Anti-Slander Spell – Protection from Torment and Slander

Time: Waning moon or Dark of the Moon.

You will need:

  • A dark altar or an image of Hecate
  • Two Candles – One black, One blue or white
  • An instrument to inscribe the candle
  • Juice from the Dieffenbachia Plant
  • Spider Webs
  • Pen and Paper
  • Purifying or Calming Incense

Note: “Hecate” is pronounced “Heh-KAH-tee” or “Heh-KAH-Teh”

Use a dark altar, or an image of Hecate, Avenging Goddess, on your altar. Place two candles on either side of the image. You will need a black candle, juice from a dieffenbachia plant (which numbs and paralyzes the tongue if you get it in your mouth, so don’t; you won’t need much of it), and spider webs. Inscribe the black candle with your enemy’s name. Make your circle. Say the following invocation:

Lady of Darkness,
Dark Isis of spells,
Hecate, avenging Mother
Hear us and help us.
Roll the black candle in the juice of the diffenbachia to stop the enemy from speaking evil about you or your loved ones. Say:Let the tongue of (name) be numb
and powerless to speak evil,
To speak the untrue.
Let his/her voice fail and throat close
On the harmful words,
By the power of the Dark Lady.
Then roll the candle in spider webs. Say:

May (name) be caught and bound by the webs of his/her own deceit.
Then write the person’s name on a piece of paper.

Light the candle and say:

Here is (name), alone and helpless.
(Name), you are friendless.
Emptiness and failure close around you.
Your plans are as nothing.
Frustration is yours.
Trouble, doubt and fear are at your side.
Soon you will cease tormenting me (or name of person you’re
protecting).

Burn the paper in the flame of the black candle. Take it and the remnants of the candle after dark and sprinkle it before the residence of your enemy, or where the enemy is certain to walk. Light a blue or white candle and burn calming or purifying incense for peace.

HARE

Although hares and rabbits look similar, they have very different symbolism. A hare is bigger than a rabbit, has longer ears, and possesses more powerful hind legs. The two most abundant kinds are the European Brown Hare and the Snowshoe Hare. The Snowshoe Hare is strongly linked to the Snowy Owl population, such that when hare populations are down, the owls stop breeding, and even die from starvation. The hare is more solitary and tougher than the rabbit. Hares don’t live in warrens or have maternity nests. The young hares are born so well-developed that they can fend for themselves within a few hours of their birth.

The hare is associated with a number of myths from many different cultures. The Algonquin tribe honored the Great Hare as a demiurge, a role in the creation of the world. The Egyptians also saw the hare involved in a creation story. For them, the hare came to mean procreation, and then immorality. While the hare is often associated with impatience and haste (like the “Tortoise and the Hare” fable), it’s important to note that other cultures, like the Goths, saw the hare as fleet and swift, and symbols of diligence. This reflects the attitudes of medieval hunters, who viewed hares as a challenge to catch.

Hare people are considered sensitive and artistic, and also linked with ambition, fitness, and virtue. However, the hare is not just associated with positive things. Hares are also thought of as greedy and selfish, even a bad example for people. Hare is seen as a jokester, linked with trickery and fraud. Even those with hare medicine are clever, often unreliable, and frequently thinking of themselves.

Although hare has some qualities that are less than redeeming, there are things he can teach us. Because they move in leaping and hopping motions, those with rabbit and hare totems can expect changes in their own lives in the same kind of movement. Hare can also aid people in recognizing the signs around them by attuning to lunar cycles and understanding the tides of movement in their own lives.

COLL/CALL

C, sometimes read as K, is Coll, which is the Hazel tree. August is known as the Hazel Moon, because this is when Hazel nuts appear on the trees–the world Coll translates to “the life force inside you”, and what better symbol of life than the nut itself? Hazel is associated with wisdom and creativity and knowledge. Sometimes it is connected in Celtic lore with magical springs, sacred wells, and divination.

