The Witches Spell for October 18 – Mirror Spell of Protection for the Home

Mirror Spell of Protection for the Home

Spell to Protect Your Home

Ingredients:

Altar

Censer

Goddess image

Round mirror

9 white candles

Protective incense

The Spell:

Compose an altar; place a censer in the center before an image of the Goddess. Have a 12-inch round mirror there as well. Ring the altar with 9 white candles. Burn a protective incense (such as frankincense, sandalwood, copal or rosemary) in the censer.

Beginning with the candle most directly before the Goddess image, say these or similar words:

“Lunar Light, protect me!”

Repeat as you light each candle until all are glowing.

Now holding the mirror, invoke the Goddess in Her Lunar aspect with these or similar words:

“Great Goddess of the Lunar Light

And Mistress of the Seas;

Great Goddess of the Mystic night

And of the Mysteries;

Within this place of candles bright

And with your mirror night;

Protect me with your awesome night

While ill vibrations fly!”

Standing before the altar, hold the mirror facing the candles so that it reflects their flames. Keep the mirror toward the candles, move slowly, clockwise around the altar, watching the reflected firelight bouncing off your surroundings.

Gradually increase your speed, mentally invoking the Goddess to protect you. Move faster and faster, watch the light shattering the air, cleansing it, burning away all negativity and all line along which the ill energies have traveled in your house.

Charge your home with protective light of the Goddess. Race around the candles until you’ve felt the atmosphere change, until you feel that your home has been cleansed and guarded by the Great Goddess.

When finished, stand once again before the image. Thank the Goddess in any words you wish. Pinch out the candles one by one, bind them together with white cords and store items in a safe placed until you need to use them again for the same purpose.

TO STOP A PERSON CAUSING HARM TO YOU

TO STOP A PERSON CAUSING HARM TO YOU

White candle; Favorite incense; Brown paper;
Lead pencil; Spoonful of used coffee grounds
Light a white candle and your favorite incense.
Meditate a short while on the problem. Invoke the Spirits of Protection.
Take a piece of brown paper, like from a grocery bag, on it use a lead pencil to print and
write the name of the offending person or people.
If unknown people are involved, also print and write,
‘and all persons unknown that are causing harm to me!’
Cross off each line forcefully and say, forcefully: I freeze name(s) to be bound by this
spell, unable to cause any more harm to (name(s)! As I will, so mote it be!
Put a spoonful of used coffee grounds on the brown paper, fold it small, and place it in the freezer.
Leave it until the problem is completely resolved.
I wrap a rubber band, string, twist tie, or what have you, to keep the coffee grounds from
falling out of the paper. You can also use a zip lock bag.
Be sure and burn the candle completely up. Don’t use that candle for a different purpose.

Calendar of the Moon for October 14th

Calendar of the Moon

14 Muin/Boedromion

Day of Hades

Color: Black
Element: Earth
Altar: Upon a black cloth set several black candles; incense of vervain, agrimony, and rue; a chalice of red wine, a jewel, and a life-size skull.
Offerings: Drops of blood. Tend to the dead in some way.
Daily Meal: Red meat.

Invocation to Hades

Dark Lord of the Underworld,
We stand trembling at your approach.
King of the uncounted legions of the dead,
Ruler of the hidden wealth
That bejewels the caverns beneath
The Earth our Mother’s skin,
Darkened by the ashes
Of a thousand cremations,
Invisible One, passing through
The chaos of humanity unseen
In your helm of obscurity,
You see us from a more distant place,
A world of ephemeral life.
We come and go, but you, Lord,
Are eternal in your watching.
Help us to see the darkness
Of endings as part of the cycle,
And to mourn our losses
In a way that does them honor.
And should we journey to your dark realm,
In life or after it,
Do not keep us past our endurance
But give us gracious passage
Out into our new lives.

Chant: Pluto Dominum Pluto Dominum

(Pour out the wine as a libation. Let all come forth and sit around the altar and meditate on Death, and let the candles be put out one by one until the room is in darkness, and one candle only be carried to light the way to the door.)

The Witches Spell for October 11: Candle Spell Against Psychic Attack

CANDLE SPELL AGAINST PSYCHIC ATTACK

–white candle

–red candle

–black candle

Imagine a blue ball of energy inside the candles. Caress the candles as you chant:

Goddess of Three, I call upon thee,
To protect from those who wish to harm me
Keep them from using the gift from thee
Keep them from using thy gift to harm me

When you finish chanting, imagine the blue ball exploding into lines of blue.
Imagine the lines surrounding you and wrapping you in warm blue energy.

