Your Daily Horoscopes for Thursday, January 30th

We’re standing on the threshold of change as today’s innovative Aquarius New Moon marks a shift in the cosmic energies. The next emotional cycle begins with the global Aquarius New Moon at 4:38 pm EST, inspiring concern with the future of the Earth and its inhabitants. The current intensity is reinforced by propitious Jupiter’s opposition to transformational Pluto. We have a chance to plant the seeds of intention, water them and watch them grow.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Your future is looking up as the spark of excitement returns today, but your current enthusiasm may carry you too far. Anyone who comes to you with schemes for world domination should wear yellow warning flags because the Aquarius New Moon can overstimulate your 11th House of Hopes and Dreams. Remember things appear bigger and better than they seem. Keep the optimism flowing, but proceed with caution.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

You may be experiencing stress as different parts of your life present you with conflicting agendas today. It’s important that you do the best you can to honor the complexity. Don’t over-commit in your personal world just because you feel guilty about your time away from your home and family. The good news is that the Aquarius New Moon activates your 10th House of Career Objectives; projects started at work now might bring nearly immediate rewards in the days ahead.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

It may be tough to finish everything on your plate because your intentions are aimed at a distant horizon. You feel as if you can change things which are usually beyond your grasp now that the Aquarius New Moon buzzes your 9th House of Adventure. It’s okay if your reach extends past your usual boundaries today, but be careful about grasping for the stars. Your positive attitude doesn’t guarantee your success but it’s still worth the effort. Ultimately, accomplishing your goal is less important than the lessons you learn every step along the way.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

You could have highly unusual ideas about how to best work with others today. It seems that you need assistance in your current project, but it isn’t merely about physical labor or analytical research. Instead, consider all the skills, tools or resources your allies have to bring to the table. The Aquarius New Moon falling in your 8th House of Deep Sharing reminds you to be open to whatever comes your way. Success may be closer than you think if everyone has the same goal in mind.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

You can’t help but attract unusual people with today’s unpredictable Aquarius New Moon occurring in your 7th House of Relationships. Your romantic feelings can make the situation more complicated, but ultimately this may not be about lasting love. Be spontaneous and let the feelings flow without restraint or expectations. Be bold and creative in order to get the most joy from your current partnerships.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

It is time to set your ducks in a row, sort your recipe cards into alphabetical order and carefully match all your socks. Basically, you get to be as weird as you wish now when indulging in your organizational kinkiness. This is not for public consumption. It’s for your benefit only. Whatever little idiosyncrasy helps you to be more productive in the long run is worth the effort today. Honor what makes you unique as it is an integral part of what makes you shine.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

Find something totally different to do now — an intriguing activity that sets the tone for the days ahead. For example, if you’ve been thinking about enrolling in an art class or attending a live concert, invite a friend to join you and make it happen. It’s time to broadcast your creative, fun-loving side whether by phone, email or in person. Partaking in a spontaneous adventure today will inspire you to explore even further later on

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

You might prefer to stay at home and attend to your own needs today but your social obligations won’t allow it. You dream of taking shelter from the noise of the outer world now that the Aquarius New Moon emphasizes your 4th House of Security. Don’t worry if you feel shortchanged in the department of rest and relaxation; you will have time for a full retreat soon enough. In the meantime sneak away and steal a few moments for yourself as circumstances permit.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

The pace of your day grows more hectic as your calendar fills up and the overall complexity of life increases. However, the Aquarius New Moon in your 3rd House of Information reminds you that the details will come back to haunt you later on if you ignore them today. Your inclination may be to let the little things slide in favor of the larger picture, but there is much to gain now by bouncing back and forth between the big and the little.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Your personal finances are suddenly moved to the front burner and will continue to simmer for the next couple of weeks. Perhaps today’s Aquarius New Moon falling in your 2nd House of Money adds uncertainty to your cash flow, or maybe you are simply reconsidering a realignment of some of your material resources. Don’t try to fix everything all in one day. Make a plan to use the days ahead wisely in order to bring you closer to your fiscal goals.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

The intuitive flashes now coming your way might put you in touch with non-physical dimensions of the spiritual world. This isn’t all fun and games, for integrating your visions with your intellect may require some complicated work. Meanwhile, this New Moon in your unconventional sign could have you chanting spells like a wizard. Don’t be overly concerned if others think you are losing it. You will return to reality wiser for your journey after your magical mystery tour is over.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

Your colorful dreams may seem quite vivid and real now — so real, in fact, they spill over into your waking life. Today’s Aquarius New Moon hums in your 12th House of Spirituality, amplifying your fantasies, even if they are not clearly defined. Make the time to settle into your imagination and explore the possibilities. Within the quietness of contemplation is a deep power that helps you to realize your full potential.

Feng Shui to Beat the Winter Blues

Feng Shui to Beat the Winter Blues

Create warm and uplifiting energy even during the darkest time of year

Simone Sanders   Simone Sanders on the topics of winter, insight, feng shui

Winter’s cold temperatures and long evenings bring the blues to many Sun worshippers. Fortunately, Feng Shui can mitigate the more chilling effects of the season.

Even better, Feng Shui can also accentuate the many positive aspects of winter. Remember, winter symbolizes a time of turning inward. Instead of catering to everybody else’s desires, it gives you the chance to attend to your personal needs.

Shed a little light on the subject

Installing full-spectrum bulbs throughout your home can counterbalance the effect of Seasonal Affective Disorder. These bulbs provide natural light similar to the sun, helping you to feel more energetic, focused and alert during the winter months. Varying your light sources can also lift your spirits. Have a mixture of overhead fixtures, task lighting, floor lamps and up lights throughout your home and office.

Create a cozy corner

Winter is the season of self-nurturing. With that in mind, what better way to honor the season than to position a comfortable reading chair in a corner? Add a snuggly blanket, a footstool, a small table and a reading lamp. The mere sight of your cozy corner will remind you to slow down, relax and enjoy some precious quiet time.

Fire things up

Cooking can generate much needed warmth during the winter months. Having a simmering pot of soup or stew on the back burner of your stove will fill your home with mouth-watering aromas, and fill your stomach with healthy nourishment.

Keep a journal

Writing is a perfect wintertime activity, because it invites you to go inward and explore your emotional landscape. Jotting down your thoughts, worries and dreams in a journal each day will provide a welcome outlet for your feelings.

Reach for the sky

Tall plants, chairs with straight backs, and narrow bookcases lend uplifting energy to any space. Patterns with vertical stripes have a similar effect. Integrate these furnishings and design elements into any room where you are prone to succumb to depression.

Don’t forget to warm up

Warm colors can combat the hazy shade of winter. Add touches of garnet, pumpkin, goldenrod and spring green wherever you need a lift. Keep grays, blues, blacks and purples to a minimum.

Make a comfort drawer

The natural abundance of autumn is over, so now you have to provide creature comforts for yourself. Fill a drawer in your night table or desk (or both!) with little luxuries. A box of after-dinner mints, a vial of lavender essential oil, bags of your favorite tea, a tube of scented hand lotion, a juicy pocket paperback, a packet of ginger biscuits … whatever brings you comfort, put it in the drawer. Keep it well-stocked through the winter months.

Clutter bust

There’s a good chance you’ll be spending lots more time indoors now that it’s winter. Giving yourself more room to roam will help you beat the winter blues. Create spacious pathways throughout your home, take stacks of reading material off the floor, clear the countertops, and stow the kids’ toys in cupboards when they’re not being used.

