Home Harmony Floor Wash

Items you will need:

  • A bucket or similar container
  • Essential oil of tangerine
  • Essential oil of grapefruit
  • Bach Rescue Remedy
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • A mop
  • A mister (if you have carpet)

Fill the bucket with water and add 4 drops of tangerine, 4 drops of grapefruit, 4 crops of Rescue Remedy, and 1 teaspoon sea salt. Stir in a clockwise direction. Put your hands in prayer position, close your eyes, and say:

“Goddess of Hearth and Home, please infuse

this wash with harmonious vibrations and

powerfully establish the qualities of peace, joy,

and happiness within these walls. Thank you!”

Visualize very bright, sparkly, golden-white light filling the mixture. If you have carpet, put some of the mixture in the mister. Mop all the hard floors, including the front porch and doorstep if applicable and possible, and lightly mist the carpets. You can also mist the doorstep/front porch if you were not able to mop that area.

A Broom Blessing

Your broom is not merely your broom, it is your magickal broom. As it sweeps your floors clean of physical debris, it sweeps your home clean of negative energy and energetic debris, which lifts the vibrations and clears the way for positive feelings and conditions. Performing this blessing ritual on your broom (and/or vacuum which is merely a modernized version of a broom) will fully activate in magickal power and consecrate it for you magickal purposes.

What you will need:

  • A white sheet or towel
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • One stick Frankincense incense
  • One white or off-white candle
  • A mister of rose water

On the day or evening of the Full Moon, assemble the items and lay your broom flat on the white sheet or towel. Light the candle and incense. Lift the broom and bathe it in the smoke of the incense while saying:

“I call on the power of Air to bless this broom.”

Now hold the broom over the flame (being very careful not to set it on fire) and say:

“I call on the power of Fire to bless this broom.”

Lay the broom back onto the cloth and lightly mist it with the rose water (one pump will do) while saying:

“I call on the power of Water to bless the broom.”

Sprinkle the salt  over the broom and say:

“I call on the power of Earth to bless this broom.”

When you feel ready, gently shake and dust the salt off the broom and onto the cloth. Lift the broom and hold it in both hands. Close your eyes and feel the awakened magickal power of the broom. Next, envision very bright white light flowing down from above, through the top of your head, and throughout your body. See this light also flowing into the broom, as if the broom is an extension of your energy field. After a moment, say:

“This broom is now consecrated and blessed. Blessed Be. So Mote It Be.”

Extinguish the candle and incense. Shake the salt from the cloth into the bathtub and put the cloth in the laundry.

As the sun emerges above the horizon, fill your awareness with brightening hues of the sky and rejoice in the beauty of the new day. Feel the golden rays of the sun warm your face and allow hope to fill your heart and refresh your spirit. You have started the day well.
 
If the weather is poor or you are unable to get a clear view of the sunrise, visualize the dawn instead.

Thoughts for Thursday, Oct. 20 – Things I’ve Learned

  • I’ve learned that no matter what happens, or how it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.


  • I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.


  • I’ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you’ll miss them when they’re gone from your life.

I hope everyone is having a great day, today! I know it is fantastic here. For the last couple of days, it has been nothing but rainy and gloomy. I don’t know about you, but the gloomy weather messes with my emotions. I get draggy and I don’t want to do a darn thing. Except this time was different, I got my days and nights screwed up. That is why the posting has been so poor. I found myself falling asleep at the computer. Then I would get so sleepy, I couldn’t do anymore. So I would have to get up and go to bed. But I would wake up at night and clean the heck out of the house. My husband would ask me what I was doing up at 2:30 in the morning cleaning the shower out. If the world would cooperate and go on my schedule, I would love it, lol! You know everybody sleeping during the day and prowling at night. But I have always been a night person and it doesn’t take much for me to get turned around. I wanted to let you know why the posting had been off and also to apologize for it. I won’t say it won’t happen again because I know it will. Just the next time you will know what is going on.

Spirit Runes are most commonly used for questions about mysticism, spirituality, and religion. Gebo means gift, and like any gifts, the rune may be understood on many levels. Gifts are generally positive things, for both the giver and the recipient. In many cultures however, gifts and favors carry with them an obligation to respond in kind. It is for this reason that gifts, and hence the rune Gebo, are frequently symbolic of friendships, marriages, alliances, mergers, and other bonds between people or organizations. Gebo is a strong rune and the unions represented are strong as well. Moreover, Gebo is not reversible, as true friendships are not easily undone.

Putting yourself first means that it may be necessary to say no to someone else in order to say yes to yourself.

