Elder’s Meditation of the Day August 7
“Everything I know I learned by listening and watching.”
–Vernon Cooper, LUMBEE
Sometimes my mind is talking so fast about so many different things that I can’t slow it down. All day long I am judging and making assumptions about everything.
Great Spirit, help me this day to slow down. Help me to listen – quietly. Help me to watch carefully. Help me to listen to my inner voice. Let me listen and watch only the thing You would have me observe. Guide my eyes and my ears to be focused on You. Grandfather, love me today and teach me to be quiet.

The Five-Pointed Star
The pentacle is a symbol of cosmic union, composed of two interlocking triangles. The narrow triangle pointing upward indicates the masculine heaven principle; the wider, central triangle pointing downward, the feminine earth principle. Meditating on the pentacle aligns you with the cosmos., harmonizing the complementary energies of masculine and feminine within your nature.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day August 4
“Telling about our lives is important for those who come after as, for those who will see our experience as part of their own historical struggle.”
–Linda Hogan, CHICKASAW
How important it is for us to support one another. How important it is for us to know our culture and to share our experiences with one another. How powerful it is to be authentic. How important it is to hold no secrets. I am as sick as my secrets.
Grandfather, allow me today to be willing to share with my brother and sister. Let my eyes see You in their eyes. Let me not judge them but only love them. Grandfather, help me, for I am Your humble servant.

My intuition is the sensitive radar of the Spirit. With its aid I can fly a true course through any storm.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.
Confucius (951 – 479 BCE)
Today’s Meditation for Thursday, March 29th
On your journey through life there will be times when troubled feelings threaten to blow you off course. At such times sit quietly in meditation and be aware of the storm. Watch the waves of negative thoughts and feelings as they wash over you. Accept their presence rather than trying to avoid them. By observing the turbulence, rather than identifying with it, you move into the eye of the storm – the stillness at its center. From this vantage point, watch the storm gradually die down, replaced by the clear blue skies of a relaxed mind.
Today’s Affirmation for March 21
As I begin to explore new territories of the self, the shell of my false self-image begins to fracture under the pressure of my growth. I emerge – a newly hatched chick. I look forward to the adventure of learning.

Anyone who claims to be not yet ready or else past the age for philosophy is like the person who claims to be too young or too old for happiness.

Today’s Meditation for March 21
Wisdom of the Family
The family has much to teach us about ourselves and the world, in your mind’s eye, visualize a tall tree whose branches reach up into the clouds. Looking up at the tree you see the members of your family sitting on the branches. You begin to climb the tree, stopping to converse with your relatives long the way. Ask them what lessons they have to teach you.
I have everything I need for a full, rich, happy life. My inner resources are abundant. I have plenty of support, for which I offer thanks.
When we embark on a new experience, we may shiver with fear or sweat with desire. Better to live in harmony, at the temperature of our surroundings.
The Peace Table
Practice this meditation before a family gathering to bring a spirit of goodwill to the occasion. Visualize the dining table with your family members seated around it. Mentally go around the table, stopping at each person in turn to reflect on your relationship with them. Is there any tension between you? How can it be resolved? Imagine yourself settling the differences between you wherever possible. Bring the sense of peace generated by these reconciliations with you to the meal.
I rejoice in the spirit, which is changeless. I am happy in my loving independence of the material world.
Pain creates new territory for the spirit. We are all pioneers of pain. Our lives on the frontier are the history of our people.
Your Inner Sanctuary
This is a place inside where you can go to reconnect with your spirit. Closed your eyes and visualize a tranquil landscape. In this place, imagine building a sanctuary that reflects the beauty of your spirit. The materials you require appear as if by magick. Once you have built, decorated and finished your sanctuary, sit for a few moments inside. Feel peace descend as you connect peace descend as you connect with yourself once more.
As I begin to explore new territories of the self, the shell of my false self-image begins to fracture under the pressure of my growth. I emerge – newly hatched chick. I look forward to the adventure of learning.
Thought of the Day
The best preacher is the heart; the best teacher is time; the best book is he world; the best friend is the Goddess.
The Living Library
Meditate on a vast library. It is a monument to the greatest minds that have ever existed – for books are living things, which immortalize the most profound thinking of humanity. Even the littlest book earns its place there, because the library welcomes all books that are well-intentioned. Imagine your own best thoughts living on in the memories of the friends and family to whom you have expressed them. Your words have seeded, rooted and flowered in happy recollections.
My aim in life is to learn what I can from my experiences, to act on that learning and by my example to share what I have learned with others.
Like a shoal of fish swimming as one within the ocean, humankind is bound together by a common destiny. While finding your own path in life, draw strength from the knowledge that everyone around you is also on a journey. You are never wholly alone.
One Step At A Time
Practice this meditation whenever you feel paralyzed by fear and unable to move forward with your life.
Stand in the middle of a room, close your eyes and visualize the source of your fear ahead of you.
Bring your attention to your body. Notice how you are feeling. Breathe deeply, allowing yourself to be with your feelings without fighting them.
When you feel more comfortable, take a step toward the source of your fear.
Continue to repeat steps 2 and 3 so that by gradually acclimatization you overcome the obstacles that prevent you from moving forward.
The well-worn path is comfortable and easy, but leads nowhere. The less-travelled path is stony and hard, but will bring me to peace.
“Our real blessings often appear to us in the shapes of pains losses and disappointments: but let us have patience and we soon shall see them in their proper figures.”
Joseph Addison (1672 – 1719)
Your Guardian Angel
People of many religions report encounters with angels – mystical beings who rescue them from danger. This meditation introduces you to your angel/guardian so that you can call on him or her in times of need. First light a candle to welcome the light of your angel/guardian into our life. Sit before the candle with your hands in your lap, palms upward – this position indicates your willingness to accept divine intervention in your life. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to relax your body. As you sit there become aware of a presence behind you, exuding warmth and comfort. Feel yourself embraced by the presence. Draw strength from the sense of security this brings you.

