What is Brigid the goddess of?

Brigid is the goddess of the flame and the well, patroness of healing, poetry and smithcraft. She is a solar deity so her attributes are related to fire, light, and the hearth. 🔥

Brighid is the Celtic goddess of inspiration and also carries various powers related to inspiration, such as the art of healing, and divination. She was the patroness of sacred perpetual flames, such as that held by 19 nuns in a sanctuary in Kildare, Ireland (now in honor of St. Brigit).

The tradition of female priestesses who tend to eternal sacred flames is prevalent in ancient Indo-European spirituality. Other examples include the goddess Hestia, who watches over the hearth of the home, or Minerva.

Having a Hard Time Concentrating on Regular Posts Why?…

I am in a major Fibromyalgia flare because of the snowstorm that’s coming to hit the midwestern US starting this afternoon or late night. This plus the stress with everything going on in my children’s lives both blood and heart is causing a great dose of brain fog. Any who not all the realgar posts are going up and some may even be missing something on the tomorrow posts. UGH I can’t even remember what I want to say to you without messing it up. Hopefully I will be better able to focus tomorrow. Until than have a fantastic or at least an ok day!

Alaska’s Arctic waterways are turning orange, threatening drinking water

Dozens of once crystal-clear streams and rivers in Arctic Alaska are now running bright orange and cloudy, and, in some cases, they may be becoming more acidic. This otherwise undeveloped landscape now looks as if an industrial mine has been in operation for decades, and scientists want to know why.

Roman Dial, a professor of biology and mathematics at Alaska Pacific University, first noticed the starkest water-quality changes while doing field work in the Brooks Range in 2020. He spent a month with a team of six graduate students, and they could not find adequate drinking water. “There’s so many streams that are not just stained, they’re so acidic that they curdle your powdered milk,” he said. In others, the water was clear, “but you couldn’t drink it (because) it had a really weird mineral taste and tang.”

Dial, who has spent the last 40 years exploring the Arctic, was gathering data on climate-change-driven changes in Alaska’s tree line for a project that also includes work from ecologists Patrick Sullivan, director of the Environment and Natural Resources Institute at the University of Alaska Anchorage, and Becky Hewitt, an environmental studies professor at Amherst College. Now, the team is digging into the water-quality mystery. “I feel like I’m a grad student all over again in a lab that I don’t know anything about, and I’m fascinated by it,” Dial said.

INGREDIENTS

  • Clean tins with lids

  • Double boiler

  • Spatula

  • Liquid measuring cup

  • 3/4 Cup Calendula Oil

  • 1/4 Cup Coconut Oil

  • 6 Teaspoons Beeswax

  • 1/2 Teaspoon Arrowroot

  • 1 Teaspoon Vitamin E Oil

  • 15 – 18 Drops Lavender Essential Oil

DIRECTIONS

  • Add water to the bottom pot of a double boiler.
  • Pour the Calendula oil into the top pot, making sure that the oil has non-direct and even heat to prevent burning.
  • Bring your double boiler to a low heat and add in the beeswax and coconut oil.
  • Once everything has melted, add the lavender essential oil & vitamin E drops.
  • Stir the mixture with a spatula, and then quickly take it off the heat.
  • Put this mixture into a liquid measuring cup to make pouring your final product easier.
  • Slowly pour into each tin, and allow the salves to cool.
  • Touch each tin and repeat these words:
    “In the divine name of the Goddess who breathes life into us all, I consecrate and charge this salve as a magical tool for healing. Blessed be!”
  • Your Magical Healing Salve is now ready for use!
  • Whenever you use it say:
    “Today I shall use this magical salve,

Use a blend of herbs and essential oils to create this healing bowl.

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  • Light your rosemary incense, cast a circle and call the quarters if you wish.
  • Anoint a white candle using any of the oils suggested above and light it.
  • Mix the herbs in a mortar and pestle and say:
    “Herbs of green, herbs of health,
    Give me well being, good luck, and wealth.”
  • Repeat this chant until the herbs are well combined and crushed.
  • Add the herbs and oils to the salt in a bowl.
  • Stir with the pointer finger of your dominant hand and say the charm again, until you’ve said it nine times in total.
  • Take a few deep breaths, letting the scent go into your sinus cavities.
  • Open your circle if you’ve cast one and let the candle burn down.
  • Place the bowl in the middle of the room you’re most in and your sinuses should clear.
