Daily OM for November 20th – Healing with Hurt

Healing with Hurt
Using Your Pain to Help Others

by Madisyn Taylor

You can channel your pain into helping others and spreading a tide of curative energy throughout the world.

Pain is a fact of being and one that permeates all of our lives to some degree. Since the hurt we feel may be a part of the experiences that have touched us most deeply, we are often loathe to let it go. It is frequently easier to keep our pain at our sides, where it a

cts as a shield that shelters us from others and gives us an identity—that of victim—from which we can draw bitter strength. However, pain’s universality can also empower us to use our hurt to help others heal. Since no pain is any greater or more profound than any other, what you feel can give you the ability to help bring about the recovery of individuals whose hurts are both similar to and vastly different from your own. You can channel your pain into transformative and healing love that aids you in helping individuals on a one-to-one basis and spreading a tide of curative energy throughout the world.

The capacity to heal others evolves naturally within those who are ready to disassociate themselves from their identity as victims. In fact, the simple decision to put aside the pain we have carried is what grants us the strength to redeem that pain through service. There are many ways to use the hurt you feel to help others. Your pain gives you a unique insight into the minds of people who have experienced trauma and heartache. You can draw from the wellspring of strength that allowed you to emerge on the other side of a painful experience and pass that strength to individuals still suffering from their wounds. You may be able to council individuals in need by showing them the coping methods that have helped you survive or simply by offering sympathy. A kinship can develop that allows you to relate more closely with those you are trying to aid and comfort.

Helping others can be a restorative experience that makes your own heart grow stronger. In channeling your pain into compassionate service and watching others successfully recover, you may feel a sense of euphoria that leads to increased feelings of self-worth and optimism. Your courageous decision to reach out to others can be the best way to declare to yourself and the world that your pain didn’t defeat you, and in fact it helped you heal.

The Daily OM for November 16th – A Clear Current

A Clear Current
Maintaining The Flow

The essence of all being is energy. Our physical and ethereal selves depend on the unrestricted flow of life energy that is the source of wholeness and wellness. Though the channels through which this energy flows are open systems and influenced by factors outside of our control, we ultimately choose what impact these will have in our lives. It is up to us to identify and clear blockages in the energy field to ensure that flow is maintained. A healthy, grounded individual absorbs some portion of the energy emitted by other people and the environment, but this does not interrupt the continuous stream of balanced energy sustaining them. The same individual copes constructively with stress and upset, and they are not subject to the stagnation that frequently goes hand in hand with negativity. When we keep the energy in and around our bodies flowing harmoniously, we are naturally healthy, vibrant, and peaceful.

Life energy flows through us like a swift stream when there is nothing to obstruct it, but various forces such as trauma, downbeat vibrations, and disappointments act like stones that impede the current. If we allow these to pile up, our life energy is thrown off its course or blocked entirely, causing illness, restlessness, and a lack of vigor. If, however, we take the time to clear these forces away, we rob them of the power to impact our lives. When we cultivate simple yet affirmative habits such as taking regular cleansing baths, practicing meditation and breathing exercises, smudging, and self-shielding, we protect ourselves from outside influences that might otherwise impede our energy flow. Likewise, we lessen the impact of inner influences when we clear our auras of unwanted attachments and divest ourselves of blocked emotions.

A strong and fluid energy field is the key that unlocks the doors of self-healing and peace of mind. Your awareness of the flow of energy sustaining you empowers you to take charge of your own well-being by taking steps to unblock, correct, and enhance that flow. Fear will likely be the culprit when you cannot identify the source of stagnation—you may simply be afraid to let go of what is obstructing the flow. Letting go can be challenging, but the exuberance you will feel when the flow is restored will be a welcome and blessed reward.

A Little Humor for Your Day – Getting old when (for the men in our lives)

Getting old when

You know you’re getting older when…
Everything that works hurts, and what doesn’t hurt doesn’t work.
You feel like the morning after, and you haven’t been anywhere.
Your little black book only contains names ending in M.D.
Your children are beginning to look middle-aged.
Your mind makes contracts your body can’t keep.
You look forward to a dull evening.
Your knees buckle and your belt won’t.
Your back goes out more than you do.
You sink your teeth into a steak, and they stay there.
You know all the answers, but nobody asks the questions.