Hazel was a handy tree to have around. It was used by many English pilgrims to make staffs for use upon the road–not only was it a sturdy walking stick, it also provided a modicum of self-defense for weary travelers. Certainly, it could have been used as well for ritual. Hazel was used in weaving of baskets by medieval folk, and the leaves were fed to cattle because it was believed this would increase the cow’s supply of milk.

In the Irish myth cycles, there is a tale that nine hazel nuts dropped into a sacred pool. A salmon came along in the pool and gobbled up the nuts, which then imbued him with wisdom. A variation of the story appears in the legend of Finn Mac Cumhail, who ate the salmon and then took on the knowledge and wisdom of the fish. Note that Mac Cumhail is often translated as Mac Coll.

FIVE

The most vibrant, freedom-loving of all numbers in numerology

A DYNAMIC FORCE

The 5 is unpredictable, always in motion, and constantly in search of change.

Although it is molded from an almost equal mix of freedom-loving and loyal characteristics, the 5 is slightly more daring, and there is nothing submissive about it.

The 5 is extremely independent in mind and soul.

Many 5s choose careers that require travel or otherwise offer a regular change of environment. People working in the travel industry, small business owners, independent consultants, lawyers, and those in sales often have the 5 in their core numbers.

The 5 can adjust quickly to pretty much anything coming their way.

Perhaps the most dominating trait of the 5 is the uncompromising demand for freedom in thought and action.

On the negative side, the 5 can be selfish, thoughtless, and irresponsible.

7 of Pentacles – Minor Arcana

Upright meaning

In this card, we see a triangle in the center pointing upwards, framed by four pentagrams at the four corners, reaching the state of materialized spirituality and vice versa. The idea has applied to action and brought about money. This amount is used to fund research and search for information and to help people grow. This card evokes generosity, victorious sports performances, in-depth knowledge of the body, and cognitive-based physical strength. This could be a compassionate person, a patron, a genius businessman, or a global success of a company.

The 7 De Deniers shows that you have a strong desire to invest in things that will bring long-term benefits. You understand the importance of spending time and energy at the moment to reap the benefits in the longer term, and you are not necessarily looking for quick wins as such. You also want to focus your attention on the right areas that will allow you to get more for your money instead of wasting time on areas that…

Reversed meaning

The negative aspect focuses on the disconnection between body and soul, spiritual disdain and overestimation of material life, slavery, greed for money, multinational companies destroying the environment, drug organizations and pharmaceutical monopolies.

The 7 De Deniers in reverse tells that your efforts can be scattered right now, and you start wondering if you are investing in the right areas. You may bet for things that will not work. So, the opportunity here is to review your current and planned investments (cash and time investments) and make sure that you will receive a return. Let’s use a priority system to ensure that you do not waste time or money in areas that will bring little results.

Limits, prudence, the usefulness of fear

Tree: Aspen (Populus spp.)

Letter: E

Picture a tall tree that seems to tremble when blown by wind — that’s the quaking aspen. Like birch, aspen grows in groups, which brings to mind the comfort of being surrounded or power in numbers. Pulling this Ogham says that contemplating and respecting limits is the best strategy. For instance, when you are angry about something, allow yourself to fully admit and feel your rage, but bring down a limit when it comes to expressing rage. Honesty and analysis of your emotions, especially of anger, will transform anger into a tool for self-improvement instead of blind self-destruction.

Fear is another limiting force. An excess of fear can be crippling. When fear goes too far, the result is agoraphobia/severe anxiety…

Hexagram Twenty-Two/22

Name: Pi.

Keyphrase: Grace.

Formed By The Trigrams: Mountain over Fire.

General: Valuing beauty will enable you to cultivate your taste for harmony in all aspects of your life.

Love: Beauty is only skin deep – do not be taken in by superficial appearances. Look beneath the surface to see a person’s true character.

