Hyssop Cough Syrup

Hyssop Cough Syrup

Licorice flavored, soothes sore throats.
2 tbsp dried hyssop (flower tops) or 1/3 cup fresh hyssop (chopped flowers)
1/4 cup water
1 cup honey
1 tsp aniseed

In a saucepan combine honey and water. Stir until the mixture is consistency of pancake syrup. Bring slowly to a boil (over a medium heat). Skim off any scum that rises to the surface.

Use 1-2 tbsp water to moisten the dried hyssop. Crush the aniseed. Stir both into the honey. Cover and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes. Remove from heat, uncover, and allow to cool. While the mixture is still a little warm, strain into a jar. When completely cooled, screw on the lid. Should keep for 1 week.

WATER SCRYING

WATER SCRYING

You will need a large, deep bowl made from glass, brass or silver. It must have a smooth and even rim.

You must set your base on some sort of tripod for best results. A tripod made of laural boughs is the best.

You will need to do your own testing to find out which bowl works best for you and how much water you should use. Do not use water from a tap. Get clean, fresh water from a stream.

The ancient Greeks believed that nature spirits dwelled in fresh water. The water may be stored in a vessel and used again.

However it is a good idea to replace your water once a month. Never collect the water of a day time. Water should only be collected at night preferably on a full moon.

To make your wand use a branch from a bay tree, hazel tree or the laurel. The end of the wand should be covered in dry tree sap or resin.

Dip the end of the wand into the water until it becomes wet. Wet the rims of the bowl.

The best time to scy is at night when it is quite. By gently drawing the rim of the wand around the bowl it will cause it to resonate.

The action of the resonating basin will cause circular ripples to form in the basin. The water seems to breathe with the sounds.

It is the harmonics that seem to whisper forth predictions of the future. These are interpreted with the help of a guardian angel.

You may also receive visual impressions which Nostradamus likened to that of a “burning mirror”.

Life As The Witch – Water Magick for Autumn

Water Magick for Autumn

The Wheel of the Year begins to make its final turn and now we enter the twilight of the year. The spirit world is closer to us nnow. Autumn water magick, includes working with spiritual energies, contacting ancestors, scrying and harvest blessings.

Since ancient times, it has been believed that spirits of the deceased make their journey to the Otherside by water. So it would be appreciate to use water to contact a deceased loved one. Begin by writing a latter to your loved one, using white paper and black ink. Either in the early morning or at dusk go to a quiet body of water such as a pond–if it’s a foggy or misty that’s even better. Kneel at the water’s edge, fold your letter, and let it float away. If there are any fallen leaves upon the water, you may place your letter on them instead. Your message has been received.

Scrying at this time of year by using water can be very effective. Fill your cauldron or a dark colored bowl with water, drop a silver coin into the water, and gaze at the ripples. Allow your eyes to focus on the coin and begin to gaze at the water. If you wish, perform this ritual after dark outside during a Full Moon. Using the water and the Moon together will aid your psychic powers.

Since colonial times, as the harvest season cam to a close, water ws used to anoint the last stand of grain to ensure a bountiful crop the following year. You can do this in your own garden. Simply leave one plant stand in your garden. This could be one herb, tomato plant or a flower. Before a killing frost, sprinkle this plant with water you’ve blessed. Don’t removed this plant until next Spring.

Fire and Water Energizing Ritual

Fire and Water Energizing Ritual

Tired, feeling worn out, no energy, need a quick energy boost. Then this spell is what you are looking for. It will revitalize you and make you feel like a new person. And the best thing about it, you can use it anytime you are feeling run down.

*Sit in a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed–the best spot is outdoors near a body of water.

*Close your eyes, begin breathing slowly and deeply as you relax and center yourself.

*Imagine your spine is a tree trunk sending its roots deep, down into the earth’s center.

*Envision water (in the form of blue-green light) being drawn by these roots up through the base of your spine, into your body. See and feel the water flowing up your spine, through your chakras, cleansing, calming, and nourishing you. Imagine it spouting out the top of your head like a fountain and washing down over your body. Do this at least three times.

*Visualize the sun’s golden rays shining down on you and entering a portal in the top of your head. Sense these rays clearing away impurities and warming your body all the way down to the tips of your toes. Feel your breath mixing with the sunlight and swirling though your body to energize every cell. Continue this visualization for a few minutes, until you feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

Today’s I Ching Hexagram for October 1 is 49: Revolutionary Change

49: Revolutionary Change

Hexagram 49

General Meaning:  According to Chinese symbolism, the juxtaposed elements of this hexagram are fire under water. Fire evaporates water, and water puts out fire. Change can cause conflict; conflict brings about change. This hexagram refers to that time in the cycle of human affairs when things need stirring up, and when the hint of dramatic change is in the air.

