We all need a little time to ourself a minimum of twice a week, but every day is better, to do something we enjoy be it read a book or listen to some music. A time to disengage with the fast pace of the world around us daily. A small block of time set aside just to relax without a cell or landline phone ringing, no computer on for work or social media or whatever or having to take someone here or there. It is important to take time to devote to nurturing and caring for ourselves. Otherwise, we can become stressed to the max and overwhelmed with all we have to do on a daily basis and not be in a good place to help anyone with anything especially ourselves.
What You Will Need:
A comfy place where you will not be disturbed for 15 to 30 minutes to sit preferably with your legs up
A candle in your favorite color – (scented if you do not want to burn your favorite incense also)
Your favorite incense scent – it should burn for at least 15 minutes
Whatever your favorite drink is to relax with
A favorite lite snack
A good book or music or both or just be surrounded by silence (You may want to purchase some noise defending ear plugs if your home or neighborhood tends to be somewhat noisy) or taking a walk or sitting surrounded by nature or journaling about your day (see some journaling prompts below)
What You Should Do for Yourself:
If you are going to read or listen to your favorite type of music set up a place where you can accomplish this without someone coming to you every minute or so wanting, you for whatever reason. If you have children, I suggest setting aside your time after they are in bed for the night or between feeding for those of you with infants.
Have your beverage and snack set close at hand then snuggle into your favorite chair, corner of the couch or even on a few pillows on the floor. Get yourself into a comfortable position than relax with your book or music or both or the silence.
If you are going on a walk or sitting somewhere where you will be surrounded by nature make sure to have enough to drink with you! A snack might not be a good idea if there is wildlife around as they may bug you to share it with them. The choice of course is yup to you to take one with or not. Make sure to dress properly for the weather and carry your cellphone with to use only in case of an emergency otherwise I suggest you shut it off so the ringing or text messages can wait until you are through with your self-care time.
You can journal indoors or outdoors it comes down to where you want to do it and it feels right to you. You can use a simple spiral or composition book type notebook for journaling. There is no need to look for and buy anything expensive as the only person that will be using it and reading it is you.
Here are 3 questions I was given by one of my doctors to answer each night before I go to sleep (sometimes I write the answers down and sometimes I don’t)
What are 1 to 3 things I have accomplished today? (Yes, just getting up counts)
What would I like to dream about tonight?
What are 1 to 3 things I want to accomplish tomorrow?
Another thing I use for journaling is to draw 1 tarot card from whichever deck my hand stops on. Before closing my eyes to pick a deck I look away as I mix up (like playing the child’s game of Go Fish) on a tabletop one card from each deck I own than turn my head away and pick out a card. I put the rest back with the deck they belong to. Next, I take out the deck that the card I picked goes with and mix them up on a tabletop. Again, I turn my head away and pick a card at random. I will look the card up in the companion book if it has one read the card description only then close the book. I hold the card between both hands and ask my Spirit Guides what message the card has just for me. It is amazing to me what we can learn from our Spirit Guides this way.
The Moon phase for October 19th, 2026 is a Waxing Gibbous phase. This is the phase where the moon is more than 50% illuminated but has not yet reached 100% illumination (which would be a Full Moon).
In the Northern Hemisphere, the right side will be illuminated, and in the Southern hemisphere it’ll be the left side that is illuminated.
The Waxing Gibbous phase, like all moon phases, will last for just over 7 days. The actual length will vary because of the elliptical shaped orbit of the moon. During this Waxing Gibbous phase the moon will rise in the east in the mid- to late-afternoon and will be high in the eastern sky at sunset.
Assuming it’s a clear night, the Waxing Gibbous moon will then be visible through most of the night before setting just before sunrise.

The First Quarter phase comes roughly 7 days after the New Moon and this is when the moon has completed one quarter of its orbit around the Earth (hence the name, First Quarter). The moon will be high overhead at sunset in this phase and will be visible until mid-night, when it sets in the west.
The First Quarter of the moon phase cycle happens on one day. It’s followed by the intermediate phase, Waxing Gibbous, and will become more illuminated every day until it reaches the Full Moon phase.

