Ngetal

Healing, cleaning, cleansing, catharsis, paring down

Tree: Broom (Cytisus spp.)

Letter: Ng

Like when a fever breaks, broom signifies the end of a struggle and the subsequent ability to clear out the junk to make way for a newer, more positive approach. Walking a way from a bad habit or situation can be painful, but not necessarily so. It may also be gradual. Overall, Ngetal is the importance of getting rid of old junk and baggage (this could be actual clutter or psychological baggage, which of course are intimately linked) or it could mean the resolution of action against someone who has wronged you, whether it is forgiveness or cutting and clearing them out of your life. If it is forgiveness, Ngetal suggests it is coming from a genuine place of inner peace. Apologizing does not necessarily make you an apologist.

There is a process of analysis and reflection that eventually distances anger and enables you to feel it without being puppeted by it. Letting go of attachments that aren’t healthy, for instance, an obsession with being liked for the way you look, will help you develop in ways that fulfill your purpose in this life. Ngetal could signify you are beginning to release anxieties about what you have no control over, which will go a long way in healing your spirit.

Questions when you draw Ngetal:
-What bad habits do I have that I’d like to get rid of within the next year?
-Should I wholly forgive a person who is doing me wrong right now, cut them out of my life, or figure out a strategy that is somewhere in-between?

Ngetal ill-dignified excess: Compulsive cleanliness

Hexagram Fifty – Nine/59

Huan / Dissolution

Wind carries the Mists aloft:
Sage rulers dedicated their lives to serving a Higher Power and built temples that still endure.

The King approaches his temple.
Success if you stay on course.
You may cross to the far shore.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

Walls meant to protect have instead separated and isolated.
Your defenses have kept you apart from those whom you most need to touch.
Whatever the reason for discord between you, it is time to lay down your arms.
Dispel the inflexible demands and fears of the Mind so that you may reunite in the Heart.
If you have begrudged, forgive.
If you have torn down, repair.
If you have injured, heal.
If you have judged, pardon.
If you have grasped, let go.

Celtic Tree Month of the Birch December 24 – January 20

(SIDE NOTE: I am sorry I am posting this month so late. I lost track of it going up between all the holidays)

From ireland-calling.com

Birch – the tree of birth

Birch is a hardy and adaptable tree, able to grow where many trees cannot. It seldom grows alone and is often found in groves.

The birch tree has many uses both medicinal and practical.

Birch wood is durable but quick to rot, making it a good home for insects and birdlife.

It was often used to make May poles and start the fires at Beltane, the festival of new beginnings, due to a highly combustible tar in its bark.

This tar is furthermore believed to be good for the skin and can be used to treat eczema.

Birch is also associated with purification and protection. The leaves of the birch can be brewed into a tea that treats infection, stimulates the gall bladder and kidneys and is said to dissolve gravel and kidney stones.

Birch used to stimulate purification process

In Scandinavia birch is used in saunas to stimulate the purification process and in Russia birch branches are beaten against the skin at steam rooms for the same purpose. This practice was also used as a punishment in old England to purify a criminal of evil.

The Birch was seen by the Druids as the tree of birth – a symbol of new beginnings. Beth, meaning birch, is the first letter in the Ogham alphabet and the first month in the Celtic Tree Calendar.

Brooms were often made out of birch twigs as birch was believed to have protective qualities.

The birch brooms were used to drive away the spirits of the old year in a protective ritual called ‘beating the bounds’.

Babies’ cradles were often made of birch for these same protective qualities and it is said that carrying a piece of birch will protect you from fairies.

Spell for Tuesday – The Penny Spell

By Tuesday, most people are over Monday’s slump and are ready to charge. They feel more alert and energized on this day. Tuesdays are considered good days for communication, tenderness, taking care of business, and exercise spells.

The Penny Spell

(Taking Care of Business Spells Just for Tuesday)

Items needed for this spell:

2 pennies

Your hands

Take two pennies in your hands and shake them, fairly hard. While doing this, say this chant three times:

“Penny, Penny, Penny.

I’m shaking these pennies.

