THE CAULDRON AND THE KNIFE
Just before going to bed, fill a cauldron (or iron bucket, bowl or pot) with water and place it inside
your house near the front door. Take a very sharp knife or Athame and place it point-down
into the water, saying:
“Into the water I place this blade,
To guard against the thief and shade.
May no flesh nor astral shell
Enter this place wherein I dwell”
This is a good protection spell, and can be performed every evening. In the morning, remove
and dry the knife, and place it somewhere safe. Then, without touching it, pour the water
outside, (or down the drain if necessary) and put the cauldron away. It probably wouldn’t be
a good idea to do this spell if you’re expecting company, as it could be dangerous (and wet).
You can do this at each door if desired, and protects against more than corporeal forms.

Today’s I Ching Hexagram for November 12th is 63: After Completion
63: After Completion

General Meaning: It is a fine irony that after completion of some project or great enterprise, there is still much left to do. Completion is merely a pause in the cycle of creation and decay, a momentary still point for the swinging pendulum of life. Though completion does imply a period of restful pause — one that usually has been well earned — it is not an actual end, but rather a uniquely harmonious flat spot in the constancy of change and movement.
The image of After Completion is that of a kettle of water boiling over a fire. When the forces are balanced, the water boils properly; but if the pot is too full, it may boil over and put out the fire; or, if the fire is too hot, it may evaporate all the water. In the equilibrium that follows the completion of something significant, the current dynamics must be watched carefully to assure that a proper balance is maintained.
After Completion is the time for fine-tuning, for refinements and embellishments of what has already been accomplished.
Even if we are enjoying a rewarding situation right now, the laws of the natural world dictate that influence and success will eventually decline. So, don’t let current good fortunes prompt careless or relaxed attitudes. A successful endeavor or partnership needs to be carefully tended and maintained. What is incomplete should be finished, and brought to fruition without delay.
Take satisfaction upon completion, but do not dwell on it. To do so could bring a halt to your influence and capability.
Prosperity Floor Wash
You will need:
- A bucket or similar container
- A handful of fresh or one teaspoon dried basil leaves
- The peels of one orange
- Peppermint essential oil
- A mop
- A pot or cauldron
- A mister (if you have carpet)
Put the basil and orange peel in the pot, fill it with water, and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce the heat, and allow the brew to simmer for 5 minutes. Put water in the bucket and add the brew. Put 7 drops of peppermint oil in the water and stir. Hold your hand over the water, close your eyes, and visualize a very bright green light with sparkly gold dust floating around in it coming down from the sky as in a beam of light, entering your head, going into your heart, and moving out through our fingers and the palms of your hands to generously fill the mixture. In your mind’s eye, see this light powerfully swirling around in the bucket. If you have caret, put some of the mixture in the mister. Mop all the hard floors with the mixture. If your doorstep or front porch is made of mop-friendly material, you might want to mop the area too. Then lightly mist the carpets with the mixture as well. You can also mist your doorstep with the mixture if you can’t mop it.
Daily Motivator for October 20th – Choose to do
Choose to do
In this moment, choose to do. On this day, choose to make real and meaningful progress.
It will take some time, effort and persistence. And in return, you’ll earn yourself some lasting value.
It will challenge you, and frustrate you at times, and make you a little uncomfortable. Yet it will also bring you the satisfaction of a job well done.
You may not always get it perfect, but always you can give it your best. Choosing to work your way forward is not the easiest choice, yet it will ultimately prove to be the most valuable one.
If you’re tempted to let the excuses of the moment hold you back, project your thoughts into the future. Imagine how silly those excuses will seem five years from now, and how thankful you’ll be that you ignored them.
The opportunity of today is worthless unless you act on it. Act on it, choose to do, and you’ll soon be enjoying the many rewards of your efforts.

Light Pollution and Moonlight Glint off of Langer See in Berlin, Germany
October 16, 2011
Photographers: Christopher Kyba and Thomas Ruhtz; Christopher’s Web site
Summary Author: Christopher Kyba
The above photo was taken while making light pollution measurements over Berlin, Germany as part of the Verlust der Nacht project. It nicely illustrates the differences between natural (moonlight) and artificial night lighting. It’s obvious that artificial street lights have different color spectra from that of moonlight; some street lamps emit discrete spectral lines rather than a continuous spectrum as produced by the Sun or Moon. Note the glint of moonlight off of Langer See, a part of Berlin’s Spree River system. The high reflectivity of water at large incident angles makes it very easy to distinguish the lake from the shoreline. Photo taken on July 14, 2011 — the Moon was one day shy of being fully illuminated.

About the Number 6
Can You Believe It Is Thursday Already?