In order to succeed, revolutionary change must be in alignment with certain unchanging laws. The process must begin at the right moment, gather support from a broad base of people, be guided by sincere and capable leadership and — most important of all — must address a real need. The strength of the forces of change will always be in proportion to the urgency of the need being championed. This is true whether the revolution is in government, in business, in education or in one’s personal affairs.

Revolutionary change points to a time when chaos arises from order. It is important to realize that not all order is good, not all chaos bad. Chaos, in fact, is an integral part of the way of things — as any parent (and modern science) will confirm. Have the courage to radically change and renew the way you present yourself. In this way, you can summon chaos to your cause, and you will unleash a new power on your behalf. If engaging in a negotiation, change the rules; if composing a piece of music, add the unexpected; if courting a lover, dare to be unconventional.

In periods of drought, even wild storms are preferable to yet another sunny day.

Day of Mimir’s Well

Colors: Midnight blue and white
Element: Water
Altar: Upon cloth of midnight blue set three white candles, a bowl of stones and well water, a silver cup of mead, and the figure of a human skull set upon a long tail of spun white hair.
Offerings: Secret offerings, unspoken.

Invocation to Mimir’s Well

We stand before the sacred well of dark wisdom
And we ask the Presence deep within
What he would give us, if we desire.
(All call out: “Hail Mimir, Keeper of the Well of the Ancestors!”)
Would you sacrifice an eye for this wisdom,
Forever seeing only from the focus of the archer?
Would you sacrifice both eyes, and live in darkness
In exchange for the light of knowing what will be?
Would you give up your ears, and hear nothing
But the music of the heavenly cycles?
(All call out: “Hail Mimir, Keeper of the Well of the Ancestors!”)
Would you give up your legs, and never walk
That you might follow in a path of silent knowledge?
Would you give up the work of your hands
That you might work only with what lies behind your eyes
And what lies behind the eyes of the universe?
Would you give up your life itself
And live only to be a channel for this truth?
(All call out: “Hail Mimir, Keeper of the Well of the Ancestors!”)
What would you give for knowing the day
Of your death, and that of everyone else’s?
What would you give for the knowledge
That might stop one death, one day of pain, one night of fear?
Hail Mimir, you who see into the heart and mind
From the blind darkness of your depths,
And who giveth nothing without its worthy price.
(All call out: “Hail Mimir, Keeper of the Well of the Ancestors!”)

Chant: We Go Into the well of Silence
(Each comes forth and stares into the bowl of stones and water, and then steps away. The mead is poured into the libation well as an offering to Mimir.)

Spell of the Day for Aug. 9: Breaking a Love Curse

Breaking a Love Curse

Many people believe that they may possibly be under a curse or spell that controls them, or prevents them from attracting a positive loving relationship. If you believe this is the case, there is a simple way to break this. First remember that the only way you are cursed, is if you Believe you are cursed. By believing this, you place more energy into creating that condition around you. So to break all this, do the following:

On a Friday night (the day of Venus) – Take a bath. Have candles lit and keep an amethyst and a rose quartz nearby. Remember to “set the mood” for a relaxing bath.

After meditating in the bath for a while, see yourself filling with white light. Notice any areas on your body (do this within your mind) where there may be a block, or a darker light – visualize as much as you can, more white light filling up those areas.

After you have done this, take the amethyst in your projective hand – and place alll you disappointments, jealousy, hate and sadness into it. See in your mind, and feel your emotions completely, let it all out, into the stone. When you have had just about as much as you can with this, drop the stone into the water and stand up. Let the drain out, seeing the water go down, and wipe the water down, off your body with your hands. As you do this, see all the chains that have bound you, the curse you feel or the pain you have suffered being wiped away and draining with the water. See the stone you dropped into the water emptying all that energy you placed into it, down into the drain.

Pick up your rose quartz, and say something like this:

“Now that I am cleansed of hate. Love can come to me, don’t wait!”

Holding the rose quartz in your hand, feel the energy from the stone, and visualize love and happiness in your life. Know that you are free from binding chains and spells. KNOW that you have love in your life. See it as if it has already come to you, and feel the emotion of love within you. The curse is broken. Carry the stone with you, to remind you of your freedom and the love you have in your life.

