Cut Hair to Retard Growth, Mow to Retard Growth, Entertain Friends, Host a Party

General Meaning: When light becomes dim, it may be wise to become invisible. The image is of fresh darkness, the period after the sun has gone down or the fire has gone out. There is still much activity left over from the light of day, while movements in the outer world become more dangerous. Even the smallest sound, the faintest glow of light, can attract unwanted attention.
When the darkness of stupidity reigns, it is best that your own brilliance stay ‘hidden under a bushel basket.’ That is, your thoughts and efforts should be quiet and self-contained, and protected, as much as possible, from disruptive influences.
Whatever you do, don’t let yourself be swept along on the current of conventional wisdom when dangerous uncertainties exist. Try not to become too depressed or anxious; this period will pass. Just endure it for now and inwardly preserve your self-confidence, while outwardly remaining cooperative and flexible. The time to assert yourself will come. Avoid looking too far ahead if you have not yet achieved your goals. That only feeds regret and longing, which can eat away at your inner resources.
Be cautious and reserved. Control yourself. Do not needlessly awaken dormant forces of opposition. During dark, unsettled periods, it is best to step gingerly around the sleeping dogs.

Meditation to Meet Your Earth Guide
Set up a simple altar with a green or brown candle and herbal incense. You may wish to use a green altar cloth and your pentacle. Cast your personal circle. Take several slow, deep, cleansing breaths and relax your whole body. Close your eyes. Allow your breathing to show and become regular. Take deep, slow breaths. Visualize the gateway to earth. Make the gate as elaborate as you wish, using any material that you desire. To open, does it swing wide? Does it lift up? Does it dissolve? Keep focused on your breath, and allow the gate to open. Relax. Walk through the gateway and down the path. Take a moment to observe the world around you. The grass is a beautiful emerald green. There are flowering tees and shrubs everywhere you look. The nearby hillsides are covered with flowers and green healthy grass. As you walk, you notice a figure in the distance. Walk toward it. Stay focused on your breath. Standing in front of you is your guide for exploring the elemental realm of earth. It could be an animal, a human or a mythical creature. Greet your guide. Listen to what he has to say. When you have heard all you wish, thank him. Always respect your guide, as he will be with you a long time. Slowly walk back up the pathway to the gate. Focus on your breath. Walk through the gate and see it close. Allow yourself a few more deep breaths and then open your eyes. Write down what you learned in a journal for safekeeping. Close your circle.
Earth Magick
The term “earth magick” is somewhat of a misnomer. Many of the magical techniques presented here do not utilize actual earth (dirt, etc.): however, they are typically considered to be earth specialties. Business, protection, prosperity and fertility all fall in this category.
Earth magick utilizes two main techniques: burying and transporting. We transport basically anytime we use earth in a spell that does not include the burial of the item or take place directly upon the soil. For example, if a love one tracked muddy foot prints into my home and I swept them up and saved the dirt for later use in a healing spell, this would be considered transporting.
You may bury things in the earth for the purpose of cleansing an item of negative vibrations, ridding yourself of an item (banishing), planting seeds for future growth of crops or blessing an item.
You may transport the element of earth by placing soil in a charm bag or in your home, using a mud mask, or even growing houseplants. Many magical practitioners make use of dirt by piling it on their altar and burning candles in the pile. As dirt is sacred, it is fine to do this. Although traditions vary, and many practitioners prefer to keep their altar surface spotlessly clean, the Earth Witch uses the power of dirt.
It doesn’t matter which of the techniques you use—burying and transporting both hold the full power of earth, even when the soil is used in small amounts.
Various kinds of dirt are said to perform specific functions in many magical practices. According to Hoodoo and Voodoo traditions, grave-yard dirt is thought to hold within it the vibrations of the departed soul. The ritual collection of graveyard dirt includes getting in touch with the spirit of the body in the grave and leaving a payment for the dirt (usually a coin on the gravestone). For instance, if your intention was to use the dirt to cause harm, you would find a grave that held a murder victim or some other tragic soul and use the dirt from it. Also incorporated into the ritual collection of graveyard dirt is the time of day in which the dirt is collects and the corresponding area of the body in the grave. In other words, for a love spell, you would take dirt from the are where the heart of the body lies.
Dirt from a crossroads is considered sacred in almost all magical traditions. It is believed to be loaded with supernatural powers. It is used for protection, blessings, banishing, domination–virtually any purpose. It is thought to be neutral, so one has only to direct it according to one’s wishes.
Santeria incorporates the magical qualities of dirt in the following ways:
Bank dirt: Dirt from the area around a bank is thought to hold prosperity within it.
Courthouse dirt: Dirt from the area around a courthouse is used to gain victory in legal disputes.
Dirt from the bottom of a person’s shoes: This dirt is said to allow one to dominate or cause harm to the owner of the shoes.
Dirt from the four corners: This mixture of dirt is thought to open the road to success. This particular dirt is considered a four-way crossroads.
Forest dirt: Forest dirt is considered protective.
Library dirt: Dirt from the area around a library is used in spells to increase one’s knowledge and wisdom.
Mountain dirt: Dirt from a mountain is used in cleansing practices.
Racetrack dirt: This dirt is used in gambling spells to increase luck.
Seashore dirt: This dirt is thought to be cleansing.