Baby Fire dragons are hatching out of a nest among the lower fire vents on the slope of a volcano. A Celtic sword visible behind the nest stands upright and has craved dragons twining around the hilt. In the background the volcano is glowing and blowing smoke. The clouds are dark with reflections of fire on them. Fire symbolizes physical, mental, and spiritual strength and action. This strength can manifest either as destructive power or regeneration, depending upon the intent and self-discipline of the individual. The sword also has much the same meaning: strength and defense, the power to liberate or wound. Potential for self-destruction is represent by the active volcano in the background. Our lives are often disrupted by cataclysmic events, which sometimes seem to destroy our lives and turn them upside down. If we can learn to harness the fire of these events, we can walk safely through the flames and come out stronger tham we were.
Divinatory Meaning: You are in the process of making decisions that will effect your life for some time. A new period or cycle of much activity is imminent. Beware of activity without thought.

You may experience a passing through of difficulties before reaching a new level.
Walls and blocks may see insurmountable at the current time. But the Scythe implies you have the strength and fortitude to overcome all difficulties that you now encounter.

A beautiful oil painting for the Libra man and an antique vase for the woman.
1 natural candle and 1 blue candle
1 stone/pebble amethyst or quartz for every person you would like to remember on this night
1 goblet red wine (or more if you have a lot of people to remember!!)
Cast your circle or sacred space, ensuring you have a comfortable area to sit within your circle as you could be there some time. Light the two candles in the west of your circle forming a doorway by which spirit can enter should they choose to do so. Now, take one crystal in your hand, close your eyes and remember the good things about that person – those things that made you smile, laugh or cry. Then, when you have remembered the things you wanted to, simply state something like “If you are able, please come and sit with me…name….” then lay down the stone with the candles. Lift your glass and toast them and take a drink. Continue until all the people you wanted to think about had been remembered.
You may get the feeling that one is present, a few or all if you are lucky, in which case it will be a crowded circle. However, it is lovely to sit and remember and let them come should they want to. This is what Samhain is for and why the children dress as ghosts and ghouls. When you have sat for enough time and all is done (you can also do your divination within the circle as it would definitely be a powerful reading), then simply pick up each crystal individually, stating something like “…name…, thank you for your time, and I bid you hale and farewell.” and when all have been thanked, then close down your circle and keep those special crystals on your altar.

Samhain is a day of reflection of the past year while celebrating the new. It is a day that whatever has not been harvested from gardens, fields, bushes, and trees get left for the wildlife and Fea Folk to help them through the cold months of the year. It is also a day to communicate with those who have crossed the veil into the Summerlands. Many pagans and witches say it is the day and/or night to honor only those that have crossed in the last year but I do not go along with this way of thinking. While those who have passed since November 1, 2025 up to today do need more comforting and remembering them then those that have crossed over in other years/centuries past. The farther back in time you go to those who have crossed before the last year the more chance there is that they will be forgotten totally.
Hypothetically, if I crossed the veil 300 years ago and each generation after me talk about me less and less as each year passes soon I will be forgotten completely. This is one reason I have my Book of Shadows and Family Grimoire as one book that I hope keeps growing after I am gone. I have also placed pictures of ancestors at different ages as well as pictures of myself alone and with family members both ancestors and descents. In the section for ancestors I have included a picture of their headstone and where it can be found if I know.
So this Samhain when you are setting the extra place at the table for your ancestors to join your family in celebration, light a candle for each ancestors name, or however you choose to honor your ancestors (remember an ancestor does not have to be blood related they can be anyone in your life that help to mold you or a family member into the person you or they are today.) Set one more place, light one more candle, or whatever your tradition to remember your ancestors is for those who names have been forgotten since the first Homosapien of any branch of the human gene pool lived.
I implore you all to remember that we all can trace our lineage back to this mish mash of a gene pool and that the energy that runs through us connects us to every other living thing and not just on Mother Earth but also in the Spirit World/Realm. So the next time you have a negative thought about someone in your family or friends circle for any reason at all remember you are also having that negative thought about yourself.
I picked this song to be included in this post because for me it helps me to remember those, female or male or other, who otherwise might be forgotten

A teenage girl, clad in a golden breastplate and helmet, stands beside a large dragon on a rocky hill. They are watching men build a stone house below. The girl has a Celtic sword slung at her belt; beside the sword is a bag with a pentacle on the side. From her vantage point at the gates to the spiritual realm, the girl can clearly see the labor that goes into each life; this labor creates a personal space for the individual, a necessity for the maintenance of the individuality and personal identity. The stones of the hillside symbolize primordial power; this symbolism is repeated in the stones used to build the house. There is an unlimited supply of creative, primordial energy upon which any person may draw to manifest what is needed in life, if they are willing to put forth the effort. The sword and the bag with the pentacle represent the spiritual strength for defense.

