“THINK on THESE THINGS” for July 19

By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

Before we can share with others, we must have something to share. And all of us do have something to give. Not material things, but we can share our peace and our love and our loyalty.

Before we can share with others, there must be others with whom to share. For if we are selfish and self-centered enough, we will never have to worry about sharing anything. We will be alone.

Before we can expect others to share with us, we must be capable of accepting. We must be worthy of others who desire to share with us; we must deserve their love.

Before the two of us can ever find anything in this world of mutual interest, we must have enough concern and enough love to feel a need within to produce something good enough to offer; not only to others, but to ourselves. If we have abused our own nature with thoughts of bitterness, harboring painful experiences, self-condemnation for little progress regardless of circumstances, then we have nothing to offer.

The French philosopher Achille Poincelot once said, “Some people think that all the world should share their misfortunes, though they do not share in the sufferings of anyone else.”

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’ for May 22nd

By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

Have you noticed how hardheaded we are about clinging to the way we think something should be done? If it worked once, we think it should again, and perhaps it does. There are proven methods of getting successful results in many things. But ever so often we try to use the same procedure, follow the same general pattern we’ve used before, only this time it doesn’t work.

How we pound our fist against that stone wall! Insisting all the time that there used to be a door in exactly that spot. Who moved the door? Frequently circumstances are to blame. But placing the blame is not the important thing. Finding the way is important.

The way may not be marked plainly, and we have to blaze a new trail, find a new method. But the hardest part of finding that new method is in admitting we need one. The first and most important step is in changing our idea of how it should be done. As soon as we have accepted this fact the mind has a reserve of experiences and knowledge that will hurry in to help. But only after we’ve admitted the need for it.

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’ for April 27th

By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

America’s art critic Henry Theodore Tuckerman believed the hand to be the mind’s own perfect subject. As physical labor shows in a man’s hands, so does illness, or greediness, or strength.

No other part of the body so expresses human behavior. With our hands we work, play, communicate, love, and express our fear, joy, and grief. These beautifully sensitive symbols of faith, love, and friendship are the hands of time that never stand still. They clasp to us the things we love, the books we read, the seeds we plant, the stitches we sew, and the civilization we build.

This marvelously made human hand, directed by the mind’s eye, the mind’s ear, and the heart’s desires, works every waking moment to express its owner’s life.

The gentle touch, so closely linked with our emotions, can also be the unmistakable expression of strength and honesty. And the most beautiful of all, the praying hands, for surely they are conscious only of God.

Gentle thoughts for January 6th

Gentle thoughts for today:

1. Birds of a feather flock together and crap on your car.
2. There’s always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it. For example I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don’t hurt.
3. The sole purpose of a child’s middle name is so he can tell when he’s really in trouble.
4. If you can’t be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
5. Don’t assume malice for what stupidity can explain.
6. A penny saved is a government oversight.
7. The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.
8. If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.
9. The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.
10. He who hesitates is probably right.
11. If you think there is good in everybody, you haven’t met everybody.
12. Did you ever notice: When you put the 2 words “The” and “IRS” together it spells “THEIRS”?

Lunar Eclipse

Lunar Eclipse

In the Earth’s Shadow

By Molly Hall

The Full Moon is always the alignment of the Sun and Moon in opposite Zodiac signs. The lunar eclipse happens when the Earth is smack dab in the middle, altering how the Moon reflects the solar light. Eclipses come in pairs, and usually come every six months, as that’s when the Moon’s orbit hits the ecliptic.

There’s a mysterious, underworld quality to the lunar eclipse. The Moon turns orangey or blood red, because of the shorter wavelengths being filtered through the Earth’s atmosphere. This frightened people in earlier times, as the cool lunar surface turned a malevolent red. Some cultures believed the Moon was swallowed by a three-legged toad (China) or a jaguar (Maya), and was a herald of demonic or destructive energies afoot. They shouted, clanged pots and pans, and banged drums to dispel the dark spirits lurking around.

What does it bring?

Since full Moon’s are a time of illumination, the lunar eclipse momentarily throws up shadows of darkness. And often it’s the shadows of the “unlived life,” buried potential, being brought to the surface. It’s a bit like the rich void of the New Moon, where you’re in touch with a well of psychic material. It can be disorienting, as your feet are often leaving the ground of the known!

