ALL ABOUT SPELLS

ALL ABOUT SPELLS

The spell is at the heart of folk magick. it is simply a ritual in which various
tools are purposefully used, the goal is fully stated (in words, pictures or
within the mind): & energy is moved to bring about the needed result.

Spells can be as simple as reciting a short chant over a fresh rose while
placing it between 2 pink candles in order to draw love; forming & retaining an
image of the needed result in the mind; or placing a quartz crystal in a sunny
window for protection purposes.

To perform effective magick – 3 necessities must be present: The Need, the
Emotion & the Knowledge.

It has been said that magick was the first religion, & that if you lovingly
utilize the forces of nature to cause beneficial change, you also become one of
them.

It is these powers that have been personified as Goddesses & Gods. Attuning with
them is a spiritual experience & is the basic of all true religion.

COMPOSE THE RHYME OR WORDS OF POWER

Clearly state your need.

Clearly state all dimensions of your need (enduring love, rather than just love;
complete protection, rather than just physical protection; etc.).

If possible, mention some of the tools that you’ve decided to use in the spell
in your words of power or magickal rhyme. Indeed, for some spells, these words
may help you to structure the entire rhyme or chant.

Use hypnotic words (those beginning with ‘s” or containing a “z”) for psychic-
awareness, love, healing spells; Use potent, strong words for protection spells.
match the words to the type of ritual you’re composing.

Don’t expect the words to simply flow from you. Work at it & work with them.
Your psychic mind knows what you need.

EXAMPLES:

“I ask in the name of (Goddess & God or The All) that I, Morgan, be granted
(state desire)…I ask that this be correct & for the good of all people. So
mote it be. In no way will this spell reverse, or place upon me any curse.”

“In this night & in this hour, I call upon the Ancient power. O Goddess Bride &
Consort Bright, I ask thee now to bring your light.”

“I have a need that must be met. I ask thee (name of deity) that I obtain the
perfect (whatever it is) for (reason).”

“I ask the Universe to lend the power of all the correct astrological
correspondences so they may enter this circle now to obtain my desire.”

“Therefore, I specifically draw toward myself the (desire) without affecting the
free will of all & harming none.”

“I now proclaim this spell is done. The (desire) is mine! In no way will this
spell reverse, or place upon me any curse! As I will, so mote it be!”

“In this sacred space & time, We call now the Old Ones; the Goddess of the moon,
seas & rivers; the God of the rayed Sun, of valleys & forests; Draw near us
during this, our circle.

BREAKING A SPELL

First Saturday after Full Moon or on a Full Moon; One white & One black candle
for balance; Props: protective nature (amethyst, apache tears or smoky quartz)

– Say:

“One the Eve of ( ) I cast a spell & the effect I created I must now quell.
Specifically ( ) May this spell be lifted & I now be gifted Specifically with
( )”

SPELLS TO BIND
A binding spell is the act of grasping the negative energy that is propelling a
person or thing & stopping it. In a way, you are negating the unhealthy energy.

The most important thing to remember when conducting a binding spell is that you
must control your own violent emotions of hatred or fear. The binding spell is
for protection only, not for harm. This is not easy. The Goddess to be employed
is Aradia, Queen of Witches. Be sure you are honest in your intentions. Aradia’s
symbol is the red garter. If you desire justice call upon Maat, she who balances
the scales. However, you must be sure that your own hands are free from violence
& hatred, lest she weighs the scales for you as well! Her symbol is the pure
white feather.

The binding itself is a very simple matter. A poppet can be sewn to represent
the malicious person. Fill it with earth (grave dirt if you can find it),
rosemary, sage, a piece of smoky quartz & a piece of amethyst. Also enclose a
piece of the person’s fingernails, a lock of hair, or another personal item.
Handwriting can be enclosed if you have nothing else. Photos can be used also.
If your intention at any time during the ritual is to harm that person, remember
that you will only bring harm upon yourself – so be very, very careful.

If you can’t do the ritual right away, store the doll (with the head still open)
in a white cloth. During the ritual, you will sew up the head while connecting a
psychic link. Then you will proceed to sew arms & legs of the doll together. You
will finish by wrapping the doll mummy-fashion with a black ribbon. Bury the
doll when you have completed the ritual.

A person can also be bound using mental capabilities.

Placing a sample of a person’s handwriting & copper tightly in an old bell jar
is a way of stopping malicious gossip. When the danger is over, burn the
handwriting.

The Witches Spell for October 10 – Curse Unraveling Ritual

Witchy Comments

 Curse Unraveling Ritual

Materials:

1 black/white reversible candle (If you can’t find one of these, substitute a white candle which you’ve colored completely with a black permanent marker.)

1 yellow candle

Uncrossing Incense

Charcoal block

Fire-proof dish

Cauldron or fire pit

Scissors

Sweater

Light the reversible candle and visualize the magick reversing itself. Light the yellow candle and see the effort meeting with success. Then light the charcoal block and sprinkle the incense on top.

Now sit in a comfortable position in front of the cauldron or fire pit. Using the scissors, cut the neck and cuff ribbing away from the sweater and toss them into the receptacle. Locate a yarn end on the garment and begin to unravel the fabric, saying something like:

“The magick cast now falls away

As I unravel it today,

(Name of target)’s life is now returned

As magick in the cauldron’s burned.

