(One Person’s View) The Runes and The Elemental Links

Most people with even a smattering of knowledge of astrology will be aware of the elements of earth,
air, fire and water, and that three zodiac signs fit into each element. It should come as no surprise,
therefore, to learn that a rune also corresponds to each element.

What follows here are the most widely accepted linkages between the elements and four of the runes.
Also given are other runes which are said to link in with the element being discussed.

Earth

The element of earth is concerned with solid foundations, and with keeping in touch with reality. It
may be interesting to learn that Eihwaz, an earth rune, is sometimes called ‘the Rune of Death’ because
of the poisonous qualities of the yew tree with which it is associated.

Also associated with the earth element are Uruz, Wunjo, Berkana, Othila, Isa (which can also link
with the water element, ice being frozen water) and Jera. Isa, Eihwaz and Jera are also said to link
with the New Moon.

Water

Kaunaz is, surprisingly, a water rune. It relates to bonfires, but does not equate to the element of fire.
To the Vikings, bonfires were a physical light in the darkness, as well as symbolising inner knowledge
or enlightenment. It relates to emotions and intuition, and therefore its element is water. Some
runemasters will disagree here, preferring to keep Kaunaz with its symbol of fire.

Also associated with the water element are Perth, Lagu, Ing, Raido and Gebo. Hagalaz has
connections with ice, and so also correctly belongs with this element. Kaunaz, Raido and Gebo are
said to link with the waning of the moon. Gebo and Raido also link with the element of air.

Air

Ansuz, an air rune has a strong connection with Odin, who was considered to have discovered the
runes in the root of the Tree of the World, and as such has a link with the ash tree. He was also
considered to be the source of knowledge and inspiration and it therefore follows that Odin should be
described as the source of language, and the runes as a form of communication.

Ansuz relates to the element of air, to divine breath, to thought and to the power of the intellect.
Also associated with the element of air are Teiwaz, Berkana (which also links to earth having a
duality in element) and Ehwaz, which also link with the waxing of the moon. Algiz is also said to link
with the air element, as do Sowelu and Mannaz.

It should be noted that some runemasters suggest that Ansuz is more correctly linked with fire and
water rather than air.

Fire

Dagaz is a fire rune, and represents day, breakthrough. It is associated, too, with the dawn of the
world, since the earth was born in flames. Dagaz is considered to be the illuminator, the light, and as
such cannot be destroyed. It is the guardian by the doorway, a protective force against anything
harmful. Dagaz is another case of elemental duality, associated both with fire and air.

Also associated with the element of fire are Othila and Fehu, which also link with the full moon, and
with the element of earth – again, being dual in elemental nature. Thurisaz, Nauthiz and Eihwaz are
also said to link with fire, but it is worth noting that many runemasters consider Eihwaz as belonging

Daisy Source: uniguide.com

Daisy flower meaning and symbolism includes new beginnings, hope, innocence, fun, affection, and other sweet attributes. Daisies are part of the Asteraceae family of flowers, which includes over 32,000 species. Because of their popularity and the fact that daisies can be found on every continent except Antarctica, they are subjects in the mythology and folklore of many cultures around the world. This post will include some of those stories, as well as daisy color and spiritual meanings.

(As a side note, sunflowers are also part of the aster family of flowers, but because they are so distinct and have slightly different meanings, I wrote a separate post on sunflower meanings that you can read here.

“I keep stars in my pockets and wear daisies in my hair but I tuck you tenderly in the folds of my heart and take you everywhere.”
– Melody Lee

What does a daisy symbolize?

Here’s a quick list of what daisies symbolize. We’ll go into more detail on these throughout this post:

New Beginnings

Hope

Innocence

Fertility

Motherhood

Fun

Affection

Fidelity

Stardust

Daisy Symbolism: New Beginnings

Around the world daisy flowers are symbols of new beginnings. Blooming in spring, these charming flowers remind us of fresh starts, sunshine, and renewal. Because of this, they are often given as gifts or planted to welcome new babies into the world.

The name “daisy” actually comes from an Old English term that translates to “day’s eye.” The reason is that, like lotus flowers, daisies open up in the morning to take in the day’s sunshine and then close up again in the evening. So, the daisy reminds us that with each day, there is an opportunity to begin again.

Hope

Because they symbolize new beginnings, daisy flowers are also symbols of hope. They remind us that hope is one of the most powerful tools we have for manifesting better outcomes and a better world. Even disappointments can bring new opportunities. As the saying goes, “When one door closes and another one opens.”

Daisy Meaning: Innocence

As they are symbols of new beginnings and hope, daisy and aster flower meaning is also associated with innocence. As a result, these special flowers are representative of babies and children.

It’s important to keep in mind that innocence can apply to adults too. In this way, daisy meaning is akin to what the Buddhists describe as “having a beginner’s mind.” It means to embody a way of being and an approach to life and situations with the curiosity and enthusiasm of a child. This way, you benefit from having a fresh perspective.

Fertility and Motherhood

Just as they are associated with springtime, newborns and babies, daisies also symbolize fertility and motherhood. In fact, as you’ll read about later in this post, daisy flowers were associated with the Norse goddess Freya, who was a fertility goddess.

Daisy Symbolism: Fun

There is an easy-breezy aspect to daisy flowers. They bloom in spring, when nature is waking up, and they grow easily in a variety of conditions. Not to mention, these flowers are easy to draw. In fact, they were probably the first flowers that many of us drew as kids.

As daisies are associated with children, they are also associated with fun and lightheartedness. After all, children naturally love to laugh and have a good time.

Affection

How many of us have plucked the petals of a daisy as we played the game “He loves me, he loves me not” or “She loves me, she loves me not”? Because daisies grow easily in many locations, they are often the wildflowers picked spontaneously for a bouquet to give to someone you have a crush on. Thus, daisy flower meaning also includes affection and love.

In fact, in Victorian England, where flower symbolism was a popular pastime, giving daisies to someone meant that you returned their affection.

Daisy Meaning: Fidelity

Many of us have made daisy chains by connecting the stems of daisies together. This pastime goes back hundreds of years, to a time when daisy chains were worn as head wreaths or belts. However, the daisy chain is more than a pretty garland, as they symbolize fidelity and eternal love.

Stars

The Latin name for the Asteraceae family of flowers comes from the Latin word for “star,” which is “aster.” These flowers not only resemble bright stars, they’re also named for the Greek goddess Astraea who turned into a star. (You can read more about Astraea in the section on Greek mythology below.)

As symbols for stars, daisies remind us of something fundamental, which is that we all originated from the same source. As Joni Mitchell sang in her song “Woodstock”:

“We are stardust
Billion year old carbon…”

Daisy Color Meanings

Daisies come in a variety of bright colors, and each has special meanings. Here are some of those qualities:

White Daisy

With their white petals and yellow centers, white daisies symbolize innocence and the other classic daisy traits, such as babies, motherhood, hope, and new beginnings. White daisies make lovely gifts for new parents and newborns.

Yellow Daisy

Like sunflower symbolism, yellow daisies symbolize joy, childish fun, hope, and good luck. They make lovely gifts for friends or anyone whose spirits you want to lift.

Orange Daisy

Orange aster flowers symbolize health, healing, and optimism. They also symbolize zany, off-beat fun.

Pink Daisies

Pink daisies symbolize affection and love, including both platonic and romantic love. They are ideal gifts and lovely to plant in gardens for new babies, new moms, or friends and family.

Red Daisy

Red daisy flowers are positive symbols for wealth and prosperity. In addition, like other red flowers, they symbolize romantic love. Because the nature of these flowers is lighthearted and fun, red daisies make lovely gifts for new crushes.

In addition, as symbols of eternity and fidelity, they make wonderful gifts for long-term partners, especially when you want to rekindle the flames in your romance or reconfirm your commitment to each other.

Purple Daisy

Many daisies come in purple hues. So, like orange daisies, purple aster flowers symbolize zany fun and spontaneity. In addition, as purple is the color of peace and understanding, like other purple flowers, a purple daisy represents the kind of hope and optimism that brings people together and heals misunderstandings. Thus, it is a flower that represents unity.

Blue Daisy

As with other blue flower meanings, blue daisies symbolize long-term loyalty and trust. They’re also helpful symbols for visualization. Like wishing on a star, focusing on a blue daisy in prayer or meditation can help you to calm your mind and envision positive outcomes.

Green Daisy

Green daisies symbolize new beginnings, renewal, and growth. So, they are helpful symbols for new creative, business, or other endeavors.

Daisy Spiritual Meanings

On a spiritual level, daisy flowers represent spiritual faith and the eternal life of the soul. They also represent the possibility that we all have the opportunity to begin again, no matter the mistakes we’ve made in our past. For some, they are also symbols of reincarnation.

Associated Spirit Animals

Because they grow on every continent except Antarctica, the daisy plays an important role in the natural ecosystems where they grow. As a result, they share synergies with the wild animals and insects in their natural habitats.