“Our Spiritual belief is that we were created as part of the land – so our identity, our names, and our songs are all tied to the land.”

–Chief Roderick Robinson, NISGA’A

In the traditional way, the names of native people had great meaning. We even had naming ceremonies. The naming of someone was very important and had great significance because it was tied to the Earth. The identity of each member and the teachings of the songs were all tied to Mother Earth. We need to know these teachings from our culture. This knowledge will help us heal the people.

My Maker, today help me find my identity.

The Witches Spell for Nov. 15th – Breaeaking an Unwanted (Love) Spell

sam9

Breaking an Unwanted (Love) Spell

This can be altered to fit any type of unwanted spell, or to zero in on one specific spell.

Perform this only if you are certain you are under a spell that is not in your best interests. It is wise to perform divination beforehand to see whether you are and whether that is the right course of action to take.

Incense: Frankincense, Sage or any appropriate cleansing/purifying incense or one that is personally empowering.

Timing: As needed, during the Waning Moon, at or just prior to Midnight.

Items Needed:

A candle (black for banishing or white for purity, cleansing & freedom)

Appropriate anointing oil

Unshelled pistachios

9 in number (or any number that is great significant to you personally).

Ritual:

Anoint your candle if desired, light it and the incense, set them in appropriate burners, visualizing yourself being freed.

Take one pistachio. Forcibly break it open, visualizing the unwanted spell breaking as the shell breaks. The more emotion you can put into the breaking of the shell, the better.

As you do this chant: “So may it broken be/ Any (love) spell cast on me/ That was cast not by my hand/ As I will, free and clear I stand!”

Continue this fashion until all 9 pistachios have been shelled. Eat the pistachios, knowing that you are now free.

Opossum

You’ve heard the expression “playing possum”? It means to play dead and is derived from Opossum’s ability to act in whatever way the situation demands. If it’s practical to play dead, so be it; if it’s to Opossum’s advantage to be aggressive, watch out! Take your cue from this master actor today—and play the role that will serve you best.

Divorce with Grace

Divorce with Grace
A Life-Altering Decision

by Madisyn Taylor

If you are divorcing, look to your inner heart for guidance and surround yourself with loving friends.

Like the act of marriage that binds two people together, divorce is the result of a life-altering decision. It is the dissolving of a relationship that we believed would last our whole lives. We may not even be able to articulate how we got to this place, yet we may also feel we have no choice but to sever this tie. Whatever we feel, we need the support of the friends and family who will stand by us no matter what we decide. At some point, we may need to be challenged to look deeper inside ourselves as we make this very important decision, but what we need most of all is unconditional love and loyalty.

Divorce is a process that, once in motion, becomes difficult to stop, and this can be painful if we find ourselves having second thoughts. We may feel that we should do more to save the marriage, or we may wonder if there is something about ourselves that we could fix or change instead of going through with this painful separation. On the other hand, we may be seeing in hindsight that our marriage was truly only meant to last for a short time so that we could learn something we needed to know. Whatever the case, we need friends who will allow us to linger in confusion when we don’t have the answers and who will support us whether we find ways to reconcile and stay married or whether we walk away.

Of course, the most essential ally we have lives inside our hearts and speaks to us from within. We can trust this inner guide to help us choose people who will support us in kind and loving ways as we navigate the rough terrain of confusion and loss. Sometimes all we can do is look to the horizon, remembering that we will get through this time, and no matter what happens we will once again feel whole.

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’ for November 10th

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

It has been written that an optimist is someone who can fall ten stories and call out to each floor in passing that everything is okay so far. It has also been said that an optimist is someone who refuses to see things as they really are.

It is far better, the pessimist believes, to look for the worst so as to be pleasantly surprised when things are better than expected. Then, if they are as bad as imagined, the disappointment won’t be quite so great.

