Laugh of the Day for Dec. 26th – ‘There was life before the computer’

There was life before the computer

An application was for employment
A program was a TV show
A cursor used profanity
A keyboard was a piano!

Memory was something that you lost with age
A CD was a bank account!
And if you had a broken disk,
It would hurt when you found out!

Compress was something you did to garbage
Not something you did to a file
And if you unzipped anything in public
You’d be in jail for awhile!

Log on was adding wood to a fire
Hard drive was a long trip on the road
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived
And a backup happened to your commode!

Cut–you did with a pocket knife
Paste you did with glue
A web was a spider’s home
And a virus was the flu!

I guess I’ll stick to my pad and paper
And the memory in my head
I hear nobody’s been killed in a computer crash
But when it happens they wish they were dead!

A fisherman can cast the line, but he can only wait for the fish to bite. Your catch will come in its own time; you cannot make it hurry to you — neither by working, nor by planning, nor by wishing. You may need to provide nourishment or support for others; but only through patience can you become the bridge between the fickle fish and the eventual feast. Strength in a time of trial waits quietly, resolutely. Weakness grows agitated, and abandons the effort before the fish bites. Periods of waiting are most fruitful when used for quiet contemplation.

Proceed cautiously, but resolutely, with whatever you are doing. The time and situation are calling for consistency and patience. Waiting is an essential skill; patience is a powerful force. Good timing is an ally of those with inner strength — the kind of strength that allows you to be uncompromisingly honest with yourself, while sticking to the path you have charted. If you persevere with a positive attitude, time weakens even the hardest obstacles. To rush anything, or impatiently force results, stimulates resistance and causes setbacks. At best, you achieve surface changes — the kind that can just as quickly be reversed. Steadfast waiting — while holding to your integrity leads to slow but permanent improvements. In the end, you accomplish something great. Practice patience.

Life As The Witch – Water Magick for Winter

Witchy Comments=~Magickal Graphics~

Water Magick for Winter

A new cycle of time begins. The cold deepens and want is transformed into its solid states–snow and ice. Winter has been  a period of wonder and questioning since first woman and man walked our planet. And why not? To our early ancestors, the appearance of snow and ice must have been magickal. In cold climates, snow and ice still create a feeling of magick and mystery. Water magick for winter should deal with transformation, getting rid of negativity, and healing. If you live in warm climates, substitute crushed ice for snow to perform the following rituals.

To transform a difficult situation into a positive on, write the problem on a piece of paper and place it in a bowl. On top place some fresh clean snow and  a drop of honey. Let the snow melt. Pour the melted snow down the drain and discard the paper.

To rid yourself of any habit or problem, try this. Write the problem on a piece of paper and rub the paper with cool ashes or soot. Crumple the paper, go outside, and make a snowball with the paper in the center. Place the snowball on the ground. If possible, trace a circle around the snowball using an icicle, crush the snowball with your foot, and then walk away.

Winter water magick doesn’t mean you only need to use snow or ice. This is also a good time to take a healing bath. Run a warm bath and use your favorite bubble bath. As the water is running, pour in a quarter cup of orange flower water. Orange flower water is a fragrant water made by distilling water through orange flower petals.

You may purchase bottles of it at Middle Eastern food stores, or at a health food stores. The scent of your bath should be heavenly, and the orange fragrance should give you a sense of well-being. Immerse yourself in this healing bath. Feel all tension and stress leaving your body.

Our urge to enjoy the wonders and magick of water is as ancient as the human race. Water is always the same, but forever changing. The water you see today in a river will be different tomorrow, because water is always flowing, always moving. And, water magick is our to enjoy at anytime of the year.

The Witches Spell for December 26th: For Guests That Have Over-stayed Their Welcome

Witchy Comments~Magickal Graphics~

The Witches Spell for December 26th

For Guests That Have Over-stayed Their Welcome

If you want company to leave, or you have a guest that has over stayed their welcome in your home do this:

Take a broom (a magickal broom is the best to you, if you don’t want to look too suspicious use a kitchen broom) and sweep from the back of the house, to the front. You don’t have to actually sweep, however, you must think of your unwelcome guest to find their way out the door….

When you reach the front door, open it – reflect for a moment on your wish – and make a final sweep out the door, saying:

“You were welcome once, your stay has ended – may you find your way peacefully, no harm intended!”

Leave the broom in the corner of the door, with the bristles facing up – they will leave in no time!

Lucky Hand Root Money Spell

LUCKY HAND ROOT MONEY SPELL

To get and hold a job, always carry a lucky hand root on your person.
Use Lucky Nine Oil on your wrists each day for nine days, and burn some
John the Conqueror Incense each night. These roots bring luck in all

The hands are usually imperfect, but this does not affect their value as a talisman.
The ones which are formed so that all five fingers are distinguishable are very
rare and therefore extremely expensive.

