Daily Cosmic Calendar for Monday, March 5th

The universe moves from fundamental adversary to conditional support system as a fairly intense weekend morphs into an exhilarating Monday. The good news starts early when Venus leaves forceful Aries for determined, hardworking Taurus (2:26AM PST) – the earth sign that Venus rules. Being practical, sensible and economical can all work in your favor as Venus remains in this fixed, power sign until April 3. Coming into the picture shortly after the Venus shift is Mercury uniting with Uranus at 4 degrees of Aries (3:36AM PST). As the first of three Mercury-Uranus encounters (the other two happening on March 18 and April 22), anytime these two planets break bread together we can expect a torrent of revelations pouring forth out of the Universal Mind. The question is whether we can think fast enough and deep enough in order to understand what to do with enhanced knowledge and wisdom. After a slightly frictional 45-degree tie between Ceres and Neptune (7:13AM PST) – an aspect that might decrease your productivity temporarily – the cosmos comes roaring back with enthusiasm as the Moon parallels Jupiter (10:36AM PST) and Venus (12:18PM PST). Not only are these two upbeat parallels equivalent to unions from the Moon to Jupiter and Venus, but they suggests that Venus is about to parallel the largest planet – Jupiter – very soon. Their exact parallel happens tomorrow morning at 6:39AM – offering a cornucopia of blessings across the board. Nevertheless, as Monday shifts into Tuesday, be more cautious and careful since the Moon parallels Mars (12:48AM on Tuesday). On the home front and with loved ones, use words to heal – not harm.

Calendar of the Moon for Monday, March 5th

Calendar of the Moon
3 Nion/Anthesterion

Day of Llyr

Color: Sea-blue
Element: Water
Altar: On a sea-blue cloth place a chalice of salt water, a skull, a dolphin, and a ship.
Offerings: Paper ships. Deal with fearful emotions that threaten to drown you.
Daily Meal: Fish or seafood.

Invocation to Llyr

We cross the sea at our own risk,
Be it the sea of water
Or the depths of our own
Internal tides of feeling.
We cross the sea at our own risk,
Knowing that the smooth expanse
Could at any moment become turbulent,
Degenerate into a vast whirlpool
And draw us screaming into the darkness.
We cross the sea at our own risk,
Navigating our way with signs
And symbols that have nothing
To do with the vast expanse we see,
But are just numbers, spun out of
The mind’s vast abilities,
The world of air and sky,
And sometimes they fail us.
We cross the sea at our own risk,
But if we do not cross it
We will be separated forever
By those terrible watery chasms.
Ocean god, we pray to you for mercy;
Bear us up and do not let us drown
In any ocean, within or without.

Chant:
Born of water, cleansing, powerful, flowing, healing, we are…..

(Let one who has been chosen to do the work of the ritual come forward with the bowl of salt water, and each shall dip their hands into it and mark themselves on their heart chakras and their heads. Then the salt water shall be poured out as a libation.)

Navigium – Poseidon’s Day

Colors: Blue and blue-green of the sea
Element: Water
Altar: Set with sea-colored cloths, figures of dolphins, the figure of a ship, a compass, and a great bowl of salt water.
Offerings: Sea salt. Face some emotion that seems overwhelming to you.
Daily Meal: Fish. Seafood. Seaweed.

Invocation to Poseidon

Great Bull from the Sea
Crashing against the rocks
Master of the waves and depths
Foaming horses champing wild
Break against the yielding shore
And you, Lord of bitter brine,
Sink not our ships as they make their way
From safe harbor to safe harbor.
And we shall sing the praises of Poseidon
Earth-shaker, loudest voice
In the world between heaven and underworld,
The voice that booms up from the depths
Of every water-borne soul.

Chant:
Earth-Shaker
Storm Maker
Lord of the Wave

(The compass is then passed from hand to hand, and each person in turn says, “Guide me in my navigations, Lord of the Unending Waters, and bring me safe home again.” The bowl of salt water is then passed hand to hand, and each splashes a bit onto their heads. The rest is poured out as a libation.)

(All join hands including those girl children who wish it, and dance in a circle.)

The Wicca Book of Days for March 5th – The Ship of Isis

The Wicca Book of Days for March 5th

The Ship of Isis

March 5 marked the start of the sailing season in ancient Greece and Rome. The return of ships to the sea after their dry-dock overwintering was celebrated with a festival dedicated to Isis Pelagia (“Isis of the Open Sea”), the Egyptian goddess in her capacity as the protector of sailors. The high point of the Navigium Isidis (“Ship of Isis”) ceremony was a procession led by the priests of Isis bearing items sacred to her, the focal point being a cart carrying an ornately decorated model ship. When the company arrived at the shore, this ship of Isis was launched as a placatory offering to the goddess in the hope that she would avert disasters at sea.

