August 23 – Daily Feast

August 23 – Daily Feast

Painting a picture is much the same as living a life. Some of us only get the outline sketched while others find the time and desire to mix beautiful colors and brush them on canvas. Color is used sparingly on some canvases, others are somber and dark with little or no highlights. But those whose cheerful colors, cardinal reds, sunflower yellows, and all shades of purple and lilac, show us that life does not have to be ordinary. The Master Artist, U ne la nv hi, gave us all pallets and pots of bright colors to use boldly, or to mix in subtle but lively shades. We have been given the general sketch but it is left to us to fill in the colors, harmonizing and blending until we get the right tones. Each of us is a painter and each has the charge to make life a work of art.

~ They searched for a long period of time for the source of life, and at last came to see the thought that it issues from an invisible creative power to which they applied the name Wa-ko-da. ~

Calendar of the Sun for August 23

Calendar of the Sun

23 Weodmonath

Vulcanalia: Day of Hephaestos

Color: Red
Element: Fire
Altar: Upon a red cloth worked with flames set four red candles, a flaming brazier, a wooden crutch, a black rock, an anvil, a hammer, and many things worked of metal.
Offering: Fish. Nail parings and hair. Make something.
Daily Meal: Pie.

Vulcanalia Invocation

Lord of volcanoes,
You who understand submerged wrath,
Help me to keep mine in check.
Lord of work,
You who understand its balm to the soul,
Help me to learn the joys of focused labor.
Lord of craft,
You whose fire tempers iron into steel,
You who understand what it is to be crippled,
Beat my will strong and straight again
That the sign of your hammer
May be imprinted in everything I make.
Lord who is the strong iron of competence
And the driving blows of manifestation,
May your hands guide us into honorable work.
Hail Vulcan Mulciber, Charmer of Fire!
Hail Vulcan Quietus; may your gift of tame fire
Stay tame enough not to harm our house!
May your flames warm us, inspire us
And never burn beyond their borders,
So long as we give you the proper respect.

(Each comes forth and places something into the brazier, be it a bit of hair or nail parings, or some of the fish, which is given as an offering because fish is normally safe from fire. Those who wish to be blessed for their crafts may give an offering of craft today, or simply kneel and contemplate the craftwork on the altar, perhaps holding it and praising Hephaistos.)

Witches Magick for August 23rd – Naming the Poppet Ritual

witches_tools___magic_stock_by_sassy_stock-d10mf82

Naming the Poppet Ritual

Like any of your other tools, the poppet has to be consecrated, given a name and dedicated to the work you intend. Most importantly, tell the poppet who it is they will represent. You can say something simple along these lines “I have made you, and you are Jane Doe,” or whoever you are doing the spell for or want to hex. For a more potent effect you can use this naming ritual.

Little one, I made you and now I give you life

I name you (person’s name)

Their body is your body

Their breath is your breath

Their passion is your passion

Their blood is your blood

Though  separate you were

Now you are one.

So Mote It Be!

Then infuse it with personal energy to bring life to the poppet. Sometime this is done by breathing life into the poppet’s mouth through a straw. This way the poppet takes on a magickal life of its own, which activates the spell or working. Remember to keep any poppet you have made in a safe place. The doll represents the person so you wouldn’t want any harm to happen to the doll.

Let's Talk Witch – Pins and Needles

Witch-Spell-witches-and-wizards-18449264-394-498

*I know Mystie posted a lot of information on Poppets. But I do not believe she ever gave you information on how to use the pins and needles. Pins and needles are commonly associated with Poppets. And if you are going to use them, you can’t just jab them here and there. Below you will find a simple guide as to where to place the pins and needles. I hope it helps!”

Pins and Needles

When poppets are used, in most cases, you will use pins and needles inserted in conjunction with the part of the victim’s body. Of course, if the intent is to cause illness, locating the proper insertion point is just a matter of common sense. However, other key insertion points are often overlooked. And it’s to that end that a brief list follows below for your convenience.

Mouth:  To keep someone from spreading lies, speaking ill of you, or to hold gossip at bay, insert nine pins in the mouth.

Buttocks:  To keep someone from taking your job, place three pins each buttock cheek.

