Dragon Ritual of Making

Dragon Ritual of Making

Notes: For increasing Magick perform during bright Noon or the waxing Moon, with
the Full Moon being strongest. For decreasing during evening hours or the waning
Moon with the New Moon being the strongest. Use in conjunction with any ritual
for it is primarily to use Dragon Power and Magick for bringing desires into
being.

Supplies: Pentacle disk; Dragon pentacle; water chalice with a little fresh
water in it; dish of salt; wine chalice; black (left) and white (right) altar
candles; sword; wand; incense burner; appropriate incense; dragon’s blood and
mastic; dragon mirror; gong or bell; staff; any candles for spells; talisman
bags, etc. It is useful for concentration to plan exactly what is to be used
before beginning this ritual of Making.

Use the Basic Dragon Ritual up to the point of insertion of the necessary chants
for specific Spellworkings. Hold sword in power hand, the staff in the other.
While standing facing the Altar, hold the sword pointed to the Dragon pentacle
and chant five, seven, or nine times in tones that vibrate through the body:

By Glow Of Sun The Power’s Begun, By Moonbeam’s Light The Spell Is Right, To
Create Desire By Earth and Fire, Water, Air, Make Magick Fair. Powerful Charm
Of Making, Creative Magick Undertaking, Be Formed!

While chanting this, concentrate deeply upon drawing on the Dragon power, feel
the power being sent from all sides, listen for any messages from the Dragons
and write them down. Place the candle, talisman bag and contents, or whatever
you may be spelling, between the mirror and the Dragon Pentacle, making sure the
Dragon Pentacle is reflected in the mirror along with the objects. If using a
candle, light it and let it burn out completely in that position. If using a
Talisman bag or poppet (a small cloth doll, usually stuffed with herbs or cotton
soaked in the appropriate oil for the ritual) , leave it on the Altar overnight.
Continue with rest of the ritual.

The Charm of Making

The Charm of Making

The Charm of Making could just as well be called the Charm of Manifestation into the Physical. It is rather like the finishing touches to spellworking. The concentration used solidifies your intentions into embryonic form in the spiritual realm where all creation begins. Without this solidification and seed-planting in the spiritual, nothing can manifest in the physical.

Notes: Perform during bright noon or the waxing Moon for increasing magick with the Full Moon being strongest; during evening hours or the waning Moon for decreasing magick, with the New Moon being strongest. Use in conjunction with any ritual. This ceremony is primarily to use dragon power and magick for bringing your desires into being.

Supplies: It is better to have a pentacle disk; dragon pentacles; water chalice with a little fresh water in it; dish of salt; wine chalice; black (left) and white (right) altar candles; sword; wand; incense burner; appropriate incense (such as prosperity or binding); dragon’s blood powder and mastic; dragon mirror; gong or bell; staff; any candles for spells, talisman bags, etc. It is useful for concentration to plan what exactly you want to use before beginning this ritual.

Use the Basic Dragon Ritual up to the point where you insert the necessary chants for specific spellworkings.

Hold the sword in your power hand, the staff in the other. Stand facing the altar and hold the sword pointed at the dragon pentacle. Chant five, seven or nine time in tones that vibrate through your body:

“BY GLOW OF SUN THE POWER’S BEGUN.
BY MOONBEAM’S LIGHT THE SPELL IS RIGHT,
TO CREATE DESIRE BY EARTH AND FIRE,
WATER, AIR, MAKE MAGICK FAIR.
POWERFUL CHARM OF MAKING, CREATIVE MAGICK UNDERTAKING.
BE FORMED!

While chanting this concentrate deeply upon drawing on the dragon power. You will feel power sent to you from all sides. Listen to any messages that the dragons give you.

Place the candle, talisman bag and contents or whatever you are spelling, between the mirror and the dragon pentacle. Make certain that the dragon pentacle is reflected in the mirror along with the objects. If using a candle, light it and let it burn out completely in that position. If using a talisman bag or poppet, leave it on the altar overnight.

Continue the rest of the ritual.

Ritual Tools

Ritual Tools

Every sincere magician is always searching for ways to amplify their magickal
power so that their manifestations will be more accurate and consistent. An
excellent method for increasing the flow of energy in your cast circle is to use
the elemental type power of Dragons. There are certain ritual tools that you
will find useful for practicing Dragon Magick and if you are already practicing
Magick then you will have some of them already. If you are just beginning to
work in magick then acquire your tools slowly and with care. It is important to
remember that your tools do not have to be elaborate or expensive to work nor do
they have to be expensive. If your budget does
not allow you to purchase anything at the moment don’t put off beginning your
practice of Dragon Magick.

Altar

Any table chest or microwave cart will do as long as it is comfortable to sit or
stand during ritual

Candles
If can’t use candles substitute an electric candle or small light

Incense Burner
Can use incense sticks or cones choosing scents to match ritual. If no incense
is available, use pleasant smelling aftershave or cologne

Dagger
Can be a paring knife, letter opener as long as tip is sharp and double edged.
Element of Fire.