Keep it moving

Things that have lots of movement — a pendulum clock, a ceiling fan, a mobile or a crackling fire — can stir up the stagnant energy associated with winter. If you have certain rooms that don’t get a lot of activity, aim an oscillating fan at a plant so that its leaves rustle occasionally. Alternately, you can suspend a piece of lightweight fabric over a heating duct so it flutters gently, generating uplifting energy.

Love the night life

Since night falls early in winter, you might as well embrace the darkness. Eat dinner by candlelight. Enjoy a movie marathon. Play board games in front of the fire with the kids. Go to bed early with your lover, but not necessarily to sleep.

Your Daily Horoscopes for Tuesday, January 27th

There are consequences to sharing our feelings and the Moon’s entry into cautious Capricorn at 12:04 am EST warns us to weigh the benefits and risks before raising an emotionally charged subject. But the Moon runs into resistance from six planets, forcing us to address complex dynamics at home and at work. Planning ahead seems like a smart strategy, but we must be ready for the unexpected since we can’t control the flow of every conversation.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Expressing your best intentions might lead you down a dead-end street today. Unfortunately, you are not free to do as you please just because you mean well. Reprioritize your responsibilities and plan your day accordingly. You can still find time to enjoy yourself, but you’ll feel better about squeezing in some fun if you don’t have to worry about what you should have done earlier.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

Even your boss might not be able to change your mind today, no matter how much he or she tries. Unfortunately, neither cool logic nor an emotional appeal seems to work. Ultimately, the choice is yours; nevertheless, it’s wiser to remain open to fresh input from someone who is an authority on the subject. Remember, you may have a great strategy in place, but there are still those who know more than you. Keep an open mind and a receptive heart.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

Although you probably want to do your own thing today, you still wish you could meet other people’s expectations, too. However, your natural tendency to remain uncommitted gives way to a more immediate need to be practical now. Don’t waste precious energy fighting about the wrong issues. Think about the amount of effort you want to devote to a potential conflict and then do what makes the most sense in the immediate moment.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

All types of relationships are emphasized today as the Moon shifts into your 7th House of Partners, reflecting the feelings of those closest to you. Instead of responding to the current situation based upon your own needs, you must also consider what others want. Unfortunately, it can be a struggle to integrate someone else’s point of view into your perspective now. Nevertheless, compromise is still a smarter alternative to acting on your own.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

You know exactly what must be accomplished today, even if it seems overwhelming at first. Your original plans may be quite different from what actually needs to happen, but avoiding your responsibilities isn’t a smart idea. Keep in mind that you still have to meet your commitments sooner or later. You can enjoy yourself more if you get them out of the way earlier in the day. Work now, play later.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Your approach to your job isn’t based only on effectiveness and efficiency today. Instead, you’re also likely to consider what brings you joy. Ironically, taking yourself too seriously now can actually be counterproductive. Although you’re often willing to narrow your focus and complete the tasks at hand, you might actually be more productive now if you are having fun.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

Taking care of your personal needs might require a lot of your time today and could interfere with your previous commitments. Unfortunately, you may not be able to get out of fulfilling your obligations, and it isn’t worth turning your current resistance into a major conflict. Instead of burying your desire to have a good time, just postpone the fun and games until you have demonstrated your willingness to be responsible.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

Your hectic schedule might not leave a lot of room for idle daydreaming today. Although you prefer having unstructured time by yourself for contemplation, you’re more likely to be pulled into a series of intense interactions that ultimately define your day. It may feel like you have a difficult path ahead, but there’s also a lot of good that could come out of processing your emotions through constructive dialogue. The give and take of conversation sets the stage for positive transformation.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

You may choose to stand up to a bully at work today because you are sure of your plan, even if it’s contrary to the general consensus. Your associates might be satisfied with finding the easiest way out, but you could be quite obstinate now in your intention to value truth over convenience. Although your idealism is admirable, you can easily take it too far. There’s no need to be so self-righteous that you can’t see the acceptable common ground you’re already standing upon.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

You could get so carried away with your own ambitions now that you lose track of the most practical path and end up making a wrong turn. The Moon’s current visit to your hardworking sign can turn a simple task into a major project today before you even realize what happened. Don’t set goals that are so lofty they’re unreachable. Maintaining a sensible approach to your job is possible if you focus on the task at hand instead of the final destination.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Sometimes your fantasies are like scenes out of a science fiction movie and seem to have little basis in reality. Now, however, your dreams can hold the key to your immediate future because your imagination is being fed directly by your everyday experiences. Don’t try to rein in your thoughts; patiently let them wander as they will. Paying attention to the messages from your subconscious just might lead you to a wonderfully useful treasure.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

You might be so positive about what comes next that you find yourself defending your plans against someone at work today. It may feel as if others are being overly aggressive, but it’s more likely that you don’t want to face any negativity at all. Don’t avoid the facts just because it makes sticking to your strategy easier to justify. It’s crucial to acknowledge any errors in judgment as soon as possible any apologize if necessary. If you have missed something important, modify your strategy and get back to work.

The Witches Magick for January 27th – Easy Heal All Spell

Witchy Comments & Graphics
Easy Heal All Spell

An easy to do All Heal Spell … to aid in the healing of all conditions, or to soothe the symptoms of serious illness.

You Will Need:

2 Bowls warm water

The Spell:

Bless or empower the water as you see fit… Lie upon the bare earth (if not possible, floor is OK).

Have each hand in a separate bowl of warm water, arms stretched out to the sides.

Visualise roots sprouting from the base of your spine, going down into the earth.

Breathe deeply, and with each deep, slow inhalation, feel the roots burrow deeper into the earth. see a bright light at the centre…see your roots penetrate it… now with each slow, deep breath, draw up the energy from this light into you.

See two streams of light begin to come from the sky, one stream into each bowl… feel the love of the God fill the bowl to your left, feel the love of the Goddess fill the bowl to the right.

Draw this love from the bows into your body through your hands.

Collect the love energy from the bows and the energy from the earth into your heart, where your most personal energy is kept.

Build all the energy here…until you can contain it no more.

When you can no longer contain the energy in your heart, release the energy to flood your entire body, and shout as loud as you can “HEAL ME!!!” at the same time as the release.

Continue to draw the energy for a while, letting it flow through your body, and spilling onto the ground…relax, and enjoy the peace that will settle over you.

After you have relaxed for a while, draw up your roots into your body, remove your hands from the water, and sit up.

Take a sip from the bowl to your left, and thank the God for his love, then spill it at the base of a tree.

Then take a sip from the bowl at your right, and thank the goddess for her love, then spill it upon the same tree. In the future, care for this tree…it has been blessed by the love of the gods (the water) and it will aid you in your health.

The Witches Magick for Jan. 27th – The Cauldron & The Knife Protection Spell

Witchy Comments & Graphics
THE CAULDRON AND THE KNIFE

Just before going to bed, fill a cauldron (or iron bucket, bowl or pot) with water and place it inside your house near the front door. Take a very sharp knife or Athame and place it point-down into the water, saying:

“Into the water I place this blade,
To guard against the thief and shade.
May no flesh nor astral shell
Enter this place wherein I dwell”

This is a good protection spell, and can be performed every evening. In the morning, remove and dry the knife, and place it somewhere safe. Then, without touching it, pour the water outside, (or down the drain if necessary) and put the cauldron away. It probably wouldn’t be a good idea to do this spell if you’re expecting company, as it could be dangerous (and wet).

