Daily Feng Shui News for Jan. 20th – ‘Penguin Awareness Day’

It’s ‘Penguin Awareness Day’ and I thought I might fill you in on the lore involving having a penguin as your power animal or totem. Should you adopt a penguin as your power animal, expect a two-month period in which you will nurture, protect and then hatch creative energies that will propel you up the ladder of success. This information is ages-old and in black and white, so if you want to stir up some creative opportunities, then put an image of a penguin in the ‘Creativity’ area of your living space (middle of right-hand wall) and watch how things start to go swimmingly for you.

Today’s Tarot Card for January 20th is Judgment

Judgment

Monday, Jan 20th, 2014

What has traditionally been known as the Judgment card, sometimes entitled Resurrection, represents the great reunion that the ancients believed would happen once in every age. This was the time when souls are harvested and taken Home to their place of origin, outside the solar system. Then the World is seeded with a batch of new souls and the process starts over.

From a modern point of view, this great reunion — which includes every personality that you have ever been and every soul that you have done deep work with — reunites to consciously complete the process. In a way, we symbolically celebrate this returning to center every year on our birthday.

In personal terms, the Judgment cards points to freedom from inner conflicts, and so clear a channel, that the buried talents and gifts of past incarnations can come through an individual in this lifetime. This card counsels you to trust the process of opening yourself, because what emerges is of consistently high quality. You can effortlessly manifest as a multi-dimensional being, and assist in evoking that response from others.

Calendar of the Moon for Monday, January 20th

Calendar of the Moon

20 Luis/Gamelion

Warding Night

Color: Black and orange-red
Element: Fire
Altar: Upon cloth of black and orange red lay many bunches of rowan berries, dried from the past year and tied with red thread and a single animal’s bone. Set around the altar many candles in jars that can be carried, and a large bowl of salt water.
Offerings: Offer to protect those you love from harm.
Daily Meal: Can be any food, but it should be put into separate bowls, and all will eat while they keep separate vigils on guard.

Warding Night Invocation

Within these walls no harm shall come.
Within these walls shall set no foot
Intending to do wrong to those inside.
Within these walls shall come no ghost
Or spirit seeking to feed on the
Warm life of flesh and blood.
Within these walls no sorrow
From outside may creep in,
Save that it offer itself to be healed.
Within these walls stands the haven
Of sacred ground, and we shall stand
As guards to protect our sacred space.
Let no one enter lest they understand
That what lies within shall touch them,
And they shall not go away unchanged.
Go now, and guard our home
Like the mother bear protects her young,
Like the mother serpent defends her nest,
Like the father wolf prowls his territory.
We ward this home against all evil
And evil shall be turned by the strength of our hearts.

(Each takes a candle, chanting a wordless chant, and goes to a different part of the house, passing first through the kitchen in order to take their meal. With meal, and candle, and such handwork as they choose to do, each shall retire to a different part of the place alone, or in groups but only if there are enough that each solitary part of the home has its guardian. There they shall wait, and watch, and keep vigil, and strengthen the wards on the home with their minds and the flame of the candle. When it has burned down, or midnight comes, they may retire.)

Feralia Invocation

Breathe the air into your body
And breathe out again,
And as you breathe out,
Let all grime and corruption
Depart on that breath
(All breathe together for twelve breaths.)
Feel the blood coursing through your body
And imagine it clean
Of anything but what should be there.
Feel the energy coursing through your body
And wash it clean
Of anything that does not belong.
Feel the Earth beneath you,
Remember that She can absorb all
Remember that all rot is her provenance
Draw her energy up into you
And give it back again.

(After this grounding, all breathe together again in a yogic breathing pattern for the next half an hour, after which all will go with water and salt and incense and fire to all rooms in the house and cleanse them. Great care should be taken for the rest of the day not to disturb the energy of the freshly cleaned house.)

Let’s Talk Witch – Mojo Bags, What Are They & How To Make One

Witchy Comments & Graphics

What is a Mojo Bag & How to Make One for Any Purpose

A mojo bag is an amulet, generally small and made of flannel though they can be larger and made of other materials, in which magical objects are combined in order to manifest intent.  It is a physical representation of a spell.

Other names include conjure hand or conjure bag, gris-gris, jomo, lucky bag, mojo hand or simply hand, trick bag, toby, prayer in a bag, root bag, and wanga or oanga bag. Different names are popular in different areas of the world and with different people but these things are all basically the same.

How to Make a Mojo Bag for any Purpose

The first thing to do when you want to make a mojo bag is to determine your intent.  Once you know where you want to go, creating the bag is very simple.