For example, rabbits and deer love to eat daisy flowers. In addition, insects including ladybugsspiders, damselflies, and dragonflies prey on the insects that eat daisies. Therefore, they help to protect the life force of the flowers.

Furthermore, birds, including finches, sparrows, cardinals, and towhees, are attracted to daisies because they eat their seeds or the insects that live in their ecosystems.

Furthermore, the ancient Greeks would dry and crush the roots of daisy flowers and feed them to bees if they were sickly.1

On a spiritual level, daisies share synergies with the rabbit spirit animal because they are symbols of fertility and new beginnings. In addition, as symbols of fidelity and eternal love, they share symbolic meaning with birds, of which the majority, including eagles and crows, are monogamous.

Daisy Mythology and Folklore

Because they grow on nearly every continent on Earth, daisy and aster flowers have appeared in the myths and folklore of many cultures around the world. Here are some of those stories:

Daisy Meaning in Greek Mythology

For the ancient Greeks, daisy flowers were sacred. The Greeks made them into wreaths, which they placed in their temples. In addition, they burned their leaves to detoxify the air and drive evil spirits away.

The ancient Greeks also associated their goddess Astraea with daisy flowers. According to one Greek legend, during the Iron Age, humans began to make a lot of weapons and warfare increased. Incensed with the violence, Zeus decided to destroy the world of men with a great flood. But before he did, the gods, who had been living on Earth, left. The goddess Astraea was the last to leave. Heartbroken at the loss of life, she asked Zeus to turn her into a star.

Eventually, the flood waters receded. But all that was left of the world was mud and slime. Seeing the destruction, Astraea wept, and her tears fell as stardust. When they hit the land, they turned into daisy flowers.2

Native American Daisy Meanings

For Native Americans, daisies, like sunflowers, are associated with the life-giving attributes of the sun. The Native Americans also eat the daisy seeds and they used to use their stalks as building materials.

Daisy Meaning in the United States

In the U.S., daisies are April birth flowers. They are associated with new beginnings, happiness, and lighthearted fun.

Celtic Daisy Meaning

For the ancient Celts, daisies brought protective powers and good luck to babies and young children.

Norse Daisy Mythology

The Vikings associated daisies with their goddess Freya, who was a fertility goddess and the guardian of new mothers.

Asia

In China and Japan, daisy flowers are associated with fidelity and eternal love.

Daisy Tattoo Meaning

A daisy tattoo is a great design for a tattoo because these flowers are relatively simple in composition, yet they symbolize many positive attributes. A daisy tattoo tells the world that you are lighthearted and look for the fun in life. It can also be an ideal symbol when you are starting something new in your life. While tattoos are highly personal to each individual, hopefully understanding the qualities that daisies represent will bring deeper meaning to your tattoo.

One Way of Reading Druid Ogham

What is Ogham?

Ogham is a divination system like Tarot cards or runes that is also a system of writing used by the ancient Celts known as Druids.  Ogham letters (also called Fews) are made up of simple lines that can be inscribed on any convenient surface.  They are read from the bottom up.

Each Ogham letter stands for a type of tree, and the characteristics of that tree (prickly like holly, flexible like willow) grant the Ogham its insights into human nature. Just as each Tarot card should be studied for its individual meaning and its relationship to other cards, Ogham were meant to be studied one by one. This website is the product of my own discursive meditations with Ogham.

Individual Ogham letters are often engraved on sticks or printed on cards in order to use them for divination. To read Ogham as one would read Tarot cards or runes, any number of spreads can be utilized from asking a simple yes or no question where you pull a single Ogham stick/card to complex interpretations of a dozen Oghams thrown on a table or on the ground reveal the future depending on the angles at which they fall. I personally prefer a simple three Ogham reading. I do it every day sometime in the morning. In my mind or out loud, I ask the Ogham: “What do I need to know in order to make the best out of today?” and then reach my hand into the box where I keep my Ogham tiles. Then I pick three of them and lay them side by side.

Wicca and Witchcraft – Witch’s Runes

Most Witches are aware that runes can be used for divination. Most practitioners have seen or used the well known Futhark (or Viking) runes, but did you know that there is actually a set of eight pictgraphic runes solely for use by Witches?

The Witch’s runes consist of eight pictographic stones: The Sun, moon, crossed spears, black rune, wave, ear of corn, rings and the birds.

Many Witches use both the Witch’s runes and the Futhark runes when divination is called for. To use the Witch’s Runes for divination purposes the runes are cast in the manner of dice, casting all of them at once.

A rune is only relevant to a reading if … Click here to read the rest of this article Source: Psychic-revelation.com

Norse Runes: Viking Runes, Norse Symbols and Much More to Know!

Archaeology played a big role in making the human race aware of the civilizations from the ancient era. It is now clear that those centuries-old civilizations (like Mayan, Egyptian, and Norse) used unique communicating language in the form of specific Norse runes and carved images on the cave walls.

All or most of these civilizations used these unique methods of communication for thousands of years. They created their own mythologies and holy scripts to promote their culture and rituals to the other parts of the world.

Among all those mythologies and holy scripts, Norse mythology is the one that brings along some exciting and thrilling stories. In fact, there exists a lot of evidence to prove their beliefs and facts in similar regard.

The warriors of this civilization, known as Norse Vikings, used to communicate via Norse Rune stones ( stones carved with random signs and artwork). The Viking runes were their way of expressing feelings, specific events and also the war signs. If you are interested in this aspect of history, then read ahead to gain all the essential information about the Viking runes.

The Viking Runes

The Norse culture today is popular for the way they passed down the stories to the next generation. The culture used oral interpretations rather than writing tales. Old Norse is popular as the Viking’s speaking language. People used it for passing sagas and also some other stories to the children.

Before accepting the Latin alphabet, runes letters were presented in the alphabetic form known as runic alphabets. Many used them for writing indifferent Germanic languages during that time.

People used the Viking runes to describe things and places, and mystical courses of future events. However, they usually used them for protection. People use some of the Norse symbols commonly for love, health, seed, tides and even the weather. In contrast, some people also use Viking runes for abortion, cursing, birth and even death.

Among all the reasons for using Viking runes, the most basic one was to attract good fortune. The Vikings used the runes for more than 2000 years. They usually carved them into cups, amulets and the ship’s bows. These runes were invented by the northern European to present specific things like the force of nature. During those times, the people believed they could have power the weather by having control over the weather runes of Viking.

Gebo – “Gift”

Gebo is the rune of gifts. It’s a positive symbol that indicates you are in the possession of many gifts and talents or that someone will bestow upon you bountiful blessings. It also relates to generosity, balance, and positive relationships. It has no inverted meaning.

KEYWORDS: Generosity, partnership, gifts

Witches’ Rune

The Moon

Long term changes are coming, transitions and changes, hidden agendas – secrets, imagination, feminine energies.

Rune Name: Moon
Think: Things are a little bit loony. The moon waxes and wanes in cycles and the full moon looks like a circle in the sky.
Remember: Negative. Past cycles are repeating themselves. However, pay attention to your intuition. Your dreams may have special messages for you during this time. There may be much secrecy and mystery going on. The moon can be a motherly, nurturing influence who gives advice that simply must be followed.

B – Beith

Beith, or Beth, corresponds to the letter B in the alphabet, and is associated with the Birch tree. When this symbol is used, it is representative of new beginnings, change, release, and rebirth. In some traditions, it also has connections with purification.

Birch trees are hardy. They’ll grow just about anywhere, including on bare soil. Because they tend to grow in clusters, what may be just one or two seedlings now can be practically an entire forest in a few decades. In addition to being a sturdy sort of tree, the Birch is useful. In days gone by, it was used for infants’ cradles, and is still harvested today to make cabinets and furniture.

From a magical perspective, there are a number of uses for Birch. The branches are traditionally incorporated into the construction of a besom, and are used for the bristles. Use the white outer bark in ritual in place of paper or parchment–just be sure you only harvest the bark from a fallen Birch tree, not a living one. Ancient herbalists discovered that various parts of this tree can be used for medicinal purposes. Bark was once brewed into a tea to fight fevers, and the leaves were used alternately as a laxative and a diuretic, depending on how they were prepared.

Beith Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: When this symbol appears, it means it’s time to get rid of all those negative influences you’ve been carrying around with you. Figure out what things are bad in your life, which relationships are toxic, and find a way to leave them behind. Instead of being dragged down by the negative, focus on the positive things you have in your life, the blessings and abundance. Use these things as a focus, rather than the harmful or damaging ones.

Magical Aspects: Consider the property of renewal and rebirth, as demonstrated by the Birch. Use this as a tool for spiritual and emotional regrowth, and developing your own ability to regenerate where there has been emptiness or devastation.

Candle Divination

Information on divination with candles both tapers and seven day novena candles.

