifices that aren’t reciprocated. Learn to stand your ground and put your foot down when necessary. In matters of business, 2 is a great number for successful partnerships. If your life path number is 2, or if the digits of a date adds up to the number 2, know that it’s the best energy to enter into business agreements and create projects through teamwork. 2 is a wonderful omen for signing peace agreements between countries, making up for past mistakes between lovers, and to make any past wrongs right.

Ioho

Grace, death, letting go, endings, rest, the beauty of decay

Tree: Yew (Taxus spp.)

Letter: Y

Ioho symbolizes the acceptance of enduring realities and legacies of the past. If you draw Ioho, look for the end of a phase or cycle. Ioho suggests you are handling or will handle the matter at hand with dignity and grace.

Modern culture has spent a great deal of time running away from the ideas of death and decay as natural, welcome processes. As a result, we have a society obsessed with launching our species into space for fear of extinction, a medical industry bent on extending life long after it has ceased to have any quality, and a fixation on youth that motivates the middle aged to undergo brutal, grisly procedures in order to look twenty. When we frame aging (not just of human beings) in a sensible way, we understand that getting old isn’t so terrible. People age and die. Technologies change. Weeks become years. Eras fade away. Letting go is for the best.

The first of the Elder Futhark, Fehu indicates prosperity and material wealth, either won or earned income. It can represent good luck, abundance and financial success in the near future. It can also relate to social success. Not everyone chooses to read a rune as reversed (“merkstave”) if it comes up that way, but if doing so resonates with you- its reversed meaning may indicate the loss of personal possessions or income, a dip in self-esteem or some other kind of struggles. In Tarot, this could be seen as The Tower card.

Triple goddess, life/death/rebirth, trinity, love – romance

Some people read this witches rune as a flower – new life, birth, fertility, love. I tend to read it more like the triquetra – life/death/rebirth cycles, triple goddess, etc. It’s completely up to you how YOU interpret these!

Ogham

Onn-Gorse

While it also may have thorns, Gorse is known for a vibrant yellow flower that can last almost year round. For this reason this plant has become a symbol of vitality. It may be hardy and have some thorns but it protects wildlife and shines bright for everyone to see. When you draw this letter keep in mind optimism, positivity, and vigor. With Onn you will prevail as long as you keep your flower in bloom!

Fortune – This Ogham tells you that you will prevail! Stay happy and optimistic and everything you seek will turn out great!

Thunder beneath the Lake’s surface.
The Superior Person allows himself plenty of sheltered rest and recuperation while awaiting a clear sign to follow.

Supreme success.

What cyclical forces pull you along?

OTHILA

Separation, Withdrawal, Heir

This is the time of your ways separating. Old skin must shed, outdated relationships need to be given up.  If this rune appears, a “molting” is necessary.  Othila is a rune of the radical separation.  Obedience and probably also withdrawal is necessary – to know, when and how you need to withdraw, and to actually have the determination, to do it.  Property is also an aspect of this rune, because Othila is the rune of the acquisition and profit.  The profit however, that “heir”, which you receive, could likely be made of something that you need to abandon. This process can be especially hard if that what needs to be abandoned is something of your cultural heir and backing.  Not ‘rigidly’ but rather like a ‘river’ is the correct attitude to have.  And yet – you have to wait that the universe begins to act.

Mor

Change, shift, the sea, maps, realm of the subconscious, great undercurrents

Tree: Witch hazel (Hamamelis spp.)

Letter: X

“Sea change” is a term for profound or holistic change. Change is the foundation of existence. The interplay of opposing forces creates and destroys ad infinitum. Mor bookends the concept of change introduced by the first Ogham, Beith. The intention that sowed an action reaped a habit, the habit reaped a character, and the character reaped a destiny. The new track in space has been laid and change is inevitable.

When you draw Mor, look for the changes in and around you. These are not necessarily good or bad. Often, drawing this Ogham can mean something as basic as “oh look, the season of Spring is arriving”. Mor doesn’t have to indicate any kind of drama, although it could. Mor calls out to you to look at overarching influences, new factors or people, and to examine the permutations and possibilities of how they affect the environment.

Mor is a bird’s eye view of opposing forces in our lives rather than being upswept by the random forces that weave in and out of our daily existences. Understanding your own subconscious gives you the ability to calmly deal with challenges that come your way. The work you do on understanding yourself is the sails you build on your boat in the great sea of life. You still need to figure out which way the wind is blowing, of course, but knowing a thing or two about your own position, your tendencies, desires, faults, and strengths will give you the power you need to dodge rocks and survive storms.

The Numerology Meaning of the Number 4: THE SALT OF THE EARTH

The chief characteristics of the number 4 are dependability, productivity, punctuality, and obedience. It is trustworthy, patient, conventional, and traditional.