Treat Your Tresses!

Being ruled by Pisces, March 5’s polarity is feminine, so take advantage of ts womanly vibes. Women enacted smoothing Isis’s hair with ivory combs during the Navigium Isidis, so why not splash out on a top-quality hairbrush or deep-condition your locks?

Breaking A Curse

Breaking A Curse

On the first night of the waxing moon, gather the following items:

A square of black cloth a little larger than your hand

1 tablespoon of curry

1 tablespoon of dill

1 tablespoon of vervain

1 tablespoon powdered ginger

1 consecrated black candle

Paper and black ink pen

1 black string, knotted nine times

On paper, write the full name and birth date (if known) of the person who has cursed you. Place the paper in the center of the bag. One at a time, add the herbs, covering the slip of paper. Next, take the lit candle and drip 5 – 10 drops of wax over the paper and herbs.

Visualize the person who has cursed you and say their name aloud three times while tying the bag shut with the knotted string. The final step is to bury the bag someplace on the property of the person who cursed you. The bag must remain there undisturbed until the next waxing moon. At that time, dig up the bag and burn the contents. This will weaken that person’s power (usually until the night of the full moon) and the curse.

My Magickal Gift to You for March 4th – House Blessing Spell

I am sure my regular readers know that every Full Moon, I bless my home. I also try to remind all of you to do the same. To help you get the ball rolling, my git to you this day……

House Blessing Spell

It is a good idea, when moving into a new home or even every few months – to bless your home with positive energy. This is an effective way to bring positive energy and prosperity into your home.

Items you will need:

Sea Salt

Water

House Blessing Incense

Glass of Red Wine

Dried White Sage

Bell

In the room you spend most of your time in, or a “main room” of your house (like your living room) – cast a circle of power. You do not have to perform an elaborate ritual for this, however you can simply visualize a protective circle around you that slowly expands to encompass your entire living space and house. Invite positive energy, your guides and all spirits who will be positive to come to your aid – and release all those spirits and energies that are negative. An easy way to do this, is to say this, while casting your circle:

By Fire, Air, Earth and Water – I conjure three that there remain within thy frame, no adverse spell or enmity, or spirit not in accord with me, this is my Will, So Mote It Be!”

Take you Water and Salt, in a small bowl you will take with you on your journey through the house, place the dried sage on top of the water and salt. Have House Blessing Incense burning in the room you cast your circle. Then walking through the house, go to each door, window and entrance and anoint the doors and windows with a sprinkle of the mixture, while saying something to the effect of:

“By the Elements, I purify this home and all doorways. May love and light, prosperity and joy enter. May these passages allow friends and love ones to enter, and prevent those who wish ill or harm.”

Do this to all the windows and doors. Then follow your steps one more time, ringing the bell (this raises positive energies and spirits). Then take the wine, and anoint the front doorway with touches of wine. If you own your home, you can pour the wine across the doorway outside. Place the remaining water, salt and sage outside as an offering to the Gods. Close your circle and the Blessing is complete.

Deity of the Day for March 4th – Atar

Deity of the Day for March 4th

ATAR

God of Fire and Foiling Evil. The son of AHURA-MAZDA, he was born to foil the plans of the wicked AHRIMAN.

The plan that most needed foiling was a rampaging three-headed dragon named AZHI-DAHAKA. This had been created specifically to create anguish, cause pain, deal out death and finally destroy the Universe.

After several million years, ATAR managed to corner the dragon and chain it to a mountain. It is still snarling, wrenching and chewing up anything that ventures within reach.

A horrible feeling prevails that the chains won’t last for another million years. Has ATAR taken early retirement?

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

There are very few days when we have control of our time. No matter what our schedules may be, there is always a change taking place that keeps something from happening when it is supposed to happen. And when the day is ended and our schedules have no been met, then it begins to drag on our spirits.

Soon we become so wound up in the problems of the moment that the delights of our souls drift away and become a part of the mist of “someday”. Someday I will get to do what I want to do. Someday when this necessary work is finished – and is it possible that the things we believe to be so necessary are really robbers of our lives? Do we spend too much time with the menial tasks and allow our creativity – the ability to bring newness into our lives – to dry up and become nonexistent?

William Blake called this within us “God.” One of the greatest poets ever to live, he believed that if we keep alive our ability to see and feel the beauty of life, our menial tasks will become easy and the way successful.

Yesterday is only a dream, tomorrow only a vision, but today – we live. If we live as we should, our yesterdays will be dreams of happiness, and our tomorrow’s will be visions of hope.

