Spell for Today – CAST A WITCH’S LUCKY CANDLE SPELL c. 2010

CAST A WITCH’S LUCKY CANDLE SPELL

take an orange candle anointed with cinnamon oil, clove, or lotus oil.
Light the candle and say 3 times:
“brimstone, moon, and witch’s fire,
candlelights bright spell,
good luck shall I now acquire,
work thy magic well.
Midnight twelve, the witching hour,
bring the luck I seek.
By wax and wick now work thy power
as these words I speak.
Harming none, this spell is done.
By law of three, so mote it be

Saturday’s Witchery (Some of the Witchcraft/Magickal Correspondence) c. 2019

Saturday’s Witchery

Saturday is a day filled with opportunities to clean up and clear out. So if you are wondering why Hecate is assigned to this day, take another look at what she symbolizes and the magick that is associated with her. That should answer the question.

Hecate was the oldest form of the Greek Triple Goddess, as she presided over heaven, the underworld, and earth. Crossroads where three roads met were especially sacred to Hecate, earning her the title of Hekate of the Three Ways. It’s interesting to note that even after the worship of other goddesses waned, ancient people still worshiped Hecate as the Queen of the Underworld and the Guardian of the Three-Way Crossroad. It was also believed that if you left her an offering of food there, she would grant you her favors. As Hecate Trivia, her triple images were often displayed at these crossroads, where she was petitioned on the full moon for positive magick and on the dark of the moon for cursing and dark magick.

While this last bit of information sounds a little ominous, keep in mind that Hecate/Hekate was known by many titles and is a shapeshifter. Her appearance could and did change often. As a dark moon goddess, her faces are many. To some she may appear as a old crone, hunched over a smoking cauldron and draped in a midnight cape. To others she may appear as a dark beautiful, mysterious, and mature woman wearing a shimmering crown. To some she may be perceived as a maiden priestess. She was called the “most lovely one,” the Great Goddess of Nature, and the Queen of the World of Spirits. This dark goddess knows her way around the earth and the underworld. All the powers of nature, life, and death are at her command.

A Thought for Today – Good Morning Blessing c. 2018

Why All the Reposts from Lady Abyss this Past Week?

Lady of the Abyss 3/19/1961 – 6/13/2019

Lady Abyss or Lady A or her full pagan name Lady of the Abyss has been on my mind a lot this month. I would have been on the phone with probably more than once a day asking for help or just venting. So, I decide I am going to honor her memory by reposting Lady A’s original posts for some of our regular daily posts. She was a virtual font of knowledge. As I can afford it, I want to purchase some of the books she used for posts on WOTC.

For those of you who have joined the WOTC family after about the middle of June 2019 did not have the pleasure of knowing her, so I am going to tell you a little about this fantastic lady and witch.

Lady A founded WOTC in 2004 when the world wide web was just opening to individuals to start websites. She once told me that the Goddess had called her to do this work and so she did. She was all alone posting about witchcraft when she started out. Because she came so forcibly out of the broom closet back in the day, she received numerous hate mails and even death threats throughout her 20 some years bring the Goddess’ message to people around the world. She received the last death threat a mere month before she crossed the veil. One of the main groups that kept threatening her was ISIS. Much to her dismay she found out there were members of that group only about 20 miles from where she lived in Kentucky.

She was born as far as I remember her telling in the hills of eastern Kentucky but moved to around the center of the state as a young woman. Her style of witchcraft stemmed from her birthplace and family.

I was posting on WOTC for about 3 months until she talked me into opening my own website, covenlife.co, which I ran along with opening a witchcraft school on the website starting in I think 2014 or early in 2015. In May of 2019 Lady A had WOTC up for sale. We were talking on the phone one day shortly after and I told her I would love to take over WOTC but in no way had the money she was asking for it. Lady A totally surprised me by asking if I had WOTC would I keep it going in honor of the Goddess and continue the work she had started to help stop the hater towards witches because of the extremely bad reputation witches caused my movies, books, and most of all history (think of the Burning Times). I said I would and bam she gave me WOTC but if I ever went to dark magic only, she would shut the site down. Shutting it down meant all her hard work and knowledge would be lost. I did practice the dark side of Magick for a couple of years when I was in my late teens but have been a white/gray witch since 1978 which comes out to roughly 45 years.