You can do this at each door if desired, and protects against more than corporeal forms.

Spell Ingredients: Add a Large Dose of Reality

Spell Ingredients: Add a Large Dose of Reality

Author:   Solonius

The first ingredient for any spell: A large dose of reality…. I mean, really, what do you expect? If all spells worked, wouldn’t humanity universally believe in witchcraft and magic and use it wholeheartedly? And to that extent wouldn’t worthy practitioners be a desired commodity? It is imperative for practitioners to separate their wishful and whimsical fantasies from serious study, contemplation, experimentation and application.

I believe that in order to further understand and define the super-natural, you first have to develop and have a thorough understanding of the natural. Any study of the Craft requires a greater amount of study into the realm of Laws of Nature and the Laws of Physics. After all, how can you define what is extra-ordinary, if you don’t even know the extent of what is ordinary?

The Laws of Physics are many, and the typical high-school student mostly understands the important ones. Opposites attract (by and large this only works for ions, kids, not people) , for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction, a body in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force, for any change in state the by-product or causation is heat, etc. How can better knowing these things help us in a greater understanding of our spell work? Because all these things deal with Energy, and what is the Universe constructed of? Anyone…? Yes, Energy. And what does spell work deal with, when you boil it all down (pun intended) ? That’s right, Energy! Or more accurately, the transfer of energy. This is the First Insight that any practitioner should grasp. EVERYTHING is energy.

The Second Insight that we should understand, because it deals with both types of laws, is that Nature abhors a vacuum. That can be observed as simply as watching a balloon deflate. What do you discover with these phenomena? That Nature seeks a balance. This holds true for the Laws of Life and the Laws of Physics. The Universe naturally seeks equilibrium. Whether this is between hot/cold, high pressure/low pressure, too many predators and not enough prey, the Law stays the same. In the end, Nature will follow its Laws. You do know, though, that there is a defined and empirical Order to Things. You might not understand it fully, but you can be assured that an order exists by observing the smallest things in nature. This is crucial: Be observant to Nature and learn from it. Nature, in all its complexity, is still a system of doing things the easiest and least energy wasting way. Contemplate that reality for a while.

Where does this energy come from? Good question. Is it physical energy, which means connected to our current plane of existence? If that is so, then you would not be able to contain it for the energy you are talking about on the physical plane is electrical in nature, and you would become walking atom bombs if you gathered the energy required to perform some spells. So it can’t be a physical energy type.

Is it spiritual energy (which obviously means it is energy collected from higher levels of existence) that you are able to gather and use? The usual consensus is “Yes, it is.” This leads to the next set of questions. Can energy from higher levels of existence cause effects on a lower level of existence? How can if affect the energy in a lower existence, if the two existences are not on the same sphere? Can the physical things you do on a lower plane of existence affect what happens on a higher plane of existence? Is your mentality the only link between what you perceive as the physical plane and planes above what you can perceive with your physical senses? What is the extent of ‘Reality’, does it encompass ALL spheres of existence as ONE reality? Nature abhors a vacuum, so if As Above – So Below is a Law of Nature, does this mean that the energies of a higher plane seek a balance with the energies of a lower plane?

It is said that in the higher planes all things are possible if you only imagine it so. I further postulate that you must not only imagine it so, it must become your perceived REALITY. You must learn to tap into the energies of the higher planes, and effect permanent changes there, before any changes can happen in the physical plane. I’ve often said that there is an ocean of difference between Understanding and Knowing. Understanding is intellectual; it is accepting truth without necessarily going through all the motions to prove it. Knowing is visceral; it deals more with proof from the physical senses perceiving something as true. Ergo, to make a change here, you have to Know that you have made a change in higher realms first.

I postulate the reason for this is the hypothesis of ‘trickle down economics’ if you’d like. What does this mean? It means that in order to build a hut on the physical plane, you must first build a mansion in the higher planes. More complexly, Nature (meaning all planes of existence) seeks a balance. Nature also does things the absolute least energy-wasting way. I perceive that Nature does not easily permit energy to flow across planes of existence, even if they are in the same ‘Reality’. With As Above – So Below, you can see through a simple diagram of two superimposed triangles (one point up, the other point down) that the equilibrium point is above here and now (the bottom point) , yet below the ultimate expression (the top point) . As you move down from the ultimate expression (the open V) , less and less energy is transferred. Therefore you must have a firm and knowing conviction of what you wish to accomplish and see a clear and precise picture of it occurring, before you can hope to realize it happening.

Ironically, you should also have a wonderfully developed sense of imagination up to the point of believing in what seems impossible. Only with an active imagination can you build that mansion up to the point of actualization in the higher planes. This seems contradictory, but I don’t feel that it is. Without a firm mental picture of what you require to exist, can you hope to achieve your goal? You have to build that mansion brick by brick, through much mental exactness and conviction. This requires a great deal of imagination as well as focus. The constructed mansion should then remain in that higher plane once you have completed it. It’s there; there is no doubt of its existence in your mind. Every time you visit the higher realms your mansion is there, gleaming with its glory. Make it Reality. Does this mean that a mansion will magically appear here and now for you in the material plane? Probably not, but the single minded effort it took to imagine it as reality in the higher plane, could translate into the required motivation and focus to achieve it in the here and now. Here is something else to consider: owning the mansion is secondary to the method of achieving it.

I’ve used the visualization of a mansion to put a face to a concept. However, it holds true for any endeavor. What you wish to have happen is secondary to HOW you achieve its happening. You build the mental picture (higher plane reality) while simultaneously going through with the steps required to achieve the same results. This multiple avenue approach enlists all your faculties to achieve what your desire is. The greater the amount of energies enlisted to achieve your desire, the more energy the universe aligns with the outcome. Remember: the method of how you achieve your goal is primary to the goal itself.

As an example: There is a twice-weekly fervent prayer on many lips throughout the land: “Please let me win the lottery!” However, if you never go out to purchase a lottery ticket, the effort placed into your prayer was wasted, wasn’t it? The same occurs with your Craft. Creating a spell to achieve the end result is short sighted. You still have to do the work to realize your goal. There really are no shortcuts. I don’t mean using some elaborate spell either. I mean elaborate mental visualization, coupled with following a plan to achieve the goal. Each reinforces the other, making the possibility of achievement vastly greater. Ground that visualization into what Laws Nature has already demonstrated. This lends conviction and credibility to the achievement of the goal.

What would be the required steps to achieve that goal without using any Craft? Incorporate those steps into the visualization with your spell. Bypass any flights of fantasy; they require too much energy to maintain. After all is it easier for your mind to accept flying to work on a broomstick, or driving your car? Your mind will default to what it Knows is possible, and will automatically call B.S. to what is not. Even a child imagining flying around the house on a broomstick Knows that they are just pretending. So why kid yourself? The more reality you incorporate into your Craft, the greater the results you will receive.

*On a side note: I don’t think of the planes of Reality as floors in a skyscraper, nor are they in some cardinal Direction. They don’t exist as pages in a book, where you can turn a page and have a new reality. I think of it as a condensing of energy from zero (conversely the most dense) to the ultimate amount of energy. They are all concurrent and here and now, superimposed upon what we can only perceive as the physical plane due to the limitations of our senses. This energy is limitless to infinity. For infinity is provable as far as we have observed. Outside the edge of the growing globe of galaxies expanding outward, is vacuum. Forever. You could hypothetically travel so far away that this entire globe of expanding physical energy seems like nothing more than a single spec of brilliant light. However, the theory of infinity breaks down if you require a starting point. As Above – So Below… Infinity must go in BOTH ‘directions’ forever, or the concept breaks down.