People with prominent 4’s can seem dispassionate and solitary, preferring to toil in quiet obscurity. They work steadily and are extremely persistent, finding deep satisfaction in their accomplishments.

The 4 favors results over financial reward and public recognition. They are humble, often dress conservatively, and don’t clash with their surroundings.

The 4 does not like to draw attention but will fight tooth and nail if you try to muscle in on their territory.

Your Personal Daily Tarot Card

The Hermit

The Hermit denotes a need to have some space between you and the everyday hustle and bustle of our busy world. The Hermit needs to retreat. Indeed, happiness for The Hermit requires seclusion, freedom from material wants, and time for intense introspection. The answers The Hermit needs cannot be found in our physical world. The truths he seeks are internal, spiritual, and the distraction of a well developed social life can only impede his quest for his personal truths. Still, although not anything remotely resembling extroversion, The Hermit does sometimes need to share time with others; so he can both learn and teach, guide and be guided. The Hermit’s time spent amongst people depletes his energy rapidly. To avoid mental and physical overload he has to retreat from social settings quickly.

Your Personal Daily Love Tarot Card

The Fool

You deserve a partnership that deepens as you get to know each other. Wait for the person who has risen above commitment immaturity if commitment is your desire. The Fool reminds us that dating someone is not a mistake. It is falling in love and marrying them if it is not right. If your long-term relationship is encountering a difficult patch, now is the time to work together to rebuild.

Your Personal Daily Erotic Tarot Card

The Judgement

The Judgement card indicates that you’ve had some sexual hang-ups in the past, but you’re working toward getting over them. This is a period of transition, and although you’re doing the work, you may not be getting the exact results you desire. Forgive yourself for past missteps in order to take a sexual step forward today. Being afraid to express your true erotic self can even effect other areas of your life, so getting beyond your sexual inhibitions translates into a happier overall existence.

Beltane – Spring is Here! Time to Get Your Gardens Ready

Welcome to springtime in the southern hemisphere. As the warmer weather comes a witches thoughts turns to sowing a garden. A garden can mean a different thing to each of us. For me it is getting my physical seeds ready for my veggie garden, to check to see if my herbs survived the winter or if I need to start new ones. Spiritually it means starting new seeds/paths for me to be able to grow to be closer to Mother Earth, the Universal energies, my students, and my teachers. To be able in the fall to reap full benefits of all that I have learned and put them into practice whether it is in my own personal life or helping my students with something. This year I need to plant new seeds and seedlings for all my flower gardens because early heavy rains in this part of the country washed away two inches of top soil in all my flower beds.

What does planting a garden mean to you? Do you plant flowers, vegetables, herbs, goals or a little of all of these or any combination? Remember whatever you plant will come to fruition with the right amount of love, watering (spiritually this can be communicating with each other in the pagan community or even be emailing me to say hi), sunshine (remember to thank the Sun God) and nurturing from within yourself (positive thoughts and affirmations) and from others in our community.

I would really LOVE to SEE COMMENTS on this post, please. Share with us your seeds and lets us help you grow them to their fullest potential!

Some of the Witchcraft/Magickal Correspondences and More for Beltane

THREE RITUALS FOR BELTANE

Beltane is a cross-quarter holiday on the Wheel of the Year that honors the return of summer, the return of the fertility of the Earth, and the element of fire. It’s a nature-based holiday that many of our ancestors celebrated for a long time, and now we get to carry that tradition forward.

Like Samhain, Beltane is a time when the veil is thin. This holiday is a particularly beautiful time to connect with nature spirits, as well as any other beings you’re wanting to create a connection with.

At Beltane, we honor the goddess as part of us. We honor the body, pleasure, sensuality, and sexuality. We bask in the fiery energy of the sun and the fertile energy that’s present.

In this blog, I’m sharing three rituals and suggested tools for Beltane that you can work with to honor this sacred holiday. Keep scrolling to watch a video and read more!

Weekly Horoscope Sunday, April 28 to Saturday, May 4, 2024

All Signs

Tra la, tra la, Monday is filled with vibes that are romantic, creative and artistic – the stuff of poetry! But on Tuesday, Mars zooms into its own sign Aries, galvanizing everyone into action. “Hut! two, three, four!” Actually, Tuesday and Friday are excellent days to get things done. They’re also wonderful days to make a great impression on someone. However, tread carefully on Wednesday, because people will be touchy or a bit grouchy. (A small price to pay for a week that’s positive and promising.) Of course, Oscar Wilde said, “It is absurd to divide people into good or bad. They are either charming or tedious.” But I like Betty White’s take the best: “Get at least eight hours of beauty sleep. Nine if you’re ugly”

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Once every two years, your ruler Mars is in your sign. When this occurs, it means there’s lots of activity taking place in your life; plus, you’re working really hard! You’re pumped with energy, proactive and coming on strong. You will be much more of a fighter for your own rights than usual. You might even fight for the rights of others because this lovely blessing gives you an amazing boost to your physical energy. Meanwhile, money, cash flow and earnings are on your mind. (Join the club. We number millions.) Fortunately, you can attract money to you now. In addition to which you will be spending money on beautiful things. Ka-ching!