Whenever you venture into unfamiliar territory it’s quite natural to feel some trepidation. Your mind can create all sorts of scenarios as to what can go wrong. Doubts and uncertainties may arise, and the can seem fraught with challenges and sometimes even danger. You may find yourself stuck at times, fearful about moving ahead. Yet much of what we label as fear isn’t actually fear, True fear is a vital, instinctual response to any life-threatening situation and is triggered not only by circumstances or events, but even more so by what you think about those circumstances or events. Stay relaxed yet vigilant, trusting that nothing can truly harm you and that your body will provide sensory information if there is any actual danger. If there truly is a threat, then your instincts will tell you what to do.
Whenever you feel an exaggerated sense of fear triggered mainly by your thoughts, one that has little or no basis in reality, take a few slow, deep breaths. Call upon spirit helpers who have provided their guidance and protection before. Reach out to close friends or family members for reassurance and to help you feel grounded and centered. Recall those times in the past when you did not feel frightened or were endangered and not only survived, but came through intact. You can also re-label fear and instead call it excitement, as the two emotions are very similar in the way they manifest in the body. Most of all, trust your spirit guides, your instincts, and your friends to watch out for you.

This rune means to watch, to be spellbound, to probe deeper and discover that which is hidden from view.
It indicates becoming conscious and aware. This can sometimes mean you will be shocked into some awareness.
The Eye Rune implies the inner eye, to bring something into focus, to awaken or startle.

E is Eadhadh, or Eadha, which is the Aspen, a symbol of endurance and courage. The Aspen is a durable, hardy tree that grows all over North America and Scotland, so when Eadhadh appears, take it as a sign of strong will and success. Challenges may come your way, but you will eventually conquer your adversaries and obstacles.
In folklore and literature, the Aspen is associated with heroes, and many “crowns of Aspen” have been found in ancient burial sites. The sturdy wood was popular for making shields, and were often imbued with magical protective properties. In the Highlands of Scotland, the Aspen was often rumored to be connected to the realm of the Fae.
Mundane Aspects: Like the Aspen, you can be flexible without snapping. No matter what obstacles come, allow yourself to know that these too will be gone eventually. You will be left stronger for the experience, if you can get over your fears and reservations.
Magical Aspects: Don’t give in to the pressures of the material world. Focus instead on your spiritual journey, even if it seems like it would be a lot easier to give up and let things fall by the wayside. Even in the Tarot, the Fool knows he has a long way to go, but the first step is the hardest. When Eadhadh appears, put aside your distractions, and take that first all-important step on your journey.
General Meaning: Personal resolution points to a breakthrough, but decisive action is required. As long as you diligently hold your ground and ward off negative tendencies and influences, the good will prevail.
The persistence of negativity, which is that which opposes the good, is a constant in human affairs. Just when it is thought to have been eradicated, up it will pop again, sprouting through some crack in the pavement of civilized society. Evil need not take dramatic or extravagant forms, such as those exhibited in Nazi Germany. Garden-variety lies and deceit are much more common and persistent, but should be rooted out just as diligently. One must be determined to not accidentally feed negativity — either in one’s social or professional life, or in one’s own soul. In either case, definite rules must be followed for the struggle to succeed.
The first rule: do not compromise with evil. Destructive or exploitive actions must be identified openly for what they are, and discredited. The second: one cannot successfully resist negativity on its own terms. New, positive alternatives that lead away from the source of the problem are generally more successful, and appropriate than trying to counter negativity with raw power. The third rule: the means used to counter negativity must be consistent with the end to be achieved. One cannot stop the spreading of lies by spreading more of them.
It is involved with business on an international scale, and it is a discordance between idealism and selfishness. There is a lack of conscious spiritual effort. If the 18 is prominent in your chart, reading and travel will be very beneficial.
Your life or something in it is taking a turn for the better. Number five represents change.