By all the power of Moon and Sun

I remove all harm; so be it done.

Continue to repeat the chant as you unravel the sweater, stopping occasionally to snip off the loosened yarn and set it aflame in the cauldron. Continue the process until the sweater is completely unraveled, burned and reduced to ash. Either discard the ashes in running water or scatter them on the winds.

Life As The Witch – Water Magick for Autumn

Water Magick for Autumn

The Wheel of the Year begins to make its final turn and now we enter the twilight of the year. The spirit world is closer to us nnow. Autumn water magick, includes working with spiritual energies, contacting ancestors, scrying and harvest blessings.

Since ancient times, it has been believed that spirits of the deceased make their journey to the Otherside by water. So it would be appreciate to use water to contact a deceased loved one. Begin by writing a latter to your loved one, using white paper and black ink. Either in the early morning or at dusk go to a quiet body of water such as a pond–if it’s a foggy or misty that’s even better. Kneel at the water’s edge, fold your letter, and let it float away. If there are any fallen leaves upon the water, you may place your letter on them instead. Your message has been received.

Scrying at this time of year by using water can be very effective. Fill your cauldron or a dark colored bowl with water, drop a silver coin into the water, and gaze at the ripples. Allow your eyes to focus on the coin and begin to gaze at the water. If you wish, perform this ritual after dark outside during a Full Moon. Using the water and the Moon together will aid your psychic powers.

Since colonial times, as the harvest season cam to a close, water ws used to anoint the last stand of grain to ensure a bountiful crop the following year. You can do this in your own garden. Simply leave one plant stand in your garden. This could be one herb, tomato plant or a flower. Before a killing frost, sprinkle this plant with water you’ve blessed. Don’t removed this plant until next Spring.

Living Life As The Witch – HOODOO? You Do!

Witchy Comments

HOODOO? You Do!

A good number of hexes and curses and spells of that sort come from a popular magickal system called Hoodoo. This is in no way, shape, or form a religious system–it’s magick, plain and simple–and its origin is attributed to derivation of the magickal practices of the Afro-Caribbean people who were once enslaved in the United States.

One of the reason for the popularity of this system is that nothing is hard and fast. Ingredients are easy to find, and substitutions can be made with ease. That’s because, unlike most other magickal systems, precisely how hoodoo is practiced varies greatly according to specific agricultural region and available resources. This means that although there may be a few common threads, you’re not likely to find the same sort of practices in Louisiana as you would in South Carolina. In Georgia as you would in Texas, and so on. And this probably has to do with the fact that the enslaved were literally scattered all across the country and simply used what was handy to work their magick. As a result, hoodoo truly is folk magick at its best.

Before we get too far, though, there’s something that I’d like to make clear. Hoodoo magick is not necessarily dark. It’s just more honest than most other types of practice, and so are the folks who practice it. If they’re going to throw down with a hex, they don’t bother to disguise it with some other sort of magick. They just do it, make no bones about it and go on about their business.

With that out of the way, magickal efforts within the system aren’t called spells. They’re called tricks, a classification that’s steeped in honesty too. A spell, after all, is manipulation of the Elements to get what you want. And stripped right down to the bare bones, which exactly is manipulation? Simply put, it’s tricking someone–or something–into doing your bidding.

The other difference between hoodoo and other systems is that magickal efforts aren’t charged. But lest you get the wrong idea, that doesn’t mean that tons of energy isn’t placed within their folds. Nothing could be further from the truth. Because tricks usually take the form of packets or parcels–their contents are usually wrapped up in something or contained in a bag–they are “laid.” This means that once completed, the parcels are placed somewhere out of view. And whether laid in the ground, under a porch or in the water, that’s what completes their magick.

As an aside, it’s interesting to note that tricks are seldom as easily broken as spells. It’s not the magick involved is any stronger. It’s that breaking a trick involves locating the parcel, dismantling it and destroying the contents. This presents a whole new set of problems: Finding the hiding place and finding the trick, both of which can be a real effort in futility. But even if you manage to find both, that still may not be enough to uncross the victim. Depending upon method of disposal and mediums used for contents and wrapping, a goood portion of the trick may have rotted away or dissolved. The tiny fragment you’ve got left many not be able to handle the job–at least, not with any measure of success. And this is probably how hoodoo got its current reputation:  That of absolute power and darkness.

Lessons In Magickal Herbal Use (Intro)

Lessons In Magickal Herbal Use

by Leillan

This article was a text file in the library of a local Pagan BBS years ago.

Introduction

The purpose of these texts are to introduce you to the Magick of herbs. There is so much these plants and flowers can offer. Working with herbs can be as simple or as ritualistic as you want to make it. For example:  as simplistic as selecting a few herbs for a bath sachet and putting them into cheese cloth, a tea ball, or even a coffee filter for use, or as ritualistic as working with certain herbs in Circle for a specific spell or talisman, enchanting each herb and then the entire mixture. Remember, however, that when working with things from the Mother Earth, sometimes “less” is best.