But this is somewhat like backing into a room so to avoid seeing the beauty of it, only to find it is an elevator shaft.

There can be no advancement where we expect the worst and believe that going outside the limits of ordinary thinking is only day dreaming. Thinkers, capable of forecasting and predicting answers before the questions arise, are in great demand.

Only the optimist can fill the bill. Only the optimist can dare to believe there are things waiting for discovery and further development.

An optimist questions life the same as a pessimist – the difference is that the optimist knows there is an answer and that the answer can be found. Optimists are aware that the cherries of life have pits, but they are prepared to remove them. Their minds do not dwell on pits, but on the sweetness of the cherries.

There will be situations that will make us afraid. Fear is a common sense emotion that keeps us from walking in front of a moving car or from jumping off the deep end of anything. And there are periods of natural anxiety when we want too much to perform well, and the butterflies begin to flutter.

Then, there is another kind of fear that is unnatural. It has the ability to possess us and rule over our very lives. It is that “what if” fear that builds nests in our minds and hatches dire images that scare the daylights out of us. It can keep the lights off, the doors bolted, and the windows of our souls firmly locked against the most beautiful things in life.

It is no disgrace in this day to ask for professional help in understanding our fears. Only the very foolish would consider this help a crutch. It is a brave person who admits the need for help and has the courage to go and find it.

They are the pioneers in recognizing our existence as threefold: Spirit, mind and body.

Your Daily Horoscopes for Sunday, November 10

Creativity soars today and imagination runs away with the show. Mercury is apparently standing still as it ends its retrograde phase which began on October 21. During these last three weeks, mental Mercury asked us to look back, reconsider plans and tie up loose ends. Now it’s time to look ahead, but Mercury’s trine to dreamy Neptune, combined with the Moon’s shift into illusory Pisces at 9:36 pm EST, makes it tricky to know what’s real.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

You have been engaged recently in some pretty serious thinking about your life whether or not anyone else realizes it. It’s not that your search for deeper meaning is over today, but it is now time to shift gears and turn your philosophical search into something more practical. Knowing the truth is a great start, but can lose its value quickly unless you apply your wisdom in ways that matter.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

Relationships might exhibit a fated quality these days as circumstances take on a life of their own. However, maintaining control over others is not a viable strategy, since you won’t be able to stop the inevitable anyway. Instead of struggling to cling to your agenda, embrace the coming changes; they can bring you more exciting opportunities than you currently realize. Trust the process and let go.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

There really isn’t a graceful way to escape the work that needs to be done now, so save your sweet talking and tap dancing for another day. Your clever charm is not going to serve you well today, even if you’re feeling extra witty. Actions speak louder than words. The sooner you start your chores, the more time you’ll have later to kick back and enjoy yourself.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

Responsibilities may prevent you from having too much fun today, even if your idea of relaxation is to just hang out at home with a loved one. You know what you want, but could run into unexpected obstacles. If your satisfaction is delayed, don’t waste precious energy fretting. Channel your energy wisely for the best results. Rest assured that you’ll get your just rewards soon enough.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

You might not say everything you feel today because you’re exploring recent private moments that could have unresolved issues attached to them. Allow yourself the luxury of dredging up old memories without having to rewrite history just so you can fix what went wrong. You will soon be involved with new and pleasurable experiences, so just let your mind meander down Memory Lane while you can. A sentimental journey could do you a world of good.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Separating the useful information from all the superfluous data is uncharacteristically difficult now. Every little item seems important, but there’s just too much of it to make sense. Nevertheless, sift through what you know, even if it’s a struggle, and set aside everything but the most essential facts. Rely on the basics and you’ll be able to make the best choices for your future.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

If you have been procrastinating about any financial matters, today might be your last chance for a while to take care of unfinished business. You are being drawn into other pressing issues that are developing now as Mercury moves direct in your 2nd House of Possessions. Don’t wait; you may not have a lot of time to go back and redo what should have already been done. The sooner you finish, the better you’ll feel.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

