The Witches Magick for Sept. 7th – A Croning Ritual

goth114

A Croning Ritual For The Coven

This ritual occurs when a woman has reached the point in her life when her Saturn has returned twice to her natal point.
This happens to everybody at the age of 56. Saturn is the teaching planet, slow and complete; We celebrate the effects of this celestial event on the woman’s life by the Croning ritual. Others perform the croning ritual once a woman no longer menstrates, after menopause.

Call a party for the young Crone, friends and relatives can cooperate with the invitations. Try to have some entertainment as well; Invite a woman who plays an instrument, or recites poetry. When all arrive, the group holds hands in a circle and sings a song to unify the group soul.

Lady listen to my hearts song
Lady Lady listen to my hearts song
I will never forget you,
I will never forsake you,
I will never forget you,
I will never forsake you!

After a couple of rounds of this, when the time is right, the priestess of the event steps out to address the rest.
This priestess can be anyone who loves the new Crone.

Priestess:(or chosen person)

We gathered together to celebrate (name) becoming (56) years old, and entering the Wise Age. Her proper title is from now on among women “Young Crone”. Who is the Crone you ask? A Crone is a woman who has reached wisdom in her heart, who is called on in disputes to arbitrate, who is called on in despair to sooth the wounds, a young Crone who is everybody’s older sister. Who else is the Crone you ask? a young Crone is the Goddess in her third aspect; she is Magera, she is Hecate, she is the Goddess of unbound power. Folklore has it that Crones bring good luck when you see them on the streets, if they smile on you, you will have a very good day. They appear in important times to show the grace of the goddess. Crones’ wishes must be respected for the Goddess
demands this from the younger generation. . Crones enjoy special favors, their magic is stronger, their spells are faster, their loves are stronger.

All:

Bless you (name) with good health, happiness, and long life!

Now the youngest of the group starts a circle of white candles, previously set out in the middle of the room; 56 of them, one for each year of the Crone’s life. Others can help after the Nymph starts. the woman priestess has a bell with which she will ring out 56 times again for each year that has passed. If the Crone would like to give a speech, here is a good place to do it. When the circle of light is done, the Young Crone steps into it and the bell tolls out 56 times, after which a round of applause from everyone is heard. Congratulations and good wishes are showered on the woman in the circle. As a special feature, the young Crone receives her Crone Jewel. This jewel can be a broach, a necklace, a ring; As long as it has a nice purple stone in it. The color of purple is that of synthesis. It is a royal color, a learning color, and a powerful color.

Priestess:

I present you with your Crone Jewel, to remind you that you are our teacher, our beloved sister, and Crone of the
Goddess.

Young Crone:

I traveled the road from my mothers breasts to Cronehood. I thank the Goddess for the good seasons that passed, and,I toast the good seasons to come! Blessed be!

All enjoy the party, dance, perform, enjoy1

You know you can know a person for years (like I have Lady A) and truly not know them.  I had always wondered why she had an actual broom closet, full of brooms. I thought they all pertained to magick. HA! Was I wrong…..

There is one for cleansing……

One for casting a circle…..

One for handfasting…..

CLEANING!!!

Happy WhirlWind Monday Dear Friends!

I don’t know if it is a whirlwind Monday or a manic Monday? I must apologize for us running late. We had a call come in from a local Vet for an animal pick-up. I took the call and the Vet made me promise not to tell Lady A what she was coming to pick up. It is a turkey vulture, ugh! Lady A won’t refuse to pick it up, nurse it back to health and then re-release. She tells us that the vulture is one animal that creeps her out. And she is hard to creep out. I admit myself I like holding and cuddling with some of the animals we get. But you won’t find me cuddling with a turkey vulture, no way. As soon as she get back with it and gets it settled I will take a photo of it. Then you can see for yourself what I am talking about.

Lady had just started up her computer as I took the phone call. She told me I could use it for the day. I wonder what kind of goodies she has hide on this thing, hmm. I think the Countess told everyone that the firefighter destroyed my computer. Lady A has a regular PC, she is going to bring down here for me to use. It is one she has stored several old Books of Shadows on. I can’t wait to get it and snoop through it. She has already told me I could use anything I find on it. Which means one of two things, she has already wiped it cleaned or I can actually use anything on it? Time for me to quit dreaming and get to work. If I don’t have something done by the time she gets back, she will think I have been playing on this one.

Have a blessed day,

Annie

Good Friday Morning dear brothers & sisters!