See the blue light as a shield. Know that it is unbreakable.
Think about how it is the Goddess’ Light protecting you.
Then put the candles someplace where they can burn undisturbed and let them burn themselves out, sending all the energy into your shield. This spell is best performed during the full moon.
For longer effects you can make it a seven-day spell.

The Witches Spell for October 10 – Curse Unraveling Ritual

Witchy Comments

 Curse Unraveling Ritual

Materials:

1 black/white reversible candle (If you can’t find one of these, substitute a white candle which you’ve colored completely with a black permanent marker.)

1 yellow candle

Uncrossing Incense

Charcoal block

Fire-proof dish

Cauldron or fire pit

Scissors

Sweater

Light the reversible candle and visualize the magick reversing itself. Light the yellow candle and see the effort meeting with success. Then light the charcoal block and sprinkle the incense on top.

Now sit in a comfortable position in front of the cauldron or fire pit. Using the scissors, cut the neck and cuff ribbing away from the sweater and toss them into the receptacle. Locate a yarn end on the garment and begin to unravel the fabric, saying something like:

“The magick cast now falls away

As I unravel it today,

(Name of target)’s life is now returned

As magick in the cauldron’s burned.

By all the power of Moon and Sun

I remove all harm; so be it done.

Continue to repeat the chant as you unravel the sweater, stopping occasionally to snip off the loosened yarn and set it aflame in the cauldron. Continue the process until the sweater is completely unraveled, burned and reduced to ash. Either discard the ashes in running water or scatter them on the winds.

The Witches Spell for October 8: Reversing A Candle Spell

REVERSING A CANDLE SPELL

Do this 5 nights in a row, at dusk – as the sun dies and darkness descends.
Light 2 Black candles and as they burn, speak this invocation:
In the name of the Gods and all ye spirits,
“In the name of Cernunnos, and the light and the dark
and the Gods of the Netherworld,
Remove thy curse and sting from my heart and mine.
And whosoever shall be casting a curse against me,
Let he or she suffer their own curse.
Let these candles be their candles,
    This burning be their burning,
    This curse be their curse.
Let the pain they have caused me and mine
    Fall upon themselves.”
The two candles are completely burned each night.

Attention Spell

Attention Spell

You will need:

Essential oil of Ylang Ylang

Orange Pillar Candle

Photo of Intended (or a slip of parchment with their name on it)

Glue

Spell:

Take a big orange candle that has been dressed with the Ylang Ylang oil and set it in a dish of glue on your altar. A picture of the person or slip of paper with their name on it should be set in the glue under the candle. Cast a circle and perform the spell by reciting the following:

“By the four posts of my bed

I turn your head,

I turn your head,

By my lions and by my thighs

I draw your eyes,

I draw your eyes,

With Ylang Ylang and a bowl of glue

I make you think of me as I think of you.

I cause you to look at me

I cause you to look at me

I make you enchanted by what you see.”

Keep the candle burning on the altar until the glue sets completely. While the spell is underway and the candle burns, visually make a trail from that person to yourself. Do this on a map if the person lives far away, and put several drops of the oil on your doorstep. Wear the oil as perfume until the spell works. If the spell did not include the last three line you might attract the person’s attention without attracting them to you. You can also use a Compelling or similar oil to further draw the person to you physically.

Magickal Herbal Use: Lesson 4 – Enchanting Herbs

Lesson Four: Enchanting Herbs

by Leillan

I have saved this section for last on purpose. I wanted you to get a feel for what was offered before we talked about enchantment.

Enchanting is basically just simple spell casting. In enchanting an herb, you empower that herb with a specific purpose. I know it sounds easy, but remember you are working with things from the earth. The power is there, all you have to learn is how to bring it out. If you are a timing person, time this to the moon, the day of the week, the hour of the day, the time of season, whatever you need do. Remember to visualize as you enchant. Make the purpose as clear as you possibly can, and bring the words straight from your heart and the power from deep within you.

This final lesson of the series will done in ritual format. I will describe the work area, the herbs, and the purpose. Your final test will be to design your own ritual, amulet, bag, incense, or whatever else which to enchant. But you should only use the herbs listed in the previous lessons. You don’t have to actually perform the work. I just want to know what you’d do and how you’d do it. The following is my example to you.

I am making an amulet for a dear friend who needs strength and will to make it through a difficult period. This friend has full knowledge of my art and has asked for help. I have thought about it and decided the way in which I can help most.

