Daily OM for September 27 – One Day at a Time

One Day at a Time

Stepping Stones

by  Madisyn Taylor

Taking one step at a time makes life much easier to navigate rather than always looking at the big picture.

The years of our life do not arrive all at once; they greet us day by day. With the descent of each setting sun, we are able to rest our heads and let the world take care of itself for a while. We may rest assured throughout the night, knowing that the dawn will bring with it a chance to meet our lives anew, donning fresh perspectives and dream-inspired hopes. The hours that follow, before we return to sleep once more, are for us to decide how we want to live and learn, laugh and grow. Our lives are sweeter and more manageable because we must experience them this way: one day at a time.

Imagine the future stretching out before you and try to notice if you feel any tension or overwhelm at the prospect of the journey still to come. Perhaps you have recently made a lifestyle change, like beginning a new diet or quitting smoking, and the idea of continuing this healthy new behavior for years seems daunting. Maybe you have started a new job or are newly married and can feel an undercurrent of anxiety about your ability to succeed. If you can shift your focus from what may happen years down the line and return it to the day that is before you right now, you may find a measure of calm and renewed confidence in your capabilities. You may also discover an inner faith that the future will take care of itself.

The way we show up for our lives today and tomorrow has an enormous affect on who we will be and what we will be experiencing years from now. If we can remain fully engaged in the day at hand, enjoying all it has to offer and putting our energy into making the most of it, we will find that we are perfectly ready and capable to handle any future when it arrives.

Raising the Power

Raising the Power

This technique is similar to that used when you prepare your sacred space for magical working and employs the four Elements as a basis. Brass, was, and is, considered to be a conductor of subtle energies.

Items You Will Need:

  • White candle
  • Brass candlestick
  • Bowl filled with water
  • Sea salt in suitable container
  • Wand

The Spell:

  • Place the candle in the candlestick and light it.
  •   Dip your hands in the water then, without drying them, in the salt. Rub your hands together lightly until they feel slightly warm.
  •   Pick up your wand in your most powerful hand and touch the tip lightly to the brass candlestick. Then place the tip of the wand in your other hand, thus completing a circuit.
  •   Sit quietly and contemplate the candle, allowing energies to flow through you until such times as you either feel a change in energy within yourself or sense that you have no further need to continue. You may then use the energy that you have generated to meditate, heal or care for others

The Shadow Spell

The Shadow Spell

Items You Will Need:

  • Small, smooth stone
  • Two Candles

The Spell:

This spell is used to allow one to move or travel about relatively unnoticed. Care should of course be taken not to unnecessarily draw attention to ones self and thereby break the spell.  This spell need be prepared in advance. A small, smooth stone should be acquired. The stone should be of minimal size so as to be easily carried on one’s person without toil.  The spell must be worked in the dark and two candles need be lighted and placed on a flat surface such as a tabletop. The stone should be placed on the surface between them.  Repeat this incantation:

”Stone cold, without light  Hold the shadow of the night  Carry it through light of day  Out of sight and out of way”

Extinguish the candle on your left. Repeat this incantation:

”Stone of earth, stone of shade  Into thee this spell be made  That no eye may notice me  Whilst traveling to wander free”

Extinguish the candle on your right. You should now be in total darkness. Pick up the stone and whilst holding it in both your hands, repeat the following invocation:

”Spirits of the night  Lords of the shadows  Guide my path  Envelope me in thine cloak of darkness  And let this spell be done.”

Today’s Affirmation, Thought & Meditation for August 29

Today’s Affirmation for August 29

Like a tree I stand, reaching for the light, gaining strength from the darkness at my roots. My body is twisted by the storms of life, yet in my uniqueness I am beautiful.

Today’s Thought for August 29

“Don’t go outside to see the flowers. Inside your body there are many flowers. One flower has a thousand petals, and that will do for a place to sit. Sitting there you can glimpse the beauty inside the body and out of it, before gardens and after gardens.”

