The Fool – Major Arcana

The Fool Upright Meaning

Pamela Coleman-Smith’s artful rendition of The Fool in the Rider-Waite Tarot deck is often used to represent Tarot in general. Early classical versions of The Fool card, however, portray quite a different character — a person driven by base needs and urges, who has fallen into a state of poverty and deprivation.

In some earlier instances, The Fool is made out to be a carnival entertainer or a huckster. In others, he is portrayed as decrepit and vulnerable — as the cumulative result of his delusions and failures. Not until the 20th century do you see the popular Rider-Waite image of The Fool arise — that of an innocent soul before its fall into matter, untainted by contact with society and all its ills.

Modern decks usually borrow from the Rider-Waite imagery. Most Fool cards copy the bucolic mountainside scene, the butterfly, and the potential misplaced step that will send The Fool tumbling into the unknown. Although hares and rabbits look similar, they have very different symbolism. A hare is bigger than a rabbit, has longer ears, and possesses more powerful hind legs. The two most abundant kinds are the European Brown Hare and the Snowshoe Hare. The Snowshoe Hare is strongly linked to the Snowy Owl population, such that when hare populations are down, the owls stop breeding, and even die from starvation. The hare is more solitary and tougher than the rabbit. Hares don’t live in warrens or have maternity nests. The hare is associated with a number of myths from many different cultures. The Algonquin tribe honored the Great Hare as a demiurge, a role in the creation of the world. The Egyptians also saw the hare involved in a creation story. For them, the hare came to mean procreation, and then immorality. While the hare is often associated with impatience and haste (like the “Tortoise and the Hare” fable), it’s important to note that other cultures, like the Goths, saw the hare as fleet and swift, and symbols of diligence. This reflects the attitudes of medieval hunters, who viewed hares as a challenge to catch.

Hare people are considered sensitive and artistic, and also linked with ambition, fitness, and virtue. However, the hare is not just associated with positive things. Hares are also thought of as greedy and selfish, even a bad example for people. Hare is seen as a jokester, linked with trickery and fraud. Even those with hare medicine are clever, often unreliable, and frequently thinking of themselves.

Although hare has some qualities that are less than redeeming, there are things he can teach us. 7 of Swords – Minor Arcana

Bad Feelings; snooping

A man is carrying away seven swords from an open chest just behind him. The lock on the chest is broken, so he is stealing what is not his. On a shelf above the chest, two tiny Fire dragons are screaming in anger. The little dragons try to warn him, but he refuses to listen. The thief has forced open the perilous box of universal, magickal knowledge within his subconscious mind and thinks to steal away with the power (swords) he found within. Only an initiate, who has studied and brought balance to all areas of his life, is given the key to open this perilous chest of wisdom and power. The thief has found a shortcut to gain what he wants without the work or dedication. He believes he is above the Law and will not suffer karmic consequences. However, he is wrong, for the Law will always be balanced, regardless of human desires to the contrary.

Divination Meaning: You are creating trouble through the wrong use of personal power. Failure of a plan may come about because of wrong motives. Do not snoop into the affairs of another; you will get burned. You feel cheated or wronged.

Tonight, think of a question you have regarding your relationships or your profession. Now, gaze at the night sky: go outdoors, look out an open door or an open window. Say aloud:

May this star divination be clear and true.

So be it! Blessed stars! Blessed Be!

Continue gazing at the night sky and ask your question aloud, addressing it to the stars in the sky. If a shooting star streaks across the night sky, or if the star seems to shine brighter in the next thirty minutes, the answer to your question is “Yes.” If clouds move across your view in the next thirty minutes, then the answer is “No.” If nothing happens, ask again, until you receive an indication either “Yes” or “No” from the stars. Make a note of your question and the answer you received from the stars in your journal.

In Honor Of Cybele, Crystal Divination

As it was the Oracle of Delphi that brought Cybele to Rome, the act of divining the future was associated with her. It seems only fitting to celebrate the power of this Goddess by working with some form of divination on this day. For this magickal activity you will need:

A clear glass bowl filled with Spring water

A quartz crystal

A tapered white candle

Place the crystal in the clear glass bowl and cover it with the spring water. Set the white candle just behind the bowl and light it. With your right index finger, slowly stir the water around the crystal as you chant’

“Blessed spirits of the night,

Bless me now with second sight.”

Focus your attention on the water. It will begin to cloud over with a fine mist. Once the mist begins to flow out of the bowl, stop stirring the water and look directly into the bowl. Center your attention on the crystal and repeat the following:

“Fire and water, crystal clear,

Let the visions now appear.”

Visions of the future will appear. When the visions begin to fade, make a mental note of what you saw. Snuff out the candle and place your crystal under your pillow. The crystal will provide you with more information during your dream time. Later write your visions down in your dream journal of magickal BOS.

2 of Cups – Minor Arcana

Upright: The Two of Cups is one of the very few cards within the tarot that has an overall positive meaning in each position.

In a past position it indicates an old relationship that was loving, accepting, and on the surface perfect.

While it’s now changed, or even ended, it has left you with some valuable life lessons that have ultimately helped you to become better at forming lasting bonds with others.

The Two of Cups in a present position signifies the beginning of a new bond or the repairing of an old one.

If this card should appear in your present position, don’t be surprised if you find an old lover or estranged family member contacting you out of the blue.

This is a good sign that reconciliation is possible and to pursue it to the best of your ability.

A future position occupied by this card is an incredibly positive outcome.

With the Two of Cups in your future, dare to be bold in your relationships and taking action to bring them to the next level.

Reversed: If you’ve been allowing other people to come first before you’re taken care of, it’s no surprise that the Two of Cups would show up in the reverse.

As with most of the Cups suit, a reversal of this card means that you are not in control of yourself emotionally.

However, this being the Two of Cups makes it about another person or people. You’re allowed to make sure your loved ones are taken care of, but you can’t sacrifice yourself in order to do so.

When the Two of Cups shows in your reading in the reverse, it’s telling you to put your needs first once in awhile. It’s okay to be a little selfish for your own peace of mind.

Rune Wave is also known as Spiral – on of the oldest symbols. The spiral represents water everywhere, as well as power and movement. The fallen rune means that water flow won’t let you control something. It’s no sense to plough the sand, you should let it go. Water will flow you in necessary direction. Rely on the Universe will.
