Daily Feng Shui Tip forJanuary 23 – ‘National Pie Day’

Here’s an interesting fact worth sharing on today’s ‘National Pie Day.’ Did you know that at one time pies were illegal? Englishman Oliver Cromwell banned all pies in the Commonwealth because he believed them to harbor mystical and magical energies. According to ancient lore, he might have been right. These legends say that round pies induce a connection to spirits while square pies promote prosperity. Pies topped with intricate latticework induce protective energies while apple pie offer healing and peace. And who doesn’t love a good peace of pie?

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Jan. 21 – ‘Dr. Martin Luther King’

Today commemorates the birth date of a modern day martyr, Dr. Martin Luther King. I am forever grateful to Dr. King as I remember the way he attempted to impact people who have long killed the messenger without trying to understand the message. This most special day remembers the birth of the man who dedicated his entire life promoting a message of equality, truth and fairness. Let each of us today promote peace in our own way. One of the ways we can do that is to invite peace into our lives, starting with what should be a most peaceful sanctuary, the bedroom. Using any shade of blue or green in that space is believed to heal both the spirit and the soul. From the paint on the walls to the accessories all around, try a splash of blue. And then go green. Heal you. Heal the planet. In honor of someone who tried to do exactly that. Happy birthday, Dr. King. I share your dream.

Your Tarot Card for January 9th is Judgment

Judgment

Wednesday, Jan 9th, 2013

What has traditionally been known as the Judgment card, sometimes entitled Resurrection, represents the great reunion that the ancients believed would happen once in every age. This was the time when souls are harvested and taken Home to their place of origin, outside the solar system. Then the World is seeded with a batch of new souls and the process starts over.

From a modern point of view, this great reunion — which includes every personality that you have ever been and every soul that you have done deep work with — reunites to consciously complete the process. In a way, we symbolically celebrate this returning to center every year on our birthday.

In personal terms, the Judgment cards points to freedom from inner conflicts, and so clear a channel, that the buried talents and gifts of past incarnations can come through an individual in this lifetime. This card counsels you to trust the process of opening yourself, because what emerges is of consistently high quality. You can effortlessly manifest as a multi-dimensional being, and assist in evoking that response from others.

Terminalia: Janus’s Day

Color: Dark Blue and Black
Element: Air
Altar: Upon cloth of dark blue and black place a ruler, and on one side things of the past, and on the other side things for the future, including a goblet of wine.
Offerings: Measure something accurately. Any work requiring measuring is honored today.
Daily Meal: Any old-fashioned recipe.

Invocation to Janus

Hail, Lord Who Looks Both Ways!
Hail, face of the past
Turned towards memory!
You see all that has been,
Not only our beginnings,
But our past deeds
Which have brought us to this day.
May we learn to take responsibility for them.
Hail, face of the future
Turned towards possibility!
You see all that might be,
A multitude of choices,
Yet that multitude is pruned
Back to a likely few
By the deeds of the past.
Hail, Lord who stands at the boundary
Of then and now, of there and here.
We stand also at that boundary.
Teach us to see how the past
Shapes the future in its hands,
That we may not be blind to our own divinity.

Chant:
Measure the line
With memory
Stand on the line
Of possibility

(Pour out the libation of wine and exit. Work today should concentrate on making or mending things. See especially to fences and gates. Planning for future events is also acceptable.)

Unlucky January Dates

      Unlucky January Dates

1. 2. 4. 5. 10. 15. 17. 29.

According to the English historian Richard Grafton these certain dates of the month were unlucky as published in the ‘Manual’ in 1565. Days throughout the year were identified and of course could have related to any day of the week. The date was the most important point to consider. The work was reputed to have some credence with support given by astronomers of the day. Exactly why these dates are unlucky is unclear today but by looking at the calendar of days an idea of the major occurrences can be seen.

Seeking A Spell, Let’s See What We Can Conjure For You Today – Three Red Leaves Spell

Witchy Comments
A spell to protect the most powerful part of your being, your mind…

Three Red Leaves Spell

This spell is used to protect the mind against things such as nightmares, negative thoughts and ‘invasions of evil.’ First you must gather three red leaves from any tree, plant or bush. Lay them in a triangle on a flat surface. In the center of the leaves, place an already lighted candle, and place a few drops of chrysanthemum oil on each leaf.

