Spells and Spell Casting

Spells and spell casting

When talking about spells and spell casting you can get into some sticky
situations. No other subject can cause so many divisions in the pagan
community.

It seems that there are as many different ways and ethical practices as
there are gods and goddesses in the universe. If you take into
consideration that spells and the way you cast them is what makes them
effective it begins to make perfect sense why.

In effective spell casting there are three very important ingredients that
you must have, resolve, focus, and comfort.

Without resolve there can be no change, it is your commitment to an action
that is the basis of a spell. You have to really want it! Without a genuine
intention to effect a change you are casting magic to the wind, cluttering
up an otherwise flowing universe. Spells without resolve can be detrimental
undirected or worse misdirected energy is free to change unknown
situations.

Make sure you really want the change you are trying to make. When you get
it, it’s yours. This is where a little divination would come in handy to
make sure you will be truly happy with the outcome of your spell.

Focus, direction, or meditation, how good can aim? The focus of your spell
casting is as important as the resolve to make a change. If you can’t see
the broad side of a barn you will not have the ability to effect a change
on it. You have to be able to taste it! If you physically build a dog
house, you have to have some idea what it will look like when you are done.
A spell is like a dog house, if you don’t know what it’s supposed to look
like when your done, you could very well end up with a failed attempt or
worse. You have to belive it’s possible. If you can’t belive that something
is possible it’s not. Anything is possible if you truly belive it can
happen. If you belive you can make a change and you know how the change
will take place and you can picture the end result of your spell, you are
there.

Comfort is easy, if you can’t ethically accept the responsibility for your
spell or there is something that bothers you about what you are trying to
do or how you are going about it, don’t. You are the power in your spell,
you are the creator and the control.

Poor comfort will mess up your focus and your resolve. Without comfort you
will have a very poor spell at best.

The Witches Magick for Nov. 15th: Three Times Three Spell

THREE TIMES THREE SPELL

To have someone see his errors

This is a three times three spell to use on people who were corrupt in their ways. It has no negative consequence unless you think ill of the person while casting the spell.

Wind in the north, run through the trees
Three times three, let them see, let them see
Sands of the east, rich soils beneath
Three times three, set them free, set them free
Fires in the south, awaken from sleep
Three times three, let them see, let them see
Water of the west, flow to the seas
Three times three, set them free, set them free

It works best if you have something representing that person, like a strand of their hair or a fingernail.

The spell may not work instantaneously, you may have to repeat it for the person to see error in their ways.

The Witches Magick for November 13: GOOD RIDDANCE SPELL

The Witches Magick for November 13th

GOOD RIDDANCE SPELL

Here is another good spell for getting rid of an unwanted suitor.

Take a small square of paper and write on it the name of the annoying would-be lover. Use black ink for this. Many Gypsies also say that it is best to use one of the old “dip” pens and ink, rather than a modern ballpoint, but you could experiment. Let the ink dry; don’t blot it.

Then light a white candle and burn the piece of paper in its flame while thinking of the person running away from you. Catch the ashes in something (burning the paper over an ashtray is a good idea) and carry them out to a hillside (you can do this by putting them in a small plastic bag, similar). There you must place the ashes on the upturned palm of your right hand and hold it up, saying:

Winds of the North, East, South and West,
Carry these affections to where they’ll be best.
Let her/his heart be open and free,
And let her/his mind be away from me.

Then blow on the ashes so that they scatter to the winds.

The Witches Magick for November 11: Self Empowerment Spell

SELF EMPOWERMENT SPELL

This is a fairly simple spell, and of course you should change it according to your tastes.

–1 white candle (probably the bigger the better)

–mirror

The candle should be cleansed before you begin, and could be infused with white energy, the energy of love and strength. Meditate upon your intentions before you begin. why do you need to empower yourself? Is it because you wish to realize the beauty within yourself, or you wish others to see the beauty or strength you know that lies within you.

This spell also works best if you do a cleansing of yourself, whether it is bath or shower or just visualize all of the negativity that you are carrying with you washing away.

The candle should be placed in front of the mirror, and the mirror should face you. Light the candle. Feel the positive energy emanating from the candle.
If you worship a deity, call upon them to help you.

Chant or say a prayer. This is an example:

I walk in beauty with the Goddess.
I am strength. I am beauty. I am will. I am love.
She is within me. All who see me, know Her.

Today’s I Ching Hexagram for Nov. 10th is 47: Oppression

47: Oppression

The image of oppression conjures up a dried up lake bed with nettlesome crows stalking the shoreline. Hard times can shrivel our spirits, and give rise to a multitude of ‘crows’ in the form of troublesome worries. Times of great loss or personal failure break weaker people; but the strong of heart can bend with fate. To endure hard times — or even grow and benefit from them — it is essential to tap that deepest stratum of personal identity, that which is deeper even than fate, and which is incorruptible by even the harshest realities. It is essential, in other words, to tap the wellspring of human endurance: hope.

In a sense, there is no such thing as failure. There is only sweet and sour reality, and more is learned from the sour, oftentimes, than from the sweet. For failure, hard as it may be to swallow, opens the blinds to the real world, and reawakens the clarity of vision known only to those who have risked, and tasted, disappointment.

When in the throes of hard times, it is wise to be resolute and strong on the inside while remaining quietly cheerful on the outside. Avoid too much talking — except to your closest friends. Your words will have little effect on all others, since your influence will be at a low ebb — and the attempt to get across will only drain you of vital energy. Strong silence is the most skillful posture when facing the public during adversity; it shows that your inner core is strong enough to withstand the current troubles, and suggests that your recovery will be complete. At the same time, talking openly to those you trust is equally important, for in times of calamity, talking is an important part of healing.

