Daily Motivator for October 1 – Discontent

Discontent

If you blame your discontent on others, that will just make it grow bigger  and more burdensome. Choose instead to embrace and to own that discontent fully,  and you can make it go away.

There can be all sorts of reasons why you’re unhappy with life. Yet it is not  those reasons that matter, but rather what you’re willing to think, to feel and  to do.

When you accept that your discontent is yours and yours alone, you can  quickly get beyond it. And though you may not be able to immediately change the  outer conditions, you can instantly change your inner perspective.

What can weigh you down is not what has happened, but how you have chosen to  respond. Choose to let go of the discontent, and free yourself to grab hold of  the most positive possibilities.

Whether the situation is your fault or not, doesn’t really matter now. Your  best strategy is to be sincerely thankful for where you are, and to move quickly  in the direction of where you wish to be.

Life can be tough on you, but you don’t have to be so tough on yourself. Let  go of your discontent, and let yourself soar to new, fulfilling heights.

Quiz of the Day for Oct. 1 – Do You Get Enough Sleep?

Do You Get Enough Sleep?

by Annie B. Bond

Sleep is the physiological function that helps nourish our mind, body, and  soul, essential for good health and upbeat spirits. Better sleep gives you more  energy, improves your mood, makes you less prone to accidents and less  irritable, and increases your life span.

The National Commission on Sleep Disorders says, “America is seriously sleep  deprived, with serious consequences.“ Lack of sleep decreases productivity,  effectiveness, concentration, decision-making abilities, and physiological  immunity. Are you getting enough sleep for optimum mind, body, and spirit  wellness? Take this simple quiz and find out:

How many of these statements are TRUE for you?

1. I need to rely on an alarm clock to wake me up.

2. I often feel tired and foggy-headed.

3. I often doze off while watching TV or while sitting and reading.

4. I sometimes fall asleep in public places such as movie theaters or school  classes.

5. I sometimes get drowsy in a car–either as a driver or as a passenger.

6. Fatigue sometimes interferes with my daily activities.

If you answered TRUE to any of these questions, you could use more and  better-quality sleep.

Cleansing Cursed Objects

Cleansing Cursed Objects

To rid negativity from objects that are cursed or seem unlucky, perform the following spell when the moon is at its fullest:

Go to a river or stream that runs north to south, place the object in the water and say:

“Trapped inside is a curse, now removed you’ll be with this verse,”

Running water, spirits good. Remove this curse. So Mote It Be.”

Remove the object, cast a silver coin and a handful of Thyme into it’s waters and leave.

*Do not cleanse anything containing Iron.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – September 30

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – September 30

“Don’t be afraid to cry. It will free your mind of sorrowful thoughts.”

–Don Talayesva, HOPI

Human beings function from choice. We can choose to stuff things, or we can choose to let go of things. If we choose to stuff things, then we will feel a heaviness, or sorrow, self pity or fear. Sometimes we feel the need to cry. Sometimes we are taught it is not okay to cry. The creator designed the human being to cry. Crying is a release. This release allows us to let go of thoughts that are not helping us so we can open to new thoughts that will help. Crying is natural for women and men.

Grandfather, if I need to cry, let me realize it’s a natural process and help me to let go.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – September 29

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – September 29

“So I prayed, but I had to pray from my heart. All of my concentration and thoughts went from my head to my heart. All of my senses – hearing, smell, taste, and feeling – were connected to my heart.”

–Wallace Black Elk, LAKOTA

The heart is the gateway to the Unseen World, to the Spirit World. It takes real concentration to do this. To connect to our own heart is also a mental state. It starts in the head and transitions to the heart. This mental state is our inner stillness. Be still and know. This place of the heart is very joyous and peaceful. It is this place that we become one with God, our Creator.

Great Spirit, teach me to be a heart warrior.

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Sept. 30 – ‘National Mud Pack Day’

If you have a dirty mind, you’ll be right in the flow on this ‘National Mud Pack Day.’ For centuries people have discovered the magical benefits of using mud for a beautiful complexion. Mud cleanses and purifies the skin, and its mineral rich properties help rejuvenate and restore. And it’s all-natural and chemical-free! For dry skin, ‘Fuller’s Earth’ or Multani mitti is recommended. You will need three tablespoons of that as well as two tablespoons of plain yogurt, a half-teaspoon of almond oil and three drops of rose water. Put the yogurt in a bowl and add the earth gradually, stirring gently with a wooden spoon. Pour the almond oil and rose water into this mix and continue stirring until the ingredients form a loose paste. Apply this mudpack for twenty minutes before washing it off. For oily skin put three tablespoons of Fuller’s Earth in a bowl with few drops of fresh lime juice and three drops of rose water. Mix until a loose paste forms and wear for thirty minutes. Wash it off your face and then watch the wear and tear of your life go down the drain, exactly where it belongs.
