Red Flower Meanings: What Do They Symbolize?

If you could envision the quintessential flower, it might be hard to decide on what kind it might be, but most likely it would be red. Indeed, no other flower says, “I love you,” quite like a red one. Yes, red flower symbolism includes true love. But it also includes so much more.

Here is a quick list of red flower meanings:

Romantic love

Passion

Excitement

Confidence

Wealth

Good luck

Security

Types of Red Flowers and Their Meanings

Red flower symbolism can have slight variations depending on the type of flower. Here are some examples:

Red roses mean romantic love and passion.

Poppy flowers symbolize honor and remembrance.

Hibiscus flowers symbolize hospitality and friendship.

Red tulips represent fresh starts and renewal.

Geraniums that are red symbolize good health and happiness.

Red orchids symbolize a happy marriage and prosperity.

Lilies that are red symbolize everlasting love.

Zinnias that are red represent romantic love and money.

Red cosmos symbolize soulmates.

Red Flower Symbolism Sends a Strong Message

Red flowers are suitable for many occasions. However, the strongest message they convey is romantic love. So, if given to the wrong person, they might send an unwelcome message! But when given to the right person – they speak volumes.

The color red is also associated with primal energy and your first chakra, or the root chakra. Your first chakra rules your security and stability. So, red flowers in the garden or as potted plants can provide positive energy for a home or business.

In summary, red flowers are classics. Green leaves provide the perfect contrast to scarlet, crimson, and fire-colored blooms. And few people can argue with their show-stopping beauty!

Sprout a Spell

From freewitchspells.com

Nothing says “new beginnings” like planting a seed, so use the power of a growing plant to bring success to your own new moon projects.

You need:

A small flower pot

Soil

Seeds (anything will do)

Egg shells

A small piece of paper

Get everything together and write your intentions on the paper. Keep it to a word or two, but enough to represent what you want to accomplish during this new moon. Put a little soil in the flower pot, then place in the bit of paper (fold it up), and then crush some egg shells on top of that. Fill up the rest of the pot with soil.

Repeat the following:

I plant this seed when the moon is new,
Bring me success, I ask it true.

Keep repeating this as you plant your seeds, and give them a little water. After the ritual, keep the pot somewhere sunny and you should start seeing some success in your plans when the plant begins to sprout. Keep it healthy and thriving to keep the magick going.

A Laugh for Today

When my local barista handed me my change, one coin stood out. “Look at that. You rarely get one of these old wheat pennies nowadays,” I said, tapping the sheaf of-wheat design. I handed her the penny. Turning it over and over in her hand, she said, “You know, I always thought they were made of copper.” —Linda Neukrug

Goddess Of The Day – Callisto

CALLISTO

Themes: Instinct; Protection; Flexibility

Symbols: A Bear; a Willow Branch; the Constellation Ursa Major

About Callisto:

Appearing sometimes as a she-bear guarding her cubs, the Greek goddess Callisto reinspires the natural instincts with which we have lost touch and illustrates the intensity of maternal love. Her other name is Helic, which means “to turn” or “willow branch”; she thus has the power to help with personal transformations. In mythology, Callisto became Ursa Major while pregnant with Zeus’s child. Artemis changed her into a bear, along with her son, who became Ursa Minor.

To Do Today:

In Korea, the festival of Chilsong-je begins at midnight with an offering of white rice and water to the seven stars (Ursa Major). This gift ensures Callisto’s assistance when needed throughout the coming months. If you can’t stay up till midnight, just leave the rice and water in a special spot before you go to bed.

From her celestial home, Callisto stands ready to protect us in the new year and provide us with adaptability as a coping mechanism. To encourage this, carry a silver or white stone bear, or a piece of dried willow wood. Bless this token, saying:

Callisto, release in me the power of flexibility.
Where’er I carry this little charm, keep me ever safe from harm.

