Angrboda’s Blot

Color: Black
Element: Fire
Altar: On a black cloth set a vase of bare oak branches with the dried leaves attached if possible, three lit red candles, a horn of mead, a wooden heart burned to ashes, and an iron knife.
Offerings: Ashes smeared on the face. A promise to see ugliness with new eyes.
Daily Meal: Coarse dark bread. Mushrooms.

Invocation to Angrboda

Hail, Hag of the Iron Wood!
From thy womb came
The Lady of Death,
Dark mistress of the shades;
The wolf of destruction,
The serpent all-encompassing.
Strong one who stands alone,
Who defends her children
No matter how ugly they might be,
Who defends her spouse
Even when all others revile him,
Who would die for her loved ones
Even when they are imperfect.
Your children exiled or imprisoned,
Yet the tide of death and destruction
Was not slowed an inch.
Hail, Lady whose heart
Was burned to ash by those
Who would not look upon ugliness
Lest they see in it a dark mirror
Of their own bright souls.

Chant: Angrboda Angrboda
Hag of the Iron Wood

(All step forth and take a handful of ashes from the burned heart and smear it on their faces. The horn of mead is passed around and the remainder poured out as a libation. The candles are put out, the iron knife is laid on the floor, and all step over it as they leave.)

Spell To Find A Lost Object

Supplies:

Mirror

Orange candle

Black candle

Small Magnet

Procedure:

Cast your circle and invoke the Elemental Guardians. Light the black candle (for solving mysteries, and drawing away the negativeness of the loss), and then the orange candle (for luck and precious objects). Visualize the lost object(s) in the mirror as already being found. Place the magnet between the two candles and stroke it towards you as you say the following three times, substituting the name of the lost object for “(lost object)”:

By the wavering flame of this black light,
Grant to me of my (lost object) a sight.
By the power of this orange flame,
Give me luck to find the same.
In this mirror the (lost object) I see
Make the magnet draw them to me.

Close the circle, but leave the candles burning with the magnet between them until the candles burn down.

Spell To Upset The Plans of A Foe

SPELL TO UPSET THE PLANS OF A FOE

To upset the plans of a foe, buy a thick white candle and carve it into the rough shape of a human being. Write the name of your enemy on a strip of paper using red ink, and wrap the paper around the chest of the wax image. Hold it in place by thrusting a steel pin through the chest of the figure. Think hard of your enemy as you insert the pin. Tie a length of red thread around the feet of the image, and suspend it upside down, saying:

“As this image of [enemy’s name] is overturned,
so are the plans of [enemy’s name] overthrown.”

Leave the image suspended. From time to time bat it with your hand to make it twist and swing, and repeat the charm.

Offerings: Candles. Written names of fallen warriors of the past, especially in one’s family.

Your blood lies spilled
Across all the lands of the world.

And perhaps you saw yourself
In his face,
And perhaps you did not.
Perhaps you fought
To save your kin and clan,
Perhaps for greed,
Perhaps for money,
Perhaps out of loyalty
To those you followed.
Whatever the reason,
You acquitted yourselves bravely
And did what you had to do
When it seemed right.
May your spirits rest peacefully,
And know we do not forget your glory.

The Witches Magick for November 11: Self Empowerment Spell

SELF EMPOWERMENT SPELL

This is a fairly simple spell, and of course you should change it according to your tastes.

–1 white candle (probably the bigger the better)

–mirror

The candle should be cleansed before you begin, and could be infused with white energy, the energy of love and strength. Meditate upon your intentions before you begin. why do you need to empower yourself? Is it because you wish to realize the beauty within yourself, or you wish others to see the beauty or strength you know that lies within you.

This spell also works best if you do a cleansing of yourself, whether it is bath or shower or just visualize all of the negativity that you are carrying with you washing away.

The candle should be placed in front of the mirror, and the mirror should face you. Light the candle. Feel the positive energy emanating from the candle.
If you worship a deity, call upon them to help you.

Chant or say a prayer. This is an example:

I walk in beauty with the Goddess.
I am strength. I am beauty. I am will. I am love.
She is within me. All who see me, know Her.

Distance Healing

Distance Healing

Note: this ritual is an action whose end result affects
another. Please make sure the recipient of these healing
energies actually wants them.

Preparation

You will need 3 candles, incense, a picture of the
recipient (if you have one, great, if not, write the
recipients name on a piece of paper, and visualize
him/her), and a quartz crystal (optional). The candles
should be Blue, White, and Pink. The incense should
be composed of one part ginger and one part rosemary.

