Your Ancient Symbol Card for Oct. 27th is The Green Man
Your Ancient Symbol Card for Today

The Green Man
Where the Green Man appears the mystery and untamed energy of nature abounds. The Green Man indicates the presence of choices and powers that have not been muted by civilization. The Green Man represents the antithesis of technology and industrialization. He offers primal energies veiled in mystery and derived from the spirit of nature in its purest form.
As a daily card, The Green Man indicates you are in a place where you will be well served by exploring your place in the natural world. At the moment the wisdom that will serve you best cannot be found in books or on talk shows or extracted from today’s headlines. What’s called for is an affirmation of your place in the natural world.
Today’s Tarot Card for October 27th is The World
The World
Sunday, Oct 27th, 2013

What has traditionally been known as the World card points to the presiding intelligence, called “Sophia,” or Wisdom, which upholds life on this and all worlds. A more precise title for this card might be “the Soul of the World,” also applicable as a symbol of personal empowerment and freedom. In most Tarot decks it is a female figure that has become our standard World image. She originates in Hebrew, Gnostic and Alchemical lore, and stands between heaven and earth as the Cosmic Mother of Souls, the Wife of God and our protector from the karmic forces we have set loose upon the Earth in our immaturity and ignorance.
Where the Empress energy secures and fertilizes our terrestrial lives, the goddess of The World invites us into cosmic citizenship — once we come to realize our soul’s potential for it. Just as the Chariot stands for success in achieving a separate Self, and Temperance represents achievement of mental and moral health, the World card announces the awakening of the soul’s Immortal Being, accomplished without the necessity of dying.
This card, like the Sun, is reputed to have no negative meaning no matter where or how it appears. If the Hermetic axiom is “Know Thyself”, this image represents what becomes known when the true nature of Self is followed to creative freedom and its ultimate realization.
Daily Horoscopes for Sunday, October 27th
We are in no mood to negotiate with anyone this morning as we mentally run through our own private declaration of independence. We feel unstoppable as irrepressible Uranus infuses us with the light of awareness. The dramatic Leo Moon further encourages us to strut our stuff. However, the Lion’s roar grows quieter when the Moon runs into stern Saturn this afternoon. Thankfully, we still might get our way if we’re willing to honor our commitments.
Aries Horoscope
(Mar 21 – Apr 19)
It’s easier to just say what’s on your mind than to keep your feelings to yourself today. You might even claim that you have considered the impact of your words before you open your mouth. But the truth is that you really have no idea what will come out until you actually hear it along with everyone else. It’s great to make your point, but putting on a show to get attention now won’t likely bring the results you want.
Taurus Horoscope
(Apr 20 – May 20)
Although you hope to take full advantage of the weekend, you don’t want to expend too much energy just to have some fun. You realize how much work is in front of you next week and, fortunately, have the common sense now to reserve some of your strength for when you need it later. Enjoying some time in the company of others can still be rejuvenating if you keep your activities low key and close to home.
Gemini Horoscope
(May 21 – Jun 20)
Don’t worry about making plans today; just enjoy yourself moment to moment now that the lively Leo Moon is spicing up your 3rd House of Immediate Environment. But don’t get too wild and crazy or you could regret your actions pretty quickly. Keep in mind that cleaning up an emotional mess won’t be nearly as much fun as making it. Thankfully, you can still have a superb time while acting in a more mature manner by simply toning your energy down a notch.
Cancer Horoscope
(Jun 21 – Jul 22)
You are tempted to spend more money today than you budgeted, especially if you’re responsible for entertaining others. Naturally, you want to make a good impression on everyone with delicious food and drink, but your friends may be less concerned with the details than you are now. Your extravagance can bring its own punishment if it makes you short on cash or causes you too much stress. Remember that it’s the company that matters most.
Leo Horoscope
(Jul 23 – Aug 22)
You might attempt to create a strategy for success around your current notion of only stating the absolute truth when it is necessary to give it voice. However, the Moon’s presence in your expressive sign encourages you to share more of your feelings today even if they don’t move you closer to any of your goals. It’s great that you feel upbeat and want to inspire others to be happy, but keep in mind that your plan to reach nirvana is not ideal for everyone else. Saying fewer words about the future is smarter now than rambling on unrestrained.