A Wish Spell

On the night of the new moon, write your wish on a clean piece of paper.

Light a white candle and turn off all lights. Think about the fulfillment of

your wish for several minutes then say:

As I sleep tonight, may the divine power of spiritual love and light grant my wish!

Then think about your wish as you burn the paper in the candle.

Repeat this ritual at the same time on 12 consecutive nights.

If you miss a night begin spell from day one.

Today’s I Ching Hexagram for December 25th – 9: Small Influences

9: Small Influences

A gentle wind gathers the clouds, but still, no rain. Softer influences predominate as the power of subtle forces grows. This is a time for smooth and friendly persuasion.

In the ebb and flow of events, there are always ‘low tides’ — times when sweeping action is impossible or inappropriate, but when small matters can be attended to profitably, leading to bigger and better things later on. When the tide is rolling in, by all means, ride the wave; but when it is receding like it is now, focus on little things.

When the times are such that you cannot do much to affect large matters, persuasion and subtle influence can prepare the way for strength in the future. Use your intuition to chart your long-term course, but avoid bold actions for the moment, for they are unlikely to work. This is an excellent time to refine existing abilities or develop new talents.

Be wary of others’ intentions if they hold the upper hand in a situation. Examine their sources of power, so as to discover subtle influences you may be able to exert upon them.

Today’s I Ching Hexagram for December 24 is 34: Great Vigor

34: Great Vigor

Congratulations! There is strength and vigor in this situation — like a ram who has knocked down a fence to free himself from captivity. This points to a time when a powerful force comes into its own and achieves influence.

When a leader finally comes into power, his or her personal strength usually has peaked. Great strength is required in climbing to the mountaintop, but once at the summit, the support of others is needed to maintain that lofty position. A shift in attitude becomes necessary. Raw strength must be tempered by wisdom; to maintain power, a strong leader must learn to give it away, to share it with others. Only then will his or her position be secure, for she will not only be the possessor of power, but the source of it as well.

If you find yourself in a high or strong position, it is especially important to act responsibly and react with care. Your personal power must not be allowed to degenerate into raw force that rides roughshod over everything in its path. A strong sense of responsibility to the collective good of all is the key to the successful exercise of strength. By following what we intuitively know to be for the greater good, we avoid reckless abuses of power that in the end undermine the source of our strength. Arrogance always contains the seeds of its own undoing.

Today’s Tarot Card for December 24th is Judgment

Judgment

Monday, Dec 24th, 2012

What has traditionally been known as the Judgement card, sometimes entitled Resurrection, represents the great reunion that the ancients believed would happen once in every age. This was the time when souls are harvested and taken Home to their place of origin, outside the solar system. Then the World is seeded with a batch of new souls and the process starts over.

From a modern point of view, this great reunion — which includes every personality that you have ever been and every soul that you have done deep work with — reunites to consciously complete the process. In a way, we symbolically celebrate this returning to center every year on our birthday.

In personal terms, the Judgment cards points to freedom from inner conflicts, and so clear a channel, that the buried talents and gifts of past incarnations can come through an individual in this lifetime. This card counsels you to trust the process of opening yourself, because what emerges is of consistently high quality. You can effortlessly manifest as a multi-dimensional being, and assist in evoking that response from others.

Listen and Open Up Spell

Listen and Open Up Spell

A Spell to help someone listen and open up to you.

If ever there is a time that you need someone else to hear what you are saying, try this simple spell. Position yourself so that you are sitting lower than the person you wish to speak with. Visualize a wall between the two of you, a wall that is made of collapsible material. Imagine a sharp object, such as a sword, in your hand and something such as a shield in his/her hand. “Put” your sword down and watch the wall crumble away. In you mind, ask the person to set aside their shield as well. Ask the person to speak what is on their mind. Allow them to talk as long as they need to while you only listen. Their defenses will slowly melt and they will become more open to hearing what you have to say.

Invocation to Capricorn

Climber of the highest mountain,
Goat whose strength does not give in,
Child of Saturn, chained god,
Who is a friend to hardship and endurance,
Whose gift is Persistence,
Bless us with the ability
To keep going even when the way is hard
Even when all hope seems to be lost,
Even when there is no light on the horizon.
Even in the utter darkness,
Never let us lose sight of our goals.
By the power of all aspiration,
You challenge us to help each other
Achieve what we have yearned for.
May we all go forth
In unswerving loyalty.

Chant:
Under the Earth
Under the ground
Is the birth of mountains found.

