Some Humor for Your Day

A judge tells the defendant, “You’re charged with attacking your boss with a hammer.”

“You jerk!” yells a voice in the back of the courtroom.

“You’re also charged with attacking a bartender with a hammer”, the judge continues.

“Jerrkkk!” bellows the same man.

The judge bangs his gavel. “Sir,” he says, “one more outburst and I’ll charge you with contempt.”

“I’m sorry, Your Honor”, says the man. “But I’ve been his neighbor for 10 years, and every time I ask to borrow a hammer; he said he didn’t have one.”

On the day of the First Quarter phase the moon is high overhead at sunset and is visible until mid-night when it sets in the west. The First Quarter phase is a one-day event and in the following days enters a Waxing Gibbous phase becoming more illuminated each day until the Full Moon.

Blessed Be Pagans! Back again for another round of the Herbal Grimoire! As I stated last article, we are
going to continue to jump around a bit and not continue in that Alphabetical order (that’s just boring).
This week we will explore two herbs that have been used not only in Pagan practice, but in Christian
practice for Centuries!

Goddess Herb – Myrrh

Myrrh has a feminine aspect. It is closely connected to the Moon and Jupiter while associating with the
element of Water. This herb is used for cleansing purposes. The Magickal qualities for rituals is
protection and consecration. The Christians or Catholic Church use this in combination with other herbs
to perform exorcisms. This is because of the cleansing and healing qualities of it. The energies that
come from this herb can lend itself to the Universe for Spirituality, Transformation and Healing.
Myrrh has been widely used in Pagan practices for centuries before the Christian movement for many of
the same purposes. Uses for consecration of tools to help with prosperity for forging and harvesting as

well as protections for the home and hearth. Myrrh has many medicinal uses as well, but I would
suggest contacting a Nutritionist or an Herbalist or even a Naturopath to understand that aspect of this
herb.
When using Myrrh in spellcasting, understand that this herb will not just graze those it passes when sent
out into the Universe, but will embrace and protect those it touches. So, when in Spellcasting or
Magickal working, remember your intentions must be pure, as you can affect millions. If your intentions
are not pure, what you send, with that deceit, will come back to you threefold.

God Herb – Frankincense

Frankincense has a masculine aspect. It is closely connected with the Sun and the element of Fire.
Frankincense is actually referenced in the Bible as a key ingredient in the holy incense. This is the
incense that God asked Moses to make in Exodus for the Ark of the Covenant. This is also, as was
Myrrh, presented to Jesus by the Three Wise Men as they acknowledged the Child of the Divine.
In Christianity, it is actually said to be forbidden to use as a personal incense. Which is why the Churches
used it, as then it signified the gift to Christ. However, in Pagan times, for Centuries before Christianity,
and during and till now it is widely used for its powerful energies that help guide meditation, for its
purity in cleansing sacred spaces and to aid in reaching a spiritual mindset. Frankincense is also used
consecration for tools for Magickal Altars.

Understanding the power of these two herbs and the historical significance is huge. More research by
you should be paid to these two highly popular and very usefull herbs. These two herbs, used in
combination together during Spellcasting or Magickal working can have an enormous impact on the
energies you are raising.
One used of these two in combination would be Drawing Down the Moon. These two herbs can allow
that connection with Lady Luna to amplify. But remember, when Drawing Down the Moon, one MUST
ground after the ritual. This will bring you back to the Earth and will also help to direct he energy that

you will gain from that process to the Earth and to all of its creatures, may they be plant, animal or
human.
Blessed Be Brothers & Sisters!
Happy Spellcasting!

Ogham

Phagos

Teaching, education, mastery, virtuosity, legacy

Tree: Beech (Fagus spp.)