Virgo Horoscope
(Aug 23 – Sep 22)
Your advanced organizational skills are needed to bail someone out of trouble today, and you are happy to ride to the rescue. You don’t mind working behind the scenes, and you’re even less interested in receiving personal recognition as the reflective Moon moves through your 12th House of Secrets. First and foremost, you want the satisfaction of knowing that your hard work helped to save the day for your friend or colleague. The universe is reminding you that you can accomplish nearly anything you set your mind to now.
Libra Horoscope
(Sep 23 – Oct 22)
You’re ready to show off your stuff to the entire world today, and a social gathering can act as your temporary stage. Although you want to be seen and acknowledged, it’s wise to hold some energy in reserve. Others may not know your entire story and you might prefer keeping it that way for a while longer. Avoid the temptation to bring everything out into the open now, for those who matter will still see what you bring to the party.
Scorpio Horoscope
(Oct 23 – Nov 21)
It’s easier to buckle down to do whatever is expected of you when the rules and the limits are well defined. Unfortunately, there are so many fuzzy boundaries today that things could get sloppy pretty quickly. Don’t wait until you have fallen over the edge before creating a strategy. Pay attention to social protocols, for they can prevent you from getting yourself into trouble. Embark on your spiritual quest, but do yourself a favor and wait to make any major moves until your clarity returns.
Sagittarius Horoscope
(Nov 22 – Dec 21)
You can’t even hear your own voice of reason today, or, maybe you are just choosing to ignore it. It’s a rather straightforward choice: have yourself a good time or work hard while delaying the fun for another day. Naturally, no one is surprised if you are the first one at a party and the last one to leave. Self-indulgence most likely wins out, so you might as well enjoy yourself while you can. Your unfinished chores will still be there when you return.
Capricorn Horoscope
(Dec 22 – Jan 19)
It’s often difficult to set your responsibilities aside unfinished, because you typically prefer to do the work first and then relax later. But today, you might impulsively decide to leave your commitments behind and take time off for the pursuit of fun. Just make sure that you don’t forget to return in time to finish your chores so that you also have the satisfaction of a job well done.
Aquarius Horoscope
(Jan 20 – Feb 18)
You may feel lucky to have a loyal partner or playmate, but it’s tricky to hold up your end of the deal today. Rather than being overly attached to someone else at the hip, you need more freedom now so you can move creatively on your own. However, if you show a little self-restraint, you might be able to find a way to balance your opposing desires and make everyone happy, including yourself.
Pisces Horoscope
(Feb 19 – Mar 20)
Your travel plans might be shaken up today as interactive Mercury aligns with unpredictable Uranus. You may attempt to be serious at first, but you quickly realize that your ability to display your creative side also includes having fun. Don’t be afraid to brush someone off who tries to hold you back as you seek ways to stir up a bit of excitement. Make the most of the planetary buzz; thankfully, there will be plenty of time tomorrow to fulfill your commitments.
Daily Cosmic Calendar for October 27th
Breakthroughs in higher consciousness abound in the early hours as the Moon in Leo forms a harmonious trine with Uranus in Aries (4:30AM). If you feel a little edgy or nervous, chalk it up to a rare contra-parallel linking Chiron and Uranus (6:08AM). Trying to make things happen your way or attempting to manipulate a dear one is out-of-bounds. On the other hand, healing forces are back on the march. Learn more about the merits of alternative forms of medicine, therapy and counseling techniques. It’s advisable to slow your pace later on as the Moon squares off with Saturn (11:26AM) and Mercury (3:57PM). Psychic tensions maintain the upper hand later tonight as the Moon parallels the red planet Mars (11:31PM) while a 90-degree tie between Venus and Vesta is building toward exactitude at 1:15AM tomorrow. Put an emphasis on safety and security matters as Friday night morphs into Saturday morning. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Daylight Time. Ancient Lady of Upper Egypt,
Wearer of the White Crown,
Great White Cow of Nekhb,
Wife of the rolling Nile river,
Vulture Goddess whose outstretched wings
Hover over the royal child,
Protecting him from harm, seeing him safe to adulthood,
Help us to know what it is to eat rot
And turn it again into nourishment,
Cleaning and purifying the earth
With the transmuting power of our bodies.