Business: If a business proposition looks too good to be true then it probably is. Make sure it’s exactly what it appears to be.

Personal: Enhance your inner beauty.

Overview: Pi is about observing natural grace and allowing that observation to inspire you to emulate it in life. Pi also is a warning not to be taken in by superficial beauty or appearance. Instead, make sure that what lies underneath the surface is more enduring. To neglect to do so may well lead to errors of judgment. Remember, the more enduring beauty is seen with the heart. Not with the eye.

HEALING CHARM TO BANISH SICKNESS

A charm to banish sickness is make by placing a gold coin in a glass of red wine.
Put this beneath the stars and waning moon for three nights, and each night drink one
third of the wine to shrink your sickness until it’s gone.

This originated in rural Welsh regions,
with some similar spells appearing in Scotland and England.

Binding Spells: A Commonsense Guideline

Binding Spells: A Commonsense Guideline

If you don’t like the idea of using poppets and have decided to work a binding, and you have a handle on your emotions, then here are some commonsense guidelines that I suggest you follow:

* Bindings are best performed on a Saturday.

* Work the binding at sunset and you pull into the spell the closing energies of not only the day, but of the entire week.

* Work with black candles; they coordinate with Saturn’s energies and they are the classic magickal color for this type of witchery.

Finally, to be crystal clear, a binding is the act of psychically restraining a harmful person or criminal so that their actions cannot harm anyone else. The goddess to call on is Hecate, and she is a mighty magickal force. Consider your words and actions carefully when you call on her. How you choose to work a binding is up to you. At this point, I suggest that you take a moment and draft out your binding spell on paper. Go carefully, and remember to harm none.

You may experience some dramatic special effects when working with Hecate. Don’t be taken aback if the wind picks up….if you candles flicker and snap…..or if you begin to notice barking or howling dogs. The animals sense when Hecate is near. Yes, we have gotten very serious all of a sudden. That’s because a binding is a serious matter. Surprised? Don’t be. Just because I tend to look at things from a humorous perspective doesn’t mean I am not serious when the situation calls for it.

This invocation includes some of the correspondences for Hecate. If you choose, you can add these to your spellwork. (This would also be a fine addition to the opening of poppet magick). A general invocation for Hecate follows.

A General Healing Spell For Health

This is one of the healing spells that requires a few more ingredients, but it’s super effective for the long-term.

Ingredients:

  • 3 white candles
  • Mint essential oil
  • Sandalwood essential oil
  • 3 clear quartz crystals or other healing crystals
  • 3 small pieces of paper

Cleanse your space and ingredients.

Sprinkle each of the candles with all three oils, then do the same to the crystals. Place the candles in a triangle shape on your alter or table and place a stone in front of each candle.

Write the name of the person you intend to heal three times (once on each piece of paper) even if this person is yourself. Place all three pieces of paper in the center of the triangle.

Light the candles and raise your energy. Focus on the sick person and picture them being well and whole. Repeat the following 3 times:

Magic mend and candle burn,

Illness leave and health return.

Let the candles burn for 30 minutes then snuff them out. Repeat this ritual nightly or weekly until the individual is healed.

(One Person’s View Point) What are Moon Phases? c.2012

What are Moon Phases?

Next time you’re outside checking out the sky and the Moon happens to be out, notice what shape it is. Does it look round and full? Or, more like a banana or even a lopsided ball? Throughout each month, the Moon appears to change shape while it appears in the sky at different times. These changes are something you can observe as they happen, and they may even surprise you. For example, many people think the Moon is only up at night. But, as you will find out, it can also be up during the day.

It’s Just a Phase It’s Going Through
What you are witnessing are the phases of the Moon. A lunar phase is simply the shape of the sunlit part of the Moon as seen from Earth. That shape changes for the following reasons:

the Moon orbits Earth;
both Earth and the Moon orbit the Sun;
the Moon’s orbit is the same length as the length of time it spins on its axis (about 28 Earth days), which means that we see the same part of the lunar surface all month;
the Sun illuminates both Earth and the Moon.