Good Friday morning, dear friends! How is everyone doing today? I hope your place is much quieter than around here. The tree crew came out yesterday and cut the tree in several huge sections. I was hoping that they would carry them off that way. They didn’t. They are out here today cutting them up. Does anyone have any earplugs I can use? Lady A said they were suppose to show up at 7:30 this morning. Instead she had to call them at 8:30 to see if they were still coming out. She said they finally showed up at 9:30 and just got to cutting right before I got here. I got here today at 10:00. They will be here a—–l—–l day! Help! Earplugs, Please!

By the time the day is done, I won’t have sense enough to know who I am. I hope wherever you are, you have a peaceful and quiet day.

Annie

Sunday Greetings, dear friends! It’s me again!

I have a confession to make, it is not my fault that I am late. It’s Lady A’s. She emailed me and told me not to log in. She had some updating or something she had to do. I can tell the night owl was busy last night. Wow! I love new graphics she put up. I sometimes wonder when that woman sleeps. I am looking out the window right now. There she is with Kiki checking on the animals. She loves doing it, so why not let her do it in peace.

Lady A is enjoying herself. So I will get to work and hopefully bring some joy into your life. I will be putting on more spells today. Just give me time to do it, I have to type each one up. There might be a little pause between spells but the next one will be coming up shortly

Have a great day,

Annie

Rejoice Dear Brothers & Sisters, The Sun Has Returned To Us!

Sunrise Over Western Kentucky

Sunrise over Western Kentucky

Good Afternoon dear brothers and sisters! This is my Yule gift’s to Lady A, doing the postings after our Yule Celebration. We had a wonderful celebration and I hope you do too. The guys were ready to celebrate as soon as Lady A close up shop here. She told them they could get some chairs and benches out and we would be back in a little bit. The joke was on the guys, Lady A told us she wasn’t planning on coming back to at least 6:30. She told us we could come when ever we got ready. I showed up at 7:00 to see if there was any help needed. There always is. The food was out on the tables (buffet style). I was in charge of the drinks. Everything when smoothly. We all ate supper, then everyone helped clean up. We went to the gathering room and all had a seat. It was time to light the fire in the fireplace and tell stories to the children. We read a few stories then the kids got anxious. It was time to exchange gifts. We have a rule that we never purchase gifts. Everything is handmade which makes it nice.

After the gifts were opened, we started caroling. We sang tons of Pagan carols. While we sang, Lady A and the others that would be in the ritual quietly disappeared. Lady A doesn’t like take the part of High Priestess especially since she is a Solitary. She has more knowledge than any of us, so she got voted in years ago. Lady A’s husband is a Druid, he takes the position of High Priest. Slowly and quietly the music starts to fade.  The group parts way and in the huge doorway, stays Lady A looking so beautiful and radiant. Then her husband, so handsome and gleaming with joy of the ritual to come. The procession starts through the cabin, out the door and down to the cleared wooded area. Next comes the ritual, which I won’t give you a play by play of it. We did all manage to stay up and see the Sun rise this morning. It was a grand sight to see.

I hope everyone of you were able to have a very merry Yule celebration. Below I have posted a photo of our bonfire.

Good Friday Blessings To All!

Good Friday Blessings to everyone! I have been here for a week. It feels like a lifetime, lol! A very memorable lifetime. I enjoyed the experiences and I love spending time with my dear friend, Lady A.  This past week will be one that lives in my memory for a very long time, very long. All the animals I have seen. Some of the things I have seen Lady A do with them. I was holding my breathing knowing they were going to rip her to shreds at any minute. I have to admit Lady A is full of surprises. She mentioned she had a new cat Razzy. I told her to bring Razzy by I would love to see her. I just adore little kittens and cats.

This morning at 8:00 the door opened, it was Lady A. I asked her where Razzy was, she had promised to bring her. She told me to wait a minute, she had to get her off the back of the four-wheeler. Since I thought Razzy was a little cat, I figured she had to get her out of a carrier. About three minutes later, here comes Lady A and oh shit, that isn’t a housecat. That’s a damn bobcat. I asked her if she was totally crazy. Annie told me to get down off the desk and calm down. That Razzy was tame. Lady had adopted Razzy took her to the vet, had her fixed, declawed, the works. She had since been working on Razzy’s people skills. Annie told me to stay perfectly still or else the bobcat would pounce. Lady A told Annie to quit scaring me and then told me to get down off the desk. I sit down in the chair and Lady brought Razzy over to me. I was scared at first but then I touched her coat with my fingertip. How soft? What a pretty coat. She laid her head on my knee. Then Lady A being the witch she is, picked up Razzy and put her in my lap.  I stayed calm and petted the pretty kitty. Then kitty wanted down. She went back over to Lady A. Lady took the harness off and told Razzy to get in her spot. Her spot is on top of the filing cabinets, by the way.