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This is a powerful time for you because the Sun is in your sign (happens only once a year). Plus, you also have fair Venus, lucky Jupiter and Uranus in your sign as well. (The gang’s all here!) Without question, this is an excellent time to buy wardrobe goodies for yourself because you’ll like what you see in the mirror. Meanwhile, you’re confident, charming and diplomatic with everyone. Good fortune is coming your way because lucky Jupiter is in your sign for one more month. (Jupiter visits your sign only once every 12 years.) Yes, life is good! A word of caution: In the next two months, be aware of the possibility of hidden enemies. If you think someone out there does not have your best interests at heart – pay attention! You’re probably right. (Gulp.)

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

This continues to be your time of harvest, which means you see clearly what is working in your life and what is not. (Important to know.) After all, your first loss is your cheapest loss. However, don’t focus on failure, instead put your energy into what IS working. Competition with groups or teams and physical athletics is on the menu for many. You might also hang out with younger people. Meanwhile, your birthday is a month away, which means your personal year is ending. This also means the next few weeks are the perfect time to think about what you want for your new year ahead. Ideas? Remember: Goals keep you on track and make future decision-making easier!

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Enjoy your popularity! (And if you’re not, get dressed and go out because people want to see you. They want to hear from you. They want to see your face.) In turn, you’ll love to catch up on what’s happening. You might be more involved with creative, artistic people at this time. Some of you will turn a platonic friendship into something romantic. You’re ambitious, and going after what you want! Nevertheless, make time in your schedule to be friendly with others. For example, contact friends and make an effort to interact with groups and organizations. This is the perfect week to think about your hopes and dreams for the future and make some goals. (“I want a pony and I want to be a ballerina.”)

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

“All hail Leo!” You’re in the limelight, and you look mahvelous dahling! This is because the Sun is at the top of your chart, symbolically casting you in a flattering spotlight. (It’s smoke and mirrors.) You look attractive, capable and oh so competent, even if you don’t do anything different. This is why someone will ask you to take on increased responsibilities. (You can demure modestly – or not.) Venus is also at the top of your chart boosting this attractive quality, creating favourable circumstances for your professional life. Venus also encourages romance with people in authority. Meanwhile, a desire to travel and spread your wings will grow within you in the next two months. Get outta Dodge if you can.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Your desire to spread your wings and travel or learn more through study, schooling or courses is very strong. You value knowledge. And you love trivia. (Your mind abounds with useful and useless facts.) But lately, you hunger to have a better understanding of politics and philosophical issues. If you can polish this understanding through travel – this would be ideal. Incidentally, romance with someone from another culture or a different country will blossom for many of you. Meanwhile, in the next month or so, disputes about shared property, taxes, debt or insurance issues might arise. This could be a sticky wicket.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You are private about money. Even your left hand doesn’t know what your right hand is doing. Meanwhile, you’re thinking about taxes, debt and insurance issues. Plus, inheritances and the wealth and resources of your partner or someone else. Dealings with the government might also be on the table. Fortunately, the gods are smiling and things will likely be settled in your favour. You’ll benefit because decisions will go your way. Expect favours and money. However, relations with close friends and partners might be tense in the next six weeks because Mars, opposite your sign, makes it easy to feel annoyed with others. (Of course, they are annoying.)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Remember that you need more sleep now because the Sun is opposite your sign, which means it is as far away from you as it can get all year (in your chart). The Sun, of course, represents energy. (This might mean taking some naps and getting more sleep.) Fortunately, you might have more objectivity when dealing with friends and partners, which will be helpful to you. Furthermore, with Venus opposite your sign, all your relationships are more affectionate and easier. (How cozy!) You don’t have to worry about alienating anyone. As Mars enters a new sign this week, it will boost your energy to work hard and increase your productivity, which will make you look good!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You are someone who believes “Work hard, party hard!” is a pretty good motto. This week is no exception. This is because you’re keen to work hard and give everything your best shot. You’re focused, determined and energetic. Furthermore, coworkers are supportive, so it will be easy for you to accomplish a lot. In fact, many of you will either improve your existing job or get a better job. Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, fiery Mars has moved into the part of your chart that makes you want to enjoy sports, social outings, vacations, fun times, the arts, the entertainment world as well as rewarding activities with children. Lucky you! You can have it all!