Lady who protects the rulers, the crowned ones,
Protect those of us
Who must take on responsibility
And whose hands work for the lives of many.
Nourish them with your attention
That they may not burn out like a candle.
Guide them with your wisdom
That they may always remember
The nourishment of their people,
Of the body, the mind, the soul.
Protect the sleeping infant child of our hopes
And goals, and future,
And see it safely to fruition.
Spread your wings over us, O Nekhebet,
And may your watch keep us ever safe.

Let’s Talk Witch – The People and Pets In Your Home
The People and Pets In Your Home
The people and pets who share your living space contribute to the overall feeling texture of your home. If you have a roommate or someone else in your home with whom you don’t get along or who is mostly negative, then you need to take measures to rid the rooms of that negativity. This may call for a sage smudging at a regular intervals: Do so once a week for a month, then once a month after. Other remedial adjustments might be in order. You can include a piece of onyx or burn a black candle in or near the person’s room to absorb the negative energy. If you burn a black candle, let it burn all the way down, then toss it out. You don’t have to throw out the onyx; just bathe it in sea water (or water with some sea salt in it if you don’t live near an ocean) and then set it in the sun for a few minutes to charge it.
If you have a pet who is hostile toward you or other people, you might try a little feng shui magick. Locate the family area of your home. This area lies in the eastern part of the house or, in the Western feng shui, the farthest left-hand side of your home when you stand inside your front door. Add a tabletop fountain to the family area, a couple of jade plants and something black. Don’t forget to give your pet plenty of love.
If you have children, the best area in feng shui lies in the western part of the house or, if you’re standing in the front door, directly opposite the family area. If your kids are hostile or angry, use anything yellow in that area–flowers(with round leaves), curtains, linen, quilts, whatever feels right. Symbols for children and creativity are also good here, as are music, bells, and lights.
Once the negativity in the children’s area is purged, put a white crystal and white flowers somewhere in the room. It helps to balance emotions.
SUNDAY – The Day of the Sun
SUNDAY
The Day of the Sun
sunnandaeg (Anglo-Saxon) sonntag (Germanic) dies solis (Latin) ravi-var (Hindu) etwar (Islamic) dimanche (French) nichi youbi (Japanese)
Traditionally seen as the first day of the week by the ancient Hebrews and as identified by the fourth commandment (Exodus, xx, 8-11). This day was in ancient times dedicated to the Sun and later as ‘The Lord’s Day’. Sunday is traditionally a time for rest, reflection and worship. It is believed to be a lucky day for babies born on this day according to tradition as the child was thought to be safe from witches and evil spirits. Some born on this day are believed to have psychic or devining abilities. Any cures that are administered on a Sunday were believed to be more likely to succeed. In some parts of the British Isles (UK) there is a belief that announces that any agreements that are made on a Sunday are not legal as it will offend God to make any transactions of a day of reflection and dedicated to worship. In the USA this is enforced by the saying ‘ Never make plans on a Sunday’. In rural areas of the British Isles those employed for a new job on a Sunday would soon leave their post:
‘Saturday servants never stay, Sunday servants run away.’
It was also thought to be unlucky to put clean sheets on the bed on a Sunday along with cutting your hair or nails. Regarding music, choir singers who sang a false note on this day were according to a traditional English (UK) belief expected to have a burnt Sunday dinner. You could expect a busy profitable week ahead, especially if you were in business, if you found a pair of gloves on this day, and quite naturally very unlucky to be the person who had lost them according to a rural English (UK) belief. A prehistoric cairn marks the spot of Druid worship where a Christian settlement was created Slieve Donhard, near Newcastle, England. Set up by Donhard (a convert of St. Patrick), pilgrimages regularly visit the place of worship, high on the hill, as it is said that St. Patrick himself appears as a result of Donhard’s faith each Sunday of the year. As he appears before everyone, it is said that St. Patrick also leads the people in the mass. According to the English historian Richard Grafton certain dates of the month were unlucky as published in the ‘Manual’ in 1565. Days throughout the year were identified and of course could have related to any day of the week. The date was the most important point to consider. The work was reputed to have some credence with support given by astronomers of the day.