Letter: Ph or F

Phagos is a reminder of the mental discipline it takes in the process of acquiring knowledge. When you get to the point of knowing a subject so well, you can teach it effortlessly, then you have mastered the subject on the mental plane, which reverberates through the other planes. Saturated knowledge is knowing a thing inside and out. Those who believe in reincarnation believe this is the kind of knowledge that does not go away when you shed one mortal body for the next one: for instance, a skilled midwife will stand a good chance of coming back as a competent ob/gyn who stumbles upon their talent in a seemingly random way. Or a lute player may be reborn and pick up the guitar at age twelve and learn it faster than any other kid in their class because of knowledge picked up in past lifetimes.

Teaching and inspiring others to master a subject is the physical manifestation of knowledge, or in old terminology, the Word made flesh. Beech tree bark makes a primitive form of paper. Phagos implies the written word and the transmission of knowledge through our uniquely human invention: writing.

Teachers and teaching are often undervalued in the modern West, with denigrations such as “those who can, do; those who can’t, teach,” being thrown about by the arrogant who have never been able to translate their mental skill in a way that consistently inspires others to learn. Bad teachers abound, and they can be bad for any number or reasons: some choose teaching when they have no passion for it, some want the glory of being labeled a teacher. Everybody knows that a good teacher is worth their weight in gold when it comes to the transmission of knowledge, and that a bad teacher is hardly worth the powder to blow them to hell, and often what a teacher is paid has nothing to do with what they’re worth. If you have a good teacher, let them know. Learn all you can while you are able to do so with the best teachers you can find (we live in the age of the internet, and a huge number of great teachers “live” there). Concentrate on a small number of subjects until you gain complete mastery, because you will take that knowledge with you long after your current flesh body dies. If you know a subject well enough to teach it, this Ogham is encouraging you to spread the wealth of your knowledge with other humans in a direct and potentially physical way such as writing.

Love: Choose your thoughts and words wisely in your relationship and remember to be tolerant.

Business: Use the right words and you will help sustain and nourish your business.

Personal: Now is a good time to clear out all that is not worthy from your life.

Overview: I relates to nourishment. In the same way that food is used to nourish your body, I suggests that words and ideas be used in the same way. It cautions that as with food your words should be chosen carefully. Just as bad food can upset you or those around you, bad words can do the same. When the body and spirit are both well provided for then you will be at your most powerful and effective.

Good Day WOTC Family and Friends – Another Change in Posting

An explanation for changing most posts back to how they were done before combining posts. Well, after trying the combined posts for over a week visitors and posts viewed have gone way down. As those numbers count towards the pennies a day I get for running WOTC my income from here has dropped from $0.33 USD per day to $0.20 USD per day. WordPress only pays out once a person reaches $100.00 no matter how long that might take. I only average about $105.00 USD every other month before I changed to the combined posts. This month I will not even make it to $50.00 USD for the entire month of May. What does this mean for how I do postings? It means I have to uncombine some of the ones I started combining 9 days ago. I cannot afford to get paid every 3 months by WordPress for the ads you see when going to different posts. Being paid every other month is hard enough on my income. I am on Social Security disability for which I get under $900.00 USD per month to pay all my bills and cover WOTC email and other monthly charges. I hope you understand why I have to make this change. I could leave the posts as is if there are a few people who would like to donate $5.00 to $10.00 USD or more every month 😉.

I am on disability for a combination of physical health problems the leading cause is have degenerative disc disease, which in my case means I have about 4 good discs in my entire spinal column the rest are either gone or bulging in towards the my central nervous system. This is a leading cause of why my fibromyalgia is getting worse instead of staying at the same level as it was when I was diagnosed with it about 10 years ago or at least that is what my doctors tell me. I DDD is also why I have so much trouble with my lower back and sciatic nerves. These things added on to of arthritis makes it very difficult just to do normal daily things like walk unaided inside my own home much less to set at my desk to get posts done but I am in no way giving up bring you fun, informative, and I hope interesting information daily.

Ok time to get off my soap box and get the regular daily posts done. Daily posts will appear as follows in your inbox. The topics that are posted the day before for the Northern Hemisphere will be reposted on the correct date.