Your intense communication style might be more than others prefer now, but they may just have to take you just as you are. You’re not in a negotiating mood because you realize that your perceptions are even more acute than usual. Don’t back down if you believe that your conclusions are sound. Nevertheless, remember that applying gentle persuasion will still work better than issuing ultimatums. A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

Although things are looking up, you still may have serious business to take care of today. Stay focused on your long-term goals now and don’t let your frustration get the best of you. The next few days mark a turning point as your subconscious mind sends you powerful messages about your future. Steady persistence is more important now than unbridled enthusiasm. Dig deep and give it all you got.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Your contemplative attitude feels more comfortable today to you than it might to anyone else. Your cautiously reserved behavior brings up issues for someone who wants you to act in a more happy-go-lucky manner. But it won’t help if you wear a smile just to please other people. You can’t go wrong if you stick with what your instincts tell you now. Your authenticity is your greatest asset.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Your passionate words may have more impact today than you expect. However, you’re not even sure that you fully believe what you said just a few minutes ago. You aren’t purposefully misleading anyone; it’s just that your logical conclusions are not supported by what you feel in your heart now. Nevertheless, you know you must speak the truth as you experience it in the moment, for maintaining your integrity is what matters most.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

Your x-ray vision allows you to see right through any sort of cover-up today, but the question is what do you do with the information you possess? The answer can be found in your attitude. It won’t work if you try to show someone what you think they need to know. If, on the other hand, you offer a different perspective without declaring that it is the only path to follow, then you can help people by expanding their options. Sharing your knowledge freely inspires others to do the same.

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Nov. 9th – ‘Chaos Never Dies’

The energies associated with this day might say that ‘Chaos Never Dies’ but remaining cool, calm and collected in the face of chaos can be as easy as taking four drops of Bach Rescue Remedy flower essence under the tongue, three times a day for as many days as it takes to assume a state of harmony and peace. Chaos will die quickly with this proven anxiety easer in hand.

Daily Horoscopes for Saturday, November 9th

We have to set aside our emotions today so we can focus on the practical aspects of our lives as go-getter Mars sextiles taskmaster Saturn. Creating a concrete plan, combined with hard work, ensures progress. Meanwhile, in direct contrast, a visionary Mercury-Neptune alignment heightens our fantasies and invites us into the dreamy poetic realms. The intelligent Aquarius Moon enables us to use our imaginations without losing touch with reality.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

You are in the driver’s seat now because you know the full consequences of what you are doing. You recently had the opportunity to consider all your options before choosing your present course of action. The potential rewards may be quite satisfying, although it could take more time than you think for your labors to bear fruit. Setting a sustainable pace today is more important than your actual production, so keep your eyes on the future and your shoulder to the wheel.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

You’re not interested in anything superficial now because you want to see tangible results from your extra effort. Unfortunately, confusion can catch you off guard today if the distance between your optimism and reality is too much. Adopt a logical and balanced approach and pay attention to the details. There is great potential for success if you maintain a positive attitude and keep your common sense close at hand.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

Whatever you say today could be less important than your actions. Your behavior not only speaks louder than your words, it also has longer lasting consequences. Nevertheless, you have a significant opportunity now, but it might not be obvious at first. No matter what happens, be creative as you tell your story. Dream out loud and share what’s on your mind. You may be pleasantly surprised with the wonderful response you receive.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

You have an interesting choice to make today as your plans come up for reconsideration. It would be easier if you were the only person involved, but someone else’s needs must also be included. Opening your mind to reexamine your goals from a wider perspective can be very enlightening as you see possibilities that you previously overlooked. Don’t say no too quickly to anything that comes your way or you could miss a wonderful opportunity to further develop your evolving life strategy.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

