Lapis lazuli is considered “a stone of truth,” helping you communicate honestly and effectively, both with others and with yourself. Its name comes from Latin and Persian and means “blue stone.” Blue is the color of the throat chakra, associated with the ability to express your true voice. It can also protect against negative words or thoughts from others, returning that energy to its source. It stimulates intuition, helping you to sense the best words to use with others. With a charged lapis stone in your pocket, you will have more confidence and peace of mind in any potentially challenging conversation.

You will need:

1 piece lapis lazuli

1 or more amethyst and/or clear quartz crystal pieces (optional)

1 white or yellow candle

Instructions for this crystal magic spell:

Place the amethyst and/or quartz, if using, in front of the candle and light the wick. Hold the lapis lazuli in both hands. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths. Visualize yourself feeling relieved and satisfied with the results of the conversation. See the positive energy of this feeling flowing from your hands into the stone, while speaking the following (or similar) affirmation:

“I communicate clearly and effectively from the essence of my true self.”

When you sense that the stone has been sufficiently charged, place the stone near the amethyst/clear quartz and leave it with the candle burning for at least one hour. It is now ready to assist you with your discussion.

Ingredients:

  • A white candle
  • A glass of coconut milk
  • Two tablespoons of saffron
  • A new sponge

How it’s done:

Light the white candle and stare at the candle flame without blinking; repeat this magic formula as long as you can with your eyes open:

“Dear Universe. Give me what I want. Blessed be.”

As the candle burns out, prepare a warm bath. Pour a glass of coconut milk and two tablespoons of saffron into the water. Then immerse yourself in the water and, rubbing your skin well with a new sponge, repeat the magic formula again.

This procedure can be followed to increase the effect of a spell.

We will take the herbs we will need for the ritual and put them in a wooden or mortar bowl.

We light 4 candles on each side of the bowl, a white candle on the right (it will give us protection and represents spirituality), a yellow candle on the left (to increase psychic powers), and so on for the other two sides (i.e. the top and bottom of the bowl).

Road Opener Wiccan Candle Ritual

An easy road opener spell with a candle and a Wiccan prayer. Invoke the 4 elementals to clear and unlock solutions to your problems.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Bowl of water (regular drinking water)

  • 1 incense stick

  • 1 crystal or gemstone (pick one according to the day)

  • 1 white candle

HOW TO DO A ROAD OPENER SPELL

  • Arrange your items on the altar. Each element will face one of the four directions: Water faces West. Air faces East. Earth faces North. Fire faces South.
  • Light the incense. The Air element is entering your ritual.
  • Rub your hands for a few seconds until you can feel a warm energy, visualize a ball of energy and hold your crystal, you are invoking the Earth element.
  • Light the candle to call upon the presence of the Fire element.
  • Gently dip a finger in the water to feel the company of the Water element. Water represents a state of flow, a mirror that can open the door to a new reality. This transforming energy will clear all blockages.

  • Visualize an empty road. Meditate for a few minutes as you see yourself moving forward.

Know the Basics
Know what magick is. Know different ways to raise, direct and ground energy. Know how to cast a magick circle. Know how to open a circle. Know the basic outline of a spell.

Know the Intent or Purpose
What is it you are trying to do? Heal an illness? Increase your concentration? Bring love into your life? Sell a house? Celebrate a Sabbat? Before you begin any magickal working, you should have a firm grasp on what outcome you are seeking.

Know the Best Time to Work the Spell
Do you know what type of magick should be worked during the waning moon and what type during the waxing moon? What type of magick is best worked on the full moon? The new moon? What ays of the week are best for what types of magick? Learn how the moon phases and days of the week affect magickal workings so you will know when to work your spell.

Know Correspondences
Learn which colors will bring what results. Learn a little about herbalism; which herbs can be used for what magickal purposes. Learn about image magick and how it works. Learn about elemental magick; which elements can be used for what types of magick.
 

 Basic Working Spell Outline

 Ritual Preparation
 Choose a time. Decide the intent. Choose an aspect of the Divine, if  you wish. Decide how to raise energy (ie: dance, chanting, drumming,  etc.) Choose how to cast and close the circle.

 Cleanse yourself and your magickal space.
 You can do this with a ritual bath for yourself, or through meditation  to still and focus your mind. You can cleanse your space with your  magickal broom or with incense or burning herbs.

 Statement of purpose
 This is simply to tell the Divine why you have called Him/Her to the  circle; what you are trying to accomplish.

 Magickal Working
 Raise energy, through chanting or drumming or however you have  chosen to do so. Direct or channel this energy by using candles,  herbs, stones or whatever other correspondences you found to fit  your specific need. Ground your energy when you have completed  the working.