There are no set rules here, save 2:

  • Rule No. 1:  Remember the Law of Three
  • Rule No. 2:  First learn rule Number 1.

I said there were no set rules and there aren’t. But there are some simple hints, as well as etiquette, that you should be aware of before you start with the Magickal Herb lessons. Among these are:

  1. Magick is natural.
  2. Harm no one – not even yourself.
  3. Magick takes work. You get what you put into it.
  4. Magick should not be done for pay.
  5. Don’t haggle over the price of your tools. If you can’t afford them now, then wait until you can afford the price. Haggling lessens the worth of the tools in your work.
  6. Keep your ego in check. Remember, you are only a tool, as well.
  7. Magick is learning. Know not only how, but also why.
  8. Magick should be used for defense only. (The Law of 3 very much applies here.)
  9. Magick is Love!  Do what you do because you love it in your heart.
  10. When you use Magick in anger or hate, you cross the fine line from white to black, and therein lies danger.

Living The Life of The Witch – Decision, Decision, Decision!

Witchy Comments=

TO CURSE OR NOT TO CURSE: THAT IS THE QUESTION

Over the course of your magickal practice, this is a question that’s eventually going to pop up. So, maybe some exploration is in order:  Just exactly what warrants a curse and what doesn’t?

The fact that Joe got the job you wanted probably doesn’t warrant anything other than crossing off that place of employment and sending out resumes to the next ten on your list. And if you want to work a little magick to get one of those positions, so be it.

But what if the situation isn’t that simple? What if the job in question was an inner company promotion, and you happen to know that Joe willfully sabotaged you? Maybe he took credit for some of your work–work that may have either qualified you for the position or caused the department head to take special notice of your application. Perhaps he even lied about you, saying that you were difficult to work with, that you weren’t a team player, or that you had an attitude problem. Is that any reason to curse him?

Maybe. Maybe not. It just depends on the circumstances. And to come to a rational decision, you’re going to have to look at the whole picture.

First, review the job description again, and really scrutinize the duties involved. If they’re vague, Joe may have done you a favor, even if unwittingly. It might be that the job in question would take up more time than you’re willing to give: time that would be best enjoyed somewhere else or even spent with your family. It could also be that the extra money involved is not worth what it’s going to take to earn it. And if either is likely, then curses should be the furthest thing from your mind. In fact, you should probably think seriously about sending Joe a congratulatory gift.

But what if neither of those scenarios is true? What if Joe simply set out to ruin your reputation with the company—a company you’ve given your all to—and is now doing his dead level best to get you fired?

While none of that is good by any stretch of the imagination. I’m not sure such action truly deserves a curse either. Why? Because you definitely have other options. You could work magick to protect your job. You could work magick to shed light on Joe’s behavior and show him to all concerned for the jackass that he really is. And if you’re suddenly feeling magnanimous–which is doubtful at this point–you could even go so far as to work magick so that Joe find a position more to his liking outside of the company. Any of those options will take care of the situation nicely–and without the need of a curse.

But now, let’s change the scenario a bit. Let’s say that you’ve been the victim of Joe’s sexual harassment for a very long time and that the promotion was your ticket out of that mess. Let’s say that when he found out you’d decided to apply for the job, he not only lead you to believe that the problems with him would get much worse than you ever dreamed if you went through with it, but he promised to ruin you with the company. That’s not all. He also promised to personally squelch any chance of your getting alternative employment in the area. You’ve already seen how he works, so there’s no doubt he can make good on all of this.

Now do you have good reason for a curse? You bet you do.

Of course, if you’d just turned Joe in to his superiors when he made his first lascivious move–if you’d decided to fight instead of flee back then–he wouldn’t be in any position to bother you. In fact, he probably wouldn’t even still be with the company. You could have avoided this whole mess, you might be sitting pretty in your new corner office, and there would be no reason for any sort of magick at all.

While playing the would’ve should’ve-could be game is normally a complete waste of time, it definitely bears some thought here. For one thing, we need to learn from our mistakes. But perhaps more importantly, this sort of self-examination helps us to figure out what else is necessary to keep us from ever having to curse someone again. And if often takes some mighty deep digging to get to the root of the problem and yank it from our lives forever.

So why didn’t you report Joe’s inappropriate behavior when he first got out of line? Chances are, you were afraid. But since precisely what you were afraid of holds the key here, that’s what we need examine. Was it that you thought reporting him wouldn’t solve the problem and that his superiors wouldn’t take you seriously? Were you afraid that Joe would twist things around in such a way that you’d lose your job? Or were you simply afraid of that sick feeling that makes your stomach churn every time you’re faced with confrontation?

Since such is usually the case when folks won’t stand up for themselves, I’m betting on the latter. And for all practical purposes, let’s say I’m right. What you need now–before you even think of performing that curse– is something to keep you from ever being in that position again. You need some gumption.

Dorothy Morrison has given “The Gimme Gumption Spell” to go along with this article. The spell will following right behind this article.

Why Spells Don’t Always Work

WHY SPELLS DON’T ALWAYS WORK

Spell casting, in and of itself, is not difficult. Generally, it follows an

easy formula with separate and distinct steps. A spell is a procedure to

follow to reach a desired end. It does not require a great deal of money, a

huge compendium of tools, or exotic ingredients to work. It does require

faith in yourself and a connection with deity.