Today’s Meditation for August 29

Be Your Own Best Friend

We often judge ourselves much more harshly than we judge our friends.  Yet when we are loving toward ourselves, we flower into the essentially compassionate beings that we really are. Close your eyes and imagine that you are your own best friend – a warm, caring person who sees you and thinks of you in a loving and supportive way. Acknowledge your good qualities to yourself and praise your recent successes, no matter how small. To finish, give yourself a hug. Enjoy the feeling of being truly loved for who you are.

Phallogia

Color: Flesh
Elements: Fire and Earth
Altar: Upon a cloth the color of rosy flesh, place seven phallus-shaped candles of different colors, a tall glass of frothy white liquid, and many carved and shaped phalluses of many different materials, sizes and colors. There should be as many as there are people in the House. Have also baskets of phallus-shaped breads and pastries.
Offering: Take a phallus with you to bed, and sleep with it, warming it with your body.
Daily Meal: Phallic foods – long breads and pastries, long root vegetables, sausages.

Phallogia Invocation

As the trees stretch toward the Sun,
As the leaves burst forth on the branch,
As the grass thrusts to the sky,
As the pod explodes its seeds,
As the stamen lifts its pollen,
As the bird leaps for the heavens,
As the mountains heave toward the clouds,
As the lightning strikes the ocean,
As the wave swells forth toward the shore,
As the wind penetrates our lungs,
We honor today the leaping forth
Of the male principle,
And its symbol carved in flesh
And in many other places.
Hail, Priapus, Giver of Fertility,
Source of the Seeds of Life.
May we all share your boundless enthusiasm,
Your untamed vigor,
And your ecstasy as you wither and fall.

(Each should approach the altar and select one of the phalluses, which should then be taken to their bed and tucked in. Tonight, each will sleep with the phallus, warming it with their bodies, and they shall be returned to the altar the following morning upon sunrise.)

Free of Past Pain Spell

Free of Past Pain Spell

Items You Will Need:

  • 1 green candle
  • 1 blue candle
  • 1 white candle
  • Paper
  • Pen/pencil
  • 1 black ribbon

The Spell:

Light the candles and write on the paper all the pains of your past that still bother you. Roll up the paper and tie it off with the black ribbon. Chant;

”The past has no power over me. I release the pain, I am free.”

Burn the paper and the ribbon over the flames of all three candles and before the fire reaches your hand cast the paper onto the ground. The moment you feel heat the paper should be cast down. Let the fire burn out on it’s own, but keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t spread to other things.   I suggest casting this spell on dirt or gravel so as not to start a wild fire.

Spell to Restore Peace to an Unhappy Home

g.. Light the Yellow-Green Candle (for Anger, and Jealousy and Discord).
h.. Say, ”Here burns away all negative emotions from and , leaving only love and happiness.
It is in our house; it is all about us.
There is tranquility in our home.
Peace and love abound and are with us.
For true happiness now is known.
Understanding and love are there in abundance;
discord and chaos are fled.

r.. Move the Astral candles even closer to each other.
s.. Hug and kiss each other and call out ”Hurrah” or other such words expressing joy and relief and victory.
t.. Then extinguish the Votive Candle, and then the Astral and Day candles.

Note: The spell is even more powerful if it is repeated on 3 consecutive days, with different day candles, and letting the Astral candles touch each other only at the third incantation on the third day. There is no need to write down the problems on the second or third day. However, the spell may be only performed once, in which case, the Astral candles should touch other at the third incantation. The ashes of the ”problem paper” can be gleefully flushed down the toilet.