Happy Thursday to all my dear friends! My hand is doing much better, so I figured I would whine at you a bit. I was totally amazed I haven’t written anything in about a week and I got a comment about me whining. Whining? What the hell am I whining about? I am nursing a sick hand. Good grief! Come to find out, it was from the same person that always writes to me about my whining. So I figure big deal, this person must really be a miserable person. I could go into preacher mode here but I won’t, lol!
I don’t know if you noticed or not but I am working on a new Goddess page, The Goddess Hecate. It was strange, I was working on the page and Kiki started raising heck. In case you are new to the blog, Kiki is my little Pomeranian familiar. Anyway, this was her bark that something was in the yard bark. So I got up to look and in the yard was a timber wolf. I liked to fell out in the floor. I went running through the house to the porch outside. I just had to see him. He came within about 100 feet from the porch. He was solid black and looked very mean and angry. Since it is unusual to see wolves during the day out in the open, I knew something had to be wrong. I first thought of him having rabies and what a brain I was for running out the door. But I took his appearance as a sign from Hecate. I wasn’t afraid of him at all. But then again, I haven’t run into a wild animal I am afraid of. I use caution around them and eventually I can become friends with them. Well when the wolf turned his side to me, I could see what the problem was. He was hurt on his side. My husband who run out behind me to see what the matter was immediately said, “Don’t you dare?” But as soon as my husband spoke, the wolf wandered off. I don’t know if the wolf comes back, I might try to help him. But the timber wolf is the meanest wolf there is. I don’t know just working on the page about Hecate and the wolf showing up, I sort of took it as a sign from Her. Perhaps She was happy I was finally doing a page on Her. Perhaps I am totally wrong and it was just a coincidence that the wolf showed up the same time I was doing Her page. But I thought it was unusual anyway. I have had other strange occurrences. I will tell you about them some other time. My hand is starting to act goofy, I can tell I have typed enough. I just had to share about the wolf showing up. I had a wolf-hybrid and I had to have her put to sleep after 15 years of companionship and love. So I love wolves.
Well I am going to go for now and get busy doing the Dailys. I would hate to think you fired me for not doing my job, lol. I hope you have a great Thursday.
Luv & Hugs,
Lady A

Focus on the Good
Raise Your Vibration
There are many ways to raise your vibration including thinking positive and uplifting thoughts.
Everything in the universe is made of energy. What differentiates one form of energy from another is the speed at which it vibrates. For example, light vibrates at a very high frequency, and something like a rock vibrates at a lower frequency but a frequency nonetheless. Human beings also vibrate at different frequencies. Our thoughts and feelings can determine the frequency at which we vibrate, and our vibration goes out into the world and attracts to us energy moving at a similar frequency. This is one of the ways that we create our own reality, which is why we can cause a positive shift in our lives by raising our vibration.
We all know someone we think of as vibrant. Vibrant literally means “vibrating very rapidly.” The people who strike us as vibrant are vibrating at a high frequency, and they can inspire us as we work to raise our vibration. On the other hand, we all know people that are very negative or cynical. These people are vibrating at a lower frequency. They can also be an inspiration because they can show us where we don’t want to be vibrating and why. To discover where you are in terms of vibrancy, consider where you fall on a scale between the most pessimistic person you know and the most vibrant. This is not in order to pass judgment, but rather it is important to know where you are as you begin working to raise your frequency so that you can notice and appreciate your progress.
There are many ways to raise your vibration, from working with affirmations to visualizing enlightened entities during meditation. One of the most practical ways to raise your vibration is to consciously choose where you focus your attention. To understand how powerful this is, take five minutes to describe something you love unreservedly—a person, a movie, an experience. When your five minutes are up, you will noticeably feel more positive and even lighter. If you want to keep raising your vibration, you might want to commit to spending five minutes every day focusing on the good in your life. As you do this, you will train yourself to be more awake and alive. Over time, you will experience a permanent shift in your vibrancy.

A Great Teacher
Living Like Water
Water is a great teacher that shows us how to move through the world with grace, ease, determination, and humility.
The journey of water as it flows upon the earth can be a mirror of our own paths through life. Water begins its residence on earth as it falls from the sky or melts from ice and streams down a mountain into a tributary or stream. In the same way, we come into the world and begin our lives on earth. Like a river that flows within the confines of its banks, we are born with certain defining characteristics that govern our identity. We are born in a specific time and place, within a specific family, and with certain gifts and challenges. Within these parameters, we move through life, encountering many twists, turns, and obstacles along the way just as a river flows.
Water is a great teacher that shows us how to move through the world with grace, ease, determination, and humility. When a river breaks at a waterfall, it gains energy and moves on, as we encounter our own waterfalls, we may fall hard but we always keep moving on. Water can inspire us to not become rigid with fear or cling to what’s familiar. Water is brave and does not waste time clinging to its past, but flows onward without looking back. At the same time, when there is a hole to be filled, water does not run away from it in fear of the dark; instead, water humbly and bravely fills the empty space. In the same way, we can face the dark moments of our life rather than run away from them.
Eventually, a river will empty into the sea. Water does not hold back from joining with a larger body, nor does it fear a loss of identity or control. It gracefully and humbly tumbles into the vastness by contributing its energy and merging without resistance. Each time we move beyond our individual egos to become part of something bigger, we can try our best to follow the lead of the river.