| Name: | Sadie |
Age: | Four months old |
| Gender: | Female | Breed: | Rottweiler |
| Home: | Geneva, Illinois, USA | ||
|
Sadie is such a wonderful dog. We got her the week of Halloween because our old dog passed away. At first Sadie had potty training issues but she seems to be over that now, which we are very glad for. She loves food. Especially eggs and ham. I have never seen a dog so excited to eat plain dog food.
Her favorite thing to do is play tug of war. She has a problem with jumping on furniture. It is very funny. I run over to get her off of the couch and she will leap off. I know she does know she is not supposed to be on the furniture! She will also run around with things in her mouth (sometimes toys, sometimes things she is not supposed to have). Then we have to try and catch. It is actually sort of fun, though. She knows Sit and Shake already, and she absolutely loves people. I love her so so much! |

Making A Family Candle
by Patricia J. Telesco
“A Charmed Life: Celebrating Wicca Every Day”
For this activity you will need a fair amount of candle drippings,
preferably from candles you’ve used in magick for peace, joy, unity and
other similar qualities that you’d like to see manifest in your family.
You’ll also nee a piece of wick two inches in length, something to
weight it with, such as a button, a cleaned out quart-sized milk carton,
and a pencil that’s long enough to go across the top of the milk carton.
Also gather some finely powdered herbs that symbolize your wishes for
the
family ( each person should choose one.) Examples include lavender for
joy, nutmeg for health, rose for love and luck, violet for peace, mint
for protection, and sandalwood for spirituality.
Wait until the moon is full if possible. Secure one end of the wick to
the pencil and the other end to the button, so that the button touches
the bottom of the milk carton and the length in between is fairly taut.
Put the wax cuttings into a non-aluminum pan in a pan of water over a
low flame and gather everyone around the stove, which represents the
warmth and the love of
your household.
Each person should take a turn stirring the wax clockwise and sprinkle
in his or her herb, while verbalizing the wish it represents.
Let this mixture cool slightly before pouring it into the milk carton to
set. Release the wax mixture from the mold by quickly dipping it in a
sink full of hot water. Light this candle any time tensions or anger
begin saturating your home, or for family spells or rituals.
Candle Spell for Success
To dissolve blockages standing in your way at work, school, or in your
personal life, find a yellow, gold, or white candle. With a toothpick
or crystal point, carve a symbol into the wax that identifies the area
where you desire success. Visualize obstacles and imagine them
dissolving in the candle flame. Chant the following as many times as
you like:
I will succeed
my goal is near.
I will succeed
my way is clear.
Allow the candle to burn out.

The spiritual meaning of number Five deals with travel, adventure, and motion. With the highs that come with these attributes, Fives also carry instability and unpredictability, and radical changes. The spiritual meaning of Five draws our attention to the wonder of life, and beckons us to appreciate the perception of chaos all around us. Five has wild vibrations: primitive and erratic. When Five continues to pop up in your life be prepared for some action, like a trip. Remember, trips aren’t all necessarily taken physically. Some of the best journey’s are taken in the mind and spirit.
It is crucial that crystal balls and scrying glass are kept cleansed, both physically and spiritually. A dusty crystal ball reveals nothing. A crystal ball covered with negative spiritual debris may reveal distortions.
Cleanse with the following:
* A blend of spring water and vinegar.
* One of these charged waters: Holy Water, Marie Laveau Water, Notre Dame Water.
* A water-based herbal infusion made with dried mugwort and/or anise seeds.
* Mugwort hydrosol
Add flower essence remedies as desired to any of the above formulas. Mugwort flower essence remedy enhances the crystal ball’s powers; Dr Bach’s Rescue Remedy or a similar emergency formula will remove and assimilate disturbing or traumatic visions seen within.