The Ritual

Light the candles in a semi-circle in front of you.
Place the incense off to one side, and place the picture
inside the semi-circle, facing you, with the crystal
sitting on it. Center yourself. Inhale the incense,
and gather your energies. When you feel you have reached
the maximum amount of energy you can hold, release it by
directing it to the recipient. Directing it through a piece
of quartz enhances the distance the energy can travel and
not lose force.

Ancestor Day

Color:

Black and grey
Element: Earth
Altar: Spread a black cloth, and lay it with photographs, paintings, and other depictions of our ancestors. Add also symbols of their old tools, and statues of ancestral deities, a bowl of seeds for the future garden, pots of soil, a pitcher of water, and many candles of black and white and grey.
Offerings: Things they would have liked to eat, drink, smoke, or smell. Tend a cemetery and clean up the graves.
Daily Meal: Food from an earlier era, using authentic recipes.

Invocation to the Ancestors

Our ancestors got up at dawn,
Slaved in the dirt,
Sweated in the sun,
Chilled in the cold,
Numbed in the snow,
Scattering each seed with a prayer:
Pray that there be enough,
That no one starve this winter.
Pray that no bird nor beast
Steal the food I have struggled for.
And most of all,
Pray that each seed I save
Of this harvest
Shall next year
Bring forth a hundred more.
We live today
Because they worked
Because they sowed
Because they harvested
Because they prayed.

Chant:

Those who came before
We are your children
Those who came before
We honor your names

(Each person takes seeds from the bowl and plants them in the pots of soil, speaking the name of one of their ancestors as they do so, as in: “In honor of _______.” The pots are watered, and the candles put out one by one.)

The Witches Spell for November 6: Cast A Witch’s Lucky Candle Spell

The Witches Spell for Tuesday, November 6th

CAST A WITCH’S LUCKY CANDLE SPELL

Take an orange candle anointed with cinnamon oil, clove, or lotus oil.
Light the candle and say 3 times:

“Brimstone, moon, and witch’s fire,
candlelight’s bright spell,
good luck shall I now acquire,
work thy magic well.
Midnight twelve, the witching hour,
bring the luck I seek.
By wax and wick now work thy power
as these words I speak.
Harming none, this spell is done.
By law of three, so mote it be!”

Do this spell at midnight.

SAND CANDLES

SAND CANDLES

Another way to make candles which is easier and quicker is “Hippie Candles” as they were called in the ’60s. You need to first obtain the sand – either the beach, sandbox or you can make a box and fill it with sand just for this purpose. Size, of course will depend on how large your candle is and how many.

First, moisten the sand enough to where you can make holes in it without the sand falling back down into the hole. Then Dig your hole in the sand the shape you want it. The easiest to start with are tapers but pyramids and cauldron aren’t much harder. If you want legs on your candle – take a pencil (unsharpened) and poke hole for the legs in the sand.

When the shape is finished – hold a piece of wick over the approximate center and gently pour the wax into the hole, making sure the legs (if any) are filled.

Allow the wax to set, which can take a while. After testing wax to make sure it is ready, slip fingers into the sand under the candle and gently lift it out. Brush off any excess sand. If the legs are uneven, you can even them by sitting the candle in a hot frying pan. You are done!

HAND-DIPPED CANDLES

HAND-DIPPED CANDLES

You need to obtain the following supplies:
2-4 pounds of Paraffin Wax (the kind used in canning) or beeswax (which is usually expensive). Candle wick (available at most hobby and craft stores) oils and herbs (for scent and magickal goals) candle dye (also expensive) or crayons (for color) wax paper a wooden spoon double broiler.

Begin by melting the wax in a double broiler. If you don’t have one, you can use a large pot filled half full of water and a large coffee tin with the wax in it, sitting inside the pot. Heat the water to boiling first and cut up your wax so it will melt quickly. Once the water is boiling, turn the heat down and place the tin of wax inside of it. Keep the water hot enough to keep the wax melted but not so hot that the paraffin catches fire (which it has been known to do over high heat).

While the wax to melting, stir with a wooden spoon (never use metal) & make sure it all is completely melted.

Also, while the wax is melting, mix the herbs (if more than one) in a small bowl. After the wax is completely melted and been checked, break the crayons up and put them into the wax. Keep stirring until all of the crayons have melted and the color is even and smooth, with no streaks. Keep in mind that the candle will be a shade or so lighter when dry. The more crayons – the deeper and richer the color, so experiment.

Next, add the herbs to the wax. Empower with your energy and magickal intention while mixing the wax. Stir with the wooden spoon until it is thoroughly mixed. Next add 10-20 drops of essential oil (please, no synthetics when making candles for magickal or ritual use) to the wax until it smells strongly of the fragrance intended. Now your wax is ready.