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

This is a wonderful, playful time! It’s perfect for a vacation. If you can’t slip away on a vacation, grab every chance to party and socialize! Accept invitations to fun outings — power breakfasts, long luncheons, dinner parties, matinee’s, sports events and coffee with friends. Whatever entertaining diversion comes your way – grab it! Time spent with children will also be rewarding. Meanwhile, romance might blossom, so look your best. Nevertheless, increased chaos and activity on the home front will require your attention. Home repairs, renovations or even residential moves might make demands on your time. This also requires you to be patient with family. It was ever thus.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Home and family are highlighted. Many of you are hunkered down and hiding under the covers. Others are entertaining! This focus on home and family might attract opportunities to improve where you live or to find better digs. This blessing will even extend to making money through real estate. (It’s all tied up together.) Invite family over for good food and drink because everyone will enjoy their visit. Meanwhile, you will love to learn new things. Short trips and chances to study and absorb new data by meeting new people will fascinate you. Be careful in communications with others because you might be coming on like gangbusters. Lighten up.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

It’s a fast-paced week. Short trips, errands, appointments plus increased time spent with family members as well as demands on your time related to writing, studying and reading will all combine to give you a busy schedule. (Gasp!) But you’re up for it. In fact, it’s easy for you to be optimistic at this time. In particular, you have a sense of appreciation of who you are and what you have. You even appreciate your daily environment when you look around you. However, you’re also working hard to earn money; in part, because you have some excellent moneymaking ideas. Admittedly, you’re spending money as well because it’s what’s happening. (Mars has just entered your Money House.) Don’t go overboard.

King of Wands – Minor Arcana Court Card

The King of Wands is pure fire energy, but strangely enough, he has the least to do with actual creation and creativity. His forte is not in dreaming up ideas and implementing them himself, but in taking an idea and changing the world to match his vision. As such he is a natural leader and commander of all kinds of people. They flock to him to hear what he has to say and leave just as eagerly when he gives them something to do for him. Like the rest of the Kings, the ruler of the Wands suit will appear in two ways in your life: either as a person or as a part of yourself that must be awakened.

As a person, the King of Wands is the ultimate leader, who looks forward to challenges because he enjoys the rush of adrenalin that solving a difficult problem can induce. He not only dispels his own fear but that of others, by ensuring them that they shall succeed. He is not all talk, though; when the going gets tough no one hangs in there longer than he does. The King of Wands has a deep and innate respect for other people, and his compassion extends farther than most people would expect. For a King, he has a remarkably good relationship with the common people. When he is unable to assist by himself, he will empower and enable others to help in his place.

As with all of us, the King’s faults emerge from his strengths. Most of the time he does not show enough restraint to know when assistance is not needed or wanted. He can sometimes make things even worse by doing what he thinks is the right thing – and he always thinks that what he is doing is the right thing. Most of the time his high sense of ethics proves him right, but in those few times where he is on the wrong side of the argument, he can do more harm than good. But one thing that can never be said of him is that he walks away from problems, whatever they are. He will defend another man just as vigilantly, if not more so, than he would protect himself.

An inner spiritual change is often heralded when this card appears. The King of Wands invites us to act as he would to solve our problems. His vision is one of ideal reality, and his vision is that humanity might always be better than it is. He is the warrior of light who stands up for something that matters, and his appearance is an invitation for you to do so as well. If there is a cause you wish to support, but you are unsure of your position, you may proceed with the knowledge that your base of power is strong. Enjoy the King’s power and authority, but be sure to use it for productive means. Take your responsibilities seriously, think of new ways to do things, and never stop believing in yourself.

Huathe-Hawthorn

The Celts often believed the hawthorn to be a portal to the Otherworld. The hawthorn is a hardy plant commonly used for hedges and great firewood. It can even be an invasive species at times. The key points to remember with the letter Huathe are obstacles, walls, and obstructions. Its ability to form a natural wall gives the diviner an idea in what this symbol can mean to them and their lives.

Fortune – To overcome obstacles and walls you must make a personal sacrifice, to gain we must lose something of ourselves!

A Witch’s Chant

by James Hogg

Thou art weary, weary, weary,
Thou art weary and far away,
Hear me, gentle spirit, hear me,
Come before the dawn of day.

I hear a small voice from the hill,
The vapour is deadly, pale, and still—
A murmuring sough is on the wood,
And the witching star is red as blood.

And in the cleft of heaven I scan
The giant form of a naked man,
His eye is like the burning brand,
And he holds a sword in his right hand.

All is not well. By dint of spell,
Somewhere between the heaven and hell
There is this night a wild deray,
The spirits have wander’d from their way.

The purple drops shall tinge the moon
As she wanders through the midnight noon;
And the dawning heaven shall all be red
With blood by guilty angels shed.

Be as it will, I have the skill
To work by good or work by ill;
Then here’s for pain, and here’s for thrall,
And here’s for conscience, worst of all.