(Let all present hear the invocation on their knees, on the hardest floor, save for those who have an infirmity that must be taken into consideration. The singing also should be done kneeling, and afterwards let each person prostrate themselves on the ground, and remain that way, face down, meditating on the earth beneath them, until the hour is over.)

Your Daily I Ching Hexagram for Dec. 21st is 1: Creative Power

1: Creative Power

Friday, Dec 21st, 2012

hexagram09

The atmosphere is ripe with imagination, inspiration and energy, symbolized by the flying dragon. The dragon is an ancient symbol of an electrically charged, dynamic, arousing force that bodes well for creative initiatives. If your goals are in alignment with the greater good, your actions will meet with success, but this can only happen if you apply yang energy in a positive way. This hexagram, which consists of all yang lines, indicates a good time to take a leadership role, because Creative Power is with you now. But be forewarned: success turns to failure if you let strength turn to arrogance.

Believe in your vision and persevere; everything around you will flourish. Call upon Creative Power and let it work through you. Stay focused on your goals. Do not let yourself be distracted, or you may lose the power available to you now. And remember that when taking action, successful results require good timing.

Sunrise in the Snow

Sunrise in the Snow

An Evocation of Yule

by Levana Lindentree

A field of snow lies, shadows blue, in the gray before dawn. The air is so cold it pinches your nose shut; it smells crisp, like ice. Your breath around you is steam. You crunch forward in the snow, leaving footprints, one by one, in blank snow, like the first person on earth. Into silence, echoing silence.

At the edge of the field sits a wooden fence, wood of its ties gone silver-gray with age. You climb over, drop to the other side. You see that from the fence’s top tie you have peeled a splinter, and in the wound the wood shows warm tan-brown, the old wood still young beneath its skin. You brush yourself off, wondering where the splinter has gone, but you are bundled against the cold and you do not find it.

You stand still a moment on the snowy hill. The sky has lightened to a shining yellow-white, and along the blue mountains on the horizon flames a rim of coral. The sun is about to rise.

Ahead of you is a small wood. You crunch down to it through the cold. Oaks tower there, still holding their last brown leaves; dark firs stand, snow on their shoulders; low and merry holly-trees glisten, berries bright; ivy twines in the shadows.

At the wood’s edge, you greet a sentinel holly, touch one glossy leaf, feel its needle-spiked edge. Then you enter the darkness of the wood. Here the ground is barely snowy, just a few shakings on the path. The earth is deep in decaying leaves, turning to muck, in brown needles that muffle your steps. The air is hushed. Here, the night remains.

The wood’s darkness envelops you like a coat, protective, secret: secrets of earth. You breathe in. The air is warmer here; you smell fir and decaying leaves. You breathe in darkness, secrets, protection.

Now you walk forward, to the edge of the wood, and out again; you look back once, say farewell to the trees. The air is brighter, and ahead you see the red sun-disk poised on the horizon. The sun is rising, liquid fire, and as you watch, bit by bit it surfaces, the whole flaming round, the sun reborn at solstice. The light warms your face, and you reach out your hands.

Red light falls, colors the snow. All around you is silence. You breathe in cold fresh air, new light.

After a few moments, you turn your steps uphill to the small stone house where you are going. You tread fresh snow. Quickly you kneel, pull off a glove and take a handful of snow, bring it to your tongue. It tastes cold, empty. You rise and walk forward, reach the house’s doorstep. You feel nearly frozen; your ears are burning. The door is unlocked. You push inside.

Shutting the door behind you, you take off coat, gloves and boots. To the right is a stone fireplace, where someone has laid a fire. You find matches on the mantel and strike one, set it to the tinder, which blazes up. In a few moments, the fire is flaring, crackling, eating its wood, beginning to warm the house. You hold out your hands to it.

The house is decorated for Yule. Fir branches and holly drape the doorway, and in an arch hangs mistletoe, deep green, white berries, the semen of the God. On the fire is a large log, twined in ivy and fir, runes cut into its skin. You know this is the Yule log, beginning to burn.

There is only one thing missing. Then you hear stamping feet at the door, and it opens: a rush of cold air. There in the doorway stand the people you love best, come to celebrate Yule. You come forward and are enveloped in embraces.

Your Tarot Card for December 18th is The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man

Tuesday, Dec 18th, 2012

Traditionally, the card known as the Hanged Man usually indicates a lack of ability to help oneself through independent action. This energy is arrested and awaiting judgment. With this card, there is no avenue for the will to regain control until the situation has passed.

This represents a good time to be philosophical, to study and meditate upon the position you find yourself in, and form resolutions for the moment you become free again. Only those who possess wisdom, patience and optimism will be able to see through limitations, including possible humiliation, to grasp the inspiring lesson one can gain from such an experience.
