In my house as a child the only time I got to eat a meal while sitting in front of the television was my breakfast on Saturday morning as long as my mom did not consider it messy. So, I think I ate cereal or toast with peanut butter on it every Saturday for most of my young childhood. After my dad crossed in 1970 I did not watch cartoons as much on Saturday mornings because whether he was at home or work, he drove an ambulance for what is now a large company in Illinois, providing he was not out on a call we watched or talked on the phone laughing them together. I remember these times as some of the best in my childhood!

Welcome to WOTC! A Thought for Today
Lady of the Abyss has been on my mind a lot again lately. For those of you that have joined us after her crossing may not know that she founded WOTC in the 1990s. Breaking the taboo of real witchcraft not the media false type coming into the mainstream vast modern world wide web. Lady A had the website up for sale and I called her expressing I wish I could purchase it. At this time I had a year or two old different website that LAdy A talked me into doing to apprentice those new to The Craft and those wanting to learn more. She asked me many questions about keeping her dream of the Goddesses and Gods were brought out in a true and honest way. Than we went on to talk about other more personal things. As we were getting ready to hang up she said in no uncertain words, “I will give you WOTC because I know you will keep my commitment to the Goddess will be carried on.” To say I was surprise is an understatement as I started crying happy tears we discussed when and how I would take WOTC over. Of course I thanked her during that call many time and making the commitment to her and the Goddess to carry on what she had started so long ago. We talked more often during her last days about WOTC and how to do things on it, very personal things and just enjoyed each others company. Now I think she knew she was going to cross the veil soon but didn’t want to put the “burden” of carrying that knowledge with her. The rest of my journey in accepting she was physically gone took time. I called and she came to me on the first Samhain after her crossing to tell me she will always be with me to guide me in my work on what is her website. Even though it is approximately seven years her spirit crossed the veil she still comes when I get into a confused state on what to post on a given day. I have this same picture of her up at eye level in my office and look at her smiling face often with a thank you for what she gifted me with. When I want to retire I Will be looking for someone to take over and ask them many of the same questions she asked me on that phone call that changed my life.

I know there are people for one reason or another that can not burn the White Sage and Sweetgrass to cleanse their self or home because of the smoke. So I tried this alternate way yesterday and got the same results as burning them. White Sage takes away the negative energy in your home and Sweet Grass brings in the positive energy.
What You Will Need:

How to use it:
Crush the White Sage into a powder and tear the Sweetgrass into very tiny pieces and combine them in a bowl or on a plate used only for this purpose. Than walk each room in your home counter-clockwise starting at the door people use the most to enter and exit your home. As you are walking ask the Mother Goddess and the Father God or whatever deity you have as your patrons to take away all negativity, anger, resentment, etc from your home and replace it with love, positive energy, and harmony while you asking for this energy exchange sprinkle the White Sage and Sweet Grass mixture on the floor in the center of the room in the shape of a pentagram and put some in each corner of the room. The pentagram does not have to be perfect or even completely solid. Leave the pentagram in place until you feel it is time to sweep it up, do not vacuum it up. Leave the mixture you put in the corner of each room there this helps to keep your home environment a more positive space. Take the mixture you have swept up and dump it in your yard to be reclaimed by Mother Earth.

Make Your Own Besom Using Branches and Sticks – To “Fly” on Samhain
I suggest gathering these under a full or waxing Moon phase as they will hold more helpful energy. Your Besom can also be used to sweep out the negativity in your sacred place and/or wherever you are going to cast a circle. Remember to ask the tree you get your branch and sticks from even if they are laying on the ground no longer attached to the tree. It is always better to take what you need from a tree or shrub off of the ground beneath it rather than cutting pieces off the tree or shrub. Get a branch about 3 to 4 inches little taller than you are. Gather good size bunch of unsift smaller branches, I have found getting the sticks from under a shrub or pine tree make the best sweeping part of the Besom, if possible, the size difference in them should be no more the approximately 2 inches in size. After gathering the branch and sticks remember to thank the tree for the parts it has given you and to leave an offering such as some water out of a container you have drank from. You need a ball of natural thin twine or some type of undried vine. Tie the twine or vine to the branch making sure it is tight and will not slip off (you may want to by an angular cut about 4 to 5 inch up from the bottom of the branch to slip this twine or vine when securing it. (The size you have at the bottom of your Besom made from the twigs is up to you. Usually doing 2 to 4 layers of sticks make a good size Besom. Lay your first stick against the branch pull the twine or vine around the stick as tightly as you can, continue doing this until you have made you first layer of sticks pull the twine or vine in the opposite direction you have been placing them in a tightly as possible and tie it off but do not cut the twine or vine. For the next layer you will follow the same instruction except lay the sticks in the opposite direction from the first layer. The third layer will go in the same direction as the first layer and the fourth layer goes in the same direction as the second layer. To help ensure you sticks stay secure to the branch at the end of each layer of sticks pour white glue over the sticks and twine or vine and make sure it gets down to the branch. If you want, you can even put glue on the branch as you lay each first layer stick. Let each layer of sticks dry for approximately 24 hours before adding the next layer. When you have done the last layer and have used glue to help hold it together let the entire Besom dry a minimum of 72 hours before using it.