Another chant, and then, and then,
Spirits shall come or Christian men—
Come from the earth, the air, or the sea,
Great Gil-Moules, I cry to thee!

Sleep’st thou, wakest thou, lord of the wind,
Mount thy steeds and gallop them blind;
And the long-tailed fiery dragon outfly
The rocket of heaven, the bomb of the sky.

Over the dog-star, over the wain,
Over the cloud, and the rainbow’s mane,
Over the mountain, and over the sea,
    Haste—haste—haste to me!

Then here’s for trouble, and here’s for smart,
And here’s for the pang that seeks the heart;
Here’s for madness, and here’s for thrall,
And here’s for conscience, the worst of all!

Norse Runes: Viking Runes, Norse Symbols and Much More to Know!

Archaeology played a big role in making the human race aware of the civilizations from the ancient era. It is now clear that those centuries-old civilizations (like Mayan, Egyptian, and Norse) used unique communicating language in the form of specific Norse runes and carved images on the cave walls.

All or most of these civilizations used these unique methods of communication for thousands of years. They created their own mythologies and holy scripts to promote their culture and rituals to the other parts of the world.

Among all those mythologies and holy scripts, Norse mythology is the one that brings along some exciting and thrilling stories. In fact, there exists a lot of evidence to prove their beliefs and facts in similar regard.

The warriors of this civilization, known as Norse Vikings, used to communicate via Norse Rune stones ( stones carved with random signs and artwork). The Viking runes were their way of expressing feelings, specific events and also the war signs. If you are interested in this aspect of history, then read ahead to gain all the essential information about the Viking runes.

The Viking Runes

The Norse culture today is popular for the way they passed down the stories to the next generation. The culture used oral interpretations rather than writing tales. Old Norse is popular as the Viking’s speaking language. People used it for passing sagas and also some other stories to the children.

Before accepting the Latin alphabet, runes letters were presented in the alphabetic form known as runic alphabets. Many used them for writing indifferent Germanic languages during that time.

People used the Viking runes to describe things and places, and mystical courses of future events. However, they usually used them for protection. People use some of the Norse symbols commonly for love, health, seed, tides and even the weather. In contrast, some people also use Viking runes for abortion, cursing, birth and even death.

Among all the reasons for using Viking runes, the most basic one was to attract good fortune. The Vikings used the runes for more than 2000 years. They usually carved them into cups, amulets and the ship’s bows. These runes were invented by the northern European to present specific things like the force of nature. During those times, the people believed they could have power the weather by having control over the weather runes of Viking.

Spell for Thursday – Breaking Spells

(YOU CAN COPY AND PASTE ANY SPELLS POSTED TO A DOCUMENT TO PRINT AND/OR SAVE ON YOUR COMPUTER)

Breaking Spells – Candle Pentagram

You’ll need to set this spell out on a table or altar space that won’t be disturbed for the duration of the spell. Your supplies are:

  • Salt (fine, not coarse)
  • 5 white candles
  • Rosemary (oil or herbs)

On your table, sprinkle a fine line of salt to draw a pentacle. It doesn’t have to be perfect but try to get it somewhat symmetrical. At each point of the star, add a few drops of rosemary oil or a sprinkle of dry rosemary (yes, right on the table top). Then set 1 white candle at each point.

Light each candle, starting with the one at the top. After each one, say the words:

By the dark and the light
Your spell ends tonight

Let the candles burn for one hour, then snuff them out. Do the same thing the next time, except let them burn all the way out.

Leave the candle stubs in place for another 5 days, so the entire spell is in place for a week. After that, any negative magick against you will be gone.

If curse breaking spells aren’t exactly what you are looking for, there are banishing spells or binding spells that might be more suitable for your situation.

The Devil – Major Arcana

The Devil Tarot card depicts Satyr God as a half human–half goat creature, dancing to the sound of the trumpet that he holds in his left hand. In many myths, the goat is considered as an animal that is not clean and full of lewdness. However, the goat also symbolizes a person who is unfairly accused, or a person/a creature feels better comparing himself to the incompetent. Therefore, he is the one we blame for the difficulties in our lives. Shadow images and cave without doors indicate that he resides in the most distant realm of consciousness, and only the crisis can penetrate these walls.

There are two beads in his right hand, each worn around the neck of one of the two naked. These people consisted of a man and a woman, wearing little horns which are the same as Satyr. The necklaces around their necks are very wide and their hands are not tied. They can take the initiative to lose themselves but they choose not to let that happen. This symbolizes that the dependence on the Devil is ultimately a voluntary issue where consciousness can be liberated

The number 15 has the sum of the units equal to 6, the number corresponding to the Lovers card, and here the Lovers are bound, depending on the material and sexual of nature. The zodiac of the Devil Tarot card is the Capricorn.