While making every mojo bag out of red flannel is common in some parts, many people prefer to choose a color which corresponds with their intent and by doing so, strengthening their spell.  You’ll need to decide if you want to stick with traditional red flannel or employ color magick.

Nearly all mojo bags are made of flannel, though sometimes other materials are used such as leather or silk, depending on the desires and intentions of the maker. Any material will work, your intent is always going to be the key in making a successful bag, but flannel is generally preferred.

After creating your bag in the color and material of your choosing, you’ll want to fill it with magickal objects. Items commonly placed in mojo bags include herbs, crystals and gemstones and papers. Really anything can be included as long as it strengthens your work.

Some people will always include the same number of items in any bag they make, others will always include an odd number of items in their bags; while still others will just add whatever they believe will work together and don’t pay attention to the number of items they use. Seven is traditionally a magickal number, so if you have no preference you can start using seven as your base point.

Once you’ve determined what you’re going to put inside the bag, you are ready to fix it. There are many acceptable methods to do this.

Tomorrow, we will discuss items to put in your mojo bag, breathing life into it and feeding it. Yes, no typo, feeding your mojo bag! Who knew?

When you add each essential oil to the mix, blend it by moving the bowl and swirling the oil in a clockwise and/or counterclockwise motion.

Apply the oil externally to your genitals, chest, neck and wrists. Store what you do not use in an airtight container and place out of the reach of sunlight (not in the bathroom).

Making Ointments

Making Ointments

Ointments are easily made. They consist simply of herbs or oils and a base. In the past, hog’s lard was the preferred base because it was readily available, but vegetable shortening or beeswax produces the best results. The base must be a greasy substance that melts over heat but is solid at room temperature. Some herbalists actually use dinosaur fat (i.e., Vaseline, which is prepared from petroleum)!
There are two basic ways to create magickal ointments, the shortening method and the beeswax method.
The Shortening Method

Gently heat four parts shortening over low heat until liquefied. Watch that it doesn’t burn. Add one part dried herbal mixture, blend with a wooden spoon until thoroughly mixed, and continue heating until the          shortening has extracted the scent. You should be able to smell it in the air.
Strain through cheesecloth into a heat-proof container, such as a canning jar. Add one-half teaspoon tincture of benzoin to each pint of ointment as a natural preservative. Store in a cool, dark place, such as the refrigerator. Ointments should last for weeks or months. Discard any that turn moldy, and lay in a fresh batch.
The Beeswax Method
This process creates a more cosmetic ointment without a heavy, greasy feeling. It is best to prepare it with oils rather than herbs, as it is difficult to strain.
If possible, use unbleached beeswax. If not, use what you can find. Chip it with alarge, sharp knife so that you can pack it into a measuring cup. Place one-fourth cup or so of beeswax in the top of a double boiler(such as a coffee can set into a larger pot of water). Add about one-fourth cup olive, hazelnut, sesame or some other vegetable oil. Stir with a wooden spoon until the wax has melted into the oil.
Remove from the heat and let cool very slightly, until it has just begun to thicken. (This step is taken so that the hot wax won’t evaporate the oils.) Now add the mixed oils to the wax. Stir thoroughly with a wooden spoon and pour into a heat-proof container. Label and store in the usual way.

A Little Humor for Your Day – ‘Mirror, Mirror?’

Mirror, mirror on the wall

Do you have to tell it all?

Where do you get the glaring right

To make my clothes look too darn tight?

I think I’m fine but I can see

You won’t cooperate with me,

The way you let the shadows play

You’d think my hair was getting gray.

What’s that, you say?

A double chin?

No, that’s the way the light comes in,

If you persist in peering so

You’ll confiscate my facial glow,

And then if you’re not hanging straight

You’ll tell me next I’m gaining weight,

I’m really quite upset with you

For giving this distorted view;

I hate you being smug and wise

O, look what’s happened to my thighs!

I warn you now, O mirrored wall,

Since we’re not on speaking terms at all,

If I look like this in my new jeans

You’ll find yourself in smithereens!!

Today’s Tarot Card for January 16th is The Star

The Star

Thursday, Jan 16th, 2014

What has traditionally been known as the Star card is about reconnecting one’s Soul with the Divine — the transcending of personality, family, community and reputation. It has to do ultimately with the freedom to be one’s Self. The Soul is responding to celestial influences — forces that can provide the personality with a stronger sense of purpose. The Star card helps us to remember our exalted origins and our attraction to a Higher Union.