If these tokens aren’t handy, you can substitute any white or silver item, or a hand-drawn picture of Ursa Major (the Big Dipper).

Yellow Flower Meaning & Symbolism + Types & When to Give Them from uniguide.com

Yellow flower symbolism and meanings include joy, hope, optimism, good luck, inspiration, imagination, friendship, good fortune, and other positive traits. In this post, we’ll explore the symbolism and meaning of yellow flowers as well as the best occasions to give them.

Types of Flowers that Are Yellow

Before we go into detail on yellow flower meanings, I thought you might be interested in a list of some of the types of flowers that come in yellow or mainly yellow hues. Here they are:

Black-eyed Susan

Clematis

Cosmos

Chrysanthemum

Daisy

Daffodil

Jasmine

Magnolia

Marigold

Poppy

What do yellow flowers symbolize?

The color yellow has many positive associations. To begin, yellow is associated with the sun, which brings light, positive energy, and warmth to the world. While all plants get energy from the sun, yellow flowers in particular seem to embody its positive traits.

Here is a more detailed list of what yellow flowers symbolize:

Joy

Happiness

Optimism

Hope

Good luck

Good fortune

Wealth

Gut instincts

Ideas

Imagination

Inspiration

Friendship

Hope

Summer

Sunshine

One thing to note is that different yellow flowers have their own set of meanings. For more details on some of them, just click on the flower names with links listed above.

Yellow Flower Symbolism: Joy

Because yellow flowers symbolize joy, hope, and optimism, they make great gifts for people whose spirits you want to lift. In addition, they bring happy energy to gardens and indoor flowerpots.

Yellow Flower Meaning: Good Fortune

Yellow is also the color of gold. So, yellow flower symbolism also includes good fortune, wealth, and prosperity. For example, in some African cultures, yellow symbolizes affluence and status.1

Trusting Your Instincts

In addition to its association with gold and prosperity, yellow symbolizes the third chakra, or energy center, in the body. Called the solar plexus chakra, or Manipura in Sanskrit, the yellow chakra governs your gut instincts, courage, and willpower. In fact, in Japan, yellow symbolizes bravery.2

So, by association, yellow flowers symbolize courage, instincts, and willpower. Thus, they make great gifts for those who need a boost of confidence, are going through a challenging time, or are embarking on a new adventure. In the home or garden, yellow flowers are also positive symbols to remind you that you have more strength and power than you think you do!

In addition, yellow flowers and their essential oils can be used when you are working on opening or tuning up your solar plexus chakra.

Imagination and Bright Ideas

Yellow flower meaning also represents bright ideas – like a lightbulb moment – as well as inspiration, and imagination. In this way, they are associated with angel numbers 911 and 777 meaning, which both have similar associations. So, yellow flowers make great gifts for artists and for yourself to spark your creativity.

Finally, yellow flowers symbolize one of the greatest gifts in life, which is friendship. Any day of the week is the perfect time to show a friend you care and appreciate them being a part of your life.

A Thought for Today

I’m more of a skeptic of all religion but honestly given the way I feel

deep down inside Wicca is a much better fit  because At least under that system  the Pantheon above considers men and women equal, Gods and Goddesses.
As above, so below.
As in if in the heavens  the sexes are equal then down on the earth below they are as well
I’m- I have trouble  believing anything
I’m too scientifically educated to  believe anything too easily.
Even having seen success with Candle magick i’m like what if I didn’t burn what would have happened? I don’t know. There’s no control on those experiments.
So I can’t really be confident all I can tell you is I used the candles and something like what I wanted showed up.

When Is It Witchcraft? (Please keep in mind that this is the author’s perspective and not necessarily that of WOTC)

Thanks to a meme with a tree, people talking about whether or not things are “witchcraft” vs “pagan.” It’s obvious that there are a lot of people who are confused as to the differences, and I feel that I have some sense of understanding of how this happened. It’s a complicated and lengthy topic with lots of history, background, subtopics, and more than a little bit of ranting about why so many terms became confused with each other, but I’ll do my best to explain it as succinctly as I can.