Ailim/Ailm

A is for Ailim, or Ailm, the Elm tree. Interestingly, this group also includes the Pine or Fir trees. These giants of the forest are symbols of perspective and height, rising above those that surround us. The Elm has a clear vision of that which surrounds it, as well as that which is approaching.

In Britain and Scotland, Elm trees grew very tall and straight, making them popular for use as a Maypole during Beltane celebrations. In addition to this, they were popular as property markers–you knew you had reached someone else’s land boundary when you crossed a line of Elm trees. Elm is flexible and bendy, so it doesn’t make a very good building material, but it does withstand water very well, so it eventually became popular for use in making flatboats and wheels. In Wales, early bowmen used the Elm in construction of longbows.

Straith/Straif

This symbol, used for the sound St, is Straith (sometimes seen as Straif), the Blackthorn tree. A symbol of authority and control, the Blackthorn is connected to strength and triumph over adversity. Blackthorn is a tree (although some might argue it’s more of a really big shrub) of winter, and its berries only ripen after the first frost. White flowers appear in the spring, and the bark is black and thorny.

On a medicinal level, Blackthorn berries–sloe berries–are brewed to make a tonic (this is what Sloe Gin is made from). The tonic can be used as a laxative and/or diuretic, as well as a skin astringent. In folklore, the Blackthorn has a fairly unpleasant reputation. An English legend refers to a devastating winter as a “Blackthorn Winter.” It also represents the darker side of magic and witchcraft. Because it’s a plant that becomes hardy when all around it is dying, it is associated with the Dark Mother, the Crone aspect of the Goddess, particularly the Cailleach in some parts of Scotland and Ireland. There is also a strong connection to the Morrighan, because of Blackthorn’s association with the blood and death of warriors. In fact, in early Celtic culture, the Blackthorn was popular for its use in the cudgel shillelagh.

Seven

If your life path number is 7, your life will be predominantly influenced by your mind. Whether it’s intellectual pursuits, philosophical discourses, or a deep spiritual/meditative life through your 7th chakra, you are made for it. You would make a great professor, philosopher or a guru. Because you are too much in the head, you may find yourself alien to matters of the heart. It isn’t easy – you just don’t get the clues, or don’t know how to give them out. You avoid emotions, and if your partner feels them naturally, you may blame them for being hysterical, when in fact they are being just natural. If the digits of a date add up to number 7, know that it’s a wonderful time to cook up ideas, to write a paper, to post on social media, or meditate.

King of Cups – Minor Arcana Court Card

Emotional events

A regal, older man stands before a throne made of shell. He wears a crown with pearls on the spiky tips. In one he holds a chalice trimmed with scallop shells. His other hand lies wrapped around the throne. The throne stands on a beach, strewn with shells, starfish, and driftwood. The King of Cups has moved to a state of being where he is no longer ruled by the tides of emotion. He has earned his throne, which represents security and stability in the mist of emotions (the water of the sea). His crown with pearls symbolizes spiritual enlightenment found in the sacred center of every human, the discovery of which enabled him to escape the emotional extremes of life. The shells (continuing life from one cycle to another) and the starfish (pentacle of protection) have come from the sea, which is the cauldron of creation and rebirth. Through the King’s companionship with the Water dragon he has learned how to use emotional energy in a more positive way.

Divinatory Meaning: This card represents a loving and caring masculine influence. There is a possiblity of a journey across water. You may experience an episode of up and down emotions.

Beith/Beth

Beith, or Beth, corresponds to the letter B in the alphabet, and is associated with the Birch tree. When this symbol is used, it is representative of new beginnings, change, release, and rebirth. In some traditions, it also has connections with purification.

Birch trees are hardy. They’ll grow just about anywhere, including on bare soil. Because they tend to grow in clusters, what may be just one or two seedlings now can be practically an entire forest in a few decades. In addition to being a sturdy sort of tree, the Birch is useful. In days gone by, it was used for infants’ cradles, and is still harvested today to make cabinets and furniture.

From a magical perspective, there are a number of uses for Birch. The branches are traditionally incorporated into the construction of a besom, and are used for the bristles. Use the white outer bark in ritual in place of paper or parchment–just be sure you only harvest the bark from a fallen Birch tree, not a living one. Ancient herbalists discovered that various parts of this tree can be used for medicinal purposes. Bark was once brewed into a tea to fight fevers, and the leaves were used alternately as a laxative and a diuretic, depending on how they were prepared.

Beith Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: When this symbol appears, it means it’s time to get rid of all those negative influences you’ve been carrying around with you. Figure out what things are bad in your life, which relationships are toxic, and find a way to leave them behind. Instead of being dragged down by the negative, focus on the positive things you have in your life, the blessings and abundance. Use these things as a focus, rather than the harmful or damaging ones.