When describing spells to non-magickal people, a witch will often tell them

that a spell is much like a prayer. You are calling upon divinity to assist

you, as in a prayer, but a spell requires more than just pleading to divinity

to help you out of a jam. In a spell YOU are an active ingredient. Your

faith and your knowledge are as important as understanding there is divinity

out there to call upon.

Many of you have already heard of the Witches’ Pyramid, the foundation of our

magickal acts: To Know, To Will, To Dare, and To Be Silent. This pyramid is

the underlying structure of any spell formula.

To Know

Before you can cast a spell, you need to know who you are. Ego aside, you

have to come to terms with who you are, how you operate, and why you do the

things you do.

The second thing you must know is precisely what you want. This is not as

easy as it seems. People rarely sit back and consider what they really want

out of life. Part of this is because they are afraid. They fear they may not

get what they want, and they fear that they will fail. These fears stop us

from knowing.

For example, time and time again people I know have spelled for love. They

have not done the ultimate no-no by targeting a specific person, but they do

something just as bad–they don’t really know what they ultimately want.

When they get what they spelled for, often they are disappointed, because

there is something attached to that new lover they didn’t think of.

Therefore, all spells must be specific.

One of the best ways to begin a working is to write out, in detail, exactly

what you want in one straight line on a piece of paper. Underneath,

phonetically begin to pare each word down. Underneath that line, pare the

words down again. Continue this procedure until only one letter from each

word is left. Interlock the few remaining letters into a sigil. Use this

sigil in whatever magickal application you have chosen to ensure your spell

remains specific.

To Will

Another stumbling block in spell casting is lack of will, whether it is will

power, belief, or conviction. Will depends on how badly you want to make a

change. Do you believe you are capable of making the change, or do you think

it is only wishful thinking? Are you willing to re-program your mind, your

environment, your relationships, in order to bring about the change you

desire? Without will, a spell will fizzle. Is your mind fogged with doubt,

or unnecessary problems that will prevent bringing about the change you say

you want?

One of the best techniques for increasing your will power is the use of

meditation on a daily basis. Once you have learned to relax, use the alpha

state to program the events you wish to come to pass. You should work on

both short-term and long-term goals.

Another technique that is useful in spell casting is to write down why you

wish to manifest something. Let this explanation sit on your altar

overnight, then re-read it. Does it make sense? Is this what you really

want? Does your reasoning still appear firm, or is it full of holes?

Are you patient? Patience has a lot to do with will. Once you have a firm

grip on “will,” you are a third of the way through on accurate spell casting.

To Dare

To dare means you are not inclined to sit around on your laurels. It means

that you are not choosing to procrastinate, rather you are choosing to move

with purpose. To dare indicates that you are no longer afraid of the

outcome, or fear failure. You are confident that you control your own

destiny to the point where you won’t even argue about it, either with someone

else, or yourself.

Although “to dare” doesn’t appear to create a lot of work, it does require

you to make an active decision. This is the next catalyst for your magickal

operation. From here, you will plan the appropriate day, hour, moon phase,

astrological energies, and tools required for working magick, including what

divinity you will choose. To dare can lead to a great deal of work and

preparation.

To Be Silent

Even if you are an adept, you should learn to be quiet about your magickal

operations. There is only one exception, which is when you are working with

a group. If the group mind is actively participating on a project they

should be informed of their success or failure.

In the beginning, you should be silent so that you are not affected by

others’ opinions. Don’t tell them what you are performing magick for, as you

risk failure. Why? Because they can unconsciously affect you with their

disbelief or negativity.

Likewise, once you become proficient at spell casting, don’t announce

it–especially to a novice. No real adept will ever tell a novice that “My

spells always work.” Not only is it rude, it is also untrue. Everyone

fails. Imagine what a novice would think if they knew you lost your job, your

kids are running rampant, and you are deeply in debt. If your spells always

worked, you would not be in such a fix, would you? Foolish words can ruin

your reputation, which in turn, will ruin your own self-confidence.

Therefore, keep your trap shut–this ensures success in your magickal

operations as well as keeping your reputation intact. No one likes a

braggart, and no one considers an egotistical Witch a good leader or cleric.

When Spell’s Fail

Try this chant

Oh God/dess (whoever you worship) I am not worthy of

your perfect grace, nor the magick i find within myself

and within you. I ask now in Just, for i have grown weak

that thou would accompany me in rituals and spells.

Be By my side in this time of need. I do not deserve you

Oh God/dess. but still i ask, for i am only but a mortal

Oh God/dess, Bless me!

Oh God/dess, accompany me!

Oh God/dess, Shine light upon me!

Oh God/dess, grant me wisdom!

Oh God/dess, Grant me Humility!

Oh God/dess, Stay with me!

Oh God/dess, Protect me from evil!

Oh God/dess, I love thee above all things!

Please Oh ancient ones, hear me!