Lady A was my mentor, dear friend, and heart sister. Looking at her death certificate closer than I could before I found out they only had a probable cause of death because there was no autopsy performed. She was cremated and I have no idea whether one of her two children or her estranged husband have the ashes. She was not give any type of “funeral” services. When I found out about her crossing in November of 2019 it was by accident while researching her contact information on the internet. I was in shock and heartbroken that no one had told me of her crossing. I only found out because it was time to fully change WOTC from her information to mine. I do know I spoke to her on the phone less than 24 hours before she crossed and she sounded fine. We were talking about how I had to make WOTC mine while still doing the Goddess’ work she was called to do a couple of decades before. I had only been running WOTC about a month when she crossed. This is hard for me to share going on 4 years later. I have the picture you see above on the wall next to my desk so when I get stuck or don’t feel like posting I can talk with her. Quite often I get an answer to what is troubling me and not just with WOTC. Her and I still rejoice when things are going well in my life, and she is there to kick me in the butt when needed also. At times I can feel her hovering next to me and it is a totally wonderful feeling.

I will be doing reposts here and there when this week is over because of the excellent things we can learn about witchcraft from WOTC’s founder and my muse for it, Lady of the Abyss. May she continue to walk by my side and help me bring meaningful things about witchcraft and life to you for however many years I have left to run this website.

I will add more to this story another day right now the tears of my memories of Lady A are making it hard to see my keyboard plus I do not want to get it wet.

A Look at Today’s USA Army’s View on Wicca and Other Pagan Paths

WICCA

OTHER NAMES BY WHICH KNOWN:
Witchcraft; Goddess worshippers; Neo-Paganism, Paganism, Norse (or any other ethnic designation) Earth Religion, Old Religion, Druidism, Shamanism.

Note: All of these groups have some basic similarities and many surface differences of expression with Wicca.

LEADERSHIP:
No central leadership. The Covenant of the Goddess annually elects a First Officer and there is a constitutional limit of two consecutive terms, but in practice officers have almost always served for one year only. In 1991, there are two Co-First Officers, Phoenix Whitebirch and Brandy Williams.

Note: This Covenant does not govern any Coven other than its’ own.

MEMBERSHIP:
Because of the complete autonomy of covens, this cannot be determined. There are an estimated of 50,000 Wiccans in the United States.

Hernes note: This number is now substantially higher and estimated at over 200,000 (now over 1.5 million in 2020). Wicca is currently the fastest growing spiritual path in the U.S.

HISTORICAL ORIGIN:
Wicca is a reconstruction of the Nature worship of tribal Europe, strongly influenced by the Living Nature worship traditions of tribal peoples in other parts of the world.

The works of such early twentieth century writers as Margaret Murray, Robert Graves and Gerald B. Gardner began the renewal of interest in the Old Religion. After the repeal of the anti-Witchcraft laws in Britain in 1951, Gardner publicly declared himself a Witch and began to gather a group of students and worshipers.

In 1962, two of his students, Raymond and Rosemary Buckland (religious names: Lady Rowen and Robat), emigrated to the United States and began teaching Gardnerian Witchcraft here. At the same time, other groups of people became interested through reading books by Gardner and others. Many covens were spontaneously formed, using rituals created from a combination of research and individual inspiration. These self-created covens are today regarded as just as valid as those who can trace a “lineage” of teaching back to England.

In 1975, a very diverse group of covens who wanted to secure the legal protections and benefits of church status formed Covenant of the Goddess (CoG), which is incorporated in the State of California and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. CoG does not represent all, or even a majority of Wiccans. A coven or an individual need not be affiliated with CoG in order to validly practice the religion. But CoG is the largest single public Wiccan organization, and it is cross-Traditional (i.e. non-denominational).

BASIC BELIEFS:
Wiccans worship the sacred as immanent in Nature, often personified as Mother Earth and Father Sky. As polytheists, they may use many other names for Deity. Individuals will often choose Goddesses or Gods from any of the world’s pantheons whose stories are particularly inspiring and use those Deities as a focus for personal devotions.

Similarly, covens will use particular Deity names as a group focus, and these are often held secret by the groups. It is very important to be aware that Wiccans do not in any way worship or believe in “Satan,” “the Devil,” or any similar entities. They point out that “Satan” is a symbol of rebellion against and inversion of the Christian and Jewish traditions.

Wiccans do not revile the Bible. They simply regard it as one among many of the world’s mythic systems, less applicable than some to their core values, but still deserving just as much respect as any of the others. Most Wiccan groups also practice magic, by which they mean the direction and use of “psychic energy,” those natural but invisible forces which surround all living things. Some members spell the word “magick,” to distinguish it from sleight of hand entertainments.

Wiccans employ such means as dance, chant, creative visualization and hypnosis to focus and direct psychic energy for the purpose of healing, protecting and aiding members in various endeavors. Such assistance is also extended to non-members upon request.

Many, but not all, Wiccans believe in reincarnation. Some take this as a literal description of what happens to people when they die. For others, it is a symbolic model that helps them deal with the cycles and changes within this life. Neither Reincarnation nor any other literal belief can be used as a test of an individual’s validity as a member of the Old Religion.