 Cakes and Wine
 Eat a small piece of bread or cookie and drink a little wine, milk or  juice to help restore your energy.

Take two pennies in your hands and shake them, fairly hard. While doing this, say this chant three times:

This is the spell you need to make a clean break from something in your life you need to be rid of. This is more for making a break from a part of your life not a specific person. You would do better with a banishing spell for that.

Sprigs of rosemary

A dry stick, as thick at your little finger at least

Black string

White string

A large pot and spoon

Black candle

White Candle

Traditionally this spell would use a gong or a large, deep bell. Since most people don’t have one, we can improvise with a big pot. If you do have a large bell, feel free to use that instead.

Use the black string to tie a sprig of rosemary at one end of the stick, and then use white to do the same at the other end. Set this down between the two candles. Light the black candle, and say out loud what you are looking to break away from. Light the white candle, and say what you’re hoping to bring into your life instead.

Hold the stick above the flames, with the black end over the black candle and the white end over the white one. Keep it high enough to not catch on fire. Hold the ends in each hand and give it a sharp snap to break in half. Don’t worry if it doesn’t break evenly. It’s not important.

Hold your hands over the flames and repeat the 2 things again. Take the pot and spoon, again between the candles, and give it 4 hard whacks to clear the energy. Your break is now made. Leave the candles to burn out. Burn the sticks if you can, or else bury them outside.

1. Draw a bath and add three chamomile tea bags, a whole ginger root, three fistfuls of sugar,
three fistfuls of salt, a teaspoon of cardamom seeds, and the juice of a whole lemon. Relax and soak in the tub.

2. Brew a cup of chamomile tea add a pinch of salt, cardamom, and ginger. Then add lemon and sugar to taste. Drink tea before, during or after a stressful situation.

3. This preparation is used as a massage therapy for muscle tension in the body. Brew the tea as described above, but do not add the salt. Fill an empty mayonnaise jar with sea salt and then pour the tea over it. Shake well.

You now have a salt rub to use on specific areas of your body that hold tension and stress

Light the candle. Feel the positive energy emanating from the candle.

Note: “Hecate” is pronounced “Heh-KAH-tee” or “Heh-KAH-Teh”

Use a dark altar, or an image of Hecate, Avenging Goddess, on your altar. Place two candles on either side of the image. You will need a black candle, juice from a dieffenbachia plant (which numbs and paralyzes the tongue if you get it in your mouth, so don’t; you won’t need much of it), and spider webs. Inscribe the black candle with your enemy’s name. Make your circle. Say the following invocation:

I know this will all pass and everything happens for a reason but I still don’t have to like where I am mentally, emotionally and physically today.

Everyone needs rest and a lot of people need a good day to worship their creator(whomever or whatever that may be), however they deem fit to do so. With the Sun being the central theme of many ancient rituals, Sunday just seems to fit, in name and theory. Not only is it a good day to worship, it seems good to do more relaxed spells, such as sleep, dream, and rebirth.

A Spell for While you Sleep

You will need the following items for this spell:

Four lengths of appropriately coloured ribbon
which can be easily tied
Four pins
Your bed

Knot magic has a particular effect in ‘binding’ or fixing a spell in place and with the addition of colour it is possible to use ribbons to bring about a desired outcome. By using your own bed as a focus, your magical work can be done while you sleep. This is a very personal way of working and one which can bring particularly positive results.

If your bed has bedposts, simply knot a length of the correct colour ribbon for your purpose around each post.

Each time you do this, say:

With this knot of coloured ribbon

Bring to me the power hidden. Grant me that right Throughout this night.

If your bed has no posts then carefully pin the knotted ribbon to each corner using the same words.
Each night for two further nights touch each ribbon knot in turn and repeat the words above.

Leave the ribbons in place until you no longer feel the need for them. You can expect to have some fairly vivid dreams over the following three nights, which may help you to develop the qualities you seek. This spell allows your unconscious self to work in a protected space without the chatter of day to day matters.

To Drive Away Bad Dreams

You will need the following items for this spell:

Bowl of warm water
Salt
Your chosen sprigs of herbs
String

This spell uses herbal magick and correspondences to clear the bedroom of negative influence. It is often a good idea to use material that is easily available, so you might use sprigs of rosemary, sage, Lady’s bedstraw, maize silks or broom-corn. Since you want something taken away you should perform this magical working as the Moon wanes.

Dissolve the salt in the warm water.

Tie the herbs together.

Dip the sprigs in the water and sprinkle the corners of the room with the water.

Use the sprigs to sprinkle the salt water on your bedclothes, and particularly round the head and foot of the bed.