And all is fun. In a snap,

I need this done.

Sending this out in a run.

I will slap

These, two pennies, down, into one.”

After this chant, throw the pennies on-top of each other, on the ground. The hardness of the throw and the clanking of the pennies will send out the serious urgency of your spell.

Spell for Monday – CROSSROADS SPELL

(YOU CAN COPY AND PASTE ANY SPELLS POSTED TO A DOCUMENT TO PRINT AND/OR SAVE ON YOUR COMPUTER)

A Crossroads candle spell is used when you cannot choose the left fork in the road or the right. This spell is for MAJOR decisions like moving, career, etc. I would strongly not suggest this spell for a choice between two men or women.

CROSSROADS SPELL

1 white candle
1 black candle
1 red candle
A packet of Cornnuts (original recipe) Toasted Corn
21 caramels
1 small bottle of rum
three cigars (unwrapped)
Three stick matches
21 pennies

Write a letter to the spirit of the Crossroads and tell him the situation that you cannot decide or which road or path to choose. Lay it out in good detail which is which – meaning, what will happen if you choose this road and what will happen if you choose that path.

Go to a 4 way crossroads at 11:30 pm preferably on a Sunday night, but any night will do if you need it NOW. Place letter in center of a 4 way crossroads (must be 4 way) that extends beyond 7 blocks in each direction. Place three candles in a triangle shape on letter, surrounded by the 21 pennies. Lay one cigar each at base of the candle. Place one of each of the stick matches in between each candle. Place caramels and open pack of Cornnuts and pour in center. Take a good draw of the rum into your mouth, swish it around, spit it in a spray-like pattern over all. Set rest of open bottle of rum down on paper. Light candles and walk away.

Do not, do not, DO NOT look back or look into rear view mirror when driving away.

Accept what happens and where this takes you.

Spell for Wednesday – Leaf Spell for Release

Leaf Spell for Release from thewitchandwand.com

Take a walk in nature and reflect on what no longer serves you. Collect a leaf and use it to cast this spell to let go pain and the past so you can summon peace and restore your sense of inner harmony.

I love casting this spell in fall, especially around the fall harvest festival known as Mabon. The fall is a wonderfully transformative time. As the leaves begin to change color and drop to the ground, we are reminded that sometimes we need to let go in order to change.

ITEMS NEEDED

leaf

ziploc bag

chopstick or something similar

STEPS

1. Go for a walk outside and reflect on what you would like to let go of

2. Collect a newly fallen leaf

3. Place the leaf in a ziploc bag and use the chopstick to “write” the thing you want to let go of on the leaf. Press on the leaf through the ziploc bag firmly enough to see the marks on the leaf, but be careful not to tear the leaf.

Take the leaf outside. Focus on releasing what no longer serves you and recite the incantation below. Let go of the leaf and release it back to nature.

“The past I leave with this leaf,

let go of pain and summon peace”

A Little Humor for Your Day

Associated with the planet Mars

Zodiac sSgns of both Aries and Scorpio, and although Scorpio is a water sign,

Elemental correspondence of Fire.

All of these factors lead to a favorable time for energy work, creativity, justice work, spells for assertion—even to the extent of aggression. This would be a great day for any social justice advocacy spells, or even a baneful working if the need calls for it. Also, summoning courage, strength and passion for yourself or someone else would be favorable on this day.

Color orange for any candle magick.

Gods/Goddesses: Mars, the God of War, gives this day that added confrontational vibe. He is a god who takes no crap from anyone. Channeling him to help you tap into the assertive aspect of yourself will be helpful, especially if you are a person who struggles with implementing boundaries.

Joyful birthday wishes from Lady Carla Beltane with the WOTC Family and Friends!!

May the next year of your life bring you more love, laughter, joy, happiness, enough income to cover what you have to have along with a little leftover for fun! May it bring you everything you want if it is supposed to be and everything you need. May sorrow be unknown, and any negativity be minimal. May the wind always be at your back.

Being a Gemini born on June 16th, you seem to be one of those enthusiastic and dynamic people. You are always ready to expand your knowledge, whether this means reading something or through experience.