We have all heard the instructions of an airline attendant reminding us to put on our own oxygen mask before we help anyone else with theirs. This advice is often cited as a metaphor for self-care because it so accurately expresses why it is important. It seems to say, ironically, that if you can’t take care of yourself for yourself, do it for others. Few situations in our daily lives mimic the wake-up call of an airplane emergency, so it’s easy to keep putting self-care off—easy, that is, until we get sick, overwhelmed, or exhausted, and suddenly don’t have the energy to care for the people who count on us. That’s when we realize we haven’t been getting the oxygen we need to sustain ourselves. We begin to understand that taking care of ourselves is neither selfish nor indulgent; it’s just plain practical.

Putting yourself first means that it may be necessary to say no to someone else in order to say yes to yourself. For many of us, there is always something we feel we could be doing for someone else, and it helps to remember the oxygen metaphor. You can even encourage yourself by saying “I am caring for myself so that I am better able to care for others” or some other mantra that will encourage you. It also helps to remember that self-care doesn’t have to be composed of massively time-consuming acts. In fact, the best prescription for taking care of yourself is probably small, daily rituals; for example, taking one half-hour for yourself at the beginning and end of the day to meditate, journal, or just be. You might also transform the occasional daily shower or bath into a half-hour self-pampering session.

Whatever you decide, making some small gesture where you put yourself first every day will pay off in spades for you and the ones you love. The oxygen you need is all around you; sometimes you just need to be reminded to breathe.

Five-Candle Spell for Creativity (Blood/Harvest Moon)

The purpose of this spell is to enhance and excite your creativity through ritual and dream.

You will need your wand, a ballpoint pen, two green candles, two red candles, a white candle and music conductive to dream magick.

After dark, draw a magick circle and call in the Elements. Write Copper/Venus on one green candle, and write Lead/Saturn on the other green candle. Write Tin/Jupiter on one red candle and Iron/Mars on the other one. Then, write Quicksilver/Mecury on the white candle. Imagine a pentacle on your altar, and at the top of the pentacle place the white candle and its holder. On the arm and leg on the left side, place the two green candles and on the right side place the red candles. As you light each candle, repeat:

“Copper tin, lead, iron, and mercury
Come empower my divine creativity.”
 

Turn on the music. Use your magick wand to draw a clockwise line of light around the parameter of the pentacle, connecting all of the candles together. As you do so, say:

“Copper, tin, lead iron and mercury
Let this star shine with divine creativity.”
 

Let the candles burn safely down and leave the circle until the morning. Play your dream magick music as you drift off to sleep. Give yourself the suggestion that your dreams will be especially creative tonight. In the morning, write down any dreams you have, bid farewell to the Elements, and pull up the circle.

The above photo was taken while making light pollution measurements over Berlin, Germany as part of the Verlust der Nacht project. It nicely illustrates the differences between natural (moonlight) and artificial night lighting. It’s obvious that artificial street lights have different color spectra from that of moonlight; some street lamps emit discrete spectral lines rather than a continuous spectrum as produced by the Sun or Moon. Note the glint of moonlight off of Langer See, a part of Berlin’s Spree River system. The high reflectivity of water at large incident angles makes it very easy to distinguish the lake from the shoreline. Photo taken on July 14, 2011 — the Moon was one day shy of being fully illuminated.

Before you go to sleep, turn on soft instrumental music. Lie back and get comfortable. Slowly inhale, filling your insides with air. Hold your breath momentarily before exhaling until all the air has left your lungs. Do several more deep breaths, each time becoming more relaxed and aware of your inner sensations.

 

Let your mind move like a spotlight searching out any negative energy that you may be harboring from the day. Gather up all these troubled feelings and move them downward into your legs and feet. With your mind, open up the drain at the tips of your big toes, and begin letting all those negative feelings drain out of you.

 

Now plug up the hold in your feet and open a larger hole located on the top of your head. Steams of white light pour into the crown of your head and begin pouring down into your throat and heart areas. Soon your entire body is filled with this white light that can transform into anything you need from courage to love. As you drift to sleep, imagine being filled with this white light.

In this spell, you will use the different elements to help you shift shapes into different animals and magickal beings.

You will need a clear quartz crystal, cedar incense, a green candle and a chalice of water. Begin by staring deep within the crystal. Merge (become one) with it and say:

Elemental powers of earth

Transform and shift within me

So Mote It Be!

 

Light the incense, and merge with the smoke as it glides lightly through the air, while you say:


Elemental powers of air

Transform and shift within me

So Mote It Be!

 

Light the candle and merge into the flame as you say:

Elemental powers of fire

Transform and shift within me

So Mote It Be!

 

Stare deep within the chalice of water. Merge with it and say:

Elemental powers of water

Transform and shift within me

Lie back and meditate as the power of the elements shifts you into different animals. You become a bear emerging from its cave, a bird spreading its wings on the wind, a dragon breathing fire out of its nostrils, and a water sprite frolicking in the mist of a waterfall.