Sword

Doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive. Choose one that is not too long or
heavy. Element of Fire

Wand
Can be easily made out of a piece of dowel, no longer than length of forearm
plus your fingers. Glue or attach a crystal or small crystal ball to directing
end. In Dragon Magick wand is used to consecrate wine, water, and salt. Element
of Air

Staff
Can be piece of dowel or natural wood about shoulder-high. Attach crystal at top
end if you would like. If using smooth dowel you can purchase four lengths of
cording the length of staff. Cording should be in colors of the elements (red,
yellow, blue, and dark green or black ), tack or glue length of cording down
each side of staff to correspond with elemental directions, attach tassels of
the same colors at the top end of each piece of cording. You can further
decorate staff with small bells or whatever seems appropriate to you. The staff
serves as a connecting link between Magician and astral plane and becomes the
Dragon bridge, it is symbol of magickal authority, your right to call upon and
work with dragons. Also symbolic of center of circle or Element of Spirit.

Chalices
One for water and one for wine. One for water can be of any material, one for
wine advisable that it be lined with a good coating of silver if it is pewter,
brass, bronze, or copper .Wine and other acidic beverages create dangerous
reactions with certain metals. If you cannot drink wine then you can substitute
apple cider, grape juice, fruit juice, or even soda. Water chalice is Element of
Water. Wine chalice is Element of Earth, sometimes Fire when used for “blood”.

Salt Container
Small jar with lid is best because you will be keeping your ritual salt separate
from kitchen salt after consecration. Element of Earth.

Dragon Bowl
Whenever you are on a outing and feel within the area a power that draws you,
take an extremely small amount of dirt or sand back for your Dragon Bowl. This
Dragon Bowl and its contents will be used to empower objects in magickal ritual.
The Bowl and its contents naturally are Element of Earth

Gem Bowl
Clear glass bowl for stones and gems that you collect or buy. Expensive,
polished gems are not necessarily any better than those found in the rough in
Nature or the tumbled ones found in rock shops. This Gem Bowl does not need a
lid because stones radiate power at all times without any loss. Element of Earth

Water Bottles
If you plan to work with water or sea dragons, you need to purchase a number of
small bottles with lids that can be securely fastened. Again you will be
collecting small amounts of water from various sites where you feel the
radiation of dragon power, or strong elemental energies. Even rainwater as
power. Carefully label each bottle so you can remember where you got it. Element
of Water

Pentacle Disk
Necessary for consecrations and other ritual work, usually a metal or wooden
disk with a pentagram painted or etched on it. However, there is no reason that
the Pentacle cannot be made out of Cardboard. It is of the elements of both
Spirit and Earth and helps to control and balance all other of the Elements.
When used as an element of Earth, it grounds Spirit in the Ritual.

Dragon Pentacle
Used as either a picture or disk, presented during specific rituals as a means
of establishing your authority to call the Dragons and is of the Element of
Spirit

Mirror
Any shape, a plain wooden or plastic frame around a mirror makes it easier to
write on your magickal statement. Around all edges in DragonScript should be
written: “By the power of the eye of the Dragon, I capture and harmonize all
airborne thoughts. “Element of Earth and Spirit

Shielding Method 1: Pagan Grid of Protection

Shielding Method 1: Pagan Grid of Protection

Author: Nita

I want to share a protection method for those who practice a religion that is not oriented towards angels. I hope this will be a big help for people who are learning how to shield themselves from harmful energies and vibrations.

I have felt that many people who begin in magic pick up what others think, and do not understand their abilities and talents. The most difficult talent is being an empath where others feelings are sent to you. Many people have problems because they do not know the difference between their emotions and others.

I hope this shielding method helps everyone to keep balanced, centered and grounded. Blessed Be.

Arianhod, Goddess of Heaven, I ask that you send a grid of energy that nothing harmful may pass. May I be defended from the East, in the realm of air by your beauty and might. May this day go well with no slander, communication problems, misunderstandings, quarrels or arguments. May your mighty shield deflect all energies of air meant to harm me or cause discord and may I be sealed and contained from all harm through the element of air. Let me be protected in my body, mind, and soul. May all the positive spirits, Gods, Goddesses of air and the east bring the positive effects of wisdom, thought, and communications to be glorified this day in service to the light and goodness of life.

Lugh, God of the light, may your innovations, defense, and fiery nature defend me from all harm through the element of fire and the direction of the South. I ask that a grid of energy be sent to me so I will be protected from all accidents, war, terrorism, acts of violence or cruelty, May all energies of fire meant to harm me or cause discord, hatred and jealousy be deflected by your mighty shield of energy and may you add this grid around the grid of air so I may be protected from all combinations of fire, and air this day. May I also be protected from all harm through the direction of east and south or any combination of those directions and elements. Let me be protected in my body, mind and higher self. May all the positive spirits, Gods, and Goddesses of the south and east bring the positive effects of fire and air to be glorified this day in service to the light and goodness of life.

Morrigan, Lady of the Lake, may you send an invincible grid of the element of water to surround the elemental shields and grids of air and earth. May nothing use the emotions, thoughts, fears, and upset that can be sent through the element of water and west against me. May no combinations of air, fire, and water harm me or influence me negatively in any way.

May no harm come through the directions of East, South, and West or any combinations of these directions and elements. May I be protected in my body, mind and soul. May all of the positive sprits, Gods, Goddesses of Air, fire and water bring the positive effects of these elements to be glorified this day in service to the light and goodness of life.

Danu, Mother Goddess of all, may I be shielded from all harm from the North and through the element of earth by your might and loving protection being sent to me in an invincible grid of protection that goes around the grids of air, fire and water. May it protect me from all harm through the elements of air, fire, water and earth. May no single element or combination of elements be able to harm me in any fashion.