Casting Directions for ‘Candle Divination’

The art of Ceromancy or divination with candles has different kinds to it. The studying of the pictures candle wax makes in water OR th way a candle burns. The way a candle burns is actually called Lychnomancy or La Lingus Delle Candelle, “the language of the candle.”

As this is about Ceromancy this is what I will dicuss first then I will discuss Lychnomancy later on. Ceromancy is when the witch lights a candle and then drips wax from the candle into a bowl of water. Then the witch would search for images that form in the wax in the water. It’s that easy.

One can probably use the candle color that is suitable depending on the question. Pink for love, green for cash, brown for your home, etc.. Although it was traditional for you to use darker candles because the darker candle wax is easier to see in the water.

One Italian System of ceromancy is recorded in Judika Illes, The Element Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells, 2004 (p. 307)

Bind two tapers–not dripless beeswax candles. Place standing in a bowl of water. Place in the water, nettle leaves, cumin seeds, three rose hips, and a couple of sprigs of rue.

Light the candles. Observe the wax dripping into the water that is chilly. Interpret any contours formed by the hot wax solidifing from the cold water. The best interpretation of what a shape is and what it means is up to you.

Here are the common image meanings found in Ceromancy:

AEROPLANE – A trip of a disappointment
ANCHOR – Your loved one is true

BABY – Troubles are coming
BALL or BALLOON – Your problem will not last very long
BEANS – Money difficulties
BED – A vacation would be good for you
BELLS – A wedding
BIRD – News will reach you shortly
BRIDGE – Take a chance
BROOM – Make a change

CANDLE – Spiritual growth
CAT – A friend is false
CHAIN – Go ahead with your plans
CIRCLE – Reconciliation
CLOUD – Something or somebody threatens you
CROSS – Do not fear for you are protected
CROWN – Sickness
CUP – Bitter quarrel with a friend

DOG – Your self-esteem is too low

EAR – Be alert for an opportunity to progress in your work
EGG – New developments shortly

FAN – A surprise is in store for you
FEATHER – The problem will be solved
FISH – Someone will betray you

GHOST – Someone from the past is looking for you

Nion/Nin

N is for Nion, sometimes called Nuin, which is connected to the Ash tree. Ash is one of three trees which were sacred to the Druids (Ash, Oak and Thorn), and connects the inner self to the outer worlds. This is a symbol of connections and creativity, and transitions between the worlds.

In Norse legend, Yggdrasil, the World Tree, is an Ash. Its roots grew down far into the Underworld, and its branches reached all the way up into the heavens. Odin hung himself from the tree for nine days as a sacrifice. Ash also features prominently in the Irish myth cycles, and is often depicted growing beside a well or pool of wisdom.

Nion Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: Remember that for every action, there is a consequence, and these effect not only ourselves but others as well. What we do in our life will carry into the future and possibly even beyond. Every one of our words and deeds has some sort of impact.

Magical Aspects: The Universe is like a giant web. Strands bind us all together, either closely or at a distance. We are all connected in one way or another, so it is important to find harmony between the spiritual realm and the physical, and between all living beings. Endeavor to live a spiritual life that considers the needs of the natural world around you.

Eight

The most misunderstood number in numerology. The Numerology Meaning of the Number 8: BALANCE & POWER

In Numerology, both novices and professionals alike tend to focus on the “money and power” image of the 8. Often when a client requests a name change consultation, it’s because they want to add 8s to their chart with the mistaken belief it will bring them money and power.

It is true that the 8, more than any other number, emphasizes the areas of career, business, finances, and authority.

As with other single-digit numbers, the shape reflects its most important attribute; in the case of the 8 it signifies balance. The 8 is the great Karmic Equalizer, a force that creates just as efficiently as it destroys. When the 8 comes knocking, you can be assured you will reap what you’ve sown.

The 8 creates a balance between the material and spiritual worlds.

At its best, it is as spiritual as it is materialistic. The sacred side of the 8 is practical, rational, and intelligent. It knows the difference between make-believe and genuine realization.

On the material plane, it is focused on results – often in the form of money – yet it doesn’t care about acquiring wealth merely for the sake of being wealthy. It is not greedy; it sees money as a tool not an end-result. It is generous and willing to take risks.

Straif

Resilience through hardship, hardening off, discipline, sacrifice

Tree: Blackthorn/Sloe (Prunus spp.)

Letter: Z

When you get mad or hate something because it goes against your grain, you have choices. You can wallow in your anger and lash out foolishly, which effectively makes you act in sympathy with that which you despise. You can do nothing/go the pacifist route and try to repress your anger, which will cause it to build up and eat at you from the inside in the form of depression. Thirdly, you can use your anger as a starting point or what is called a thrust block from which to make yourself so completely different from what is causing you anger that you end up rising above it and beating it at its game. Strife can either drag you down or raise you up by making you more resilient, but it is all in how you choose to handle it.

When you draw Straif, there is an experience being put in your way that isn’t pleasant. This experience can be transformed into a learning tool if you can work it out. Straif is a battle you must fight and often a disruption in routine. Just as a sword must be subjected to multiple processes to become sharp, sparks are going to have to fly before you can forge your destiny. You may need to sacrifice in order to become a stronger, better human being.

By admitting (not repressing), analyzing, and dealing with your dark emotions instead of allowing them to call the shots, drawing Straif well-dignified points to the real possibility you’ve dodged a nasty bit of strife because you’ve already learned not to be fear’s or anger’s puppet.

Twenty-Seven/27

I / Providing Nourishment

Beneath the immobile Mountain the arousing Thunder stirs:
The Superior Person preserves his freedom under oppressive conditions by watching what comes out of his mouth, as well as what goes in.

Endure and good fortune will come.
Nurture others in need, as if you were feeding yourself.
Take care not to provide sustenance for those who feed off others.
Stay as high as possible on the food chain.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

You are a conduit in this instance, able to provide the sustenance needed by others.
Position yourself to nourish the truly needy and worthy.
Avoid situations where you might be coerced into supporting the parasites and vermin who deprive your true charges.
Your own nourishment is an issue here, too.
Remember Lao Tzu’s three Great Treasures:
Only the person possessed of Compassion, Modesty and Frugality can remain fit enough to stay free of desperation and keep control of the situation.

Phagos

Teaching, education, mastery, virtuosity, legacy

Tree: Beech (Fagus spp.)

Letter: Ph or F

Phagos is a reminder of the mental discipline it takes in the process of acquiring knowledge. When you get to the point of knowing a subject so well, you can teach it effortlessly, then you have mastered the subject on the mental plane, which reverberates through the other planes. Saturated knowledge is knowing a thing inside and out. Those who believe in reincarnation believe this is the kind of knowledge that does not go away when you shed one mortal body for the next one: for instance, a skilled midwife will stand a good chance of coming back as a competent ob/gyn who stumbles upon their talent in a seemingly random way. Or a lute player may be reborn and pick up the guitar at age twelve and learn it faster than any other kid in their class because of knowledge picked up in past lifetimes.

Teaching and inspiring others to master a subject is the physical manifestation of knowledge, or in old terminology, the Word made flesh. Beech tree bark makes a primitive form of paper. Phagos implies the written word and the transmission of knowledge through our uniquely human invention: writing.

Teachers and teaching are often undervalued in the modern West, with denigrations such as “those who can, do; those who can’t, teach,” being thrown about by the arrogant who have never been able to translate their mental skill in a way that consistently inspires others to learn. Bad teachers abound, and they can be bad for any number or reasons: some choose teaching when they have no passion for it, some want the glory of being labeled a teacher. Everybody knows that a good teacher is worth their weight in gold when it comes to the transmission of knowledge, and that a bad teacher is hardly worth the powder to blow them to hell, and often what a teacher is paid has nothing to do with what they’re worth. If you have a good teacher, let them know. Learn all you can while you are able to do so with the best teachers you can find (we live in the age of the internet, and a huge number of great teachers “live” there). Concentrate on a small number of subjects until you gain complete mastery, because you will take that knowledge with you long after your current flesh body dies. If you know a subject well enough to teach it, this Ogham is encouraging you to spread the wealth of your knowledge with other humans in a direct and potentially physical way such as writing.

Hexagram Twenty-Seven/27

Name: I.

Keyphrase: Nourishment.

Formed By The Trigrams: Mountain over Thunder.

General: Spiritual discrimination is as important as physical discrimination.

Love: Choose your thoughts and words wisely in your relationship and remember to be tolerant.

Business: Use the right words and you will help sustain and nourish your business.

Personal: Now is a good time to clear out all that is not worthy from your life.

Overview: I relates to nourishment. In the same way that food is used to nourish your body, I suggests that words and ideas be used in the same way. It cautions that as with food your words should be chosen carefully. Just as bad food can upset you or those around you, bad words can do the same. When the body and spirit are both well provided for then you will be at your most powerful and effective.