Hands:  Insert pins here to keep the victim from stealing from you–this could include preventing the theft of your lover–and to sentence him or her to a life of poverty.

Head: Pins inserted in the area can cause confusion, disorientation, and depression.

Eyes:  These are excellent inssertion points when the intent involves making the victim oblivious to your action.

Nose:  Insert two pins in each nostril to stop nosy neighbors, or keep the target from interfering in your business.

Spell for Forgiveness

Spell for Forgiveness

This is a spell for self-acceptance when you have made a mistake or are filled with guilt or regrets.

You will need

1 black candle
1 white candle
cup or chalice of clear water
either milk or juice
image of the Goddess
green plant

Cast a circle. Sit facing North
Light white candle and say;

Here is ________whose spirit burns as
brightly as this flame.
I come to you for forgiveness
Light the black candle and say;
Here are the negative things in my life.
All my anger and shame are here.

Hold the cup in both hands, filled with clear water.
You should have before you the image of the goddess and the green plant.
Visualize all the negative things you are feeling about yourself, the mistakes you have made, the things you have done wrong. Admit you feel bad, think about what you have done wrong, and let your emotion build energy.

Project all the energy into the cup. Breathe on the water to raise your power.
Visualize the Goddess as a forgiving Mother. Imagine her hands cover yours. Hear Her say:

I am the Mother of all things,
I pour my Love upon the earth.
I drink you in with perfect love,
Be cleansed. Be healed. Be changed.

Pour the water onto the plant, and feel all your negative emotions draining out of you.

Fill the cup with milk or juice. Raise more power, and visualize yourself as you would like to be, free of guilt and sorrow. Now say,

“Mine the cup, the waters of life. Drink deep!”

Know that you have changed, that you are now a new person, not affected by the
patterns and errors of the past. Ground yourself and open the circle.

To Stop Unwelcome Guests

To Stop Unwelcome Guests

When someone drops in on you at an inconvenient time, you can make him want to leave your house with this spell. Take your trusty broom, put it, with the handle facing the visitor, behind the door of an adjoining room. Soon the person will feel very uncomfortable and leave.

(This is a one-day spell only; the next day the person regains his usual desire to visit you.)

To cut out someone’s visits entirely, cast this spell. At midnight, put your broom across the threshold of the door the visitor uses and say:

“Guard well this threshold.
Guard well this door.
Make sure that (the visitor)
Will cross it no more.”

Daily Feng News for Aug. 21 – 'Radio Day'

Perhaps you’ve heard me share my monthly insights on the various national radio shows I contribute to. One of the ways that I secured all this media was to make sure that my ‘Helpful People’ area was activated and energized. Today’s ‘Radio Day’ energies remind me to share exactly how I trigger excellent opportunities from that arena. String six clear quartz crystals together and simply hang them in the ‘Helpful People’ location. Then dial in as people start bringing new opportunities right to you.

The Law of Return

The Law of Return

The Law of Return means that what you do affects what happens to you. If you do good, good is going to happen to you; if you do evil, evil will happen. The Law of Return exists in every religion in one form or another. In some it’s given a multiplier. Good and bad are said to come back upon you three- or tenfold.

The Ethic of Self-responsibility
Simply put, We and only we, are responsible for our own actions. In Wicca, there is no “The devil made me do it.” We don’t believe in devils.

The Ethic of Constant Improvement
The desire to improve the world around us, guided in part by the Law of Return.
Ecology, teaching and preaching tolerance, racial harmony and reverence for the arts and history, and living one’s life toward peace are important examples. Only by being constant in our learning, and growth, do we help prevent intolerance.

The Ethic of Attunement
Divinity is within us and around us, and becoming in-tune with this power is a major facet of Wicca.

1. We, in our Self, are divine. No one is in control of us except us.

2. The Gods/other powers are divine. The gods/goddesses are more like parents,
and less like the god of Christianity.

3. Earth is a living being. Each individual being, plant, animal or mineral on Earth is a part of that being. Everything has a spirit of its own.

Your Charm for August 18 is The Bulla

Your Charm for Today

Today’s Meaning:

You are distracted from this aspect by other areas of your life you feel are more pressing. This aspect is suffering from this lack of attention. You must ask yourself how much more you can let it suffer before you give it due attention.