Lady A took a shot of Razzy for me to put on the site. You can see how I am tortured around here, lmao, now!

Razzy 8 months old

We all went out back and turned Razzy loose (the back is fenced in). She ran and played. When she got tired. We snapped this pic real quick. Isn’t she beautiful.

Looking back on my past week here, there have been times when I wondered what the hell am I doing here? Then there were others that I wouldn’t trade the world for them. All in all, I think I have found home. Good friends, love, fellowship, nature, gorgeous scenery and the animals. Oh, the gorgeous animals. I am learning to love even baby skunks, lol!

I hate to tell you but you are stuck with me, lol!

Sedna’s Day

Colors: Blue, green, white
Element: Water
Altar: Upon cloth like the Arctic Ocean place a long net, many tangled skeins of thread, combs, and the figures of seals and walrus and fish.
Offerings: Comb the skeins and weave them into the net for Sedna.
Daily Meal: Fish.

Invocation to Sedna

Far to the North, in the coldest of waters,
Where the hunters survive by fish and seal,
A poor fisherman had too many children,
And his oldest daughter refused to wed.
So he bore her out into the cold waters,
And threw her overboard to her death.
Yet she clung to the boat, he cut off her fingers,
They fell into the water and became the seals and fish.
She sank to the bottom, where she became Sedna,
Queen of the Northern Oceans, Mistress of the Water,
With hair so long that it wraps through all the waves
Yet she cannot comb it, without fingers. So it is
That when Sedna becomes wroth, the waves pitch
And toss about, and there is no food,
For it is all caught in her hair. Shall we then take up combs,
And do the work of the angakok, on this one day?
Shall we honor Sedna, Lady of the Sea,
Victim turned Ruler, lost child become Queen,
And give her aid in her extremity, that the seals and fishes
May be many in the waters? Come forth, those who would
Comb out her hair, and with it your troubles,
Your conundrums, and all that is tangled in your life.

(Each comes forth and takes a tangled skein of thread and a comb, and sits before the altar to comb it out. As each finishes, they say, “Be well, Lady,” and weave the straight skein into the net. Those who cannot untangle theirs before the bell of Akte must leave it, and say, “I will take up this burden next year, Lady,” and give extra libation to Sedna in private, on their own.)

Sophia’s Day

Colors: Red and white
Element: Air
Altar: Upon a red cloth lay a white cloth, and upon that set a lit lantern, a glass chalice of clear water, incense of frankincense and lemongrass, and let each place upon the altar a book which they find to be great in wisdom.
Offerings: Promise to grow in wisdom, even when the path is difficult.
Daily Meal: Simple and communal.

Invocation to Sophia

Hail, Great Mother of Wisdom!
Consort of the One Whose Name May Not Be Spoken,
Lady whose still small voice
Echoes through every one of us,
Teach us to listen, Lady,
Teach us to pay attention
And to consider well our actions,
Lest we may come to regret them.
Teach us to walk each of our words
Through the door of truth,
Through the door of necessity,
And teach us to know when
We must walk them through
A door yet narrower than those,
The door of kindness to the hearer.
Let our words be heard
By ears who will listen,
And show us how to speak their language
That no misunderstanding
May mar what flows between us.
Lady of Wisdom, speak to us,
And we will strive to hear your voice.

(Each comes forward and takes the book from the altar, and speaks to what that book taught them, and how they are the wiser for it. Then each speaks to another lesson that taught them wisdom, a lesson that did not come from books but from life. Each person thanks Sophia for these lessons, and bows before her altar. Her lantern is carried from the room in procession, and set to hang, still lit, in the main room of the House, where it will remain lit for seven days.)

Good Blessed Tuesday Morning dear friends!

I would like to thank each of you that helped us to meet our domain obligation. We all deeply appreciate your generosity.  The WOTC has always been Lady A’s dream and as she said “her baby.” She is the driving force behind this site. To see her stop crying and being angry and upset is worth the world to me. You have my deepest gratitude for just that.

Thank you for all you have done for us. We appreciation your donations, love and support.

Goddess Bless You,

Annie

The Very Inspiring Blogger Award!!!!

Morrighan at The Enchanted Solitaire has nominated me for The Very Inspiring Blogger Award!!! Boy, what a wonderful surprise! This is fantastic, Morrighan. Thank you so much. I have never asked for any recognition so I am very humbled by this Award. I deeply appreciate you nominating me for this Award, dear sister. Thank you!