Magical Aspects: Consider the property of renewal and rebirth, as demonstrated by the Birch. Use this as a tool for spiritual and emotional regrowth, and developing your own ability to regenerate where there has been emptiness or devastation.

Nine

Nine, as one of the core numerological numbers, implies idealism turned into the main principle of life. Figuratively speaking, you do not pretend to understand the purpose of the Creator, but hope that things are arranged reasonably and end well. Everything else is derived from this. You are kind as you don’t feel entitled to increase the amount of evil in the world. You display exceptional intuition and insight because you are afraid of accidentally causing someone harm or doing someone wrong. You love people because you think this is the only opportunity to make them happy.

The main positive qualities of the Nine are good will to all people without exception, the ability to be sympathetic and to show mercy to those who need it.

Moreover, you have natural charm, the ability to awaken good feelings. Apparently, this quality is granted to you as an additional tool for the promotion of your views of life.

It would be fair to say that you also use this feature for other purposes. Sensual component of…

Elemental Magic Spells

From Free Witchcraft Spells

Many people who practice witchcraft like to use elemental magic spells, as it is a very natural form of magic. It’s also much easier to learn (and remember) the basic qualities and attributes of 4 elements rather than learn hundreds of other correspondences for herbs, stones or oils. Though it may be simpler than some other spells, elemental magic spells can still be powerful.

Air

First off, we have the element of air. The qualities that air represents include: ideas, inspiration, creativity, intelligence, travel, freedom, new beginnings and mental clarity. If you want a spell for any of these ideas, you should incorporate air into your magick. Items like feathers, bells, incense and quartz all have air attributes. Keep reading for more air spells

Earth

Next is earth. This is an element that stands for grounding, all forms of nature, money and prosperity, growth, rules and responsibility. If you want to represent earth on your altar, you can use a pentacle, stones, or a bowl of earth or rock salt. For earth spells, crystals and herbs are often used since they are natural items directly from the earth.

Fire

Next up for elemental magic spells is fire. Candle spells are the most popular kind of witchcraft spell, and are a good example of using fire. Fire should be used for spells involving passion, energy, strength, creativity and anger. Items for fire include candles (obviously) as well as volcanic glass, and the athame (though some traditions have the athame associated with air). Fire spells usually involve candles, but not always.

Water

And lastly we come to water. Water energies are often used in spells for love, fertility, friendship, healing and sleep. But spells don’t often call for actual water. Crystals like aquamarine and moonstone make great “water” additions, as do herbs like lilac. A chalice is the usual altar tool to represent the element of water. If you do use water in your water spells, try to use naturally collected rainwater.

Spell for Saturday – Elemental Dragon Spells

The Proper Timing for Magick c. 2017

Author: Taliesin McKnight

Timing is one of the most important things to consider when doing magick. Astrology can be likened to a great cosmic clock. It reflects the cycles and rhythms of nature. The proper alignment of the stars, the sun, the moon, and the planets should all be taken into consideration. Does this sound complex? I assure you it is not as complicated as it may sound. In fact, this may reduced to two things: the days of the week and the cycles of the moon.

The seven planets rule the seven days of the week. The names even derive from the planets in many different languages. In English these come from the names of the Norse planetary deities. Sunday is the day of the Sun; Monday is the day of the moon; Tuesday is the day of Tue (Mars) ; Wednesday is the day of Wodan (Mercury) ; Thursday is the day of Thor (Jupiter) ; Friday is the day of Freya (Venus) ; and Saturday is the day of Saturn. Therefore, for maximum astrological benefit, a love spell should be done on Friday, the day of Venus (planet ruling love) . In the same way, magick involving education may be done on Wednesday, which is ruled by Mercury. The planetary correspondences are as follows:

The Sun rules Sunday and is good for Success, luck, spirituality, knowledge, and healing. The moon rules on Mondays. This is a good time to do spells for intuition, dreams, astral travel, and communication with spirits. Mars rules on Tuesdays. It is a good time for effective magick involving battle, conflicts, protection, strength, overcoming adversity, and binding.

Mercury is the planet presiding over Wednesdays. This is a time for rituals for education, knowledge, divination, communication, and healing. Thursday is the day of Jupiter, and governs success, prosperity, luck, and leadership. Venus dominated on Fridays and can bring love, romance, heal relationships, and grant new friends. Saturday is governed by the baleful influence of Saturn. This planet grants protection, destruction, binding, curses, purification, and overcoming weakness.

