Life As The Witch – Recognizing Our Goddess, HEKATE (Hecate)

Hekate: A Modern Implications

These days, Hekate is often still seen as the Goddess of Witchcraft and Dark Magick, a Dark Crone, because of her connection to the line between life and death. Her chthonic roots are attributed to her aspects as a Death Goddess, but in truth she is not solely death aspected. Her nature is one of transformation, and though change can be terrifying and damaging, it can also be beatific. To think of Her only as a chthonic, Underworld Goddess is to ignore part of her nature.

These days we too often see things in terms of diametric, opposites (light/dark, masculine, feminine, God/Goddess, as if the vast universe is written in binary, nothing more than ones and zeros. While these dichotomies play a role in the nature of the universe, they are also simplified depictions. Deity cannot be contained in the use of dichotomy, because deity transcends those terms.

Hekate is neither light nor dark; she is the very scale of graduation, present at the exact point at which one type of gray becomes another, between every gradient and at either end of the spectrum. Each change is her territory, and there are billions of transformations every day.

Hekate’s connection to magic is another aspect of her nature. Through magic we take what is only potential and pull it into reality, imprinting the mundane world with what could be. And this is one of the biggest changes of all, the transformation for which Hekate has always been particularly revered. Magick is transformation, and it’s from this that Hekate’s association with it is.

In invoking Heckate we can learn to accept changes in our lives, both positive and negative, and we can also create change in our own worlds. She aids the completion and manifestation of spells and when called for divinatory purposes she can help to reveal the truth more readily. She can part the Veil, to allow clearer vision or communion with the dead. Hekate is a protector of children, especially when they walk hard paths, but also in the journey into adulthood.

Hekate guards the crossroads, both those that line our physical reality and those that mark our passage through life, through our spirituality, and through the journey that is existence.

Wishing You & Yours A Very Blessed Thursday Afternoon, my dear family!

Focus can be powerful
When used for spell or charm
But too much focus gone awry
Can cause both woe and harm.

Today I vow to do my best
To let go of obsession
What I crave’s not good for me
And I have learned my lesson well.

With your help, Dear Divine Goddess,
I seek to walk a balanced Path
Of healthy wants and needs
I ask the Goddess and God to lend me strength
And grant me my release

So Mote It Be

Goddess Bless You, my dear family, On This Fabulous Friday!

Look down upon your children

And help us to live together in peace

Send us tolerance and understanding

Patience with each other

And with ourselves

Help us to play nice

And to get along despite our differences

Let us tear down the walls that keep us apart

And build bridges that will bring us together

Help us to realize

That we must learn to live as one

On our beautiful planet

Ancient Hag, Wise Grandmother,

You of Wisdom, like no other,

Help me weigh choices with precision,

To make a good and fair decision

Show me what I need to see,

Shed some light on what should be.

And should I turn a deafened ear

Open it so I can hear

Help me feel what I should know.

Show me now which way to go.

Guide me in what I just do.

This, Old Crone, I ask of You.

Hail Morrighan! Hail Morrighan!
Protect this land from those who would trespass upon it!
Hail Morrighan! Hail Morrighan!
Guard this land and all those who dwell within it!
Hail Morrighan! Hail Morrighan!
Watch over this land and all contained upon it!
Hail Morrighan! Hail Morrighan!
Goddess of battle, great goddess of the land,
She who is the Washer at the Ford, Mistress of Ravens,
And Keeper of the Shield,
We call upon you for protection.
Trespassers beware! The great Morrighan stands guard,
And she shall unleash her displeasure upon you.
Let it be known that this land falls under her protection,
And to do harm to any within it
Is to invite her wrath.
Hail Morrighan! Hail Morrighan!
We honor and thank you this day!
Hail Morrighan! Hail Morrighan!