Most groups have a handwritten collection of rituals and lore, known as a Book of Shadows. Part of the religious education of a new member will be to hand copy this book for him or herself. Over they years, as inspiration provides, new material will be added. Normally, access to these books is limited to initiated members of the religion.

PRACTICES AND BEHAVIORAL STANDARDS:
The core ethical statement of Wicca, called the “Wiccan Rede” states “an it harm none, do what you will.” The rede fulfills the same function as does the “Golden Rule” for Jews and Christians; all other ethical teachings are considered to be elaborations and applications of the Rede. It is a statement of situational ethics, emphasizing at once the individual’s responsibility to avoid harm to others and the widest range of personal autonomy in “victimless” activities. Wicca has been described as having a “high-choice” ethic.

Because of the basic Nature orientation of the religion, many Wiccans will regard all living things as Sacred, and show a special concern for ecological issues. For this reason, individual conscience will lead some to take a pacifist position. Some are vegetarians. Others will feel that, as Nature’s Way includes self-defense, they should participate in wars that they conscientiously consider to be just. The religion does not dictate either position, but requires each member to thoughtfully and meditatively examine her or his own conscience and to live by it. Social forces generally do not yet allow Witches to publicly declare their religious faith without fear of reprisals such as loss of job, child custody challenges, ridicule, etc. Prejudice against Wiccans is the result of public confusion between Witchcraft and Satanism. Wiccans in the military, especially those who may be posted in countries perceived to be particularly intolerant, will often have their dog tags read “No Religious Preference.” Concealment is a traditional Wiccan defense against persecution, so non-denominational dog tags should not contravene a member’s request for religious services.

Wiccans celebrate eight festivals, called “Sabbats,” as a means of attunement to the seasonal rhythms of Nature. These are January 31 (Called Oimelc, Brigit, or February Eve), March 21 (Ostara or Spring Equinox), April 30 (Beltane or May Eve), June 22 (Midsummer, Litha or Summer Solstice), July 31 (Lunasa or Lammas), September 21 (Harvest, Mabon or Autumn Equinox), October 31 (Samhain, Sowyn or Hallows), and December 21 (Yule or Winter Solstice.)

Some groups find meetings within a few days of those dates to be acceptable, others require the precise date. In addition, most groups will meet for worship at each Full Moon, and many will also meet on the New Moon.

Meetings for religious study will often be scheduled at any time convenient to the members, and rituals can be scheduled whenever there is a need (i.e. for a healing). Ritual jewelry is particularly important to many Wiccans. In addition to being a symbol of religious dedication, these talismans are often blessed by the coven back home and felt to carry the coven’s protective and healing energy.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:
Most Wiccans meet with a coven, a small group of people. Each coven is autonomous. Most are headed by a High Priestess, often with the assistance of a High Priest. Some are headed by a High Priestess or High Priest without a partner, and some regard themselves as a gathering of equals. Covens can be of mixed gender, or all female or male, depending on the preferences of the members. Every initiate is considered to be a priestess or priest.

Most covens are small. Thirteen is the traditional maximum number of members, although not an absolute limit. At that size covens form a close bond, so Wiccans in the military are likely to maintain a strong affiliation with their covens back home. There are many distinct “Traditions” of Wicca, just as there are many denominations within Christianity.

The spectrum of Wiccan practice can be described as ranging from “traditional” to “eclectic,” with Traditions, covens and individuals fitting anywhere within that range. A typical difference would be that more traditional groups would tend to follow a set liturgy, whereas eclectic groups would emphasize immediate inspiration in worship.

These distinctions are not particularly important to the military chaplain, since it is unlikely that enough members of any one Tradition would be at the same base. Worship circles at military facilities are likely to be ad-hoc cross-Traditional groups, working out compromise styles of worship for themselves and constantly adapting them to a changing membership.

Therefore, the lack of strict adherence to the patterns of any one Tradition is not an indicator of invalidity. While many Wiccans meet in a coven, there are also a number of solitairies. These are individuals who choose to practice their faith alone. The may have been initiated in a coven or self initiated. They will join with other Wiccans to celebrate the festivals or to attend the various regional events organized by the larger community.

ROLE OF MINISTERS:
Within a traditional coven, the High Priestess, usually assisted by her High Priest, serves both as leader in the rituals and as teacher and counselor for coven members and unaffiliated Pagans. Eclectic covens tend to share leadership more equally.

WORSHIP:
Wiccans usually worship in groups. Individuals who are currently not affiliated with a coven, or are away from their home coven, may choose to worship privately or may form ad-hoc groups to mark religious occasions. Non-participating observers are not generally welcome at Wiccan rituals.