May I be freed of poverty, problems through metal and wood, inertia, and any other harm that links to the negative powers of the earth and the north. May all of the positive spirits, Gods, Goddesses, bring the positive effects of the elements of air, fire, water, and earth to be glorified this day in service to the light and Goodness of Life.

I ask that this grid be sealed by all the Gods and Goddess with an impenetrable energy shield so that no harm may come to me in any way. Be it simple energies of life or others emotions, harmful magic, or evil spirits, ghosts, hexes, curses or harm. Nothing shall past these shields. Nothing may use the energies of spirit, life, or elements against me. The Gods and Goddesses protect me and keep me safe this day and every day.

Face each direction and say:

Arianhod seal the grids completely from the East and the element of Air.
Lugh seal the grids completely from the direction of South and the element of fire.
Morrigan seal the grids completely from the direction of West and the element of water.
Danu seal the grids completely from the direction of North and the element of Earth.

Say this shielding spell every day. It will keep you safe and help you to build your energies and have a permanently strong shield of safety and protection.

You may substitute any Gods or Goddesses from any practice with these Gods and Goddesses. This method will seal the elements and directions that should keep you safe and well.

I know the basics for any grid of protection using the elements and the directions is to pick God’s and Goddesses that correspond to those directions and abilities. Ones of Earth for earth, water for water, air for air, and fire for fire. You then can assign them to the directions or find if they are present or known to defend a certain element or direction.

It means that any pantheon of Gods or Goddesses can be used for these methods. The sealing of the directions and elements is useful in most forms of magic. It will contain and seal off the direction the person who is sending the negative magic is living in or doing their magic in a certain area.

The elements are important because all of them cover every method that can be used to harm others. Earth is the elements of spell casting equipment. Air is the element of the spoken word and spirit connections. Fire is the light of the fire or candle. Water is any liquids or oils. So all of the elements combined to seal the person and protect them are very powerful. It can also be used on vehicles, houses, and places of business to protect everything that needs to be protected from harm.

I always encourage people to improvise and add in sentences or variations that fit their needs. Inspiration is important but always write down what you said and what you do. It is the only way to be sure that your method worked and to verify the results.

A Colorful Side of the Moon
NASA / GSFC / DLR / Arizona State Univ. / Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter

Explanation: This colorful topographical map of the Moon is centered on the lunar farside, the side not seen from planet Earth. That view is available to the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter though, as the spacecraft’s wide angle camera images almost the entire lunar surface every month. Stereo overlap of the imaging has allowed the computation of topographical maps with coverage between 80 degrees north and south latitude. The results have about a 300 meter resolution on the lunar surface and 10 to 20 meter elevation accuracy. Data closer to the north and south poles is filled in using the orbiter’s laser altimeter. In this map, white, red, green, and purple represent progressively lower elevations. In fact, the large circular splotch tending to purple hues at the bottom is the farside’s South Pole-Aitken Basin. About 2500 kilometers in diameter and over 12 kilometers deep, it is one of the largest impact basins in the Solar System.

Today’s Tarot Card for November 18th is The Magician

The Magician

This Tarot Deck: Cat People

General Meaning: Traditionally, the Magus is one who can demonstrate hands-on magic — as in healing, transformative rituals, alchemical transmutations, charging of talismans and the like. A modern Magus is any person who completes the circuit between heaven and Earth, one who seeks to bring forth the divine ‘gold’ within her or himself.

At the birth of Tarot, even a gifted healer who was not an ordained clergyman was considered to be in league with the Devil! For obvious reasons, the line between fooling the eye with sleight of hand, and charging the world with magical will was not clearly differentiated in the early Tarot cards.

Waite’s image of the Magus as the solitary ritualist communing with the spirits of the elements — with its formal arrangement of symbols and postures — is a token of the freedom we have in modern times to declare our spiritual politics without fear of reprisal. The older cards were never so explicit about what the Magus was doing. It’s best to keep your imagination open with this card. Visualize yourself manifesting something unique, guided by evolutionary forces that emerge spontaneously from within your soul.

Lady A’s Ritual of the Day for Nov. 17th: RITUAL TO BECOME A WITCH

RITUAL TO BECOME A WITCH

*Do it once you know what you have learned the basics and are most sure*

1. Set up your temporary altar and quarter points. The quarters can be stones or candles but stones have the advantage of not blowing out if there’s a breeze.
2.Cast a circle of protection
3. Undress-remove all jewelry. watches, etc., and put into a bag with your purse and other items that are easily lost.
4.Consecrate the circle.
5.Summon the guardians with these words, and don’t forget to pause to visualize the element for yourself dedication:

“Guardians of the North, sacred spirit of the Earth. Into the stillness of your cold dar womb shall you except my death, the death of my former self. I shall bid you hail and welcome.
Guardians of the East, sacred spirits of the air. As the sun rises in the east so shall you guide my rebirth into my new life as a witch. I bid you hail and welcome.

Guardians of the South, sacred spirits of Fire. you shall be my protector as I go forth from here along my new path. I bid you hail and welcome.

Guardians of the West, sacred spirits of Water. Cleanse my spirit and keep it ever pure from now and into the future.”

6. Now for your symbolic death:
Lie on the floor on your back. you can lie with your head to the altar(North) if you wish to be close to the God and Goddess or to the East if the principle of rebirth is more important to you.