Magpie

Creativity and Imagination

Magpies are attracted to unique objects, particularly if these objects are shiny. This resonates very well with your creative brain.

If you are an artist or a lover of literature, you will realize that you look at things from a different perspective from most people.

Witchcraft and Magic

In the olden days in Western cultures, witches wore long collared black dresses that somewhat resembles the magpie’s pied plumage.

It is also believed that witches used magpies to communicate with the dark creatures of the forest. This association makes people relate this bird to magic and the dark arts of wizardry.

Po / Splitting Apart

The weight of the Mountain presses down upon a weak foundation of Earth:
The Superior Person will use this time of oppression to attend to the needs of those less fortunate.

Any action would be ill-timed.
Stand fast.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

This is a situation easily mistaken for Stagnation (Hexagram 12) or Revolution (Hexagram 49).
It just depends on which side you’re on.
During a time of Stagnation, human worms invade to feed on the decay.
During a time of Revolution, oppression is being overthrown.

Two

Two, as one of the Core Numbers, is an Axis of Symmetry, a point of equilibrium which provides peace to your inner world. Any disturbance of this condition you perceive as a direct threat to life and well-being. It provokes you to action with the main goal of the restoration of order and harmony in the world.Intuitive confidence in the rationality and justice of the world order makes you stick to the view that all the troubles come from the people’s inability to hear and understand each other. Therefore you voluntarily assume the responsibility of a peacemaker.

Positive qualities

The list of positive qualities of the Two fully matches the list of canonical human virtues. They are good nature, peacefulness, generosity, ethic and tact based on intuition, insight and understanding of the human soul.

Add romantic, artistic nature and an exceptional sense of beauty here, and you get a genuine Masterpiece. One can only regret that it is almost impossible to have this figure in all numbers of the numerological core, and that people whose positive qualities completely supersede all the negative ones simply don’t exist.

One should clearly see the borderline between diplomacy and commitment to the peaceful coexistence, and compliance and timidity.

Tarot Card

From A Guide to the Celtic Dragon Tarot2001 and 1999 by D. J. Conway and Lisa Hunt Pages 98 – 99

7 of Swords – Minor Arcana

Bad Feelings; snooping

A man is carrying away seven swords from an open chest just behind him. The lock on the chest is broken, so he is stealing what is not his. On a shelf above the chest, two tiny Fire dragons are screaming in anger. The little dragons try to warn him, but he refuses to listen. The thief has forced open the perilous box of universal, magickal knowledge within his subconscious mind and thinks to steal away with the power (swords) he found within. Only an initiate, who has studied and brought balance to all areas of his life, is given the key to open this perilous chest of wisdom and power. The thief has found a shortcut to gain what he wants without the work or dedication. He believes he is above the Law and will not suffer karmic consequences. However, he is wrong, for the Law will always be balanced, regardless of human desires to the contrary.

Divination Meaning: You are creating trouble through the wrong use of personal power. Failure of a plan may come about because of wrong motives. Do not snoop into the affairs of another; you will get burned. You feel cheated or wronged.

Ruis

Regret, pride, shame, embarrassment, learning from experience, resolution

Tree: Elder (Sambucus spp.)

Letter: R

Shame isn’t all bad and does not deserve a uniformly awful reputation. Without shame and the fear of being shamed, every human child would be demonically bratty. Shame is a limit that informs us to keep our own ego in check. It is often about considering others. Having shame about one’s own past behavior is motivation to avoid shameful behaviors such as cheating and stealing.

Shame is an emotion that demands confrontation. All too often, people run away from what shames them, attempt to excuse themselves from wrongful or immoral behavior because they’re too cowardly to face what they have done or to admit their responsibility in causing their own misfortunes or the misfortune of others. Ruis indicates a willingness to face one’s own shame and to do with shame what it was meant for, and that is to use shame of the past to build oneself into a better person for the present and future. Ashamed of something you did? How can you make yourself into the type of person who would never even think of doing something like that? Overcome being the type of person who would engage in the shameful behavior and you become the master of it; you won’t have the remotest chance of repeating such a mistake. Did you become embarrassed because you did something you now understand to be greedy? Then learn to balance thriftiness with generosity. Adjust to the circumstance rather than overreacting to it. Are you ashamed about cheating on a boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse? Become a person who would never cheat on your boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse regardless of conditions, which could mean an assortment of outcomes: sticking to a resolution of no cheating and staying together, admitting one’s sexual preferences and going with the flow, changing the person you are with, or being single for a long time.

Because humans tend to remember negative experiences more easily than positive ones, it’s important when you draw Ruis to acknowledge the things you are not ashamed of about yourself. For every bad or shameful thing you’ve done, remember there are a thousand shameful things you avoided. Maybe it is time to appreciate the places you could have gone horribly wrong and did not.

Questions when you draw Ruis:

-What are three acts you are most ashamed of? Are you now the type of person who would not do that anymore?
-What are three shameful behaviors you’ve never done but someone who know has done?

Ruis ill-dignified excess: Beating yourself up too hard
You may be too hard on yourself. Thinking deeply about what you’ve done in your life that you aren’t proud of is great — don’t go too far with it, or only superficially examine behaviors you’re not proud of in order to beat yourself up. Do you have feelings of inferiority you need to analyze? Don’t be afraid to dissect your own shadow.

Too much shame can result in politically correct cowardice. Address your own mistakes before judging the mistakes of others. When you try and repress your feelings of hatred, anger, and fury, the result is toxicity that leaks out under the cracks. If Ruis is ill-dignified in the Situation position, it may be warning of all too common privileged, self-hating bigot types who attempt to enforce political correctness via shame — for instance the idea that racism cannot happen to white men. For those who attempt to use shame to control the behavior of the masses around them, their karma is to end up in the middle of a circular firing squad at best and at worst to be pointing the gun’s nozzle to the roof of their own mouth. Excessive shame can easily sour into a vile form of self-hatred that refuses to acknowledge limits. There is good that can come of shame, but not when it is rooted in dishonesty and the urge to weaponize shame in order to force others to conform.

Ruis ill-dignified dearth: Lacking shame and the good sense that goes with it
Too little shame is solipsism, or the belief that since we answer only to ourselves in the end, the world is a free for all of Social Darwinism and we’d do best to grab all we can in the feeding frenzy. Drawing Ruis ill-dignified isn’t necessarily saying you are the smoking train wreck of a sociopath who is acting the compleat solipsist; it is more of a warning of tendencies towards that type of flawed thinking or a call to look at the nature of solipsism and to meditate upon what it means to you. Don’t be the pot who calls the kettle black. Caring about how your actions impact your family, friends, the environment, and the future is ultimately anti-solipsistic. A little self-shame goes a long way in bettering one’s own development as a human being.

Tarot Cards

All cards today are from the Master Tarot Deck by Astrology Answers

General

The Hanged Man – Major Arcana

Meaning

The Hanged Man is a card of suspended animation, although this man tells us some force in his life is restricting him. It could be a dead-end jobrelationship, or simply an unfulfilled life because there is no action. It also suggests that you are clinging to something that is not fulfilling. Maybe you have hopes and dreams pinned on a love that is not good for you or a job that will get you nowhere. Whatever you are waiting for, when The Hanged Man Tarot card appears, his message is that you need to let go and move on. It may take a sacrifice of some sort, and it will likely be a painful one, but once you do, you will find the gift sets you free.

Symbolism

The Hanged Man is one of the most ambiguous cards in the Tarot. In this Major Arcana card, we have a man hanging on a thread, his legs are crossed, and he appears to be going nowhere. This is the card of suspended animation. Are you waiting for news or waiting for a relationship to evolve to the next level? If so, this card says you may be waiting a while. The Hanged Man has his legs crossed in this card, suggesting he has no intention of escaping this situation any time soon. He’s content just to let things go as they are now. Most of the time, this card is not so much an action card as it is a waiting card. However, this card does suggest if you want to get out of this waiting stage, uncrossing your legs and taking action is up to you.

Love

4 Of Pentacles – Minor Arcana

Meaning

If it arrives in your day, the 4 of Pentacles Tarot card wants to let you know that you are hanging onto something out of fear. But there’s nothing wrong with that. We all hang onto things for fear of losing them. This is not an action card but a card of you pulling everything close to your vest to maintain control and stability. It often takes great discipline to do so, so the theme of discipline is also present in your day when you see this card. When this card appears, the message is to look at your environment and what you are so afraid of losing. It may not be a bad idea to relax your way of life, as the 4 of Pentacles conveys the message that you have nothing to worry about.

Symbolism

In the 4 of Pentacles, we see a man sitting down and holding onto four pentacles as if they are his last source of abundance. In a way, they are. This is a man that is fearful of loss. This could be a fear over losing a relationship, fear over losing status, fear over losing a job, or fear over losing money. The symbolism of this card shows the man tightly holding onto these things, worried that they will slowly be ungripped from his hands. When this card appears in your day, you are clinging to security for dear life. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes we need to keep things close to our chest for security reasons.