Some, but not all, Wiccan covens worship in the nude (skyclad) as a sign of attunement with Nature.

Most, but not all, Wiccan covens bless and share a cup of wine as part of the ritual. Almost all Wiccans use an individual ritual knife (an “athame”) to focus and direct personal energy. Covens often also have ritual swords to direct the energy of the group. These tools, like all other ritual tools, are highly personal and should never leave the possession of the owner.

Other commonly used ritual tools include a bowl of water, a bowl of salt, a censer with incense, a disk with symbols engraved on it (a “pentacle”), statues or artwork representing the Goddess and God, and candles. Most groups will bless and share bread or cookies along with the wine. All of these items are used in individual, private worship as well as in congregate rituals.

DIETARY LAWS OR RESTRICTIONS:
None.

FUNERAL AND BURIAL REQUIREMENTS:
None. Recognition of the death of a member takes place within the coven, apart from the body of the deceased. Ritual tools, materials, or writings found among the effects of the deceased should be returned to their home coven (typically a member will designate a person to whom ritual materials should be sent). It is desirable for a Wiccan priest or priestess to be present at the time of death, but not strictly necessary. If not possible, the best assistance would be to make the member as comfortable as possible, listen to whatever they have to say, honor any possible requests, and otherwise leave them as quiet and private as possible. (Sind Note Pagans can now have a pentagram on their headstone in any official USA military cemetary)

MEDICAL TREATMENT:
No medical restrictions. Wiccans generally believe in the efficacy of spiritual or psychic healing when done in tandem with standard medical treatment. Therefore, at the request of the patient, other Wiccan personnel should be allowed visiting privileges as though they were immediate family, including access to Intensive Care Units. Most Wiccans believe that healing energy can be sent from great distances, so, if possible, in the case of any serious medical condition, the member’s home coven should be notified.

OTHER:
With respect to attitude toward military service, Wiccans range from career military personnel to conscientious objectors. Wiccans do not proselytize and generally resent those who do. They believe that no one Path to the Sacred is right for all people, and see their own religious pattern as only one among many that are equally worthy. Wiccans respect all religions that foster honor and compassion in their adherents, and expect the same respect. Members are encouraged to learn about all faiths, and are permitted to attend the services of other religions, should they desire to do so.

We Must Hide No Longer c. 2011

We Must Hide No Longer

Author: Ryan Smith

Welcome to America, the self-proclaimed land of the free and home of the brave. The country where, at least in theory, one can practice any faith one wishes and can fully exercise as the Founding Fathers put it the “freedom of conscience.”

The First Amendment, which starts with “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, ” while plain on its face has had a lot of footnotes attached to it over the years by the Christian supermajority. Freedom of religion as long as your faith is Abrahamic in origin. Freedom from persecution as long as you kneel before the Cross. Freedom to worship openly and unhindered only if your faith is one that was thrust on your ancestors by foreign missionaries who claimed to have their best interests at heart.

As a member of what is America’s Invisible Minority, I am no stranger to what happens to Pagans when one is ‘outed’. While I have not been physically assaulted or fired because of my faith I do know what it is for people to go oddly silent when I offer a blessing. I know what it is to be mocked as “insane” and/or labeled a “devil-worshiper”. And of course, I have heard the ever-popular chastisement of, “You’re going to Hell.” I’m fairly sure that anyone whom is not Christian reading this knows what I’m talking about. I’m also fairly sure most people reading this, if they personally have not been the victims of it, at least know someone who lost their job shortly after being outed for “personality issues” or because “didn’t quite work out” or because “we no longer have need of your services.”

Then we have the worst examples: Brandi Blackbear, who was suspended from school for fifteen days in Oklahoma due to accusations of witchcraft (1) . In 1999 Tempest Smith of Michigan who, after school administrators washed their hands of the ongoing harassment by Christian students at her school, hung herself rather than deal with it any longer in 2001 (2) .

Palmdale, California, the state that is seen by many and prided as the most forward-thinking in the country, in 2002 had a local Christian group invade a Pagan store and harass, browbeat, intimidate, and threaten patrons who were honoring Ostara. The best part was when the Sheriff’s Department refused to investigate because, oh by the way, a volunteer department chaplain was at the attack and helped organize it (3) .

2004 in South Carolina saw local prosecutors state that a man accused of murder did so because he was Wiccan (4) . There is of course the infamous case of the Wiccan Nevada National Guardsman denied a pentacle on his headstone by the US government (5) .

In 2007 an Army Chaplain, in spite of his stellar record as a soldier and Chaplain, was not only denied his request to serve as a Wiccan Chaplain but also removed from the Chaplain’s Corps (6) . I’m sure there are plenty of other incidents like these that are as bad, possibly worse, that have not been mentioned here.