General Description:

From remote times the terrors of the arts of fascination have been dreaded, and by wearing this charm, which contained a written invocation to their gods, it was believed that full protection was obtained. The Bulla was popular in Rome from a very early period. It was worn on a necklace, or upon the girdle. The Gorgons head, with hair of writhing snakes, was believed to terrify and drive away the power of the bewitcher. Even today in many countries, the magic power of the evil eye is still believed in.

I am feather, fang, hoof and horn,

Signer of the Twilight Song,

Lotus of the Starry Night,

Your Animal Spirit for August 16th is Hawk

Your Animal Spirit for Today
August 16, 2013

Hawk

Hawk flies into your reading today to bring you an important message. It may come in the mail, e-mail, a casual remark at the grocery store, a randomly selected page in a book, or even a phrase heard on the radio. Be alert, as hawk messages can sometimes be delivered in a subtle fashion.

Knot Magick Spell To Heal

Knot magick spell to heal

You need an 8 inches long string. Mark the string 6 times, so that you have seven equal parts. Repeat the following 6 times and tie a knot each time:

‘Disease, no one asks your stay,
It’s time for you to fade.
With these knots, I ask your leave,
With these words I weave.’

Put the string in a container with salt (represents burying it in the ground). Make a seal for the container with the spell above written on a piece of paper. Get rid of the container in an appropriate manner.

Bind From Harm (Knot Magick)

Bind From Harm

Use this spell to prevent someone from harming themselves and others. Tie nine knots in a cord while saying each time, “I bind you, (name),
from harming yourself and from harming others.” When you are finished say, “Three times three, I bind you, (name), from harming yourself and
from harming others.” Then burn the cord so that the knots may never
come undone.

August 13 – Daily Feast

August 13 – Daily Feast

There are right things to say and right ways of saying them, but many times we hit on a touchy subject because we were talking when we should have been listening. A casual remark that doesn’t mean much to us can strike a nerve in someone else. Even when we disregard other people’s feelings by saying they are too sensitive – it may be that we are too, in ge ya at hv na – careless or callous. Over the years we may learn how to make friends and how to keep them – and most of it is done by controlling our tongues. No matter how close we are to someone, it does not give us the right to say anything we choose.

Daily OM For August 13th – Letting Your Voice Be Heard

Letting Your Voice Be Heard

Writing Your Story

by Madisyn Taylor

Writing your own story can provide an outlet which can help purge any frustration, anxiety, or long-dormant feelings.

Everyone, at one time or another, has wanted to express his or her story. Writing a memoir to read privately, share with family or friends, or publish is an emotionally satisfying way to gain perspective on your experiences and to share your unique voice. We’ve all experienced feelings and events in our lives that we are longing to write down. Giving into that urge also can provide an outlet which can help purge any frustration, anxiety, or long-dormant feelings. No one else has to read it. You may even want to write your story without reading it afterward and put it away to read in the future. Satisfying the need to tell your story is not predicated upon your writing ability. It does, however take effort to write down the truth in detail. Your memories, captured on paper as descriptive scenes, sights, sounds, and scents, may at first seem disconnected or incomplete. But rest assured that you possess the ability to shape your recollections into stories.

Writing your story is different from journaling. Everyone wants to be heard and know that they matter. Reading your story to others meets the human need to be heard. Writing your story helps validate your life. We all want to know that what we have to say matters. And when you finish writing, even you may be surprised at what you have accomplished. Your story can encompass as much or as little of your life as you prefer. You may surprise yourself with new insights, or you may find yourself exploring your roots, your identity, and your future through your words. Allow your writing to guide you and write as truthfully as possible. Don’t worry about what others will think of your personal journey, your style of writing, or your words.

Research has shown that writing a narrative filled with feelings and perceptions can create long-term health benefits. As you write, remember to express compassion and understanding toward yourself, particularly when writing about traumatic events. If you are a young person, you can add to your life story as you grow older. Your writing may even help family members know you better or understand themselves more. Most importantly, in writing your personal story, you are expressing yourself in a permanent way, giving a gift to your future self, and letting your voice be heard.