If you’ve been living in a fantasy world, you’re knocked back to earth. It can be destabilizing and rock the foundations. You are forced to be fully present to some event. You may get shattering news. It takes awhile to fully understand what’s happening, and to find your footing again. Sometimes the events of the eclipse are worked out over a long period, say six months.

Full Moons are times of super high energy, and surging emotion across the spectrum. The eclipse intensifies the sense of being overwhelmed, and events are experienced in vivid color. You’ll get this hit in the house in which the eclipse is taking place. It also loosens the moorings of any planet it touches. You’re in the rapid transformation chute, and clues to how it’ll manifest come from the Zodiac sign of the Sun and Moon at the time. Eclipses liberate us from the status quo, and get things moving. It’s a time to trust, though the outcome may be uncertain, that all things work toward progress in the end.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for December 7th

Two days ago, Venus in Capricorn and Mars in Virgo linked up via a harmonious, trine pattern of 120-degrees. This creative association of the two main cosmic symbols of the feminine and masculine principles doesn’t occur that frequently. This morning – at 7:03AM PST and then at 10:48AM PST – the Moon in Taurus forms flowing trines, first to Mars and then to Venus. This actually makes a grand triangle in earth signs in the zodiac – an auspicious, geometric talisman that can signify your own success and achievements manifesting in the real world. A Mercury-Pluto parallel (2:53PM PST) adds an exclamation point to the foregoing by simultaneously activating your spiritual willpower and mental concentration. Whether you can pull this off and be eminently fortunate in money matters, business negotiations and career pursuits is not necessarily 100% in the cards because you also need to be in the right place, at the right time, and in the right state of consciousness. In addition, every individual has his or her own horoscope of many celestial bodies that is being impacted daily by what are called transits and progressions (ongoing cycles of the heavenly orbs) that provide the kinds of events that fill our lives in every 24-hour time-period. Remember – as pointed out in this calendar two days ago – that the first of the outer planets (Uranus) is virtually stationary this entire week, but will officially shift from retrograde to direct in Aries on Friday evening December 9. You may be tuning into the Uranian signals of radical change and intuitional awareness even now before the actual station of Uranus in the sky. This is not that unusual as our human minds and nervous systems are much more advanced than we understand at this stage of evolution.

Attuning to Power Objects

Attuning to Power Objects

Attuning to an object creates a resonance between the two of you. In a way, it sets up short cuts or a speed-dial relationship between you, allowing you to use this power more quickly and easily while increasing the ease with which your spirit allies can communicate with you. Before doing the actual attunement, it is a good idea to release any unwanted energies from the object. A crystal may be a true gift from the gods, but it is unlikely that you want or need residual energies from previous owners or other people that may have handled it. So purify this object by smudging with sacred herbs, holding it under running water while visualizing unwanted energies breaking up and being washed away, burying it in soil for seven day, or leaving it our under the Sun
and Moon for a full day and night.
To begin the attunement ritual, create sacred space in your usual manner. Smudge the area, cast a circle, light your candles, or chant your power song. Invite in your spirit guides and guardians and ask for their blessings.
Take some time to center your energy. Breathe deeply into your muscles–particularly into any areas of tension–and feel them relax. Count yourself down from ten to one, consciously relaxing more with each descending number. Relax the focus of your eyes and become aware of your connection to all things. Now call upon your spirit allies or patron deities, whether you know them or not. Let them know that you are here to open yourself to them and that you seek communion with them.
Pick up your power object and hold it in both hands. Visualize pure white energy filling this object, breaking up and releasing any remaining unwanted energies. Then sit with it for a moment and allow your energies to begin to mesh. Feel how this object feels. Feel how it makes you feel.
Now imagine that this object before you is as big as a house. Walk around and take a good look at it from all sides. What do you notice?
Visualize a door on one side. Place an offering at the door and introduce yourself. State your reason for coming and ask permission to enter. If you feel that permission is not given, try again later or ask if you need to do something else before entering.
When permission is granted, enter through the doorway. Take note of the colors, light temperature and anything that you see inside the object. If someone meets you at any point, greet that being with respect and be open to any messages he, she, or it might have for you. Express your reasons for exploring this object and ask for guidance into a deeper attunement with the power this object holds for you. Then wander through the object, going where you feel led and stopping at any place you find attracive in some way.
When you feel you have gained all that you can in this meditation, or when you feel it is time to leave, return to the doorway. Give thanks to the object your spirit allies, and any beings you encountered here. If you wish, ask for continued guidance in how best to work with this object.
Count yourself back up from one to ten into ordinary consciousness. If specific guidance was given or requests were made for housing or use of this object, be sure to follow through on those in a respectful manner.
Keep in mind that this meditation can do more than simply attune you to this object. Repeated use of the meditation can introduce you to previously unknown spirit allies that may be associated with this object. It can also allow you access to your own lost powers and provide a forum for you to regain some of it. Although quite simple, this little attunement exercise can be surprisingly powerful.