Health

10 Of Cups – Minor Arcana

Meanings

The 10 of Cups Tarot card signifies happy times and a happy couple. If you are worried about love when you see this card, don’t be. You have everything your heart desires, or you will soon have it. There is great joy ahead, and everyone you want will be around you to celebrate. As this card represents a completed cycle, you may be moving to the next level in your relationship, getting married, attending a wedding, or becoming involved in something that will bring you sheer joy and bliss. Don’t question it. Enjoy it!

Symbolism

Cups in the Tarot represent love, and tens in the Tarot represent cycles of completion. When you see the 10 of Cups appear in a Tarot reading, know that the joy and the love you feel are real. Here we see a happy couple dancing under a rainbow of fulfillment and love. You have found your bliss, and you are reveling in it. The 10 of Cups often makes us feel like what is happening now is too good to be true. But its message is—it’s not. It is happening. Enjoy your moment. You’ve worked very hard for it!

Knight Of Pentacles – Minor Arcana Court Card

Meaning

When the Knight of Pentacles Tarot card arrives, know that you will meet a knight that wants to make your dreams come true for a very long time to come. This is very similar to the Knight of Cups but with a more practical tone. Where the Knight of Cups is dreamy and romantic and there for a long time, the Knight of Pentacles is more practical and reliable. This is the guy you call when your tire is flat, and he will help you out without even blinking.

In love, this card means you are likely involved with a wealthy male or female who can help you find the stable and secure home life you crave. In work or money situations, this card says news is on its way that is going to improve your situation for some time to come.

Symbolism

The Knight of Pentacles is a card that shows a knight on a horse and carrying a pentacle in his hand. Knights are about the delivery of messages, or this knight might even represent young male energy between the ages of 18 and 35 and someone who may be an Earth sign.

This knight is one that is not moving as quickly as the Knight of Wands or Knight of Swords. That tells us he has more stability and security to offer than the more energetic knights, and is why the timing of this card could span several months. This one is in for the long haul! He bears good tidings of great joy, and he wants to be here to stay!

Coll/Call

Pronunciation – Cull

Tree Association – hazel

Meaning – Enlightenment, knowledge, creative inspiration, daydreaming, rituals, proficiency, and practicality. An ogham of great wisdom and considered quite lucky. It was believed this source of knowledge came directly from nature and by using all five senses you would comprehend this wisdom.

If reversed – Ignorance, insensitivity, creative barriers. Focus on growing and development; you lack education. If life has been disappointing you recently now is a good time to change your perspective and find the simple joys in everyday moments.

Inscription and Magical Uses – Helpful to use with meditation when searching for creative inspiration, insight, or deep knowledge. Carve or wood burn into hazelwood to use as a wishing wand to help manifest intentions and dreams.

Folklore – The hazel tree was considered so sacred that one would receive the death penalty for chopping it down. An Irish myth references Finn mac Cumhail, an apprentice who gained extraordinary knowledge from eating a salmon that fed on nine hazelnuts from the Well of Wisdom. (FYI, in case you didn’t notice, Coll is the ninth ogham).

I Ching

Hexagram Fourteen/14

Fire Above, Sky Below

Supreme success! Like the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, a person whose fortunes have turned for the better shines brightly now. At the core of true success lies unselfish generosity and modesty. It is the tendency of a flexible or yielding nature to draw powerful forces to it, especially when prosperity begins to manifest. When this added power is wielded with grace and dignity, we have supreme success and great abundance.

Ah, but be careful, Along with any accumulation of wealth or influence can come increased pride and arrogance. Fight this tendency if you want your good fortune to continue. Stay attentive enough to manage your affairs well. And remember while prosperity beats the alternative, it is only one element of a satisfying life. A lasting prosperity is one that honors the highest values and furthers the collective good.

What you have done will come with results and will somehow come to fruition.

It’s time to step up to become more confident in your own actions.

Animal Spirit Guide or Helper

Today’s Animal Spirit Guide or Helper comes from Messages From Your Animal Guides Oracle cards by Steven D. Farmer pages 30 to 32

“Stay in the background and adapt to the situation rather than being conspicuous and attempting to direct the course of events.”

Even if you believe that you have the right answer for the dilemma at hand or a better way to handle things, at this time it’s best to surrender to the Will of Spirit and simply allow events to unfold without your direct intervention or guidance. Pay attention to what’s happening but become more of a witness/observer than an obvious participant. Simply by your presence you are participating; however, there’s no need to subtly or more blatantly push your agenda on those around you. Even when you’re physically present, you can contract your energy field (or aura) to the point where others may not notice you, thus allowing you to be unobtrusive and more easily blend in with your surroundings. With practice, you can get so good at this that you’ll be nearly invisible to others!

This isn’t a call for you to be passive, but to wait and contain yourself until you know with certainty that it’s time to step up and let your presence be known. When it’s time to do so, move quickly with focus and certainty. But in the meantime, flow with the situation instead of trying to make something happen. Whatever needs to occur is already in motion anyway, so go with it.

Tarot Card

Today’s Tarot card reading comes from The Green Witch Tarot Deck and The Green Witch Tarot Companion by Ann Moura. With the art done by Kiri Ostergaard Leonard.

General

Page of Athames – Minor Arcana

This is a card of apprentice who is eager to test the skills learned. There is an adroit use of language talents and desire to be more self-assertive. Here the young girl practices calling the quarters for ritual, using the instructions in her Book of Shadows and gaining self-confidence with her actions. This is the beginning of independent thinking, but one must take care no to let this self-assurance slip into the cockiness of ambition and certitude. The time is right to showcase one’s talents for evaluation, endorsement, recognition, or advancement. Proving oneself can be a personal matter or one related to work, with the implied caution of possible competition with others reaching for the same goal. Vigilance is needed, plus a keen awareness of learning what is required to pursue one’s goals. Competitors may be engaging in spying and gossip, so one must be discreet with words and apply the necessary wisdom to avoid spitefulness. Be wary of taking inappropriate shortcuts, for there is abundant energy to get past obstructions to learning and, through the testing, to prove one’s abilities in pursuit of one’s goals.

Borage, representing an increase of psychic power, protection, and courage, grows in the clearing. An owl, a symbol of Moon magic and intuition, watches from a nearby tree branch.

Meaning: Assertiveness, showcasing talents, demonstrating abilities for advancement, testing skills, pursuing goals, vigilance, language skills, proving abilities, scrupulous preparations, practicing a skill, beginnings of independent thinking, preparing for action.

Prompt Words: Showcasing talents, vigilance.

Two of Pentacles – Minor Arcana

This is a card of security concerns. A person is focused on security of home and finances, saving money yet also having money to spend. This card indicates a cautious approach to friendship and socializing — not antisocial, but just be careful and perhaps a little suspicious of the motives of others. Access to the home is restricted until a person is more familiar with would-be guests. Such a person does not appreciate uninvited or unexpected visitors to the home, nor a presumption of personal familiarity. Reserved and careful, and self-contained, the person is possibly living in comfortable circumstances but has concerns about being taken advantage of and losing what has been gained. Financial security is of paramount importance, and this state is well entrenched. What is earned is kept in reserve, perhaps building up a savings account or being directed into a fund. This is the card of a private person, one who may be influential but also Selective of associates. There may be financial blockage or simply an unwillingness to spend money. This is a thrifty person, so gift-giving is likely limited by price.

Nettle, an herb of security, home protection, increasing finances, is kept by the door of the house. A turtle, a symbol of security, abundance, defense, and relationships, withdraws into his shell.

Meaning: Security of home and finances, careful spending, saving money, budgeting, controlling personal access, feeling insecure, blocked expression, social reluctance, reserved nature, socially shy, suspicious of others’ motives, selective of associates, a small gift, endurance, pay raise, increase in income, income directed to private employment of beauty.

Love

Two of Chalices – Minor Arcana

This is a card of good communication and loving companionship. A true lover’s card, it shows a that choice or decision has been made and that a couple is well suited for each other. It may also represent a congenial relationship between two people, and while usually reflecting love, understanding, and possibly marriage, it can also apply simply to a satisfying partnership in a business, friendship, or social setting where there is a strong bond between two people. There may be a happy surprise, a proposal, or a reconciliation implied. As this is a card of joy and happiness, the relationship may be clarified by surrounding cards in a spread. There is a sense of well-being that is shared with another, with mutual respect and enjoyment. Creative ideas may also be indicated, shared, and appreciated by another who is close. Agreement and agreeable relationship bring one comfort and security. There is a strong bond of trust here, as well as dependability and goodwill.

Coriander, a plant of love, fidelity, home, happiness, peace, and security, grows near the couple. A goose, a symbol of fidelity, love, communication, and comfort, watches nearby.

Meaning: Emotional balance, good communication, satisfying partnership, compatibility, proposal, harmony, reconciliation, cooperation, affinity, affection, a happy surprise.