On my altar, I have placed two black candles. I use black because it’s my personal favorite color for certain types of work. Between the candles,  I have my mortar and pestle; in front of them,  I have my athame. My wooden bowl is to the right and filled with sand and a charcoal block. I’ll be using  sandalwood incense, as I need strength and power right now, as well. To my left I have placed jars containing Dragons blood, sage, sea salt, rose petals, and a piece of walnut (did I fail to mention that walnut strengthens the heart?). The only other item on my altar is my pentagram, which is a personal cue I’m using to assist me in visualization,  and a small locket into which the blend will be placed. A red candle stands off to one side, ready for use if I need it.

I light the black candles and concentrate on seeing this friend happy and her problems solved. I pick up the sea salt and measure out a little with the tip of my athame. As I pour it into the mortar, I say “Salt purifies and cleanses. Your purpose this night is to purify the herbs I use here, and make them pure in intent.”  While saying this, I visualize the salt purifying the herbs.

Next, I pick up a rose petal and crumble it into the salt, saying: “I charge thee with the task of bringing intuition to ______. She finds herself in a situation where your power is desperately needed.”  I then mix the salt and rose together with my athame.

I measure out a portion of sage with my athame and drop it into the blend, saying, “I charge you and bid you to lend wisdom of decision to ________. She needs this wisdom to overcome what has been wrought.”  Stir the sage into the mixture.

Next, I pick up the piece of walnut and say, “I empower thee to lend strength of heart in this difficult time. Through your strength, may her heart be lightened and her will be strengthened.” I then measure out a tiny amount of powdered Dragons blood, saying, “Within thee is the power to intensify each herb I’ve used. You will be the power of change.”

Mixing all together I say, “Within each separate herb lies the power to reach the end; each has its own purpose. May purposes united make true the end, for blended together, the whole is met. For a year and a day, may you be charged to lend thy power where it is needed. An’ it harm none, Thy will be done. So Mote it Be!

I pick up the mixture, bit by bit on the tip of my athame, and place enough in the locket to fill it. I then light the red candle and say, “Red is color of power and strength” while dropping a little wax on the herbs inside the locket to seal and bind the blend together. I then close the locket, hold it in both hands, and concentrate on the person and the purpose with a light and loving heart. When I feel the enchantment is done,  I give thanks to the Goddess, put out the candles, and ground the leftover herb and incense. I clean my tools and wrap the newly made amulet in a cloth until I can give it to my friend.

The Witches Spell for October 1: Candle Money Spell

The Witches Spell for Monday, October 1:  Candle Money Spell

A good candle spell for wealth and prosperity requires two black candles since black draws in all color and energy in the universe. Carve your name and the words “money,” “wealth,” “riches” and any other words of power along the sides of the candles. Then light the candles and grasp them both firmly in your hands until your feel your energy and intentions surging into the candles.

Then say:

“These candles bring me wealth and riches.”

Follow up by saying:

“If this be the Will of the Universe,

So shall it be, So Mote It Be.”

When finished do not let the candles continue to burn. Put them out.

Begin this spell on Sunday, Thursday or Friday, as these days honor the Sun, Jupiter, and Venus.

Light the candles every night until they are completely burned down. This spell should increase your wealth and prosperity. Remember after doing a spell forget it, don’t dwell on it.

Spell of the Day for Sept. 27: The Gimme Gumption Spell

Witchy Comments The Gimme Gumption Spell

Materials:

1 reversible candle, black on white (Alternatively, color a white candle completely with a black permanent marker.)

1 shot glass filled with rum bourbon, scotch or vodka (Substitute a shot glass of water flavored with rum extract, if you like.)

Since this is a war of sorts–and Mars energy is essential for any type of successful battle–plan to perform this spell on a Tuesday on either the Full or New Moon. Fill the glass and light the candle, then place the glass directly in front of you. Ground and center in your normal fashion; then say something like.

Confrontation is not my foe.

It’s not an opponent; it causes no woe.

It is my friend now and as such.

It straightens out the cause of much

Confused and wrongful accusation.

Misunderstanding and misinformation

It soothes out wrinkles while it mends

Relationships that might otherwise end.

It no longer makes me sick.

For now I’ve finally learned the trick:

That anger plays no part; instead,

Resolution weaves its threads.

That said I now infuse my gutsy gumption

This liquid for my own consumption.

At this point, think about what gumption and courage means to you, then hold the glass aloft, and blow the candle that thought across the liquid  to infuse and charge it. Place the glass in front of the candle and continue, saying something like:

And before this candle, it is placed.