When you put these all together, it means that the changing positions of the Moon and Sun relative to Earth show us different phases of the Moon (that is, different sunlit parts of the lunar surface). This happens each month in the same cycle of phases.

Get to Know Your Lunar Phases

There are eight phases of the Moon that you can track each month.

New Moon: during New Moon, the side of the Moon facing us is not illuminated by the Sun. At this time, the Moon is not up at night, but it is up during the day. We just can’t see it.

Waxing Crescent: as the Moon waxes (grows) into its crescent phase, it begins to show up low in the sky right after sunset. Look for a silvery-looking crescent. The side facing the sunset direction will be lit up.

First Quarter: seven days after New Moon, the Moon is in first quarter. Only half of it is visible 1/2 of the moon is visible for the first half of the evening, and then it sets.

Waxing Gibbous: after First Quarter, the Moon appears to grow into a gibbous shape. You can see most of it, except for a shrinking sliver over the next seven nights. Look for the moon at this time during the afternoon, too.

Full Moon: During Full Moon the Sun lights up the entire surface of the Moon that faces Earth. It rises just as the Sun sets and disappears beneath the western horizon when the Sun rises the next morning. This is the brightest phase of the Moon and it washes out the nearby part of the sky, making it difficult to see stars and faint objects such as nebulae.

Waning Gibbous: after the glorious appearance of Full Moon, the lunar shape starts to wane — meaning “get smaller”. It’s visible later at night and into the early morning, and we see a steadily shrinking shape of the lunar surface that’s being lit up. When you do spot the Moon, the side that is lit up is facing toward the Sun, in this case, the sunrise direction. During this phase, look for the Moon during the day — it should be in the sky in the morning.

Last Quarter: at Last Quarter we see exactly half the sunlit surface of the Moon and it can be in the early morning and daytime sky.

Waning Crescent: the last phase of the moon before returning to New Moon is called Waning Crescent, and it is exactly what it says: a steadily-shrinking crescent phase. We can see only a small sliver from Earth. It’s visible in the early morning and by the end of the 28-day lunar cycle, it has vanished almost entirely. That brings us back to New Moon to start the new cycle.

Make Your Own Lunar Phases

You can demonstrate this to yourself by setting up a light in the center of the room. Take a white ball in your hand and stand a few feet away from the light. Next, turn yourself in a circle, as if you are the Moon spinning on its axis. Watch how the ball is illuminated as you turn.

Observing the Moon throughout a month is a great school project, as well as something you can do simply on your own (or with family and friends). Check it out this month!

Flower Meanings: The Language of Flowers from almanac.com

What Does Each Flower Symbolize?

Discover the language of flowers with the Almanac’s complete chart of Flower Meanings. When selecting flowers—for a Mother’s Day bouquet, for your garden, or even for a tattoo, know their meaning.

The History of Flower Meanings

The language of flowers has been recognized for centuries in many countries throughout Europe and Asia. They even play a large role in William Shakespeare’s works. Mythologies, folklore, sonnets, and plays of the ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, and Chinese are peppered with flower and plant symbolism—and for good reason.

Whether you’re giving flowers to a mother for Mother’s Day, a friend on their birthday or a beloved on Valentine’s Day, nearly every sentiment imaginable can be expressed with flowers. The orange blossom, for instance, means chastity, purity, and loveliness, while the red chrysanthemum means “I love you.”

Flower Language of the Victorian Era

Learning the special symbolism of flowers became a popular pastime during the 1800s. Nearly all Victorian homes had, alongside the Bible, guidebooks for deciphering the “language,” although definitions shifted depending on the source.