Repeat the following chant three times:

“Red leaves, gift from Earth,

Birth to death and death to birth,

Keep all evil far away.

Day to night and night to day.”

Then extinguish the candle and wrap the leaves in a white cloth or pouch. Place this near your bed within three feet of your head and it will stop all nightmares and negative thoughts.

Evergreen Day

Color: Dark green and red
Element: Earth
Altar: Bare, with a red cloth. This is the day when evergreens are brought into the house from outside, to honor the spirits of the forest. All will go out at the beginning of Sponde and gather armloads of them, and bring them in to be laid in great heaps upon the altar.
Offerings: Put food outside for the forest spirits.
Daily Meal: Vegetarian

Evergreen Invocation

Hail to the Spirits of the Wild!
Hail to the life of the trees
Who do not sleep, but are awake and alive
Even through the coldest of winters!
Hail to the oldest, those who stood their watch
Long before tender leaves grew
On the branches of your descendants.
Hail to you who show us life
Even in the midst of death,
Hail to you who give us scent
Even in the midst of sleeping.
Hail to you who give the creatures
Of the wild their winter sustenance
And shelter among your branches.
Hail to the Wild Men, the spirits
Who danced through the houses of our ancestors
Bringing your blessings to the people.
Now we shall warm you in our home,
Until the time comes that you shall warm us.

Song: Evergreen: Song for the Wild Men

(All shall then take the evergreen branches and disperse them through the house, making wreath and garlands and hanging them wherever the blessings of the wild spirits are needed. A Yule tree is decorated on this day, with symbols of our faith.)

Mother Cougar

Isn’t she beautiful? She looks nice in the picture doesn’t she. Don’t let looks fool you. That is a picture of the Momma Cougar we have right now. Lady A finally got the camera and waited till momma settled down. Then snapped the photo above. That is where Lady A is at today. She is trying to find a place to release momma. She told me she had several conservation places she had to call. I know some is public and others are private. I believe Lady A wants to find a private area to release her in. If it is private, there will be no danger of the cougar ever being harmed. Then when the kits are big enough, we could release them in the same area.

Lady A is conducting business and you get stuck with me.  Lady made me make one promise to her, “don’t crash the computer, lol.” I promised I wouldn’t. If I had any problem I would scream and let her know. That was embarrassing. I don’t know how I crashed it. When I was thru with the computer that day, all I saw was a blank screen. Lady wasn’t mad or anything. She was very calm and just told me I should have called her. I know she doesn’t want to see the momma cougar go. I figured I would give Lady all the time she wanted to spend with the cougar. I figured wrong. I could have run the computer down there to her. But the cougar doesn’t take kindly to strangers. I have seen that cat’s teeth once to often.

I think I should get busy now. I hope everything will be normal today. I am going to try my best to keep it that way.

Have a very nice day,

Annie

Day of the Frost King

Color: White
Element: Air
Altar: Upon cloth of thick, soft white place a figure of the Frost King, his sleigh, snowflakes, icicles, and many gifts given to each other. The gifts shall be removed to the Yule Tree later.
Offerings: Give gifts to each other.
Daily Meal: Frozen dishes.

Invocation to the Frost King

Hail to the Lord of Frost!
Hail to his sleigh of bells
Pulled by the beasts of the tundra
Or by snow-white horses
Through the thick white cloak of the Snow Queen.
Hail to the lace-maker, the artist
With his silver brushes, the giver of Death
In the most beautiful and painless way.
Hail to you who are found in many places,
Many stories, many tales, many rites
Around the world, and whose gifts pile up
Around the great Tree where you ride.
Gift-giver, you found the maiden in the snow
And near froze her with your testing,
Yet when she awoke there was fire, and riches
All around her. You smote the ungenerous
And the greedy, for in your world
No one refuses to share. That is the First Law
O f Survival. Share what you have,
Be it fire, food, drink, comradeship,
A warm cloak against the winds,
A warm body against the cold.
Let each day be a gift-giving, you say,
For if all gifts wait until the longest night
We will all be cold indeed.
Hail to you, Father of Winter,
And may you teach us generosity with your knowing smile.

(All bring gifts from the altar and give them to each other, saying why the gift was given, and blessing each person present.)