There are some rules to this Award but first I would like to plug a wonderful site,  The Enchanted Solitaire. I am not doing this because Morrighan nominated me for the Award. I doing it because Morrighan’s site is a very beautiful and inspiring site. It is a site that is a must see. She has very informative articles and beautiful graphics that you will enjoy. The Enchanted Solitaire would be well worth you time to visit.

Morrighan, forgive me, I must copy the rules of the Award for your site. I hope you don’t mind, lol! The rules are to thank the person and link back to the blogger that has nominated you. Then post the award logo to your blog ,write a post on the nomination and nominate 15 other very inspiring bloggers. notify them and then tell 7 things about yourself.

Hmm, something about me. Are you ready for this, lol!

1.  Most people wonder about my name, Lady of the Abyss (the Abyss, part). I know most people assume that the Abyss is associated with something dark. But for me, it’s not. I got the name during a time in my life were I was unsure of the Path I was suppose to take. So to me, the Abyss means the unknown.

2. I now know my Path but I am too well associated with the name to change it. More than likely if I was so associated with the name, I probably wouldn’t change it anyway, lol!

3. I am a Hereditary Witch as well as a Solitary.

4. I love practicing Witchcraft. Believe it or not, I find time almost every day to do so.

5. I don’t like mornings. I am a night person. Three o’clock in the morning I am up.

6. I have an unusual ability to communicate with wild animals. I think some might call it “charming” the animal. I just call it “unusual,” lol!

7. I consider myself very fortunate to have three familiars. They chose me, I didn’t chose them. But if I had to chose it would have been the three I have. They are very protective and can sense anything around that isn’t suppose to be.

Now I am to nominate 15 blogs. Please note, they are in no particular order. They are all fantastic blogs. So please take a moment to visit them:

1.  LoreBook

2.  Hedge Wife

3.  Lady Imbrium’s Holocron

4.  The London Flower Lover

5.  Ravencrow Designs

6.  Chiron! the business doctor.

7.  Magickal Moonies Sanctuary

8.  eevee lily  )0(  hippy witch

9.  Garden Witches Kitchen

10. James Ricklef’s Tarot Blog

11. Plantasmagorical

12. Balladeer’s Blog

13. The Bent Needle

14. Journeying to the Goddess

We changed spots, as if you wouldn’t notice, lol!

Friendship Comments & Graphics

I just dropped by to check on Lady A. I found her crying and very upset. She told me about our domain and the renewal issue. I started a pot of coffee and told her to go stretch out and relax. Everything would work out, if it is the Goddess’ will. I will tell you this means the world to Lady A. She loves doing this every day for you. I know myself and the others that know her believe she has been called to do this work. I don’t want all we have put into this site to be lost. I am going this week to some local donors and see what I can do. If you can help at all, it would mean the world to us.

Have patience with us today. Things are out of sorts and I will try my best to get us back on track.

Thank You and Goddess Bless You,

Annie

Colors: Brown and white

Lean a broom against the altar.
Offerings: Cakes buried under the earth. Organize and clean the house.
Daily Meal: Hearty stew with root vegetables. Wholegrain bread.

Invocation to Holda

Frau Holle, good Lady
Of the Land Under The Earth,
Who we reach through
The well into the deep places,
You who reward each
As to the temper of the work
They accomplish each day,
You who have eternal patience
And yet no patience at all
With lazy fools who will not
Lift their hands in another’s need.
Lady of the hearth, the loom,
The spindle and the wheel,
The needle and the cooking pot,
These things that so many
Take simply for granted,
They are your kingdom
And your warm domain,
And if they should be removed,
We would sorely miss them,
Much more than we could guess.

Chant:

Snow is coming
Feathers on the wind
Mother Holda
Winter will begin…

(All approach the altar, seize handfuls of the goose feathers, and fling them into the air so that they fall like snow. Each then takes a turn with the broom, sweeping them up. The mead is shared and then poured as a libation.)

Invocation to Mordgud

Hail, Mordgud, Gatekeeper of the Dark Road,
Helvegr’s watchwoman, never sleeping,
Your dark eyes watch always the oncoming road
For the lost soul who must be rescued,
Wandering in the dark with no hope
Of being gathered to Hela’s peaceful breast.
Hail, Right Hand of Hel, Warrior who protects the Way
From those who would plunder the wisdom
Of the slumbering Dead, who would raid
The secrets of the Underworld,
From those who would wreak their doom
In foolishness before their time,
All these you turn away with upraised hand,
Though fools may not understand
The kindness that you do them.
Hail, Guardian of Hel’s Gate,
Whose eyes see the Dead, in all their forms,
Weeping, sleeping, bewildered and fearful,
Laughing with open arms,
All are ushered through your Gate
With your exquisite compassion and comfort
For you leave none behind.
By the Dark Road of Stars, we hail you, Lady of the Last Gate!
By the roaring river Gjoll, we hail you, Mistress of the Last Spear!
By the gold-roofed bridge, we hail you, Mistress of the Black Tower!
By the passage of knives, we hail you, Mistress of the Knife’s Way!
May you welcome us in our hour of need.

