Calendar of the Moon for August 30th

Calendar of the Moon

Dark Moon Night

Color: Black
Element: Air
Altar: Upon a black cloth set a single black candle, incense, an iron sickle laid to mimic the direction of the waning moon, a cup of water, a lock of silver hair, and a white bone.
Offerings: Bones. Stones. Menstrual blood. Give something up.
Daily Meal: Soup of some sort, cooked in a cauldron, eaten in silence.

Dark Moon Invocation

At this time, in the dark of the moon,
When the Silver Lady ages
To an old woman in the dark,
Haunting crossroads, working magic,
Stirring her cauldron
Of poison that heals,
Grandmother Moon of sorcery
And wisdom, who sees all
And reveals little to our searching eyes.
Moon of Death, Moon of mystery,
Moon of silence who hides her face,
Let us learn silence from your averted gaze
Let us learn patience from your aging face
Let us feel for the dark places within us
And find our way down your path in the darkness
Which is utter and complete
But not impenetrable.
As darkness wraps us,
So silence heals us.
As darkness finds us,
So silence guides us.
As darkness speaks,
So silence falls.

(The candle is blown out, and all leave in silence. From the beginning of this rite at Hesperis until the dawn, silence will rule in the house. Talking must be done only in whispers, and between no more than two people, and only for that which is necessary. Long meditation is encouraged, and all work must be done quietly if possible. The evening meal should be eaten by candlelight, and only candles may light the house, except for the sake of certain important work.)

Charistheria

Color: White
Element: Water
Altar: Upon a white cloth set two white candles, a chalice of milk, white bread, and a dish shaped like open hands.
Offering: Work for a charity.
Daily Meal: Except for what is shared in ritual, fasting today until Hesperis.

Charistheria Invocation

We open our hands to others
And we do not judge their deserving,
For none of us, hard though we try,
Are always deserving ourselves.
To seek the path of grace
Begins with graciousness.
To learn the dance of graciousness
Requires learning grace
In the giving and the taking.
Holy Charis, embodiment of grace
And graciousness, you whose hands
Are always open to all,
Help us to step beyond our feelings
Of who is deserving, who is worthy,
Who commands our compassion,
Who is pitiable, who is loved.
Help us to step beyond our emotions
Of who should receive your gifts, and ours,
Yet do not ever let us cease feeling,
For your gifts are not given out of cold duty
But out of universal love.
We open our hands to others
And we do not judge their deserving,
For none of us, hard though we try,
Are always deserving ourselves.

(One who has been chosen to do the work of the ritual, and who should be dressed in white, brings the bread and milk to each person, and says, “You take, but you do not now give, for this is charity.” Each person replies, “Now I take, but later I give, for charity is grace,” and partakes of the bread and milk. Any remaining is poured out as a libation.)

Current Moon Phase for Aug. 30th – Last Quarter

Last Quarter Moon

(waning/36% illumination)

The time of reaping is at hand. There is a feeling of completion infused into the atmosphere during the Last Quarter Moon. The opportunity opens to recognize how far you’ve come in various parts of your life. This is not a good time for new beginnings, but rather a reflective period suited to evaluating how you have been using your time and what has been accomplished. Issues of authority may arise. This Moon phase supports taking responsibility for actively tying up the loose ends of projects that are already underway.

In the Good Old Summertime

Summer Comments & Graphics
“There’s a time each year
That we always hold dear,
Good old summer time;
With the birds and the trees’es
And sweet scented breezes,
Good old summer time,
When you day’s work is over
Then you are in clover,
And life is one beautiful rhyme,
No trouble annoying,
Each one is enjoying,
The good old summer time.”

  In the Good Old Summertime

TGIF! Thank The Goddess It Is Friday! May You Have A Very Blessed One, my friends!

Good Friday Morning, my loved ones! How are you doing today? I hope super-duper again, lol! I don’t know if some of you are lucky enough to have Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. Or do you just have Friday off? Or do you just have Monday off? Or do you…….? You tell me, lol!

Question of the Day or even the Century for that matter…..

HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE A WITCH? Or did something happen to make you suddenly realize “I’m A Witch?”