This card could also be called the “Celestial Mandate” — that which refers us back to our reason for being, our mission in this lifetime. The Star reminds us that, in a sense, we are agents of Divine Will in our day-to-day lives. If we let go of the idea that we are supposed to be in control, we can more easily notice and appreciate the synchronicities that are nudging us along. In this way, we become more conscious of the invisible Helping Hand, and we better understand our place within — and value to — the larger Cosmos.

The Witches Magick for Jan. 16th – Change for the Better Spell

Witchy Comments
CHANGE FOR THE BETTER

You will need for this spell:

Athame

Wand

Sword

A chalice of water

A pile of white stones

A white candle

A pink candle

A blue candle

A violet candle a yellow candle

A poppet

A picture of someone you wish to transform into a better person

For this spell I suggest you use an actual circle of earth, stones or anything else instead of using an athame or incense to inscribe it. Place the white candle in the center of the circle with the blue candle at the north, the yellow candle at the south, pink to the west and violet to the east. Place the pile of white stones in the center of the circle around the base of the candle. To get maximum power into the spell, place your pentacle at the base of the blue candle, you athame at the base of the pink, the wand at the yellow and the chalice at the violet.

Call corners, saluting each direction with your sword, invoking Hapy (N), Imset (S), Duamutef (E), and Quebehsnuf (W), saying each time:

“Hail ______, Lord of the Watchtower of the _____, let your strength be one with mine.”

Place the poppet with the picture tied in place onto the head, into the white candle and say:

“Let the flame of white burn into thee purity.”

Move up to each of the other candles in this order: NWSE, saying:

“Let the flame of blue burn into thee peace and truth

Let the flame of pink burn into thee happiness

Let the flame of yellow burn into thee joy

Let the flame of violet burn into thee insight and intuition.”

Ground power by jabbing your sword into the earth at the center, North and South, saying:

“Circle open, but unbroken.”

Then jab at the West and East, saying:

“Power down, to the ground”

Smother the flames of each candle with the tip of your sword in this order – Center, N, S, W, E.

A Question for Pessomancy

A Question for Pessomancy

Wolf Moon
Pessomancy is a form of divination that uses seeds or pebbles. Traditionally the diviner throws the seeds, then from  their pattern interprets their meaning.
To perform this spell, you will need a white candle, a blank piece of paper with a line drawn down the middle, and nine  bean seeds or nine pebbles.
Light the candle while dedicating it to the Goddess. Place the candle in a holder, and put it on your altar. Lay the  paper down in front of it. The line down the middle of the paper should line up with the candle. Say the following:
Goddess of light
Let my future shine bright!
Think about the question, and as you do, drop the seeds or pebbles on the line drawn on the paper. The seeds and pebbles  that fall on the left side are favorable to the outcome of the question, whereas those seeds and stones that fall on the right side point to things not  working out. The number of seeds and stones that fall on either side of the line indicate whether or not the overcome will be positive or negative. When you  are done, allow the candle to burn out completely.

Swan Maiden Meditation

Swan Maiden Meditation

(Wolf Moon)
Tonight you will be dreaming with the Swan Maidens. Said to have created the Milky Way they dress in feathers and wear  silver or gold necklaces and crowns. They are partial to moonstones, skylarks, butterflies, and flowers. Swan Maidens appear as white swans or beautiful and  humanlike, with large eyes and white skin scented like lilies. Only dangerous when threatened, they are graceful and enchantingly beautiful faeries known for  their powerful magick and helpful ways.
As you are drifting off to sleep, imagine your arms becoming wings. Moving them up and down, you begin to fly up in the  air. You find yourself in a flock of Swan Maidens, who take you to an enchanted place where golden chains hold up palaces hanging from a giant tree. Below is  a pool of water that contains all knowledge and wisdom.
You fly down next to the pool of water and look up at the towering tree that houses all realms of being. You think about  something you want to know and reach down to scoop up a handful of the water. As you drink, the knowledge rushes into every part of your being. Give yourself  the suggestion that you will remember what you want to know when you wake up in the morning. When you awaken, make a note of all you recall from your dreams  in your journal.

The Cauldron of Kerridwen Potion

The Cauldron of Kerridwen Potion

Wolf Moon

Containing the magickal potion of inspiration, the Cauldron of Kerridwen was kept at either Caer  Sidhe or the Corona Borealis. Three drop of this magick potion would confer wisdom on any who had the courage to drink it. In mythology, nine maidens guarded  the brew, making it a task worthy of Hercules or Zena to procure the potion. Thankfully, you don’t have to go to that extreme because you can make your  own using the following instructions.