There is so much happening that it tests your ability to remain calm and it might be somewhat disconcerting now as you try to keep it all together. Harmonious aspects conspire to clear the path toward your destination, but doing the work is still, ultimately, your responsibility. Your schedule is so full that you may consider sleeping less just to squeeze everything in. Things will slow down in a few days, but in the meantime, make sure you get some much-needed rest.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Someone at work may be acting overly sweet toward you today and you might not know what to do about it. Your uncertainty could stem from an overall lack of clarity about what you want. Or maybe the other person’s intentions are questionable. Either way, your smartest strategy is to explore all avenues before deciding your course of action. Luckily, your reasoning is sound now, even if the options are confusing at first. Once you’ve considered the pros and cons, make your choice and stick to it.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

It’s hard to feel satisfied with just having a nice experience today; you crave something that goes beyond the ordinary. Even if you finish your work early, you still won’t be able to fully enjoy yourself. However, you are currently blessed with the patience to wait for the right moment and the drive to follow through on your plan. Once you know that the timing is right, don’t hesitate to make your move. If your intentions are clear, your mind can turn your fantasies into reality.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

Your creative juices are flowing and it’s wise to find ways to concentrate on your self-expression. But this kind of sharing isn’t just about personal issues; it’s time to set new goals and then pursue them. Yet, even if you are overcommitted, you can still do what needs to be done. There is major assistance coming your way from the hidden realms of your own subconscious world. The spiritual growth and psychological work you have done in the recent past may be put to good use in the present.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

Unfortunately, you may be doing more armchair traveling today than real trekking around the globe. However, as your vision expands, you might miss important details or gloss over data that you don’t have time to integrate. Luckily, you could make a lot of progress now by saving money for a future trip. Remember that sometimes the planning stage of a getaway can be nearly as much fun as the real thing; take your time and enjoy the anticipation while it lasts.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Although you might be uncharacteristically laid-back at work today, you still need to juggle your personal and business worlds while keeping the two of them apart. But don’t miss the powerful opportunity to make something special happen, since you have the right balance between intention and follow-through now, enabling you to accomplish whatever you initially set out to do. Make sure that you have your facts straight, but don’t get too hung up in the details. Share your vision as you let your inner poet or philosopher out of the closet.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

You may be inclined to spend money on something you don’t really need today. Buying a gift for yourself is a lovely thing to do, but you might be drawn toward purchasing an item that is more extravagant than you can afford. Ask yourself whether or not your potential purchase is really such a good idea before you face possible regrets in a few days. Ironically, exercising a bit of self-restraint works to your advantage in the long run.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

Although it’s wonderful to fuel your life with your dreams, don’t let it be an excuse to be completely unrealistic. It’s as if you must maintain a double existence now. You have your head up in the clouds, but need to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground since it’s tempting to escape to another world. However, you still must pay careful attention to the process or your best ideas will only get lost. Thankfully, you can go anywhere your imagination carries you while riding this powerful spiritual wave.

The Witches’ Spell for Nov. 9th – Cursed or Blessed

sam9

CURSED OR BLESSED

You need:

Piece of burlap

piece of wool

piece of silk

Some polished stones (polished) from a river or stream

A live leaf

A bowl of fruit and/or bread

A dead branch

Lay the silk, wool and burlap at the foot of your bed in that order. About 5 feet from the foot of your bed, toward the left, lay the branch. About 5 feet from the foot of your bead, toward the right, place the bowl.  The branch is the barren curse and the bowl is the bountiful life that withers the curse.  Lay one stone on each cloth then lay a path from the wool, straight down the center, between the bowl and the branch.  The stones must touch. At the end lay the leaf.  By laying the stones, you show respect for the fates and the balance of life.  Light three candles and incense and meditate over the rite.  Sleep without touching the items.  When you wake, watch how much the stones have moved.  If they bias the branch, you are cursed.  If they bias the bowl, you are blessed.  If it doesn’t move, no outside force is affecting you.  If you are cursed, how far it has moved will determine the strength of the curse. Reset the path, and that night, light the three candles and the incense and meditate again over the rite.  Sleep again without touching anything. The path should have moved less than the first time.  Repeat this every night until the path stays in the middle.  Next, move the path toward the bowl following the same meditation and sleep process as before.  Continue this every night until the path stays at the bowl.  When it has done so, you may complete the rite.  Touch nothing, but for the three following nights, meditate over the rite, to seal your new fate.  The stones must be returned to the river or stream where you got them from .  The branch must be returned to the forest floor where you found it, and the leaf cast to the wind.  The bowl of fruit must be eaten,  and the cloth must be saved in a dark place, undisturbed.