Prompt Words: Good partnership, harmony.

The Horned God – Major Arcana – Reversed

The antlered God of nature stands in the forest clearing surrounded by the wildlife of his domain. He is the ruler of the forest and Lord of Beasts, a robust figure of authority, wisdom, and fertility. His power derives from his personal drive and leadership skills, but is tempered by his acceptance of the responsibilities that come with his position, for he is guardian of nature, the protector and nurturer of the natural cycles of life under his care. He also knows that he is part of of this cycle, and He willingly plays his role through the seasons as he perpetuates the nourishment of earth by his marriage to the Earth Mother at the summer solstice. He impregnates her, surrendering his virile energy to her care as he turns into his Sage aspect. Now, however, he is strong, aware of his partner, yet kind, gentle, and general with his abundance. The Horned God is honored as a benefactor and protector, yet he is also the Wild God of the Hunt, reflecting a time when hunting game was necessity for survival. Indeed, his image as the Hunter can be traced back through time to ancient cave paintings of the antlered and hide-robed shaman working his magic for a successful hunt. The Horned God is master of the woods is the master of the woods, the vegetation of the earth, and animal kingdom. He builds and rules his domain in all the wild places, yet he demonstrates the life cycle within the changing seasons. He is compassionate to the animals that live out their roles as prey and predator, game and vermin, each according to the nature of their kind, for he teaches that Divine Spirit dwells in al things. The Horned God reminds the hunter to offer blessings to the hunted with the understanding of the unity of all things in the ecosystems they inhabit, for what may be vermin to one may be sustenance for another.

Wild bergamot–representing authority, power, fertility, and energy, blooming with red brilliance, the color of blood–grows in profusion around the God. Ravens, symbolizing messages, guardianship, growth, and guidance, circle overhead while on of them whispers news of the world to the Horned God.

Meaning: Accomplishment, leadership, skills, responsibility, authority, personal power, stability, self-confidence, experienced, initiating plans, building projects, protecting what is created, fertility, satisfaction, husbandry.

Reversed: Bureaucratic, inflexible, indecisive, petty.

Prompt Words: Responsibility, builder

Numerology

From a purely mathematical perspective, the 9 stands apart.

Here’s why:

When you multiply any number by 9, then add the resulting digits and reduce them to a single digit, it always becomes a 9. For example, 6 x 9 = 54, reduce 54 to a single digit by adding them together: 5 + 4 = 9. Similarly, 8 x 9 = 72, and 7 + 2 = 9. Or 23 x 9 = 207, 2 + 0 + 7 = 9, and so forth.

There is nothing coincidental about this peculiarity.

Try it. Any number, no matter how large, multiplied by 9 reduces to 9. From a numerological perspective, the 9 simply takes over, like the infamous body snatchers. Any number that was initially increased by a factor of 9 loses its own identity and instead takes on the characteristics of the 9.

No other number has that quality.

A different, but no less distinctive attribute of the 9 happens when you add it to any other number, then reduce that number to a single digit. In this case, it always comes back to itself as if nothing was added at all – it doesn’t change anything from the initial single digit value.

For example, 5 + 9 = 14, 1 + 4 = 5. Or 7 + 9 = 16, 1 + 6 = 7. 24 (which reduces to 6) + 9 = 33, 3 + 3 = 6. Again, have some fun, try it on a bunch of numbers.

When multiplying, the 9 takes over, but when adding, the 9 does nothing.

For a math junkie like myself, this is beauty. It symbolically touches the core of the magic that underlies this creation. But enough about math, let’s look at the personality of this unique number.

The highest of the cardinal numbers, the 9 is the most worldly and sophisticated of all.

The 9 has similarities with the 6 – including its shape (turned upside down). However, where the 6 is a symbol of love and compassion directed to people close to them (friends, family, the local community), the 9 offers love and care to the world at large.

The 9, more than any other number, has global consciousness – a reservoir of giving with a generous downward spout.

The 9 lives in the world and understands the connection between all people. Individuals with this number are humanitarians who see no difference between their next-door neighbor and people from different cultures on the other side of the world. The 9 is the least judgmental of all numbers, the most tolerant and the most conscious.

The 9 is overwhelmingly loving and empathetic.

People often regard those with a strong 9 as majestic, graceful, and elevated, but closely connected with the rest of humankind. At the same time, they can be hard to reach, seem aloof, and tend to float above the small-minded issues that can be upsetting to others. People either love or loathe 9 individuals, but find it difficult to deny the respect they demand. 9s have impeccable taste, are talented, creative, and usually quite eloquent when they express themselves.

The 9 is called the “Mother Theresa” number because it doesn’t hesitate to rectify abuse. More importantly, it does not seek credit for giving assistance. Just as the number 9 added to another number does not force its way into the sum (the sum stays the same) – 9 individuals never force themselves upon others when trying to help.

When circumstances require, 9s can be a powerful force, strong enough to take over and bend others to their will (just as the number 9 does when used to multiply any other number, where it takes control). However, the 9 is not a leader in the same way the 1 and the 8 are; its influence comes from the higher realms of philosophy and justice. A 9 does not use force or cunning, they just change your mind!

Although they are generally selfless, a 9 is often prosperous. This contradiction helps illustrate the true nature of the 9. Where an 8 becomes financially successful by focusing on the potential reward from an undertaking, 9s earn financial reward by utterly ignoring the monetary potential of an endeavor, the exact opposite of the 8.

As for matters of the heart, the 9 is not particularly romantic.

The 9 can be a difficult romantic partner, not only because they are demanding, but because you never know to what extent you’ve managed to reach them emotionally. 9s tend to hide their hearts, so even after knowing them for many years, the connection can still seem a bit distant.

They are loyal friends but will not allow themselves to become vulnerable. The most telling attribute of the 9 is the always subtle, difficult to pinpoint feeling there is more to them than meets the eye. They carry depth and intuition, and are at all times aware of their surroundings, like a person with over-developed peripheral vision.

As with any number, the 9 has a dark side.

A 9 can be condescending, arrogant, cold, and apathetic towards the suffering of others. When the 9 shows its dark side, it is egotistic, cruel, immoral, and completely untouchable. Unfortunately, it is easy for a 9 to fall into the dark side. For example, if they perceive themselves to be the victim of an injustice, they can turn vindictive, unforgiving, and malicious.

When the 9 appears as a cycle, it often denotes a finality, the completion of an era.

The 9 as a cycle is frequently seen as an indicator of death. This is simplistic and incorrect. When you are in the 9th period of a cycle (such as the 9th year of a 9-year cycle), it suggests you are in the final stages of that period or endeavor. It’s a time to empty your bucket and prepare for change, let go of the past, wrap up loose ends, and make way for new opportunities.

In Personal Year cycles, the 9 is always followed by the 1; every time you go through that two-year phase (from one year to the next) you go through a transformation of some kind. Look at any period in your life when you went through a 9 Personal Year followed by a 1 Personal Year and you will find this to be true. Then, look at your Essence and Transit cycles to learn what the fundamental nature of that transformation was.

“Take some time out of your usual life and spend it in solitude.”

It ca be difficult these days to spend time in solitude–to unplug, get off the electronic grid, and find a quite place in or near Nature–yet it’s important to do so at this time. Turn off the phone, computer, and television, if only for a few hours. Although you may feel a little anxious and restless upon your first do so, these feelings will pass. Use the time for contemplation and meditation. It’s not isolation; it’s solitude. Solitude is a conscious and loving choice to be alone for a period of time, while isolation is a habitual and reflexive coping pattern to avoid discomfort and intimacy. If possible, take a full day by yourself, and just do whatever you feel like doing. Whatever length of time you spend in solitude, be sure to write as often as you can in your journal.

If you should feel guilty or anxious about the thought of doing this or even while you are actually doing it, use your breath to help you relax. As much as you possibly can during the period of alone time, remind yourself to breath and relax. Whenever you notice your breathing become shallow, take three or four deep breaths and watch your tensions and anxiety dissipate. Enjoy the feeling of having the sacred space of solitude surrounding you. And remember: You’re never really alone.

All aspects of the Six of Cups from thesecretofthetarot.com

Six/6 of Cups

In traditional tarot, the Six of Cups shows us two children wearing strange clothing and sharing between them a golden cup while five others sit near by.

The scene is bright and full of greenery. Compared to the rest of the Cup suit, the Six of Cups is lighthearted and fun.

The symbolism in this card directly relates to a time where we weren’t yet bogged down by the stress and emotional upheaval adult life tends to offer.

In some instances, it quite literally points to our childhoods. In others, it tells us that we are taking an innocent, playful approach to what life is throwing at us.

Sometimes the Six of Cups shows us that we aren’t taking parts of our lives seriously enough, though this warning is a welcoming change from the emotional turmoil its suit mates have the tendency to carry with them.

