2022 July 31

Starburst Galaxy M94 from Hubble

Explanation: Why does this galaxy have a ring of bright blue stars? Beautiful island universe Messier 94 lies a mere 15 million light-years distant in the northern constellation of the Hunting Dogs (Canes Venatici). A popular target for Earth-based astronomers, the face-on spiral galaxy is about 30,000 light-years across, with spiral arms sweeping through the outskirts of its broad disk. But this Hubble Space Telescope field of view spans about 7,000 light-years across M94‘s central region. The featured close-up highlights the galaxy’s compact, bright nucleus, prominent inner dust lanes, and the remarkable bluish ring of young massive stars. The ring stars are all likely less than 10 million years old, indicating that M94 is a starburst galaxy that is experiencing an epoch of rapid star formation from inspiraling gas. The circular ripple of blue stars is likely a wave propagating outward, having been triggered by the gravity and rotation of a oval matter distributions. Because M94 is relatively nearby, astronomers can better explore details of its starburst ring.

1.2 billion-year-old groundwater is some of the oldest on Earth

Groundwater that was recently discovered deep underground in a mine in South Africa is estimated to be 1.2 billion years old. Researchers suspect that the groundwater is some of the oldest on the planet, and its chemical interactions with the surrounding rock could offer new insights about energy production and storage in Earth’s crust.

In fact, Oliver Warr, a research associate in the department of Earth sciences at the University of Toronto in Canada and lead author of a new study about the groundwater discovery, described the location in a statement as a “Pandora’s box of helium-and-hydrogen-producing power.”

The South African groundwater was also enriched in the highest concentration of radiogenic products — elements produced by radioactivity — yet discovered in fluids, according to the study, demonstrating that ancient groundwater sites may one day potentially serve as energy sources.

The gold and uranium mine, known as Moab Khotsong, sits about 100 miles (161 kilometers) southwest of Johannesburg and is home to one of the world’s deepest mine shafts, plunging to depths of 1.86 miles (3 km) below the surface at its deepest, according to the mine (opens in new tab).

The new find follows the prior discovery of approximately 1.8 billion-year-old groundwater made during a 2013 research expedition (also led by Warr). That finding occurred at Kidd Creek Mine in Ontario, which lies beneath the Canadian Shield, a geologic structure comprised of igneous

Spell for Today – Collect My Debt Spell

Saturday is the sixth day of the workweek. It’s officially the weekend. Some see it as one of the luckiest days for gambling. It’s one of those days where you can do what you need around your home and relax, as well. You can take care of a little business, then, reap the rewards. It’s a really good day to do collect, courage, reap, gamble, and exercise spells.

Collect My Debt Spell

Items needed:

1 sheet of paper
1 pen or pencil
1 gray ribbon
1 white candle
1 penny
1 bottle of glue
1 lighter or match
Light a white candle and close your eyes. Think about the money that is owed to you and how you feel about that situation. If you are angry at the person who owes you money, get rid of that anger now. Get the sheet of paper, bottle of glue, and a penny, and place them in front of you. Now, write down how much is owed to you on the sheet of paper. After that, below where you wrote the figure, glue the penny to the paper. Allow the glue to dry. Without breaking the penny from the paper, roll the paper up and tie the gray ribbon around it. Place the scroll you just made under your bed. Soon, you should be able to collect the debt. Once you collect the debt, remove the penny, give it away, and discard the scroll.