Your friends know that when you say that you will do something, that will surely happen. With a playful nature, you get along great with young people. Prepare to read a detailed horoscope profile below.

The zodiac sign for June 16 is Gemini.

Astrological symbol: Twins. This relates to a willful individual with meaningful strength and stamina. This is the symbol for people born between May 21 and June 20 when the Sun is considered to be in Gemini.

The Gemini Constellation is one of the twelve constellations of the zodiac, with the brightest star being Pollux. It lies between Taurus to the West and Cancer to the East, covering an area of only 514 square degrees between visible latitudes of +90° and -60°.

In Greece it is named Dioscuri while the Spanish call it Geminis. However, the Latin origin of the Twins, the June 16 zodiac sign is Gemini.

Opposite sign: Sagittarius. Partnerships between the Gemini and Sagittarius sun signs are considered auspicious and the opposite sign reflects upon the surrounding revelation and curiosity.

Modality: Mobile. This quality of those born on June 16 suggests diligence and orderliness and also offers a sense of their humoristic nature.

Ruling house: The third house. This means that Gemini is influenced towards communication, human interactions and extensive travelling. This house controls communication skills and thirst for knowledge through social contact.

Ruling body: Mercury. This celestial planet reveals fearlessness and enthusiasm and also highlights consciousness. Mercury is one of the seven classical planets that are visible to the naked eye.

Element: Air. This element suggests an emotional experimentation of life through each of its stages and a sense of approachability throughout for people born on June 16. When associated with the other three elements, it either heats, dissipates or smothers them.

Lucky day: Wednesday. This tidy day for those born under Gemini is ruled by Mercury thus symbolizes aspiration and solidification.

 Lucky numbers: 3, 7, 15, 19, 22.

 Motto: “I think!”

People born on June 16 are charming, adventurous and possess an extended expertise in many domains as they are genuinely curious. Just like a true Gemini, they are also playful and enthusiastic almost all the time. They appreciate the occasions to travel abroad and also making new friends. They dislike the feelings of permanence, boredom and loneliness. Those born under this sign enjoy social gatherings with a high number of people, like concerts or outdoor sport events.

Positive traits: Searching for adventure and trying to expand their horizon is the law these natives respect. This is what triggers their vivacity and optimism. They are also caring and warm hearted with their peers but only when their own emotional and social needs are being met. They are both tactful and direct and seem to adapt between these two quite easily but not necessarily in the way that is expected of them.

Negative traits: One of the things Gemini needs to learn is to show consistency in their actions. Those born on this day are restless and frequently superficial. They can be easily irritated and have moments when they are so self absorbed that it’s like there is no one else in the whole world but them. They tend to get hasty when faced with too many choice and hurry up with an answer without even considering all their options. They seem to be doing the same thing when the have to take more decisions at a time.

Love and Compatibility: Lovers born on June 16 are extremely attractive and versatile. They like to discover new persons and they seem to center all their life on a person but then suddenly they get bored and slip away. They are attracted to lively and imaginative persons who can keep up with their lifestyle. You can conquer the heart of Gemini if you know how to reveal your personality step by step so you always keep them guessing and wanting more. You also need to come to an understanding with their love of freedom and eccentricities.

They’re a gentle and reserved lover that would rather suffer from unrequited love than fight to win the heart of the one they love. Their relationships are likely to grow on friendships as they need time to know the person that stays beside them. Despite the fact that they are friendly and a generally happy person it is quite difficult for them to settle for someone, probably because they are expecting things to happen instead of making them happen. They are most compatible with those born on 1st, 2nd, 10th, 11th, 19th, 20th, 28th and 29th.

June 16 Zodiac people are most attracted to the other air signs: Libra and Aquarius as they tend to share the same vision of life. In love, Gemini is permanently seeking for someone who can truly listen to them and help them grow to their full potential and the best to offer this occasion is the native born under Sagittarius. The lover in Gemini is said to be least compatible with Taurus. As for the rest of partnerships between the other star signs and Gemini, you know what they say, stars predispose but people dispose.