So what, you may be wondering, is the point of all this? The point is simple: we as a diverse group of Earth-based faith traditions are routinely disrespected and disregarded by American society as a whole.

Now I know a lot of Pagans are likely thinking to themselves, “Why should we care what a bunch of superficial ‘sheeple’ think? We’re free spirits who dance to the beat of our own drums and don’t care what other people say about us!” There is a very serious problem with that kind of thinking.

In the United States of America today there are about 300 million people (7) . Of that 300 million it is estimated only 1.3 million are Pagans of some kind or another (8) . As much as our independent spirit and willingness to question convention is probably our greatest strength it cannot be ignored that we are a tiny minority in an overwhelmingly Christian nation.

What would happen if, for example, the good people at Operation Rescue who had regularly targeted Dr. Tiller’s clinic in Kansas for protest (9) were very directly confronted in the national media and asked if their accusations of him being a mass-murderer (10) were responsible in some fashion for his cold-blooded assassination inside his own church? You would have wall-to-wall coverage of pundits, preachers, and politicians tearing their hair out and wailing about “persecution.”

Now what happens if, say, a Druid Grove is accused of human sacrifice? First off you probably wouldn’t see any media attention given to such a story unless someone decides to go and actually do something about “those dangerous cultists.” You would probably also see outrage and condemnation on the web on Pagan blogs. And just like many other instances of persecution after we as a whole vow “Never Again” and some group or foundation takes up the incident as their championed cause, it sinks back into the morass of apathy.

Why does this happen? Are we not devoted enough to our own dignity? The answer is rather more elementary than Pagans being undeserving or incapable of organizing or any of the other excuses bandied about.

With only a small handful of real victories against our persecutors and attackers, any move to do something about it is already seen by many as doomed to fail. Too many Pagans give our independent nature and notorious difficulty in being organized in any meaningful fashion as cop-outs to really having an impact on society and improving our standing in it. It is, sadly, understandable why many would do so.

Who wants to exhaust their time, money, and energy fighting for a cause pre-determined in the minds of their colleagues as lost? Everyone wants to be the hero riding over the hill; no one wants to be the person who makes the glorious last stand for a greater moral victory. Far better, it would be argued, to think small.

Better to gain a seat on an Interfaith Council or use of a Unitarian Church than to run for public office. Better to make small, easy victories than to organize, mobilize, and take the fight to where it matters most: the public square. Better to cede the debate to people who do not understand us and in many cases are actively hostile to us.

To take such an approach is to sacrifice the future of our faith, of our community, and of the next generation of Pagans for the sake of questionable comfort and unsteady safety in the immediate present. As Ben Franklin once said, “He who would give up a little liberty for a little security will gain neither and lose both.”

We cannot continue to “wait and see” or “let our moment come” or “try not to upset people.” We upset a sizable fraction of the population simply by breathing; staying quiet and walking small will not change that. I see no reason why we, a community that wears our free spirits as a badge of honor and believe in the importance of personal responsibility, should be afraid of standing up for what we believe. Every other group striving for rights and dignity in American history has been told the same thing when they began their push.

If all the other groups had listened then we probably would still have slavery in the South, women as property of their husbands, and only those with land of their own having the right to vote. Discretion is said to be the better part of valor, but when discretion is forced by circumstance then it is no longer a guardrail against madness but a straightjacket for the soul.

So long as we allow inaction we will remain the Invisible Minority. So long as we act in reaction to fear Pagans will continue to be harassed, attacked, fired, and forgotten. The promise of the Declaration of Independence of, “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” will remain unfulfilled for all of us. The effort will be long. It will be hard. Only a fool would promise that it would be easy. But America now is no longer the America where the Religious Right stood unchallenged in their agenda by the masses.

The time is now. We stand at a vital crossroads in history. With the power of the social conservatives, at least for now, broken and our numbers on the rise we must seize the moment and begin the long journey to respect and acceptance. In so doing we must remember, for all who join us in the cause, that we do not just do so for ourselves. We fight for each other, our fellow Kin regardless of Tradition.

Most importantly, we are fighting for the future. The future of our Traditions. The future of our community as a whole and the health, vitality, and success of our local communities in particular. Most vitally we are struggling for the next generation. We must take up the cause to demand respect and dignity and work long and hard now so that when the next generation comes of age they will not know the fear, uncertainty, loneliness, and hardship that many of us have been forced to live with.

We begin today so tomorrow we may openly stand on the mountaintops and in the public square with each other, our children, and our fellow Americans and have no fear anywhere in this nation, from Seattle to Atlanta, from San Francisco to San Antonio, from New York to New Orleans there will be no place where we must hide the truth of who we are for the sake of survival or propriety.