(All come forth and prick their fingers, and wipe the blood on the tip of Mordgud’s spear, saying, “Welcome me in my time through the last gate.” The mead is poured out as libation.)

Day of Ishtar and Tammuz

Colors: Purple and white
Element: Earth
Altar: Upon cloth of white and purple lay a flaming torch, a sheaf of grain, a chalice of milk, and the skins of many livestock animals.
Offerings: Grain and milk.
Daily Meal: Oatmeal or grain porridge with milk.

Invocation to Ishtar and Tammuz

I beseech thee, Lady of Ladies,
Goddess of Goddesses,
Ishtar, queen of all cities,
Leader of all men.
Thou art the light of the world,
Thou art the light of heaven.
At thy name the earth and the heavens shake,
And the gods they tremble;
The spirits of heaven tremble at thy name
And the men hold it in awe.
Where thou glancest the dead come to life,
And the sick rise and walk;
And the mind that is distressed is healed
When it looks upon thy face.
I beseech thee, Lord of the Herds,
Care for us as for one of your smallest calves,
Keeping us from the evils that lurk
At the place where the grass meets the forest.
Thou art the sea of grass,
Thou art the giving earth.
Thou art the sacrifice that lays itself down,
And we are grateful for all that is given.
When thy name is spoken we weep,
For we remember the scythe of mortality.
The spirits of heaven mourn thy passing,
And we pay our respects at the tomb
Of the winnowing basket.

(The milk is passed around, and the remainder poured out as a libation. The torch and grain are taken outside, and the grain burnt in the torch, and the ashes scattered in the garden.)

Good Morning All You Great Big Beautiful Witches and People Too, lol!

The Lady’s Prayer

Our Mother who art all things,
Our Lady who art the moon, sun, and heavens,
Hallowed be thy name
By thy sovereignty of the sacred land,
Thy divine will be done
On Earth as it is in all realms
Give us this day our daily bread
Bless and guide us, Great Goddess
And protect us from all harm and evil
For thine is the power, beauty, and love
Forever, and a day. Ayea!

More Hello Comments

Something I wanted to share……

I am going through the old WOTC group. I ran across something that I want to share with you. Every time I read it, I almost cry. I don’t remember were I picked it up at but it is a very touching poem. See for yourself…..

INQUISITION

Again the burning came,
She felt the heat, the searing pain
a cry lanced through her heart
“Why, My Lady, Why”

She lay quietly, remembering
lost within the labyrinth of the past
and the future
she did not feel the bite of the cruel blade.
Bleeding, moaning, she saw the man
his face, and heart masked with black
she knew his choices and his pain
Oh, to cause pain, to accept his own
if only she could Touch him, Heal him.

“I love you” she whispered
dark eyes calm, yet full of pain
“Don’t ” cried the man “I want to see you die”
“I love you and forgive you” she said
tears rolled freely down her cheeks

Again, and again the searing pain
As the man applied the red hot blade
“Do you still love me, and forgive me” he screamed?

Despite the pain she answered strongly
“I do”, She smiled
“Blessed be” she whispered.

A wave of pain sent her among the stars.
“My Lady” she cried “I’m frightened”
Strong arms held her close
“You have done well my child, rest now”

The man watched as the blade grew cold
As the young body before him cooled
tears streamed down his face
and he whispered
“Forgive me”

Your hands hold the thread of instinct
That brings us unerringly through the turns,
That brings us from our center
To the Heart of all that is
And safely back again.
Hail, Lady of the Mysteries,
Your robes smoky with dark incense
Of the dark temple secrets lying
Under the quiet earth, under our feet.
Your hands receive the torn goat heart
From the bloody fury on the shore of Naxos.
Your hands receive the upturned faces
And the weeping initiates beneath the lash,
You are old in your mysteries
Yet still young enough to love anew.
Hail, Mistress of the Labyrinth,
Bride of the Grapevine God,
Crown of Stars like a sigil in the sky,
Stones below the dancing feet,
The anchor for the call of madness.
All things circle, all things cycle,
Whispers the Mistress of the Labyrinth
Into our wondering ears.

(All walk the labyrinth together, bearing offerings, and leave them in the center. The wine is passed and the remainder poured out as a libation.)
