Never turn your good successful idea into an organization and set up councils and committees to run it. If you do, you will lose the common touch and the organization will turn to catchy phrases and initials that identify it. Committees will spend their time having lunch and talking about promotion rather than quality. People lose sight of quality and service as they try to squeeze out more hours, more money, more product that no longer is what it once was. Watch out for titles and power and wretched little people who want recognition with as little work as possible. Come down off of it. Do good service, make a good product that is not chicken soup from chemical flavorings. Do everything with the motto, “I can be trusted.” It will amaze you what it can do.

Feng Shui Tip for December 10th – ‘Holiday Travel’

The holidays are often a time for travel, and while the day before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year, December has it share of doozies. Certain sacred traditions say that if you carry a small packet of black cumin seeds (sprinkled with a bit of cinnamon for courage and strength) while you’re traveling, then you’ll be promised cosmic protection of a truly powerful sort. Be sure to keep that packet on your person so you can be sure of getting to your destination with ease and grace. While you’re at it, wrap either nine or 18 inches of red ribbon, thread or string around the handle of your suitcase to guarantee that your luggage arrives at the same place and time that you do!

Early December has rich earthy color that stands for strength and durability. Hundred-yea-old oaks stand guard over a multitude of younger growth and bear the brunt of cold winds and heavy snows. The little creeks hollow out from rushing waters and refill with sand and stones washed down from the hills. Everywhere are signs of longevity and power. Huge boulders tilted on end or covered by moss and lichen harbor the fox and possum. Regardless of how cultivated the land may be in one season, it returns to nature in another. No time shows nature’s raw strength like winter – and few things have to be hardier than people.

Cold wind and mist have pushed in to dampen the spirits of grownups – but not the children. These natural things are a part of their enjoyment during a Thanksgiving holiday. The woods ring with voices and the sounds of sword fights as rotten sticks collide in midair. No real duel could be this exciting or cause so many to roll in the leaves or to hide behind the gnarled wild rose. Evening brings a rush of feet. Coyotes have set up their evening concert and the horned owl has squalled enough to impress them that it must be suppertime beside the fire. It has been a good day and something to remember thankfully.

Happy Day Before Turkey Day To Ya, dearest friends of mine!

Well good morning/afternoon to ya’! How are all of you doing the day before Turkey Day? Myself, rather good. We went last night and picked up our turkey. We took Tom and had him smoked at one of the local Bar-B-Que joints, lol! It is not a joint, the restaurant is known all across the country for their bar-b-que. We got the turkey home and just had to have some sandwiches. That turkey melted in your mouth, damn it was delicious! Yum-yum! I told my husband I will never cook a turkey again. We will take it and have it smoked, boy, they are good.

Enough talking turkey, 🙂 or else I will be in there eating again. Seriously though, I would have been here sooner but our cable is out. Some of the office wanted to watch the news today while they worked. I went to turn the darn thing on and nothing!!!! So I called Comcast. I don’t know if any of you have had dealings with them or not. But I would soon as pull my hair out as mess with them. They talked about our problem for 5 minutes. Had me get up and go unplug the box, come back to the phone and then tell them if it was working. Well of course not! Really quickly the salesperson said, “it will take 30 minutes.” Then he proceeded to tell me all the specials they were having. He had worked us up a package that included our phone service. I said no. He then told me how much I would save. I still said no. Then he said well let me change your account and you can call and cancel it if you don’t want it. Final straw, I told him, “Have you not been hearing a word I have been saying? I do not want it! I don’t want anything done to our account. I just want my damn cable back!” That’s all it took, “there is an outage in your area, your service should be back on within the hour. Good day!” It is pitiful when you cannot get through to these salespeople. What should have took 10 minutes took 35 instead. All he had to do was listen, explain there was an outage and then hang up. Five minutes. But heck no, he had to waste my time after I told him again and again, NO! I know these companies push their employees to do this but don’t they realize they can also lose customers this way. Apparently not!

Oh one more thing and I will leave you alone. Do you have any opinions about these stores opening on Thanksgiving tomorrow? I definitely have one. You share yours and I will share mine. Come on, I want to hear from you…….

Wishing You & Yours A Very Blessed Saturday, Dear Brothers & Sisters!

Good Saturday Morning, dear brothers & sisters! Long time no talk too! How ya’ll been doing? I must admit I am feeling fantastic today. The Sun is shining and it is about 60 degrees here. I finally got my staples out from my surgery. Since then I have been going 90 to nothing around here. Everyone babied me so, now I am driving them crazy. They keep hollering I am going to over do, HA! They don’t know it but when I feel a pull or a little pain, I stop and sit down. Gee, you would think I was 2 years old and didn’t have sense enough to take care of myself. But I guess I shouldn’t complain I know they all love me and have good intentions. I just hate being sick. It gets on my nerves. I have never been a person to sit around and do nothing. I have always had to be in something. That sitting in the wheelchair like to have drove me rabid. Anyway it is said and done, I appreciate and love all of them for their caring of me.