Good Day WOTC Family and Friends Here is a Thought for Today

It is such a beautiful day here that my inner child wants to run in a field of wildflowers but the grown-up me knows it will bring on an allergy attack. So, instead I will walk by the unused railroad tracks a few feet from my home and see what is blooming there. I woke up knowing I had a to-do list but part of it can wait until later in the day so I can enjoy this morning walking and taking in what Mother Earth/Gaia has to offer for all my senses including what some call the sixth sense.

I hope it is nice wherever you live, and you can take some time, no make some time, for taking in Mother Earth/Gaia’s gifts that tantalize your sense of smell, taste, touch, seeing, and hearing the beauty left on this planet. Do not for get your sixth sense to open up to what is offered metaphysically!.

International Towel Day 2023: Dates, History and Significance

I do not know how many of you are a fan of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy but it is one of my all-time favorite books. The movie is ok but, in my opinion, it does not do justice to Douglas Adams classic story. I had no idea there was or is a television series based on the book.

Anyway, today is TOWEL DAY!

International Towel Day 2023: Dates, History and Significance

Why do you need a towel? The towel is said to play an important role in “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” The day has become a sort of ”nerd holiday” over time due to its association with the popular television series.

Towel Day on May 25 is an annual celebration created by Douglas Adams’s admirers in his honour. Adams is the author of the classic science fiction novel “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” This day was created in his honour after he died of a cardiac attack at the age of 49. His fans desired a means to commemorate his life’s work, and after one successful towel day, it became an annual event. On this particular day, fans tote towels wherever they go.

HISTORY OF TOWEL DAY

Towel Day is observed on May 25, two weeks after Adams’s passing on May 11, 2001. The day has become a sort of ”nerd holiday” over time due to its association with the popular television series.

Why do you need a towel? The towel is said to play an important role in “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” Adams described towels as the most useful item for interstellar travellers. In chapter three of the book, he writes, “According to the book, a towel is the single most useful item for an interstellar voyager.

Adams’s most important piece of advice was, “Never leave home without a towel.” This day has been observed for the past 19 years and is a great opportunity for science fiction fans from around the globe to celebrate… with their towels. It is said that Adams was a humorous author and witty individual, and that this day commemorates his endearing foolishness.

Goddesses and Gods – Greek Titans – Goddesses – Themis, Tethys/ God Oceanus

The reason for two Goddesses today is this will complete the first generation of Greek Titans.

Greek Titan – Themis, goddess of divine law and order

Themis was a Titan goddess of divine law, order and costums. She was a daughter of Uranus and Gaea and was a messenger of the very first rules of conduct, established by the elder gods. Her place was at the Oracle of Delphi where she was one of the early prophets, second more precisely, according to Aeschylus. In a role of divine voice (themistes), she first instructed the primal laws of justice and morality to mankind. Some of these were precepts of piety, rules of hospitality, good governance, conduct of assembly and various offerings to gods. Themis was also known to be a counsellor of Zeus, advising the king of gods on the conduct of men. Alongside her daughter Dike(justice), she would have reported to Zeus, if the primal laws had been breached by anyone. She is also said to had, on Zeus` orders, gathered all the gods to the assembly on Olympus during Trojan war.

Prophecies of Themis

In her time, Themis proclaimed some of the most famous prophecies such as the fall of theTitans where she prophesied that the war will not be won by brute strength and violence but by respecting the counsels of craft and gaining the upper hand in war. This probably meant that Olympians gained the advantage when Zeus released the Cyclopes and Hekatoncheries from Tartarus. The Cyclopes built them the weapons while Hekatoncheries were at the scene itself, bombarding the titans with rocks. She also prophesied the death of Giants who would attempt to dethrone Zeus and the world after the flood where she, later, instructed Deucalion, a son of Prometheus, and Pyrrha, a daughter of Epimetheus, to repopulate the world with throwing “bones” of their “mother” behind their shoulders. According to some authors she also warned Zeus about marrying Tethis but some other authors are crediting Prometheus with this particular prophecy. According to Aeschylus` Prometheus Bound, Themis is credited to be the mother of Prometheus so their shared visions may not be so far-fetched.