Following the protocol of Victorian-era etiquette, flowers were primarily used to deliver messages that couldn’t be spoken aloud. In a sort of silent dialogue, flowers could be used to answer “yes” or “no” questions. A “yes” answer came in the form of flowers handed over with the right hand; if the left hand was used, the answer was “no.”

Plants could also express aversive feelings, such as the “conceit” of pomegranate or the “bitterness” of aloe. Similarly, if given a rose declaring “devotion” or an apple blossom showing “preference,” one might return to the suitor a yellow carnation to express “disdain.”

How flowers were presented and in what condition was important. If the flowers were given upside down, then the idea being conveyed was the opposite of what was traditionally meant. How the ribbon was tied said something, too: Tied to the left, the flowers’ symbolism applied to the giver, whereas tied to the right, the sentiment was in reference to the recipient. And, of course, a wilted bouquet delivered an obvious message!

More examples of plants and their associated human qualities during the Victorian era include bluebells and kindness, peonies and bashfulness, rosemary and remembrance, and tulips and passion. The meanings and traditions associated with flowers have certainly changed over time, and different cultures assign varying ideas to the same species, but the fascination with “perfumed words” persists just the same.

Flower Meanings by Color

Flowers provide an incredibly nuanced form of communication. Some plants, including roses, poppies, and lilies, could express a wide range of emotions based on their color alone.

Take, for instance, all of the different meanings attributed to variously colored carnations: Pink meant “I’ll never forget you”; red said “my heart aches for you”; purple conveyed capriciousness; white was for “the sweet and lovely”; and yellow expressed romantic rejection.

Likewise, a white violet meant “innocence,” while a purple violet said that the bouquet giver’s “thoughts were occupied with love.” A red rose was used to openly express feelings of love, while a red tulip was a confession of love. The calla lily was interpreted to mean “magnificent beauty,” and a clover said, “think of me.”

Unsurprisingly, the color of the rose plays a huge role. Red roses symbolize love and desire, but roses come in a variety of colors, and each has its own meaning.

White rose: purity, innocence, reverence, a new beginning, a fresh start.

Red rose: love; I love you.

Deep, dark crimson rose: mourning.

Pink rose: grace, happiness, gentleness.

Yellow rose: jealousy, infidelity.

Orange rose: desire and enthusiasm.

Lavender rose: love at first sight.

Coral rose: friendship, modesty, sympathy.

What Wedding Flowers Mean

One tradition is to select the flowers of a wedding bouquet based on plant symbolism. As an example, look to the royal flower bouquet in the wedding of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, to Kate Middleton (now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge). Her all-white bouquet had lily-of-the-valley (representing trustworthiness, purity), sweet William (gallantry), hyacinth (loveliness), myrtle (love in marriage), and ivy (continuity). Altogether, these flowers’ meanings reveal the hope of a loving, everlasting marriage.

The groom, too, wore a flower that appeared in the bridal bouquet in his button-hole. This stems from the Medieval tradition of wearing his Lady’s colors as a declaration of his love.

One fun modern idea is to give each bridesmaid a bouquet featuring a signature flower whose meaning suits her personality.

There is a language, little known,
Lovers claim it as their own.
Its symbols smile upon the land,
Wrought by nature’s wondrous hand;
And in their silent beauty speak,
Of life and joy, to those who seek
For Love Divine and sunny hours
In the language of the flowers.

Joyful and blessed birthday wishes from Lady Carla Beltane with the WOTC Family and Friends!!

May the next year of your life bring you more love, laughter, joy, happiness, enough income to cover what you have to have along with a little leftover for fun! May it bring you everything you want if it is supposed to be and everything you need. May sorrow be unknown, and any negativity be minimal. May the wind always be at your back.

As an Aries born on April 18th, you are industrious and passionate about a lot of things but you also need a lot of motivation to be productive. By being as easily distracted as you are, you often end up discovering new things, you wouldn’t otherwise pay attention to.

You don’t like creating any confusion and can often be quite blunt with people, just to make sure you have been understood. Prepare to read an exceptional analysis below.