Lucky Color: Yellow is the color said to be representative for Gemini people born with June 16.

Yellow as a hue, is the symbol of youth, light and happiness. This is the easiest to see color and it is associated with creativity and intellectual energy. This zodiac color should be used in objects that surround the natives.

People who have yellow as sign color are determined, intelligent and cheerful. They seem to take their energy from light and sunshine and are always on the go, always ready to take action and leadership.

Saturday Source: learnreligions.com

It’s the end of the week for many of us, so Saturday—named for the god Saturn—is a good time to wrap things up. Associated with the colors black and dark purple, and the metal lead, this day is also connected to the goddess Hecate. Gemstones like Apache tear, obsidian, and hematite are all connected to Saturday’s magic, as are plants such as thyme, mullein, and the cypress tree.

When it comes to magical workings, focus on agriculture and creativity, fortune and hope, protection and banishment of negativity. Put up a barrier to keep the unwelcome out, eliminate the things that make you miserable, and wash your hands of anything other than your hopes, dreams, and goals.

The following chant is a good all purpose chant that can be used for just about any spell:

Witches power burning bright, tarot, rune and blade,
Charge the spell, enfilled with might, here and now the magic’s made.
Wave and tree, hedge and flame, strength of the elements gather here,
Mystic Moon and Brilliant Sun, send your power here this way,

OTHILA

Separation, Withdrawal, Heir

This is the time of your ways separating. Old skin must shed, outdated relationships need to be given up.  If this rune appears, a “molting” is necessary.  Othila is a rune of the radical separation.  Obedience and probably also withdrawal is necessary – to know, when and how you need to withdraw, and to actually have the determination, to do it.  Property is also an aspect of this rune, because Othila is the rune of the acquisition and profit.  The profit however, that “heir”, which you receive, could likely be made of something that you need to abandon. This process can be especially hard if that what needs to be abandoned is something of your cultural heir and backing.  Not ‘rigidly’ but rather like a ‘river’ is the correct attitude to have.  And yet – you have to wait that the universe begins to act.

Ogham

Mor

Change, shift, the sea, maps, realm of the subconscious, great undercurrents

Tree: Witch hazel (Hamamelis spp.)

Letter: X

“Sea change” is a term for profound or holistic change. Change is the foundation of existence. The interplay of opposing forces creates and destroys ad infinitum. Mor bookends the concept of change introduced by the first Ogham, Beith. The intention that sowed an action reaped a habit, the habit reaped a character, and the character reaped a destiny. The new track in space has been laid and change is inevitable.

When you draw Mor, look for the changes in and around you. These are not necessarily good or bad. Often, drawing this Ogham can mean something as basic as “oh look, the season of Spring is arriving”. Mor doesn’t have to indicate any kind of drama, although it could. Mor calls out to you to look at overarching influences, new factors or people, and to examine the permutations and possibilities of how they affect the environment.

Mor is a bird’s eye view of opposing forces in our lives rather than being upswept by the random forces that weave in and out of our daily existences. Understanding your own subconscious gives you the ability to calmly deal with challenges that come your way. The work you do on understanding yourself is the sails you build on your boat in the great sea of life. You still need to figure out which way the wind is blowing, of course, but knowing a thing or two about your own position, your tendencies, desires, faults, and strengths will give you the power you need to dodge rocks and survive storms.

Some of the Witchcraft/Magickal Correspondences and More for Beltane

THREE RITUALS FOR BELTANE

Beltane is a cross-quarter holiday on the Wheel of the Year that honors the return of summer, the return of the fertility of the Earth, and the element of fire. It’s a nature-based holiday that many of our ancestors celebrated for a long time, and now we get to carry that tradition forward.

Like Samhain, Beltane is a time when the veil is thin. This holiday is a particularly beautiful time to connect with nature spirits, as well as any other beings you’re wanting to create a connection with.

At Beltane, we honor the goddess as part of us. We honor the body, pleasure, sensuality, and sexuality. We bask in the fiery energy of the sun and the fertile energy that’s present.