So its energies will interlace

With my infusion to bring it power

As it burns by minute and by hour.

To banish worries, woes and fears,

To banish nervous shakes and tears,

And bring forth the courage that I need

To defend myself with grace and speed.

The gumption asked for now is wonk

As I will, so be it done.

When the candle extinguishes itself, drink the liquid, feel the courage flow through your body and make a firm resolve  never to be stopped on again.

A Spell To Break The Powers of A Spell

Items You Will Need:

Black Candle

Cauldron

Beeswax

Fresh Water

The Spell:

If you believe that a spell has been cast against you, place a large black candle in the cauldron (or a large black bowl).  The candles must be tall enough to extend a few inches above the cauldron’s rim. Fill the cauldron to the rim with fresh water, without wetting the candle’s wick. An inch or two should remain above the water. Deeply breathe, meditate, clear your mind and light the candle. Visualize the suspected spell’s power as residing within the candle’s flame. Sit in quiet contemplation of the candle and visualize the power flowing and growing within the candle’s flame. (Yes, the power against you) As the candle burns down, it’s flame will eventually sputter and go out as it contacts the water. As soon as the flame has been extinguished by the water, the spell will be dispersed.

How To Hold a Hearth and Home Rite for Mabon

How To Hold a Hearth and Home Rite for Mabon

By Patti Wigington

Mabon is a time of balance, and it is the time to celebrate the stability of the hearth and home. This ritual is a simple one designed to place a barrier of harmony and security around your property. You can do this as a family group, as a coven, or even as a solitary. If you live in an apartment, feel free to adapt the rite as necessary. The key here is to focus on the perimeter of your personal space, whether you have a half-acre yard, a big rural spread, or a downtown condo.

Here’s How:

  1. You’ll need the following items:
    • A bowl of fresh earth from your yard
    • An assortment of iron nails* (railroad spikes work nicely if you can get them)
    • A brown or green candle to represent the land

There is no need to cast a circle before beginning this rite, because you will be casting a magical perimeter as part of the working.

  2. Begin at the entrance to your property that sees the most traffic. If you have a yard and house, this will likely be the end of the driveway, where it connects to the street. If you live in an apartment or town home, you may wish to use your front door, or the hallway in front of your door. You may want to put your supplies on a tray or in a bag, if you’re doing this alone. If you have other people participating, give each person some items to carry. You can do this rite at any time of the day, although evening may be better if you don’t want your neighbors to come over and ask what you’re up to.
  3. Place the bowl of earth at the entrance to your property. If you like, you can place it on a table, or you can just set it on the ground. Place your hands into the bowl, and feel the cool soil on your fingertips. Feel the energy of the earth, traveling from the ground, up into the bowl, through the dirt, and into you.
  4. Focus on the bowl of earth, and say:

Earth, symbol of security and stability, bring peace and harmony into my home at this season of thanksgiving. May my family be well, my house be a haven, and my table be one of hospitality. May the earth, the soil, the land, ground me and protect me and those whom I love, and that which I call mine. My property shall be a safe place, a secure place, a harmonious place for all those who enter. As I will, so it shall be.

  5. Leave the bowl in place, and begin slowly walking around the perimeter of your property, traveling in a deosil, or clockwise, direction. Feel the energy of your land, and the way in which you connect with it. Is there a tree you particularly love? Or the big rock where the kids always sit? Or that weird piece of root that you trip over every time? Consider why your property is home instead of just a place to live. Even if you live in an apartment, you can do this — what about that creaky spot by the door that your mom always hears when you come in late? All of these make a house personal and connect us to it.
  6. Periodically — and depending on how many iron nails or railroad ties you’ve got — stop and touch the ground. Drive a nail or spike into the dirt – iron is known as a protective material  throughout many cultures. As you push it into the earth, say:

Iron spike, in the ground, protect my home, my family and me. Keep out that which would cause us harm.

  7. Repeat this with each iron nail or spike, until you’ve placed a protective barrier around your property. By now, you should have returned to your bowl of earth at the entrance. Light the green or brown candle, and place it within the bowl. Pack the earth lightly around it so that the candle doesn’t topple over. Say:

Dark and light, equal parts at the time of Mabon. Fire and earth, together. Balance, harmony, security, these things shall be mine.

  8. If there is a particular deity of your tradition that represents hearth and home, now might be a good time to call upon them asking for assistance. If you do so, be sure to make an offering in their honor. If you choose not to call upon deity at this time, just take a few moments to reflect on your home life, and the things that mean security to you. When you are finished, bring the bowl with the candle inside, and place it in a spot where all can see — on your hearth, or the kitchen table — and allow it to sit until the candle goes out. When the candle has burned away, return the earth to your property.