The Upright Meaning

While the Six of Cups is related to our childhood attitudes towards life, it almost never represents our childhoods in the past position.

You’re going to want to examine your more recent history to determine when you could have acted more mature towards the things life put in your path.

Your innocence in the past towards a life event is what has lead you to your current position.

If the Six of Cups appears in your current position, it means that you are living in the moment, and are able to enjoy it without consequence.

This happy-go-lucky attitude is working for you, so long as you are remembering to keep the rest of your life in order as well.

In the future position, the Six of Cups is a wonderful conclusion to your current situation. Despite what the other cards in your spread say, there are good days ahead.

This could mean a new relationship is on the horizon, or you’ll be taking your dream vacation. Whatever the case may be, your future is bright and full of joy.

Work

When reading for your career, the Six of Cups is telling you that now is the best time to let your creativity flow.

You have something unique to bring to the table, and are in a good position to approach a work related task from a different perspective.

If you are seeking work, look for a position that will allow you to have some flexibility and creative freedom.

Love

The Six of Cups in a relationship oriented spread means that you and your partner need to refocus on the future.

It’s saying that one or both of you have been stuck in the past, perhaps when the relationship was still new and exciting.

In order to maintain a healthy bond with each other, it’s time to put the past aside and work towards growing together.

If you are single, the Six of Cups is telling you not to dwell on relationships from the past.

If you’ve been considering rekindling the flames of an old relationship, remember that exes are exes for a reason.

Finances

Since the Six of Cups is so closely related to simpler times, it can be odd to see in a spread related to your cash flow.

What it means in this situation is that you are worrying too much about money, and not focusing enough on living your life.

It’s easy to get caught up in our adult responsibilities, but it’s important that we allow ourselves to have a little fun too.

If you have been interested in making an investment, look for something that speaks directly to your inner child.

Health

When it comes to your health, the Six of Cups is a sign that your physical ailments may be stemming from past emotional pains. Look back to your childhood for answers.

It’s a good idea to enlist the help of a therapist so that you can explore how events that happened when you were young could be affecting you today.

For peace of mind, it is also wise to speak with your family about your medical history.

Reversed Position

A reversed Six of Cups is a warning you cannot ignore. This means that you are still being affected by events from your past. It’s important to recognize the signs of lasting trauma, and to remind yourself that you can ask for help, even if you feel alone.

You must encourage yourself to deal with the past, not dwell on it, in order to move forward.

Rune

Hagalaz

Hagalaz is about destructive natural forces: earthquakes, storms, lightening, and all ways that the raw power of nature cannot be controlled. In this sense it is also associated with the unconscious mind, an energy which must be respected and cannot be successfully resisted. You might not be happy about the destructive force of hagalaz but it will bring an end to things and thus create space for something new. This is the cycle of karma.

Straif

The ogham symbol Straif has the phonetic value of St, and corresponds to the blackthorn or sloe tree, which is known for its magical power. Staves made from its wood were carried by wizards, warlocks, and witches.

In Irish sagas, the blackthorn has association with battle, sacrifice, transformation, and death. It’s also said to be sacred to Donn of the Milesians, the Irish god of death, as well as to goddess Morrighan who oversees matters of war and death.

I Ching

Hexagram Four/4

Moutain Above, Water Below

Be on guard for the careless or rebellious attitudes characteristic of inexperience. Just as a youth requires instruction, this is a good time to focus on learning lessons from a patient teacher or from life experience. Is there a circumstance in your life that you have failed to comprehend, perhaps because you didn’t appreciate its inherent complexities? Be respectful of anything or anyone who has something to teach you right now. If you are focusing on a relationship, ask yourself which of you is currently the student and which of you is the sage. If you are a parent ask yourself: Who is being the teacher – my child or me?

In order to be ready for challenging times, let education be an ongoing part of your life. Develop the necessary mind-set and willpower to carry you through confusing times. The wise realize that experience – especially difficult experience- is a most powerful teacher. But we cannot be forced to learn, even from experience. Be the humble student who delights in learning, the one who nourishes an expanding awareness.

Examine your attitude for factors that would limit your openness. Observe how you deal with the mistakes of others. Let people live their own lives and learn their own lessons. You may offer them your wisdom or advice, but do so only if they are receptive. Give up trying to convince others that you are right, as it is both exhausting and counterproductive. Instead, all other to proceed, even into difficult or dangerous circumstances. It may be the only way they can learn; and without learning, no one can achive success. Care without forcing attention; trying to take care of someone who is unwilling can actually be harmful. Live and let learn.

Divination Through Tea Leaves c. 2018

Divination Through Tea Leaves

Predicting by using tealeaves was in the 19th century in Europe quite popular, but nowadays it is hardly practiced. Not, because the techniques were that extremely difficult, but much more because almost everyone uses teabags in stead of just unpacked tealeaves. That causes, that no leaves are left in the cup after drinking.

So if you feel invited to this prediction method, the first thing to do is drinking tea at that ‘old-fashioned’ way. You need for each cup one teaspoon with tea and one extra for the teapot. You’ll notice it tastes nice, but if you plan to use it too for prediction, I suggest the use of white cups, because it gives a better background for the dark leaves. Each person in your ‘tea session’ who wants to hear something about their personal future, should leave a little liquid behind in their cup. This is stirred to let the leaves floating in stead lying quiet on the bottom of the cup. Immediately after that is done, the liquid part is carefully poured out. By doing this, the tealeaves stick behind on the inside and the bottom of the cup.

Than comes the moment for you to fix a strong and deep concentration on those tealeaves. Close your eyes halfway and give your powers of imagination ‘free way’. Try to discover in these tealeaves a known picture, i.e. a book, an axe, trees, a hat, etc…etc… The following step is the interpretation of that discovered picture. You can use for that the next explanations:

Anchor:
A journey, at the end of that trip happiness.

Arrow:
Luck in love affair(s).

Axe:
(A pickax or a saw is also possible)
Be warned to deal carefully with your money and your emotions.

Balloon:
(Also a non-army airplane):
An unexpected promotion, going for the better or inheritance.

Bird:
See: flag.

Book:
Ask advice before going further going on in things your are (or are going to be) involved.

Bottle:
Your social activities will increase.

Bow:
There will come a meeting or a date that is important for your further life.

Butterfly:
Your partner/spouse/life mate takes your affair not as serious as is essential/ necessary in your view.

Chain:
In a certain activities in your professions you should give more and better efforts.

Clock or watch:
An important meeting will happen.

Crown:
Promotion.

Cross:
Big tough luck. If you can see a second picture in the leaves, than that can give more details on the area that is involved.

Dice:
Avoid risks.

Doorbell:
You may expect good news.

Envelope:
Good news is coming.

Fish:
You will get unbelievable news from far away.

Flag:
Your level of prosperity will increase.

Foot:
Expected good news will not come.

Gate or door:
An unexpected change in your personal circumstances.

Hammer:
You should make more efforts to give your best.

Harp or harpsichord:
Prosperity and luck will become yours.

Hat:
You have to go through some touch luck.

Heart:
You will get emotional excitement.

Key:
You will get a better understanding about certain things that are unclear to you now.

Knife:
You’ll get a quarrel or even a row.

Ladder (Household):
Improvement.

Moon (Waxing):
A little profit will become yours.

Ring:
A lot of non-material luck/happiness.

Rocks:
In short time you will get some problems. (Not very big).

Roof:
At home with you something will change.

Scales:
You should improve your dealing with weighting advantages and disadvantages. Things have more than one side.

Ship:
A journey will bring luck and happiness.

Street:
(Two tealeaves straight between each other):
Business in which you are involved will go well.
(Two tealeaves not straight between each other):
Business in which you are involved will not turn out well.

Trees:
Everything will bloom.

Such a picture that is close to the edge of the teacup points to a time period from three till six weeks on the things that are predicted. If the picture is on the bottom it means a time period of at least two years before that prediction will happen. In the middle of the inside means about a year.

By training and experience you will become able to interpret more pictures as are described here.

Don’t forget: as with every prediction method, it will only work as it’s fully implemented in yourself. The fewest doubt will make that your efforts to predict will fail. (The ‘client’ need not believe that).

Tinne or Teine

T stands for Tinne, or Teine, the Holly tree. This evergreen plant is connected to immortality, unity, courage, and the stability of hearth and home. Pronounced chihnn-uh by the Celts, the wood of the Holly was often used in the construction of weapons, and is known as a plant of warriors and protectors.

In the pre-Christian British Isles, the Holly was often associated with protection–planting a hedge around your home would keep malevolent spirits out, thanks in no small part to the sharp spikes on the leaves. In Celtic myth, the concept of the Holly King and the Oak King symbolizes the changing of the seasons, and the transition of the earth from the growing time to the dying season.

When Christianity moved into the Celtic lands, the new religion associated the Holly plant with the story of Jesus. The poky spikes on the leaves represent the crown of thorns worn by Jesus on the cross, and the bright red berries symbolize his blood.