We must take up the cause of liberation. We can no longer let fear instilled by our attackers to keep us shoved into the shadows. We must stand up and get involved in our local communities. We need to actively participate in local, state, and federal politics whether or not it is directly Pagan related or not. To give us a voice in public offices, we need to cultivate, assist and support people to run for these offices including those within the existing two major parties.

We must aggressively dispel the lies perpetrated by our foes by coming out to the public where it is safe to do so as a Pagan, as a Druid, as a Witch, as a Heathen so they know we are not some mysterious dark cult but real people they know. We must do this for what are our natural rights as human beings of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness on our terms according to what we believe not what others say we must believe.

We have no time to wait, no time to allow our moment to come. Our time is here.

Every act we take, great or small, alone or in a group, which is one made for the good of our greater community is one worth doing. Every act no matter its impact is one more step on the road to victory.

We cannot wait for heroes to come riding down from on high to our rescue. We must answer the call and rise to the challenge that we all face.

A Little Humor for Your Day – White Light Coven Application c. 2013

(Not a real coven)

White Light Coven Application

The Mystical Wiccan Coven Grove of the Glittery Butterfly Unicorn of Magical Healing and Holy White Light of Divine Spiritual Spiffiness and Enchanted Smiling Faerie Goddess of the Brilliant Light of Wonderfulness is Currently accepting applications.

Hi!  On behalf of the MWCGGBUMHHWDSSESFGBLW group, I’d just like to say…Hi!  We’re a loving, accepting group of Eclectic Wiccans who worship the LIGHT!  We believe that you can’t hurt anything, because the Rede says so!  So we don’t eat animals, because animals are people TOO!  You know those meanies say that plants are alive too but they’re just huffy because they’re carnivorous and angry and not enlightened like us.  But you look like a really NEAT person!  You just might be PERFECT to join our group!

At MWCGGBUMHHWDSSESFGBLW, we believe that the God and Goddess have always watched over us, since thousands and thousands of years ago when everyone was Wiccan and bisexual and nothing bad happened and everyone lived in peace and harmony eating only fruits and berries and frolicking merrily through the summer fields.  And they watched over us when the Bad Men came and conquered our peaceful ancestors and forced them to do horrible things like worship male deities and eat meat.  And then they watched over us still when MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF WOMEN AND CATS BURNED AT THE STAKE FOR THEIR FREEEEDOM!!!!

Anyway.  Teehee!  So the God and Goddess love each other, and they love you too, even if you don’t think they love you, because they do love you, and we love you, and we love everyone, except the mean people who disagree with us.  But we love them anyway!!  Even though they’re mean!!!

But the God and Goddess know who we really are, and I’ve been Wiccan for all my lives, so I know everything firsthand, you know?  Those sillyheads and their stupid “books” and “facts,” yanno?  What the heck are THEY so riled up about? I would SO think I know better than them, ’cause I was Cleopatra in one life and then this one other time I was this Druid priestess so like I remember all those lives because I’m enlightened.

MWCGGBUMHHWDSSESFGBLW has this Book of Shadows that was passed down from my mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s mother.  And it was first written by my first incarnation in that one ancient place thingy in that cool swirly language.  Yea.  It’s really cool.

I’d tell you more but um you have to be one of us to know so just fill out these few questions so we can make you one of us and then we’ll tell you the secrets of the universe and give you a neat bumper sticker.  If you answer no to any of these questions, maybe we’re not right for you, but that’s okay…when you stop being a regular human and maybe get reborn as a Witch like us (’cause see we were all born with all these powers because we were chosen and that’s why we’re all together because only special Natural Witches like us can have covens) we’ll let you try again.  Because we love you.

1. Do you watch The Craft religiously?

2. Do you only eat plants?

3. Do you swear to worship ONLY the Light????

4. Isn’t George Clooney hot?

5. No really, I’m sooo totally serious, don’t you think he’s like maybe the reincarnation of Adonis or something?

6. Aren’t bunnies cute?

7. Aren’t Xtians just sooo totally sucky?

8. Can you proof it, hnu?

Thank you for applying, we hope to hear from you SOOOON!!!

Spell for Today – Beginning mediation guide c. 2010

Beginning mediation guide

Beginning mediation guide: meditation helps your body and mind to obtain a deep state of relaxation. It is simple to learn and easy to practice. And it is useful to everyone.

Meditation is a wonderful way to relieve stress, clear your mind, and connect with your inner self. Many people have experienced meditation and don’t even know it. If you have ever drifted off into a day dream, got lost in the music you were listening to, or felt like you were floating on clouds then you have already experienced meditative awareness. However, when most people hear the word meditation they do not believe that they, personally, will be able to do it successfully. What they do not know, is that meditation is easy and useful for everyone.

