The New Moon is the first lunar phase, occurring when both the Sun and the Moon have the same ecliptic longitude. During the New Moon phase, the lunar disk is invisible to the naked eye, except when it is silhouetted during a solar eclipse.
For many decades the New Moon term was used o describe the first visible crescent of the Moon after its conjunction with the Sun. This thin waxing crescent is observed for a short period as the Moon gets lower in the western skies after sunset.
You can consider the New Moon as the opposite of a Full Moon. With that being said, let’s dive in and explore some more facts about the New Moon.
A New Moon, in astronomy, marks the beginning of the first lunar phase. Many believe that this symbolizes new beginnings, and some people … Click here to read the rest of this article Source: nineplanets.org

A bit of herbal magick to help bless your kitchen. Witch spells with herbs are a common feature in kitchen witchery, and they do have great power.
Tie the bay leaf and strip of orange to the base of the rosemary, and wrap around enough times to keep it all secure. Now hang this up somewhere in your kitchen to help purify the space and bring positive energy into your home.

The Koran, the Bible and other books are perceived as having inherent magickal power because they are sacred texts. Sacred texts are not restricted to monotheistic faiths.
The works of Homer and Virgil, the Indian Vedas, and the Chinese I-Chingor Book of Changes are allconsidered sacred texts. The crucial question, in terms of successful spellcasting is “are any of those texts sacred foryou?” Sacred texts by definition, are so inherently charged with baraka and heka that, like a saint from beyond the grave, anyone may access that power. However, magick is both in the transmitter and the receiver, it is a reciprocal process. The most powerful sacred texts for you are those that you perceive as sacred. If your sacred texts are Broadway show tunes or doo-wop songs, then incorporate them into your spells in the same manner that you would any other sacred text.
Methods for the magickal use of psalms and sacred texts include:
*Whispering texts over a cup of water, which is then given to someone to drink(although the spell-caster may also desire to drink it, depending on the purpose of the spell.)
*Writing texts down on paper, then dissolved in liquid and drunk(by the spell-caster or the person of the spell: this derives from ancient Egyptian methods.)
*Wearing them as amulets, for empowerment and to transmit constant, considered magick energy.
*Tracing them on an apple with a pin; depending on the nature of the spell the apple is then eaten by the spell-caster of feed to the person the spell is intended for.

The current moon phase for July 8th, 2025 is the Waxing Gibbous phase.
On this day, the moon is 13.5 days old and 95.75% illuminated with a tilt of 116.104°. The approximate distance from Earth to the moon is 397,988.81 km and the moon sign is Sagittarius.
The Moon phase for July 8th, 2025 is a Waxing Gibbous phase. This is the phase where the moon is more than 50% illuminated but has not yet reached 100% illumination (which would be a Full Moon).
In the Northern Hemisphere, the right side will be illuminated, and in the Southern hemisphere it’ll be the left side that is illuminated.
The Waxing Gibbous phase, like all moon phases, will last for just over 7 days. The actual length will vary because of the elliptical shaped orbit of the moon. During this Waxing Gibbous phase the moon will rise in the east in the mid- to late-afternoon and will be high in the eastern sky at sunset.
Assuming it’s a clear night, the Waxing Gibbous moon will then be visible through most of the night before setting just before sunrise.
Fun fact: the word Gibbous was first used in the 14th century and comes from the latin word gibbosus which means humpbacked.

It takes 29.53 days for the Moon to orbit the Earth and go through the lunar cycle of all 8 Moon phases.
There are 8 lunar phases the Moon goes through in its 29.53 days lunar cycle. The 4 major Moon phases are Full Moon, New Moon, First Quarter and Last Quarter. Between these major phases, there are 4 minor ones: the Waxing Crescent, Waxing Gibbous, Waning Gibbous and Waning Crescent.