Horae and Moirai

Themis was not only a counsellor of Zeus but was one of his earliest brides and together they gave birth to Hours and Fates who together represented the establishment of natural law and order. Despite being one of the favourites of Zeus, she was, according to Ovid`s Fasti, overlooked by Cronus and the titans and was relegated to the lowest place in pecking order.

Horae (seasons or hours)

– First Generation

Auxo or Auxesia – goddess of spring growth who increased growth and prosperity of fields.

Carpo or Karpo – goddess of the fruits of the earth. She represented Autumn and was worshiped alongside Auxo by ancient Greeks.

Thallo – goddess of spring buds and shots. She was representing summer and plant raising.

– Second Generation

Dike or Dice – goddess of fair judgements, based on rules, costums and moral order. She was the enemy of all falsehood and a protectress of wise administration of justice.

Eirene or Irene – goddess of peace and seasons of the spring. She is identified as Hora Thallo in Hesiod`s Theogony.

Eunomia – goddess of order and law. She was representing internal stability in society. The Greeks also identified her as a spring goddess of green pastures.

Moirai (fates)

Atropos or Aisa – goddess of inevitable. She was the oldest of three fates and determined the mechanism of death for all mortals.

Clotho – goddess of spinning the thread of lives. She had control over the decision of who was born and also decided whether the lives of mortals or gods were to be saved or to extinguish.

Lachesis – goddess of destiny. She was measuring life spun which was spinning by Clotho and therefore determined a life thread of all mortals and decided how much lifetime was to be allowed for each being.

Other myths

Themis is also said to had helped Leto, along with her sisters Theia and Rhea, with a birth of Apollo and later suckled him with heavenly nectar and ambrosia. According to Ovid`s Metamorphoses, Themis was the one who released Sphinx to Thebes to annoy travellers with its riddles. And once Oedipus solved the riddle and destroyed Sphinx, Themis was heartbroken and angered. Without delay she sent another savage beast, this time to ravage the city.

Greek Titan – Oceanus, god of river Okeanos

Oceanus (Okeanos, Ocean) was a Titan god of enormous river called Okeanos which was believed to be encircling the world and was connecting this world to other realms, such as heavenly realms from which the gods came and underworld where the souls of the dead lived. He was a personification of all salt water of the world, more precisely Mediterranean SeaAtlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean which were the most familiar to ancient Greeks at the time, and all the fresh water that includes rivers, lakes, streams and rain. Oceanus was originally the source of all the water. However, when geography became more known and accurate to the Greeks, he was placed to represent more stranger and unknown waters of Atlantic and Indian Ocean while Mediterranean Sea was ruled by a younger god Poseidon and rivers, fountains, streams and rain waters were controlled by the titan’s sons and daughters. Oceanus was, according to most authors, a first descendant of Uranus and Gaea and was married to his sister Tethys. Together they gave birth to three thousand Potamoi or river gods and Oceanids, known as nymphs of rivers, lakes, streams, fountains and wells which never ran dry. But according to Ovid, Oceanus is said to be one of the primeval deities, born alongside Gaea.

Not interested in power and warfare

Unlike his other brothers, Oceanus, according to Apollodorus, never participated in plotting nor castration of his father Uranus. He was also not interested and never joined his brothers in the war against younger Olympian gods. Unlike Prometheus and Epimetheus, who had sided with the Olympians during the war, he rather withdrew himself from the conflict. And, because of it, he was never imprisoned in Tartarus by Zeus when the war, where the Titans had lost, was over. Oceanus is also said, according to Homer, to had never participated at the Assembly of the Gods during the Trojan war where Zeus requested for all gods to attend.