Aromas to Heal a Broken Heart

Aromas to Heal a Broken Heart

By Francoise Rapp

Too often people write off break-ups as just another page to turn in the book of life. There is some truth in that, but break-ups should be taken a bit more seriously. After all, this is the end of a relationship. And this loss can be as painful as losing a loved one in death. To heal it takes time, self-care, and conscious processing of your emotions. It is vital that you allow this healing process to occur, and take advantage of the situation to treat yourself with gentleness and nurturing.

Here are some other things to keep in mind during this transformative time:

· Avoid any big decisions.

· Go into the pain and the feelings. There is no way out but to get through it…and you will!

· Take long aromatherapy baths with appropriate holistic blends. See recipes below.

· Cry when you need to. Don’t let others tell you to just get over it.

· Be VERY selfish.

· Surround yourself with positive and happy people.

· Dare to ask for a lot of hugs.

· Get a dog or cat, or cuddle with the ones you have.

· Write really awful, bitchy, letters to your ex. Write everything you would love to say. Burn them in the sink. Run the water to make it go away.

· Love yourself. Look in the mirror as often as you can and say wonderful things about yourself aloud.

· Write your way through the feelings.

· Connect with other people who understand and can relate: friends, counselors, message boards on websites, etc.

· Have a healthy lifestyle: eat well, exercise (at least get some fresh air on the beach, at the park, etc.).

· Nourish your soul with beauty: watch movies, read poetry, go to museums.

· Meditate.

· Stay alone and appreciate the tranquility of your aloneness.

There’s no rule for how long the pain of a heartbreak will last. It may take weeks, months or even years. But using the following special aromatherapy blend and ritual will soothe your heart, nurture your wounded soul, and envelop you in comfort. I recommend following this bath ritual every night until you feel the pain has faded.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your Daily Bath Ritual to Ease Your Broken Heart
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Prepare your aromatherapy blend by adding the following essential oils to a 10-oz bottle and filling with organic vegetable oil:

· 4 drops Rose Essential Oil
· 15 drops Sandalwood Oil
· 9 drops Lavender Oil

Run some warm water for your bath and add 10 drops of your aromatic blend. Light some candles and turn off the lights. Close your eyes and place your hands on your heart. Visualize yourself filled and surrounded by a pink color. Take a few deep breaths. Feel the color soothing your being. Say aloud, “I am love myself.” Take a few deep breaths again. Soak for at least 15 minutes.

After you get out of the bath, pour a few drops of the aromatherapy blend into the palms of your hands and anoint your heart chakra (the seat of love: healing, grieving, acceptance), and the third eye (integrating, detachment, connection with your Higher Self).

Calming Aromatherapy Spray – Formula

Calming Aromatherapy Spray – Formula

Adapted from Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit, by Gabriel Mojay (Inner Traditions, 1997).

This easy-to-make formula is based on centuries-old aromatherapy wisdom that reduces anxiety and apprehension.

After all, we can all use a little more calm and reassurance from time to time–and this spray smells simply divine!

According to aromatherapy wisdom, Lavender is one of the most comforting oils, often used for anxiety in those who feel oppressed or emotionally confused, or feel they don’t know where to turn.

Palmarosa nourishes heart energy and has a cooling, calming, supportive effect. It alleviates fear and insecurity.

Jasmine combines a calming effect with a distinctly upliting one and is especially useful for anxiety when it alternates with feelings of depression.

Geranium calms nervous anxiety and alleviates insecurity.

