Coll

C, sometimes read as K, is Coll, which is the Hazel tree. August is known as the Hazel Moon, because this is when Hazel nuts appear on the trees–the world Coll translates to “the life force inside you”, and what better symbol of life than the nut itself? Hazel is associated with wisdom and creativity and knowledge. Sometimes it is connected in Celtic lore with magical springs, sacred wells, and divination.

Hazel was a handy tree to have around. It was used by many English pilgrims to make staffs for use upon the road–not only was it a sturdy walking stick, it also provided a modicum of self-defense for weary travelers. Certainly, it could have been used as well for ritual. Hazel was used in weaving of baskets by medieval folk, and the leaves were fed to cattle because it was believed this would increase the cow’s supply of milk.

In the Irish myth cycles, there is a tale that nine hazel nuts dropped into a sacred pool. A salmon came along in the pool and gobbled up the nuts, which then imbued him with wisdom. A variation of the story appears in the legend of Finn Mac Cumhail, who ate the salmon and then took on the knowledge and wisdom of the fish. Note that Mac Cumhail is often translated as Mac Coll.

Our guardian angels are quite creative in the way they communicate with people. Never one to converse directly, they usually speak to us in the form of signs, symbols, and numbers.

Now, these numbers called angel numbers carry special meanings that we must decipher into normal language; only then can we receive and interpret our messages from the celestial beings properly.

Angels can find solutions to problems from different perspectives—perspectives that are beyond our imagination.

After all, unlike us, our angels are not limited by time nor space. They can look at a problem from different angles and guide us in the right direction.

So, if you see angel numbers, decipher them and adhere to the suggestions provided. There are many such numbers but today, let’s talk about angel number 14.

Spell for Tody – A Colorful Sunny Day Spell c. 2018

Finally, it’s Sunday, the official day of rest. Not only do Christians acknowledge this day, but I’m sure many Pagans appreciate this day, as well. Everyone needs rest and lot of people need a good day to worship their creator (whomever or whatever that may be), however they deem fit to do so. With the Sun being the central theme of many ancient rituals, Sunday just seems to fit, in name and theory. Not only is it a good day to worship, it seems good to do more relaxed spells, such as, sleep, dream and rebirth.

A Colorful Sunny Day Spell

Try working this spell on a gloomy, rainy Sunday, or any day. It will lift your spirits, no matter what the weather.

Slip on your sunny outfit or wear your sun-themed jewelry, and then take a moment to imagine yourself either on a sun-drenched beach or in the middle of a bright meadow with the sun streaming down on you. Now picture that a little of the sun’s warmth is soaking into the bright colors or jewelry that you are wearing. Do you feel a bit warmer? While you are visualizing this for a moment or two, repeat the following spell three times:

Even though the skies may be cloudy and gray
I will wear the colors of the sun today
For the colors of yellow, gold, and orange, you see
Work their own sunny magick; so mote it be!

Close the spell by saying:

For the good of all, with harm to none
By color and light, this spell is done!
Then take a deep breath, blow it out, and go dazzle ’em today!

Spell for Today – Exercise Spell c. 2018

Exercise Spell

Items needed for this spell:
Your body
Put on your exercise apparel and start your exercise routine. Do whatever warm-ups you need to do, before starting this spell. Once you are warmed-up, Hold up your hands up in the air and move your arms in gesture, as you say this chant eight times:

“I’m a tree, I’m a tree.
Today is two, for Tuesday.
Tomorrow is three.
Tonight the moon will rise.
Everyone tells me it’s good for
the body,
And that I need to exercise.”

Then, put your hands on your waste. Bend to your left side, eight times, while saying this chant:

“I’m a tree, I’m a tree.
I sway and bend.
One, two, three.
Limbering up for wind.”
Repeat this chant for the right side:
“I’m a tree, I’m a tree.
I sway and bend.
One, two, three.
Limbering up for wind.”

Now, bend over and touch your toes for about eight times. Each time you bend over, say this chant:

“I’m a tree, I’m a tree.
Today is two, for Tuesday.
Tomorrow is three.
Tonight the moon will rise.
I know it’s good for my body,
And that I need to exercise.”

Then, stand on one leg for about a fifteen seconds and alternate between both legs, for a total of about 4 minutes, while doing this, say this chant:

“I’m a tree, I’m a tree.
Today is two, for Tuesday.
Tomorrow is three.
Tonight the moon will rise.
If I want to stay healthy,
I need to exercise.”

Finally, run in place for about 10 minutes and say this chant:

“Step, step, step, step.
One after another
And more to go.
I’m running and talking,
Every day, a little further.
Taking breaths and walking.
Every inch grows.
Step, step, step, step.
Keep going.
Water in my cup.
Or bottled not to spill.
Always a test of the mind,
And a test of the will.
Might run tired,
But I never give up.”