Tinne Correspondences

Mundane Aspects: Hang a sprig of Holly in your home to protect your family in your absence. Soak the leaves in spring water under a full moon, and then use the water as a blessing for people or items you wish to protect. There is strength to be found in standing together, and ultimately protection comes from honor and trust.

Magical Aspects: Develop the ability to respond quickly and wisely to your intuition. Learn to overcome and adapt to new situations, and to respond immediately to changes in your spiritual environment. Trust your instinct, but don’t let your heart rule over your head.

Hexagram Five/5

Water Over Heaven Also called “Patience

Changing Lines in Hexagram #5

The lesson of hexagram number 5 is that good things come to those who wait. Patience requires both inner strength and a commitment to resist the temptation of acting prematurely. Often hardships will arise in the course of one’s time spent waiting. The message here is that those who endure these hardships, and “cross great streams” will emerge victorious. Do not be put off your path at this time.

(Side Note: Hexagram lines start at the bottom of the hexageram)

Changes in Line 1

“Waiting at the Field”

Patience is best exercised from a proper vantage point. Consider placing oneself in a position from where one can watch approaching events at a distance. Do not alter your daily routine, because there is much in it that will help you when events move more quickly.

Changes in Line 2

“Waiting by the Sea”

During tests of patience, it is easy to assume the worst. Such assumptions cause undue panic and grief and reduce one’s ability to think clearly and rationally. Remember that with patience comes perseverance. Do not be swayed by unwarranted fears of failure.

Changes in Line 3

“Waiting in the Marsh”

While waiting for events to happen, it is important to remain ready for action. Changes in this line represent a warning that things are not “at the ready” and your response may be too slow when the situation calls for action.

Changes in Line 4

“Waiting by Blood”

Changes in this line are a serious warning that you are not prepared for action that will soon be required of you. It is foolish to remain trapped in a position of weakness. You must urgently “climb out of the pit” you are in, and get yourself to a place where you are capable of action and change.

Changes in Line 5

“Waiting at the Feast”

Your perseverance brings good fortune, but the ultimate achievement still lies ahead. It is important to rest along the way. Enjoy the good things that life has to offer. You will need the strength for the challenge that still lies ahead.

Changes in Line 6

“Falling Down. / Visitors Arrive.”

There are two messages represented by this changing line: The first is a stern message that a serious failure is imminent. You stand at the edge of a pit, and it is quite sure that you will fall. The second message is more unusual: During your fall, “uninvited guests” will arrive. Treat them all well. For they are part of a larger plan that will help you immeasurably.

The Two Trigrams Within Hexagram #5

Hexagram #5 is structured out of two 3-line trigrams layered on top of one another.

The lower three lines of hexagram #5 make up the trigram for Heaven.

The top three lines make up the trigram for Water.

Hexagram #5’s Lower Trigram of Heaven

The supreme trigram of Heaven is also sometimes known as the the Creative. It is a trigram of unadulterated, perfect creative force. The trigram for Heaven is a representation of pure truth and power. The trigram may also point to a father figure — or the direction of the northwest.

Hexagram #5’s Upper Trigram of Water

The fluid and forever-changing trigram of water is also sometimes called the trigram of the ‘Gorge’ or of the ‘Abysmal’. The water trigram is associated with the moon’s cycles and with the direction north.

Dragonfly

Dragonfly Totem – The Spiritual Meaning

Dragonfly Spirit Animal is an important animal totem in many cultures. To most of Europe, they represent evil. No doubt due to the nasty bite they deliver should you offend him. Japanese people love the dragonfly totem. The Navajo of the Native Americans recognizes them as a symbol of pure water and swiftness and activity.

Certainly, it is worth noting that the dragonfly starts their lives in nymph form. They then become the more familiar form that flies through the air later in their lives.

Dragonfly Associated Traits

Transformation, adaptability, lightness, joy, emotions, hidden self, purity, speed, wisdom, and enlightenment.

Does the Dragonfly Spirit Animal Signify Good Luck?

The Dragonfly totem signifies that soon things will work out for the better in your life. You will be free to do the things that you bring you joy. Do not allow any challenges to put you down because you are better than that. Always want the best for yourself and the people in your life.

This animal totem wants you to express free will in everything you do. Do not hold yourself back from achieving your highest potential. The meaning of the Dragonfly emphasizes the need to be true to yourself. Never live a dishonest life if you want to make great things manifest in your life.

Always express your true feelings, and you will live a great life. Do not listen to people that tell you that you cannot make it. You have all that it takes to change your life for the better and live positively. The Dragonfly is an ally you need to have in your corner. This animal totem will enable you to get rid of all the negatives in your life.

Dragonfly Animal Totem Meaning

Dragonfly spirit animal is a symbolic creature of two realms. It symbolizes the emotional realm of water and the intellectual realm of air. Therefore, Dragonfly totem animal carries two Karmic lessons for us.

The first lesson is that of water, calling us to celebrate our joy and emotions. Similarly, it tells us to live in them with great passion and depth. The lesson of air calls us to temper them with emotion and bring them into balance. Dragonfly dances on the winds of change, comfortable in his ever-changing environment.

So what does it mean if you see a dragonfly? Well, it is a powerful lesson. Unlike rat, which adapts to the situation while remaining Rat, Dragonfly totem reminds us that life is ever-changing. Also, it shows that it will sometimes call on us to change as well. As such, the transformation of Dragonfly can call for complete metamorphosis.

As such, if a Dragonfly visits you, it is a call for a great period of change in your life. It is a reminder that old habits are haunting your decisions. Come out of your Nymph stage. Ideally, it may not be time to grow up, but it’s time to change who and what we are.

Know also that Dragonfly as a spirit guide has great vision. The time may come when the mists that hang over the deep waters of life are almost more than you can navigate.

The mists hide everything, disguise what we know, and make it difficult to see our clear path. As the Dragonfly meaning suggests, it understands these waters. It has lived its whole life in these waters, so let it guide you.

Love and The Dragonfly Spirit Animal

Dragonfly animal totem is more in touch with your emotional state. It is a sign that you need to prepare your heart to receive love. You need love in your life if you want to live wholly, peacefully, and happily. Reveal your true self to the world if you want to attract the right kinds of romantic energies.

Do not focus much on the things that happened to you in the past. Forget about past hurts and open yourself up to receiving the right kind of love. With the Dragonfly power animal, you do not need to pretend to be someone you are not. Be your genuine self, and the right kind of love will eventually come your way.

Dragonfly symbolism reveals that you can be ready to go through great metamorphosis when it comes to heart matters. Do not hold yourself back from going after the things that make you happy.

Positive and Negative Traits of the Dragonfly Totem

You should be proud of the trait of the Dragonfly totem that brings out your compassionate side. Always be compassionate and kind to the people around you. Show them love and do all that you can to help where possible. You possess a kind heart; therefore, you are incapable of turning a blind eye on people in need.

You are a great inspiration to people who want to grow spiritually. Help such people stay on the right spiritual path and always lift them up when they stumble and fall. The Dragonfly is light and free, and so are you. Always bounce back amid challenges and reclaim your life.

The Dragonfly meaning on the negative side means being too attached and feeling too deeply to the extent that you hurt yourself. It is good that you are connected to your emotions, but you should not let them control you.

Dragonfly Spirit Animal: Conclusion

Seeing Dragonfly totem is a sign that you need to have a new perspective in life. Do the things that make you happy and change your life for the better. Always be willing to make the best out of your life. Challenges will come and go, but you should remain strong and steadfast. Get out of your comfort zone and have new experiences in life.

Look at the bigger picture in life and focus on becoming great. You are great, and know that you possess great talents and gifts that will enable you to create the life you want. Look to the spiritual meaning of the Dragonfly to take off the blinders in your life.

Coll

C, sometimes read as K, is Coll, which is the Hazel tree. August is known as the Hazel Moon, because this is when Hazel nuts appear on the trees–the world Coll translates to “the life force inside you”, and what better symbol of life than the nut itself? Hazel is associated with wisdom and creativity and knowledge. Sometimes it is connected in Celtic lore with magical springs, sacred wells, and divination.

Hazel was a handy tree to have around. It was used by many English pilgrims to make staffs for use upon the road–not only was it a sturdy walking stick, it also provided a modicum of self-defense for weary travelers. Certainly, it could have been used as well for ritual. Hazel was used in weaving of baskets by medieval folk, and the leaves were fed to cattle because it was believed this would increase the cow’s supply of milk.

In the Irish myth cycles, there is a tale that nine hazel nuts dropped into a sacred pool. A salmon came along in the pool and gobbled up the nuts, which then imbued him with wisdom. A variation of the story appears in the legend of Finn Mac Cumhail, who ate the salmon and then took on the knowledge and wisdom of the fish. Note that Mac Cumhail is often translated as Mac Coll.