DIRECTIONS:

1. Place one cup of water in a spray bottle, and add the following pure essential oils:

3 drops lavender
2 drops Palmrosa
2 drops Jasmine
1 drop geranium

2. Shake well and spray upward toward the center of the room, or onto any non-staining surface

Your Daily Horoscopes for November 8th

Something is odd today as otherworldly feelings linger from yesterday’s fantasyland excursion, stirring up the winds of fate. However, the steady Capricorn Moon ensures that we can keep our feet planted firmly on the ground until 6:29 pm EST when she shifts into quirky Aquarius. Unusual rumblings grab our attention and, perhaps, snatch the reins of control out of our hands. However, we don’t give up easily and may overcompensate on the rebound.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

You are poised to catch the wind to points unknown today, but at least you can tell which way the breezes are blowing. Nevertheless, once you’re soaring, you might discover that the currents aren’t quite as stable as you first assumed. But coming down isn’t as straightforward as getting airborne. Relax and enjoy the ride, even if you no longer have a clue as to where you are going.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

Although your well-known determination may not be enough to guarantee your success, you still have high hopes for reaching your goals today. Rather than relentlessly pushing toward a singular destination, pay attention to what’s being revealed by the changing circumstances. Remember, it’s more important to remain light on your feet and willing to switch direction on a moment’s notice than to doggedly drive toward an objective that no longer makes sense.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

Another person’s idealistic approach could open your mind to a whole new way of looking at things today. Fortunately, you are very receptive to what is being said and something you discover now can have a lasting impact on your life. It’s like you are being supplied with a missing piece of data that enables everything to fit into place. Although you are learning about the truth, spending a few more days gaining perspective might just prevent you from jumping into a situation you don’t yet fully understand.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

The hold that someone has over you is reinforced today by the authoritative Capricorn Moon’s visit to your 7th House of Partners. But events can take interesting twists and turns, shifting the center of power from others to you. Nevertheless, tread carefully; being in control isn’t as great as it appears to be. If possible, find a supportive copilot so you don’t have to do all the work on your own. Sharing responsibilities lightens the load and increases the joy for everyone involved.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

You may have many wonderful ideas today, but they aren’t necessarily very practical ones. Your irrepressible idealism is the driving force behind your current creativity now, but it could also lead you astray. This isn’t the time for idle daydreaming. You must take action, even if you’re not yet sure of your goals. Trust your instincts and have faith that you’re heading in the right direction.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Establishing objectives in your personal life now is as important as creating them within your career. If you don’t have any specific goals, you’ll just flounder around aimlessly without direction. Don’t be a casualty of your potential professional success; your life will be more meaningful if you can find a healthy balance between your job and your family. One cannot live on bread alone.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

The overall spiritual buzz today is kind of cool, but it can be tiring to keep your mind on the more ethereal side of life. The Moon’s evening entry into conceptual Aquarius feels like a breath of fresh air, but you can’t help but think that something strange is going on. Don’t succumb to self-doubt when wondering if your perceptions of the dream world are actually valid. Just live your life knowing that your visions are as real as you allow them to be. Believe in something with all your heart and it might just come true.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

You could have big plans involving your friends today. Maybe you are considering a trip or making final arrangements for a social gathering. But there are subtle influences now that can make your choices more complicated, especially if you don’t fully understand how all the pieces fit together. Take your time and get everyone’s opinion first; the need to hurry is more arbitrary than you realize.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

You appear to be straightforward in your actions and true to your words yet there’s still more going on today than reaches the surface. Your friends may jump to erroneous conclusions, but their false assumptions are easy to fix once they are out in the open. However, problems might arise if something is left unsaid. A bit of honest feedback on your part can help, but don’t belabor your point. Share your advice and move on.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

If you are keeping a secret you may make a big fuss about something unimportant now just to distract everyone’s attention from lingering on the real deal. But you can only play the shell game for so long because it drains too much of your psychic energy. Consider what emotions might be stirred by sharing your vulnerability. Don’t just blurt out your truth without having a sensible strategy that leads to healthy closure. Finding the right person to trust is your key to success.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