*You will see this question reappear throughout today’s postings. Just a little reminder that we have quite a few new ones are going to be looking for the answer to this question.*

Your Horoscopes For Thursday, August 29th

It’s frustrating if the current circumstances require us to make a choice because the dualistic Gemini Moon allows us to see both sides of an issue today. We don’t want to limit our options, but the critical Virgo Sun demands that we filter out the excess information. Meanwhile, mental Mercury anxiously aligns with erratic Uranus, making it difficult to trust our own logic because our ongoing analysis keeps leading us to different conclusions.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Your spontaneous nature is irrepressible now because your thoughts are moving quickly, inspiring you to show off your intelligence and wit. Unfortunately, someone could resent your success if you draw too much attention. There isn’t anything wrong with wanting to be noticed, but there’s no need to hog the spotlight. Don’t waste time trying to impress others; redirect your mental energy to concentrate on doing the best job you can. Let your brilliance shine through your work.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

You might become so caught up in wanting to be creative today that you lose track of your real priorities. Fortunately, you don’t have to be quite as productive as you think now. Replenish your energy by doing what feels good to your spirit. In fact, temporarily letting your efficiency slip could give you a chance to recharge your batteries, fueling your next great adventure.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

Relationship dynamics are tricky because you don’t have the patience now to follow through with an intense discussion, even if that’s what your partner wants. Although your current avoidance mechanisms are working well with the Moon in your clever sign, sidestepping a difficult conversation only charges the issue with more passion. Thankfully, showing up with a willingness to dig into a tough topic can ultimately lead to the increased intimacy you really crave.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

Someone close to you may be blocking your progress, but direct confrontation only increases the resistance today. You are tempted to withdraw and proceed in secret on your own, but there are distinct advantages to working out in the open. Whatever you do now, don’t delay your decision. Make up your mind and live with whatever path you choose. Be kind when you let others know your plans, but don’t waste time giving endless justifications for your choice. You command admiration simply by remaining true to your beliefs.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

Making a sensible financial decision today ultimately solidifies your position. You may believe that purchasing beautiful things for those you love is a simple expression of your affection, but others might not care as much as you think they should. Putting on a show with a gift can be a source of temporary enjoyment, but it’s more personal to demonstrate your abundant generosity in non-materialistic ways. A sincere gesture from the heart means more than anything you can buy.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Your changing needs add complexity to a current emotional situation, especially if recent experiences get jumbled up with what’s happening now. You may be so entangled in your own thoughts that it’s challenging to be receptive to someone else’s feelings. But letting go of your fear of losing control gives you a chance to share a magical moment with a close friend. Shifting your focus outward increases your compassion and improves your interactions with others.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

Although you seem quite talkative today, your chattiness might be part of your strategy to keep something hidden from others. However, your secrets could suddenly be brought out in the open. Rather than protecting yourself or someone else by remaining silent, examine the choices that brought you to the current situation and reassess your motives for being so careful about what you say. In the meantime, relying on your instincts allows you to land gracefully on your feet.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

Your anger may explode if you think that someone is trying to take something that’s yours. Your hostility might be directed toward a friend who doesn’t appear to have your best interests at heart. Unfortunately, the Moon is traveling through some bumpy territory today, increasing the volatility of your emotions. Before you just blurt out your reactions, take a deep breath and think carefully about what you’re going to say. Overreacting feels cathartic in the moment but could create a situation that’s complicated to untangle. Your message will have more impact if you remain calm, cool and collected.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

Other people may seem slightly scattered now that the fickle Gemini Moon is visiting your 7th House of Companions. An inconsistent partner can inadvertently motivate you to concentrate your energy even more. You don’t want to be perceived as a lightweight, so you might overcompensate and act annoyed in order to get your way. Be careful not to fabricate a problem where there is none, for once you stir up trouble, it won’t be so easy to make it go away. Nevertheless, success is more likely if you stay focused on your goals.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

You have a feeling now that something significant in your life is about to change, prompting you to plot further ahead in order to hold on to what you have. Keep in mind that you will need your physical energy as the shift gets underway, so don’t fritter away your resources on unimportant activities. Ultimately, exercising self-discipline goes a long way toward establishing healthier routines that prepare you for the amazing future ahead.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

You might be inclined to set off on your own, but you still can benefit from the assistance of a partner now. There may be crucial skills that you lack or, perhaps, you require financial support. Start looking for someone who can provide you with exactly what you need to get your project off the ground. However, caution is advised; don’t let others add more input than is necessary or you could be less than happy with the end results. Setting clear boundaries allows you to collaborate without a loss of independence.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

One of your friends may be trying to hand you responsibilities that shouldn’t really be yours. Unfortunately, there isn’t much you can do about it today without creating more problems. Even if you think you are being treated unfairly, you’re better off to let it go for now. Move through the day with minimum resistance; you’ll have plenty of time later on to settle the score. Taking the high road demonstrates your best self.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for August 29tu