Meditation to Meet Your Fire Guide

Meditation to Meet Your Fire Guide

Create a simple altar with an orange cloth and a red candle. Use an amber- or wood-scented incense. Take several deep, cleansing breaths. Get comfortable. Focus on your breathing and close your eyes. Visualize the gateway to the elemental realm of fire. Make the gate as strong and elaborate as you wish. How does it open? Take several slow, deep breaths. See the gate open and walk through it. Everything is dark. Before you is a pathway illuminated with candles on each side. It is a broad, safe pathway. Begin to walk down it. Slowly stars become visible in the dark sky. Take a moment to appreciate the twinkling lights. Focus on the candle flames and note that no two candles are exactly alike. They dance in various colors on the tips of the candles. You feel warm, safe and happy. Focus on your breath. Further on down the path you see your elemental guide for the realm of fire. Approach him slowly and greet him warmly. Listen to what he has to say. When you have heard all you wish, thank him and then turn to go back up the path. As your approach the gateway you notice it is still open. Walk through it. Take several slow deep breaths and then open your eyes. Write down all you learned in your journal. Close your personal circle.

Lighten Up – Thoughts to Ponder

Points to ponder

Does a clean house indicate that there is a broken computer in it?

Why is it that no matter what color of bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Why doesn’t toothpaste ever go rotten?

On electric toasters why do they engrave the message ‘one slice’?
How many pieces of bread do they think people are really gonna try to stuff in that slot?

How come when you first pull the drapery cord the drapes always move the wrong way?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner reach down pick it up examine it then put it down to give their vacuum one more chance? “true”

How do those dead bugs get into closed light fixtures?

Why do we wash BATH towels? Aren’t we clean when we use them?
If not then what was the purpose of the bath?

Considering all the lint you get in your dryer, if you kept drying your clothes would they eventually just disappear?

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that’s falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come we never hear any father-in-law jokes?

Lighten Up – The Candles Are Blowin’ Out Again

The Candles Are Blowin’ Out Again

Words: Liam Cyfrin Music: Blowing in the Wind by Bob Dylan

How many robes can a Witch ignite While dancing too close to the flame? How many words from the Grimm Brothers’ tales Can you really expect to “reclaim”? And how many chants fall as flat as a tack When you mispronounce each Sacred Name?

Chorus:    The candles, my friend, are blowin’ out again.    The candles are blowin’ out again.

How many times can the incense go wild And firemen break down your door? How many times can athames get dropped And spear peoples’ feet to the floor? Yes, and how many times can you brandish your wand And whack the HP on the jaw?

Chorus

How many years can you do the same rite And still get the words mostly wrong? And how many spells of “Hereditary Craft” Quote verses from Erica Jong? And how many times can your Sabbat Great Rite Last less than a half minute long?

Chorus

Returning A Hex

Returning A Hex

You will need:
3 black candles and a mirror

This spell should be performed during the full moon, near a window, preferably one facing the home of the person who hexed you, if you know who they are.

Light the three candles, which should be placed in a triangle so that one is on either side of the mirror, and one is behind it (facing you). Place the mirror between you and the window, so the mirror surface is toward the window. Place your palms down flat on the table. Hold your back straight, and, with closed eyes, imagine a blue stream of energy coming from the moon, through the window, into your body. Hold the energy in you until you can feel it in your fingertips and toes. Then open your eyes quickly and release the energy seeing
it flow rapidly out of you and into the mirror.

Say:
“All evil sent to me
Reflected now will be
Three times three
So mote it be!”

See the energy flowing to fill the mirror. Visualize any negativity coming in the window bounding off and returning to the sender.

Daily OM for August 2nd – Trees and People

Trees and People

Children of Mother Nature

by Madisyn Taylor

We can be more like trees opening our crown to the Universe and rooting down deep with our feet into mother earth.
A tree that is beginning to grow sends roots down into Mother Earth even as it reaches and opens to the sky above, seeking nourishment from the sun and the moisture in the air and in the rain that falls. In the same way, we can envision ourselves as treelike beings, imagining that we have roots reaching down into the earth, energetic strands that keep us connected. At the same time, the crowns of our heads lift and open to receive nourishment from above. Just like a tree, we seek the sunshine and water we need to survive and thrive. Both trees and people serve as conduits for the intermingling of the opposite and complementary elements of air, water, sun, and earth.