For this spell, you will need a clear quartz crystal and a chalice filled with spring  water.

Begin by clearing and programming your clear quartz crystal. Place the crystal in your power hand,  while at the same time placing the middle finger and thumb of your other hand on the bottom and top of the crystal. In your mind’s eye imagine a clear  mountain stream running through the crystal, washing it clean of all energy. Use the Vogel Pulsed-Breath technique to charge the crystal, only this time  imprint the image of the clear mountain stream instead of the moon into the stone. Pulse your breath into the crystal filling the stone with the image in in  your mind. Repeat the process three times for best results.

Repeat the process, only this time imagine all the creative things you want to put into the crystal.  Bring them all together into one image and then use your breath to pulse the image into the crystal. Do this three times to make sure the crystal is  thoroughly programmed.

Place the crystal in the cup of spring water, and leave it there overnight. In the morning, place  the potion in an enclosed jar, and use sparingly, three drops at a time, for filling yourself and everyone around you with creative energy.

Daily Feng Shui News for Jan 15 – ‘Humanitarian Day’

On ‘Humanitarian Day’ do something totally swell for someone without letting them know. Pay the toll for the car behind you or sneak a latte onto a coworker’s desk without telling them who put it there. Then do something in your own space that will affect a shift towards peace and harmony. Bring home a healthy green plant, or hang a round and faceted crystal somewhere in your space. The plant will facilitate healing on every level while the crystal will lift the soul and the psyche. When you do anything to improve the place where you reside, you will also improve the neighborhood you live in. And why stop there? This ripple effect can improve the whole world. Just one special something placed with intent inside your space can have a huge impact on the entire universe. That makes you a real and true humanitarian and global citizen in good standing.

The Daily Motivator for Jan. 14th – Lumpy richness

Lumpy richness

There will be pleasure and pain, triumphs and regrets. Embrace it all as it  comes, make the best of it, and move steadily forward.

Disappointments will come, and then new opportunities will soon appear. Each  day, each season will have its share of ups and downs, beginnings and  endings.

Life is wonderfully rich, and yet that richness is not creamy and smooth like  a chocolate milkshake. Life’s richness is highly lumpy and inconsistent, and  that’s what makes it so magnificent.

You’re much more able to fully treasure the good times when you’ve been  through difficulties. The victories taste so much sweeter after a string of  defeats.

Just remember as you go along that it’s all part of the richness. Just as  night gives value to day which in turn gives value to night, all life’s  experiences mesh together in a truly sumptuous adventure.

On this day, in this moment, it is all yours to take in. Whatever may come,  treasure the richness in all its lumpiness, now and always.

Daily Feng Shui News for Jan. 14 – ‘Caesarean Section Day’

Because I have had one myself, on today’s ‘Caesarean Section Day’ I’d like to pass along a critical tip for those of you who have had one too. If you’re still carrying scar tissue where you once carried a baby, this next technique is for you. Break open a vitamin E capsule and pour the oil into the palm of your hand. Massage that oil into the area of the scar for at least three minutes. The combination of this oil and your massage will help to break it up scar tissue so that you can eliminate it easily. Do this every few months and, oh baby, will you feel better.

Let’s Talk Witch – Knot Magick

Let’s Talk Witch – Knot Magick

In spellcrafting, knots offer a simple way to contain or loosen energy. The obvious symbolism of tying a knot indicates an intention to bind something or someone. If, for example, you wanted to prevent an enemy from harming you, you could create a poppet to represent your enemy and bind his hands and feet with string. If a witch preceives unwanted energies in a space–especially whle performing a spell–she can tie a knot in a piece of clothing or the altar cloth to trap that energy until after the magickal working.

You can tie energy of any kind into a knot.  Witches sometimes tie a line of knots on a long cord, placing thoughts, emotions, incantations, etc. into the knots. These lines are sometimes called a witch’s Ladder. Untying a knot at a later date frees the energy bound therein.

You can use knot symbolism in the following types of spells:

Binding and banishing ( especially illness and negative energy)

Channeling energy into a specific location (the energy can be captured in the knot, and then released when it’s most needed)

Securing relationships  (hence the term “tying the knot” to refer to marriage)

Tying up the loose ends of a situationo

You can tie intentions into knots too. Let’s say you want to stablize your finances. The best number for this purpose is four. You could make a money charm and secure the pouch with a gold ribbon. Tie four knots in the ribbon and concentrate on your goal each time you tie a knot. Or tie a ribbon around your bills, using four knots to limit the outflow of money.