| Scrying or crystal gazing is to use a crystal ball, a seer stone ,or other crystal as a divining tool . One seeks to receive visions or information about issues, the future, a present situation or to foretell events , discover hidden knowledge , prophecy, or perception by intuition and instinctive foresight.
Traditional crystal gazing is something I don’t often do because it seems easier for me to receive information by using an imaginary ball or screen which I see in my mind or which appears before me . Sometimes this occurs while I am holding a crystal. On the occasions I have received information while crystal gazing, the information has not appeared in the crystal but in front of my brow chakra or in my head . So to me the Many people do see visions in the crystal. Some see or sense symbols, colors or shapes that they interpret. Other people actually see images or events unfolding as though viewing a movie. The process of gazing is quite similar to other psychic reading and meditation techniques . Crystals are amplifiers and transmitters and receivers of energy. This gives them the capacity to assist seekers in scrying and other divination. The choice of a crystal scrying tool is entirely up to each individual. Some people prefer a clear crystal ball or a seer stone which is frosted on the outside with a clear polished internal center area. Others people prefer The process of learning to scry consistently can be a long one so patience is of importance. There are several different traditions of scrying. The principle differences are often in the set up and lighting surrounding the crystal . The best lighting for beginners seems to be a dimly lit room. Neutral light, such as that of north light or an overcast day or twilight is usually less distraction than brighter light. Some scryers prefer that light be behind them and over their shoulder . Others prefer to place a candle behind the crystal ball or other scrying crystal. You want to have your gazing crystal in a place where it is comfortable for you to gaze into it for quite a while. You do not want to have reflections of surrounding objects visible in the crystal. If you have a light box you may find that placing your scrying tool on it is perfect as the crystal is completely lit from beneath. If you do not have a light box the crystal is often placed on a stand on a black or dark blue silk or velvet cloth or on a dark covered pillow. Your gazing crystal may want to be cleared before and after each use by your preferred method. I recommend clearing with shakti from the Crystal Empowerments if you have been attuned to that system or a shakti from another energy system or with breath. Other clearing methods also work well if not as swiftly. Clearing crystal balls is more about removing influences from previous work than about clearing the crystal itself. Many crystal reader and scryers prefer that they be the only person to touch their gazing crystal because another person’s energy might be absorbed by the crystal and effect readings . A few scryers do have the querant ( person being read for) hold the crystal before reading. This is in order to fine tune the crystal to that persons energy. Most people probably try too hard when learning to scry. Their own effort to see something in the crystal interferes with the process. Relax and allow yourself to be open to the experience. Begin by Communing with the crystal and grounding and centering yourself. Connect with your high self and or spiritual source. Deep breathing can help with this connection. This will eliminate any possibility of contact by or with entities that might be considered hostile or negative. Whatever gazing or other divination method is being used people get clearer results when they have a clear reason for scrying. It is good to have prepared a question or questions or formed a clear intention to receive information about a particular subject or situation rather than to read the crystal just out of curiosity . Decide your intention and purpose for the reading , (which initially will probably just be to learn how to scry). Gaze into the crystal with a soft visual focus and a mental openness. Gaze into the ball, but do not stare. Some people suggest you try not to blink but blinking will not interfer with your reading. Do not focus on your blinking while you are gazing. Just relax and gaze. Most people do not get results the first time or first few times they sit with the crystal . You might see easily understood images but you may see clouds or colors or symbols. Often it helps to have a pen and paper at hand to keep a quick log of symbols or words and other impressions Though not everyone can maintain focus and take notes . There is no absolutely uniform system for interpreting the meaning of symbols and colored clouds. Dream books and color healing guides can have suggestions for traditional interpretations of symbols . These tools help you awaken your intuition about the meaning of the patterns and images you see. The degree of turbulence and movement in clouds may There are traditions that many readers use. Here is one set of interpretations ,but it is not definitive, use your intuition . Blue clouds may symbolize success of career or business, I recommend that if you have a set of color meanings and correspondences that you are already familiar with see if those work for you in scrying before you work at learning another system. There are quite a few books and web sites about crystal gazing and other scrying methods if you want to explore this area more thoroughly |
