A Thought for Today

I saw this quote and knew it would be in time with many of our personal drummers. Always be proud of who you are and hold your head high with your shoulders up and squared no matter what others might say or post on social media about you, or even the way someone looks at you. Remember you are who you are supposed to be and to Hades with what others think about you.

Until we meet again blessed be dear sisters, brothers, and honored guests!

Planet Line over New York Bridge

Explanation: There’s an interesting sky to see if you wake up before the Sun. Lined up on toward the eastern horizon are four planets in a row. The planets are so bright they can even be seen from the bright sky inside a city. In fact, the featured image was taken from New York City, USA, with the foreground highlighted by the RFK (TriboroughBridge. Pictured, the planets are, left to right, JupiterVenusMars, and Saturn. The planets all appear in a row because they all orbit the Sun in the same plane. This plane, called the ecliptic plane, was created in the early days of our Solar System and includes all planets, including Earth. The morning planet parade will continue throughout April and May, and will even be joined by Mercury in June.

A Great Website for Irish Pagan Information

I have been following this website Irish Pagan School for about two years and have taken a couple of courses through them about Irish Celtic Paganism. The first course I took was on Ogham and even though I have been reading ogham Staves for years I learned somethings I was doing wrong that would affect a reading and some new ways to go about using the Ogham alphabet. Their courses are do not cost a lot for the information you can gain plus you can go back to the material time and time again.  You will get almost daily information usually in the form of a video through youtube.com. You can find the list of a variety of topics here by Irish Pagan School Videos I highly recommend watching a few if you are all interested in Celtic Paganism. Even with their Irish accent they are easy to understand.

Yesterday’s email announced a new way to gain information and I am really looking forward to listening to their podcasts. Here is the email I received including the link for the podcasts.

Printable – April 2022 Northern Hemisphere Gardening/Planting Moon Calendar

Thank you to Dr. Digital Philosophy for giving me the little push I needed to put the idea in my head to post this. I will post whatever other months I can find the month before, hopefully for both hemispheres.

Please read this first:

From Astro-Seek.com

1) Moon Phase x Moon Zodiac Sign:

Please keep in mind, that Gardening by Moon Phase and Gardening by Moon Zodiac Sign are two different/independent biodynamic systems and they might give you different or contradictiory gardening recommendations.

  • a) Each Moon Phase (except Full Moon and New Moon) lasts about 1 week
  • b) Each Moon Zodiac Sign lasts about 2.5 days

Try to experiment with these two systems to find which recommendations suits you the most.

2) Tropical (Astrological) x Sidereal (Astronomical) Zodiac:
(1-2 days difference in Leaf, Fruit, Root and Flower days)

There are two different zodiacs for determining the Moon Sign:

  • a) Tropical zodiac (Astrological) is based on the seasons – Vernal Equinox is fixed as 0° Aries (The 1st Fruit day)
  • b) Sidereal zodiac (Astronomical) takes into account Precession of Equinoxes and shifts 0° Aries back by cca 1-2 days. Maria Thun who was an authority on biodynamics was using this Sidereal zodiac

Try to experiment also with these two zodiac systems to find which system suits you better.

Biodynamic Calendar – Icon Legend
Leaf Days Leaf days (Water Element)

  • It is the appropriate time to sow, transplant and cultivate plants from which the intention is to use Leaves and Stems.
  • Ex: Cabbage, Salads, Lettuce, Spinach, Green onions, Broccoli, Cauliflower and Celeriac.
  • Leaf plants should be harvested in Flower days (or Fruit days).
  • Harvesting in Leaf days is not recommended (products start decomposing in a shorter time).
  • Beekeeping: Working with the hive is not recommended in Leaf days.

Fruit Days Fruit days (Fire Element)

  • It is the appropriate time to sow, transplant and cultivate plants that produce Fruits and Seeds.
  • Ex: Cherry, Strawberry, Tomato, Pea, Bean, Corn, Pumpkin, Nut, Cereal, Courgette.
  • Harvesting in Fruit days allows fruits and seeds to have a better storage quality.
  • Leaf plants should be harvested in Flower days (or Fruit days).
  • Beekeeping: Fruit days stimulate the collection of nectar. Bees are also supposed to be more gentle these days.

Root Days Root days (Earth Element)

  • It is the appropriate time to sow, transplant and cultivate Root plants and Root vegetables.
  • Ex: Carrot, Turnip, but also Potato, Beet-root, Garlic, Onion, Leek.
  • Crop should be stored in Root days.
  • Beekeeping: Bees should be encouraged to build more comb.

Flower Days Flower days (Air Element)

  • It is the appropriate time to sow, transplant, cultivate and harvest Flower plants or herbs used for medicinal purposes.
  • Flowers, if cut in these days, have a more intense scent and endure longer.
  • Leaf plants should be harvested in these Flower days.
  • Beekeeping: Flower days stimulate brood activity and colony development. Bees are also supposed to be more gentle these days.

A Thought for Today

I believe in always follow the path of my own drummer not the path my family or society thinks I should follow. The same goes for letting my inner child out to play daily. Yes, I might look silly to others when I decide to take playtime outside with my fur kids, but I do not care as we are all having fun plus it tires them out for a nice long nap.

In what ways to you walk your own path and not one preset for you by family or society?

Blessed be dear sisters, brothers, and honored guests!

Hexagram Seventeen/17

Sui / Following

Thunder beneath the Lake’s surface.
The Superior Person allows himself plenty of sheltered rest and recuperation while awaiting a clear sign to follow.

Supreme success.
No mistakes if you keep to your course.

SITUATION ANALYSIS:

Thunder from the Lake — the lulling, rhythmic roar of the faithful tide, eternally wearing away the stone of the shoreline, forever obedient to the phases of the moon.
The pull of the moon on the tide is the Following called for now.
As mighty as the tide is in its own right, it is ever the puppet of the invisible, irresistible gravity of the moon.
What cyclical forces pull you along?
Are you futilely attempting to resist a natural attraction?

Seen toward the bottom of the image are small, dark molecular clouds rich in obscuring cosmic dust. Called Thackeray’s Globules for their discoverer, these “eggs” are potential sites for the gravitational condensation of new stars, although their fates are uncertain as they are also being rapidly eroded away by the intense radiation from nearby young stars. Together with patchy glowing gas and complex regions of reflecting dust, these massive and energetic stars form the open cluster Collinder 249. This gorgeous skyscape spans about 60 light-years at the nebula’s estimated 6,500 light-year distance.

Stars and Planets over Portugal

Image Credit & Copyright: Miguel Claro (TWAN, Dark Sky Alqueva)

Explanation: The mission was to document night-flying birds — but it ended up also documenting a beautiful sky. The featured wide-angle mosaic was taken over the steppe golden fields in MértolaPortugal in 2020. From such a dark location, an immediately-evident breathtaking glow arched over the night sky: the central band of our Milky Way galaxy. But this sky had much more. Thin clouds crossed the sky like golden ribbons. The planet Mars appeared on the far left, while the planets Saturn and Jupiter were also simultaneously visible — but on the opposite side of the sky, here seen on the far right. Near the top of the image the bright star Vega can be found, while the far-distant and faint Andromeda Galaxy can be seen toward the left, just below Milky Way’s arch. As the current month progresses, several planets are lining up in the pre-dawn sky: JupiterVenus, Mars, and Saturn.