The zodiac sign for April 18 is Aries.

Astrological symbol: Ram. This symbol suggests a willful individual that is task oriented but also symbolizes the seeds growing at the beginning of spring. It is characteristic for people born between March 21 and April 19 under the Aries zodiac sign.

The Aries Constellation is one of the twelve constellations of the zodiac, covering visible latitudes between +90° and -60°. It lies between Pisces to the West and Taurus to the East on an area of only 441 square degrees. The brightest stars are Alpha, Beta and Gamma Arietis.

In Greece it is named Kriya while the French call it Bélier. However, the Latin origin of the Ram, the April 18 zodiac sign is Aries.

Opposite sign: Libra. This sign as the opposite or complementary of Aries reveals high spirit and sincerity and shows how these two sun signs have similar goals in life but they reach to them differently.

Modality: Cardinal. The quality exposes the affectionate nature of those born on April 18 and their charm and understanding in most existential aspects.

Ruling house: The first house. This house symbolizes beginning in all matters, the physical presence and how the world perceives an individual.

Ruling body: Mars. This celestial planet symbolizes idealism and charm. Mars is considered to be the yang side or yin which is Venus. Mars is also suggestive for the patience component of these personalities.

Element: Fire. This is the element that works so to the benefit of those born under the April 18 zodiac, of those who are brave and follow their plans independently and who are quick to reveal their heated nature at times.

Lucky day: Tuesday. Aries best identifies with the flow of the spirited Tuesday while this is doubled by the connection between Tuesday and its ruling by Mars.

 Lucky numbers: 1, 2, 14, 17, 27.

 Motto: I am, I do!

People born on April 18 are brave, empowering and are decided to succeed in everything they engage in. They are always engaged in many activities and they enjoy this very much, especially those that allow them to deal with what they love and are best at: pursuing plans. On the other side, they are circumspect both in family life and professionally, when it comes to being inquired about their choices and about previous resolutions. They can often be found taking part in outside activities and they seem to work by the principle that the more the merrier.

Positive Traits: These natives are very resourceful and seem to know their way around a lot of situations. They are industrious and enthusiastic when confronted with novelty and they also possess quite a keen temper. They seem to be both analytical and imaginative although they don’t always use these right at the time they should be used. They are loyal and affectionate once someone wins their respect and attention.

Negative Traits: These natives are eager and single minded and they should learn to reckon things more if they don’t want to put their relations at risk and enter into all kinds of confusions. They are selfish and often impolite and they are prone to melancholia and even depression because they often prefer to keep things bottled up as they consider revealing their emotions might destroy that potent presentation they want to preserve in front of others.

Love and Compatibility: Lovers born on April 18 are both sentimental and passionate. They have no patience for courtship so they step this stage and go directly to professing their deep passions. They can be easily swept off their feet by eccentric and mysterious persons. Magic ends only if their partner can’t keep up with their incredibly active pace. Aries is also falling for simplicity and real enthusiasm. When they are single they focus on their ideas and plans and seem to be even more productive.

Usually a joyful character, they sometimes find it hard to express their emotions and this can make them appear quite difficult and hard to understand. They need time to develop a real connection. For them, relationships and settling will probably be a complex matter but once they decide to have their own family they will turn out to be very protective and patient. They are most compatible with those born on 3th, 5th, 6th, 12th, 14th, 15th, 21th, 23th, 24th and 31st.

April 18 Zodiac people are very compatible with the other two fire signs: Leo and Sagittarius as they tend to share the same vision of life. In love, Aries is in a constant search for a deep and understanding relationship where they can open their hearts and express their feelings freely. The one to offer this to them is the affectionate and loyal Libra. Aries is thought to be least compatible with those born under the Pisces zodiac sign. As for the rest of compatibilities between the other star signs and Aries, you know what they say, stars predispose but people dispose.
