There are some who believe that incense is unimportant in candle magic. I cannot imagine performing candle magic without the incense. The type that you use may be specified in a specific spell, if that is the case by all means use that. Generally, I use three kings incense as well as vervain. Vervain gives the spell working a little umph. But then again nothing is set in stone.. Be creative.
Incense symbolizes Air… as the smoke rises our thoughts are carried up into the universe.

Ducks

Ducks are the largest and most diverse group of waterfowl. Frequently males and females are colored differently, the males have brighter plumes, and have different vocal sounds. They prefer being in places where they are comfortable and will return to those places. They have a strong sense of community and are social.
Duck will remind us we sometimes need to return to the parts of ourselves that need to feel safe and comfortable. It also teaches us to be graceful when handling our emotions. Duck teaches us to drink sustenance from the waters of life.

When children learn about geology and crystal formation, you can make the lessons more exciting by providing the kids with a hands-on project that will demonstrate how crystals form in nature. You can make homegrown crystals using a few basic ingredients that can be purchased in any grocery store. By adding a few drops of food coloring into the crystal forming solution, you can even make the crystal grow in beautiful colors.

Things You’ll Need

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup salt
  • 3 cups water
  • Food coloring
  • Pot
  • Glass mason jar
  • Bamboo skewer
  1. Combine 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of salt in a pot.
  2. Pour 3 cups of water into the pot.
  3. Heat the solution until it boils, then remove it from the heat.
  4. Add in five drops of food coloring, your choice of color.
  5. Pour the solution into a glass mason jar.
  6. Insert a bamboo skewer into the glass jar and leave it there for two days. The colorful crystals will form on the skewer.

How to Pet-Proof Your Christmas Tree

Winter holidays are especially exciting, with all the sparkly lights and streamers, delicate ornaments and brightly colored garland, and don’t get us started on the candies and treats! All of these things are great fun, and no less so for our pets. So, before you start taking out the decorations, take a few minutes to consider how their placement will affect your pets.

Ornaments

Just to protect your pet and yourself from excitable accidents, hang your delicate and treasured ornaments on the uppermost branches of the tree, and secure them to the branches tightly. In general, it is easier on the whole household if you select tree ornaments that are not likely to shatter. For delicate, glass or treasured ornaments, you might consider creating an area where they can be displayed that is out of reach for your dog or cat, such as from a garland that is hung across a mantel or window. Tinsel, for all its glittery prettiness, is one of the most dangerous tree decorations you can choose. If your pet ingests even a few strands of tinsel — and pets do this more often than you might guess — she is highly likely to suffer the ill, and even deadly effects of an intestinal obstruction. Same goes for edible ornaments, such as popcorn and cranberry strings and candy canes. Leave these things off your tree or your pet will be climbing the tree to get to them.

 

Lights, Plants and More

Christmas lights should be positioned away from the very bottom of the tree unless you are sure that your pet has been successfully trained not to chew on the cords. Electric cord injuries are very damaging to the mouth tissue and can lead to long term problems with eating, amongst other issues. Check the electric light cords frequently for signs of chewing.

Other tree decorations that can be hazardous to pets (and children, for that matter) include angel hair — a spun glass or pvc decoration, garland, lit candles, mistletoe, poinsettia plants, and holly berries. Decorations that are not a part of tree trimming, but that are also worth mentioning are advent calendars, in which candy is placed in the small numbered cubbies; and liquid potpourri, which can be spilled or ingested.

It is safest to stick to artificial plants and plastic or unbreakable ornaments, just to be on the safe side. When you can rest in the knowledge that you have done everything to make sure your pet cannot be harmed, then everyone can share in a happy, healthy holiday season together.

 

More Christmas Tree Tips

It can be very difficult to keep a young, still-in-training pet away from the Christmas tree, particularly if this is his or her’s first Christmas. Even for an older pet, who may have learned not to jump on the tree — either because it fell on him last year or because your admonitions worked — you will still need to be cautious with the ornaments you place within his reach.

A live tree can be especially hazardous. Dogs and cats like to chew on sticks (i.e., limbs) and greenery, and the fir tree oils can be irritating to the mouth tissue causing such symptoms as drooling and vomiting. Also, if your pet is chewing on the branches, there is a good chance he is also swallowing some of the needles. If enough needles are swallowed they can get caught in the intestinal tract, puncturing the lining or bunching together and causing obstruction. Both can have deadly consequences.