I thank you for your time in reading this. I hope it gave you some food for contemplation, and in some way helps you with more success on your path.

Regards,
Solonius

Your Daily Horoscopes for Friday, January 24th

We have a solid connection between our thoughts and our behavior today. We walk our talk now that mental Mercury forms a harmonious trine with go-getter Mars. Our physical energy is connected to our brains, for better or for worse. However, mind over matter is good news only when our thinking is sound. Fortunately, the powerful Scorpio Moon forms several smooth aspects this afternoon, intensifying our passions and turning our ideas into actions.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

You may avoid the most direct path to your goals now because you enjoy the interesting diversions that others present along the way. Although it’s not easy to concentrate, today you could benefit from a concerted effort to stay focused. Ultimately, exercising self-discipline is more effective than following someone else’s demand that you obey the rules. Accept your responsibilities as a challenge; you can earn respect by sticking to the program and fulfilling your commitments

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

A close friend might disappoint you today and you could even feel betrayed and angry at first. Nevertheless, the Moon’s presence in your 7th House of Others urges you to reconsider your initial reaction. Let go of any outmoded emotional responses, for you have a chance to make important changes now that can ultimately increase your security rather than jeopardizing it. Reassessing what you want from a relationship is a good place to start.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

Keep your chin up and work hard today, even if your chores aren’t very satisfying. The rewards will arrive later on if you take care of the toughest jobs now. But this isn’t about going against the grain or bucking the system. Even if you believe you have a smarter way to run things, you’re better off to follow a traditional path and obey those with authority until you have completed your obligations. Whistle while you work and you’ll be done before you know it.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

Oddly enough, taking care of your responsibilities might lead to a romantic opportunity today, or, at least, an enjoyable encounter. You may feel overly cautious about overstepping social boundaries, nevertheless, don’t rule out the possibility of getting more personal with an acquaintance. Just remember, pushiness won’t work in your favor; a friendly gesture is enough to get your message across. Then wait to see what develops before making your next move.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

You are often the most sociable one in your group, but you may do well to pass on the party invitation now that the Moon is moving through your 4th House of Emotional Security. Of course you still want to enjoy yourself, but your contemplative state of mind suggests that an evening at home alone or with your family might be more in sync with your current mood. Taking some quality time for yourself today may be enough to put you back in a more outgoing attitude by tomorrow.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Although you might offer your best ideas to someone else today, your assistance may not be too well received. It doesn’t matter that your intentions are honorable; a simple comment can be taken as a serious criticism. Going out of your way to share positive words and gentle encouragement along with your suggestions gives you a better chance of being heard now. Your kindness will be appreciated more than you think.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

The emphasis on your financial picture continues with the reflective Moon still traveling through your 2nd House of Personal Resources. If you are thinking about making a large purchase, consider the long-term value of your possible acquisition. If it isn’t a good deal, let it go or try negotiating a price that you could more readily afford. Remember, there’s a big difference between what you want and what you actually need.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

It’s time to focus on yourself for a while by putting sensible limits on your social activities and commitments. Exercising self-restraint makes you more effective today and could even simplify your life in ways you never imagined. You may be tempted to start something new, but it’s wiser to wait a few days before forging ahead. Instead of scattering your energy now, concentrate on making practical plans to reach your personal goals.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

You might need to adjust your plans today due to circumstances beyond your control. And even if you don’t have to reschedule your entire day, it’s still possible to lose your cool if something throws you out of rhythm. Remaining light on your feet helps you maintain your balance now, for an unexpected turn of events could be a blessing in disguise. Luckily, you may be released from an unwanted obligation and end up having more time to yourself. Stay calm and keep your sense of humor close at hand.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

A group of your friends may want to include you in their fun plans, but you aren’t so quick to say yes today. The secretive Scorpio Moon is approaching somber Saturn in your 11th House of Community, encouraging self-restraint when it comes to socializing in a group setting. Don’t judge yourself too harshly if you’re feeling reclusive. Honor your needs by graciously declining the invitation and creating an evening just for you. Indulge yourself and be gentle with your heart.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Someone’s great idea might catch your attention today, but think carefully before committing your energy and lending a helping hand. It might sound like an exciting project at first, but it could turn into more of a burden than you want to take on. However, if you reject a colleague’s plan, spend extra time with that person explaining your decision, so he or she doesn’t feel hurt by your refusal. A bit of diplomacy can fix a problem before it even manifests.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

You are on quite a philosophical roll while the Moon zips through your 9th House of Big Ideas. Step back and take a long-term picture of your life so you can get a fresh view on what’s currently happening. Look for any unhealthy patterns that you missed when you were too busy to notice them. For now, the lessons you learn along the way are more important than reaching your destination.

WHEN MAGIC DOESN’T WORK

WHEN MAGIC DOESN’T WORK
by Van Ault

Every magician has occasions in which the magic he is directing does not seem to
work. The desired result, whether internal or external, does not come into
manifestation.  These occasions are opportunities for greater development in the
magical arts, and by working through the disappointment and discouragement, he can reach greater self-knowledge and technical expertise in the art.

I believe that magic always works. Magic is a tool, a reality shaper. Like any
tool, how-ever, its ability is limited to the operator’s knowledge and skill.
For an illustration, let’s use the bow and arrow.  Your intention is the arrow
and your magical technique for directing that intention is the bow. You use the
bow/technique to poise, balance and guide the intention/arrow with the strength
of your arms and hands/ determination and will.

What happens when this all works together optimally? The will firmly grasps the
clear intention, balances it upon the technique, you gather your emotional and
mental force, and then fire the intention into the invisible world to be made
manifest. In its own time and way, your wish materializes.

Conversely, if you haven’t got the skill to bring all of these efforts together,
things can go askew. Your arrow can veer and stray, or it may travel a few feet
before losing power.  Your bow can break, or not be strong enough to propel the
arrow.  Or, you may find that you’ve got your bow and arrow ready to use, but
you haven’t got sufficient strength to manipulate it.

I offer the following meditation process for those times when it seems that your
magic doesn’t work.  When you’ve tried all the techniques, when you’ve gotten no
results, when you’re wondering if any of this matters at all, the process in
this meditation can produce miracles and create a sense of completion.  You can
read the script into a tape, or have a friend lead you through it.

River Of Life Meditation

Find a comfortable place where you can relax and be completely
quiet…relax…allow your thought snow to just come and go…come and go…and
take a deep breath in and hold it…(pause)…now gather up the tension in your
body, and release it as you exhale …take another deep breath, and as you
exhale, let go of anybody else’s energy or thoughts you may be carrying….and
breathe in new energy…breathe in new possibilities …and allow your  body to
fill with lightness…feel it  becoming lighter and lighter as you relax more
and more…relaxing deeply…going  deeper…feeling very  light now…so light
you could almost float away……….