Recite the words again:

“I am entering the stillness before creation
I am entering the ground of the God and Goddess
May my body be still
May my mind be peaceful
May by heart be ready”

7. Now be at peace; feel the peace of the Goddess flow into you. Feel yourself merge with the cold earth beneath you. Chant this slowly and quietly:

“Hecate, Cernunnos,
Dark Mother and Father take me in
Hecate, Cernunnos
Let me be reborn.”
Keep chanting until you feel yourself melting into the Goddess.

8. When you feel the time is right get up and begin to walk around the circle chanting the God and Goddess chant:

“We all come from the God and Goddess,
And to them we shall return,
Like a drop of rain,
Flowing to the ocean.”

Walk gradually faster and chant faster round and round the circle. Faster and faster until you get dizzy. Don’t stop even then. After a while you’ll get tired, but don’t stop. Go on the same time again until you drop exhausted to the floor. Why? Because chanting and dancing raise power.
9. Lay again on your back as you regain your breath. As soon as you have your breath back stand in front of the altar and anoint yourself thus:

Dip a finger in the oil and mark a cross on the left breast (male or female) then on the right breast then just above the pubic hair. This is the sigil of the first degree, the downward pointing triangle. Say:

“I anoint myself priest/ess of the old religion, and I take the name (speak your magical name quietly)”

Then say:

“I (real name) in the presence of the forces of the Universe and the Divine, do of my own free will and mind most solemnly swear that I will ever abide by the religion and science of the Craft of the Wise.
I shall neither harm my fellow humans with the secrets that I learn nor shall I flaunt my beliefs or powers before them.
From this day on I shall be reborn as (magical name) and shall honor, respect and cherish the oath I have taken.”

10. Kneel up in front of the altar. Pour a little wine into the goblet and place it at the front of the altar. Now take your athame and holding it with both hands, pointing down and arms outstretched plunge the blade into the wine.
Say:

“As the cup is to the female so the blade is to the male.”
“And so conjoined bring blessedness.”

11. Now say to yourself:

” I am reborn. I am a Witch. I am a priest/ess”

Rise to your feet and say as loud as is safe bearing in mind that sound travels “I AM A WITCH!”

12. Now consecrate the wine and cakes as you have already learned. Take some wine and eat a cake. Close the circle and dismiss the quarters, remembering to thank them. Get dressed and eat and drink some more and remember to keep some back for the libation which you make on the very site of your self initiation before you leave.

Pleiades to Hyades
Image Credit & Copyright: Rogelio Bernal Andreo

Explanation: This cosmic vista stretches almost 20 degrees across the gentle constellation Taurus. It begins at the Pleiades and ends at the Hyades, two of the best known star clusters in planet Earth’s sky. At left, the lovely Pleiades star cluster is about 400 light-years away. In a familiar celestial scene, the cluster stars shine through dusty clouds that scatter blue starlight. At right, the V-shaped Hyades cluster looks more spread out compared to the compact Pleiades and lies much closer, 150 light-years distant. Of course, the Hyades cluster stars seem anchored by bright Aldebaran, a red giant star with a yellowish appearance. But Aldebaran actually lies only 65 light-years away, by chance along the line of sight to the Hyades cluster. Faint dust clouds found near the edge of the Taurus Molecular Cloud are also evident throughout the remarkable 12 panel mosaic. The wide field of view includes the youthful star T Tauri and Hind’s variable nebula about four degrees left of Aldebaran on the sky.

Your Daily Horoscopes for Thursday, November 17th

A long-lasting wave of power will continue to build through next week, deepening the intensity of our actions and empowering us to follow through on what we start. However, it’s crucial to consider the most practical approach because Mars in efficient Virgo is forming a stabilizing Grand Earth Trine with visionary Jupiter (yesterday) and potent Pluto (on Nov. 23). Meanwhile, today’s dramatic Leo Moon motivates us to express our feelings.

Aries Horoscope
Aries Horoscope (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

It doesn’t matter what you have to do today because you’re in the mood to play rather than work. Instead of heading into the office, you would rather be off doing your own thing. Your creative potential is high now but you may feel as if you need to be less restricted in order to express what’s in your heart. Don’t wait for circumstances to change; make the best of what you have in the present moment.

Taurus Horoscope
Taurus Horoscope (Apr 20 – May 20)

You feel as if you deserve to be acknowledged and even appreciated by those close to you, yet you’re not sure that you want to share your feelings today. Your mixed messages make it challenging for others to connect with you. It’s really your choice; if you take a leap and reveal what’s in your heart, you can create a fertile environment for intimacy. Push back against your resistance by expressing your real intentions, even if it makes you uncomfortable. The likelihood of success makes this less of a gamble than you think.

Gemini Horoscope
Gemini Horoscope (May 21 – Jun 20)

You have a variety of things that you want to do today, but it’s easy to stack up one too many activities for such a limited amount of time. Your day only grows more complex if you are unable to say no. Although you may be looking forward to fun, your life becomes complicated if you’re so busy that you can’t give anything the attention it deserves. Fortunately, lightening up your calendar should have a positive impact on the rest of your week.

Cancer Horoscope
Cancer Horoscope (June 21 – Jul 22)

Your usual need for emotional safety might not serve you well today, making this a smart time to take a risk in the outer world. Although breaking out of your shell is probably the best thing you can do, overextending yourself could make you so uncomfortable that you run back to the seclusion of your private world. Instead, take a few methodical steps into your journey; start small and grow into your new strategy so you won’t have to retreat.