Saying these chants while exercising, will, hopefully, ensure your desire to repeat these routines, week after week, and make the time go by quicker.

Spell for Today – 3 Sleep Spells

A Spell for While you Sleep

You will need the following items for this spell:

Four lengths of appropriately coloured ribbon
which can be easily tied
Four pins
Your bed

Knot magic has a particular effect in ‘binding’ or fixing a spell in place and with the addition of colour it is possible to use ribbons to bring about a desired outcome. By using your own bed as a focus, your magical work can be done while you sleep. This is a very personal way of working and one which can bring particularly positive results.

If your bed has bedposts, simply knot a length of the correct colour ribbon for your purpose around each post.

Each time you do this, say:

With this knot of coloured ribbon

Bring to me the power hidden. Grant me that right Throughout this night.

If your bed has no posts then carefully pin the knotted ribbon to each corner using the same words.
Each night for two further nights touch each ribbon knot in turn and repeat the words above.

Leave the ribbons in place until you no longer feel the need for them. You can expect to have some fairly vivid dreams over the following three nights, which may help you to develop the qualities you seek. This spell allows your unconscious self to work in a protected space without the chatter of day to day matters.

To Protect a Sleeping Mind

You will need the following items for this spell:

Voice

Sleep is the time of dreams and visits. The following incantation repeated aloud at one’s bedtime will aid in the discouraging of unwanted visitors in the dreaming mind.

Before retiring for the night, repeat the following incantation aloud:

”Spirits of the night, I beseech thee,

Find favor with mine call and plea,

Draw close and circle round

Mine mind I clear and lend to sleep.

That sleep will use to rest the weary world

Let not the world and those unfavorable things within it

Visit upon mine mind unheralded

Uninvited visitors be sent away

Turned back

Turned back to the dark depths

Turned back to the sender whose name is never spoken

That thus he may gain strength

Gain strength and threaten those unable

Unable or unknowing

Unknowing or innocent

Innocents in the world

Sleeping as I sleep

Spirits of the night, I beseech thee,

Find favor with mine call and plea

Find favor and protect mine mind

Find favor and protect the innocents”.

This is best repeated nightly so as to protect ones mind and allow peaceful sleep and promote quiet dreams.

To Drive Away Bad Dreams

You will need the following items for this spell:

Bowl of warm water
Salt
Your chosen sprigs of herbs
String

This spell uses herbal magick and correspondences to clear the bedroom of negative influence. It is often a good idea to use material that is easily available, so you might use sprigs of rosemary, sage, Lady’s bedstraw, maize silks or broom-corn. Since you want something taken away you should perform this magical working as the Moon wanes.

Dissolve the salt in the warm water.

Tie the herbs together.

Dip the sprigs in the water and sprinkle the corners of the room with the water.

Use the sprigs to sprinkle the salt water on your bedclothes, and particularly round the head and foot of the bed.

When you have done this, place the herbs under your pillow, or if you prefer, under the middle of the bed.

The next morning, discard the herbs at a crossroads if you can, either by burying them or allowing them to disperse to the four winds. Otherwise ensure that you have carried them well away from your home.
This carries all negativity away from your bedroom and bed. This spell uses rosemary which brings clarity, sage for wisdom, ladies bedstraw which is said to have lined the manger at Christs birth, and broom corn, which is used in worship of the Mexican goddess Chicomecohuatl. All these herbs bring cleansing, not just of the room but also of the occupants aura or subtle energy. On the basis that one should always replace negative with positive, you may like to use the following technique to bring about positive dreams.

Having prepared your environment, this next technique is of most use when there is a strong, deeply felt association with the issue or request being considered in magical terms, ideal conditions for spell working. It is like being able to consult an encyclopedia that contains a wealth of information in fact, the Higher Self.

Spell for Today – 3 To have Someone Call You Spells

To Have Someone Call You

Put a glass of water in the middle of your altar. Pour two or three teaspoons of salt into your dominant hand, and use it to make 3 equal armed crosses over the glass allowing some salt to fall into the water while doing this chant:

Hear me, call me get in touch
We need to talk please hurry rush

Expect to hear from the person by the time the water evaporates.

Another Spell To Have Someone Call You

Firmly push a needle into the center of a yellow un-anointed candle until the eye is flush with the candle. Inscribe the persons name onto the candle using your athame or a pin, light the wick. The person will usually call before the candle burns halfway down.

The Phone Charm

Take a piece of fine writing paper, inscribe the person’s name twice in a circle to make the ends meet. As you do this concentrate on their face and your desire for them to call you, then while still concentrating put a needle through the circle then place the charm by the phone. In either 5 minutes or 5 days your call will come, depending on how much energy you put into it!