A popular tree decoration called flocking, an imitation snow product, can also cause serious problems when significant amounts of it are swallowed. If you are going to have a tree in your home, it is best to at least get a non-flocked tree.

In addition, some trees are treated with chemical preservatives to keep them fresh longer. These chemicals leach into the water in the feeding dish, making the water poisonous to drink — which pets will do if the water is left uncovered. If you do not have a tree skirt to cover the water dish with, you can use towel, plastic wrap, or aluminum foil.

 Good morning, afternoon, night???? If I don’t write quickly it will be Wednesday in about 30 minutes, lol! Well I didn’t run off, I just had some things I had to do and they took all day.

 

 First off, my husband’s work truck has needed low beam highlights for I don’t know how long. He got on his high horse Monday, “you’ve got to call and get them fixed, you’ve got too!” Well I called yesterday and found a place out here in the sticks that could fix them either yesterday or today. Yesterday it poured down rain and it was so dreary, I didn’t want to mess with it. So this morning when I got up, five minutes later, here he came, “you going to get the truck fixed today?” The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. His truck and he can’t take it and get it fixed. To keep the peace, I said I would take it and get it fixed. I think he wants me to take it because I was practically born in a garage and he figures we won’t get screwed. Well me and Kiki loaded up in the truck and off we went. The regular place I take the place and get all the work done on the truck was closed. So I found this new place to get the work done. Well I pulled up in front of it and liked to have died. The garage looked like my cousin’s garage before I went to work there. Dirty, nasty, awful, I think that pretty well describes it. We walked in the office area and I swear I thought I had walked into the twilight zone. The mechanic was eating lunch, so we sit down and had a nice long chat. I made the mistake of telling him I use to run the office at a garage. We got to talking about timing chains, timing belts, motors, starters, transmissions and every other car part there is. What should have taken 30 minutes turned into two hours. Poor little Kiki was given out. She curled up in a chair and finally went to sleep. I found out the garage hasn’t been that busy recently and I guess they were just happy to have someone to talk too. I know when I got ready to leave he offered me a job. I just sort of laughed and said I had retired. I done been through that mess of taking a junkyard and turning it into a decent business. No thank you, never again! 

 

Next, I had to drive 50 miles to go get my prescriptions. Our insurance has recently changed and I was in for a fantastic surprise when I pulled up. I owed more than triple what I usually pay. Then there was one prescription that the insurance company decided I didn’t need to take the way the doctor had ordered me to take it. Then there was another, why heck fire I didn’t even need that one! I was dumbfounded to say the least. Since when does an insurance company know how to doctor a person. What is the world coming too? Needless to say, I put that insurance company on my to do list when I got home. 

 

Then when I finally got home, calmed down and ate, I decided I wanted to get on the internet. Well to put an end to such a wonderful day, the internet was down. They were putting in new wiring. When we had the ice storm a few years ago, all the above ground lines snapped. So all the utilities have been trying to run everything underground now. Today just happened to be my lucky day, they were running the line underground. So I said the heck with it and sit down and fumed. 

 

But all in all, it was a very lovely day, not! It was drizzling rain and my ears are killing me and my throat is swelled up and killing me. In other words, I will be back at the doctor’s office to get an antibiotic for this crap. Which mean, I will have another fight with the insurance company because they probably won’t pay for crap. It is wonderful how this little mouse maze we call life runs. 

 

But I wanted to let you know that I haven’t run off. I just took a leisurely day off, lmao! I would have much rather been home, in my nice warm house, rain-free, playing on the internet. I can’t think of any adventures I have to do Wednesday, so things will get back to normal. 

 

So please forgive me for not doing the daily posts as I was out having a ball, lol! I will see you Wednesday!

Lie back in the water and visualize yourself happily avoiding the habit or other negative condition–smoking, drinking, drugs, depressions, obsessions and so on. Visualize the water absorbing your desire and need for the habit. See in your mind’s eye all the energy you’ve been giving to this negative condition seeping out into the water. When you’ve visualized all that you can, pull the plug and sit in the tub until the water has drained out. Splash fresh water onto your body, washing away all traces of the taint. Repeat daily.