Leo Horoscope
Leo Horoscope (Jul 23 – Aug 22)

Although the Moon’s visit to your lively sign increases the activity level of your day, don’t take on so much that you burn yourself out before you’re ready to call it quits. However, doing too little can leave you feeling frustrated since you have so many things you want to accomplish. A more constructive approach is to concentrate on the most crucial tasks, leaving the other ones for another day.

Virgo Horoscope
Virgo Horoscope (Aug 23 – Sep 22)

You may have set your goals so high for today that you might be wise to cancel a few activities so you can recharge your batteries instead of running out of energy. You are uncharacteristically resistant to making a list of exactly what you want to do because you want some flexibility to relax. Nevertheless, it’s still best to give some structure to your day; ultimately setting a schedule will open up more time than making it up as you go along.

Libra Horoscope
Libra Horoscope (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

Your day may start on a rough note, but thankfully it improves through the afternoon and evening. You might want to take it easy, but hard work now brings bountiful rewards. Instead of ignoring your obligations as a team player today, fulfill your promises before you head off to enjoy yourself. Fortunately, your efforts will pay off many times over, making you glad that you took the more responsible path.

Scorpio Horoscope
Scorpio Horoscope (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

Trusting your intuition is your best strategy today, even if you’re unable to rationally explain how you arrived at your decision. Although you have a healthy balance between your career objectives and your personal values, you still might need to perform tasks you would rather leave behind. But don’t be overly concerned if your obligations don’t align with your long-term goals now because you might not be able to see your true trajectory from your current point of view.

Sagittarius Horoscope
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

While you know that practical concerns should be considered when making plans for your future, you’re tired of placing limits on yourself. You are tempted to ignore the current circumstances and just do as you please; however, you cannot avoid the reality of the present situation at work. Thankfully, after you finish assessing your current condition, you should be able to move ahead with a much clearer view of the future.

Capricorn Horoscope
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

You’re not a stranger to hard work, yet you might talk about everything you want to do instead of actually doing it today. You are motivated by a strong desire to create a life of purpose, but your higher ideals don’t necessarily support the tasks that you need to complete. Procrastination doesn’t work in your favor because you still must meet your obligations. Instead of wasting time plotting your escape, just bite the bullet now and finish the job before doing anything else.

Aquarius Horoscope
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

You like the idea of working by yourself, but the Moon’s visit to your 7th House of Partners makes it difficult to avoid others. You might become obsessive about evading someone you don’t want to see today, even if there’s no easy escape. Fortunately, once you are engaged in a social situation, you could quickly forget about your previous resistance. Make it easier on yourself by practicing flexibility earlier in the day instead of waiting for circumstances to force you to change your mind.

Pisces Horoscope
Pisces Horoscope (Feb 19 – Mar 20)

You may be unusually self-critical as you compare your performance at work to your original objectives. Or you might be unforgiving with a co-worker who isn’t holding up his or her end of the deal. Although your inclination is to be brutally honest today, this strategy could quickly turn a minor problem into a major event. You don’t need to say everything you feel now unless you can show extra kindness when stating your point of view.

Ritual Tools

Ritual Tools

While many power objects find a home on the ritual altar and are used in ceremony, they are not necessarily the same as ritual tools. Ritual tools are objects that have very specific uses in a ceremonial setting. The smudge fan purify space. Smudge and incense begin to induce a sacred state of mind. The ritual sword may be used to cast the circle and cut openings in it for participants that need to leave or re-enter. These tools may be gifts from your spirit allies, but they have a purpose other than connecting you to Deity and holding power for you individually.

Ritual tools being great mystery and powerful belief to a ceremony. Simply by using them, you may be transported into a magickal state of consciousness. The belief in their power alone can spur you into more effective magick and deeper trance states. This can be particularly true in the early stages of your practice, but continued use can increase their power exponentially. The more you work with these tools, the more conditioned you become to the stages of consciousness that you experience through using them. In this way, they can be invaluable catalysts to the creation of magick.

Because of the important role these tools play in the creation of ceremony and the intimate nature of your psychic relationship with them, it is vitally important that ritual tools be properly cleansed and ritually consecretaed and accepted by the deities of your path.

A Witch’s Fire Dish

A Witch’s Fire Dish

Primary Element: Fire

Another favorite tool for outdoor magick is a fire dish. Though you can burn a small fire in a cauldron, having a fire in a special bowl or dish is one of the most magickal experiences, particularly under star- or moonlight. You can carry it with you in the back of the car for rituals on beaches. Some stone circles, such as the Rollright stones in Oxfordshire, have a fire dish in situ to borrow for ceremonies under supervision of the warden.

Ideally, you would use the cauldron for water and the dish for fire: a perfect elemental balance.

Banishing Magick

Banishing Magick

Banishing magick removes or returns any negativity, psychic attack or physical threats to you, your home or loved ones. It can be the next stage on from binding magick and may sometimes be necessary if a wrongdoer continues to pose a threat even after binding. So, for example, if binding the drug pusher didn’t work and teenagers were still being dragged into the drug pusher’s web, banishing might be the next stage.

As with binding, though you can’t banish a person, you can banish their bad influence from your life or that of a loved one, so you might put a dead branch on top a hill and for each dead leaf say:

“May his harmful influence be banished from the lives of those your (or indeed all vulnerable) people.”

Leave the branch as the wind strips the leaves away so the influence would hopefully decline.

In fact, this is a real case. Being a nasty character, the drug pusher was not affected by the binding, though the particular teenager involved, whose mother was helped, did inexplicably, she said, suddenly stop going to the clubs.