Amen

Basic Spell Construction

BASIC SPELL CONSTRUCTION

Write your own spells

Because of the very nature of Magick, each working should be highly

individualised and personal. Even if following a traditional spell,

it should be tailored to your specific needs to be most effective

for you. Understanding the basics of Spell Construction will enable

you to formulate your own specific, effective spells for any purpose

you desire.

Preliminary planning is necessary. The very first step is to decide

precisely what your desired end result is to be. Before you can

start, you must decide where you are going. You must be very

explicit.

Flowing with these currents will make your magickal work much easier.

Remember to plan your project for a time of uninterrupted privacy.

It is important that you have no distractions. Generally speaking,

it is best to work as late at night as possible. A time when there

is less frantic energy is most appropriate. You might consider

Midnight or later.

In choosing a place to do your magickal working pay particular

attention to your needs, for you must be comfortable. Your place

should be private, quiet and secure. If at all possible, set aside

a special place for this purpose only. An unused room, a special

Scorner of your bedroom, a quiet, secluded spot in your garden. A

place that is yours. A place that you can come to whenever need

arises and that is as free from intrusion of others as possible.

Prior to the night of your magickal working, gather together the

things that you will need. All of the things used are tools. They

have no inherent magick. They are to help you create a mood. If

correctly made and used, they will trigger primitive responses from

deep within you. They should be chosen with care.

Consider the purpose of your ritual and choose your tools

accordingly. If your magick is to be sexual, your candles, oils,

incenses and so forth, should bring forth a sexual response. If the

desired result of your Magick is Tranquillity, then the tools should

make you feel calm, peaceful and serene. Any candles you might use

should not have commercially added fragrances as these may not be

appropriate for your working.

Prior to your ritual, prepare yourself and your equipment by any

means necessary to clean and purify. Historically, people have

fasted, followed meticulous and detailed bathing practices,

practised chastity and used many other methods.

Most often a Ritual Bath is the preferred method. A bath frequently

utilising candlelight, fragrant herbs, bath salts or sensuous oils.

A sumptuous hot bath, special bathing preparations and appropriate

lighting, combined, can create the soothing effect which will help

in the very important step of relaxing and clearing the mind completely

of all mundane thoughts and experiences of the day. Your ritual

Bath should, also, begin to set the specific vibrations conducive to

your purpose into motion. You must not only cleanse and purify but

must, also, begin to create the type of energy necessary.

Once your purification process has been accomplished, you are now

ready to begin. Proceed to the special place you have previously

chosen in which to perform your magick. If at all possible, you

should make use of the primitive responses set into motion by a well

chosen piece of music. Your music should start slowly and build to

a rousing climax.

As you use your oils, light your candle or incense (or utilise any

other tool you have chosen), you should begin to further intensify

the energy that you have set into motion around you. A high degree

of intensity is vitally important.

The Altered State of Consciousness that you must reach is not a

meditative state. Anything that interferes with your ability to

concentrate upon, reach and control the high energy state necessary

to perform magick should be avoided. Such as, screaming children, a

sink full of dirty dishes, use of alcohol or drugs, etc.

Do not scatter your energy by attempting to do more than one

magickal working at a time.

Remember that Magick is the manipulation of energy, a thought is a

form of energy and a visualisation is an even stronger form of

energy. Your visualisation can be a method used to intensify

further and direct your will. Your visualisation can be the method

by which you control the magickal energy you have produced.

You must know what you want. You must see it. You must feel the

high energy flow. You must direct it.

One of the most important elements in the practice of any form of

Magick is the Universal Law of Cause and Effect. This means that

whatever you do (or don’t do) you cause something to happen.

The most important consideration is the Universal Law of

Retribution. This means that no matter what you do it comes back to

you in like kind.

It is the nature of things that as you send something out it gains

momentum, so that, by the time it comes back to you, it is three

times stronger. If you do something nice for someone, someone will

do something nicer for you.

It is important, also, that you choose your time carefully. You

should take into consideration all Astrological implications, energy

currents and Moon phases.

The Moon is the astronomical body closest to us and, therefore, has

a profound influence upon us, it is very important to choose a time

when the Moon is in an astrological sign which is appropriate for

your working. For example: Aries/Action – Enthusiasm, Taurus/

Renewal – Sensuality, Gemini/Communication – Curiosity, Cancer/

Emotion – Nurturing, Leo/Vitality – Determined, Virgo/Organizing –

Studious, Libra/Balance – Co-operation, Scorpio/Sexual –

Philosophical, Capricorn/Authority – Ambitious, Aquarius/Innovation

– Social, Pisces/Sensitivity – Idealistic.

Bear in mind that magickal workings for gain, increase or bringing

things to you, should be initiated when the Moon is Waxing (from

Dark to Full); when the Moon is Waning (from Full to Dark), it is

time for magickal workings of decrease or sending away.

The highest energy occurs at the Full Moon and, therefore, this is

the most powerful time for magickal workings. The New Moon is the

next most powerful time for Magick.

Whenever possible, follow Nature’s natural Energy Currents. There

is a natural time for starting things (a planting time), for

maturing things (a growing time), for reaping things ( a harvest

time) and, of course, a time for rest and planning.