In addition to the seven days of the week, the seven planets also rule the hours in the day. There are several different methods to calculating the planetary hours. One of these involves following the hours from sunrise to sunrise; another divides the hours between sunrise and sunset and divides them into 12 sections and the same is done for the period between sunsets. To avoid all the math and difficulty, a very simple and effective system omits this and simply uses the 24 hours from midnight to midnight. This has worked wonderfully for me and I see no reason to list the other methods. If you would like to examine other methods for calculating planetary hours, that information is readily available online or in other books on magick. For simplicity, just know that the planet for the day also rules the hour at 6 am, 1 pm, and 8 pm.

Now, to illustrate this, let us take an example. If you wanted to do a love spell, it would be a good idea to do this on Friday (the day of Venus) at 8 pm (the hour of Venus) . This acts as a magickal doorway in which the proper astrological conditions are right. In this way the magus moves with the cycles and the rhythms of nature. If one were to bind (or restrict) someone from causing harm to others, Saturday at 6 am would be a good time. The days and hours should be at least partially memorized. The easiest way to do this is to simply memorize which planets rule each day and to simply remember that the planet for that day also rules at 6 am, 1 pm, and 8 pm. In this way, it will not be necessary to look this up every time one wishes to do a spell!

The phases of the moon also have an important impact on the effectiveness of magick. The waxing (growing) phase and the full moon are good from creative magick and bringing things into your life; the waning (decreasing) phase and the new moon are used for destructive spells and getting rid of things in your life. This is the most stressed point in ritual timing in the Wiccan tradition.

The concept of moving with the phases of the moon is very ancient and is found in many different cultures. This can be seen as a more important element in timing than anything else. It is much better to go with the phases of the moon on the wrong day than to do it on the right day of the week and the wrong lunar phase. This aspect of magickal timing should not be over-looked. The full and new moons are peaks of the creative and destructive cycles. The mid-way points (the half moons during increase and decrease) are also times of great magickal power.

The last aspect of ritual timing is the moon sign. The moon passes through the 12 signs of the zodiac, remaining in each sign only for a few days. This is not as important a consideration as the other 2 timing concerns. Nonetheless, this can lend power to rituals and spells. When the moon is in an Earth sign (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) are good for financial concerns; when the sign is in an Air sign (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) are ideal for education and spells consistent with the characteristics of the element of Air. When the sign is in a Water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) it is a great time for spells that are connected to the Element of water and to emotions, artistry, and relationships; While the moon is in a Fire sign (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) it is a good time to do rituals of a fiery nature.

The individual characteristics of the sign (rather than just the element) should also be considered. This is not a very important aspect to magickal timing, so don’t stress too much over it. As I said before, though, utilizing this can only help and never hinder!

There are other lesser aspects to astrological timing. These would include the weather and the current Sun sign. The reason Sun signs are rarely considered is not so much that it is a weak influence, but rather that it is not practical to wait months just to do a spell, when it will probably no longer even be needed or be too late. This could also be a great aid if followed.

Weather is an issue as well. Storms are usually great for magick because it is a time of great elemental power. Furthermore, if one is doing a ritual involving the Sun, this should be done during the day and when it is sunny. One would assume this would go without saying. On the contrary, however, many people fail to recognize this simple concept. After all, it is only common sense. Thus, weather and the Sun sign can lend a lot of extra power to spells, if you would only harness that power with the use of correct ritual timing.

Now that this has all been laid down and explained, let us take another example to make sure these concepts are well understood. Let us say that someone is looking for a new job and decides to do some magick to help the job search. The moon should be waxing (this is for bringing things into your life) and the spell may be done on a Thursday (the day of Jupiter) at 1 pm (the hour of Jupiter) on a cloudy day because Jupiter is a sky god. The moon should also be in the sign of Capricorn. This would be an extremely good time for such a spell. The conditions are perfect.

Does timing have to be followed? Of course not! In the preceding example, the job is probably needed immediately. It would be foolish to wait for the right conditions during such an emergency. Do spells whenever they are needed. However, WHEN IT IS CONVENIENT, the astrological conditions should be considered. If a spell can wait for the perfect conditions, then great. If they spell can wait a few days for the right day ruled by the proper planet, that is good too. But if the spell can’t wait that long, then do it now. The spell can be repeated when the stars, sun, and moon are aligned right if needed. The spell will still work. The point is lending extra power to your spells. That’s it.

Following the cycles and rhythms of nature is also another way of aligning oneself with the universe. In the ancient Mystery Traditions, from which magick derives, Man was seen as a reflection of the cosmos. One is moving in accordance with the universe. We are moving with the tides of nature. Can magick be done against these cycles and still be effective? Sure. But it is like swimming against a current. Why not “ride with the tide”? It may even carry you a ways if you would only let go and let the currents of the Great Mother take you. Thus, in magick we try to follow the ways of Nature. Magick is merely using Her ways.

Remember, that which separates the initiate from the vulgar is simply that the occultist is aware of the laws of the universe and uses them to his or her advantage while others do not use this power that lies in their hands.