Book & Candle Comments This will give you a higher viewpoint on a difficult situation.  Imagine that your arms have transformed into a pair of wings. You flap your wings and take off, soaring into the air. Looking down at your problem, you see it in a whole new light. Set against a vast panorama, it appears far smaller and less significant than before. You can also see other aspects of the problem that you were previously blind to – other people’s roles, different viewpoints, the causes of the situation, even solutions. With the benefit of these new insights, you return to Earth, ready to face your problem afresh.

He is also potent for leadership, conscious wisdom, creativity, extending one’s influence in the wider world, idealism, justice and the law, authority and altruism. Jupiter’s influence extends over marriage, permanent relationship (business and personal), fidelity, loyalty and male potency (in both the  human and the animal kingdom). Jupiter can lead to excesses, such as greed and gluttony, but can also paradoxically be used for banishing these.

New Moon Report for September 25 – Mercury in Libra

Mercury in Libra

Sunday, September 25, 2:09 pm PDT, 5:09 pm EDT 12, 2:27 am PDT, 5:27 am EDT

Bright-eyed Mercury sees both sides of any question in this fair-minded sign. Thinking benefits from refined clarity and communication skills, inviting new connections. Discussions can diverge, darken or break down as the messenger planet follows the courses of Venus and the Sun. The trickster planet encounters lightning bolts of brilliance and impatience with Uranus on the 26th and descends to dark waters of insight and suspicion with Pluto on the 28th. New rules of engagement could be signed with Mercury’s conjunction to serious Saturn on October 6.

Daily Insight For September 21

Daily Insight

Wednesday, September 21, 2011
By The Astrologer, Kelli Fox

Feelings are on the surface, as the Moon continues through emotional Cancer. Business is likely to go smoothly, as long as you’re sensitive to others’ feelings. Cancer the Crab is highly resourceful, and it can be a good day to work on increasing your security and protecting your assets. The morning hours are especially favorable. The Moon forms a happy sextile with jovial Jupiter, bringing a mood of expansion and possibility. Dealing with real estate and financial matters is favorable. You’ll probably be in the mood to stay home this evening. Cook a nurturing meal, or reach out to your favorite family member. Later tonight the Moon makes a tense square to stern Saturn and some crankiness is possible. Better to pull back and find a way to give yourself the support you need. You may not be able to get what you want from others right now.

New Moon Report for Sept. 14 – Venus in Libra

Venus in Libra

Wednesday, September 14, 7:40 pm PDT, 10:40 pm EDT

Amorous Venus entry into her airy home sign generally bodes well for peace, harmony and a more objective view of relationships. All may not be idyllic, though, as the love planet runs a gauntlet of hard aspects with volatile Uranus on September 17, punishing Pluto on the 18th and stern Saturn on the 29th. Addressing underlying issues about freedom, power and control rationally may not be easy, but can lead to stronger alliances.

New Moon Report for August 10th – Mars square Uranus and Mars opposite Pluto

Mars square Uranus and Mars opposite Pluto

Tuesday and Wednesday, August 9-10

Tension rises with Mars catalyzing aspects to astrology’s most transformative planets. Electric Uranus and powerful Pluto are moving toward a series of exact squares in 2012-15 that has the power to reshape the world. Mars interactions with this pair can trigger a sense of uncertainty and provoke impulsive behavior. Taking a calmer approach to crisis, though, can lead to innovation and learning how to manage the pace of change.