We also share creative ways of growing, regardless of the challenges we come up against in our environments. Trees will even grow through rock, shattering it, in their effort to reach the air and light they need to survive. We are similarly resilient, with a built-in propensity for growth and the conditions that promote it. We find creative ways around the obstacles we confront as we move along our paths, moving toward the light that feeds us, just as trees grow around other trees and rocks as they make their way upward.

Contemplating the ways in which trees and people mirror one another brings us into alignment with the reality that we are part of Mother Nature. Our children, and the trees and their children, will live together on the earth as long as we all survive, sharing the elements and serving together to forward nature’s plan. Walking in a forest can be a meditation, the interweaving lives of all living creatures and the planet on which we all take root and reach for the sky

Invocation to the Green Man of the Spindle Tree

Hail, Green Man of the Summer!
Spindle tree of the craftsman’s pride,
You who have been carved and sectioned
Into spools, wands, and many other things,
You who pride yourself on being useful,
Guide our hands as we turn
Things of nature into things of use.
Show us the beauty in pure function
And in pure service,
In the comfort that comes
Of being a worthy tool
And a well-worked object.
Remind us of the satisfaction
In the creation of some new thing
That will please the hands
Of many generations to come.
We hail you, sacred spindle tree,
Green Man of the Summer,
On this your day of labor.

Song: Fashioned in the Clay by Elmer Beal

(Each comes forward and plants a seed in the pot of soil, saying, “Hail Green Man of the Earth!” Water is poured onto the pot, and then the rest is poured out as a libation. Ring bell and dismiss.)

Hey Y’all! How Ya’ Doing This Super, Fine Saturday Morning!

Hello Images, Quotes, Comments, Graphics

Good morning, my sweets! How are y’all doing this fine Saturday morn? I hope fantastic. I apologize about yesterday. I had some business I had to take care of. Then I had a lot of yard work to get done. As you know it has been in the 100’s around here and you just don’t feel like doing yard work in that weather.

This morning, I am running late because it is Saturday. No, not because I was sleeping late like most people. But because in Kentucky on Saturdays’ is our bath day, lol! Oh, my Goddess, I can feel the hexes coming now! Seriously though, I don’t know how it is in your neck of the woods. I grew up with the old saying, “Saturday is bath day because we’re going to town, Yippee!” Seriously! I can remember us going to town once a week, maybe? And it was a treat to go to town. I remember my father and I going to Kresggee’s (I know that isn’t spelled right). But it was a local variety store, it also had a café section in it. Momma would go shopping and daddy and I would hit the counter at the café part. They had the best strawberry pies in town. We would get us a piece and then daddy would  order one to take home. Which always started a fight! Momma would get mad because she would ask daddy, “if her cooking wasn’t good enough for him?” When I was a child I didn’t think a thing about these days. Now that I have grown up, I miss my mother and father. But I have memories, good memories, that will last a lifetime.

Oh, back to the shower ready quick. I wanted to show you why it takes me so long to take a shower these days.

Yep, this is the reason, Razzy! She doesn’t realize she isn’t suppose to like water. And, everywhere her mother goes, she thinks she is suppose to go too. It is a fight, trying to shower and then having to keep pushing her out of the shower, gee wiz!  But I was snapping photos the other day and caught her doing what she does best, prowling!!! I thought I would show you how my little baby has grown. Little, really doesn’t apply to her anymore!

Anyway, enough with the small talk, I hope you have a fantastic weekend, my friends. Be safe as always and much love…..

This is one of my favorite Irish blessings 🙂

“May those who love us, love us;

and those who don’t love us, may

God turn their hearts; and if He

doesn’t turn their hearts, may he

turn their ankles so we’ll know

them by their limping.”