Like any other skill, meditation needs to be practiced to be done correctly. It is very unusual that you will learn it by actually resting but remaining in an active state. The goal is to keep your mind free of distracting thoughts while remaining relaxed, but awake. Done correctly, meditation allows the body to rest more deeply than when you are sleeping. Meditation provides a higher awareness of the details of everyday life. Even a few minutes per day will help you move through the world with more relaxation and alertness.

You have challenged your outer body to explore its full range since you were a young child; with meditation your inner body is given a chance to explore its full range also. Your body works as a whole to make this possible.

People meditate for all types of reasons including curiosity, boredom, and despair. Others meditate to contact nature, to find the essence of life, to keep their senses sharp, or to heal. With so many reasons to meditate, a variety of techniques and traditions have emerged. No one way is correct. You need to use whatever works for you.

Meditation is there to help your fulfill you everyday needs, clear your mind of clutter, and get some perspective on your life, as you would if you were to go on a vacation. Some people even consider it a mini-vacation and look forward to the escape daily. Having more energy is also a key benefit.

The biggest arguments against meditation are not having time to learn how to do it or not having the time to keep doing it. That is simply untrue because meditation is easily learned and practice only can take one to three minutes per day. If you insist your life is too busy to take this time, that is all the more reason that you need meditation in your life.

Another misconception about meditation is that you have to sit in a cross-legged position for a long period of time. This is also false as meditation can be done sitting, standing, walking, or even lying down. Being comfortable is needed to help your relaxation efforts. And again, meditation can take very little time away from your busy schedule.A good start to learning meditation is deep breathing exercises. Choose a comfortable position. As you take a few deep breaths through your nose or mouth, your body automatically begins to relax. Concentrate on the rhythm of your breathing. Focus on whether your inhalation or exhalation is longer. The longer time between breaths also indicates relaxation. Your eyes may be either open or closed. If they are open, pick a spot to focus on and try not to let your eyes wander. If they are closed, look up slightly as if you were looking at the back of your forehead. Continue your breathing and when thoughts come to you, simply put them out of your mind. Relax and let go. This exercise is a good practice to learn meditation and a good foundation to explore further.Successful concentration sometimes comes with reciting a mantra. This is definitely not needed, but for beginners it is a trick to improve concentration. A mantra, in literal terms, means thought as sound. Your mantra might be just a sound, a word, or even a group of words. Whatever the case, it is repeated over and over allowing the mind to focus on it, instead of drifting away. Mantras do not have to be repeated out loud, they can be listened to internally without making any external sound.Other successful tips to meditation are making sure you will not be interrupted, not forcing concentration, and learning not to be frustrated if you cannot do everything perfectly from the beginning. Start with small meditation periods such as one-to-three minutes per day when possible. Then gradually work up to five, ten, and fifteen-minute meditations several times daily. After only a short time, you will realize the effects of meditation and look forward excitedly to those periods of the day.

Some of the Witchcraft/Magickal Correspondence – Thursday’s Witchery c. 2018

Thursday’s Witchery

Try wearing some honeysuckle-scented perfume to encourage prosperity. Bewitch someone by wearing deep royal blue or brighten up a dreary day by wearing lucky, prosperity-drawing green. Brew up a pot of mint tea to help increase your cash flow. Try adding a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon to an unscented candle to encourage some fast cash. Bake up a loaf of wheat bread for the family, and celebrate abundance and be thankful for all that you have.

Conjure up a witchy craft and create a philter or two for your magickal needs. Work with the deities and the magickal plants corresponding with Thursday.

How did the energies of the plants of Jupiter enhance your magick? What did you learn by working with Juno, Jove, or Zeus? The truth is that by adding these new techniques and information into your spellcasting repertoire, you will indeed advance your skills, thereby moving up in the ranks to become a more adept magickal practitioner

Just by believing in yourself and working toward creating abundance, health, and prosperity, you have already begun to transform your outlook on life. Put your game face on; think positively. Work with Thor for perseverance and courage, and apply those qualities to your own prosperity spells and healing witchery. Break out the tarot cards; How could you incorporate that symbolism into other spells of your own design?

Use your imagination, check Thursday’s correspondence list, and see what other bewitching things you can conjure up for prosperity magick all by yourself. Call on the gods and goddess of Thursday and bring some positive change, abundance, health, and prosperity into your life!