The easiest method is to simply scatter them when and where you need their energies. Other methods are also available:
*Sprinkle the powder in a circle around you, beginning and ending in the East and moving clockwise. Sit within this circle and absorb the powder’s energies.
*Those who work with crystals and stones can add powders to their rituals. Sprinkle the appropriate powder around the crystal (or crystals) as it lays on the altar to increase its power.
*Sprinkle powders around candles before being burned to boost their energies.
*Scatter a ritually appropriate powder over the altar before spells.
*Sprinkle on the altar in specific shapes to use as focal points for visualization: protection powder in pentagrams; love powder in hearts; psychic powders in circles. It doesn’t matter if the powder remains in the shape for long. And so on, as your imagination teaches you.
But remember-do this solely for positive purposes, to affect your possessions, yourself or others from whom you’ve obtained permission. All manipulative magic is negative magic and will rebound on the magician.
One note: some powders, particularly those that contain dragon’s blood, will stain carpets, bed sheets, clothing and other materials. Be aware of this when sprinkling.

1 pinch cinnamon
3 bay leaves (crushed)
 
Do not drink this potion. It works by being inhaled slowly. Put all the ingredients into a teapot or pot with a lid. Pour the boiling water over the ingredients and cover the pot for five minutes. Take the covered pot into your bedroom. Put it on a sturdy surface, and then take off the cover. Carefully inhales the steam for a few minutes. Be very careful because the steam is hot. Leave the cover off and let the aroma fill your bedroom. Lay down and drift to sleep with the expectation of having pleasant dreams.

This is folk-magic, and it works. It can only be worked in Fall, when the black walnuts are
ready to harvest. Because it is performed naked, in the dark, it is not suitable for everyone.
You will need:
* a piece of paper from a brown paper bag, freshly torn on all four sides
* a small pencil with no eraser on it * matches
* a black candle — it can be a plain offertory candle, a taper, or a figural candle of a human or a devil.
* black powder incense to which you should add Valerian
Root, Red Pepper, and Mullein Leaves. (If you cannot find
plain black powder incense and those herbs, use an
herb-based mixture containing them, such as Black Arts Incense.)
* nine black walnuts still in their green husks. You will probably have to go into the country
for these — they are not sold in stores.
* a silver-colored metal bowl.
Place the walnuts in the bowl. Undress at midnight on a night when the moon is dark.
Take all the supplies into your bathroom.
In the dark, with no light, write your ex-lover’s name on the piece of paper, and say
[Name of Person],
this is the last time I will write your name!
Light the candle, use the candle to light the incense, look at the name paper and say
[Name of Person],
this is the last time I will see your name!
Fold the paper in half so the name can no longer be seen.
Draw a hot bath and throw the nine black walnuts into it. The water may turn brownish.
Get into the bath with the walnuts. Pour the dark water over your head nine times and each
time you pour it, say:
[Name of Person], I wash you out of my life.
Arise from the bath and pull the plug.
As the water runs out, pick up the candle and hold it over the bath water.
Take the person’s name-paper in your other hand and set it on fire with the candle.
As it burns, say:
[Name of Person], I burn you out of my life.
Drop the burning paper into the bath water, wait a brief moment, then plunge the candle
upside down into the bath water to extinguish it while you say:
[Name of Person], I extinguish you.
Do not dry yourself with a towel, only let the air dry you.
When the water has all run out, collect the nine walnuts (and the husk fragments) and
place them back in the bowl. Now, still entirely naked, walk outside carrying the bowl of
walnuts and throw them away at a crossroads or street intersection or, if that is impossible,
throw them against a tree — but be careful to not drop any pieces of them in
your own yard. As you throw away the walnuts, say:
[Name of Person], you are dead to me
And dead to me you’ll always be
Wander the world both near and far
But touch me not, for dead you are!
Carry the empty bowl home without looking back, wash it out, and put it away.
As long as you never write or speak the person’s full name again, he or she will remain
out of your life and your former love will be broken.
VARIANT:
Get 9 Walnuts and boil them in 3 quarts of water until the water evaporates down to
1 quart in volume and turns brown. Then place the walnuts and their water in the bowl,
as described above, and proceed as described except that when it_comes time to throw
the Black Walnuts into the bath with their husks, throw in the
boiled walnuts with their quart of brown water.