A week after the banishing spell the drug pusher was forced to leave the neighborhood as he had fallen foul of a local gang for selling them impure drugs. No one has taken his place at the club.

Because banishing magick in the protective context is stronger than binding magick and you are tackling what may be bad vibes head on, it should be used sparingly on both people and situations.

However, it can be used very positively. You can cast banishing spells to get rid of sorrow, sadness, pain and sickness, bad habits or the negative effects of people who make you unhappy.

Banishing magick can also help you to end in your own mind the ties of a destructive relationship, especially if you have been betrayed or badly treated but blame yourself or cannot let go. Sometimes we need the impetus of a spell if we are to walk away or get over the old sad scenes that run round and round in our heads and stop us from moving on.

For this kind of banishing, place a beeswax candle on a metal tray. Then hold a natural fabric cord or a long reed grass taut, an end in each hand, over the flame. As you burn the center of the cord till it breaks, say:

“I cut the cords that bind me (or another person you are doing the spell for) to (name the destructive person or bad habit, for example smoking or binge eating).”

You may need to repeat this spell many times using shorter cords or reeds. Bury the burned cords or reeds when they are not longer required.

You can also use banishing magick to protect yourself from harm by returning any ill wishes, spite, malice, gossip, curses or hexes to the sender without adding any bad feelings of your own. Under the threefold law, what ill wishes send out they get bad three times as strongly. Simply say:

“I return what is yours. Send it not again.”

As you speak, hold your hand palm outwards, finger splayed into the wind.

Timing the Magical Operation

Timing the Magical Operation

Timing an operation can be as simple or complicated as required, and often the immediacy of the need plays a large part in how appropriate timing can be incorporated. Obviously one shouldn’t wait for an opportune time when the need is immediate, as this would be foolish, but neither should one be surprised when a working for increase fails at a time when nature’s tide is destructive.

The largest cycle of timing is that of the seasons, and although this is a huge subject in itself, it is enough to say that spring is ruled by air and is readying, summer is commanded by fire and is fulfilling, autumn’s regent is water and is concerned with harvesting, whereas winter is under earth’s dominion and is consequently completing. Other associations can be made with the elemental qualities and a cursory understanding of the waxing and waning of the year. Obviously one cannot always wait for spring to come around when trying to get a project off of the ground, but when possible this can be a propitious way of timing magic.

Earth energies are also affected by the moon’s tides, and with the moon ruling hidden forces such as magic this planet is a great indicator as to what the energies are doing at specific times. The moon’s phases were mentioned in brief earlier, but here we shall look at them in a bit more detail.

When the moon shows her waxing face we may know that the hidden tides are increasing in nature; this can be seen in the fact that the illuminated crescent is on the masculine right-hand side, thus informing us of positive growing energies. A full moon tells us that the forces of nature are fulfilling at this time; the forces manifest the desire of the waxing phase. This is embodied in the fullness of the moon, where both left and right-hand sides of the orb are illuminated, thus symbolizing the creation that occurs when sperm and egg come together. The darkening of the right side as the left side brightens heralds the waning moon, and this advises us that the hidden powers are negative and destructive at this time.

There is a fourth face of the moon, and that is the phase at which it is completely unlit, and consequently unseen to the naked eye. This hidden aspect of the moon is an indicator that the tides are especially propitious to workings that concern transformation-as this phase is symbolic of the transition between death and rebirth-as well as those that aspire to reveal hidden information. It is the case that most workings can be altered to fit the moon phases, and so health may be procured through the increasing of vitality at the waxing moon, or the banishing of disease at the waning moon, or even the manifestation of health at the full moon.

One may also carry out the working on a day ruled by the appropriate planet using the following correspondences:
• Sunday is ruled by the resplendent sun
• Monday has the watery moon as its regent
• Tuesday is commanded by the aggression of Mars
• Wednesday is claimed by the hermaphroditic Mercury
• Thursday is under the dominion of benevolent Jupiter
• Friday is impelled by the empress Venus
• Saturday is under the reign of masterful Saturn

Further, to daily rulers, the planets also rule hours, and these can additionally be taken into account. A chart of these hours follows. The chart is used by commencing magical operations at the hour ruled by the correct planet for the goal, but, again, this isn’t a die-hard rule, although utilizing it will put the chances of success further in your favor.

Seeking and Working with Dragons

Seeking and Working with Dragons

It should be obvious by now that I have a deep respect and love for dragons, a belief in their powers as co-magicians that is backed by years of personal experience. And I hope I have piqued your interest enough to want to work with them.

So how does one go about finding dragons? And how do you use their power? Should you do co-magick with dragons, or should you avoid the partnership?

I assume since you have read this far, that you either already practice some form of magick or are seriously contemplating doing so. If you are experiencing any doubt about your worthiness (Goddess forbid!) to work in the area of magick, any area of magick, you have some serious work to do on your self-image and the programming you have undergone that created your poor self-image.

Every magician, indeed every person who even uses prayer, constantly walks the fine line between an overinflated ego and an appreciation of her/his self-worth. She/he understands, without any cover-ups, exactly why they are choosing to work magick at any given time. This understanding is vitally necessary in order to assess the end-result of the spellworking, the type of magick used, and the consequences that may be forthcoming for certain actions. What others think of a magician’s reasons is not important; they do not pay the penalties, gain the advantages of the rituals, or know exactly what that magician may think and feel. However, the magician must know what is deep within her/his own mind and heart, know it and deal with it if there is negative programming or intentions that are selfish and unjustified.