When you have done this, place the herbs under your pillow, or if you prefer, under the middle of the bed.

The next morning, discard the herbs at a crossroads if you can, either by burying them or allowing them to disperse to the four winds. Otherwise ensure that you have carried them well away from your home.
This carries all negativity away from your bedroom and bed. This spell uses rosemary which brings clarity, sage for wisdom, ladies bedstraw which is said to have lined the manger at Christs birth, and broom corn, which is used in worship of the Mexican goddess Chicomecohuatl. All these herbs bring cleansing, not just of the room but also of the occupants aura or subtle energy. On the basis that one should always replace negative with positive, you may like to use the following technique to bring about positive dreams.

Having prepared your environment, this next technique is of most use when there is a strong, deeply felt association with the issue or request being considered in magical terms, ideal conditions for spell working. And it is very easy to become overwhelmed by the sheer deluge of different methods of magic, different spells, things you need to learn, teachers. There are so many different ways to do magic and you want to make sure that you’re doing the right thing. It’s enough to give anyone pause!

Because of this, I see so many new witches and magicians holding off and waiting to cast their first spell, because they feel like they don’t know enough. And while I certainly understand this, it is not necessary for you to know absolutely everything to start actually practicing magic.

Today, I’m going to walk you through why it’s so important for you to get started casting right away, how to choose your first spells, and actually start casting. I’ll give you three examples of excellent beginner spells that you can try out to start getting your feet wet and really make that transition from thinking about becoming a witch to actually casting spells and practicing magic. If you a beginner witch or even if you’ve already cast a few spells and want a little more guidance before trying again, this is for you.

The Importance Of Not Waiting

Now, before we get into the how of spellcasting, I really want to talk about why it is so important for you to start casting spells as soon as possible. I have worked with far too many students who have spent months or even years thinking about and reading about witchcraft, but who never felt like they were ready to cast that first spell. As a result, they have never done any magic, despite having had a truly genuine desire to practice for a long time!

This does not need to be the case.

Witchcraft can seem very intimidating, it can feel scary, especially with the way that the media and society at large portrays magic and witchcraft. There is a lot of fear mongering going on, giving you this idea that you’re going to attract spirits, or if you mess up your spellcasting even a little bit, that horrible consequences will result.

The reality is, a catastrophe like that is extremely unlikely. In 99.9% of cases, the worst thing that is likely to happen as a result of a beginner casting a spell wrong is… nothing. That’s it. Your spell doesn’t work and nothing happens.

Magic is relatively complex, and the beginning stages of spellcasting are really just about feeling out your own magic and trying to figure out what works for you personally. There is a lot of variation from person to person in what type of magic and spellcasting actually works for them. So for the vast majority of people, when they first start using magic, I would say probably only 20-30% of their magic actually works.

Some people get very lucky and are either uniquely talented and capable of utilizing a broad range of magic, or they happen to stumble on a type of magic that they just happen to be very good at.  So it is possible that you can start spellcasting and immediately be pretty good at it, but if that is not your experience, it’s okay! There is nothing wrong with you. Even witches with years of experience have spells flop at times.

Trial and error is a big part of making your magic practice work. And that is one of the reasons why starting hands-on spellcasting as early as possible is so important. The longer you wait to start using magic and actually casting spells, the longer it is going to take you to figure out what kind of magic really works best for you.

You are here wanting to cast spells and learn witchcraft because you want power over your life. You want the ability to change things, to draw in new love, to attract more money, to change circumstances, to overcome obstacles in your life using magic. That is the whole point of spellcasting! It’s to be able to change your life and take back personal sovereignty. My goal as a teacher is always to help you get the tools and the knowledge that you need to actually change your reality as quickly and as efficiently as possible. And to do that, you need to start casting spells. Not in a week, not in a month, not in a year, but today.

And the truth is, you are as ready as you will ever be! So many people wait for far too long because they feel like they’re not ready. But I don’t care how much reading you do, you will never feel ready to cast that first spell by reading books and blog posts alone. We build confidence in magic by doing magic. So even if you don’t feel ready, I promise you, it is time to cast that first spell.

You are not going to attract the attention of unwanted spirits. Your spell is not going to backfire and ruin your life. The only bad thing that is likely to happen as a result of you casting your first spell is your spell simply falling flat. And I can tell you right now, as someone who’s been practicing witchcraft for my entire life, I still experience spell failure. It is just a part of life. Magic is real and so it behaves just like everything else in the real world. And as in all things, there is a margin of error and nobody is perfect. So you do not need to wait until you feel like you can do everything perfectly to just get started!