And as you relax, imagine a beautiful colored mist is swirling up around you,
billowing up around you into a cushiony, soft, cloud of energy…and you are
resting completely upon this cloud…and you are safe…as you breathe in and
out, let your thoughts just come and go…relaxing more and more…and the cloud
of energy now lifts you up into the air and carries your down into your own
inner world…down between the boundaries of time and space…to a place of
timeless beauty and infinite possibilities…floating down now, going deeper and
deeper, leaving the outer  world and  its concerns far behind, as  you drift and
float on this beautiful cloud….going further and further- ….down below you
is a rock, a giant rock…and the cloud  gently and effortlessly lands upon the
rock and  you step off it, as the cloud swirls back into a mist and disappears
for now…

Stand upon this rock now, and feel the strength of it under your feet…and as
you turn around, you look out upon a great river…flowing as far as you can
see…seeming to come from some infinite place…and disappearing into an
infinite place,,,a flowing, endless river of energy…this is  the river of all
life waters…all of life draws upon the life-force that moves through its
steaming currents…look closely at the water…what color is it? It may look
like liquid light to you…look deeply into it, and sense the power and depth of
the river…what sound does it make as it courses through its channels?…as you
stand  securely upon your rock, notice and fragrance…and  bend down and cup
your hands in the living water, and splash some of it on your face…feel the
life giving force on your skin…take a sip of the water…allow the river of
life to nourish you….

Now relax a moment upon the rock…and bring into your mind the magical
intention that never seemed to go anywhere…what were you trying to
accomplish?…what was the basic intention you had?…what was the emotion
behind the intention?…feel  the energy  of that emotion moving onto the palms
of your hands now…feel the energy glowing… pulsating…breathe and allow
your intention that you’re still clinging to externalize…the energy of it is
now shimmering, glowing…swirling into a sphere…allow all of your desire to
flow into this sphere…and allow this sphere to appear to you however it
appears…and  just observe what you see…you may see pictures or symbols
emerging within the sphere…whatever you see is fine…

When your sphere is completely filled with the last of your desire, emotion and
intention, hold it aloft…feel the power of it in you hands, a globe of power
that you can now release…and look out into the river of life…watch as its
currents of possibility flow for ever and ever, as far as you can see…and
whenever you’re ready, with as much and as little force as you need, throw the
pulsating sphere into the river…and give this intention to the life force of
this great river…watch as the sphere touches the water…and gradu-ally
disappears into the current…

Take a deep breath… as the sphere disappears the last of your intention and
emotion and desire merges with the source of all life, from which it originally
came…and leaves you…

Now complete any business here that you need to finish…take a few moments to
enjoy the flowing river of life, and know that the possibilities it nourishes
can bring miracles into you life too…

Take another deep breath, and notice the colored mist is once again swirling
around you…billowing up underneath you to form a beautiful cloud of cushiony
energy, which is lifted up into the air, with you upon it…relaxing into the
cloud you are returning the way you came…lifting up up through time and space,
coming back from the inner world… coming up… further and further…floating
and drifting back…coming back…bringing you all the way back into your body
now, into this room…brining your attention completely back into this time and
place…take a deep breath and begin to re-orient yourself to the          outer
world…and when you’re ready, count to three…, and on the count of three open
your eyes, and return feeling relaxed, alert and at peace.

* * *
As always, change any of the wording or images in this meditation if it suits
your purpose better.  The important part is just to finally and completely let
go of your intention, so that the energy can be recycled in whatever form the
creative force and your own consciousness will allow.  Out of this release, new
lives, new opportunities, and new magical opportunities are born!

THE PHYSICS AND ETHICS OF MAGICK

THE PHYSICS AND ETHICS OF MAGICK

What we truly and earnestly aspire to be, that in some sense, we are. The mere
aspiration, by changing the frame of mind, for the moment realizes itself
– Anna Jameson

Magick has always been part of Witchcraft. From the dawn of humanity it has been
a tool used to help alter the forces which shape our lives. Today’s Pagans have
reclaimed this viewpoint; we are not merely helpless masses of flesh, void of
any personal power, groveling at the mercy of the fates.
The precise content of our spells has changed over the centuries, but not
the methods, and certainly not human need. It is interesting to note that the
magickal desires found in weathered grimoires are the same desires we have
today, principally: love, security, health, and fertility.

What Magick Is and How It Works

Our detractors try to tell us, and anyone else who will listen, that magick is
inherently evil; that it utilizes “unnatural” or evil forces in order to work.
They believe that mere humans cannot naturally possess any power of their own;
therefore it must be obtained from some supernatural source and, they
illogically rationalize, any force that would aid human desire must therefore be
wicked and ask a perverse allegiance in return. This source was personified as
(need I say it?) their Satan, or anti-God.
It is this inherent power, one with which we are all born, that is the
force behind successful magick. Often we may combine this personal energy with
that of nature (by using herbs, stones, etc., as our catalyst and focal point),
or with that of the elemental world (by aligning our inherent power with that of
faeries, elementals, or of the elements themselves), or by working in tandem
with the creative power of Gods and Goddesses. But no matter how many of these
combinations we try, we, the practicing magickians, are the ultimate source of
magickal power.
Belief in magick as part of religious practice was an accepted part of
everyday ancient Pagan life, and flourished for many, many centuries before
Satan became an accepted theological construct of Christianity nearly two
thousand years ago. For the old Witches, magick was not viewed as an operation
of supernatural forces since, logically, nothing supernatural could exist.
Whether one believed the universe was created by a sentient deity, or wished to
believe that it exploded into existence of its own accord, the fact remained
that certain natural laws operated from which no deviation could occur. Cats
don’t sprout antlers overnight, autumn does not suddenly appear to follow
winter, and a maple tree doesn’t become an elm at will. Everything has its place
in the time/space continuum – including magick.
Magick has long been understood by its practitioners to be no more than
the manipulation of natural forces not yet understood by either science or
psychology. To create a spell we teach ourselves to sense and “see” these
energies, and invest them with our own energies in order to bend them to our
will. On the physical plane we can see this same concept used in the martial art
known as Judo. Through Judo one is taught to take advantage of the natural
energy and momentum of one’s opponent, making it possible for a ninety-pound
woman to toss a two hundred-pound man over her head. The natural energy that
makes this feat possible is there, waiting to be harnessed and directed to
release itself to the desired outcome.
Look around you. Right now. Put down this book and note all the items in
the place you are in at this moment. Note all those modern miracles of
technology you take for granted that would have gotten you hanged for being in
league with the Devil only two hundred years ago: your car, your television,
your CD player, radios, electric lights, even a simple ballpoint pen. All of
these things would have been seen as manifestations of magick by virtually
everyone, and as a sign of the presence of evil by more than just a few. But for
those who understand – or pretend to understand – the factual scientific
principles on which these items work, they are not “magickal” at all. They are
simply things which operate through natural scientific principles.
It is highly likely that the magick of today will be the science of
tomorrow, that eventually we will discover what it is about the energy of the
trained magickal mind that can manifest wishes and desires. As scientists and
psychologists continue to study the evolving human mind, they may unlock the
secrets of creation from a single directed thought. This conceptual hinge upon
which all magick is hung may be seen as being overly simplified, but it is the
basis of all spellwork. Everything that exists – everything – had to first begin
as a single thought, and somehow those thoughts had to be directed, both on the
mental and on the physical planes, in order to manifest as reality. (Even Judeo-
Christian mysticism teaches that we are merely thought-forms in the mind of
God and, when he ceases to think about us, we will perish.)

Five basic ingredients are needed for any successful spell.