The Pagan Journey

Before Time Was

Cosmos-01-485x728

Before Time Was

Before time was, there was The One; The One was all & all
was The One
And the vast expanse known as the Universe was The One,
allwise, all-pervading, all-powerful, eternally changing.
And Space moved. The One molded energy into twin forms
equal but opposite, fashioning the Goddess and God from
The One and of The One.
The Goddess & God stretched and gave thanks to The
One, but darkness surrounded them. They were alone,
solitary save for The One.
So they formed energy into gases and gases into suns and
planets and moons; They sprinkled the Universe with
whirling globes and so all was given shape by the hands of
the Goddess and God.
Light arose and the sky was illuminated by a billion suns.
and the Goddess and Gods, satisfied by their works,
rejoiced and loved, and were one.
From their union sprang seeds of life, and of the human
race, so that we might achieve incarnation upon the Earth.
The Goddess chose the Moon as her symbol, and the God
the Sun as his symbol to remind the inhabitants of Earth of
their fashioners.
All are born, live, die and are reborn beneath The Sun and
Moon; all things come to pass thereunder, and all occurs
with the blessings of The One, as has been the way of
existence before time was.

God and Goddess, Quiet My Mind

pagan

God and Goddess
Help me to quiet my mind
And calm my Spirit
Let me seek my calm
And grounded center
And connect with the Earth
Let me be as one with the Elements
In their calmest forms—

The still pool
The soothing wind in the leaves
The crackle of the home fire burning
And let me be at peace
Quiet the voices that haunt me
And cease my circular thoughts
So I might think, and rest, and be

God and Goddess
Help me to quiet my mind
And calm my Spirit.

So Mote It Be

The Nine Principles of the Goddess

il_fullxfull_238700848

The Nine Principles of the Goddess

1. I acknowledge that there is one Goddess in essence, Creatrix of all existences; Her forms are infinite, She manifests Herself in our love, and we are all Her lovers.

2. Treat all beings with reciprocity, for the Goddess lives in them as well as in us.

3. Tolerate other religions and do not compel others to join the circle of the Goddess: the Goddess will draw those to Her who are ready and hear Her call.

4. Worship Her by restoring balance to Her planet.

5. Eat mostly grains, vegetables and fruits, so that there will be enough food for all; when you eat thank the Goddess, the provider of all energy. It is not forbidden to eat animal flesh in moderation, but when you do so you must thank the animal that you eat as well.

6. In the circle of the Goddess create consensus while respecting diversity of opinion. On the path of the Goddess there are many paths.

7. In your home create a sacred space for the Goddess to please Her. Meditate on the Goddess three times a day, at rising, at noon and at sundown.

8. Sexuality is Her sacrament; enjoy this gift and bless those who you share it with love and affection. Remember that overcoming jealousy is the cause of cessation of the cycle of rebirth.

9. Announce the religion of the Goddess to the world through good works, honest words and selfless acts of beauty and love.

To set out on the path of the Goddess, you need only recite the first principle three times, and say three times ‘blessed be’. The Goddess will enter your heart and you will feel her love, and when that happens you are in the circle of the Goddess.

Goddess Speak to Me

A man whispered
“Goddess, speak to me”
And a meadowlark sang
but the man did not hear.
So the man yelled
“Goddess speak to me!”
And the thunder rolled across the sky.
But the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said
“Goddess let me see you”
And a star shone brightly.
But the man did not notice.
And the man shouted
“Goddess show me a miracle”
And a life was born.
But the man did not know.
So, the man cried out in despair.
“Touch me Goddess and let me know
that you are here!”
Whereupon Goddess reached down
and touched the man.
But the man brushed the butterfly away
and walked on.

The Witch’s Psalm

Goddess Comments & Graphics

The Witch’s Psalm

The Goddess is my Mother, I shall not have need. She asks that I lie down in moon light pastures, She leads me to the twilight’s gleam. She restores my soul. The God guides my path of self knowledge in the All’s ever glowing knowledge.

Yea though I will walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I Fear not the crone for she comforts and guides me to my new home. I fear no evil, for evil is only misunderstood energy.

The Goddess’s Wand and broom guide me every step I take. She prepares a table for me, next to her. My enemies are only misunderstood friends, I should not fear. I will anoint my forehead with blessed oil, for I am kissed there by the Goddess.

My life truly overflows with love, because I understand religion is in your heart, not in a temple.

Surely Goodness will follow me all the days of my life, and I dwell in the forest of the Lord and Lady.