A good magican is neither white nor black. A good effective magician is what I call gray, one who understands completely the consequences of actions and is willing to do what is necessary, particularly in the areas of protection and the removal of evil. An effective magician knows her/himself like no one else does; she/he has to be brutally honest about real intents and purposes for using any type of magick in the first place, but especially so when practicing dragon magick.

In dragon magick, the magician cannot afford any lingering doubts as to her/his right to ask help from these powerful entities. Like many other beings, physical and nonphysical, dragons will take advantage of anyone who vacillates in her/his commitment or who is unclear about their intent of a ritual.

I have yet to meet an “evil” dragon, although I have encountered a few who distrust humans so much that one must take special care when working with them. Dragons become “evil” only when there is an imbalance of energies, a disruption of the powers flowing from the Earth and humans to dragons and back again. To re-establish a positive flow of this power, the magician does not join every fanatical group out picketing and rioting. She/he knows that all changes begin within the self. Like ripples in a pond, when the self becomes balanced the immediate atmosphere and community are affected. When the community becomes balanced, this spread further, taking in countries and eventually the entire world. But, as with all things, a majority of individuals must desire and seek the balance and improvement or it will not occur.

Does this mean that unless you are perfect in all levels of your being that you cannot attract, contact and learn from dragons? Of course not? But if you desire a continued companionship with them, you must strive to better yourself, balance the ebbs and tides of energies within you, and make this effort, an on-going project. Every magician and spiritual seeker should be aware that there is no such thing as complete perfection within the human body and mind 100 per cent of the time. If you could become that perfect, you would no longer inhabit a physical body. The laws of the universe do not allow anything to remain static, non-moving or non-growing. Perfect is static in whatever form it currently has; therefore, in order to confirm to the laws of the universe, that perfect form must evolve into something else, some form of being that can continue to evolve to the next higher stage of life. Change is one of the few constants of universal law.

Dragons In Astronomy

Dragons In Astronomy

In astronomy, the ancient constellation of Draco is in the northern heavens and curves in a winding pattern between the Big and Little Dippers. It ends in the Dragon’s Head, a trapezium of four stars. The star Draconis is a brilliant double star. The constellation has probably shifted over the millennia and may have once been the polestar to which the pyramid of Cheops was aligned.

Ancient astrologers called the north node of the Moon Caput Draconis, or head of the dragon, and the south node Cauda Draconis, or tail of the dragon. The nodes (the actual meaning is “knot” or “complication”) are not planets but points which relate the Moon’s orbit to the actual orbit of the Earth around the Sun. In astrology the north node symbolizes intake and positive aspects, the south node releases and negative aspects. These draconic nodes are still considered important to today’s astrologers.

“If you don’t know the language, you’ll only see the surface of the culture…the language is the heart of the culture and you cannot separate it.”

–Elaine Ramos, TLINGIT

The Creator gave to every person their own special way to communicate and understand. Indians understand connectedness, balance, harmony, spirituality and the relationship to Mother Earth. The understanding of these things is expressed in the language. The true understanding of culture is expressed in the language. The language is the heart of the people. If we have not learned the language, we need to find a teacher.

Great Spirit, help me to learn the culture. Let me pray and sing to You in my language.

The Spiritual Laws of Witchcraft

Witchy Comments

 The Spiritual Laws of Witchcraft

Witches know that no truths are absolute. There is no one absolute truth for anything. There is no one way to interpret reality, behave, think, or live. Therefore there is no single way to practice magick, pray, celebrate the seasons or spirituality. The idea that there is only one truth to any question leads to fanaticism, compulsion, and persecution.

Witches understand that the Universe is in perfect harmony and balance. Therefore, everything has an equal and opposite, not necessarily equated to a negative. For example: male and female, light and darkness, up and down, positive and negative, left and right.

Witches realize that for every action there is a reaction. Most of us view this as the Law of Karma. Therefore if you create evil, you will receive evil inn return, create good and receive good in return. Harmony begets harmony, evil begets evil, and balance begets balance.

Witches know and realize that we are all one. We are connected. Everything that you do to another, influences yourself either directly or indirectly.

A Witch should never close his or her mind to knowledge of any kind. It is through the continuous process of learning that we raise our personal vibration and our attunement to Deity.

A Witch acknowledges the Magickal Circle as Holy Ground. Therefore a Witch shall purify him/herself before entering or casting a Circle. All notions of hatred, arguments, or prejudices of any kind have no place within Circle.

Witches use the energies around themselves to effect change within their lives and the lives of others. These energies are manifest as the 5 Elements ( Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit). The Witch becomes a conduit for the Divine and Earthly energies used during Magick and Ritual.

Witches use common sense and wisdom and do not share the Mysteries with common fools. The Mysteries are not to be wasted in this, or any other manner.

Witches do not point out the identity of other Witches. Discrimination still haunts many of us. If one brings about such an incident, he/she is directly responsible for the harm that befalls the one revealed.

Raising, Directing and Releasing Energy in Ritual and Spell Work

Raising, Directing and Releasing Energy in Ritual and Spell Work

Author: Seleya
One of the most important aspects of both ritual and spell work is the raising, directing and releasing of energy. While most understand the concepts, the reality is something altogether different. Since no two people are the same, and no two people resonate with the same methods of raising, directing and releasing energy, it is important to understand the nature of these three functions of energy usage.