1. The desire or need for something
2. An emotional investment in the outcome of the spell
3. The knowledge to work the spell
4. The belief that it exists on the mental/astral planes
5. The ability to keep silent

Without desire and need there can be no spark of the imagination that
fires the emotions to drive the spells. Without magickal knowledge a Witch has
no idea of what to do to make the magick. Without belief that focused thoughts
create a reality that can be brought into the physical world, there is no magick
at all.

Keeping silent about magickal work is another very old belief. It may have
stemmed partly from fear of discovery by the Witch hunters. On another level
there is an old adage that energy divided is energy lost. In other words, the
more you speak to others of your work, the more energy you lose, energy which
could otherwise be channeled into your desired outcome. You may also find
yourself talking to someone who does not believe in the power of magick, or has
some vested interest in your failure, perhaps jealousy or a need to “prove” the
unworkability of magick. Such people can do great damage to your magick by their counter-energy. Never mind that they do not believe in what you are doing. We all have the power to project energy, and their mental output can work against you.

Those who do not understand the principles of magic fear the mysterious
source of the manifestation more than the manifestation itself. If we look again
to the natural laws of the universe for answers, we find there is really no
mystery. All of us were taught the basic law of physics in junior high science
which states:

MATTER CAN BE NEITHER CREATED NOR DESTROYED, IT CAN ONLY CHANGE FORM.

Unlike television Witches, such as the ever-popular Samantha Stephens, we
cannot wiggle our noses and create something from nothing. In order to manifest a house on a vacant lot we do not – and cannot – create matter. Rather, we set up energy patterns that draw the energy to us and shape it into the form we want to see. This would involve consorting with a good contractor rather than with demons. The language that has evolved around magick over the centuries also tells us that it is not an instantaneous event, but a process of building piece-by-piece. Various mythologies tell of Goddesses of magick who are spinners and
weavers, creating their reality step-by-step as a seamstress embroiders a
tapestry. With her patience and persistence a rich picture is born, and it is no
accident that we have adopted the words spinning, weaving, casting, working,
crafting, and creating to describe our spellwork. There is no rule anywhere in Paganism to tell us how much or how little magick we must weave, or even that we have to make magick at all. If you are not sure about its working principles, or feel that you are not ready for magick in your life, then don’t do it. If you continue to follow a Pagan path the time will eventually come when you win find yourself casting a spell as easily as you call upon your deities.Once you decide to create a spell to meet a need, begin constructing it by following these twenty-four steps:

1. Clearly understand and define your magickal goal. Write it down or state it
out loud to help form it solidly in your mind. By doing this you begin to invest
the spell and the desired outcome with your emotions and energy. If you have
more than one need, you may wish to spread them out. You can work more than one spell at a “session,” but doing so will dissipate and scatter your energies,
leaving less for each spell. If you feel you must do multiple spells, limit them
to three and try to relate them in some way, so that the energy you raise
remains as focused as possible.

2. Be sure of the ethics of your hoped-for outcome. Approach the spell from
all angles to satisfy yourself that you are not violating anyone else’s free
will or being manipulative. Many Witches like to do a divination first, to be
doubly sure that their spell will not have any unforeseen ramifications. If the
results of the divination are negative, try rethinking your intent to see if you
can circumvent the problem. Then do another divination and see what comes up.

3. If you wish to use a specific element as a focus for your magick, decide
which one is most appropriate and collect items to represent that energy.

4. Plan how you will visualize your goal and believe in what you see. The powers
of the mind are only just now beginning to be explored by science. We have all
heard stories of terminal patients who have healed themselves, and of faith
healers who use belief to manifest miracle cures. Visualization uses that power
to form mental pictures that are invested with personal energy and emotion. It
is the soul that breathes life into all magick, and the soul that is the most
important element in its outcome. The moment you start visualizing the
resolution of a magickal need is the moment you begin to create the changes in
your deep mind necessary for the magick to manifest.

5. If you are working with advanced natural magick you will need to prepare a
long-range plan in accordance with the above guidelines. This will entail
checking moon phases, laying in enough supplies for the duration of the spell,
and planning how the energy can be sustained through each day.

6. Gather candles, stones, or whatever else you intend to use as a catalyst for
your focus or to direct the energy you will raise. Empower those items with your
personal energy by projecting into them the energy of your goal. Keep in mind
that these tools, including your cherished ritual tools, have no power in and of
themselves. The power is not in the tools, but inside the Witch trained to use
them. Without you, they are useless. They merely provide a way to focus your
energy and a means for directing it towards its goal.

7. Decide upon your “words of power,” the words or chants you will use to help
focus and raise energy. You may write them out, or simply remember key phrases you wish to use as you improvise. Some Witches like to create simple poems so they will be easier to remember.

8. If you wish to use a special deity or mythic figure in your magick, decide on
which one or ones, and on how you will evoke, invoke, and/or honor them. You may wish to write out special prayers or blessings and memorize them.

9. Decide when you want to do the spell. This can be any time you personally
need the magick, at the time when your coven regularly meets, or you may wish to take into consideration moon phases and/or other astrological influences. If
your life is as busy as most people’s today, you may have to choose the only
night when you will be free and alone. The timing is much less important than
the energy you bring to the spell.

10. At the appropriate time, gather what you will be using and go to the place
where you will perform the spell. This can be at your altar, indoors or
outdoors, at your coven meeting site, or anywhere else that feels appropriate,
comfortable, and private.

11. Cast your circle and, if you like, call the quarters, or do as you would
when opening any other ritual. If you are using advanced magickal techniques you win definitely need to employ these visualizations to be effective.

12. Your magick is now beginning in earnest. Invite whatever elementals,
faeries, spirits, or deities you wish to have present as you work. They should
always be welcome, but they are not necessary for spellwork.

13. Clear your mind and begin visualizing your goal. This is probably the most
important step in the spell-casting process and you should invest the mental
image with as much energy as you can muster. Recall your need and make your
emotional connection with it as deep as you can, on as many levels as possible.

14. Raise energy within yourself and pour it into the magickal object(s) in
whatever way feels right to you. This can be done as a mental projection,
through dance or song, or intense visualization.

15. Do whatever physical actions your spell requires. Some need no special
actions, but many require some basic movement, even if it is only lighting a
candle. Use your words of power, light your candles, bury your herbs, mentally
charge your stones, and/or raise your cone of power.

16. Take advantage of natural phenomena that can help you raise energy. A storm, for instance, is an excellent source of energy that any Witch can draw upon to help feed a spell. Allow yourself to become part of the storm and feel yourself psychically drawing on its vast stores of energy as you seek to raise your own energies or cone of power.

17. When you feel you have put as much energy into the spell as you possibly
can, send the energy out to do your will. You can visualize this as a cone of
power being sent out, or use any other mental image you like. Body language
helps, too. Relax, throw up your arms, raise a tool, kneel, send out a cone of
power, or do whatever else makes you feel the energy go forth. Be sure to direct
it out from you visually as well.

18. You should finish your spell with words such as the traditional “So Mote It
Be.’ Mote is an obsolete word for “must’ The phrase is synonymous with “Amen,”
“So It Is,” and “It is Done” It is a statement of completion and an affirmation
that you know your magick is successful. All magick is worked from the point of
view that the desired goal is already manifest – it will not come to be, but IT
IS. Always phrase your magickal desires in the present tense; for example, “I
have love in my life now,” or, “My bins are now paid in full.’ Talking of magick
happening in the future will keep it forever in the future, always just out of
reach.