November 28 – Daily Feast

November 28 – Daily Feast

Cold wind and mist have pushed in to dampen the spirits of grownups – but not the children. These natural things are a part of their enjoyment during a Thanksgiving holiday. The woods ring with voices and the sounds of sword fights as rotten sticks collide in midair. No real duel could be this exciting or cause so many to roll in the leaves or to hide behind the gnarled wild rose. Evening brings a rush of feet. Coyotes have set up their evening concert and the horned owl has squalled enough to impress them that it must be suppertime beside the fire. It has been a good day and something to remember thankfully.

CHIEF WENINOCK – YAKIMA

‘A Cherokee Feast of Days, Volume II’ by Joyce Sequichie Hifler

Good Blessed Tuesday Morning dear friends!

I would like to thank each of you that helped us to meet our domain obligation. We all deeply appreciate your generosity.  The WOTC has always been Lady A’s dream and as she said “her baby.” She is the driving force behind this site. To see her stop crying and being angry and upset is worth the world to me. You have my deepest gratitude for just that.

Thank you for all you have done for us. We appreciation your donations, love and support.

Goddess Bless You,

Annie

Valraven’s Day

Color: Black
Element: Air
Altar: Upon a black cloth set a black stone, a white stone, a chalice of mead, a knife, a skull, and the figure of a black winged horse.
Offerings: Kneel and meditate on Death. Face a fear that is long overdue.
Daily Meal: Meat.

Invocation to Valraven

Black horse that runs across the sky
Ridden by Valkyries in their battle-wrath
Ridden by Hel in her implacable coldness
Riding the spirits of the air in turn,
Show us our dreams
And not our nightmares,
Yet if you must bring us nightmares,
Let them be guides to the darkest corners
Of our hidden mind and soul,
The better to know ourselves.
Black horse that runs across the sky
On great black wings,
Let us listen for the rustle of your feathers
In our ear as we lie awake
In that moment before sleeping.
Let us go to visit you
Where you are enthroned
In the place of smooth black stone
The place where no light falls
The place where the Dead pass by
On their way from rainbow to earth
On their way past Mordgud’s toll
On their way past Nidhogg’s working
On their way over chill water
Into the icy realm of Death
Where only your Queen rules.
And when we come as your guests,
Lord who lives beneath the ground
And rides the winds in the sky,
May we always be free to leave.
(Hum one wordless note, then blow out the candles and leave in silence.)

Friendship Comments & Graphics

I just dropped by to check on Lady A. I found her crying and very upset. She told me about our domain and the renewal issue. I started a pot of coffee and told her to go stretch out and relax. Everything would work out, if it is the Goddess’ will. I will tell you this means the world to Lady A. She loves doing this every day for you. I know myself and the others that know her believe she has been called to do this work. I don’t want all we have put into this site to be lost. I am going this week to some local donors and see what I can do. If you can help at all, it would mean the world to us.

Have patience with us today. Things are out of sorts and I will try my best to get us back on track.

Thank You and Goddess Bless You,

Annie

Vainamoinen’s Day

Colors: Blue and orange
Element: Fire
Altar: On a blue cloth lay the figure of a ship, a sword, and three orange candles. Lean a shaman’s staff up against the altar.
Offerings: Pictures from faraway lands. Explore a new area of knowledge, especially from another culture.
Daily Meal: Traveler’s food, done up in separate packages, to be eaten as one walks the bounds of the property.

Invocation to Vainamoinen

Thirty years in your mother’s womb,
Born already old before your time,
Walker, wanderer, adventurer,
Doomed never to be at home,
Solitary one who failed
Even to gain a mate to ease
Loneliness, you beckon to us
And tell us of far horizons
Outside and inside both.
Keeper of Words of Power,
Knower of the True Names of things,
Old man who walks in unknown places
With your wizard’s staff ,
Great boots and a battered hat,
Shrewd one, banished for your
Prophecy of truth that would
One day rend the world
Yet even you could not impede,
Maker of ships, maker of magic,
Stauncher of blood and pain,
Make sure that we never become
So comfortable in our patterns
That we forget the wide, wide world outside.

Song: Vainamoinen’s Song

(Each person approaches the altar in turn, takes the shaman’s staff in hand, and walks in a circle around the room, returning the staff to the altar. It must not be passed hand to hand. Then each leaves to be alone with themselves; work through Akte and Elekte is done alone.)