Meditation of the Day for Thursday, Feb. 9th
Focus On Inner Stillness
In the eye of a storm there is stillness. However chaotic, difficult or painful things appear, there remains a still point, an emptiness, at the core of your being where you can find peace. To find this place, close your eyes and turn you attention inward. Initially, observe the myriad pinpricks of flickering light that penetrate through your eyelids. Withdrawing. Deeper into yourself, the light recedes as you enter the vast space at the heart of your being – a place darker than darkness yet rich with potental, the sacred womb from which all things are born. It is here that you will find peace.

A Map of Life’s Road
Perform this meditation to help you negotiate your way through various options. First, sketch a map of the paths available to you, and the potential paths these may lead to in the future. Illustrate each path with relevant images or symbols. Meditate on the map through half-closed eyes. Notice whether particular images draw your attention, or new images occur to you, suggesting alternative courses of action. Allow your inner sense of direction to speak to you.
Alternatively create a collage of your future. Leaf through magazines, holding in mind the question “Where do I start to go?” Cut out appealing images, stick them to some cardboard and use the collage as a focus for meditation.
Affirmation of the Day – At Rest
“I rest in tranquillity and divine grace. In this moment, I am calm, happy and fulfilled.”
Thought of the Day – Find Your Haven
When life gets stormy, feel safe in the knowledge that the soul cannot be touched by external forces. Like a ship finding shelter in a haven, take refuge in your soul when things feel unsettled: it is the calm centre of your being.
Meditation of the Day – Find Your Reservoir of Calm
At our core lies the peace of our essential nature. To access this inner peace, visualize yourself diving into the water of a warm, calm lake. You slip through the water, surrounded by a profound silence. As you reach the sea-bed, you are awed to see that it is carpeted with beautiful white pearls. Imagine returning to the surface of the lake. You realize that the silence, purity and beauty you have just discovered lies within yourself.
Welcoming The Dawn Meditation
In many spiritual traditions dawn–when the world is at its most peaceful–is regarded as an ideal time for meditation. Just before dawn go outside and find a place to sit and watch the sunrise. As the sun emerges above the horizon, fill your awareness with brightening hues of the sky and rejoice in the beauty of the new day. Feel the golden rays of the sun warm your face and allow hope to fill your heart and refresh your spirit. You have started the day well.
If the weather is poor or you are unable to get a clear view of the sunrise, visualize the dawn instead.
