Some Pet Tips For This Holiday Season

Lady Beltane has worked with canines for 50 years as a groomer, obedience and law enforcement trainers, show dog handler and mom to many temporary but only a few permanent ones. She also had a cat for 18 years. Lady Beltane got certified veterinarian assistant in 2008. She specialized in canine nutrition and midwifery. Lady Beltane learned to train dogs the old fashion way of being an apprentice for 3 years than was over seen for another 2 years.   1. Do not feed any 4-legged pet grapes pealed or not
  2. Do not feed a pet any citrus fruit whether you take the membrane off or not
  3.  Do not let the eat onions or chocolate as both can be deadly to our beloved pets
  4. Do not let the dog in the room when decorating your Yule tree as they may try to chase and bite the lights as you put them up, eat garland or tinsels both of these usually get caught in the intestines and have to be surgically removed.
  5. Do not leave a Poinsettia plant where a human child or any pets can reach it as both the leaves and the little white balls are very poison.
  6. While unwrapping gifts again make sure all pets are safely out of the room as cats will stalk and try to eat the paper and even some of the toys, this goes for dogs also, but they will also try to eat those pesky plastic or wire things that hold a toy in place in its box.
  7. If you are going to get someone a puppy, kitten, or another type of mammal for Yule I suggest you get it a couple of days after the extended family has left, all garbage from presents and food are safely in the trash bin outside. A new animal is a lot of work, and they can be scared easily and it doesn’t need to many different people outside of the nuclear family handling it for a few weeks. The reason for not getting the new pet a head of all the commotion of celebrating Yule is the animal may get forgotten or accidentally injured while their humans celebrate.

Honor the Dark Mother at Mabon

Demeter and Persephone are strongly connected to the time of the Autumn Equinox. When Hades abducted Persephone, it set in motion a chain of events that eventually led to the earth falling into darkness each winter. This is the time of the Dark Mother, the Crone aspect of the triple goddess. The goddess is bearing this time not a basket of flowers, but a sickle and scythe. She is prepared to reap what has been sown.

The earth dies a little each day, and we must embrace this slow descent into dark before we can truly appreciate the light that will return in a few months.

This ritual welcomes the archetype of the Dark Mother and celebrates that aspect of the Goddess which we may not always find comforting or appealing, but which we must always be willing to acknowledge. Decorate your altar with symbols of Demeter and her daughter — flowers in red and yellow for Demeter, purple or black for Persephone, stalks of wheat, Indian corn, sickles, baskets. Have a candle on hand to represent each of them — harvest colors for Demeter, black for Persephone. You’ll also need a chalice of wine, or grape juice if you prefer, and a pomegranate.

If you normally cast a circle, or call the quarters, do so now. Turn to the altar, and light the Persephone candle. Say:

The land is beginning to die, and the soil grows cold.
The fertile womb of the earth has gone barren.
As Persephone descended into the Underworld,
So the earth continues its descent into night.
As Demeter mourns the loss of her daughter,
So we mourn the days drawing shorter.
The winter will soon be here.

Light the Demeter candle, and say:

In her anger and sorrow, Demeter roamed the earth,
And the crops died, and life withered and the soil went dormant.
In grief, she traveled looking for her lost child,
Leaving darkness behind in her wake.
We feel the mother’s pain, and our hearts break for her,
As she searches for the child she gave birth to.
We welcome the darkness, in her honor.

Break open the pomegranate (it’s a good idea to have a bowl to catch the drippings), and take out six seeds. Place them on the altar. Say:

Six months of light, and six months of dark.
The earth goes to sleep, and later wakes again.
O dark mother, we honor you this night,
And dance in your shadows.
We embrace that which is the darkness,
And celebrate the life of the Crone. Blessings to the dark goddess on this night, and every other.

As the wine is replaced upon the altar, hold your arms out in the Goddess position, and take a moment to reflect on the darker aspects of the human experience. Think of all the goddesses who evoke the night, and call out:

Demeter, Inanna, Kali, Tiamet, Hecate, Nemesis, Morrighan.
Bringers of destruction and darkness,
I embrace you tonight.
Without rage, we cannot feel love,
Without pain, we cannot feel happiness,
Without the night, there is no day,
Without death, there is no life.
Great goddesses of the night, I thank you.

Take a few moments to meditate on the darker aspects of your own soul. Is there a pain you’ve been longing to get rid of? Is there anger and frustration that you’ve been unable to move past? Is there someone who’s hurt you, but you haven’t told them how you feel? Now is the time to take this energy and turn it to your own purposes. Take any pain inside you, and reverse it so that it becomes a positive experience. If you’re not suffering from anything hurtful, count your blessings, and reflect on a time in your life when you weren’t so fortunate.

When you are ready, end the ritual.

August new moon 2021: Dark skies set the stage for bright Perseid meteors

The new moon arrives on Sunday (Aug. 8), and three days later a thin crescent moon will pass Venus in the evening sky. It also comes just as the Perseid meteor shower gets more intense.

Because the four-day-old moon will not be very bright, skywatchers don’t need to worry about it washing out the fainter meteors when the shower peaks on Thursday (Aug. 12). It also sets that night by about 10:30 p.m. local time in mid-northern latitudes, leaving the meteors to shine most of the night.

The moon is officially new at 9:50 a.m. EDT (1350 GMT) on Sunday. A new moon means the moon is directly between the sun and Earth. Technically, both objects are in conjunction, or on the same north-south line that passes through the celestial pole, near the star Polaris. (The term is also applied to other celestial bodies, such as planets).

The timing of the lunar phases depends on where the moon is relative to the Earth, so it occurs at the same time all over the world — the only differences being due to what time zone you are in. In Melbourne, Australia, for example, the new moon occurs at 11:50 p.m. on Aug. 8, and in London it is at 1:50 p.m.

Since the new moon is between Earth and the sun, it is invisible unless there is a solar eclipse. Eclipses don’t happen every new moon because the moon’s orbit is tilted by about 5 degrees relative to the plane of the Earth’s orbit. Most of the time the new moon is offset from the sun (from the point of view of Earthbound observers), rising and setting at around the same time. The next solar eclipse isn’t until Dec. 4, 2021.

I’ve been giving you lots of spells to work with lately. We know to work with the moons cycles when casting spells, and how the the planetary alignment can influence the energy that we raise. Another point on casting spells is the time of day that you cast it. So today I wanted to delve into that a bit with all of you for those of you who may not be familiar, as casting spells during the appropriate time of day can help contribute to the effectiveness of your spell as well.

Nighttime: As the Moon is out at night, nighttime energy is more feminine in nature. It’s a time when the veil between the worlds is the thinnest. Spells worked at night should be more personal and emotional in nature. You are appealing to the Mother Goddess. 🙂 An example of a spell during this time would be one to connect with the Goddess, spells to do with love, relationships, etc. Midnight would be the most powerful time to cast these types of spells.

Daytime: Since the Sun is out during the day, the energy would be more masculine during this time. This time is better spells that are more active and energetic, may require strength or aggressiveness. Some examples of spells to work during the daytime would be ones that pertain to business, money, motivation or groups. High Noon would be the best time to cast these types of spells.

Magickal timing: Choosing the right day of the week for your spell

Planetary magick is a complex system which blends astrology, ancient cosmology, and celestial intelligences in an attempt to bring the most effective results. In this article, we’ll discuss the planetary rulers of the seven days of the week, and the best day to perform different types of magick.

Planetary magic can seem cumbersome, especially to Witches more accustomed to elemental (Earth) magic.  But you don’t have to spend hours drafting talismans or poring over charts to add some planetary flavor to your spellwork.