Nothing is so sad as the man who spends all his time today judging tomorrow by his experiences of yesterday. He has a vision, but his faith does not support him to pursue it. If some great stroke of good fortune should overtake him, he will be all ready to go, but he doesn’t really expect it to happen. So today he sits waiting for the world to change for him, never guessing that he is the one who must change.

No one is so misled as the woman who has such a busy schedule that she hasn’t time to listen to her children. She expects to take the time to play with them – someday. But it is today that the bridges must be built from the soul to the body to the spirit. It isn’t something built from a quick kiss or a smart smack in the right place, but from daily communion and understanding.

Today is the very life of life when the best things are nearest – breath in our nostrils, light in our eyes, flowers at our feet, duties at our hand, and the path of God before us.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – March 4

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – March 4

“My father told me that Hopi earth does contain my roots and I am, indeed, from that land. Because my roots are there, I will find them.”

–Wendy Rose, HOPI/MIWOK

Everything that comes from the earth will return to the earth. We should be able to realize the connectedness to the earth. We should be able to feel toward Her just like She is our real Mother. We can easily feel this connectedness if we can answer these three questions: why am I?, who am I?, and where am I going? If we cannot answer these questions, then perhaps we need to talk to the Elders. Go to the Elders and ask, “Grandfather, why am I?; Grandmother, who am I?; Oh Great One, where am I supposed to go?” The Elders will help us with these three questions.

Grandfather, help me to stay centered today.

March 4 – Daily Feast

March 4 – Daily Feast

Few things that count in life are taken by great strides. Little by little, step by step, we inch forward. Great progress in a short time is so often short-lived and gives us the wrong idea of how things work. We build a consciousness, use good judgment, di gu go at nv in Cherokee, to move slowly and with awareness. But as we build, it is important to override the negatives that try to lodge in what we are doing. Our thinking is like a garden that needs to be cultivated. And our talking is even more important. The two go I tsu la, hand in hand, and what happens is a direct result of what we have dwelled on for many seasons. But it is in our power to make corrections and edge out trouble – little by little, but very surely.

The Daily Motivator for March 4th – The truth of who you are

The truth of who you are

The challenge of successful living is not in gaining access to life’s abundance, for there is always plenty of it. The challenge is in recognizing that abundance and making it into things that are meaningful and fulfilling.

Just as a tiny seed has within it all the information necessary to grow a massive tree, so do you have within you the kernel of your own fulfillment. That fulfillment comes about when you are most authentically you.

You cannot deny your purpose in the name of success. For if there is no purpose behind the result, there is no success.

Feel the truth of who you are. Put that truth into action in each moment of your life.

You are highly skilled and experienced at taking action and making things happen. So choose to make those things happen that create and support what you value most.

Pay great and loving attention to who you are. Continually give your own unique treasure to life, and you’ll experience life at its absolute best.

Daily OM for March 4th – Layers of Feeling

Layers of Feeling
Coping with Passive Aggression

Passive aggression is most often wielded by those who feel powerless and want to avoid their own true feelings.

Many people are taught from a young age to suppress feelings commonly regarded as negative, such as anger, resentment, fear, and sorrow. Those who cannot or will not express these emotions tend to engage in passive-aggressive behaviors that provide them with a means of redirecting their feelings. Passive aggression can take many forms: People who feel guilty saying “no” may continually break their promises because they couldn’t say no when they meant it. Others will substitute snide praise for a slur to distance themselves from the intense emotions they feel. More often than not, such behavior is a cry for help uttered by those in need of compassion and gentle guidance.

When we recognize passive-aggressive patterns in the behavior of others, we should never allow ourselves to be drawn into a struggle for power. Passive aggression is most often wielded by those who feel powerless in the face of what they perceive as negative emotions because they hope to avoid confronting their true feelings. They feel they are in control because they do not display overt emotion and often cannot understand how they have alienated their peers. If someone close to us shows signs of frustration or annoyance but claims nothing is amiss, we can point out that their tone of voice or gestures are communicating a different message and invite them to confide in us. When we feel slighted by a backhanded compliment, it is important that we calmly explain how the jibe made us feel and why. And when an individual continually breaks their promises, we can help them understand that they are free to say no if they are unwilling to be of service.

As you learn to detect passive aggression, you may be surprised to see a hint of it in yourself. Coping with the natural human tendency to veil intense emotions can be as simple as reminding yourself that expressing your true feelings is healthy. The emotions typically regarded as negative will frequently be those that inspire you to change yourself and your life for the better, whereas passive-aggressive behavior is a means of avoiding change. When you deal constructively with your feelings, you can put them behind you and move forward unencumbered by unexplored emotion.