Book Binding Ritual

Book Binding Ritual

Items You will Need:

The Book

Plain white cotton string

The Spell:

Those of us who study the Old Ways of Natural Magick are usually fond of books. Our fondness often leads us to loan them to friends. Unfortunately, loaning a book may mean that we’ll never see it again. Hence, this book binding ritual. It utilizes knot magick. Binding and knots are ruled by the element Earth. In Natural Magick, knots are physical objects that both represent intangible goals (such as the return of loaned property) and absorb personal power. The following spell utilizes the power of the knot in this way. This ritual is not intended to force or to coerce another human being to return a book; it’s a spell to ensure the book’s return. It doesn’t affect the loanee; it affects the book itself. Before you loan the book, hold it between your palms. Send personal power into it while saying:

“By hill and wind, by flame and brook,

By shining moon and sea;

I place a bind Upon this Book

That it return to me.”

Wrap one foot of plain white cotton string around the book, securing the string with a knot. Knot tightly, but leave enough slack so that you can slip off the string with out untying the knot. As you make the knot, visualize the book returning to you and say once again:

“By hill and wind, by flame and brook,

By shining moon and sea;

I place a bind Upon this Book

That it return to me.”

Slip off the knotted cord. Put it in some secret place. As you actually loan the book, say the words even again (under your breath). The book should, indeed, return to you. Once it has, untie or cut the cord. It’s done its work.

Living The Life Of The Witch – Do You Have What It Takes?

Do You Have What It Takes?

Curses are not for the namby-pamby. Nor are they for fluffy bunnies or for those who insist that even the worst of horrors happen for a reason. They are for gutsy folks with the courage to do something about their situations when all other possibilities have been exhausted.

But just the same, curses aren’t to be taken lightly or flung about without due cause and serious thought. They’re not your normal type of magick and certainly not anything that should be performed as readily as a protection spell or a money spell.  In fact, there’s good reason that they’re usually at the top of the magickal practitioner’s ten-foot-pole list. And contrary to popular belief, taking responsibility for your actions is the least of your worries.

To start with, cursing someone takes an inordinate amount of energy. Your energy. Energy that you’ve stored for other things, like the simple business of everyday living. And cursing someone effectively is going to wipe out all your reserves. But even if that weren’t the case, it’s important to remember that you’re going to be transferring that energy to the person on the other end of your magick. So there’s a good chance that you’re inadvertently going to pick up some of that person’s energy along the way too. Do you really want that nasty stuff on you? Probably not.

Another thing is that the only substance that will fuel a curse properly is anger. Trying to fuel it with love or adding a “for the good of all concerned” codicil simply isn’t going to cut it. In order to even get the spell off the ground, you’re going to have to be so mad that you can’t see straight. So mad that even strangling the person in question with your bare hands wouldn’t be enough to suit you. Yes, you’re going to have to absolutely, uncontrollably, beyond the shadow of a doubt, livid pissed—more infuriated and enraged than you’ve ever been in your entire life and are ever likely to be again. And you need to know whether you’ve got what it take to work yourself up into that sort of irrepressible hissy fit.. What’s more, though, do you even want to?

Further, you’re also going to have to believe that you are unquestionably correct in the need to curse someone. Rationalization to suit your own purposes isn’t going to get it. You have to be right. You have to be sure. There isn’t any room for error or an after-the-fact “Oops…I was mistaken” when it comes to curses. The effects can be finite. What’s more, you can’t even begin to second guess yourself. Do you have that sort of resolve?

If none of this bothers you, and you’re absolutely certain of your position, then a curse is probably the way to go. And if not? Well, it’s best left alone.

Living As The Witch – Thoughtforms & Spirits

Living As The Witch

Thoughtforms & Spirits

Although there are hundreds of kinds of divination, the principle ones are astrology, geomancy, the tarot, the I Ching, and direct psychic means (especially clairvoyance).

True divination is more than a mechanical system, for it implies true psychic interpretation (receiving). Some form of divination is often used in magick ritual to communicate with the entity invoked.

Since divination operates through the mind, it is affected and biased by the mind. Our attitudes and fears may alter it. Sometimes results are very detailed, and accurate– but not always. Often the future is plastic and changeable anyway, and the use of magick may alter the result. Thus divination shows tendencies only, which may be helpful, but must not rule us.

All You Need to Put Yourself Tune with Magickal Energy

All You Need to Put Yourself Tune with Magickal Energy

You really don’t need much to put yourself in touch with magickal energy. Remember magick is in you. Magickal energy is something that we all possess. Then how come you haven’t been per forming magick since you could walk? Well, there are some prerequisites. First off, you must try to solve your problem using mundane means. In other words, if you want to get your security de posit back from your former landlord, and he isn’t coughing it up, you need to write him a letter. Send it registered. Tell him you will take him to court. After you have exhausted all the non magickal means at your disposal, only then should you do magick.

Magickal Purpose

Before you perform an act of magick, you must be 100 percent clear on why you are doing it. What do you hope to achieve? Why are you using magick in this case? Have you really tried to attain what you want through nonmagickal means? Are you sure that your actions are for the good of all and not just for your own self-interest. Are you sure that your magickal action will not harm anyone? If you come up with clear and positive answers then you can proceed.