Use this mist to fill you with the vitality of the Goddess.
 
You will need one cup of distilled water, three drops of lavender essential oil, one drop of rose essential oil, one drop of chamomile essential oil, and a white candle. Mix all the ingredients together in a spray bottle. As you shake the bottle, chant:
 
Great Goddess of eternal life
Invigorate this liquid with your divine light.
 
Light the candle and place the bottle of mist in front of the candle so that the light shines through it. Stare deep into the liquid and merge with it. Energize the mist with the vitality and divine life force of the bright Goddess. Close your eyes and spray the mist over your face. As your spray it on yourself, sense the light of the Goddess glowing within you and all around you.

Blood/Harvest Moon Dream Bath

Take this bath to magickally cleanse and purify your body.
 
You will need three tablespoons of sea salt, three tablespoons of baking soda, three drops of lavender oil, and three drops of rosemary oil.
 
Fill the bathtub with warm water. As you add the sea salt to the bath, say:
 
“With this salt from the sea
I banish all negativity.”
 
Add the baking soda and say:
 
“This soda cleanses all energy
That has in any way attached to my body.”
 
Add the three drops of lavender oil and three drops of rosemary oil while saying:
 
“Sweet oils of the giving Goddess
Fill this bath with your divine goodness.”
 
Take your hand and mix the salt, soda, and oil into the bath water. Lie back in the tub and sense the healing effects of the salt and soda as it neutralizes any acid on your skin while cleansing your body of any built up energy. Let the effect of the oil recharge your being and refresh you with a feeling that is divine.

Season Ritual

This is a ritual for Hallows. I was thinking that, if he’s willing, my husband and I could do this together, late at night after our
children are done with trick or treat and fast asleep.
 
Intent: Banish our fears and inspire our hopes for the new year
Need: Jack-O-Lantern already lit
black and white candles
Paper and pen/pencil for each person
Bowl of cooked pumpkin seeds (from Jack-O-Lantern)
Cauldron/pot for burning paper
 
Fold papers in half lengthwise. Then on the left half, write fears you’d like to banish and on the right half write your hopes for the future. Then light the black candle to represent banishing the fears. Tear the sheet in half and take the fear half and light it on fire from the Jack-O-Lantern. Light the white candle to represent your hopes. If you are doing this with a partner, take turns reading out loud your hopes and eat a pumpkin seed for each one. Hang your lists of hopes somewhere you can read them everyday.

Using Tree Magick

 

You can use trees in magick in countless ways, the most basic by touching a tree with both hands, palms flat against the trunk and asking for its particular powers to enter you. This is another way of tuning into the different strengths of various trees.

 

Collect twigs from different trees or small hand-carved items made of the different woods and use them as charms to bring the powers you need into your life.

 

You can empower these with salt, incense, candle flame or water if you wish, though the natural wood is already powerful.

 

Craft fairs are an excellent source of small hand-carved items, as are ethnic stores that give a fair price to crafts people.

 

Carry a different wood when you need its particular strength.

 

You can also burn incenses and oils made from different trees (where possible, use natural plant products) and state aloud nine times the power you seek from the tree fragrance as you write your needs in the air with the smoke from an incense stick.

 

You can eat seeds, nuts and fruits from different trees or use products made from the blossoms in your bath to absorb the magickal strengths into your life. Natural tree, as well as flower and herbal products used in the kitchen give your home protection and harmony – and are much better for the environment than many of the alternatives.

 

Finally you can burn two or three of the woods in a fire dish, barbecue or open fire to release the qualities you need. Create chants or a simple phrase or two incorporating the names of the chosen trees and what you seek from them.

 

Making the Tree a Place of Power

Outdoors, your tree will be naturally cleansed and empowered by the weather and if some of the items get battered, don’t worry, However, you may wish initially to cleanse and empower the tree and any artifacts on it at the first full moon after it has been created. You can do this by smudging round the tree with a smudge stick made of a bundle of tied and dried herb sticks. The following is the basic technique for doing this:

  • Light one end of the smudge stick and let the flames die down, then gently blow on the end until it glows red and you have a stream of smoke. You can use your other hand to fan the smoke.  Smudge sticks are generally held in your power hand.
  • If indoors, be careful about sparks and ventilate the room. Also try to stand where you can see the moon or at least the sky through the window. Indoors, you can substitute a sage or pine incense stick if you wish.
  • To cleanse and empower the tree, stand facing the tree at about five paces distance. Raise your smudge stick upwards to the sky and downwards to the earth.
  • Walk nine times clockwise round the tree, making alternative clockwise and anticlockwise spirals of smoke, high and low, stamping your feet as you move and chant.
  • Relax and enjoy the experience. Let your feet carry you, often in a spontaneous spiralling step movement, as you connect with earth energies and your hand weaves smoke patterns. Work barefoot if possible as you have sensitive energy centers or chakras in the soles of your feet.
  • Say continuously until you have made nine circuits:

Empowering tree, be for me, strength and healing. Keep away harm, guard what is dear, and keep love near.