You are probably quite social today, yet your interactions with others could take you in a totally unexpected direction. However, you don’t want to let go of your personal goals. Ironically, the more it appears that you are in control, the greater the gap between your expectations and reality. Trusting in the process is always a smart idea, but it will require focus and follow-through to make your dreams come true.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

Your actions at work have been pretty transparent recently because your objectives are clear and you’re determined to get what you want. But the Moon’s shift into your 12th House of Invisibility today increases the level of complexity to what you’re doing. Be careful; sending mixed signals can become a hazard if there’s something that you’re trying to hide. It’s safer to be honest and let others know what’s on your mind

Urgh, The Winter Blues, How to Beat Them!

Let’s stop the Winter Blues this year before they ever get a chance to appear. I always have the Winter blues but apparently they are not as bad as some. So to get a jump on the blues before the blues can jump us, I found some hints and tips to give us a headstart on them this year. I believe if you give some of these tips a try, you might be amazed at how well they work. Won’t hurt to try, will it?

1.  Adjust your schedule. Simply said, do less. Don’t overcommit and respect the season’s slower pace. Focus activities on the home front. Now is the time to settle into books, projects and other activities that require a long span of time. Have family game nights or invite friends over to share the fun.

2.  Adjust your environment. Invest in good lead-free candles for atmosphere, and if you have a fireplace, stock up on dry, seasoned wood. Light the area you’re living or working in, but leave lights off through the rest of the house. Turn the thermostat down to 65 degrees–leave blankets throws on chairs and couches and wear slippers to keep your feet warm and layers of fleece or wool sweaters for toastiness. Make your bed with flannel sheets and thick blankets and spreads.

3.  Purify your surroundings. Many houseplants are valuable for purifying the air, particularly peace lilies, rubber plants and spider plants. You might also invest in an air purifier for the bedroom and main living spaces. On warmer days, open the doors and windows to let fresh air in.

4.  Embrace winter herbs and spices.  Burn incense or diffuse oils in scents of cinnamon, clove, cardamon, pine or cedar. Sip herbal teas or fresh-made Chai. Simmer a kettle of hot cider or mulled wine with fresh ginger, cinnamon sticks, star anise, whole cloves, cardamom pods and thin slices of citrus.

5.  Eat for the season. Focus on grains, legumes, and warming root vegetables. Carrots are excellent for digestion, parsnips support the lungs, beets furnish elemental irons, and sweet potatoes are full of vitamins and fiber (and are delicious mashed with butter, cinnamon and brown sugar!). Try a hot cereal of oatmeal or buckwheat topped with sauteed apples or dried fruit. Enjoy roasted meats, homemade soup stock, and mugs of rich hot chocolate, each with a warming pinch of cayenne. Stewed fruit, crisps, and cobblers make delicious winter treats.

6.  Pamper your body. Enjoy warm baths, adding 1 cup of Epson salts, 1 teaspoon olive oil and a few drops of essential oil to each tubful. Try lavender for relaxation or thyme or rosemary for invigoration. If you skin is dry, replace the Epsom salts with colloidal oatmeal (or blend oatmeal to a powder in your food processor). Consider a weekly “spa night” in which you pamper yourself from head to toe.

7.  Feed your mind. This is a perfect time to dive into magickal study, work on garb or tool craft, or read the stack of books that’s accumulated on the nightstand. keep a daily journal to track your activities and monitor winter’s progress.

8.  Stay active. Engage in slower-paced excercise, such as yoga, Tai Chi or swimming (indoors). Take bundle walks through your neighborhood, watching for the seasonal changes.

9.  Serve the tribe. Take care of your own family, but reach out as well. Winter is powerful time to do volunteer work in your own community.

10.  Honor Yule, Christmas, Imbolc or whatever holidays you celebrate. The winter holidays are the perfect time for lights, gifts, and greenery: Be merry and rejoice!

Honor the winter’s rhythms and you’ll feel the magickal and health benefits that come from slowing down and embracing the season as a restorative time of quiet, rest, and reflection.