19. Meditate briefly on your goal. Again, visualize it as already manifest.
Smile, breathe a sigh of relief, and know the magick is already at work for you.

20. Thank and dismiss all faeries, spirits, and deities who have come to witness
or aid in your magick.

21. Ground your excess energy into the earth and open your circle. Excess
energy, raised during your spell work but not fully sent away from you when you
sent it to do its job, lingers on and around you, The best way to ground this
excess is to place your hands palms down on the earth, into a bowl of soil, or
on the floor of your home. Physically and psychically feel the excess energy
draining out of you. Know that it is being absorbed and dispersed into mother
earth.

22. If you have ritualized your spell, dismiss your quarters or do whatever
other endings your rituals traditionally require. If you are working your magick
with a coven this is standard practice.

23. Record your spell in your Magickal Diary or Book of Shadows with the date,
time, weather conditions, and any astrological data you wish to include. This
will be useful later when you have done enough spells to look for patterns. For
example, you may see that your most efficacious spells were done on Sundays or
when it was cloudy or snowing, or when you had faeries present, worked with a
particular deity, burned green candles, or when the moon was full. Everyone has
different affinities. These patterns will help you pick the best times for your
spell work.

24. Back up your desire on the physical plane. This is a must. For example, if
you have done a spell for healing don’t avoid seeing your doctor. You will need
all the help at your disposal to overcome your illness, and magick and medical
science make great partners.

Until you achieve your magickal goal you should spend some time each day
focusing on it by dearly visualizing it as a fait accompli. These added boosts
of daily energy can often mean the difference between success and failure.

The Magickal Pyramid

The Magickal Pyramid

To Know, To Will, To Dare, To Keep Silent

To Know:  Knowledge is the first key in any magickal working.  We must know what we want to do, and how to do it with skill.

To Will:  The focus of will provides the external energy necessary to do Work.

To Dare:  This is the “doing” of the magickal operation, sometimes not without
risk or effort.

To Keep Silent:  Do not “diffuse” the energies of ANY working by “talking it to
death”, PARTICULARLY with those not directly involved or concerned  with the
operation.

These four elements form a dynamic interaction with each other and the work or
object of the work represented by the  “Point” of the pyramid if you visualize
this diagram in three dimensions, rather than the two of the computer screen.
These seem to be fundamental principles for group ritual as well as solitary
spellwork.

Let’s Talk Witch – Air Witch & Air Magick

Witchy Comments

Let’s Talk Witch – Air Witch & Air Magick

Air magick pertains to all things that travel through the air. This includes death, music, thoughts, spirits, dreams and invisibility. Other specialty areas include travel magick and twilight studies. The word twilight is used here to describe the state of mind when we are not quite asleep and not quite awake. It is a shift in consciousness that allows for the more surreal parts of life to come into sharper focus.

Like dirt and water, each type of wind contains its own primary properties. The magickal properties and purposes corresponding to the different types of winds are as follows:

Whirlwind: Whirlwinds run the gamut from gentle “dust devils” to full-blown tornadoes. This is a powerful aspect of wind to use; however, it is best to only use the violent form on the astral plane. This is the best wind to use to banish or destroy. Be careful with whirlwinds, even if only on the astral plane, because they tend to confuse.

South wind: The south wind is the warm wind of fire. It can work as an all-purpose magickal booster; however, it can easily cloud a situation. The South wind brings blessings of friendship. Singing into the south wind can facilitate contact with loved ones. It is the wind of celebration.

North wind: The north wind is the proverbial wind of change. It is the icy col wind of death and works well in spells of destruction or banishment. It is connected to the element of earth, and can be used as a healing wind. The north wind moves things forward in time.

East wind: The east wind relates to air. It symbolizes new beginnings and fresh starts. This is a good wind to use for matters involving intellect and self-improvement. It ushers in clarity and clears the mind.

West wind: The west wind is the wind of love and emotion. It relates to the element of water. Cleansing and divination are favored when the west wind is blowing. The voices of the dead are heard on the west wind.

WOTC Extra for Jan. 21 – How to clear and balance your chakras

Witchy Cat Graphics & Comments

How to clear and balance your chakras

Two simple exercises to clear and balance the chakras for stress reduction and increased energy.

If you are feeling low on energy, or somewhat stressed, chances are, you need to clear and balance your chakras. Chakras are the seven points of energy within the human body. They are interconnected and when open to conduct your energy they can keep you feeling physically, mentally and spiritually fit. These energy points begin in the groin area and run up to the top of your scalp. Clearing the “build-up” of energies in your chakras will allow them to carry negative influences from your body. This will also open you to the benefits each of these centers bring.

How to Clear the Chakras

Before you begin, locate each of the following points on your body.

Base Chakra (Sexual Center): The groin

Navel Chakra (Creative Center): The navel

Personality Chakra (Solar Plexus): Solar Plexus, just below the rib cage

Heart Chakra (Emotional Center): The middle of the chest

Throat Chakra (Communication Center): The throat

The Third Eye (Wisdom): The middle of the forehead

The Crown Chakra (Spiritual Center): Above the scalp

As you concentrate on each area, your chakra should feel warm, letting its location and presence be known. Now that you have located each of these areas, you can begin a clearing exercise. The purpose of this exercise is to push built up energies out of your body to allow a healthy flow of spiritual energy.

Find a comfortable position. You can lay with your feet elevated or sit in a comfortable position. Your back must be perfectly straight. Posture is very important. Consider your spine a pipe through which water must flow. If the pipe is bent, the water will need force behind it to move.

Now that you are positioned, remind yourself that you are a spiritual being as well as a physical being. Life itself is a spiritual experience.

Bring your concentration to your base chakra. Take a deep breath. Hold this breath and concentrate on the base chakra. When you can visualize this ball of energy, release your breath, and push the tension from this area up to the next chakra.

Now visualize your navel chakra. Inhale deeply. Now concentrate on the energy in this area. When you can visualize it, exhale while moving the tension up to the next.

Imagine the sphere of energy at your solar plexus. Take in another deep breath. When you can see this chakra in your mind, let out your breath, and move the tension up to the heart chakra.

Concentrate on the heart chakra. Inhale again. Visualize the ball of energy in your chest. When you can clearly “see” this energy, exhale, and move all of the tension up to your throat.

Think about your throat chakra, and breathe in. Once you can imagine this chakra, let your breath out slowly. Push your tension upto the middle of your forehead.

Visualize your third eye. Take a deep breath. When this chakra is clear in your imagination, push all of the tension up to a point just above your scalp.

This is the last of your seven chakras, the crown. Imagine this as something along the lines of a halo that conforms to the shape of your head. When you can see this image, release your breath, and push all the tension you have been carrying away from your body. It is no longer a part of you.

Remind yourself again that you are a spiritual being which is connected to a physical body. You should feel relaxed, and ready to fine tune your chakra energies.

Remain in the position you assumed at the beginning of the last exercise. Count to five, inhaling deeply at each count. When you reach five, exhale and say to yourself “I am relaxed, completely relaxed.”

Concentrate on your base chakra again. Feel it pulse in your body. While your attention is focused on this area, begin breathing in time to the pulse you feel from this area. With each exhalation, chant “ohm.” Do this until you feel completely in tune with this rhythm, usually three times.