Start with a long piece of wick – twice the size of your desired candle length plus 3 inches (you will be making 2 candles at once). Bend the wick in the middle and hold it by the bend. Dip the wick into the wax and then lift back out. Getting started is the hardest because the wick will float on top of the wax until it has enough wax on it to weigh it down. Allow it to get completely cold between dippings when you first start.

After your candle has started to take shape you can speed up the process a little. I keep a pan of cool water nearby and dip the candles in the water after each dipping in the wax. While this speeds up the process a little, candle making is a slow process but very well worth the time and energy you put into it.

Keep dipping the candles and allowing them to cool & then dip again. When you have achieved the proper size, hang them to dry until the wax has set but the candles aren’t too hard. Then roll them on the wax paper to smooth out the shape. Once the candle shape is too your liking, dip 1 or 2 more times to make sure your candle is smooth. Trim off any excess wax to make a bottom with a sharp knife. Cut the wick and hang your candles to dry.

CANDLES AND SYMPATHETIC MAGIC

CANDLES AND SYMPATHETIC MAGIC

When candles are molded into shapes, it is called sympathetic magic.

To assist in finding a familiar, burn a candle in the shape of the animal you desire

Fertility spells can be cast with a phallus-shaped or womb-shaped candle. Healing uses human-shaped candles or skull candles. White ones are for healing, black ones for reversing spells and warding off negativity. Different animal-shaped candles can be used for a specific purpose. Some examples are: dog – loyalty, cat – cleanliness, wolf – wisdom, bear – motherhood, rabbit – fertility.

Another type of candle magic uses pins. Stick a pin in as close to the top as you can without breaking the wax. As you insert it, say:
“When this candle burns to the pin,
The process of (name the desire) will begin.”
Insert a secont pin close to the first and say:
“When this candles burns to this pin
The process of (name the desire) will come to a successful completion and end.”
-This idea came from Silver RavenWolf

You can use birthday candles or very small candles for a spell that needs to be done quickly. You can also put drops of colored oil or food coloring into small tealite candles which also burn quickly.

LIGHTING, EXTINGUISHING AND DISPOSAL

LIGHTING, EXTINGUISHING AND DISPOSAL

Light all candles with a lighter or another candle. Never use matches, as the sulphur will disrupt magickal workings.

To extinguish a candle, use a candle snuffer, or wave your hand over the top of the candle to create enough draft to extinguish it.

If you plan to use it again, store it carefully. If the spell calls for a virgin candle, bury it off of your property for spells involving the movement of things away from you and on the property if you wish to draw something toward you.

Keep candle drippings from all rituals, except those where you are repelling. You can add drippings to healing pouches (if the spell was for healing). Remelt them on a talisman consecrated and empowered during the same ritual, or keep them simply in the bottom of a purse or coat pocket for good luck, fertility, romance and fortune.

USING CANDLES

USING CANDLES

Candles are usually dressed before they are used. I do not usually use this method, however and I have found that I get the same results by just rubbing the candle. Oils must be consecrated before they are used. Use oils to dress the candles by finding one that coincides with the spell you want to perform. Rub the candle with the oils. Later, if you like, you may roll the candle in herbs that also will help with the type of spell you wish to perform.

To draw something toward you, rub the candle in a downward motion from the top to the middle. Then rub from the bottom up to the middle as well.

To repel something, reverse by rubbing from the middle to the ends.

NEVER RUB IN A BACK AND FORTH MOTION: it negates the entire process.

When finished, dab some of the remaining oil on your third eye and then in the center of your breastbone. Speak words of power over the candle such as:

I cleanse and consecrate this taper in the name of the God and

Goddess. May it burn in strength in the service of light.

Continue by stating the purpose of the candle.

When inscribing a candle, use the same directional procedure. To bring things toward you, write from the top to the middle, then from the bottom to the middle. If you are repelling something, reverse the procedure. The athame is used to carve the inscription.

Feng Shui Tip for October 27th ~ ‘National Forgiveness Day’

I’ve gotten such positive feedback from this tip in the past that on ‘National Forgiveness Day’ I feel it’s my duty to put it out there again. If someone or something in your life (including yourself) needs your forgiveness, then this next adjustment is for you. On a piece of plain white paper write the name or circumstance that you need to forgive with a green ink pen. Fold the paper in four and place it inside any lidded glass receptacle like a Mason jar. Then pour just enough honey into the jar to cover the paper and tightly seal the jar. For the next nine nights burn a small white candle either atop the jar or immediately next to it while sending thoughts of forgiveness and love to the name written on the paper. After a few minutes you can blow out the candle. On the ninth day allow the candle to burn all the way down, and once the candle is cold, deposit everything in a brown paper bag. Dispose of this bag somewhere outside your living space and dispose of the weight of the world as well!