While it’s simple to say: “…here is where we raise the energy, direct it and than release it…” it’s quite another thing to actually accomplish those three little things. Some say dance, sing, chant, drum, etc., but what are we actually doing while we dance, sing, chant, drum, etc.? Does the dancing, singing, chanting, drumming themselves matter? The answer is no! What matters is the energy raised when these actions are performed by the person or people involved.

So how do we raise, direct and release energy? By using any method we are comfortable with that will help us to focus our minds, focus our intent, focus the energy in us, around us in our immediate environment, in the Earth, the Sun and the Universe; to bring the energy to us, and into our circles, to accomplish the desired purpose.

Many people are in such a hurry, they omit the “grounding” part, that should always be at the very beginning or any work, be it ritual, ceremony or spell. First, this helps to connect us to the energy in ourselves, our environment and the Earth, Sun and Universe, than that connection “grounds” us, by helping us to shift our attention, our focus and our consciousness to an altered state (i.e.: from the mundane to the sacred or higher consciousness) . It is from this “altered” state that we raise, direct, and release energy, by setting aside all thoughts and focus on our daily lives and moving into an altered state.

Without the shift in consciousness, it’s just dancing, singing, chanting, or drumming… all mundane experiences, in and of themselves. The “magic” starts with the mind shifting to an altered state, where it can focus on actually raising, directing and releasing energy.

By “raising” energy, we are increasing the level of energy within not only ourselves but within the circle we have cast. As the energy begins to increase, we focus and concentrate it or condense it, until it is nearly palpable. It doesn’t matter what “method” we use to raise the energy, only that that form resonates with our psychic, our bodies, or emotions and our spirits. We have to reach out to the energy we are attempting to raise, with our hearts, minds, souls and spirits; we have to become one with it. Once that connection has been established, we can than move on to “directing”.

The directing of energy is the beginning of actually “using” the energy raised. It’s the part where we take the focused and condensed energy, and “point” it at and “direct” it into the work at hand; be it ritual, healing or spell. The raised energy must be sent into that which we desire to become reality. Without this step the energy will simply dissipate, and eventually drain into the Earth; any residual, left over energy will make us feel edgy, nervous, agitated or nauseous.

The most important part is the “releasing” part. We have to release the raised energy into the working; we can’t “hold” onto it, or the working will fail for a lack of energy. However, this last step is the most difficult to accomplish. Because we have connected with the energy we have raised, in the process of raising it; it is natural to “hang on” and stay connected to it. In order to “release” it we must sever that connection and re-shift our consciousness back into a mundane state. We have to move our consciousness away from the “work” and focus on something mundane, like the “cakes and ale”.

Now comes the hardest part of all. Just saying, “I am releasing the energy”, during the ritual or spell, is not enough. We have to actually and COMPLETELY release all the energy, all focus, thought and worry or anticipation about the “working”. If we hang onto to any part of it, we are maintaining our connection to the energy, and will drain it away from our work. We cannot think about, worry about or “wonder” when the ”work” will come to fruition. We have to “know” that by fully releasing all energy, all thought, all connection to the work, it has already become reality, even if we have not yet experienced it.

There is no magic wand like in the Harry Potter novels; the “work” or “magic” has to be allowed to function along natural lines in accordance with the Universal Laws of physics. We will not wake up in the morning miraculously thin, rich, etc. Everything in its due course. If the energy has been properly raised, directed and released, then the work is already done. It has already come about, whether we can see it at the moment or not. It’s out there, and on its way to us in what ever form we need or that the Gods determine.

The more we want something, need something; the more difficult it will be to do the last part – the releasing. In the mid 80’s, I attended several “spoon bending” workshops conducted by a physicist named Jack Hoak. He and a Metallurgist friend were working for the Pentagon at the time, conducting experiments on using the mind to bend metal (with a war application, of course) . In the workshops we learned to bend silver spoons, forks and knives with the power of our minds. And yes, it does work!

The children did if first and the rest followed quickly. The trick? Release.

It was during these workshops that I really learned to understand the concept of “release”. It was easy to concentrate on the spoon bending, but quite another thing to remove all focus from the spoon so it could actually “bend”. My first spoon bent, when the person next to me squealed with delight as their spoon bent, the moment my attention was completely drawn away from my own spoon, it bent. I had released the energy I was mentally focusing and directing at the spoon “to bend”, and then it did.

While it seemed to work best when there are many people present (easily raising the energy?) , it has yet to work for me when I am alone. Partly because of my own belief that it will only work with others present, and partly because there is nothing to distract me into releasing my energy. Practice – I need more practice.

It all takes practice. Be patient, it’s helpful to start out with the little things and work up to the bigger things. We must believe to see, not the other way around.

As with everything – practice, practice, practice.

New Moon Report for Nov. 10 – Full Moon in Taurus

 Full Moon in Taurus

Thursday, November 10, 12:16 pm PST, 3:16 pm EST

The placid Taurus Moon contrasts with the opposing Sun in Scorpio’s impulse to examine every act and question every motive. Stubborn standoffs between those who prefer things the way they are and those who need to turn the world upside down force us to examine our values. Of course, neither way of operating is appropriate all the time, so instead of locking into fixed positions, it’s wiser to recognize where to hold on and where to let go. Financial issues are likely to be emphasized as we seek ways to appreciate what we have (Taurus) while honoring our hunger for change (Scorpio).