Book of Shadows

A pentagram is a five-pointed star. It is made of five straight lines and contains a pentagon inside it. When surrounded by a circle or a pentagon, a pentagram becomes a pentacle. A pentacle is a symbol of the Wiccan faith.

Magickal Concentration

In order to use your magickal energy, you must be able to concentrate. You have to focus intently and visualize the magick-actually see what you want to have happen ing happen in your mind. When performing an act of magick, you will build up a huge amount of energy with your powers of concentration. Then, when the energy is really intense, you send that energy out to work for you. Don’t worry. You can do this. And we’ll be telling you more about it, and giving more detailed directions, later.

A Good Finger

Once you have built up your magickal energy, direct the energy toward the place you want it to go. In ritual, Wiccans usually use an athame, a special ritual knife. If you don’t have an athame, you can use your finger. Remember, the magick is in you, not in the tools that you use. Using an athame is helpful, though. The ritual objects help you focus your mind. The tools give the conscious mind something to settle on so that the sub conscious can work. The symbolism of the athame speaks to your subconscious, as well. Because the subconscious works with images and symbols and not words, just seeing the athame can get your subconscious primed.

Your Place in the Universe

As a witch, you need to know your place in the Universe. You are only a minute part of the whole Universe. But you are connected to every other part of the Universe. Everything affects you, and what you do affects everything. No matter how small an action you take, someone, or something, will feel it. If you sneeze in Cleveland, some one in South America will feel it. Each and every thing that you do has an effect, no matter how small.

If you do magick, it can truly change things. None of us can fully comprehend how much change we can create. As a witch, you need to respect this. Remember the image of the stone thrown into a pool of water? Think of the ripples moving away from the center as your energy moving away from you. As the ripples of energy spread out, they affect and change everything they touch. You can change things. You can have major impact on people and their lives. With this power, comes responsibility-to other people, to animals, to the Earth, and to yourself.

The Least You Need to Know

Witches have ethics. If you are going to be a witch, you must understand the witches’ moral code, the Wiccan Rede, and you must try to live by it.

Living by the Wiccan Rede includes taking care of you. Take good care of your body; it is truly your temple.

Magickal energy lives inside of you. In order to use that energy, you have to learn to concentrate. You also must be totally clear on the reasons why you are using magick. And they better be good reasons!

All of your actions have effects. Especially magickal ones! You might not see the effects immediately or you might not see them at all, but know that everything that you do causes a reaction somewhere in the universe. For this reason, we all must use our powers wisely.

Banish!

Didn’t your mother always tell you it was rude to point? Well, especially so if you are a witch! But seriously, if a person knows that you are a witch, and you point your finger at that person and say something in rhyme, you could really do some damage. Even if you are just kidding, you could hurt that person psychologically. So, don’t joke around about your powers. You also want to avoid intimidating others. Even if you are mad. Even if the person deserves it. Remember the Wiccan Rede, and don’t pointl

Good Monday Afternoon, dear ones!

I hope you are having a terrific day. Mine, HA! The contractors that are putting in the fiber optic lines are BACK! And that means my cable, phone, lights and everything has been down for three hours. I have to go to the doctor later on this afternoon for my blood pressure. So I am going calm down, breath, calm down, breath! Hell it will be 200/180 the rate I am going. But I am trying to relax. I calmed down and answered all of the comments that were waiting for me. Which I found very relaxing, thank you for writing it helped me.

I did run across one comment that hit me like a ton of brick. I feel like the subject needs to be addressed. The comment was in regards to an article that was put on the blog about the Wiccan Rede. The author of the comment was giving the article hell because he/she interrupted it as throwing the Rede out the window and doing what you wanted to. I went and read the article myself. I caught it right off the bat, the article was written by a Witch not a Wiccan. I have said this time and time again but…….A True Witch does not recognize the Rede. The Witch answers to know one but herself. She does as she likes and she suffers the results of her actions. It is in a Witch’s heart to know right from wrong.  Some do, some don’t. Let me rephrase that, they do but they do what they please. A Witch is a free spirit, very free. That article was written by a Witch, I hope that does comfort the reader’s mind.

Now, one more thing while I am chatting. I would like to talk about White Magick and Black Magick. You know there is no color in magick. I know this and you know this, but some of the people that aren’t witches that visit the blog, don’t. I do hope they read this today. There is no Black or White Magick! Magick exists! We have the ability to use it and we do. It is our intent when we conjure up a spell or ritual that determines the color of magick. Let’s me explain it this way, pretend magick is a balloon out floating in the air. Nothing special, just an average balloon. There are thousands of them, they all look alike. I go and pick one of those average balloons out. Now let’s say my intention with the balloon is something nasty. Like I am going to let the air out of it and pop someone in the head with it. Well that balloon just became dark/black because it is going to do my bidding. And my bidding is not good at all. Now let’s say, I go get another balloon and pick it out. This time all I want to do is hold it and watch it float in the air. I have nothing but good intentions with this balloon. So it is a white/good balloon. Do you see what I am saying? I know it is a funny example, balloons and magick.  But basically the principle is the same. We have all these spells and rituals at our disposal. When we pick one up, we know what we intend to do with it before we ever touch it. That spell is just laying there waiting on us to tell it what to do, to do our bidding. We are the ones that make the spells and rituals, black, gray, or white. It is with our will and intention, that we do this.