If you are in need of a 24-hour time-span for plenty of R and R and letting the worries of life slip away, here’s your day. Not only is the Moon in Gemini void for this entire 24-hour time-period, but the Moon’s unsettled nature continues until 4:34AM tomorrow.  As most of the readers of this calendar already know, it is wise to complete odds and ends, and certainly old projects, on a high note under a void-of-course Moon, but refrain from initiating bold, new enterprises. There are several additional, cosmic reasons why you want to refrain from being too aggressive or assertive today as the Sun makes an off-kilter, 150-degree tie with Juno (2:17AM), Mercury opposes Chiron (4:13PM), Venus makes a frictional, 45-degree contact with Ceres (4:42PM), Mercury forms an off-kilter, 150-degree link with its higher-guardian planet revolutionary Uranus (6:01PM) while the Sun makes a supportive, 60-degree liaison with Saturn (10:19PM).  One could tweak both the Mercury-Chiron polarity and the Sun-Saturn 60-degree tie into providing gains on the healing and business fronts, but since the Moon is void and the other alignments are fairly discordant in nature, it is best not to press your luck in trying to make things happen your way. Therefore, the less egocentricity and forcefulness today, so much the better. In a very positive manner, the Moon’s void presence in Gemini can provide you hours of enjoyment with arts, crafts, hobbies, and while playing games or enjoying non-competitive athletics. (Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Daylight Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.)

The Nine Principles of the Goddess

il_fullxfull_238700848

The Nine Principles of the Goddess

1. I acknowledge that there is one Goddess in essence, Creatrix of all existences; Her forms are infinite, She manifests Herself in our love, and we are all Her lovers.

2. Treat all beings with reciprocity, for the Goddess lives in them as well as in us.

3. Tolerate other religions and do not compel others to join the circle of the Goddess: the Goddess will draw those to Her who are ready and hear Her call.

4. Worship Her by restoring balance to Her planet.

5. Eat mostly grains, vegetables and fruits, so that there will be enough food for all; when you eat thank the Goddess, the provider of all energy. It is not forbidden to eat animal flesh in moderation, but when you do so you must thank the animal that you eat as well.

6. In the circle of the Goddess create consensus while respecting diversity of opinion. On the path of the Goddess there are many paths.

7. In your home create a sacred space for the Goddess to please Her. Meditate on the Goddess three times a day, at rising, at noon and at sundown.

8. Sexuality is Her sacrament; enjoy this gift and bless those who you share it with love and affection. Remember that overcoming jealousy is the cause of cessation of the cycle of rebirth.

9. Announce the religion of the Goddess to the world through good works, honest words and selfless acts of beauty and love.

To set out on the path of the Goddess, you need only recite the first principle three times, and say three times ‘blessed be’. The Goddess will enter your heart and you will feel her love, and when that happens you are in the circle of the Goddess.

Let's Talk Witch – Finding Power Center

Let’s Talk Witch – Finding Power Center

Sacred spots exist in every country and region, perhaps in your own backyard. All you have to do to locate them is attune your awareness to pick up the earth’s vibrations. As you seek out places that house special energy, pay attention to these key indicators that tell you you’re standing on holy ground:

Body heat increases (without the sun coming out or other environmental causes).

Dowsing rods or pendulums react positively, as if finding a hit.

The place appears repeatedly in your dreams, usually with something magickal or spiritual taking place there.

An emotional sense of peace and tranquility settles over you like a warm blanket.

You get a feeling that you’re not alone (as if the animals, birds, trees, or other living things are trying to communicate with you through motion, sounds, or symbols).

Hairs on your arms rise, as if you’ve been exposed to a current of energy, or you feel a sudden chill.

There are unusually lush displays of plants uncharacteristic of the region; for example, a streak of bright green grass was once called a faery trail, and these usually follow ley lines.

Your totems and power animals appear there regularly.

You experience a sense of timelessness, as if there is only now.

You can also dowse an area to assess its energy. A pendulum will pick up speed and spin enthusiastically in the presence of a ley line or power center. Dowsing rods tip down toward the ground when they connect with this vibrant earth energy. You can even dowse a map to find a sacred site near your home.

Good morning my dear family and friends,

I hope you are having a great morning. Just keep thinking about that loooong weekend you have coming up. I am excited but you can’t tell, can ya’? There will be something around here to actually do for a change. The only time something happens is when it is a holiday. The rest of the time you just hang from the ceiling out of boredom, lol!

I didn’t want to get off subject but I did. I started out to tell you today’s posts might be short. The reason, I have a doctor’s appointment to go too. So if I zip out of here real quick, you know what is going on.  And of course, my little shadow, Mystie will be going with me. I think she thinks if she doesn’t go, I won’t go to the doctor appointments. Silly Girl!