Neptunalia

Element: Water
Altar: Set with sea-colored cloths, figures of dolphins, the figure of a ship, a compass, and a great bowl of salt water.
Offerings: Sea salt. Face some emotion that seems overwhelming to you.
Daily Meal: Fish. Seafood. Seaweed.

Invocation to Neptune

Great Bull from the Sea
Crashing against the rocks
Master of the waves and depths
Foaming horses champing wild
Break against the yielding shore
And you, Lord of bitter brine,
Sink not our ships as they make their way
From safe harbor to safe harbor.
Show us the depths of our own souls
As you know the depths of the ocean itself,
And give us safe passage there as well.
Save us from the whirlpool and the drowning tides,
Save us from the circling predators
That would drag us to the bottom.
Earth-shaker, loudest voice
In the world between heaven and underworld,
The voice that booms up from the depths
Of every water-borne soul.

Chant:
Earth-Shaker
Storm Maker
Lord of the Wave

(The compass is then passed from hand to hand, and each person in turn says, “Guide me in my navigations, Lord of the Unending Waters, and bring me safe home again.” The bowl of salt water is then passed hand to hand, and each splashes a bit onto their heads. The rest is poured out as a libation.)

The Wicca Book of Days for July 9th – Watery Associations

The Wicca Book of Days for July 9th

Watery Associations

The element that is linked with this zodiacal day of Cancer is water, to which astrological tradition ascribes many associations. According to the theory of the four “humors” that were once said to circulate the human body, for instance, water’s equivalent was the cold, moist phlegmatic humor, an excess of which could make a person unresponsive, unemotional, and placid. The alchemical (as well as magickal) symbol for water is the downward-pointing triangle, which symbolizes a vessel, such as a chalice, or womb ( and note that water is deemed to be feminine in the laws of alchemy).

Toast Dionysus!

Many Wiccans celebrate the birth of the Greco-Roman God of the vine Dionysus (or the Roman Bacchus) on July 9. And how better to honor this “twice-born” deity than to pour yourself a glass of blood-red grape juice or wine, raise it to grateful salute, and savor it!

Self Purification Spell

Self Purification Spell

Items needed: salt a bowl of bottled spring water or New Moon Water jasmine or lavender incense

Procedure:

Cast a circle, then invoke the elements and the Gods.

Sit quietly and think about what you want to clear out of your aura.  When you are ready, add three good-sized pinches of salt to the water and stir widdershins (counter clockwise). Breathe deep into the bowl and as you do, let your fears and doubts  pour into the water. Breathe them into the salt water where they will dissolve away.

Do this until you feel that the negative energy has passed out of your body.

Hold the bowl into the air and visualize a gold or white light flowing into the water,  transforming the negative vibrations and cleansing them.  Carry the bowl to the sink and flush the water down the sink with cold, running water.  Smudge yourself with either jasmine or lavender incense (or another scent that promotes  peace) and open the circle.

Infusion Purification Spell

Infusion Purification Spell

Collect equal parts (about a handful each) of dried marjoram, bay and rosemary.

Heat a gallon of water until it is almost boiling, remove it from the heat and toss the  herbs into the water. Cover and allow to cool.

Strain the herbs from the water and, using your fingers, sprinkle the infusion throughout the house.

Move in a clockwise direction, visualizing evil and unwarrented influences leaving the area and say something like the following:

I banish evil and negativity; This is my will, So Mote It Be!

Touch the water to the doors and windows, appliances and furniture, outside around the  home and on the surrounding property. Be sure to pour some down the drains as well.  Visualize the water cleansing the whole area.

Daily Feng Shui Tip for June 21 – ‘World Handshake Day’

On ‘World Handshake Day’ I want to share a way of making sure that anytime anyone asks you ‘how do you do?’ the answer is always ‘perfectly fine!’ The following is an old Russian exercise that will help to lighten up the vibes of your body while shaking off energetic impurities. Lie on your back and lift your arms and your legs so that they are at a 45-degree angle to your body. At the same time, shake your extremities as if you were a dog shaking water from its coat. Inhale deeply, and as you exhale, clench your fists forcefully so that you hands literally vibrate from the tension. Hold this tension until you are finished exhaling. Do this eight to ten times. Not only will your own anger, negativity and emotional overload diminish, but it could conceivably completely disappear! Wash your hands under cold running water as soon as you are done, allowing the water to pour down from the elbows to your hands before drying them. Hands and shaking both leading to a happier, healthier you!