Tips:

  1. Even if you just live in one room of a home, you can still do this rite. Simply adapt it so that you’re going around the perimeter of the room, beginning with the doorway. Instead of pounding iron spikes into the ground, you can tuck a small nail up under the edge of the carpet.
  2. It has been pointed out that in some areas, the ground may freeze enough to push iron nails out of the ground, which could cause problems once things warm up – no one wants a small child to step on a rusty nail! If you live in an area where this may be a problem, you may wish to remove the nails at certain times of year, or at the very least, check to make sure they are securely in the ground.

What You Need

  • A bowl of earth
  • Iron nails or railroad spikes
  • A green or brown candle

Soy Candles – the Healthy Aromatherapy Choice

Soy Candles – the Healthy Aromatherapy Choice

By Gaines Bishop of EcoLight Candles

Light the way to a cleaner future with soot free soy candles, healthy alternatives to paraffin candles. Soy candles come from a vegetable (soy beans), are non-toxic, do not produce soot, are 100% biodegradable, burn 50% longer, and burn at a lower temperature than paraffin.

A byproduct in the petroleum refining chain, paraffin emits high levels of toxic chemicals that include lead benzene (the same as from your car tail pipe) and acetone, both known to be carcinogenic. Paraffin candles pollute indoor air and lungs, as does the lead present in the wick of many imported candles.

Burning paraffin candles have been identified as causing more damage than inhaling second hand smoke. And as for using paraffin candles in aromatherapy – how can you call inhaling toxic waste good therapy?

Another problem with soot is cleaning it off your walls, carpet, couch, and appliances, which can become impossible. The electrically charged bond is too strong for household cleaners to break. Many times you have little choice but to replace the soiled surfaces or buy new items.

One homeowner in Texas faced nearly $200,000 in damages and replacement costs because of candle soot. The soot particles infested her heating and cooling ductwork, which had to be replaced. Much of her furniture was covered by candle soot.

Soy candles burn clean with no toxins or soot. The fact that they burn longer is an added bonus! Look for soy candles today and rest assured that you are burning a HEALTHY aromatherapy candle.

Summoning Family Witches

Summoning Family Witches

Items You Will Need:

  • 5 white candles
  • salt

The Spell:

Draw Pentagram with salt.
Place the candles at the 5 points.
If there are more than one of you stand around the circle of the Pentagram holding hands.
Chant together.. “I call forth from space and time.
Matriarchs from the ____________ line: Mothers, Daughters, Fathers, Sons.
Our Family’s spirit without end, to Gather now in this place and help us! “

Summoning the Ancestors

Summoning the Ancestors

Items You Will Need:

  • A Staff (preferably one you have worked with before)
  • Incense burner (stick and cone incense will work here, I first made this ritual using those, but you must have a way to burn the offering)
  • Purification or protection Incense (I use Frankincense or Sandalwood)
  • a small offering (meat works well, though bread will work too, I’m not sure about offertory incense though because I have never tried to use it with this ritual)
  • 6 white Candles (any type will do, i just depends on how long you intend to hold the ritual, I usually use tea candles if I’m not going to take too long, though it can be hard to tell sometimes how long the ritual will last.

The Spell:

This ritual works best at night though can be performed at any time

Form the candles into a circle around the incense burner (or incense) and light the candles and start burning the incense (note: if using stick or cone incense, keep a ready supply within the ritual area and light it with the candles, there can be no new fire added or it can disrupt the ritual)

(optional, but recommended) Cast a circle

Hold up your staff and visualize a light at its end as you say in a firm tone

“Ancestors of Blood and Spirit, come to this light. Come to guide and aid me in this time and place, for I seek you wisdom and knowledge, please lend me your aid and grant me an audience oh wise ones”

You should start to feel their presence in short order, though you can never tell how many or which of your ancestors will come, some may not even be related to you by blood and some may only have spiritual ties (I have had a few animals and one Amakua [guardian spirit/deity] show up, this is why I recommend some experience with spirits

Hold the ritual for as long as you need

When closing the ritual don’t forget to burn the offering and be careful to thank all that came and bid that they fare well until next time (this can be anyway you like as long as it is personnel and done with the appropriate respect)

Extinguish the candles one by one and envision that the spirits are leaving with the candle smoke

Open the circle once the last spirit has left.