Anyway, I am off to get to work. Have a beautiful and blessed day!

Love ya,

THINK ON THESE THINGS for August 28th

THINK ON THESE THINGS
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

Symbolism is a part of all our lives. We see certain things and they call to mind a state of life that enriches or drains us of all hope. How like the old Indian chief in the book WHEN THE NIGHTBIRD SINGS. He heard the bird’s clear song at the midnight hour and he rose up from his death bed totally well.

The bird sang of good life and the old Chief heard it. Listen for such a song in your own heart because it may be a miracle for you and you can rise like the phoenix out of ashes to become a new person.

Life has its mysteries, but often those mysteries are more true than the things people shout about. Spirit does not shout to us, but what a wonderful thing when we hear Him whisper. The very breath of life, the holiness of a moment of truth. Listen and hear it.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – August 28

“With prayer and good intentions, we make our lives sacred and so come to balance.”

–Don Jose Matsua, HUICHOL SIERRA MADRE MEXICO

Only through prayer can we make spiritual changes that are permanent. You have told us that all life is sacred. Today I intend to serve you, my Creator. Allow me to overcome temptation, and if one comes along, let me see the lessons that will give balance. You have told us that all life is sacred. Let me see today with a sacred eye. Let me see beauty in all things.

My Creator, let me know what You would have me be today. Let my intentions be honest, respectful, humble and loving.

August 28 – Daily Feast

August 28 – Daily Feast

Everything that thrives is fed by the light. Lift up a rock, and the seed that sprouted beneath it is bent, stunted and colorless. But after a few hours of filtered light it begins to straighten, and will eventually throw off all the effects of being held down. We need, a li so qui lv di, a weight or a burden, lifted from our shoulders so we can grow and thrive in the light. We have to show willingness to stand on the rock and not beneath it. To see ourselves in better circumstances, to think clearly, is to be free. Little by little we see the possibility of health and order and great prosperity which includes everything we need. To see good and say good will eventually cause good, but our vision and our words must be steady.

~ You must speak straight so that your words may go as sunlight to our hearts.

Daily Motivator for August 28th – Little bits

Little bits

If all you can do right now is a little bit, do it. Those little bits will  quickly add up.

Value that is built over time, in small increments, tends to be value that  also lasts for a long time. Use each opportunity, each day, to build more.

Doing something, even if it is just a little bit, is infinitely more  productive than doing nothing. So do something, where you are, with what you  have, using the time that’s available to you.

By doing something now, you increase the value of what you’re able to do  later. By doing something useful with this moment, you preserve the moment’s  value long after the moment has passed.

By all means, do as much as you can. And if all you can do right now is just  a little bit, that’s a whole lot more than nothing.

Do a little bit now, a little bit later, and as much as you can each chance  you get. Soon you’ll have a whole lot of good things to show for your  efforts.

Daily OM for August 28th – An Invitation To Comfort

An Invitation to Comfort

Creating a Serene Home

by Madisyn Taylor

Include all 5 senses while making a home, doing so provides safe haven for your evolving body and soul.

Your home is your oasis. Through your efforts, your house or apartment can become both a private sanctuary and a welcoming, serene, and healthy place to live in and visit. An organized and comfortable home can have a calming effect on you, your family, and guests, as well as be your personal escape from the rest of the world.  Creating this nurturing space isn’t difficult. Even a household that includes young children or multiple animals can be a serene and peaceful place. In just a few minutes, you can make a number of changes that can turn your home into a safe and comfortable haven that you can be proud to share with your loved ones and friends.

One way to fill your house or apartment with calming energy is to imbue it with a peaceful ambiance that nurtures all five senses. Soft lighting and soothing colors like blue, purple, and green can make a space feel warm and inviting, while pleasant and calming aromas such as lavender and vanilla can positively affect moods. Peaceful sounds, such as running water in a fountain or gentle chimes can uplift and clear the space, while clearing clutter and making the most of open space can ease internal turmoil and dispel negative feelings. The physical objects in your home as well as your home itself can retain the energy of previous owners or creators. You can give your household’s energy a lift by visualizing white light surrounding our home, symbolically sweeping out residual energy, or smudging your home with cleansing sage.

The changes you make to your home can be as unique as you are and may involve utilization of space, lighting, new furniture, decorating, feng shui, or ritual. But what you do is not as important as being clear in your intention to set up your household as a soothing and refreshing place to be. Make your home a place of comfort, and you will feel nurtured and cared for whenever you are there.