Meaningful doing
Do you ever find that you are merely trying and not really doing? If so, you’re not being who you truly are.
You don’t have to try to authentically be yourself. And in being yourself is where you’ll be most effective.
There is no power, only conflict, in trying to be someone or something you’re not. Instead of fighting against yourself, use your energy to more fully be and express yourself.
What you experience as trying, is not really you. What you step forward and do, without hesitation, without excuses and with great enthusiasm, is where you’ll create the most meaningful value.
Trying wastes precious time that could be much more gainfully invested in doing. Trying means that the direction you’re headed is not the direction in which you’re committed to going.
Yes, by all means make the difficult, challenging, complicated and effective efforts. Go beyond the meaningless trying and fill your life with meaningful doing.

WATER SCRYING
WATER SCRYING
Scrying
Scrying
in a variety of ways and one of my favourites is using it to pour melted
candle wax in to and use the shapes to tell what the upcoming year will be
like. Some water gazers prefer to have the light of a candle reflected on
the water surface. Others take the bowl outside on a cloudless night and,
capturing the moon’s reflection, divine by its appearance on the water.
Still others take crystals, place them in the bottom of the bowl, swish the
water a bit then divine the meaning from the shapes and patterns the
crystals make.
The ancient Greeks believed that nature spirits dwelled in fresh water and
so I believe this is the best kind of water to use however any water will
do. More traditional people feel that you should not use water from a tap
and so if you do get the chance to visit a stream or sacred well, collect
some water for use in your scrying.
To divine the future with your scrying bowl, pour water into it then let it
settle and ask your question. Sit with your back to the light in a darkened
room and gaze into but not at the water. As with a crystal ball, the water
may cloud. Eventually you may begin to see symbols within its cool depths.
Make note of any such symbols. When no further symbols are seen, begin the
process of interpretation.
——————————————————
Scrying
Scrying is a facinating practice in that it enables you to literally “see” the future (or present or past). Almost any reflective surface can be used for scrying (pronounced to rhyme with “crying”). A crystal ball and gazing mirror are two of the best.
Another form of divination, sometimes used by Witches, is scrying into a fire, called fire scrying.

Yemaya’s Unblocking Spell (2)
If you can’t swim or are afraid of water, you may still petition Yemaya.
-
Sit down in the sand at the waterline.
-
As the waves come in, greet them with your hands, gather up the water from the waves, and toss some over your head, some over your body.
-
Throw seven white roses to Yemaya.
-
Come out of the water without turning your back to the ocean. Let the candles burn out.
Cleansing Crystals with Running Water
If you’re fortunate enough to live near a stream, tie your stone in a pieces of cheesecloth or old pantyhose and with a piece of string fasten it to a branch or stone on the bank. Let the fabric wrapped stone rest in the water for at least twenty-four house. If you’re in an urban environment, you can set the stone in a strainer or colander and put it in your sink. Turn the cold water tap on and leave it three for a while. However, this method wastes a lot of water, so I don’t use it. Instead, I pour bottled spring water in a dish, and set the stones in it. Water absorbs energy whether it’s running or not, the movement simply add more energy to the process and gets it done faster.
Water is an excellent purifier. If you add a pinch of salt to it, it becomes even more powerful. Again, however, if there’s any metal attached to the stone, skip the salt and use pure water. Don’t subscribe earth for that pinch of salt in the technique, or you’ll end up having to rinse off the stone under the tap anyway.
Today’s Runes for June 20 is Berkana/Growth reversed
Berkana / Growth reversed
| Aspects, hindering your growth are frightening you. Carefully revise your part in that process and the part of the others involved. If you realize, that you’ve put your own wishes above all, you might have found the source of the blockage. Gently free yourself from it and put new energy into reaching your goals. A positive outcome is guaranteed. |
Stones
Stones are great to use in spellcrafting, because you can recycle them by cleansing and purifying them. Basically, this”washes” them clean of whatever energy with which you previously empowered the, as well as whatever energy they picked up during their work. Note that this does not remove their base energy. No matter what you do, you can never remove the basic energy encoded into the stones (or herb, or any component, for that matter). Once the stone has been cleansed, it’s ready to go again; a blank slate for you to program or charge for a new purpose. There are several ways to cleanse a stone.
Today’s I Ching Hexagram for June 2 is 12:Standstill
12: Standstill

During periods of stagnation, inferior elements can rise to power. When the inmates are overrunning the asylum, summon up your fortitude, hide your worth and withdraw. Concentrate on your personal affairs with a quiet dignity, even if that means giving up short-term rewards.
Desiring to change a situation too quickly often creates extra conflict. By accepting hardship, while striving to maintain integrity, you are preparing for future growth. A seed of prosperity is often hidden inside the husk of misfortune.