7 Ways to Make Your Living Space Smell Nice

7 Ways to Make Your Living Space Smell Nice

by Megan, selected from Intent.com

Rather than spraying chemical-laden air fresheners, choose one of these seven  natural ways to make your living space smell a little nicer.

1. Invest in houseplants. Have your favorite plants and  herbs growing in your kitchen, living room and bathroom in small pots. The  presence of green plants will help reduce indoor air pollution and keep clean  air circulating in your space.

2. Save your citrus fruit skins. Save the peels of oranges,  lemons, limes and other citrus- fruits. You can place them in boiling water to  have a fresh scent in the kitchen, or run them in your garbage disposal with  boiling water. Lastly, put some citrus skins in your vacuum bag the next time  you vacuum your carpet.

3. Dilute essential oil with water in a spray bottle. You  can spray your furniture and carpet to make the whole room smell a specific  scent. To diversify, you can have different scents for different areas of your  home. For example: lavender for the living room, sandalwood for your bedroom and  peppermint for the bathroom.

4. Place bowls of white vinegar in corners of the room. The  vinegar will neutralize and absorb any offending odors.

5. Place fabric softener in your shoes and closet. It will  take away any stale clothing smells. For another closet air freshener, place a  cedar block at the bottom of your closet. Use sandpaper for a new layer once a  year.

6. Light soy candles instead of regular candles. Soy candles  are longer-lasting, better for the environment and have a more robust smell.  (They are also safer than carcinogen-emitting candles.)

7. Bake bread or cook your own meals. Few things are as  welcoming as the smell of freshly baked bread or the herbs of a home-cooked  dinner.

Hela’s Day

Colors: Black and White
Elements: Earth and Air
Altar: Upon black cloth to the right place four black candles, a skull, bones, a pot of earth, a pile of withered leaves, and a gravestone. Upon white cloth to the left place four white candles, incense, an ivory chalice of mead, a crystal sphere, and a bunch of dried roses. Veil the windows.
Offerings: Blood. Pain. Difficulty. Toil. An arduous task that will take all you have to give, and will benefit the generations yet to come.
Daily Meal: Meat stew and bread.

Invocation to Hela

Hail to Hel
Queen of Helheim
Wisest of Wights
Keeper of Secrets
Keeper of the hopes for tomorrow
Guardian of Souls
Implacable one of the frozen realm
Half the face of beauty
Half the face of Death.
You who feed the dead
At your meager table
Where everyone gets their fair share,
You who care not
About wealth or status,
About fame or fortune,
Who cares for the peasant
Equally with the ruler,
Teach us that Death is the great leveller
And that we need have no pride
When we reach your halls.
Lady who takes away
Yet holds always promise,
Teach us to praise loss and death
And the passing of all things,
For from this flux
We know your blessings flow.

(Blow out the candles, bow to the altar, and pour out the libation of mead. The roses should be placed outside to rot in the garden.)

Candles As Tools of Magick

CANDLES AS TOOLS OF MAGICK

Select four candles in colors representing the four elements.  Try using red for

Fire, green for Earth, blue for Water and yellow for Air. Anoint the candles

with oil.  Decide on your goal or request and which candle is best for

represents the need.  (ie money, business, material objects, grounding matters

would be Earth.  Matters of sex, breaking habits, purification, protection,

strength would be Fire.  Matters of love, psychic awareness, healing,

friendships, beauty, spirituality, meditation would be Water.  Matters of

movement, travel, communication, teachings would be Air.)  Place three candles

in a triangle and put the assigned candle in the center.

Meditate on your desire as you light all four candles.  Visualize the outcome,

concentrating carefully on that which you wish to happen. Let all candles burn

go out by themselves.

For best results, do this candle burning during the hour of the day that will

aide you and during the correct Moon phases.  The Waning Moon is good for

banishing, the Waxing will help things grow.

Above all use extreme care when doing ANY form of Magick that entails the use of Fire.