Keep in mind that failure — the final taboo in modern society. But this is just one part of the inevitable cycle of life for those who dare to live fully and completely. Never to fail at all is to fail in the biggest way — avoiding risk altogether, you cannot help but fall far short of what might have been.

The Witches Magick for Nov. 9th: Key to the Heart Spell

Key to the Heart Spell

It is considered very lucky to find a key. Any sort of key is lucky, but an antique one is especially so.
As with the finding of something red, there are words to say at the time of finding it:
The key to your heart lies on the ground.
The key to your heart has now been found.
I lock up your love with the heart of my own,
I’ll guard it forever with the love I have shown.
As you say these words, think of the one you love and of the two of you being together forever.
Sleep with the key under your pillow for nine nights, carrying it with you during the day.
It may then be put in a place of safety.

Daily Motivator for November 7th – Stop stopping

Stop stopping

Stop stopping yourself. Stop holding yourself back.

Stop giving power to your limitations. Instead, give commitment, action and  persistence to your best possibilities.

Fear and anxiety are immensely compelling, yet you are even stronger. The  inertia of complacency is powerful, and yet you can overcome it.

Whatever may have been holding you back has done so with your cooperation.  Choose now to no longer cooperate.

You have made the excuses and rationalizations, and you can now let them go.  You have focused on the fear, and you can now move beyond it.

The challenges facing you are very real, but that doesn’t mean you must add  to them. Instead, use the positive power of your life to move successfully  through them.

The Witches Magick for November 7th – Balloon Magick

Witchy Comments
Abracadabra, Zoom!

By Melanie Marquis

If something in your life is moving more slowly than you’d like, balloon magick can bust through the sluggishness fast. Powered by air, the element of swiftness and motion, balloons can impart a burst of speed to any situation. Here’s how. Hold a balloon in your hands and envision the situation you would like to hurry along. State clearly your desire to speed things up. Slowly blow into the balloon, inflating it as you see in your ind the circumstances you want to occur playing out in fast forward, visualizing the steps toward your goal being reached in rapid succession. When the balloon is fully inflated, envision a very clear image of the end result your are hoping to quickly achieve. Release your hold on the balloon’s end, letting your magick zoom off with it as the air rushes out, imparting an energy of fast-moving action to your spell.

Balloon Magick

By Melanie Marquis

They star in parades. They stand out at parties. They can bring both smiles and tears in seconds, and they float through the sky inspiring wonder and curiosity. Balloons are indeed magickal, both as delightful objects to amuse us and as powerful mediums for effective spell casting.

As a kid, getting a balloon brought mixed emotions. On one side, there’s the happiness and excitement of having the balloon in hand to hold and toss about, but on the other side, anxiety and anticipated sadness regarding the balloon’s certain eventual fate. A world of fun while intact and inflated, but bursting suddenly at the slightest prick from a pin, balloons show us that reality is temporary and can be changed in a heartbeat. Balloons teach us to enjoy what we can’t hold forever, while we can hold it. It’s no wonder why balloons incite our fascination, and using them magickally has benefits.

Working with the same old spell mediums time and again can get repetitive, and balloons offer an unusual means for casting many types of magick. When we switch up our routines, our rituals become more enjoyable and we are more likely to be full-fledged participants in the magickal process. Manipulating candles for the thousandth time for example, it makes it easy to simply go through the motions without really working the magick. But with uncommon novelty of balloons at the altar, the Witch’s attention is focused and interest is piqued, making for powerful spell casting energy. If you’re looking for something different to add to your magickal repertoire, grab a bag of balloons and get popping.

Daily OM for November 6 – Actions Speak Louder than Words

Actions Speak Louder than Words

Aligning Actions and Words

by Madisyn Taylor

Words carry a lot of weight in this world, but it is through our actions that we bring things into being.

Words carry a lot of weight in this world, from how we say them to what we say with them, but it is through our actions that we bring things into being. This is what we mean when we say to one another that actions speak louder than words. In many cases, what we say doesn’t necessarily line up with what we are doing, and it is here that it becomes clear that it’s easier to talk about doing something than it is to actually do something. At the same time, it’s easy to keep doing something that we don’t necessarily acknowledge ourselves doing verbally. It’s good for all of us to take a look every once and a while to make sure there is alignment between what we say and what we do.

For example, it’s easy to talk about our dreams, but it takes a lot more energy to take the many small steps that lead to bringing our dreams into reality. If all we ever do is talk about it, we begin to lose faith in ourselves because nothing changes on the external level. In this way, being all talk and no action is actually a form of self-sabotage. It’s also useful to examine our actions to see if, through them, we are following through on our words. For example, in expressing concern about the environment, we can look to make sure that we are taking the simple steps we can take to put that concern into action.

It’s always helpful to observe what we talk about and who we say we are, and then to observe what we actually do in the world. Sometimes we realize our actions haven’t caught up with what we are saying, and at other times we see that we might change our words in a way that it will more adequately reflect what we do in the world. Either way, the more we align our words and our deeds, the clearer we are in expressing our truth in the world, and the more powerful we are in bringing it into reality.

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Nov 3rd: ‘Sadie Hawkins Day’

In the ever changing dance of life today celebrates ‘Sadie Hawkins Day,’ a pseudo-holiday created by cartoonist Al Capp in his classic comic strip ‘Lil Abner.’ In the fictional town of Dogpatch, on this one day of the year women could ask a potential partner to take them on a date in pursuit of a marriage proposal. If you’re gathering the courage to ask someone you’re smitten with to attend an event with you, then be sure to take two drops of Mimulus flower essence under the tongue. Mimulus supports the energies of courage and confidence and aids them both in facing life’s challenges. It also energetically offers a sense of calm, especially if shyness is a concern. Two drops under the tongue six times a day will do the job. After all, it takes two to tango. Just ask Sadie and her suitors!