  • You can repeat this ritual whenever you add something new to the tree or before using it as the focus for a personal spell or chant. Re-empower every third full moon.

Creating a Magickal Tree

You can create your own, albeit more modest but nevertheless magickal, world tree in your garden.

You can use any tree or a large bush as long as it has plenty of branches. Indoors, you can use a large ornamental tree or bush. Alternatively, use large, stripped-wood branches indoors or set them in soil. Wherever it is located, you magickal tree acts as a protective force to repel harm from your property.

You can start the tree with just one or two items. You will need some of the following:

  • A witch ball or colored-glass fishing float that reflects the garden and shines in sunlight. These are both protective and empowering. Witch balls resemble huge  Christmas baubles and come from the American folk tradition. You can make one by painting a glass sphere with metallic paint or buy one from a New Age shop or website.
  • Fishing floats make a transparent glass are on sale in antique stores or garage sales, but increasingly in gift shops and houseware stores. Hang two or three of them from the tree.
  • Mirrors. These need only be small to reflect the flow of the life force round the garden and repel all harm. You can use ordinary round mirrors or Chinese lucky Bagua mirrors that display the old Chinese symbols for eight natural forces that together energize the universe and our lives. Convex ones that curve outwards are especially protective.
  • Outdoors, nets of seeds and nuts or fat balls bring wild birds to the tree. This is especially important if the tree itself is not living.
  • Symbols of fertility and prosperity. Fill small raffia baskets with long handles with coins, sparking crystals like yellow citrine and clear crystal quartz or dried herbs like sage, rosemary and thyme that bring abundance to the garden with your home. You can often buy ornamental baskets set with wooden or ceramic fruits and flowers. Look in ethnic stores.
  • Small metal birds (you can sometimes buy them made of recycled metal). They will gleam in the light and encourage the circulation of positivity.
  • Feathers on cords to encourage positive change and the free-flowing life force.
  • Seasonal flowers, again especially important if the tree itself is not living. These can be weaved into circlets or use as garlands secured with twine. Keep these fresh and replace regularly.
  • Sun catchers, crystals or polished glass stones on chains.
  • Ribbons tied on the tree for different wishes. Secure the ribbon with three knots on to the tree and make your wish. Use ribbons that are not synthetic.
  • Use the following list when choosing the colors of items to put on to your magickal tree:

Blue:  Justice, career, travel and house moves

Brown:  Animals, property, finances and officialdom

Green:  Love and fidelity, for gradual increase in health, alternative healing, prosperity and to heal the planet

Orange:  Creativity and fertility

Pink:  Children, new or first love, peace, peaceful dreams and reconciliation

Purple:  Psychic awareness, peace, alternative healing and for protection

Red:  Passion and change

Yellow:  Learning and anything that needs to happen fast or temporarily in your life; also for conventional healing

Lady A’s Spell Of The Day for Oct. 11th: Turn The Tables Spell

Is someone making your life difficult? Turn the tables on that person with the spell below.

Best time to perform this spell:

  • Anytime

Items you will need:

  • A candle
  • A candle holder
  • A small mirror
  • A photo of your tormentor (if possible)
  • Matches

 

  • Place the candle in its holder and set it on top of the photo at one end of a table. If you can’t obtain a photo, inscribe your enemy’s name on the candle – the candle represents the person who’s causing you trouble.
  • Light the candle, then seat yourself at the other end of the table.
  • Hold the mirror so that it reflects the flame and say aloud:

“Behold this mirror is my shield. Your wicked way will be revealed. Any evil that you do will instantly turn back on you.”

  • Imagine the mirror deflecting harm away from you and back onto the other person.
  • When you’ve finished, snuff out the candle.
  • Hang the mirror on the outside of the door to your home or office to ward off unwanted energies.
  • Melt the candle completely and bury the residue along with the photo far from your home.

Lighting Smudge

  • Use long matches or a candle but do not get wax on the smudge.
  • Light the tip of the smudge.
  • Let the flame die down and then blow the stick until the end glows red and smoke begins to curl upwards. Take time to get it really smoking well, especially outdoors on damp days.
  • If you are using candles at the quarters of a circle in ritual, you can briefly hold the smudge into each flame in turn as you address the quarters.
  • Keep a fire source like a candle in a safe holder near where you are smudging. If the stick goes out, you can relight it any time during the ritual, adding a blessing at the same time.