Famous islands and shores of Oceanus

Most known island was the Elysian fields or island of the blessed. It was a place where the souls of extraordinary mortals went and it was believed to be along the shore of deep swirling Oceanus somewhere in the underworld. Another known island was the Sarpedon which was a home of the Gorgons, surrounded by Oceanus. It was near Erythia and the Garden of Hesperides. Erythia was the red sunset isle, home of the giant Geryon, where Heracles went in one of his labors and had to acquire the giant’s cattle. Garden of Hesperides, controlled by Hera, was known as Hesperia or the evening isle in far west of the world.

In the northern stream of Oceanus, beyond northern mountains, was the land of Hyperboreans. They were a blessed race, sacred to Apollo who came to live there during winter time. It is said that people there lived a long life, free of wars and diseases in the realm of eternal spring. In the southern shores of Oceanus, from the farthest east to the farthest west, was the land of Ethiopians.

Greek Titan – Tethys, goddess of fresh water

Tethys was a Titan goddess of all the fresh water on earth. She was one of six daughters of Uranus and Gaea. She appropriately married Oceanus (personification of all the salt water on earth) and, according to Hesiod, they gave birth to three thousand Potamoi or river gods and Oceanids, known as nymphs of seas, rivers, lakes, streams, fountains, and marshes. She was also believed to be nursing and feeding her children by drawing water from Oceanus through subterranean channels and also taking care for all creatures living in the waters such as fish, seals and dolphins. During the war between the Titans and younger Olympian gods Tethys was believed to had been raising Hera as her step-child. According to Claudian she is also said to had been taking care of Helios and Selene. In art she is often depicted with a small pair of wings just above her eyebrows which probably presents her not only being a mother of rivers, streams and other supplies of fresh water but also as a mother of Nephelai (rain-clouds) and Aurai (breeze) who are associated with Sky deities.

Deception of Zeus

Tethys is not directly involved in this myth but is just used as an excuse by Hera. She appears in the Homer’s epic of Trojan war where Hera deceived Zeus in order for other gods to involve in the battlefield, despite the direct order of Zeus not to involve. Hera lied to Zeus by telling him that she was going to visit Tethys and Oceanus. Instead she went to Aphrodite who helped her to beauty herself and prepare a seduction plan. Hera then seduced Zeus and made love with him until exhaustion which gave a window of opportunity for other gods to interfere in the battlefield and consequently for the Greeks to regain an upper hand in the war.

Sacrificial altar among 13,000 relics unearthed at Sanxingdui archaeological site in China

A turtleshell-shaped box and a sacrificial altar are among a treasure trove of 13,000 relics dating back over 3,000 years discovered by archaeologists in southwest China.

The relics – many made of gold, bronze and jade – were unearthed in six sacrificial pits at the Sanxingdui archaeological site, near Chengdu, Chinese state media reported Monday, June 14, 2022.

Historians know relatively little about the Sanxingdui culture, which left behind no written records or human remains, though many believe it to be part of the ancient kingdom of Shu. It’s hoped the latest finds will shed light on the kingdom, which ruled in the western Sichuan basin along the upper stream of the Yangtze River until it was conquered in 316 BC.

A joint team of archaeologists from Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute, Peking University, Sichuan University and other research institutions have been excavating the six pits at the site since 2020.

In the most recent excavation, archeologists found 3,155 relatively intact relics, including more than 2,000 bronze wares and statues, China’s state news agency Xinhua reported.

New finds from the past

Researchers described a turtleshell-shaped box made of bronze and jade as among their more intriguing finds, saying it was the first time they had uncovered such an item.

“It would not be an exaggeration to say that the vessel is one of a kind, given its distinctive shape, fine craftsmanship and ingenious design. Although we do not know what this vessel was used for, we can assume that ancient people treasured it,” Li Haichao, a professor at Sichuan University, told Xinhua.

A bronze altar nearly 3-feet tall (0.9 meters) was also found in one of the pits, where people of the click here to read the rest of this article