Well now that I have all that off my chest, I guess I will put a few things on the blog before I go to the doctor. At least blogging is relaxing for me. I have one of the girl’s wanting to put a blood pressure cuff on my arm while I am typing. I am going to get the broom and sweep her out the door if she don’t quit, lol! But I am going to run for now and get something done, who knows what, but something.

I hope you have a great day. Wish me luck at the doctor’s office.

Luv & Hugs,

Lady A

Living The Life Of The Witch – DEVELOPING CLAIRVOYANCE

DEVELOPING CLAIRVOYANCE

It is possible to improve your natural ability with

clairvoyance through practice. A good start might be to look

around you, then close your eyes and try to picture your

surroundings. This is also good exercise for visualization. And

visualization is an essential talent in magick. Open your eyes

again and check your accuracy. Then close your eyes and try it

again. When you use your physical eyes, look at everything

like a child seeing it for the first time. Let the vividness

of color and form burn into you, until everything takes on a

veritable glow. Try to capture that glow when you close your

eyes now and picture your surroundings. It’s just a simple

step to extend what you see with your eyes closed into what

you remember seeing in the next room, or what you *imagine*

seeing in the next building, the next city, even the other

side of the world. Don’t expect perfect results, especially at

first. Just try to be even partly right. Another exercise is

to picture a clock face, and thereby tell the time

clairvoyantly.

Elemental Energies in Magick – Earth

Elemental Energies in Magick – Earth

Symbolizes and controls the forces of solidity and manifestation though healing, strength, and regeneration. Through the power of Earth, things    manifest in reality and become stable or “real” as some people like to call it. Attain financial rewards from this elements as well as any kind    of physical security. Earth can be represented by either green (plants and healing) or brown (fertile soil that all seeds need to grow strong). Either    color is appropriate or another if you find some connection between what you perceive the element of Earth to be and some other color. Nature Magick is    especially successful when performed under the supervision and assistance of Earth Elementals or Gnomes ruled by the spirit of the North Wind,     Gabriel.

Elemental Energies in Magick – Air

Elemental Energies in Magick – Air

Symbolizes and controls the forces of conscious mental processes, communication, ideas and all other non-physical forces that seem to have no    substance. Air does have substance, of course, it just operates in a way that is unlike the physical substances that we are so used to. Air can be    a very powerful force as the crushing winds of a hurricane or an idea that can change the entire world. The element of Air can be represented through the    color yellow or whatever other color suits you mental picture of this type of energy. Mental Magick is especially successful when performed under the    supervision and assistance of Air Elementals or Sylphs ruled by the spirit of the East Wind, Michael.

Elemental Energies in Magick – Fire

Elemental Energies in Magick – Fire

Symbolizes and controls the forces of fast kinetic energy (as opposed to the slow dormant energy of Earth) that activates quickly and with    little control over itself. Fire Elementals are best invoked to create fast or intense change that requires great (though not necessarily long lasting)    energy. For example, Fire is the best element to invoke for protection, purification and defense. These actions usually need high energy to be set in    motion, but once they are present they do not require additional energy to maintain themselves. Many colors can represent the element of Fire, but the    colors red, orange and yellow are the most common. Use what feels the most right for you. Spirit Magick though spirit calling, invocation, necromancy and    sorcery is especially successful when performed under the supervision and assistance of Fire Elementals or Salamanders ruled by the spirit of the South    Wind, Ariel.

Elemental Energies in Magick – Water

Elemental Energies in Magick – Water

Symbolizes and controls the forces of cleansing, healing, slow consistent change (as opposed to Fire’s fast change) and inner mental    processes such as the unconscious mind processes (as opposed to Air’s conscious mind processes). The element of Water is often represented by the color    blue, but again this is only a suggestion. Use whatever color suits your impression of this energy. Divination, Dream and Healing Magick are all especially    successful when performed under the supervision and assistance of Water Elementals or Undines ruled by the spirit of the West Wind,     Raphael.

ELEMENTALS

ELEMENTALS

The magical elements are said to be peopled by spirits

and mythological entities called elementals or nature spirits.

These are grouped into four main categories —

Gnome (earth) Undine (water) Salamander (fire) Sylph (air)

============= ============== ================= ===========

dwarfs nymphs jin (genies) fairies

elves tritons storm angels

brownies mermaids

hobgoblins mermen

lepricauns sirens

harpies

Elementals are usually only visible to those with

clairvoyant sight and are more likely to be seen at night in

the mountains or country away from cities — especially if you

are tired or sleepy. Although elementals exist naturally, it is

also possible to create one which will exist for a limited time

— no elemental has immortality. A created elemental is called

an ‘artificial elemental’.

To the Ancients, elementals were the physical

explanation of the universe. However, some contemporary

occultists see them only as symbols for forces and otherwise

not ‘real’ at all. Another word sometimes used for elemental is

‘familiar’ (usually in medieval witchcraft); the term is

ambiguous, as it might merely be an ordinary household pet such

as a dog or cat.
