Today’s Affirmation for August 27

I welcome others into my house. Here is the room I am most proud of – the kitchen, crossroads of friendship and the world’s blessings.

Today’s Thought for August 27

“If there is harmony is the house, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.”

Chinese Proverb

Today’s Meditation for August 27

A Reflection of Your Soul

One way to gain a deeper sense of yourself is to meditate on the character of your living environment, which provides a reflection of your soul. Close your eyes and visualize the exterior of your home. Look at it as if you were a stranger, seeing it for the very first time. Hold each detail in mind allowing the deeper significances to emerge. What is your overriding impression? Repeat this process for each room inside. Try to moved beyond the surface to a deeper sense of the spirit of the home.

Daily OM for August 4 – Translating Our Feelings

Translating Our Feelings

Are You Excited or Scared?

by Madisyn Taylor

Sometimes the feelings of being scared and excited can elicit the same physical response in our bodies.

When new challenges and opportunities show up in our lives, we may diagnose ourselves as feeling scared when what we really feel is excited. Often we have not been taught how to welcome the thrill of a new opportunity, and so we opt to back off, indulging our anxiety instead of awakening our courage. One way to inspire ourselves to embrace the opportunities that come our way is to look more deeply into our feelings and see that butterflies in our stomach or a rapidly beating heart are not necessarily a sign that we are afraid. Those very same feelings can be translated as excitement, curiosity, passion, and even love.

There is nothing wrong with being afraid as long as we do not let it stop us from doing the things that excite us. Most of us assume that brave people are fearless, but the truth is that they are simply more comfortable with fear because they face it on a regular basis. The more we do this, the more we feel excitement in the face of challenges rather than anxiety. The more we cultivate our ability to move forward instead of backing off, the more we trust ourselves to be able to handle the new opportunity, whether it’s a new job, an exciting move, or a relationship. When we feel our fear, we can remind ourselves that maybe we are actually just excited. We can assure ourselves that this opportunity has come our way because we are meant to take it.

Framing things just a little differently can dramatically shift our mental state from one of resistance to one of openness. We can practice this new way of seeing things by saying aloud: I am really excited about this job interview. I am really looking forward to going on a date with this amazing person. I am excited to have the opportunity to do something I have never done before. As we do this, we will feel our energy shift from fear, which paralyzes, to excitement, which empowers us to direct all that energy in the service of moving forward, growing, and learning.

Good Tuesday Afternoon To You All!

I couldn’t resist this picture. This wolf looks just exactly like my wolf-hybrid I had to have put to sleep two years ago. That nearly killed me, I had panic attack after panic attack in the clinic. I didn’t want to let her go for nothing but she was in pain and I couldn’t stand to see her suffer anymore. But to this day, I still love her with all my heart.

I got to thinking about wolves and dogs because it is 100 degrees outside. My Pomeranian is stretched out all over the bed. I take her every place I go almost. She had been pissed off at me because it turned off hot and I had been leaving her home.  I decided the other day that I would show her why she was having to stay home.  We where going to run down to the local Dollar Store (time to get dressed up, going to the Dollar Store!). I had been cleaning house and about to burn up. So I took a headband and brushed my hair straight back and then took a clasp and put it up. I normally have long curly hair. Well we went to the Dollar Store. I locked the door of the truck.  Ran in and right back out.  My goofy dog didn’t recognize me and was trying to eat me up. She was at the window showing her teeth and growling. Hell, I never knew little dogs acted like that. Needless to say, a crowd gathered. I turned around and there was people on both sides of me. They acted like I was trying to steal the truck and the dog.  I finally screamed loud enough for my goofy dog to hear me. She calmed down and I got the key in the door. I had to ask several of the people to excuse me to open the door. I got in and under my breath I had a good talk to my pooch. While I was talking to the pooch, even more people had gathered. I just looked up in amazement. What the heck are these people planning to do lynch me? HELP! I opened the door and stood up on the door frame. I asked them if they could move where I could get going. They just stood there. I asked them again. One of the men had the gall to tell me they still wasn’t sure it was my truck. I got so pissed I couldn’t see straight. It was 100 degrees outside, I had sweat running down my face and this idiot wanted to know if this was my truck. My reply to him was not very nice (I have cleaned it up were I can post it here), “Well, Mister, if you go out there and lay down in the road, I’ll show you this is my truck!”  It is amazing a loud mouth redhead can move mountains or a sea of hicks when she has too.  When I got home I ran into the house with all my packages, locked the doors and barred the windows. And all this because of my cute, adorable, sweet, loveable Kiki! Yeah right!