Your Crowley Thoth Tarot Card for Today c. 2015

The Star

The Star represents a strong connection to the Cosmos, an open gateway to understanding “the big picture.” It is an optimistic card that promises peace, harmony, and hope realized. For the full power of the forces behind The Star to be realized one must have faith and accept that in cosmic terms all things balance out; that disturbances are sometimes necessary to ensure overall harmony. The reward for such faith is vision on a Cosmic scale, and sense of well-being that may well radiate to those around you through your warm, untroubled heart.

What Does The Number 8 Mean? c. 2011

  • Eight (八; accounting 捌; pinyin ) is considered a lucky number in Chinese culture because it sounds like the word meaning to generate wealth (發(T) 发(S); Pinyin: ). Property with the number 8 may be valued greatly by Chinese. For example, a Hong Kong number plate with the number 8 was sold for $640,000. The opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Beijing started at 8 seconds and 8 minutes past 8 pm (local time) on 8 August 2008.
  • Eight (八, hachi, ya) is also considered a lucky number in Japanese culture, but the reason is different from that in Chinese culture. Eight gives an idea of growing prosperous, because the letter (八) broadens gradually.
  • The Japanese thought eight (や, ya) as a holy number in the ancient times. The reason is less well understood, but it is thought that it is related to the fact they used eight to express large numbers vaguely such as manyfold (やえはたえ, Yae Hatae) (literally, eightfold and twentyfold), many clouds (やくも, Yakumo) (literally, eight clouds), millions and millions of Gods (やおよろずのかみ, Yaoyorozu no Kami) (literally, eight millions of Gods), etc. It is also guessed that the ancient Japanese gave importance to pairs, so some researchers guess twice as four (よ, yo), which is also guessed to be a holy number in those times because it indicates the world (north, south, east, and west) might be considered a very holy number.
  • In numerology, 8 is the number of building, and in some theories, also the number of destruction.

February 3, 2023 Daily Horoscopes

Moon Alert

Until 10 PM PST tonight, there are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions today. The Moon is in Cancer.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Around this time (yesterday, today or tomorrow), you might have an argument with a friend or a member of a group. You might even separate from this friend or group because you are undergoing disruptions dealing with others. Someone’s behaviour might have created an upsetting situation for everyone.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This is a poor time to challenge parents, bosses, teachers and the police because you will be at loggerheads with them. It’s actually a classic time for breakdowns in relationships. Perhaps you want to rebel against the restrictions that others are placing on you? Or maybe they think you are unreasonable? It’s tough.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Sudden travel changes are likely for you at this time. This could indicate cancellations and delays, or a sudden demand that you travel. (Could go either way.) For others, arguments about politics, religion or racial issues might erupt. Sudden changes with the law, medicine and publishing are also likely.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Keep an eye on your money, mortgage arrangements or anything to do with your debt because something unusual might suddenly impact these areas. A financial agreement about an inheritance or shared property might suddenly break down. Stay on top of what’s happening (especially if posse is after you).

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This is a disruptive time for your sign. Sudden arguments with partners and close friends might create problems for you. You might have to deal with an unexpected separation from someone. This is a hard time for people to compromise because they value their power and freedom.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Unexpected problems connected with your job might arise now. They could relate to your boss, a technical problem or a coworker. A sudden argument might prompt you to quit. Meanwhile, take care of your health because this is an accident-prone time for many.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This is a rocky time for romance. Many relationships might end. Sports accidents, sudden changes in social plans, and definitely accidents with your kids are highly likely. Therefore, parents must be extra vigilant. Know where your kids are. Be mindful of toddlers. No slip ups.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Your home routine or your family dynamic is likely to experience interruptions and unexpected events. Home accidents, family arguments and a breakdown of equipment or appliances is likely. Stay calm and cope with skillful means. Work with what you’ve got.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Pay attention to everything you say and do because this is an accident-prone time for you. Short trips might be cancelled. (Alternatively, you might suddenly be forced to take a short trip.) Arguments with neighbours, siblings and relatives might erupt. Be mindful and patient.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Keep an eye on your money, cash flow and possessions because something unexpected might catch you off guard. You might find money; you might lose money. Harm or loss might come to something you own. Therefore, be vigilant and on guard.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

This is a challenging time for you. It’s an accident-prone time. Your everyday routine will also be changed. You might feel rebellious against restrictions from others. You might break up from a relationship. Something unexpected might create a situation that you suddenly have to deal with.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You feel very restless at this time. You need fresh air! You need the freedom to do what you want to do and to be able to express yourself. This is why you might have an argument with someone. Caution against doing something rash that you might later regret. Expect to have difficulty with authority figures.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actor Nathan Lane (1956) shares your birthday today. You are intelligent, compassionate and resilient. You know what to say. By nature, you are optimistic and always busy. This is a good year to rekindle old friendships. You will have a stronger zest for life and a desire to socialize and enjoy yourself. Enjoy increased popularity!