Hubby and I got up this morning and went down to the animal refuge to check on them. We have had a pack of dogs running again. All the critters were ok. We fed them, hubby cleaned out the stalls and I coached him on how to do it, lol! Then we took old Tom Turkey to town to have him smoked this year. You want to hear something hilarious? My daughter bought a new house. She decided she would cook Thanksgiving dinner for everyone. I was talking to her on the phone and asked her what time we need to be there. Her reply was, “Oh, I have been aiming to talk to you about that!” I thought “oh, shit!” And I was right, she wanted to know if I would come over to her house, spend the night and cook the turkey. I said, “I don’t think so.” Then she wanted to know if I would cook it here. Hubby spoke up and said, “no.” He told her I had no business pulling and tugging on a heavy turkey. She then asked me how to cook a turkey. I gave her instructions and asked her if she needed anything else (boy, do I know when to stick the old foot in the mouth, lol!). Her answer was, “oh, yes, momma could you cook the dressing, sweet potatoes, devil the eggs, fix a green bean casserole and a pumpkin pie.” She doesn’t want much does she, lmao! I finally asked her what was the point of us having dinner at her house, if I was going to do all the cooking. That pissed her off. She said, “well then just fix the dressing, sweet potatoes and a pie.” I know why she want to have the dinner at her house. But I just wish she would learn how to cook before she starts showing off her house. Her husband was telling me that the house had a huge kitchen to it. It was hilarious, her husband and I both said at the same time, “What a waste of space, lol!”

I am going to fly for now. I have a lot more to tell you about things that happened during my recuperation. It was like being at the zoo around here. But I feel 100& better and now things are going to get back to normal. I have missed all of you and look forward to hearing from you. Till then….

Answer #1: C., 3,000 calories—and 229 grams of fat.

Answer #2: TRUE. White meat has half the calories (and a quarter of the fat) of dark meat with skin—so stick to white meat to save on calories…or to justify a second helping. Or, make your Thanksgiving meal even healthier by adding vegan options.

3. TRUE OR FALSE: Eating with family and friends causes you to eat more.

4. Start with this appetizer before a big holiday meal to consume fewer calories overall:

Stick to red wine for the health benefits: it’s a rich source of antioxidants and one glass a day may even lower your risk of a heart attack, help prevent blood clots and reduce blood vessel damage caused by fat deposits.

Answer #6: C., 6 pounds. The average person consumes an extra 600 calories a day between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, packing on about six extra pounds by the time the ball drops.

How to Hold a Gratitude Ritual

Do a Gratitude Ritual to express your thankfulness.

For many Wiccans and Pagans, autumn is a time of thanks giving. Although this is the most obvious around the Mabon holiday, if you live in the United States, most of your friends and family will be giving thanks in November. If you’d like to tie in to that a little, but with a Pagan flair, you might want to consider doing a short gratitude ritual as a way of expressing your own thankfulness.

Here’s How:

Before you begin, decorate your altar with symbols of the season. You may want to choose items that represent abundance, such as:
- Baskets of fruit, such as apples or grapes
- Cornucopias
- An abundance mandala
- Colors associated with abundance, such as gold and green
- Symbols of things you’re thankful for, such as your health or your career
- Photos of your family and friends who mean a lot to you
You’ll also want to have a candle on your altar. Gold or green is preferable, but you can use another color if it signifies abundance to you. Also, make a batch of Gratitude Oil ahead of time to use in the ritual.
If your tradition calls for you to cast a circle, go ahead and do so.
As you begin, take a moment to reflect on the abundance in your life. When we say abundance, it doesn’t necessarily mean material or financial gain — you may be abundant if you have friends who love you, a satisfying family life, or a rewarding career. Think about that things you have for which you are most grateful. These are the things you will be focusing on in this rite. As you’re thinking about these things, anoint the candle with the Gratitude Oil, and then light it on your altar table or workspace.
If you have a particular deity in your tradition who is associated with thankfulness, you may wish to call out to this god or goddess and invite them into your circle. If not, that’s okay too — you can express your gratitude to the universe itself.
Beginning at one corner of the table, begin saying the things you are thankful for, and why. It might go something like this:
I am thankful for my health, because it allows me to feel well. I am thankful for my children, for keeping me young. I am thankful for my career, because each day I get paid to do what I love. I am thankful for my job, because I am able to feed my family. I am thankful for my garden, because it provides me fresh herbs. I am thankful for my coven sisters, because they make me feel spiritually complete…

and so forth, until you have expressed your thankfulness for everything in your life.
If you’re doing this ritual with a group, each person should anoint a candle of their own, and call out their own things that they are thankful for.
Take a few more minutes to meditate on the candle flame, and to focus on the notion of abundance. While you’re thinking about things you are grateful for, you might also wish to consider the people in your life that are grateful towards you, for the things you have done. Recognize that gratitude is a gift that keeps on giving, and that counting one’s blessings is an important thing to do, because it reminds us of how truly fortunate we are.
Note: It’s important to realize that one of the things about being thankful is that we should let people who have made us happy know they’ve done so. If there’s someone specific you wish to thank for their words or actions, you should take the time to tell them so directly, instead of (or in addition to) merely doing a ritual that they’ll never know about. Send a note, make a phone call, or tell them in person how much you appreciate what they’ve done for you.