Let’s start by getting into the definitions and descriptions of these terms.

Witchcraft is types of magic practiced by witches. There are many, many different traditions and practices of witchcraft out there both in the modern day and historically. Pagan is both an adjective and a noun that very broadly describes (often too broadly imho) various spiritual practices which are either are, and/or inspired by, pre-Christian practices. You don’t have to be pagan in order to be a witch–or to practice magic in general. In fact, a lot of witches are either not pagan at all or don’t use the label for themselves. I’m personally one. I will default to it if I have to in order to be understood in certain circles, but it’s not a label I feel accurately describes me. I prefer to describe myself as either a polytheist or a polytheistic witch instead.

Now, about that label of “witchcraft”. Witches aren’t restricted from certain religions or beliefs, or a lack thereof. Witches can be Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and/or atheist. To be a witch, you practice witchcraft. It’s a label best described as DOING vs belief… click here to read the rest of this article

A Laugh for Today

Sometimes you just have to kick back with a cup of tea or whatever and a good book than say, “There’ll be another full moon next month.”

Spell for Today –

Intuition Spell – Receive Clearer Messages from the Spirits

Our intuition is the Universe’s way to communicate with us. Once we have cast a spell, the Universe will respond by sending us the people and circumstances we have asked for. So it is important that we listen to our gut feelings, always, but particularly in the days and weeks after casting a spell. If we follow our intuition, the Spirits will lead the way. So how do we know what is intuition and what is merely our imagination? That is what this intuition spell is about. We will create a talisman which we can keep with us to receive clearer guidance. (Note: For lots more tips and tricks regarding intuition and spiritual communication, check out  “The Essence of Magick – A Wiccan’s Guide to Successful Witchcraft“.)

What you need for the intuition spell:

1small pouch (purple is preferred)

1 crystal quartz

1 amethyst crystal

5 purple candles

Sandalwood incense

1 small piece of paper and a pen

Let’s begin…

Start by placing the five candles around you in a circle. As you light the candles, invoke the Spirits and ask for protection and connection during the casting of this intuition spell. Sit in the middle of your circle. Light the incense. Breathe deeply and relax into a meditation, with your palms open to receive the Universe’s energies. You are going into your Higher Self to receive a symbol that represents your higher wisdom. Set this intention as you visualise your mind climbing from your Third Eye out through your crown and higher up, to a place about 1 metre (3 feet) above your head. This is your 10th chakra, where you Higher Self resides. Go into this place, feel your mind merging with this chakra. Breathe, relax, let it flow. When you are ready, say out loud or in your mind: “For clearer sight, for clearer mind A symbol of myself I’ll find” Repeat this a few times, then slowly move your mind back down into your Third Eye. Once there, you will see a symbol. It can be absolutely anything.

As soon as you see it, draw it on your piece of paper. This symbol, as I say, represents your higher wisdom and your Higher Self.

Place the piece of paper, together with the quartz and the amethyst, in your pouch, as you say the following words: “Universe, Spirits, Angels and Guides Receive my eternal gratitude for all that is I ask for clearer guidance, as I will listen with a sharper ear May this talisman heighten my intuition To receive your messages more clearly So mote it be”

Close your circle by blowing out the candles.

Thank the Spirits for their presence.

Keep the talisman with you, and keep it under your pillow at night. If ever you are confused about certain messages or a specific situation, meditate with your talisman. The best way to receive clear messages is to silence our minds. Stop trying anything; simply sit with your talisman and open your heart and soul to the never-ending guidance of the Universe, and the answers will come to you. As an alternative to this spell, you can use a Vision and Intuition Spell Kit or a Spirit Ritual Bath Kit, both of which come complete with all ingredients and full instructions to cast spells to enhance your intuition and psychic abilities.