Move up through each chakra repeating this process, just as you did for the clearing exercise. As you move up the pulsation should quicken and your “ohm” should rise in pitch. When you are finished, say to yourself, “I am in tune with my body, my mind, and my spirit. I am a being of light connected to a physical body.”

Daily Feng Shui News for Jan. 20th – ‘Penguin Awareness Day’

It’s ‘Penguin Awareness Day’ and I thought I might fill you in on the lore involving having a penguin as your power animal or totem. Should you adopt a penguin as your power animal, expect a two-month period in which you will nurture, protect and then hatch creative energies that will propel you up the ladder of success. This information is ages-old and in black and white, so if you want to stir up some creative opportunities, then put an image of a penguin in the ‘Creativity’ area of your living space (middle of right-hand wall) and watch how things start to go swimmingly for you.

Your Ancient Symbol Card for Jan. 20th is Wisdom

Your Ancient Symbol Card for Today

Wisdom

A very, very few of us are fortunate to be born wise. For most of us our Wisdom evolves, grows as we move through life gathering experience and knowledge. Wisdom denotes your thoughts and feelings derived from the melding of your life experiences with all that you have learned. Our Wisdom can get us through the difficult  moments in our lives as well as provide the mental and spiritual tools we need to succeed.

As a daily card, Wisdom indicates a time when you should rely heavily on past experiences and knowledge attained to make important decisions in your life. This is a time where reflection and planning should guide your actions. To act rashly, on impulse at this time may well cost you in the future. Go slow, think things out, weigh all of your options carefully and then proceed.

Daily OM for January 16th – An Invitation to Comfort

An Invitation to Comfort

Creating a Happy, Serene, and Healthy Home

by Madisyn Taylor

Include all 5 senses while making a home, doing so provides safe haven for your evolving body and soul.
Your home is your oasis. Through your efforts, your house or apartment can become both a private sanctuary and a welcoming, serene, and healthy place to live in and visit. An organized and comfortable home can have a calming effect on you, your family, and guests, as well as be your personal escape from the rest of the world.  Creating this nurturing space isn’t difficult. Even a household that includes young children or multiple animals can be a serene and peaceful place. In just a few minutes, you can make a number of changes that can turn your home into a safe and comfortable haven that you can be proud to share with your loved ones and friends.

One way to fill your house or apartment with calming energy is to imbue it with a peaceful ambiance that nurtures all five senses. Soft lighting and soothing colors like blue, purple, and green can make a space feel warm and inviting, while pleasant and calming aromas such as lavender and vanilla can positively affect moods. Peaceful sounds, such as running water in a fountain or gentle chimes can uplift and clear the space, while clearing clutter and making the most of open space can ease internal turmoil and dispel negative feelings. The physical objects in your home as well as your home itself can retain the energy of previous owners and the object’s creator. You can give your household’s energy a lift by visualizing white light surrounding our home, symbolically sweeping out residual energy, or smudging your home with cleansing sage.

The changes you make to your home can be as unique as you are and may involve utilization of space, lighting, new furniture, decorating, feng shui, or ritual. But what you do is not as important as being clear in your intention to set up your household as a soothing and refreshing place to be. Make your home a place of comfort, and you will feel nurtured and cared for whenever you are there.

Let’s Talk Witch – How To Meditate

Let’s Talk Witch – How To Meditate

To begin, sit in a darkened room (not pitch dark, but dim lights). Sit still, sit quiet, for 10 minutes. No music, no talking, no tapping your fingers, no jiggling your foot, no moving your head or cracking your neck or looking around. It’s harder than you think. If you don’t make it through the first time, try again the next day (don’t rush it or you’ll just get really mad at yourself – this isn’t a speed competition!) and keep trying until you can sit still and quiet for 10 minutes. You can think about anything you want, the point is to be physically still, and not have any external stimuli (no TV, no music, no whatever). This teaches you to have a quiet body. This also teaches you about time, because it’s hard to know how long 10 minutes is. Your eyes can be opened or closed, it doesn’t matter (and blinking isn’t counted as moving, so you can blink all you want).

Once you are able to sit still for 10 minutes, then try sitting for 10 minutes and think only about white things. If you start to think about something that isn’t white, stop yourself, and start thinking about white things again. Here’s a list of words to help you get started:

Snow, polar bears, cotton, vanilla pudding, paper, light bulbs, chicken, arctic hare, white wolf, beluga whale, dove, cream, soap, flower, milk, flour, rice, refrigerator, tooth, swan, snowy owl, sand, stones, clouds

Once you have done it, do it twice more, on different days. Ten minutes thinking about things that are white. It will teach you how to concentrate and how to have a quiet mind. If you think about white things and you start to move, try again. If you are still, but you think about what that jerk on the bus said to you today, try again. Each time you try, take at least a one day break in between your tries. You will learn concentration and discipline, both very important for meditation. Don’t rush it, this isn’t a contest!

When you are comfortable with spending 10 quiet, still, minutes thinking about things that are white, try 10 minutes thinking about things that are natural, like animals, grass, trees, sky, and so on. Anything in the natural world, made naturally and not altered by human hands. Remember to keep still, and keep quiet. Don’t say the things out loud, just think them in your head.

If your mind wanders, just pull it back. So if you are thinking about animals, and you think about your cat, and your cat’s fur, and your cat’s meow, and the neighbourhood dog that chases your cat, that is fine. If you then think about the neighbourhood dog that barks, and your stupid neighbour who lets the dog bark at night and it wakes you up and then you get a bad sleep and you have an important meeting tomorrow and… now you have let your mind wander. Immediately think of another natural thing, and refocus yourself.

Then, practice and practice and practice until thinking about natural things is really really easy, and being still is really really easy. Think about different things each time – maybe think about animals one time, and then flowers the next time.

I recommend thinking about natural things because it is a great way to connect to the Goddess. So that when you want to meditate on the goddess Diana, for example, you can concentrate on things that are important to Her: trees, a cool stream, a deer, a dog and so on, without getting off track.

Give it a try, it will take some time to get good, but it will be worth every minute you spend trying. It will let you connect better with the Goddess, and that will increase the power of your spells and magick.

Let’s Talk Witch – Knot Magick

Let’s Talk Witch – Knot Magick

In spellcrafting, knots offer a simple way to contain or loosen energy. The obvious symbolism of tying a knot indicates an intention to bind something or someone. If, for example, you wanted to prevent an enemy from harming you, you could create a poppet to represent your enemy and bind his hands and feet with string. If a witch preceives unwanted energies in a space–especially whle performing a spell–she can tie a knot in a piece of clothing or the altar cloth to trap that energy until after the magickal working.

You can tie energy of any kind into a knot.  Witches sometimes tie a line of knots on a long cord, placing thoughts, emotions, incantations, etc. into the knots. These lines are sometimes called a witch’s Ladder. Untying a knot at a later date frees the energy bound therein.

You can use knot symbolism in the following types of spells:

Binding and banishing ( especially illness and negative energy)

Channeling energy into a specific location (the energy can be captured in the knot, and then released when it’s most needed)

Securing relationships  (hence the term “tying the knot” to refer to marriage)

Tying up the loose ends of a situationo

You can tie intentions into knots too. Let’s say you want to stablize your finances. The best number for this purpose is four. You could make a money charm and secure the pouch with a gold ribbon. Tie four knots in the ribbon and concentrate on your goal each time you tie a knot. Or tie a ribbon around your bills, using four knots to limit the outflow of money.
